Always a great place for a few games of pool and dinner. Kitchen delivered a half rack of ribs when we ordered a full rack. Bar tender gave us a free beer for the miss. Nice better than a 10% discount on the food which has been my experience at other pool halls in ktown.

The WORST take out experience EVER. We ordered dinner for 4 people. The bill came to $140.00. We chose a pasta and 3 of "The Rooster". The sandwich had undercooked cheap bacon and no sauce. Extremely dry and poor presentation. The meals were all suppose to come with sides and they did not give us any them, but they charged us full price. Not to mention there was a black hair in one of the sandwiches. Customer service was horrible and rude when we called to ask about the missing food. We will NOT be going back. As I suggest you don't either.

Overlooked spot to eat while I was a Queen's student. I graduated around 10 years ago and only ate at the Grizzly Grill once, which was a fluke. The prices are more expensive compared to other restaurants on Princess, but for good reason. The food is Amazing. The staff will take care of you (that was Sara for us, the one who just started a few nights ago, the one from Alberta, I think -- please keep her on the earlier dining shift, always. I predict she'll get more glowing reviews and up your restaurants reputation online/overall if you keep her on the earlier shift ). My partner and I came up to visit Kingston just for the day to reminisce our separate times at Queen's. We stumbled into deciding to eat here after Grecco's wait too long, and discovering that Mino's wasn't offering dine-in options expert for Friday and Saturday (we came to visit on a Thursday). Anyway, I'm so happy Grizzly Grill had no wait and seated us right away. The craving platter for 1 was way more food than two people could eat and finish. It was mouth watering delicious and a great way to sample many of the items on their menu. The only thing I didn't like (there was two): 1) The prime rib portion was serves as shavings. It just tastes like tasty stir-fried beef (no offense). Perhaps changing the description to "Prime Beef shavings" would be a more accurate description. 2) The spice that was on everything, ended up being on the fries, chicken wings and dry-rub ribs was unexpectedly spicy, it has heat that I didn't enjoy since I was not expecting it. I suspect that it was from the dry-rub that made things gently, but surely fiery, that I did not like. Much too much dry rub and it was way too salty for my liking. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING. THE PEI MUSSELS. THE PRIME RIB I HAD 10 YEARS AGO, I still have just a good memory of eating it. Students, this is where you want to take your parents instead/as an alternative to Chez Piggy's. You won't regret it (:

This is a nice restaurant close to the student neighbourhood in Kingston. Th Grizzly carvings are very cool and it is nice and airy. The food was very good. I especially recommend the chicken avocado club. It's not the cheapest but I believe you get value for money.

Went there recently for lunch with a friend on a visit to Kingston. The place was not busy at all. We started with the spinach dip, which I found delicious. I had the chicken bacon club, while my friend had the beet salad with garlic shrimp. We had a couple of the craft beers and then one of their sangrias. All were delicious, and our waiter, Anthony, was delightful and very helpful in navigating the menu.

It's 1 in the morning. You have a large group of people looking for the next place to go. Some people want to dance, others just want to have a beer, and nobody wants to pay cover. You want the Grizzly Grill. Sure, you're taking a risk on the DJ playing his own Eminem/Blink 182 mixes, and you're not getting the coolest new local microbrewed beer, but you only need an ID to get in the door, and chances are everyone will have a great time.

I have been eating here for over 20 years. It used to be great. The service we received was really bad. The food wasn't near the quality it's been in years past. The Grizzly burger was good but the chicken club was really just a chicken breast with bacon on toasted bread. It took a long time to get our drink order and over an hour to receive our entrees. We had 8 people eating and 2 of the 8 meals were cold. We received free drinks and a free appetizer (when we were half done our entrees).

Five Stars, this place is amazing, its stunningly beautiful, the staff are very nice, theres lots of room and it feels really open. I went here for a group event, and everyone I met there, and the people dining privately seemed really happy. I really like the giant bear head on the front of the restaurant, I think its SUPER cool!

