This Restaurant is included in the category of Steak house.
Food was very delicious. Portions were very nice, but dont expect massive amounts of meat. Chairs are hard and far too low compared to the height of thr habatchi table. Overall a great experience. We look forward to our next visit
The heat has been broken a few weeks. It was chilly inside
Best Teppen Yaki dinner ever!!!! Large portions of delicious foods. The fried rice is very different from any other, but super yummy!!!!! The service is incredible and the staff is so friendly.
Best steak around !!!
The price is good. Taste is ok for what you pay.
Best Japanese restaurant in Langley.
Excellent food and entertaining presentation.
Food is great here but we will not be returning. Used to go for special occasions all the time. Went for my husband's birthday and a friend went to pay with his card at till and leave a cash tip. When he paid by card without a tip the cashier started harassing him for not tipping. So obviously he got pissed and walked out without giving her the cash gratuity. A few of us were still at the table finishing up and unaware of what happened when the hostess came to get our bills. She starting yapping and harassing us for our friend not tipping and wanting us to give her extra gratuity from him. My husband and I tip really well but I'm sorry I'm not going to give you extra money for someone else. That's not how gratuity works... Won't ever go back after that ordeal. From now on if we ever want teppanyaki we will always go to Kobe's in Vancouver even if it is way out of the way.
Good food and good restaurant for birthdays or groups. 10 people per table, a bit expensive ($30+/person) Overall Good experience, recommended to try it.
(Translated) Great teppanuaki (Original) Great teppanuaki
Amazing food and great service
Really Good food and great staff
It was ok. The flames where high.
We had our staff party here and it was a great time. The prices are a little on the higher side but worth the value in entertainment. Our chef could have been a little more engaging but the knife skills made up for it.
Very good food and great show and service
Great food
Great food, but the portions can be inequitable sometimes. The chef's put on a great show. The restaurant has a nice feel to it. The staff are very friendly. Great place for a nice dinner with friends or family. I'm upset I never went here sooner. We will be back again.
It seemed like the chefs had done it a 1000 times. Kinda boring but the food was good.
The food was just okay, certainly not worth 40-60 dollars per entree they charge. I guess maybe it costs that because of the hibachi? i was invited there but i won't be going again on my own.
Me and my party had a wonderful time last evening! The food was delicious, and the presentation was like no other! Our chef at the table was very considerate towards both the safety and cleanliness during his preparation (including consideration for allergies that were present) alongside the spectacle and entertainment, ensuring younger guests remained entertained. Alongside this, the food was wonderful with a savoury steak and fantastic prawns as our appetizer! I will surely be returning with friends for events in the future and recommending Katana to those looking for a place to dine as well!
Amazing dinner & great service!
Excellent service and the food was delicious. Will definitely return and recommend to friends!
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent entertainment (when the chef is making the food in front of us!). Everything was well organized and very clean, very nice ambience for any occassion or group size. Prices are reasonable for the quality and preparation of the food and it's very filling! I just did the chicken entree (don't know how to spell the Japanese words) and it came with a lovely Japanese soup, salad (with a delicious and unique dressing), cooked vegetables, the option of steamed or fried rice (with eggs and vegetables-delish!), lovely traditional green tea, and the guy even gave us a few pieces of prawn to try as he was cooking some for another person. Very generous portions, I was seriously full! And it was very good, fresh food and didn't feel greasy or give you that blagh feeling after eating fast food. Great for a fun date, a birthday celebration, family dinner, honestly it'd be great for any event and they're equipped to accommodate for you! We just came straight in and they told us they start around 530pm for the actual dinners so keep that in mind (we just popped in since we hadn't been before). Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Food portion was great. Lobster, steak, chicken all tasted amazing. Only recommendation would be to serve the veggies before all the meats. Other than that, everything was on point.
Went to this place for dinner with friends for valentines day great food awesome atmosphere and very entertaining...it was so fun I came back and brought my children and mother ..it's great for all ages I would definitely recommend
The food here is absolutely incredible, the atmosphere is great, and the chefs are always super friendly and are usually willing to kanpai you with a shot of sake! My son loves the teppanyaki shows they put on, it's really fun for all ages. Prices are high, but it's to be expected for the quality of food you get. The menu really has something for everyone. Make sure you book reservations on Fridays and Saturdays as it gets very busy and there can be long waits if you're not prepared. The owner usually comes around to make sure everyone is having fun and the food is cooked well. You definitely won't be disappointed with this restaurant.
Very good food
Very fun. Very professional chef, does neat tricks!
Good food but small portion according to the price
Great japanese food with top grade steaks along with a personal chef cooling at your table.
I don't get the hype. Food is overpriced. I get that you get a show but still.
Wonderful performance dinner, very fast and courteous. Obviously not a vegetarian restaurant but the vegetables portions were good, and they accommodated my diet without issue. The food and show is worth the money
Outstanding food and entertainment.
Meal type
Japanese teppanyaki. This is our go to place whenever we visit my family in Langley. Both the food and the "show" are great.
Good performance and good food.
My favorite Teppanyaki restaurant
Definitely worth the money. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he loved it. The performance and presentation was amazing! Very nice and friendly staff.
Their filet mignon was the best I've ever had!
