They make amazing pupusas and great chicharron. Their small menu is really refreshing, they know what they can cook and they're great at it. The staff is very kind and welcoming, in addition im always greeted with a smile. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained. I definitely recommend eating here, or to go, with friends and/or family!

Wow. What a pleasant little restaurant!! At once full of culinary surprise, everything was delicious and the Salvadoran waitress was delightful and charming......why there is not a line up to get in, I do not understand. The place was empty at 1900 on a Saturday. Two of us shared the yucca porc and a puposa; we had two exotic and wonderful non alcoholic iced drinks [loroco and tamarind] and we could not have eaten another bite. Very well served and all that for under 30 bucks for both of us including a 20% tip. Want great food, some novelty tastes, great price and service....then try it....just do it..you will not regret this little jewel!

I noticed this place before and I like the modern decor and the clocks on wall displaying the time in several Latin American capital cities is a nice touch. I never did get a chance to pass by, but now post CoVID things have changed. Most restaurants take a day or even two off during the week, but these guys take three. How do they expect to make bank? Restaurants have been permitted to allow dine-in options, but they stubbornly refuse. Even ordering take-out is a hassle because they keep their door locked and won't take any orders unless you call them. I only tried their juice menu but I love their tamarin and sapote juices. I wanted to get a cashew/pineapple drink when I ran into problems. I was standing in the door while the guy was mopping the floor during business hours, even after he opened the door he wouldn't take my order and couldn't even check to see if they had it in stock unless I called, so I gave up. This must frustrate their customers and delivery guys to no end. McDonald's can afford to act like this because they get government subsidies and bailouts, but independent restaurants? You'd think they'd be more attentive. Makes no sense. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great but the customer service has to improve or they're going down.

We can't eat inside due to covid restrictions. But pupusas taste great. They have the pupusitas are a great options. I liked the box with pupusitas, yuca, plantain. I got it with the regular pupusas and it was enough for two. We ate well.

The burrito is the size of a small newborn baby. It tasted great too! Will surely come back and try more of the menu. There's plenty of parking in front of the restaurant (watch out for the potholes though!). Covid-19 Info: You need to call ahead to place your order. Paying by card is possible.

Just on sheer value alone, 2 can eat until your jaws or bellies throw in the towel for ~$30. Pupusas are unique, chicharrones are delectable, Yuca tasty and service is super friendly. The decor is representative of the food-- simple and unassuming. No fancy hamfisted bullshit or scammy 'tapas'. You can tell this stuff doesn't get anymore authentic... it really is like walking into a small eatery in central America. Unfortunately many hidden gem restaurants in LaSalle like La Guanaquita have short lifespans and don't even see their first birthdays. I just sincerely hope that won't be the case for the lowkey Salvadorian joint. If you don't feel like cooking, or ordering the same old boring greasy nitrate-riddled pizza, do yourself a favor and stop by before it's gone.

I got the boite de degustation and horchata/cebada. All great, definitely love the pupusitas. Not sure if their chicharones is specific to El Salvador, but not what I was used to.
