Fantastic Vietnamese restaurant with great food and great staff! My family have been here at least 4 to 5 times, both eat-in and take-out. The food is always on point with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked meat. The noodle soup is full of flavour as well. The portion is huge and definitely worth the price.

The realm of Pho leaves little room for variety when comparing one establishment to the next. While Mama La serves the same dishes as the next; their quality and flavor profile has left all other local Vietnamese Restaurants in the dust! Vermicelli dishes are generously portioned and you won't find more Bang for your Buck anywhere else. Their chicken and pork was fresh, using good quality meat, (BIG emphasis on quality) and spiced perfectly!! Noodles were very well portioned. Fish Sauce was sweet, with an excellent flavor profile; while at the same time lacking the usual fishy odor that accompanies it. It was excellent. The Spring Rolls: these things are a Revelation! They are the BEST tasting spring rolls I've ever had. They will improve the quality of your life, and your marriage. If there's anything to knock about the dish, it was the vegetables. While most places use shredded lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, bean sprouts, or a combination; Mama La uses almost a mixed greens style vegetable, with big chunks of iceberg lettuce and spinach. While it's not really a bad thing, I found the big chunks of lettuce detracted from the overall dish, just a bit. If you're in West Lethbridge, you owe it to yourself to stop in and experience Mama La. If you're anywhere else in Southern Alberta, same applies to you. It's worth the trip, despite its location (far west side of Lethbridge).

New Vietnamese restaurant in west Lethbridge. I like the simple and comfortable design of the restaurant which makes you wanna spend more time in the restaurant to enjoy their food and chat with your friends. I went there twice with my boyfriend. We was so surprised the size of their food. It's huge!!!! We both need to take leftover home. Overall, their food is tasty but a little bit salty. Although they don't have so many choice on their menu, it will still take you sometime to decide what to order (because most of them looks yum!)

When I saw the prices on the menu I found that everything was about $4 more than I'm used to for Vietnamese food, but oh man is it ever worth it! Huge portions and high quality food, you get the value and more! We got the shrimp salad rolls, there's "only" 2 but they are easily 2 or 3 times the size of salad rolls elsewhere, and stuffed with a ton of shrimp. I got the pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl and added on the cucumber and sprouts because it didn't seem like it would be enough with the listed ingredients, boy was I wrong! The vermicelli bowl was so much food it's easily 2 meals, not just rice noodles either, there is so much deliciously seasoned meat, and the spring roll is enormous just like the salad rolls. Instead of getting cucumbers and sprouts I should have gotten a second fish sauce to pour on the portion I saved for tomorrow (even if you can eat it all at once a second fish sauce would be good for this much food). My husband got the beef satay soup and really enjoyed it, but he was only able to finish about half. Absolutely wonderful food, we will be back!

You can always expect the freshest ingredients and amazing flavours. Hours can vary, especially if they run out of food, so check their Facebook page and ensure they're still open before you go! I needed a Toronto style restaurant. After days of traveling across the country. I found the reviews intriguing and we were happy from the get go. Friendly welcoming staff. Great selection of our favourite Vietnamese foods. We ordered the sugar cane shrimp, porkchop on rice, & beef with beef ball Pho. Every item was magnificent. Rich in flavour and aroma. Cooked to perfection. We couldn't have been happier and my partner stated it was the best porkchop on rice she had ever eaten. I would put this up against any Toronto Vietnamese restaurant. It was modern and the quality outstanding. Food service was also super fast even though the tables were almost full around dinner time. We will put this on our anual Lethbridge visit stop.

MAMA LA is an amazing restaurant. Not only do they have amazing food items on their menu, they are also a very kind and people-focused restaurant. There was recently a fundraiser that MAMA LA set up where proceeds of certain menu items were donated to flood relief funds in a community that had recently experienced a traumatic flood. MAMA LA was able to provide monetary relief as well as items that would help individuals and families get back on their feet. Quick service. Limited menu but nice balance of selections. Had the spicy beef vermicelli noodle soup. Tasty. Need to try some spring rolls and pho next time. Pretty busy when I went for lunch.

The first few months, food was great. However, the quality drops faster than any other Vietnamese restaurant in town.. first thing is mistook my pho order, and when I get the right order, the rice noodle was way over cooked, and I let that slide. This time, curry shrimp on rice, they switched from medium sized shrimp to small shrimp, and the cook forgot to put salt in when they cooked my food. I don’t know what to say. I really liked their food, if they can keep the quality consistent, i’d Love to go back again. This time is July 24th, Tuesday, around 7:35 pm, I ordered Curry shrimp. Go ask that cook why the curry is flavourless and shrimp is not fresh?