Went on a Wednesday night at about 5:30. Price was very high for the amount of food. $36 for steak and prawns. That is a normal price I think, but not for the small portions. The chef did his show fine enough but looked bored and miserable. There was sauce put on everything without asking us if we wanted it. If your food must be covered in sauce it makes me wonder what your covering up. It tasted alright. Not bad. But nothing special. We were in and out in 30 minutes. Was not comfortable at all. It was early and mid week so maybe busier times are more interesting. 100 dollars for 2 people and no alcohol feels pretty steep for sucj a quick in and out. But there is 1 reason that i will NEVER return here. The womans bathroom. It was the MOST disgusting bathroom I have EVER encountered. I almost lost my dinner in there. The toilets in front were COVERED in filth and I don't mean just dirt. And it wasn't new, this was build up over time. The walls never washed. The floors sticky and dirty. The taps grimy. The decor was nice but it was so full of vile filth I was stunned. When I left bathroom I took a minute to look at the floors and walls of the restaurant for the first time. And yes filthy. All i can say, If this is what the front of the house looks like, I can't imagine what the back of the house looks like. Nope. Never ever again. Please owners. Fix immediately.
If you like Teppan Yaki you will love this place. A bit pricey but worth it.
Good food
Food was great and all It's just one of the waitress at the front cashier was rude to my sister saying no tip
The best teppanyaki restaurant ever!
Food was great, portions were huge!
THIS IS THE BEST STEAK AND SEAFOOD RESTAURANT EVER! The food is was AMAZING and the price is reasonable for the high quality, fresh ingredients that makes this place special. The service is brilliant and the atmosphere in the place is exceptional. I have came here for fourteen years and have never been disappointed and I’m sure u won’t be too! (BTW, the resteraunt is very clean too).
Reminds me of Kobe restaurant in Vancouver
It's good but not Kobe's
Always amazing. Great food and the chefs are very talented. All staff were quite friendly, helpful and efficient.
Dine in
Horrible customer service. Lost our reservation for 7 that I had made a week and a half before for my husband's birthday, I called about an hour before the reservation to confirm as we had people driving 40 minutes to get there, and the woman basically was yelling at me and telling me I must not have even made a reservation because she had no record of it, and there was nothing she could do and that it was my fault.. no joke. Wouldn't take any responsibility for losing our reservation and proceeded to be extremely rude. Won't be going back here, that's for sure!
Meal type
Service was excellent ....ordered steak and prawns....prawns were excellent, steak a little tough....well priced
Can't understand why my family and friends don't like this place and say it's overpriced. I LOVE this place. They make the BEST fried rice anywhere. I'm craving it now just typing this, and the dipping sauces and the sake, oh yum!
I love Katana... the food is always so fresh and a fun overall experience. Make reservations or be ready to sit at the bar and have a few appy with maybe a cancellation
. Always delicious
Amazing food! Amazing experience! Will return again! :)
Took our 8 year old daughter here for her Birthday and had a blast. Good fun for the entire family! Food was on point, servers were on the ball and they all went out of their way to make it a special night. Very easy to make a reso and they were happy to accommodate one of the Grandparents who needs a wheelchair. We'll definitely add this place to our go-to's for special occasions.
Its very pricy, and they tend to fill you up with rice!!!
Good stuff
Great food and service
Went at 9PM and the lady didnt seat us. Says they're open til 10PM.
Food is AMAZING and the show they put on was incredible!!!!! Highly reccomend it!
AMAZING!!
The experience the service and the food was great but we were all very cold with a draft hitting us neck height. I will not go back!
Amazing place very nostalgic
Been here a couple of times. Have good experience. But last time on my birthday experience was so bad. When I book table for 12. Everything was fine. But when we come they said we have only 2 hours. I asked why they not mentioned it by phone. No answer. So..here is company of 12 eating and they come and said you have 15 min. On my friends comment that is not nice and not proper to said that. They say "So Maybe this place is not for you". I leave speeches and fill ashamed to my friends as I invite them to this place. Never going to come back
Good food, great service & experience. Great value for money. Would recommend and come back!
tldr: Chef was kind, rude and greedy server. Selective with birthday drums and desserts. Came in for my sister's birthday celebration, had a reservation for Saturday 9PM. I wanted to share some appetizers with my partner since we had a late lunch (mind you it was still above the 15$ minimum per person) and the server wouldn't accept our order. She asked us to order the bigger (and more expensive) meals. We felt really awkward but decided to listen since she knows the menu/portions better than we do. My sister's boyfriend let the server know it's her birthday while he was ordering, to which she replied "mm-hm." ....Does it hurt to say happy birthday? The food was fine, overpriced though. The chef was really kind and also asked about any celebrations and we let him know it was her bday, the performance was pretty good. The server never asked us if we wanted another drink. When our food was done she promptly brought over the bills and told us to pay at the front.. Usually for birthdays they beat some drums and give a free dessert, which they did for another table but for us... No drums. No dessert. Just eat your food and get out. Maybe the server was angry that we didn't spend more money, so she didn't tell the kitchen staff about our celebration..?? We were made to feel unwelcome and as if asking the staff for anything would be annoying. My sister said she has had good experiences here but tonight she was super disappointed. We won't be returning.
good healthy food and an awesome show!
Pricey but good
Overpriced garbage
A very good teppanyaki place in the tricity area!
not just great food but a great experience
Great place for a date or a celebration! Very expensive but good food!
