It's not the best pizza I ever had, but I have to say that the concept is nice. It is kind of a lebanese/italian restaurant, the pizza recipes are cool and unexpected (in a good way). Cocktails are cool as well. The place is really reasonably priced, especially the cocktails, and service is good.

I suggest trying one of their more unique gourmet pizzas, it can be an interesting adventure. Atmosphere is cozy and warm. Pizza crust is cooked perfect and not too moist (for being thin crust with sauces/toppings on top).

Five of us showed up on a Saturday at about 3:00 pm. There were lots of tables free, but the waitress would not take us. She said that the restaurant was completely booked. We pointed out all the empty tables buy she would not relent. Fortunately we persisted and learned that the bookings started at 6:00. In other words, this particular waitress was going to forgoing customers because of bookings even though there was a three hour gap available. Once she made us promise that we would leave by 5:45, she accepted us. As we were only going to have a pizza, and needed to be elsewhere at 5:00, we were more than happy to agree.

Unique food fired pizzas, nice staff, and a great location by the marina in downtown Kingston. I had the "Guglielmo" which was really good but my girlfriend ordered the "Nonna Mela" which was amazing! I would go back to have the Nonna Mela again. My only negative was that it was a really hot day outside and since it's a wood fired pizza place it was a bit hot inside.

This is one hell of a restaurant. The staff are thoughtful and don't rush you to pick up your plate for the next customer. The food was incredible. Never had fusion food before but when I come back I will definitely be back to eat here again . Thanks for the experience

We thought we wouldnt be able to get in when asked if we had a reservation but they had a table ooen. Very cool atmosphere. Of course we both got pizza. I have to say were very good. Coming straight out of the wood fire oven they were nice and hot. The prices were reasonable for such a nice experience.

Blackened chicken with spring greens and goat cheese in a freshly baked focaccia in a brick oven cooked on wood. Pizza is sooo delish. Ordered Polpetta pizza - pomodoro sauce, mushrooms, mozzarella meatballs..we added carmelized onions. Maybe not the best in town, but definitely worth a visit or 5!!! It is on the pricey side, and quite popular, so make reservations in advance. #satisfied #localguide

My wife and I have been going to Wooden heads for over 20yrs. I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. The service is always impeccable. We were there tonight for my son 15th. Also his first choice in town to eat. On to the next generation.

A bit busy, which is not a problem and totally understandable, it was the way the staff reacted to said busyness that was slightly annoying. The food and drinks were great, our server was awesome, but everyone else was kind of crabby. You want to be busy, it sucks to feel like you are in the weeds, but you have to soldier on...or take away tables if it's such a problem ???? We wanted to eat there bc I am obsessed with pizza, but were further convinced because EVERYONE else we talked to in Kingston recommended that place first without prompt. There are worse things than busyness in the service industry....

Woodenheads is a Kingston classic. The place is always packed, but it never feels overcrowded. The wine selection is always on point and the food is nothing short of fantastic. I've only ever had stellar service here. If you're looking to eat here on a weekend for dinner, definitely call ahead and make a reservation. They book up FAST.

Service was fantastic! The waitstaff were very friendly, helpful, and professional! The atmosphere was very lovely, and the window seats are particularly awesome. The pizza was good, but I wasn’t blown away, I found the my dough wasn’t cooked the way I enjoy/expect pizza to be cooked (there was lots of flower on the bottom and it tasted a little doughy). But the price was fair, definitely a place to try, but don’t expect anything revolutionary.

Went there for the first time tonight and had a great experience! My boyfriend & I were seated at the bar because we did not have a reservation but even then we were lucky to be seated so I can't complain about that. The food and the service were amazing. The staff were very friendly and personable. As this is a gourmet restaurant the price was higher than your average pizza place but well worth it. We did not have to wait long for out food or drinks. I would definitely recommend making a reservation to anyone looking for a good time.

A famous pizza place in Kingston. This place is always busy, especially in the summer when many tourists visit Kingston. In the winter, this is also a favorite place for university students and their parents. Our pizza lunch (tradizionale pizza) and Caesar salad were good. We sat in the outdoor patio area and it was a fun atmosphere.

Pizza is good here but staff leaves A LOT TO BE DESIRED. Have tried to make reservations and was told by female waitresses that they are booked up for reservations 3 weeks in advance. So we call to make a reservation from home only to be told they only take reservations 7 days in advance. Obviously the staff at wooden heads needs some customer service training. So we made our reservations for 8 at another restaurant that was very professional and accommodating.