Mama La is a great little restaurant on the west side. Their large two-person entrées are enough for three people and are quite tasty. They do get a little skimpy on protein and veggies and they're not quite as good as my go-to places in Montreal and Vancouver, but that really isn't a fair comparison. Staff is always super friendly and service has been very prompt. Super happy to have a great place here in Lethbridge.

Very good Vietnamese food but not my favorite. The springrolls and salad rolls were delicious but I thought their rice noodle bowl had too much lettuce and the fish sauce was way too spicy for me. I also had a mango milk tea and I thought it didn't have a lot of flavour. The service was quick and friendly.

Tried this place a couple of times but will probably avoid it. The staff is great but the food is unimpressive. The dishes are overseasoned, overcooked and the ingredients are not fresh (some of the zucchini in a dish I had was definitely old). There are ways to cook good Asian cuisine without MSG that don't involve overseasoning. Disappointed because there aren't many options on the west side. I'll try again in a while in the hopes they improve their recipes and food quality.

I would consider myself a pho expert. The way I would describe this place is that it's a hip modern Vietnamese restaurant. The bowl of pho I ordered is not like traditional Vietnamese restaurants but that's not necessarily bad, just different. Mama la is definitely one of the best places in lethbridge to get pho. The portion is modest, garnishing is already included in the bowl, clean and well presented. The broth was the highlight in my opinion. It has a good beefy taste balanced by pho spice aroma. What makes it stand out is that it is not overloaded with salt or msg like other restaurants and I really appreciate that.

I was recommended, by a friend, to visit Mama La and I'm thrilled that I went. What a treat! I ordered the pork and spring roll bowl with noodles and a letche and green apple bubble tea. Now I'm stuffed to the gills with a delicious lunch and I'm still nursing the tea. My meal had many wonderful flavours that blended together delightfully. Portions were big. The service was prompt most excellent. I was greeted with a smile and most importantly, checked on multiple times, while enjoying my meal. Mama La is a clean establishment where you get the choice of fork or chopstick right at the table. I will return.

The highlight of the meal was by far the beef sate bahn mi (sub). The meat was seasoned quite nice and the french baguette was perfectly fresh. The spring rolls were tasty and I could tell they were made fresh. Unfortunately the noodle bowl was disappointing, no sprouts, no cucumber, no shredded carrots, just spring mix salad (?), lemongrass chicken and vermicelli noodles. The lemongrass chicken was seasoned quite nice but I'm uncertain if something overall was missed, it felt like the bowl was empty. Overall it was a decent meal and we'll certainly be back for the bahn mi.

really friendly staff and huge portions! the environment was very calm and clean and the prices were fair. the only reason i gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that i found the spring rolls super peppery and i personally didn’t love that, but others might (or you could just not have the spring rolls lol)! Also i wish there was more seating but i’m sure some day they’ll get a bigger space, i love that they have a takeout option as well as seating options though! had a very enjoyable time and will be coming back.

food is mediocre considering the high price point, i mean 16 dollars for Pho? I would've tolerated it if the staff was friendly but most are rude and seemed annoyed at all times. Especially the Asian lady who looks to be in her 30's, i once came in to order a bubble tea 25 minutes before closing and she gave me attitude for because she was cleaning up and didn't want to wash a blender. My drink didn't have any flavor, large chunk of ice and the pearl was stale, i threw my over priced drink out after 2 sips. I never usually leave google reviews but this place is something else and i had to inform others to beware of the rude employees.

Loved the food here. The bowls function as a dinner for two ppl and they do allow sharing. Along with some of their other dishes. You can always bring leftovers home with you. What I liked most was the flavors. They really stood out over other vietnamese restaurants here in town. Although everyone does their food differently and not always can be compared. I found I really enjoyed what I had ordered. The chicken wings were much larger than I expected. They incorporated the entire wing so you really get 10 smaller "wings" in the form of 5 full size ones (I got pics to elaborate). The spring rolls are massive. Bot the usual small sizes that other places offer. More like the same size of salad rolls. I brought some left overs home and tgey marinated over night, (Got the pork and springroll and poured my fish sauce into the bowl. I think it brings out the flavor of the dish). Was perfect when I ate them for breakfast the next day. Their lemon tea was superb. I am certain, you will not be dissatisfied with MaMaLa.

Hits the spot for Asian fast food, which is to say the food was tasty but entirely devoid of personality. Had the lemongrass beef (would get again) and coconut curry soup (overwhelming turmeric flavor and left my tongue with an msg tingle). The portions are large but food is not really good enough for the price. Springs Rolls on the north side has similar types of cuisine and prices but much much better. EDIT: I went back again & now am changing from 3 stars to 2. The satay chicken was barely edible. Some of the vegetables tasted off. The satay wasn't too hot for me but it was so overseasoned that I couldn't taste anything except the one-dimensional chili flavor. I'm sort of wondering if the excess seasoning (same as in the over-curried curry and the decent but salty lemongrass beef) is an across the menu problem.