Food was yummy and chef fun but our server wasn't very friendly and made us feel like we had to get out as soon as possible. Arrived a bit late for our 5:30 reservation and were told to be out by 7. Nobody else showed up after us and there was lots of room besides our table when we left.
July 31, 2020 Called to book a table for 7. I was told that they can’t fit the 7th person because the table is only for 6. I asked what about my 7th person. She said, that person can sit at another table. That was a very weird answered. Why would we let my own mother sit alone at a different table? I then offered a better solution, why don’t you split us up into 3 and 4 group but sit us closer together. She thought about it for a while then Said “No we can’t fit 3 or 4 people in a table. We can only fit 6 people. It’s not going to work for us. We can’t take your party”. Really??? So first of all, we are going to bring you customers. We are going to give you $, and have you rejected us? What kind of service is this?? We have never been to this restaurant before. We don’t know how it is but we are willing to give it a try due to “only type of restaurant” in the area. There are excellent teppanyaki restaurants but not in the area and that why we decided to give this a try. Very disappointed. I never eat at this restaurant or will recommend to anyone.
Great food quality the show the cook put on was entertaining as well. Was a little cold when I wad there but it was also not as busy as I expected may be warmer if its busy. Overall would recommend to visit.
It's one of those typical places where the chef cooks the food right in front of you. You go more for the show than the quality of the food.
Have always love coming to Katanas. Went for my birthday on Saturday with my friends food was amazing as per usual and so was our chef. Lots of entertainment as well from the overly drunk ladies across from our table, one was bare footed and I think they were in a strip joint or something????
Been going there for years for each member of our family's birthday today was mine very disappointing food quality tenderloin was rubbery the cook didn't put on much of a show just disappointing at all will never be back and will tell friends in the future not to go to this restaurant anymore for great family dining my Lobster was raw inside still I asked the cook to re grill it and he said this is the way they serve it it was still cold unimpressed
Went here with a group of 9 friends! The cook and servers were awesome! The food was cooked beautifully, the drinks were Strong and not watered down and the service was Fast! Entertaining and delicious! We frequent Kobe's in Vancouver every so often but this is just as good and way closer and a bit cheaper! Loved it!
This is an amazing restaurant. It is one of the best Japanese restaurants that I have been to. 5/5
Great food, amazing cook .. definitely will go again.
The food is good, not big portions for the money though. The show is always fun, the drinks menu is good, the people are friendly and efficient.
The restaurant is nice but the servers aren't very nice. We went on a friday night around 830 and it was pretty dead. They charged us $30 extra if you go on friday or saturday. We ordered chicken skewers (only 2 btw), beef and a chicken dish. Food was alright but had better. Thechef was lacking presence and ovrr priced just for fried rice and some beef.
Good restaurants in Langley I like it.
Great food and fun atmosphere!!
Lived the experience. Price is high but expected for the service and steak house type of serving. Only challenge is that they tend to make you leave fast...
Good food but $$$$
Worth it! Very fun for a birthday or date night. The show that comes with the food prep is fun and charming. Will go back! The chicken is good, but the shrimp was better. Excellent gyoza.
Food was fantastic and the service so entertaining.
Excellent service. Great food. Decent selection of food. Too much food!! Haha. Good showmanship of the chef. Friendly environment. Definitely higher priced $$$ but worth it. Probably only for special occasions for us. We are not rich. We will be back for sure!
Best food I've ever had
Great food and nice environment kronment
First time was great! We didn’t have a reservation but the manager was able to seat us anyway. Great service!!!
Very nice..wicket chef
Twas good food
love this place especially the fried rice!! something about the rice is addicting!
Food was good and the service and show were also good. A little costly, but as a family outing is was quite nice. Definitely nice place to go for a special occasion.
A great meal, with a show. When you're eating at Katana, make sure you're around a grill. The food itself is good, but you are paying a premium for it to be cooked in front of you and put onto your plate piping hot. Prices reflect the premium market, but aren't out of the league of a steakhouse. We were there on a Thursday night, and the place was busy, but not crammed. There was no rush to get out, and the service was reasonable. I could see having some issues on a busy weekend night. Portion sizes we're good, and I was full by the end of the meal. Worth the prices, when compared to similar restaurants.
Really great dinning experience
Good place for a group to eat.
Great food and ambiance, would definitely go again.
Love the menu options but the atmosphere and interaction from the Chef was a bit disappointing
Loved everything about it! Fantastic food, great atmosphere.
Really good food. The chef was amazing to watch. They just need to turn the heat up more on these colder winter evenings. Was a bit chilli inside. All the lady's at my table had to wear their coats.
Entertaining and delicious!
The food was fantastic. Having the chef prepare your meal right at your seat was fun.
Great tasting food and great entertainment watching the chef as he cooks right in front of you!
No options for people with dietary restrictions.
Dinner
We love the dinning experience.
Amazing good and atmosphere..
Lovely. Portions could be bigger. Not very Covid safe combining families to tables
Always a great meal and a great show , its a good night out if you have friends who have never eaten at the grill before , Cheers and happy dinning
Love the experience! Food was delicious and it's entertaining to watch them make the food & play around
Delicious Food and very professional Chefs that make your food in front of you. The Menu is straightforward if you've never been to this type of restaurant before.