What a fantastic experience! Our crew was craving some Italian and we were blown away. The quality of food was outstanding, and for a decent price!! We all really enjoyed the time and effort spent on this menu and man does it reflect in flavours. Brian our bartender was so on point from start to finish. His welcoming spirit and superb recommendations is one of the many reasons we'll be back. I also want to notice the host who went out of his way to get us a table when the restaurant was full. Super courteous and genuine. Last but certainly not least a big shout out to the sweetheart of a server who wasn't even attending to us noticed we had dropped the key to our hotel room. All and all if you want an amazing dining experience, look no further! :)

Good food. Service isn’t great. We always feel like we’re rushed and are constantly reminded that our reservation will only last a certain amount of time. I understand that they are a business and they need to move customers out to get new ones, but for an expensive restaurant such as this, it leaves a bad feeling when the first thing you’re told as you walk in is that “you have to leave in an hour and a half” This has happened multiple times.

Seating was kind of a nightmare, but we only had a 20 minute wait on a Friday night for a table of 3, so Id say thats great. This is not your local pizza place: it will have toppings you've never seen and have no idea what they are, but just ask questions! The staff was so attentive and helpful, and the end result was an amazing meal.

Wooden Head's Pizzas are, above all, the best in the city. After visiting Italy, I have had a difficult time finding delicious equivalent pizza and... low and behold... Wooden Head's. Great for lunch meetings or romantic dinners. Service is great. The atmosphere is delightful. The only drawback, in my opinion, is how tight the seating arrangement is. Nonetheless... my favourite pizza in town!!!!

I've stopped in here a few times for coffee. The coffee is fresh as they promise but I would not describe it as my favourite java joint. The restaurant would be closer to its 'fresh' promise if it found a local roaster (I'm making an assumption here - but the coffee needs to at least taste as though the beans are still fresh).

Very little gluten free options. If you're looking ti get a pizza go elsewhere ! Otherwise Ive tried other things and they arent fantastic but they were worth the price. Looking forward to seeing more options on the menu!

The service that we got here was AMAZING. There was a slight delay with getting our pizzas out to us (like 15 minutes), so they comped our drinks, gave us appetizers to tide us over, and then gave us 5 massive desserts. It was amazing. In terms of food quality, the pizzas were good, but not the best I have had. Desserts were very tasty, and extremely decadent (hard to finish after eating a full pizza). I highly recommend this place (make a reservation if going at night).

First and for most the service was excellent, I had a issue with my order and the server was extremely nice and helpful. I felt terrible about sending food but she was very nice took that off my order and made an excellent recommendation for my next choice. Good food just quite pricey for all items ( $8 more for adding chicken or shrimp to a salad) seemed a bit high. But others at table had good quality food.

Excellent Pizza. 100% recommend trying the food here. You can pick from several pizzas or use their ingredients to choose your own to be made in the wood oven. Great selection of cocktails and wines. The Calamari is very good too.

Wooden Heads is superb. We had the Calamari Mumbai as a starter, followed by the Arbre Amore pizza. Both exceeded expectations. The calamari was tender, with a wonderful spicy tomato sauce, and slices of soft white naan. The pizza was thin crust, with generous quantities of artichoke and other toppings. Filling for two people, and reasonably priced.

Small space makes accessibility limited and very loud. Thus, not a quiet spot to dine and converse. Prices average $23+, including specials, but pizza selections in the teens. Diverse menu, vegetarian options and sharable portions make it a selection that is likely to please everyone in your group.

Drinks came quickly and the food was just what we wanted after walking throughout downtown trying to find a restaurant with a table. Wooden Head's was the only restaurant who made an effort to accommodate us and it was well worth our efforts.

Great location, perfect for some Kingston waterfront strolling. The servers were courteous and pleasant. The restaurant was packed; our party of three lucked into a table without a wait, though space to get into our seat was pretty tight without bumping into the next table. I think I would have preferred a seat in the lower street level for the view, though the second level had easy access to the bear, cool view of the brick oven and the stairs to the washroom in the rear stairs. We weren’t told about the specials, so we just chose from the menu. We didn’t see any pasta on the menu so we chose the seafood risotto. We also got the Monet pizza with spicy salami (every bite so scrumptious) and calamari (not breaded, with spicy tomato sauce and Naan bread). Only when we were waiting for our orders did we see the specials written on the board, which had pasta! Lesson learned to ask next time, but I also wonder if we could have been offered. Calamari was perfectly cooked, soft not squishy or rubbery and sauce had the right amount of tang. The seafood risotto was good comfort food. The scallops and shrimp had a good balance of flavour, not at all too fishy.