Quality of food has been very hit or miss especially for the increased prices. Meat is usually great but sometimes was a let down. It would be nice to have more noodles in the dishes as well. I think part of the cost or price is the atmosphere which is nice. The decor is well put together and the staff is friendly but in terms of purely the food, per cost there are better and most importantly more consistent Vietnamese restaurants in town.

The soup for the pho is not even hot. Pho doesnt taste good. Theres not alot of choices on phos and price is too expensive for the size of it. I dont know why theres no hot sauce or soy sauce on the table ready like every vietnamese restaurant i have been (calgary, edmonton, toronto). Other than that the place is good and clean.

Sorry, cute place, I'll try it again but the Pho was by far the worst I've ever had in my life. I've tried every other place in Lethbridge, while not great, it was at least edible. Yes I know the owners used to run some other joint, etc... but i can't get over how terrible the Pho was. I am from Calgary though, so perhaps my standards aren't quite the same. Just grodey.

I'm from the UK where you get restaurants from all corners of the world and I've lived in a few countries within. Europe and had some awesome food along the way. Then i came too Canada in 2009 and i couldn't find anywhere that could beat the flavors that I've had the pleasure of having in my travels and then MAMA LA opened and OMG!! This place is fantastic, its run by a brother and sister and their amazing friendly staff. The staff here are super friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you have regarding the amazing food. The food is beyond amazing, full of flavor and the portion sizes are great and the prices are great too. This place is a must go to place, but be warned, they do get very busy because of how popular they are and for how good their food is. Keep up the great work MAMA LA. Oh the restaurant is named after the owners Mom. How awesome is that.

I've eaten at Mama La's four times now and have enjoyed the food every time (ordered a bowl twice and Pho twice). Clean restaurant, friendly staff, and big portions of fresh, great tasting food - what more can you ask! Mama La is sort of a hybrid between cafeteria and restaurant. You decide what you want, order and pay for it at the cash register, and the food is brought to your table. It is actually quite convenient and efficient. For those with dietary restrictions, there are gluten-free and vegetarian options on the menu (vegan, too, I believe). I'll be back - I already know I'll be ordering the Satay Beef Soup next time in!

Wasn't overly impressed. Got 2 Spicy Beef Satay and an order of spring rolls. The Pho - The broth was ok, noodles are better then most in Lethbridge. But missing peanuts, tomatoes, and a portion of bean sprouts that gives the customer the option of how much they want to eat. The Spring Rolls - Sogy... not cooked through enough.

Most disgusting meal that I ever received, but no surprise there since it only took 5 mins to make. The meal had no flavour, I paid $60 dollars for 3 meals of disgusting. On top of that the company asks for a tip after every transaction. Not sure why its not like they put out a good meal. Even my bubble tea was a disappointment, the pearls were all stuck together so I had to eat them after I drank the juice. Good flavor, but WOULDN'T RECOMMEND COMING HERE!!

Amazing everything. Diana and her team are putting out some of the best food in town. Also, its a great concept. Portion size, value, taste is all on point. Authentic flavours and passion makes Mama La worth the visit. Keep in mind, the concept for seating is different than a sit down restaurant. I've spoken to the team at Mama La, this is to provide more cost savings and value to the customers. Worth the stop. Also, they are adding new menu items all the time.

I have nothing but positive feedback to give Mama La's, very attentive and friendly staff, very eager to fix mistakes and go above and beyond. My favorite menu item (satay beef soup) is no longer on the menu however they were happy to re-create it! If you haven't tried Mama La youve gotta make a stop here for lunch!

I usually love eating here. The food is usually delicious, and definitely the best Vietnamese in town. But lately I have been unhappy with the service and the food. The restaurant is always busy, and they haven't done much to make up for this. My food was extra salty last two times. I also had to change my order couple times, because they always run out of food too early (around like 5 pm). I mean, you know your busy. Stock up! Quality in service and taste has gone down, but prices have gone up. Go figure.

Everything I have tried has had amazing flavour. Large portions which are good for sharing. Excellent service. Only downfall would be that your favorite dish may be sold out as they shop daily to ensure freshness so if you arrive later in the day you may have to try another delicious option on the menu.

Jebus MF Christ, that was good!!! I ordered the vermicelli bowl with spring rolls and grilled pork and an order of the salad rolls. I've never in my life ran out of noodles before the meat, some how I managed and that's not a bad thing! The salad rolls were humongous also! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! So this place opened recently. I consider myself something of a viet sub fan. The beef satay sub is amazing and no trip is complete without a bubble tea. (Just called blended drink with pearls) A little bit small, and closed on Mondays. The rest of the week the owner is usually hanging around and is super friendly. Way better than thai tai's in Calgary, my old viet go to. Thanks for classing up the west side!
