I was recommended here by a friend who raved about the amazing service here. We've only been here twice and when we got there the second time the waitress had remembered us from the time before! When we ordered she asked us if we wanted sides of spicy mayo like last time, which was awesome because we almost forgot to order those. The sides of spicy mayo are nice and big too not like other places where they're really small. She recommended 4 items when we asked, and we decided to try two of them. They were amazing! New favourite sushi restaurant, best service we've had of any of the places in Langley!

Seating at a private booth by the window makes the experience even more enjoyable. Our family has returned at least a few times. This restaurant shares part of a strip mall with other businesses we like to visit, such as a seafood store and a laundry.

The reviews for this place were good so we decided to stop for a sushi night my son and I. Sadly, it took about 30 minutes for someone to take our order and another 40 minutes to get iur sushies. I had to cancel two orders because we eventually had to leave. The place was not packed at all. On top of that, they forgot to bring our side of edemames and one of the 3 sushi choice was not the one we ordered so they had to return it. A big mess... :( I just hate to leave this review because the waitress was nice. But sadly, you don’t want to ge there if you want to eat in a timely manner.

I have been going to Maru since I discovered it about 5 years ago....This is by far the best sushi restaurant in Langley. I have tried many others but none compare. The food is fresh and tasty, the service in fabulous and the take out is super fast usually under 15 mins. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant....love it

I've come here maybe 4 or 5 times now. Usually the food is good, nothing special but tastes ok. The last 2 times I came here I ordered Sockeye Salmon Sashimi. They served complimentary edamame every time except for tonight. I saw other tables had theirs but decided to pass on it anyway and not say anything. Both last time (~1 month ago) and tonight the daikon under my sashimi was MOLDY!!! I didn't mention it to my server last time because I didn't want to make a big deal out of it and figured it was a one time thing. Tonight, however, I quietly mentioned it to my server. She said she would let the kitchen staff know. When I went up to pay, I mentioned it again to the lady at the counter and she apologized and said they had just received fresh vegetables this morning. I said I'm quite certain the daikon is moldy and I know what mold tastes like (I've worked in kitchens for over 10 years). I went on to tell her I was disappointed that they were still charging me the full price for a meal that may make me ill and that it was not the first time that I found the daikon to be moldy. She said she could not offer me any type of discount. They didn't even try to make it right, just made excuses that the owner was not there and there was nothing she could do, the vegetables came this morning from their supplier, etc. She then asked me to leave my name and number. When I got a call tonight they said they could offer me 10% off of my next visit or I could come in to be refunded 10% of my $13.00 meal. No thank you. I will no longer support such an establishment that doesn't care about the quality of the food they serve nor their customers' health and satisfaction. Food safety is kind of important.

Been going there for 15 years I have my Covid passport But forgot my wallet at Home so in short could not give them identification to pair up with my passport I was refused entry and on that note I will never give them my business again. Never will I set foot on there property was embarrassing besides there are many sushi restaurants in Langley that are better and/or comparable to them. Thanks a lot Maru ,New management pales in comparison to the prior ownership. So just to be clear since new management took over Place has gone to hell in a handbasket.We miss The prior owners always a friendly welcome and departure

I've never had anything to complain about with these folks, and that says a lot. They make great tasting sushi and sashimi that is properly sized to fit in your mouth, and has the correct ratio of rice to filling. No ridiculously sized monstrosities here, unless you order from the special menu. This place is where we always go.

As a Japanese food lover, I can say this place provides nice nigiri sushi and rolls. They are fresh and yummy. Hall service is also helpful and friendly. This was quite a surprise , I was in the area and felt like sushi went here for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised although the food was great and affordable it must have been a family-run business because only one lady was serving food and amidst all the skip drivers standing in the entrance way was quite annoying you go out for dinner and all you see is drivers in jogging pants or one guy stood at the table across from us with his foot on the bench but I guess that's to be expected on a busy friday night

We ordered the Spicy Tuna and Salmon Sashimi, Chopped Scallop roll, Unagi roll and Toro nigiri. The rolls were fantastic, especially the chopped scallop. The sashimi was different in that the pieces were sliced thinly. The quality of the tuna was amazing. I would go back and try their ramen and other cooked food.

Very good hot foods, but the sushi isn't the best. I usually go for the ginger beef teriyaki or the ton katsu. The portions are quite large and if you're eating in, the little rooms are a nice experience. Quality has been going downhill for a couple years now. I hope they turn it around.

The sushi has always fresh and full of flavor. The portion and sizes of rolls are fair not overly huge that they dont fit in your mouth. Very good quality ingredients. Unfortunately they lost two great servers as they went on to complete university .. they are truly missed. They always had a full house running smoothly. And no errors or waits. The Newer wait staff is not the greatest. I hope they improve over time. But food is always great

Is a great place, although to be honest I will never understand this Canadian fascination with smothering sushi with all these sauces that overwhelm the delicate flavours. It was great that they were able to cater to this concern by providing the sauces as separate sidedishes.