We visited for lunch today and sat on the patio. Our server was friendly and quick to bring our water and cocktails. Our beers were very cold and served with frosty glasses! We started with coconut shrimp which were crispy and delicious. My husband enjoyed his spicy salami pizza and my caprese salad with chicken was fresh and yummy! We would definitely go back again:)

Every time I visit Kingston, Wooden Heads is on my short list of places to visit. The pizza is phenomenal and the drinks are great. It's the first wood fire pizza I'de eaten, and still one of the top. The desserts, though, are where Wooden Heads shine. Their chocolate lasagna is simply one of the greatest desserts I've ever had. The restaurant itself is modern looking, along the waterfront, and cozy. Highly recommended for any outing- even just for dessert!

Good pizza, although I was expecting better given the restaurant's popularity. Not a huge amount of vegetarian choices, but you can make your own which gives plenty of options, so you can replicate pizzas but without the meat. Reservations are a must.

I first ate at Wooden Heads when i attended Queens years ago (it opened while I was there). It was my favourite restaurant while I was at Queen's. Favourite pizza was the Bambino, favourite appetizer was coconut shrimp. They are still on the menu - why mess with a good thing. Recently ate there and they did not disappoint. Was delicious! Great location right downtown. Has a patio. Great service. Highly recommend you reserve a table as this is a very popular restaurant.

Great place, excellent food, great service! Each of us had a personal pizza. Arrabiata, Margherita, Greek were the selections. We just came back from Italy this summer and all agreed that this pizza was better than any of the outstanding pizzas we had in Italy. You won't be disappointed. $68 for 3 including drinks and one dessert shared.

Wooden heads has a lovely patio overlooking downtown Kingston. They follow covid regulations, but we didnt find the staff very friendly with how they enforce the rules. We do understand that their hands may be tied, but we have experienced more friendly restaurants in these uncertain times. The food was okay, but pricey.

Stopped off at this restaurant during our road trip, and it was worth the detour. There is a large selection of pizzas, ranging from $16-25, as well as a few side dishes. The serving staff was prompt and friendly, and the food came out quite quickly. The only downside is it is difficult to find parking!

I just loooove this place. It is a pioneer village, put together by teachers, house by house moved from other parts of Ontario. The volunteers are dedicated and knowledgeable, they bring the village to life. It is open year round with regular special events. Good pizza but there needs to be a maximum price on the build your own pizza as it can get more expensive then the most expensive pizza on the menu pretty quickly. Doesn't make sense charging for every topping after a certain point.

Huge selection on the menu, and the wait time from ordering to having fresh pizza on the table is usually only about 5 minutes. Have yet to come across any other pizza restaurant quite like this. The pork tenderloin was the star of the night. It was a savoury-type dish. You had the arugula sitting at the bottom, and it was topped with pesto cream. They pair this with the pork tenderloin, which, I must say, was cooked to perfection. I'd say that the sweet and creamy cream sauce with the pasta and pork made for a symphony of flavours. You had a sweet and savoury taste and it was just so delicious. I highly recommend this dish when you come here.

Not only is it the oldest institution in North American history, but Christopher Columbus himself - Italian as pizza - had to bow down before such magnificence. A Canadian monument absolutely worthy of the first ever capital of the Kingdom of Canada.

I have been to Woodenheads twice now, so I know it wasn't a mistake how good it was the first time. The second time going was just as delicious. The pizza I had had an apple butter sauce, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and blackened chicken. The heat of the chicken was cut down by the sweetness of the sauce and overall I'd say it's one of the best pizzas that I have ever ate. Coupled with a good beer from their diverse bar menu and beer selections it was a great experience and I will get back. I'd strongly encourage making reservations as the restaurant is small and always packed!

After having had pizzas at more places than I can count, came across the Wooden Heads Gourmey Pizza today @ Kingston, Ontario. Went in with some high expectations looking at the good ratings and reviews this place had. Ratings and Reviews don't do justice to this place. This place had amazing ambience if you get a seat inside, but the Pizza is absolutely phenomenal. I can say this without a doubt that this was the best Pizza I have ever had.