I was only in the upstairs portion, but I really enjoyed my time there. The pool tables are well kept and clean, however you did have to fight for a triangle for racking the balls (seemed like only one around for multiple tables). The spinach dip was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. Someone in my party had too much to drink, and the staff handled it great. They were polite and asked him to leave after finishing his game of pool. I agreed he needed to leave and thought the way he was asked was very professional and reasonable. I appreciate that the staff take the responsibility of removing people who have had too much to drink.

The service was great. My husband had the 16 oz prime rib and said it was really good. My son had the chicken parm and said it was good. My oldest daughter had the bison burger and said it was okay. My younger daughter and I had the Grizzly burger and they were dry. Not juicy at all but it was flavourful. My daughter got gravy and it was flavorless & pale. We would give it another go and order something different if we are back in the Kingston area.

The "Grizz" is a unique Kingston venue. Part restaurant, part night club, part snooker bar this place has something for everyone. The food is good, but not excellent. They do work hard to use local ingredients and farming partners and the chefs are always experimenting. But it depends on who is cooking which determines how great the food will be that night. As a night club, the Grizzly Grill typically attracts an older crowd, which makes it unique given its proximity to the university hub of bars and clubs.

We waited one hour and 20 minutes and no food had yet to arrive. We were a party of five with reservations. We chose to leave very upset. The only bright star I could give was for our server, Laura who was clearly upset but was at a loss to do more. No managerial staff approached our table but Laura responded in a professional manner and chose to waive the cost of our drinks as we cooled our heels waiting for food that never came. Never have I had this experience in a Kingston restaurant.

My visit began with the washroom . Down filthy stairs to a grungy bathroom. There were cobwebs and flies all over. The toilet door didn't lock. When the server brought wine, my glass still had lipstick on it from a previous patron. She replaced it but threw out the ounce of wine she had poured! I ordered chicken, mushroom Alfredo, with almost no sauce. The meal was acceptable but not great!

To Whom It May Concern, I visited your restaurant on September 04, 2021 to Celebrate my son's 19th Birthday and I must say I was extremely disappointed in the food and atmosphere. The food was what seemed to be bar/pub style food, the spinach dip was stale nachos with a small portion of spinach cheese dip, the Ribs / Chicken was overcooked and dry with a serving of mystery meat and Kraft dinner, certainly not worth $80. To further add, both of us felt nauseated that evening, attributing it to the food we had eaten at The Grizzly Grill. I have been to this restaurant many years ago and with this recent visit I could not believe how the service and menu / quality of food had substantially declined. Between the appetizer and meal I spent $83.94, with nothing for dessert or from the bar, too much for what we could have eaten elsewhere and appreciated much more. I do hope that someone will contact me as I think this was a disappointing evening all around and should be taken seriously. Tammy

Amazing family meal in downtown Kingston. The food and service helped me forget the lack of readily available parking and traffic congestion on a Friday night out. I had the ribeye the steak was perfect and the sides were also really good. The Kids meals were surprisingly affordable (not much more than a happy meal) making this a great family restaurant.

Upon arriving we had asked for a booth and the hostess said she could put us in the den. Knowing nothing different we agreed, but after seeing how dressed up we were I would assume she would know we wouldnt wsnt to sit in the bar area with pool tables and casual wear. The food wasnt horrible and our server was very nice, but my boyfriend ordered a medium-well piece of prime rib and when we received our meals it was still very much pink in the middle. When they returned his plate we felt that it was a completely different plate because he was missing the coleslaw he had ordered and had to different kinds of potatoes on his plate. My rib-eye steak was very fatty for the price I paid for my meal and my Brussels sprout skillet was cold and made differently from what was explained in the menu.