Almost as good as Kobe's
Our meal was excellent. JJ was our chef, very entertaining!
Took my niece and nephew and they loved it! The food was good, the staff were friendly and attentive and the culinary entertainment was lovely. Great dining experience.
This was our first time visiting Katana. What a great experience and the food was absolutely delicious.
Delicious food
Good grill food and drinks but not the best definitely but adequate
The service was wonderful, even though it was a busy evening ( New Year's eve) . Cocktails well made, and the Ultimate Dinner, Steak, Lobster, Scallops and Prawns was entertainingly prepared and the steak, for one , melted in my mouth, it was so good. Would definitely look at having a birthday/Aniversary here.
Excellent food and very experienced chefs! A great atmosphere and excellent place for birthday party. 100% recommended!
Good times, good food. Little bit rushed tho. Busy Place so it's understood. Nice to relax after a good meal.
Dinner
We ordered the ultimate dinner . It was great but a bit small for the portion. Wish they would increase their portion
Craftsmanship at it's finest. Amazing chef presentations right infront of you. Food is good, I'd say average for an upscale place. But the presentation is top notch.
So good food and. Guy cook very good job
The best place to be so far in Langley. Great food, generous with the alcohol(if you drink) and the chefs who demonstrate and cook infront of you are amazing. I couldn't stop eating lol.
Been going for years great food great people a must go to place ...
The food was really good in flavor. The tricks the chef did at the beginning were fun. However, the portions were not distributed properly. The people at the other side of the table who were served first got more rice and vegetables and even extra scallops. Then by the time I was served (last) there was much less food. Especially the vegetables the difference was very obvious. Would be cool if the chef did some more show elements throughout. Mostly in the beginning there's fun stuff, then it's just frying the food. I've seen videos of other restaurants where there's more engagement throughout. Also, the opening hours on Google are wrong. I wanted to dine as soon as the restaurant opened as I had an extremely early start the next day so I booked for 4:30pm on Sunday. When I got there 4:25pm there were already people eating and the restaurant was half full, so I don't actually know when they opened but it definitely before 4:30pm We had the Hibachi steak, steak and scallops and the chicken.
I went there today with my friends and they were very nice. The waitress was very friendly and the food was awesome. I am definitely coming back with my friends! thank you!!
Waaay overpriced, mediocre food... service was lackluster. Disappointed.
Service
It was a great experience but expensive.
(Translated) Teppan yaki done well (Original) Teppan yaki done well
Always a good show. Our cook was phenomenal. Slid him a $50 for being so gracious!
The ultimate dinner with the best on the list
OMG! So good! First time there and loved it! So fresh and tasty! Great show by the chef too!
Pretty pricey but a nice treat, cool show
We came here for dinner after shopping at the mall nearby and the were surprised with great food and service. The meal was reasonable portion and price was a little high but we will be back
This place was a lot of fun! They sure put on a show and the food in delicious. Parking was easy too!
Dine in
I haven't been for teppanyaki in ages and after a night at Katana's I regret the hiatus! We can blame covid I guess. We went for my mother in law's birthday and everyone had a great time. They brought out drums for a Japanese birthday celebration and the chef was talented and the food was delicious. I would definitely go back.
HORRIBLE customer service. The food was fine, but before we were done eating we were told we HAD to leave. This was because they had someone waiting for a table. So instead of giving us 10 minutes to finish, we were rushed out the door. This place wants to maximize the number of customers that come and go to make money, and don’t care AT ALL about ethics or customer service. Even when we were leaving we obviously had frowns, but they didn’t care and once we paid for our food, the owners/workers were chuckling in the background. I had heard that the mangers/owners were like this, but I thought it was an exaggeration, but I was wrong! Spread the word and do not go here!
What a great evening and experience at Katana's. We brought young children for an 8th Birthday party. The staff completely accommodated all our needs and put on a very good show in this Japanese steak house. Food was prepared excellent. 5 star service all the way!
Service was poor. Food was flavorless. Go to Osaka instead.
A really fun and engaging place to eat. Quite expensive for sure but the quality of food is excellent. The chef puts on a bit of a show with some big flames and the usual choo-choo onion gag???? It's pretty loud and a bit awkward to chat in a larger group but a great night all-in-all.
Good food ok service
The portion size is great! The food was amazing and my mouth is still watering thinking about it. It is a bit pricey but you’re paying for the show, and I don’t regret going here. I can highly recommend this place, great for family events and gettogethers
As far as Tepanyaki in North America, specifically the lower mainland, this place is so-so. If you’ve never had a Tepanyaki, I’d say you would be perfectly happy here. If you’ve had it at a few different places, specifically Osaka or Kobe in Vancouver, it would be step down. The restaurant itself: very worn decor, tables, and the chairs are really too low for the table. Cleanliness is really left to be desired. Heavy grease, dirt and grime over and around the all eating areas, floors and ceiling . It was gross to look at while eating. I kept my purse on my lap. The chef was personable and genuinely fun, but the show is short lived and not as elaborate. Our waitress seemed to want to be anywhere but there. My teenage daughter said so much so, that it made her uncomfortable. We felt like we were a pain to her, and all we did was order drinks and dinner. The food seemed to be of reasonable portions for my appetite, but yes, less than other places. The weirdest thing was that the chef covered every single dish heavily in Teriyaki sauce...and I mean everything! That’s not normal for Tepanyaki. Also, I prefer the dipping sauces at other places. I had the filet, lobster and prawns. Cooked perfectly. My youngest had the chicken and loved it. The cash register staff were ver very sweet and appreciative. I had called at noon and left a message to make a reservation for that night, and they called me by 2:00 and confirmed my booking which was great. So, although it wasn’t a negative experience, it just wasn’t up to par with other places around.