Is it comparable to places in bigger cities? No. Is it delicious regardless? Yes! Price is a bit steep but I would definitely go if I wanted to treat myself and friends. Personally, some of the pizzas have weird combinations but you can always substitute. Also, the menu is a bit overwhelming but the staffs are nearby to help.

Went to the restaurant on a recommendation by a friend. Was traveling alone so sat at the bar. Restaurant was extremely busy and I'm told this is very common during the summer season. You can make reservations. The restaurant is close to the four major hotels in the downtown area of Kingston. Easy to walk to on a nice night. I felt the prices were reasonable and the portion size was appropriate. Waiter was Paul who was also managing the bar. He was busy but took time to have conversation and make a few of us at the bar feel welcome. I had one of the pizzas and would recommend if you are going to attend the restaurant this should be your choice. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and worth a try.

5 Star pizza & salads. Fresh, very nicely prepared and just delicious. This restaurant is BUSY, to get a seat inside best make a reservation days in advance. Outside seat is first come first served, you might get lucky or have to wait for 30-40 mins for a lunch seat. Service is generally very good but be prepared for expected waits when the restaurant is busy - nothing out of the norm. One caution- the table out in the back area (behind the regular dining area) are open to multiple exchange fans - it's very LOUD and felt to me like eating in an alleyway. I would recommend an inside dining room seat. If you are a Shiraz fan - the Kingston Estate shiraz was popular with our table.

There is a reason this place has so many good reviews. I have tried four pizzas from here so far and every one has been fantastic. My favourite has by far been the Dynamo, but I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you choose. One piece of advice is to reserve a table here as early as possible (over a week in advance ideally) it is always packed and hard to get a walk-in table.

We had family visiting from out of town who wanted to go there for lunch (a friend from Ottawa had strongly recommended it). It was a very busy day and they didn't have a table for 8. No problem, we asked to have 2 tables of 4 (empty tables in front of us). We were told that they try not to do that, because it is confusing for the waiter. I offered to pay the bill from one table and give my credit card to the other waiter. I was told they were not supposed to do this. I finally asked the manager to come out, I really thought it was a misunderstanding...turning away 8 customers. Unfortunately the manager never came and we went to the restaurant across the street. They were happy to find us a table.

The food is spectacular. I've had their pizza (Bambino) and tried their pesto pasta with blackened chicken, both of which were phenomenal. Its ready pretty quickly and is always delectable. Prices aren't too bad and the service is friendly and helpful. Definitely a spot to try when you're in Kingston.

By far the best pizza in the province. At first I wasn't sure about going to that place as I always used to eat "cheap" pizza. Then my girlfriend won and we went for a nice evening. I was surprised to see how that place was. I understood why we needed a few days ahead reservation. It was popular and crowded but we didn't suffocate. It was clean, the food smelled good and the waitresses were doing a really good job. I ordered a "duck" pizza and it was by far the best pizza I have ever had. Little pricy however worth every penny. Will definitely go again.

The best pizza I have ever had. I ordered a Dynamo and my wife a classic pepperoni, but the Dynamo was the star. As soon as it hit the table the pepperoni was forgotten (though we took it home later and it was a classic done to perfection EVEN REHEATED in our own oven). Wooden Heads knows their pizza and their audience. Server and service was great without interrupting the meal often. It is a busy place, so go with an empty stomach, and if there is a wait just go for a stroll down the lovely waterfront and you will be primed to enjoy this spot :)

This is a must do when you are in Kingston but plan ahead because it is ALWAYS busy. The pizza is on par with any of the other best places I have been. The chicken, pesto, honey pizza is my favorite. Visit 2: Stuck with the dynamo but tried a blue crab special pizza and the meatball special.

One of the most authentic gourmet pizzas I’ve had in a long time, reminded me of a trip to Florence. The staff & service are great, they have a road side patio and seating in the back if you’re looking for something more private. Very diverse menu, including a lot of vegetarian options and make your own pizza option (works well with kids)! Loved the iced coffee!

Wanted a quick bite to eat so walked over to Wooden Heads because the reviews on Google we're stellar. Around 8pm it was a 15 minute wait so I decided to get a drink. When my pizza was ready, I realized they forgot the pepperoni. They comped me 100% (even my drink) because they "don't toloerate mistakes." Really great pizza and the boccohini is amazingly fresh! MUST EAT!!