Myself and a party of five had a reservation for tonight and the manager Jamaal went out of his way to ensure that we had the most amazing night possible. I can’t thank him enough for his incredible service. The Grizzly is lucky to have chosen such an incredible manager. The food (spin dip and poutine) was SO GOOD! Best spin dip I’ve had in Kingston, hands down, and the poutine was amazing as well. I’ve never had a manger go so out of their way to ensure an amazing time, but tonight we got it. Tai, our server was also incredible! Both Jamaal and Tai have provided the best service we could have asked for. We will for sure be back!

By the time my white friend got a drink, my POC friend had never been served! After my POC friend has been waiting for half an hour, my white male friend went up to ask for a drink where they wanted to serve him but as soon as he said it was for a minority they said no! The Prime Rib is hands down the best in Kingston. It's consistent in a number of ways. The cut size, flavour, and cooking preference are always consistent. The sides are largely portioned, and the option for a few different add-ons make the plate customizable. Any Prime Rib lover NEEDS to visit the Grill for a taste!

Came here for lunch, and got the pork belly sandwich, and soup of the day. The soup was quite good, but the portion seemed quite small, as the bowl was only about half filled. The sandwich itself felt like it was lacking something to justify the price. The service was very slow to start, took quite a while to have someone come and take our order, and it wasn't busy, but it was between the lunch & dinner shift, so maybe that was the reason. Once we had our orders taken, the service was about average. Maybe their dinner menu would have been better, but we also weren't informed only the lunch menu was available at 4pm, we overheard them telling some other customers, because we had come to a steak house to get a steak, and only saw a steak sandwich on the menu. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed and probably wouldn't return. The food was okay, but for the price you could get better elsewhere.

The food and service that night was impeccable. Our server was very patient and understanding when it came to our orders and our meal was very much worth the price! I ordered the full rack of grilled baby back ribs which came with a side of fries and coleslaw. My boyfriend ordered the enright ribeye which came with fries, horseradish aioli, and a skillet of brussels sprouts. While we waited for our dishes to arrive, they gave us a plate of bread with butter. They offered regular butter as well as a sweet butter seasoned with black pepper and other spices. It tasted amazing... I never knew butter could taste so good. We were quite impressed with the portions when the dishes arrived. My ribs were sweet and sticky. It was also really juicy and tender. The steak was cooked beautifully and was quite tender as well. The fatty streaks gave the steak a melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Went there on a friend's birthday. We were seated at a very unpleasantly located table. Near a waiter's station and a dance floor (or at least it seemed that way) , it was a huge round table and it was very loud and frankly quite hard to talk with the other people at the table. And after being sited, we waited for 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order and give us some water. We didnt like it so much to be honest. My wife ordered the main house dish as it seemed on the menu and got a Slightly warm prime rib slice with undercooked carrots and some potatoes. Which wasn't interesting or good in our opinion. The ribs on the other hand were very good and i recommend them very much.

This was a recommendation from a friend. Our visit didn't go without hickups tho, but honestly the staff were great at making things right and the manager was on the ball to keep the satisfaction level up. Essentially bread served initially was rock solid, but was replaced when the staff noticed. There was never and cutlery provided during the course of the meal, but we made due as I had ribs and my family member had a burger. Table wasn't wiped down when we were seated outside, but was ok cause the table next to us had a wet cloth, only took a couple seconds to do ourselves and was a great wet nap at the end of the meal for my sauced covered fingers. The manager had to come out and apologise a few times one of the times was cause they had run out of a soup we had ordered. Not a big deal as the other soup on the menu was really good. As a courtesy for the above the manager also comped a dessert which we shared (yum cheesecake) and the waiter made sure to keep our glasses full of beer and water. So ultimately was a good meal considering the little service bumps.

Rude service and overpriced drinks. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, yet the service was very slow. Came here for a team dinner, we had set menu's with two options to choose from for our entree and a salad. The staff was very nice and accommodating to girls tweaking little things in the menu. Everyone really enjoyed there meals, being either a vegetarian pasta, or alfredo or meatballs. They also served fresh bread which was amazing. Would definitely recommend, portion sizing was great.