Amazing as always
First time there for myself and two of my business partners. One partner had been there before. Amazing Food! Even better service!! The Culinary show from the Chef's sets it apart. A true dining experience !!! Not a romantic setting. Go with a group, bring the staff, family & friends. Everyone will be talking about it for..... We stayed for 2 hours dessert & more laughs. Lots to see and they don't rush you at all. The owner Mike even bought us a drink!! Don't take my word for it ????????????
Always good food and service.
Great place, great experience. Good portion sizes. Priced accordingly
It was decent but not like I remember. Unfortunately the rice was burnt and didn't taste the greatest. The scallops were delicious as well as the filet. I'm glad I went for the experience, but the food could have been way better for what we paid.
100,000,000/10 Amazing service! The chefs come to your table and cook the best food! They have amazing skills!
Very good no question. Also very accommodating on short notice. We make it a point to stop at a Teppanyaki restaurant throughout our travels. If 4.5 was an option, I'd give them that as they're closer to 5 than 4 but I just can't give them an outright 5 in comparison to Kobe steakhouse in downtown Vancouver or " Teppanyaki" in Regina. Great food, great service, great cook, very friendly, steak-seafood was great (as I'm sure the chicken is as well), the fried rice was excellent as well. The only "fault" is in the sauce for their veggies. It stood out as the one piece to not give the full 5 stars.
Food was excellent but pricey. Service was great and the chef was very entertaining.
Great experience for the family to say goodbye to 2020!! The chef (JJ) was super entertaining and the food, super tasty. We could've handled less of the teriyaki sauce, but everything else was perfectly cooked ???? !
Date night ???? the staff was amazing and the food was excellent. Love how they cook right in front of you !! Prices are average for a Steak House ! Worth every penny!
The food here is amazing!! Great variety of food to choose from, chefs are great & I always love the displays that they put on!
Food was excellent, presentation was excellent and our table chef was funny as hell. Great staff. Highly recommend.
Always an eating adventure
Absolutely 5 stars! This is our go to haunt, we love it!
Great
Love the food, amazing how they do it
Food was beyond small taste was bland worst of all the staff didn’t care when we voiced our issue with how loud a drunk party was at a table they acted like animals this place charges the highest price per plate in Langley with sub par food and a sports bar noise
Portions were small and service only ok, but food quality was excellent. I would like to give a 3.5... too pricey!
Everything A+
Great Valentine's Day Dinner! ????
Went on a very hot day so the temperature in the restaurant was crazy hot especially when the flames are right in front of you! But other than that the food, ambiance and service were exquisite!
Awesome experience, the chefs put on a great show and the food was tasty. Service was pretty fast. Loved it. Will definitely come back again.
Great food
Katana is always good. We love their fried rice, the seafood is sooooo... good and all the sides are flavour full. The Filet is mouth watering too. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it! The kids love it too which make the experience even better for everyone????
Great experience but personally not impressed by the quality and taste of the food...4 star for presentation
Fun lively place to eat. Expensive but its WELL worth it. Great for parties or just if you want to eat some great food and watch a show.
Food was great but expensive. Not a place to relax or enjoy an evening out. You are given 90 minutes to eat and drink. No time to socialize with your friends - very rushed. Very cold so wear a jacket as there are only a couple of space heaters in an open spaced huge room. Very, very noisy. Difficult to hear the person sitting near you. People stood behind us breathing down our necks waiting for our seats before we were finished our drinks as there is no waiting room for the next reservations. Hurry up and eat, stand in long line to pay your bill and get out. Nothing like we experienced in Japan. The stars are for the food and chef.
Very disappointed, in the food and staff.
Amazing cooks staff n food
Great food and service
Food was great. The chef show was a little lacking this time. I don't think his heart was in it.
Was very good only thing they seem to be a lot of people in the restaurant on the other side really packed in there. It tasted good however I love Kobe downtown better though.
Food was 6/10 it all tasted the same but unfortunately it was the flavor of the burnt grill. Service was 7/10 we were rushed the entire time. Our chef 4/10 had 0 showmanship had no energy or excitement like other typical teppanyaki restaurants. Price 1/10 family of 4 with 2 small kids who just had appy's we spent $155 no drinks. We were still hungry afterwards. Over all so disappointed. If food was ok but show was great it would be worth it or if food was great and show was ok but it horribly missed on both. Their tempura's were good that was worth all the 2 stars. Not worth the money for us. Table of 9 all said well that wasn't worth it and will not return.
Good food and fun atmosphere.
First time here and had a great experience. The food was cooked well and the service was great too. Would definitely return.
Best stir fry
Tasty
They turned us away at 8:40pm even though they close at 10pm. We told them that we had drove from Maple Ridge but they seemed all too happy to tell us no.