I've had pizza from many places... Most notably, Napoli, Italy and throughout the Mediterranean! I can say, Woodenheads definitely has the most 'authentic' pizza you can get if you want it. They have their own spin and very unique gourmet pizzas as well and they're all fantastic. If you want a truly savoury pizza... This is the place. Only gripe - Cost. It can be pretty pricey for a pizza! That said, split it up and use it for dinner and then lunch the next day and your value increases.

We got word to reserve seats, so I phoned on a Sunday afternoon, netting the last two chairs at the bar. Our bartender Brian, a Wooden Heads veteran, took our orders for two of the house’s specialty, individual custom pizzas, baked with thin crust in a large brick oven centre stage. One with fresh basil, goat cheese and excellent sauce ; the other with lobster sauce and a mild cheese plus broccolini. A bottle of vintage Malbec from a good wine list was ordered, followed by a chocolate mousse dessert. All delicious. Somehow he kept up with a line of chatter and good cheer, serving beer and mixed drinks, answering the phone, keeping the servers going, all in a boisterous full pub atmosphere. Busy but fun, we’d go back.

MOUTH WATERING! The service was amazing, we had never been here so had no clue, the server (sorry totally forgot her name) was incredibly helpful in suggestions for what to try and how it'd taste. Pizza was perfectly cooked, their "superdynamite" with smoked mozzarella was perfect for spice and cheese blend levels for what we always crave! :P It will be a go-to place for sure when we cannot think of any place.

If you are on your own and you would to have a meal, don't think of this place. I asked for a table for one and the staff refused to let me sit outside even at the small table. I was ok to sit inside but then the hostess told me that they need the table "soon" so I have to hurry. Thats not something I expected from a restaurant that many people recommended to be honest. It's a shame because their food is great with a good variety of choices.

As I often do when in a restaurant, I ordered pizza, specifically the Sicilia. The crust was thin, but not too thin that it is a mere wafer nor a thing and formless nothing. The pizza was not rendered greasy by the meat. All in all, it was great. I should have taken a photo, but I was too hungry after a long drive. The pizza is obviously made in house and fresh. If you do not like the ones on the menu, you can build your own. My wife ordered the Maiale E Gnocchi, which I tried. The gnocchi was made in house. I was blown away by how good it was.The meat was fresh and exquisitely prepared. Do not hide the flavour or ruin the taste by getting the spiced maple glaze. Just request that they do not use it and they will happily comply. There is an overabundance of the arugula pesto sauce, which appears to have a lot of oil in it, so you may want to request it on the side so you can regulate how much you want. Service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. One of the best restaurant experiences I had this year. Pity it is in Kingston and I am in Toronto.

For the past week my wife and I wanted a date night out away from the children. We decided to visit Milestones but ended up at Wooden Heads. Here's why. Earlier today my wife called to reserve a table on the patio only to learn it was first come first serve. Anyhow, we went to the restaurant. As we walked by the patio when entering, we noticed a few empty tables. We asked the hostess to be seated on the patio. She explained to us there were no tables available. We told her that we just walked passed and noticed there were a few empty tables. She told us these tables were reserved for a party of six. We were confused. My wife said that she attempted earlier to reserve a table on the patio but was told its first come first serve. The Hostess told us that because we are a party of two these tables are not available. The young hostess then started to give us attitude. Why, I don't know. We only wanted to enjoy an evening out. I'm astounded that a business would deny a couple an evening out on their patio in anticipation of a larger group that just simply might not happen. Just as we were about to leave the hostess motioned another young female staff over. This person didn't say much at first, until we turned to leave. I was in disbelief and shocked to hear this person say to us in a quite snarky attitude "well, I hope you have a great evening!" I was so taken back, I turned to ask her her name. She quickly left the area. I immediately asked to speak with the manager. Phillip (manager) soon came to us. I explained to him the experience we just encountered. The response I received from him didn't feel authentic. He did offer to attempt to find us a table. At that point the enjoyment of sitting on the patio at Milestones had passed. we declined and left. My wife and I decided to visit another local restaurant (Wooden Heads). The reception was a complete opposite. The staff at Wooden Heads were friendly, polite and professional. Food was amazing as well. Keep up the great work Wooden Heads. Thank you for making our evening wonderful.