We were there recently for a late breakfast/early lunch. We were the only table, about 10 of us. Service was slow (seemingly more due to the kitchen than the waitstaff). One persons meal needed three separate corrections to get it right (and this is a breakfast plate - eggs, bacon, toast). Toast was burnt, no butter on the toast nor at the table. This place isn't new, it should be able to do better than this.

The food was unremarkable. Wait staff was okay, and the prices are ridiculous considering how unremarkable the food is. As for atmosphere, during the day is kind of okay--empty. This is more of a night spot for drinks and bar games, definitely not a place to have a nice meal with friends and family because the menu is a tad underdeveloped with options that beg the question: "Why?" A hot dog street vendor in front of this place would be a huge improvement! Hopefully they read this and get one of those carts so they can actually serve some delicious food.

Fantastic food, probably some of the beast steak I've ever had. The servers were great and pretty quick, the wait was short despite it being Friday night. My only complaint was the music was so loud we couldn't hear eachother talk sometimes, but it's to be expected from such a popular party place for students. It only started getting loud around 11-12 though. Other than blaring starboy at 100 decibels I'm 100% glad this was our restaurant we ate at in our kingston stop on the way to Toronto and I would definitely recommend it to others.

We went for dinner tonight at the griz. Usually it has been pretty good but tonight was atrocious. We had ordered a salad for one of our members and a charcuterie platter for the other three. Our platter arrived relatively promptly, but the salad was about 10 minutes later, having been asked for 2 times from 2 separate servers. We had ordered a bottle of wine and a soda for our driver. The sever never once asked if we needed another drink, and the wine was gone well before our main course. ( the Soda drinker had to ask more than once for a refill, there was no one checking on drink levels). When our mains came, after a complaint from one of our table mates, it had been more than an hour since our apps had been served. It was explained at that time it was due to a large party having their order in before us. This would have been nice to know as it would have made the wait more tolerable. We had 4 meals. The pizza was hot and ready to go. The bison burger was overdone, having been requested to be medium rare and arrived dry well done. The 2 prime rib dinners. Medium rare: cold. Well done: served medium. This all being said, and despite having had good service and food at other times, I doubt I will be returning.

Reservation at 7:00pm for our large group was made two months in advance. By 10:00pm only half the group had their meals. Absolutely no communication from wait staff who took orders then and disappeared. Afterwards we had to ask the manager for a discount as they thought an apology would be enough. Discount that was given was minimal. Teenagers went outside for a bit while we waited and weren’t allowed back in because apparently the place turns into a bar at 10pm and they weren’t old enough (even though all the parents were inside waiting for our bills which we also had to ask for twice and waited even longer to receive). All of this only to find out that had I gone by myself and ordered off the regular menu my meal would only have cost $17 but since I was with a group that was given a very small “special” menu it cost $25??! Do NOT recommend!!

We had our daughter's grad dinner here and I am very disappointed with the service and food. It was not busy and my husband's prime rib looked like it was the previous days and boiled. He left it on the plate and our server couldn't look at us in our eyes and just asked if he wanted a take out container! We travel a lot and dine out often, I have never seen a server react like that. *we were the 4:30pm seating on the 6th of Jun. My dinner was extremely salty but I chalked it up to the fact I don't use salt and a bad start of the kitchen staff. 20 years we have been going and because of the lack of respect from our server and the kitchen cutting corners, never again.

Our server Alistair took great care of us during dinner where we enjoyed grilled calamari to start. My wife had the ravioli and I enjoyed the chicken & ribs. Both were delicious. The fun part was watching the kitchen cook our meals. After dinner we went upstairs and took a seat at the bar where Brooke greeted us with a friendly smile and attended to us. We didn't realize how big it was upstairs with the pool tables and ended up staying for a couple hours playing pool! A great date night out! Thanks Grizzly Grill!