We came here for for a birthday celebration and had a great time. We were a table of 8 so we filled all the seats surrounding the grill. As soon as we sat down we were greeted promptly and the drinks were flowing after a short wait. We started off with some cold sake in a bamboo with little bamboo cut cups. My bf and I shared the Ebi Chili Mayo and Bacon wrapped scallops appetizers. The prawns were big and lightly battered, drizzled with ebi mayo all on some fresh greens. The scallops were a little small but they were perfectly cooked in their bacon blankets. The chef was very friendly and worked hard to give us a fun show. He was good with keeping us engaged and making sure the birthday boy was taken care of. I ordered the Hibachi steak teppanyaki. It was amazingly tender and flavourful. All the teppanyaki orders came with fried rice, vegetables, salad, shrimp appetizer and onion soup. We really enjoyed this teppanyaki experience and will probably be visiting again.
Tooooooo experiences and the food quality so bad .... service is bad and they ask you for the tip ,,,, never go there again
Love this place
I know people complain about the price but seriously, it’s Teppenyaki, you pay for the chef’s performance and atmosphere. I’ve been here for a birthday and for NYE, both times we were greeted promptly, seated, and staff had the food out in minutes. Staff clearly are used to guests taking photos, advising when they are lighting fires.
Blue jeans and t shirt atmosphere and lacking ambience. Very cold with wives wearing their coats. Food was OK. A very noisy establishment that lacks any form of intimacy and we would not return.
I visited on December 26. They had pneumatic barstools that we used instead of booster seats.
Dirty bathroom, decor aged and unkempt. Poor service, we waited so long for drinks and heat! They also let us sit there breathing the propane in while we waited for a chef. Go to Richmond, it's worth the drive
Very tasty,highly entertaining,worth a visit
Good food and good service
Great food, great service, but super cold inside and they don't provide a complimentary birthday dessert or anything for a birthday guest.
Always a pleasure to dine at Katana, good was delicious as usual.
You rock Ray
Great place for Langlay! Cool to know I can get some teppanyaki locally ! Great food and service .
wow. filet was so tender, the rice amazing and the chef was funny as he cooked for us infront of our eyes! sake was nonstop and the beer was cold. thanks for a great birthday(pics on walls a cool touch)
The show was phenomenal, food outstanding, the only problem I had was the parts that got done first were cold by the time the last items made it on the plate, but that is a very minor detail
Amazing food and great service.
Really good food. Just the wait times is very long especially if you don't have a reservation.
The food is incredible and the show while the chef prepares your meal in front of you was fantastic! Excellent service and adherence to social distancing in the restaurant. Great place for an awesome evening and worth a visit. I know I'll be back!
Perfect place a family outing, staff as always was fantastic. Dinner and a volcano onion how can you go wrong.
Good
Sooo good. It is quite pricy but worth it for the quality of food and the experience. The cbefs cook the food in front of you, and they do it with art and finesse:)
Great cooking display! Food was delicious!
I love the show that the chefs put on whenever I attend birthday/corporate parties. The food is delicious. I really enjoy the chicken and plan on taking my boyfriend there for his 21st birthday. Also noteworthy is their ice cream.
Great food and staff was very friendly. Would recommend to anyone
Katana has never failed to deliver the best service. The food is always amazing as are the cooks and waitresses.
Good show and amazing food
Great show!
Good food and portion can be increased a little bit more ????
Overpriced for mediocre food. I got the steak and scallops, wife got the prawns and chicken. Everything was lacking flavor and overcooked. Those who have been to a good teppanyaki restaurant before will know this is below average.
When we come to Langley we always come here for teppanyaki.
Great food, great service and an awesome show. Great experience overall.
My absolute favourite - wish i could eat there everyday
Nothing spectacular. Food is okay prices are expensive. You get a bit of a show with the cook, if you're impressed by that sort of thing. It takes a while to get your food especially if the group is big so be prepared to wait. Good place for a date night but not the best if you're just hanging with friends.
Only one word to describe this place: amazing
Food was amazing as always . Ultimate combo. Filet , lobster . Scallops, pawns . And the cooking show to go with it.
Usually really great but service was rushed this time around.
Food was okay, but strangest thing..moved us from our party to join another random table. Making us basically seperate from our party. Ruined the night. Especially because we were only there for the dinner and wouldnt be able to go out afterwards with the party. Wont be back.
It was our first visit to Katana. We tried the Hibachi steak (sirloin) and the Filet mignon (tenderloin), both rare, which is the only way to cook good steak, imho. Sirloin was good, but as always, the tenderloin was even better. Our chef put on a great show, and was especially charming to the children present. Everything was very good, and we plan to return with a larger party next time.
Really sub par food. The place has questionable cleanliness with a Korean owned team. The table side chefs were hospitable and the part where the cooking surface catches fire was the best part. But man the quality of the food was a real sad let down. I bypassed dessert just to walk away. Will not be going back.
Had a great night out, great food and service.
So yummy
We reserved for 6pm and upon arrival at 6pm they told us we have to leave by 7pm. They really rushed it to get our order, and it was just the weirdest experience. Food was great.
Great show and perfectly cooked food
I took my kids here expecting that they can enjoy the teppanyaki experience. For one you are seated with other groups and our chef barely did any tricks and the food wasn't worth the prices. Overall pretty disappointed.