Found strands of hair in 2 different places, one in the tempura batter on the tempura and 1 in the chicken teriyaki. Asked for a discount and they said they cannot do that but they would remake the food. Which made us wait more and then also never said sorry about the inconvenience. Not impressed by any means. This place apparently doesn't find it necessary to wear hair nets to prevent hair in the making of the food. The guy in the kitchen just has his hair tied in a ponytail with the rest of his hair down.

Maru is a good place to eat if you like the variety of bento boxes. The rolls and the sushi are fresh and there is a ton of options. They do Bento box item replacements, which is something that not many Japanese restaurants do. If you're in the area and want Japanese food, this restaurant is the place to go.

It's a wonderful change to see on Langley's downtown main street.There are no longer empty store fronts and every location is bustling with activity. There are wall size murals on the buildings and interesting sculptures. Every parking space is filled. On the eastern end of the street is the Maru Japanese Restaurant. When you step through the door, you are no longer in Langley but in Tokyo. There are all sorts of Japanese artifacts including lanterns and wall coverings. You sit down at a table in your own private alcove. Our server is very friendly and all smiles. After reviewing the extensive menu, we chose the Viking Boat dish for four. It provided a splendid range of sushi and sashimi in addition to the miso soup, tempura, shrimp, mussels, noodles and rice. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. With tea and a bottle of saki, the price was only $100.

I order take out and it's usually a 20 min wait then we eat at the park down the street. They are a busy sushi place being local downtown Langley.

I've been to many sushi joints around the world, and Maru is always the best. Generous portions of fish, well seasoned rice, authentic ingredients, nice private layout, soft Japanese music, clean filtered water!! (Which makes the tea taste better). Even the basics like sunomono, gomae, and miso are simple and tasty - how they should be.

Horrible service. I was the only customer in the restaurant. She Didn’t ask for our drink order, I had to go up and ask her, as she hadn’t returned to my table for over 10 mins. Didn’t even type in my sons food, so he ate alone. Didn’t check up on my table once. Had to chase her down for a to go box. This use to be my go to place that I recommended to everyone... not impressed. Way to focused on skip the dishes rather than their in house customers. Will not be returning.

It’s a cozy restaurant so for that I give it one star. ( and because There is no lower choice). I ordered tea and when that came it was barely lukewarm. I then ordered the seafood dinner box #36 for $19.95. First I was served miso soup and when my dinner came I was rather disappointed at the teeny tiny serving of Sunomono salad. It’s pretty cheap to make, they could have been a little more generous with the serving size which could’ve fit in a shot glass. The California rolls tasted a bit stale, 2 thin strips of teriyaki salmon on rice and cabbage with a tiny mussel in shell on the side. The shrimp tempura was average as was the 2 pieces of nigiri. Once you get your food you are totally forgotten. I had to practically beg for a refill of tea (which was served hot this time). With so many staff members there the service should have been much better, the place was not busy. Staff was too busy mopping the floors rather than taking care of customers. Food is sub par. With so many sushi joints around town I don’t feel the need to go back to Maru Japanese any time soon. Not when you pay over $20 for food that is “Meh” and crappy service

Over the years ive moved farther away, but I still make the trip out to Maru every time my friends and I are getting sushi becaus,e it's just that good. I come here often for lunch, the food is always great and the sushi rolls are quite large. However, they only fill up the spicy mayo containers half way and it's never enough. Otherwise would recommend!

Very good prices and they have little rooms that can seat four people with all of the distancing rules Some great items - BC Roll - Baked salmon roll - any of the lunch bento boxes - Agedeshi tofu

My favourite sushi spot in Langley. They are expensive like all good sushi places so don’t come expect cheap sushi. There sashimi combos are good, their rolls are great too.

Food was quite good and reasonably priced. Sashimi and rolls both were delicious. Only complaint was is that service for the first time was extremely spotty and the wait staff were extremely hard to get a hold of despite the button on the wall.

Not sure how everyone enjoyed there sushi, theres no flavor the rice from the roll tasted old, the chicken from a box i ordered was cooked waaay to fast so? Microwaved or pre cooked..

Used to be good... went there tonight for sashimi and it was served to me half frozen and tasted horrible. Couldn't eat it. I politely told our server about it and she went to talk to the manager/owner. She then came back with a bill charging me for it and didn't even offer a replacement. When I questioned her about it she told me the manager didn't care and wasn't going to do anything about it. Not even an apology. I find that highly disrespectful and will never step foot in the restaurant again. There are so many good sushi places around that u think they would be focusing on keeping customers happy.

If this is the place I think it is- a little hole in the wall, great value- 13 dollars for all you can eat sushi for lunch! It is the only place I bring my teenagers. Great quality and cute booths.

This is my favorite sushi place in langley. Ive tried them all and this is by far the best. The service is fast and great, the restaurant is classy and clean, and the food tastes the best out of any other ive tried. I go there so often that the staff remembers my order and always greets me like im a friend! If youre looking for some great sushi this is the place to go! :)

Very friendly staff. Tasty food. I really liked that you can sit in the cabin and eat. At the same time, no one will miss you to communicate and eat. In the cabin there is a bell when you need to call the waiter, which is very convenient. Small price list. We were very pleased and we will definitely return to this restaurant. And we advise everyone to try their food. Thank you.