Sadly our experience changed much from the last time we had a boys trip in Kingston. We booked a reservation for 1930, and our great server Laura let us know that the kitchen was backed up. We put in our orders and waited for roughly two hours before our mains came to us. We remembered Grizzlies fondly as a steak house and it's much changed. The steak options are limited and when they came to our table, the meat was tough and barely warm, the rectangle of garlic butter refusing to melt. The one thing I will say is that our server made sure her manager knew and the provided us with a discount but I hope in the future they definitely change up their meat options and ensure that the meat is cooked properly and that it's still hot when it comes up from the bottom floor.

Unfortunately, today's lunch with a co-worker was a disappointment. The menu offered burgers and sides only. No pasta or pizza which we have had in the past and enjoyed. My burger was served on a wooden cutting board that was well used with multiple cutting gashes in it that would be a great spot for bacteria and had a large split down the middle. I get the idea of the rustic look but when it looks that dirty and used, a plate would be preferred for sanitary purposes.

I have celiac disease and most of the menu can be made to be safe for me! They have gluten-free options for bunds, pizza crust and pasta. I opted for the Maple Glazed Salmon and it did not disappoint! Our server, Molly, was absolutely delightful and knowledgeable about the need to have a gluten-free meal. She was attentive to all of our needs and my dietary needs, especially! She indicated that although they don’t have a dedicated fryer, the kitchen staff and Chef take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible. We were all very pleased with our meals. My friends had the ribs and indicated the BBQ sauce was delish. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back!

I've been eating at the Grizz for probably 20 years. Unfortunately we must of visited on a bad evening, the restaurant was a ghost town but to be honest we did have 4:30 PM reservations. Service was great at first, drinks came out, appetizers came out on time and it all tasted pretty good. Then the main course. Something I've been looking forward to all day. I ordered the large prime rib. Wow! What a disappointment!! I really think the restaurant tried to sell me last nights prime rib. I ordered medium rare, but it came out looking like a rubber stamp, and tasted no better. I took two bites and left it on my plate. Now, you would think that a waitress would ask if everything was fine with the meal? Especially seeing a $40 piece of prime rib sitting on a plate, uneaten? Nope! "Would you like a take out container" I was asked? Luckily my wife and daughters meal was good and they didn't want me to make a scene at my daughters university graduation dinner. I now take pen to paper (so to speak) and complain in a much more orderly fashion without incident and embarrassment to all involved. Grizz staff, if your reading? I sure hope this evening was a one off? Your prime rib dinner is in the pic. Thanks for the take out container!

We had a wonderful server and excellent food. My wife and I both had steak and they were delicious. My wife especially enjoyed the roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon. And the bread they brought was warm and oh-so-wonderful. A previous reviewer indicated this restaurant was a buffet. That was not our experience. Menus, waitresses who take your order, and food delivered to your table. We will come back the next time we are in Kingston.

The kitchen staff don't know the difference between well done steak and medium rear. The meat was overcooked and too salty. The fries were dry like they were sitting in the oil for too long. The French onion soups were too salty either. The buns on the steak sandwiches were charred. Unhealthy to eat. The only good thing was the salad and fried brie - even though it was very small. The server was nice and the food arrived on time. But because of the food quality to price ratio I would never recommend the establishment.

This is supposed to be a reputable establishment in Kingston. The grizzly has been part of the hub of kingston for as long as I can remember. I have had a passable breakfast buffet here, but tonight's dinner deserved a serious reprimand... I was always told that the Grizzly was a more upscale place and the menu prices attested to this, however, execution and promptness of service did not match the price tag. We waited well over an hour for our orders, and when we got our food it was either undercooked, or completely overcooked (thanks for killing my bison burger; like dead, dry, charcoal brick). I have eaten all over this wonderful city and I would hands down recommend the keg over the grizzly. Better prompt service an they won't kill your meat. Sorry Grizzly, but you failed, you won't get a second chance.