Seriously good eats. Our chef jj always listens and remembers. I always ask for a raw filet mignon and he always delivers. The fried rice is to die for. And that mustard sauce......soooooo good.
Overall great experience. My sister took us here for my birthday as a treat. The tricks the chef did was enjoyable and made dinner entertaining. Favorite is definitely the onion volcano. The chef actually re-did one of the tricks because my mom missed taking a picture and was appreciated. I think everything we ordered turned out really great. Had garlic shrimp, calamari and scallops for appetizers. Only thing Ithink they could improve would be more sauce on the garlic shrimp but, overall the appetizers were delicious. The main dishes we had were also great. We ended up sharing our order between all us (the meats were portioned between the people there) so we all had a taste of the steak, filet mignon, chicken, scallops and prawns. The meats were all tender and well seasoned. Not much to say about the fried rice and veggies. I think I would have like to have veggies sooner as it basically finished cooking at the end. Would have liked to eat these along with the meats but, not a deal breaker. Overall, great place to enjoy tepanyaki. Staff is great and friendly. Had a great time!
Neat experience watching the chef cook just a couple feet from you. A bit pricey but worth the experience. Be mindful of the angle of the sun though as they don't have blinds so it could be difficult seeing the chef depending on your table viewing.
No privacy, limited time in the restaurant, broken, dirty and to low chairs according to the table height. Joined table with strangers. No hangers for jackets or place to put purse, too expensive for a plate of food which you need to eat in limited time. Can't have conversation with people you come , everyone else is sitting at your table , very uncomfortable place. Waitresses walking behind your back touching your clothes with dirty dishes.
A great time with my family. What a blast, awesome food and service.
Amazing food and dine in , expensive . Get what u pay for though
Highly recommend. It isn't cheap but it is a very enjoyable meal.
Only great for special occasions. Food wasn't bad but I'm sure you're paying the high prices for the show.
Never been to a habachi restaurant before and I can surely say it was entertaining. Food was mouthwatering and the chef put on a great show. Steak and prawns were cooked perfectly with a choice of steamed rice or fried rice.
The show was nice, unfortunately the food is a wee bit bland.
Delicious and better prices than the Vancouver teppan yaki restaurants
Service
Very good
Always good food! Attentive service. Fun for kids too!
LOVE the food, great experience.... BUT i was appalled by how my Fiance and i were treated there. After our dinner was done (we had a party of approx 22 people) i went a paid the bill.. it came to $100 so i tipped $15. I go to the bathroom, i come back and my fiance is rushing me out the door. We get in the car where he proceeds to tell me that the waitress came up to him and infront of all our friends asks why the tip wasn't big enough. A) NEVER ASK FOR MORE MONEY AS A TIP B) Why would you call someone out? C) MAKE SURE YOU ARE TALKING TO THE RIGHT PERSON IF YOU ARE CALLING THEM OUT because $15 on a $100 bill IS 15% (considering the service wasn't the greatest near the end for getting drinks refilled) I am shocked a restaurant would embarrass a customer like that and demand a tip isnt big enough for them. I will never be going back there anymore as that is just ridiculous and rude. (we go quite a bit so i will be going to KOBE's downtown instead)
Dinner and a movie, what more do you need
A delightful dining experience from the spinning spatula in skilled hands and the burst of introductory flame on the grill to the deliciously prepared food that was completed in front of us. Contrary to another's post, I found the portions to be quite adequate. Anything more would be gluttonous. We will most definitely make the drive again to visit this place!
Great always
Giving it 4 stars reason for 4 stars, the cooks need to be more entertaining they should interact more with the guest also they should at least smile!! Both of our cooks we had seemed as they did not want to be there whatsoever! Aside from that, food was delicious! We normally go to Kobe's we decided to try katana as a change. food like I said no disappointment but entertainment was a 1 out 5 sorry guys.
Top place
Great food! Felt a bit rushed. I wish they didn't rush the overall experience. I understand with Covid, restaurants have a maximum of 1.5-2 hours. But as soon as we sat down the waitress came to take our drink order - I hadn't even opened up the drink menu. Not even a few minutes later, she took our food orders. I didn't expect to be in and out within 40 minutes. Katanas has excellent food but please slow down so your customers can enjoy the overall experience.
terrible experience for this restaurant I will never ever come here again
Great! Highly recommended. Show was great. Our family loves this restaurant.
First time here, it was super empty because me and my date were the first ones however a couple joined us shortly when we were seated. I absolutely enjoyed every part. Honestly the mini fire show plus the way the food is served leaves you coming back for more. Only thing off putting was that the server didn’t take my fork away after the appetizers so I used that fork for my main also, normal protocol is to switch the cutlery when mains arrive. That was minor it was still a place I’ll come back too!
Fantastic. Our kids loves the show and the food was to die for. Prices beat any teppanyaki place across our local bridges. Impressed by the staffs level of attention to every need. Thank you for a night to remember. We will return soon!!