We were lucky to have great weather for a September Friday night, so we sat on the patio for dinner. My pizza was a white herbed veloutée sauce with pear, brie, prosciutto and rosemary. It was divine. Also great selection of craft beers to try. I'd definitely go again, next time I visit Kingston. :)

The most depressing place ever. If you're looking for a nice meal it's not the place. TRUST ME. As a foodie myself, I expected to have a nice big juicy pizza placed in front of me and after an hour and a half of waiting I'm served with a small pizza the size of a small dinner plate. I'm not even kidding, an 8 year old could probably eat this and still be VERY hungry. That's how small it was. The floors were slippery and the servers were in a hurry and they barely talked to you. Did I mention how big of a line there was? The pizza was WAY over priced and the atmosphere was super loud. It was even really hot and they didn't seem to care of their customers were frying alive. Did I mention how small and tiny the tables and chairs were? They were so uncomfortable to sit in, if you sat there for more than 2 hours your probably leave with a back ace and an empty stomach. Would not recommend this as a family night or a date night.

OMG, they really offer variety of pizza collection. Their appetizer and main entrees include some south east Asian flavor which mingle nicely with their western specialty, pizza. Their wall has paintings reminding bars from 60s & 70s, adding a character to the restaurant. They serve 10 or 11", and I worried about finishing it. After an initial bite, it's too good to leave any... They are located at the heart of the water front, and their price range is medium high around $20 for most.

Excellent place to go for an upscale pizza night! Food was delicious, plenty of options, and very fresh! Prices were a little high, but not too far out of what you would expect from this type of restaurant. The drinks and cocktails were also very tasty, and the restaurant had a wide variety of beers, wines and cocktails, whatever you need to wet your whistle. Great for a date night! It is a pretty popular place, so I would recommend making reservations, especially on weekends.

The best pizza place I’ve been to. My girlfriend and I always build our own pizzas and the result is fantastic each time. The breadth of toppings available will allow you to order something really specialized to your tastes. Where else can you get chèvre (goat cheese), Gorgonzola, prosciutto, lemon chicken, etc. on your pizza? And you won’t find a nicer crust, either. The salads are excellent too— our favourite is the Insalata Estate. The atmosphere is always great. Trendy seating inside with a more relaxed patio out back. The servers are prompt and friendly. Even on busy days, we’ve never waited long for our orders. I can not recommend Wooden Heads enough.

So I was on a date, and the gentleman I was with made reservations here. Now maybe I was biased by such a gorgeous guy sitting across from me, but I very much enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. I'm from the States, and I've honestly never had an experience like this in a sit down restaurant before. The server (Maria, I believe) was a sweetheart and was always smiling; the food, after being ordered, tasted absolutely amazing, and was delivered to our table within what felt like minutes. Maria consistently checked our table for necessities, even though the restaurant was full up. We ordered a small bottle of Riesling to compliment our meal as well, and that was good too. I'm not familiar with restaurant pricing in Kingston, but the prices felt high - especially since the pizzas were only $15 each, the final bill pre-tip was $75. Maybe I overlooked something, or maybe that's just typical of nice restaurants in the Kingston area. Regardless, the experience was great, the food was phenomenal, and I can't wait to go back on a future date and try some more options of theirs!

We got word to reserve seats, so I phoned on a Sunday afternoon, netting the last two chairs at the bar. Our bartender Brian, a Wooden Heads veteran, took our orders for two of the house’s specialty, individual custom pizzas, baked with thin crust in a large brick oven centre stage. One with fresh basil, goat cheese and excellent sauce ; the other with lobster sauce and a mild cheese plus broccolini. A bottle of vintage Malbec from a good wine list was ordered, followed by a chocolate mousse dessert. All delicious. Somehow he kept up with a line of chatter and good cheer, serving beer and mixed drinks, answering the phone, keeping the servers going, all in a boisterous full pub atmosphere. Busy but fun, we’d go back.

The toppings were concentrated in the middle so your last few bites were just dough. The service was ok, nothing special. We ordered 5 pizzas, one drink and a salad and paid more than $120. Says open until 10:00 but was refused service at 9:30 despite there being open tables. We had even called ahead and were told we’d be seated if we got there by 9:30, so we drove 30 minutes out of our way only to be denied service. Even when we asked for takeout we were told no with no real reason except the kitchen was too busy (even though there were empty tables and it appeared that most diners had been served).