Came here for a team dinner, we had set menu's with two options to choose from for our entree and a salad. The staff was very nice and accommodating to girls tweaking little things in the menu. Everyone really enjoyed there meals, being either a vegetarian pasta, or alfredo or meatballs. They also served fresh bread which was amazing. Would definitely recommend, portion sizing was great.

I have been going to the Grizzly grill since I was knee high. For the longest time they were one of the biggest must dine restaurants in the area but in recent years the edge on their blade has dulled. At dinner time the Grizzly plays their best game, the menu is fresh and plentiful with gems like their duck pizza and prime rib, as well as their more casual dishes like fish and chips. Appetizers are another strong arm the Grizzly has, the calamari is my personal favourite aside from spinach dip. The beet frites are quite popular if you like beets. Where the Grizzly loses their bite is during their weekend brunch. The selection is minimal for the 18.00 that brunch costs. The buffet is missing a more plentiful salad and dessert selection and completely ignores certain brunch classics such as waffles and French toast. Drinks are a big wallet eater with beer costing between 7-9 per pint and spirits being 7 at the least for cheaper spirits. If you are looking to grab a drink here go on Monday for cheap pints ($5) and free pool.

In Kingston for business for 9 days. Was looking for a steakhouse to have dinner and saw The Grizzly Grill on Google. Decided to give it a try. Cool location. Interior is like a lot cabin/lodge with log railing and staircase. Fireplace upstairs to warm you up on those cold nights. Had the Fried Pork Belly starter and was not disappointed. Ordered the Ribeye on the recommendation of my server. Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. But the standout was the Brussels Sprouts that came on the side. Cooked with shallots and bacon, OMG they were the best Brussels Sprouts I've ever had. Finished with the Chocolate Decadence cake with a cup of coffee and could not have topped of the meal any better. Would highly recommend The Grizzly Grill.

My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch. The experience was less than satisfactory. First of all, we stood by the reception table for a good five minutes waiting for the waitress. It wasn’t until other guests came in that the chef told us to just sit wherever we wanted to. My husband ordered the hungry man’s breakfast with daily soup and I ordered the mushroom frittata with home fries. Our ordered arrived 30+ minutes after ordering. Fine, because we weren’t hungry at all. Hungry man’s breakfast contained steak (see photo) - 50%+ fat in the steak. Daily soup was obviously overnight chicken noodle soup with vinegar spilled into it. What was left of the steak was very good, cooked to the perfect tenderness. Mushroom frittata - the menu said there was goat cheese in the frittata but I swear I couldn’t taste it. The frittata was incredibly dry and unseasoned. The home fries were very good though, I give them that. In all fairness this is a steak house. However, if you’re not going to serve good brunch, maybe you shouldn’t offer a brunch menu.

Some friends and I had a very interesting experience here. I will preface this by saying our entire meal was eventually covered by the restaurant which was very much appreciated, and in my mind the right thing to do. We're in town for a company hockey tournament and just finished playing 3 games, and are hungry. We had called about 3 hours ahead to make a reservation for 14 people which they confirmed would not be a problem. We get there in the evening and get seated and order some drinks, appetizers, and our meals. The drinks come as do the appetizers and a second round of drinks. About 2.5-hours later, there was still no main course and it's about 10:30pm now. A manager comes over to apologize for the long wait and offers to send some free snacks to hold us over. At this point a few of my friends couldn't stick around any longer, so they left. The rest of us stayed. We complained about the fact that there was very little communication about the delay, which was caused by a 'party of 80 people' on the top floor and their kitchen not being able to handle the capacity. They did eventually bring out the food albeit extremely delayed, and they took care of the entire bill for us. It was a pretty good burger, and the atmosphere was nice but waiting 2.5 hours for a burger isn't the best idea of dining in my mind. I really wish they had communicated this before hand, either when I made the reservation or when we placed our orders. Perhaps in the future they would either close the restaurant down for the private event, or bring in additional kitchen staff or something.