Went there Nov 2016 with family. Staff greeted us but was surprised that we didn't have a reservation at 5pm on Sunday night. Hostess emphasized we can only sit on this half of the table and promptly sat another family right next to us. We had been there about 5 times before. The food isn't that great compared to other teppanyaki restaurants, but it was close to home so we reluctantly went there again. The portion was small and the price was very high. The chef was not bad, but he didn't spend much time entertaining us. Other tables got longer and more personable show. We have 2 little children and so we share meals when we go out as we don't like to waste food. The hostess, the server, and chef were very rude that we didn't each order full plates and didn't know what to do and showed us that they were displeased with our decision at every chance they got. Our bill was $70, they charge $3 for a cup of rice btw, and the family next to us was $180 (because they were pressured into ordering full plates for even the kids). Needless to say that family had to bring home leftovers. Then when it came to pay, the server was rude and said the service charge is not included. I had to explain to her why she didn't deserve any tips after making us feel so uncomfortable and the service was so poor. Just to think that these gals have the nerves to serve us so badly and demand large tips. She couldn't comprehend the logic. If you decide to go here, don't feel bullied into tipping until their service and attitude improves. Tips are earned not automatically given! I will never come back to this restaurant. Who needs to pay $200 for dinner and get mediocre food and servers with attitude? I had to fill up on rice because their meat and seafood portion was so small. There are many other options out there. Try the Osaka teppanyaki in Vancouver, it has better food, at similar price, no attitude.
(Translated) Best Teppen Yaki dinner ever !!!! (Original) Best Teppen Yaki dinner ever!!!!
Back in late 2017 I visited this place for a birthday party, The décor and atmosphere along with the chef's showmanship were amazing, unfortunately this would be the last time I would step foot into their establishment. After some miscommunication upon ordering I received the wrong appetizer, before eating it I decided to tell them I had not ordered this, the verdict given that it was my fault and that there was nothing to be done or refunded. I was not happy with that response. I continued to choose my main course from their overpriced menu. ($30 minimum half chicken breast). At the end I was confronted with a (Can't remember) %16-%18 percent tip. My bill totaled over $100 for such a negative experience and I decided to talk to the manager and she shrugged me off. Disgusting. I hope others realize before going here that it really is over priced and when it comes down to it the people that work there don't care at all about customers. Eater beware your in with no care.
This place is awesome. I always get fillet steak and chicken combo. The fillet is the best steak you will eat! the food is amazing the staff is super nice. The chiefs are very talented i really enjoy it here
Ovr priced. Great atmosphere
Very good food and a fun place to go don't for get to make reservations
A bit pricey, it should at least come with a drink and a dessert with the meal.
Personality of the chef was awesome!! Great service alot of fun food was amazing a definite return
Great experience good food little bit pricey for fried rice
Very entertaining chef skinny Ray, attended with a anniversary party 25 + people had chicken and steak Dinner and samplings of seafood added.. enjoyed the rice & vegetables
Great night out and the Ultimate Dinner was fabulous!
Food was good, but our teppanyaki chef seemed inexperienced and didn't put on a very good show. We would have preferred someone a bit more entertaining as that's part of the dinner experience!
Wonderful atmosphere staff very polite chef was very entertaining and kind had a greatmeal
Absolutely fantastic food. Awesome environment. Fun for everyone. Perfectly cooked food all around. Kinda pricey tho. Worth the price. very happy customer.
Love the food, love watching the chef make our food in front of us, and the way the chef interacted with us (especially with the demonstration of their skill). It was truly amazing
Cool concept, I always liked teppan style dining. Table wasnt ready 15 min after we showed up for reservations. Then we waited for an hour for our turn, but we'd seen the show already at three other tables. The chef was great, engaging. The food, run of the mill stir fry, but go for the show. Expensive, but as a special occasion.
Went here a few weeks ago for a birthday dinner. It was freezing inside the restaurant but the food was good as always. Prices have dramatically increased, though the experience left us feeling a little over extended for what we received.
Loved it cant go wrong
Fantastic food and great service.
Amazing as always, great food and awesome service!
Great food, for the price of great food
Very pricey but great food and experience
Dishes served too quick. Felt like I was eating fast food.
Great birthday celebration with family and friends. Thanks for the treat and a wonderful night out.
Good food and atmosphere. Getting rushed out kind of sucked but we did probably run a bit long. Will be back for sure
Great food and impeccable service.
Good for a Langley teppanyaki joint
Amazing showmanship, wonderful customer service and truly delicious meals!
Good food! Great atmosphere!
Decent teppanyaki spot. Food is plenty, chef "show" is just so so, nothing amazing. Make reservations or you'll be disappointed.
Lll
Amazing food, great service and a very exciting show. Wonderful experience. The food was very tasty. From dinner to dessert. Try to save some room for dessert! Definitely recommend!
Great place, we got in without a reservation and not much of a wait. Food was delicious and the chefs presentation was a great experience. Drinks were pricey and table service could be better. Worth the visit for a special occasion!
Always leaved stuffed and happy
One of my favourites!
Best place to eat by far
Fun atmosphere to go to with friends. Fresh, good quality food at a reasonable price. Definitely going back here again.
A great Tepanyaki experience, with reasonable prices, close to home. We'll be there again with our kids!
Friendly staff, delicious food and great atmosphere
One of the more fun and unique dining experiences in Langley City!
Very fun dining experience!
Very tasty and beautiful foods, they demonstrate very high service for esch visitors!!! Great Katana Team!!
Everyone must try this awesome restaurant out
Great good and fair prices
Delish food and friendly staff
This was a wonderful experience and the food was delicious. The show is half the experience as it is just so entertaining to watch. I have suggested it to several friends as it definitely is an experience you won't forget!