One of our "must-go" places everytime family visits or there's a special occasion. Absolutely fantastic pizza place in the heart of Kingston. The pizza is made fresh in their large oven and it comes out perfect every time. The crust is just the right level of chewy and the smoked salmon on the arrogosta was bold and flavourful. The jerk chicken satay was also an interesting mix of flavours. The mango chutney makes a great makeshift dip for the crust as well. The place was also clean with attentive service. All in all, I'd definitely recommend a visit!

This is going to be a weird start for a restaurant review but i love this place's music. If they broadcast out of this joint I'd be listening at home, work and in the car. This is the perfect place to go if you have something fun planned after because when you walk out the door not only have you had excellent food fair but you leave energized from the excellent ambiance and great wait staff. Prices are in the ballpark . Looking for a place that makes you feel urban then this is the place for you.

WOW! Visiting Kingston and stopped in here for lunch. We had the Jerk Satay chicken skewers and the Alla Patricia pizza. It was absolutely fantastic. The chicken skewers were so tender you could cut them with a fork. The jerk spices mixed with the sriracha sauce and mango chutney was a mouthful of exciting flavours. The pizza was also simply amazing. The dough was perfectly thin and crisp. The food in this restaurant was so great, that I had to write this review. I'd prefer to give 4.5 stars but it doesn't seem to give that option. The only teeny downfall is that it is a tad pricey. But you definitely get what you pay for.

truly the best! my boyfriend & I were visiting Kingston from Ottawa for the weekend and decided to get takeout from Wooden Heads. We were given a time slot to pick them up, and they were right on time having the pizza's ready. for the pizza itself: unbelievable! we haven't been in Ottawa long, but have yet to find a thin crust pizza place that compares to here. days later & we're still commenting on how great it was. in addition, the staff we briefly encountered (from the phone & when we picked up the pizza) were great, and SO appreciative of our business. this place would be dangerous if we lived in Kingston - definitely worthy of revisiting!

I have been dining at Wooden Heads for over 16 years. Initially when work took me to Kingston, but now I make the point of traveling to Kingston for day trips specifically to get pizzas with family and friends. This is not your every day pizza place. The varieties and freshness of the toppings on a thin crust pizza allows you all the taste without getting over loaded with a bunch of dough. While I have my favorites, often the specials of the day also make for enjoyable change ups to the normal menu, especially when sharing an assortment of pizzas in a group. The staff are great, and service is always impeccable! If you are looking for a great restaurant in the downtown core, this is a must. However, plan in advance if possible and make a reservation in advance to ensure a spot.

One of the best fire oven pizzas you'll ever have. Make sure you book your reservation early and for the best experience, try and sit on one of their front or rear patios! Always a great time, but a little on the pricey side for Kingston. However, the atmosphere is excellent and the service is incredible.

It was a cloudy day in Kingston and while meandering in the downtown my family and I were ambushed by the speeches of anti vaxxers. Wooden Heads not only has delicious food and kind servers, it acts as a refuge from the Freedom brigade of southern Ontario. If you are ever near the Bubble Bus of the alt right, make sure to enter the warmth of sanity and Italian comfort food at Wooden Heads.

I've been suffering from a cold and I had the chicken in cashew curry sauce. Staff substituted roasted vegetables for the breaded rice cake for me so I could avoid gluten and it was tremendously good! I had the warm apple cider first - so sweet and delicious - no need for dessert!

Amazing pizza. We got the Pozzo pizza, worth a try and really nice joint in the heart of Kingston downtown. We got one pizza between us but after realized that we should have got 1 each so might want to think about that even if you have a left over slice or two!

The pizza here was so good. I would definitely stop by if you’re in the area. Dough is excellent, toppings are fresh. The dessert was also really good. Service was good. They don’t take down names or a number if you walk in, you just have to wait right outside the restaurant until a table is ready so I would suggest making reservations ahead of time.

I came here with my wife and was rudely greeted by a host (or was she a server?) She didn't even say hi, just asked if we had a reservation and we said no. She said come back at 10pm...it was 5:30.. then she turned around and walked away. This was a Tuesday...so apparently they don't even have a waitlist which to me is unheard of for a restaurant. It is so important in the restaurant industry to make the guest feel welcome from the second they walk in, and although I did not even try your food, which I bet is wonderful, I will not be returning to your restauran because of this experience.

