Amazingly fresh and innovative seafood options. Probably the best grilled squid and octopus I have ever had and served along with a great and interesting cocktail menu. Like everything in Tofino, it’s super casual with great and food service!
We came here for lunch and my wife and I decided to share a few plates (although I must admit the Big Bad Wolf breakfast platter looked awesome). We ordered the potato crusted oysters, the Humboldt squid and braised beef croquette, and every one of these dishes was great! The oysters served on an apple purée were absolutely amazing, with the perfect combination of crunchiness, sweetness, and saltiness. Mmmm I should have ordered two orders. The squid was cooked to perfection and the croquette was a utterly yummy. Service was fast and friendly! Definitely worth visiting. I hope to come back for dinner next time.
Had an amazing experience here. Had the fresh oysters, then the potato encrusted oysters with aioli (didn’t like as much), the seaweed salad with tuna was amazing. My favourite was the Octopus on a bed of hummus and tahini with carrots and cilantro. Unbelievably tasty. Great service from Hailey and her husband the chef clearly knows the kitchen he’s running. Highly recommend this place when in Tofino.
Not worth the hype. My boyfriend and I were surprised that the Wolf in the Fog did not live up to all the positive reviews we had read before booking. We had the smoked tuna dip to start and it was yummy, though the chips seemed to be out of a bag and not made in house. For our main, we had the halibut for two ($85), which we thought would be amazing given that the menu is small, the server said everyone loved it, and the price. The fish was fresh and I wish it had been paired with flavours that would have let it shine, but it was overpowered by the dressing that tasted similar to a Kraft dressing. The tomatoes/olives/focaccia/zucchini were individually fine but did not work together at all. We were also surprised that they get the ribeye from Beretta Farms in Ontario. Beretta is an incredible farm, but we were under the impression the restaurant sourced their ingredients locally. Lastly the service was slow (could be a product of covid), and the ambience could be improved by a cohesive playlist, candles on the table, and doing something with the large empty table in the center of the restaurant that is not being seated due to covid (perhaps art or flowers or candles). We wish we would have gone elsewhere as the experience was not on par with other restaurants in the same price range.
Reserve online to ensure a table for your party! Between 4 people, we ordered Poke Mexicano, fried oysters, salmon tataki, halibut, and pork. Overall the dishes were very good! Textures of the meat were perfect and the flavours of the sauces were fantastic! The hype for this restaurant are true. If you like sours, I also enjoyed the cedar infused rye. Alcohol could be stronger but the hint of cedar reminds you of the forest.
Excellent food and probably one of the best places to eat in Tofino. I would highly recommend making a reservation especially for dinner. The bar is pretty stacked so if you want to order some fancy drinks, you definitely can. The restaurant has a patio upstairs as well if you want some fresh air. For dinner, ordered the catch of the day (halibut) and spaghetti which was super tasty. As well, ordered a few appetizers including the Wagyu and the crusted oysters. Recommend checking out this place.
Very busy, arrive early or make reservations. Excellent, friendly service. Oysters were one of the best things I've ever had. Would definitely visit again.
In the photo you can see seaweed salad, yellow bean and Thai squid. All of them taste delicious with a distinct taste and flavor. I really enjoyed seaweed salad.
Limited menu, but whatever they do have is AMAZING. My husband and I shared a few dishes. We had the seaweed salad and added the tuna sashimi. We also had the farmhouse chicken dinner meal and it was sooo perfectly juicy. The pasta was also very perfectly al dente. Highly recommend.
I’m sure they’re a great drink place. Just not open past 9:30pm on a Thursday. Even though their hours state 10pm. Kinda lame There were people seated I’m sure we could have snuck in. Kitchen is closed. Oh well next time… maybe. Don’t trust the hours call ahead
Great food, decor, and service. Tried their salmon which was nicely cooked.
First time in Tofino and first time visiting the Wolf in the Fog. We were very lucky to be seated as a walk-in at around 7PM on a Saturday. The ambience of the restaurant is fantastic. There’s a small, cozy area downstairs as well as a larger area upstairs. They also have a very nice patio upstairs. I have to say the patio was very well designed and heated very well compared to some other restaurants I’ve visited. My only complaint would be that perhaps it was too warm on the patio; but I’d much rather have it be too warm than too cold. Just a very minor thing in my opinion. Our server was great, friendly, and very attentive. The food was very tasty and so were the cocktails. All in all a very nice dining experience.
Great service! The prawns are so good. The clam and fish with rice was delicious but they managed to screw up cooking white rice. The rice was undercooked as seen here. It’s like chewing into a rock.
Delicious food and drinks (great little selection of wine!), great staff and beautiful decor. We can't wait to go back !
I enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff. It gets quite busy even during the weekdays. We had to wait in line for about 10 minutes to just get in and luckily we were the last to get a table in second floor in Thu 5pm. So recommended to make reservations in advance. Food was delicious (prices high too) and the portions are not very large. Dish decoration was right as good as Restaurant decoration. I loved the burger ????