We've been coming here for over 25 years and used to be big fans, but lately Woodenheads disappoints more than not. It seems like a restaurant living on reputation, nostalgia and location as much as anything else. The food, especially the non-pizza options, are hit and miss. Even when ordering the same dish this is the case; the sauces are inconsistent and sometimes lacking in flavour. The space is getting tired. The leatherette banquettes are badly worn and we've been served drinks in chipped glasses more than once. The service remains generally very good, but I'm not sure we'll be back soon with so many other options.

Great place for pizza! We got the minestrone soup to start which was very hearty and big in proportion. We also ordered the vegetariana and arbre Amore pizzas (both vegetarian). The veggies on the vegetariana were a little raw, almost as though they were sprinkled on after baking but it was still very good. The arbre amore pizza was very good, the artichokes were not pickled which is rare but the sun dried tomatoes were pickled and strong in flavour. The atmosphere was great- we made a reservation after seeing reviews and it was good that we did. Our server was very kind and lovely and brought our food in a timely manner.

One of my favourite places to eat in town! Fantastic food selection. The daily/weekly specials are my go-to, but everything is super tasty. Highly recommend the spanakopita-pizza hybrid as an appetizer. Their dessert options are not my favourite, but the dessert pizza seems to be popular based on the tables around me ordering it all the time. Some fancy cocktail options, definitely Top 10 downtown. And their wine selection is commendable. It’s also relatively cheap! You can have a fancy and filling dinner for about $30/person. The biggest things are parking (can be tough at peak times downtown) and capacity (when patio is closed they don’t have many tables and it’s busy so book ahead of time if you can!). Also I don’t think a large (8+) group would fit very comfortably in there, but maybe call and ask.

Been going to wooden heads for a while and never disappointed. The wood oven pizzas are always great, especially the dynamo one. For dessert you must try the pear calzone. In the summer there's a beautiful back patio.

There is so much to say about woodenheads. Every time I walk through the doors I fall in love all over again. The environment is classy, warm and inviting, the ambience sticks with you. The food is top level, amazingly delicious with unbelievably beautiful presentation with prices that are affordable and even quite shocking. It's small, yet cozy, and the service is out of this world! Not one of my many visits in has not been met with a friendly face who makes sure we are always topped off with fresh water or refills. It's in one of the most beautiful spots in the entire city. No review will do it justice quite like visiting for yourself and trying some of their incredible variety in brick oven pizzas and mind blowing appetizers. Wish I could give 10 stars

It is a very nice restaurant, good ambience and chic. Staff was friendly and answered all questions. The pizzas are 10" which is about a small pizza. The pizza itself was delicious. If you make changes to a pizza off the menu (ie, replace a topping) be aware that you will be charged as if you are making a custom pizza....which will make the pizza more pricy.

Having visited Kingston for the first time, I was told by my better half that Kingston had not only one of the highest restaurants per capita, but some great spots as well. Having tried a variety of restaurants, this one truly exudes mediocrity. The service was 'servicible' though our server and most staff looked slightly irritated to be there - a smile was no where to be found. I think the team is either not entirely happy or just settling because we're wooden heads after all - amirite? The decor and patios are nice, lighting and atmosphere are set properly but something was missing. The menu is a vast array of pizzas and apps along with plenty of 'favourites' which coincidently seem to be marginally favourable to the restaurant and the appetizers were fine. Overall, the appetizers were the best portion of the meal other than the browning lettuce on the mushroom salad - the coconut shrimp were nice though plated on a much too large plate diminished the value proposition of the 5 shrimp. The thing that was most dissapointing was the pizza. 3 out of 4 pizzas had at least 2 inches of just sauce around the circumference which was so peculiar. I know product costs are high but charging $20+ for pizzas and not giving a full pizza is a bit slimming. The taste was fine, ingredients fresh and dough well cooked. Unfortunately the pizza we had at score pizza was just as good if not better for half the price. Sure you don't get the snazzy table tops nor the prestinely dressed servers but the end result is just better. Having worked in the hospitality industry for more than a decade and now consulting businesses, this is a place which is riding the hype wave. Kingston elites roll in to rub elbows which leads to mediocre service for the rest - perhaps that's why our table didn't hear the specials but the one behind us did? The business has a lot of potential but it needs to get back to basics of hospitality and product quality as well as value proposition or else it's only a matter of time until a new kid on the blocks jars ownership awake.