Staff was friendly and we sat on the beautiful outdoor patio enjoying the nice weather. The seaweed salad with sashimi I had was perfect. I wasn't a fan of the garlic bread, which was served like a cake, with cheese sitting loose on the top crust and cut *almost* into two slices, with tons of garlic and butter between the two parts. Very difficult to eat without making a huge mess of my hands. I tried to finish cutting it down the middle but the bottom was so hard I couldn't. So I ended up just using my hands to rip parts off of it and it grossed me out haha. I really don't know how you're supposed to eat it? My friend got a burger and fries and a salmon dip with chips that she said were great. Would definitely go again.
Valentine was great, when we asked for recommendations she said the octopus and the oysters were amazing. We loved both, and the albacore tuna. For desert make sure you get the cream puff - To die for. No picture because we ate it too fast.
Dinner
We were really excited to go here after all the hype we had heard. Let’s start with the reservation… we made it a month in advance and as plans changed we tried to adjust our time but whenever we called the restaurant we got voicemail and they never returned our call. This lead to us being charged $10 when we showed up early as a walk in as we “wouldn’t be attending our reservation and they’re very busy”. The host was extremely rude and unpleasant. They then called us saying we no showed for our reservation and left a very rude voicemail. Our sever was excellent and the view was great!! We had the smoked tuna dip which was really nice. The spaghetti and meatballs wasn’t so great… the meatballs were a blend of duck, beef and pork, which it didn’t say on the menu. We also had garlic toast, which was excellent and a tuna tataki bowl which was okay. Good selection of wines and beers. Not at the top of our list of restaurants to return to when in Tofino.
Best food I have ever had!! You definitely get what you pay for. I will recommend this place to anyone 8n Tofino! The servers were also kind and attentive. We were recognized by our server the second time we went!
Scored a great table upstairs and we were blown away by the great cocktails and perfectly prepared meals. Excellent!
My husband and I were so impressed with how amazing the food is here. We went two days in a row just to try the whole menu, for sure I would recommend
Love this spot! The most delicious dinner I had in a very long time! Everything is so beautifully done and the staff is super friendly! We were able to make a reservation on the patio and it was great! Must go when you are in tofino!
A hidden gem on the west coast. Small town hospitality but big city’s skills. The drinks, food and service take on the best. Do yourself a favour and stop in have a drink and relax!
Dine in
2020 Amazing food! Came back again in 2021 and sat at the bar again. Ken the bartender is a wealth of knowledge and an amazing at his craft. The whole team was amazing. The food was delicious again. Thank you for existing! Make sure to buy the kitchen a 6 pack!
Meal type
Expensive but good food, don’t have much to choose from in tofino in December
Interesting dining experience at this place. We were sold on the sablefish for 2 in which the whole table (my wife and I) had to participate. It came with an app, a salad, the fish and dessert for $85. We were under the impression we would be doing a sharing plate of each of the above, but no, each person got there own. It became $85 per person. It was misleading. That being said, the food was fabulous and came in huge portions If we didnt chose this, it would have been hard to find something else as there is a very limited selection of dinner items. The app: prawn corn dog Salad: seaweed salad Fish: sablefish with quinoa and veg Dessert: stone fruit sorbet with peaches Overall good food and atmosphere. As with almost anywhere in Tofino, make a reservation in advance!
Wonderful aura and great tasting food. The halibut was expensive but delicious. The smoked tuna and chips was a great appetizer.
Incredible as always. My spouse said the maple smoked oysters was one of the best things he’s ever eaten. My trout with sui choy and shiitake mushrooms was wonderful, I’d even say comforting. Drinks could be better but the food can’t be beat.
We had a phenomenal experience at this spot. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was that perfect balance between quality food and relaxed local vibes. Some standouts to try are the cedar sour and the halibut. Make sure you get your reservations well in advance because it’s a popular destination in Tofino.
Great food, upscale PNW ambiance, and nice location. Service was hard to judge with Covid restrictions, however the food came quick and the quickly replaced when my drink when they noticed I didn’t enjoy it. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town!
Great spot in Tofino! The only reason Wolf in The Fog is getting a 4 star is because they have a rotating menu and when I visited in August 2021, my party had a hard time finding something to eat. The mains did not appeal to everyone, apps and mains that visit were very seafood heavy which not everyone in my party loved. Desserts were phenomenal, drinks were phenomenal. Since I do like seafood, I ordered the seacuterie and it was pretty tasty! The seacuterie was three small seafood plates and also ordered the potato crusted fried oysters which were 10/10. Would go back and would recommend to visitors
Great drinks and seafood selection. Love the ambiance. It’s definitely a bumpin place, so make a reservations a few weeks ahead of time or be prepared to line up and wait for a bit. The potato crusted oysters are delightful and they had a scallop risotto special on that was also so tasty. The squid appy was next level. Definitely recommend trying it out when you’re in Tofino!
Love the decor. We had a quick bite to eat and a drink. The squid was fantastic. Perfectly cooked. Nice place to hang out on a rainy afternoon. But if you’re trying to get there for dinner be sure to book well in advance.
Food and drinks were delicious - try the potato crusted oyster appy and cedar sour! Staff were very attentive. Would go again.
The service was excellent. The food was good, however at the price point I’ve had much better. Dishes seemed to lack the refinement I expected at this price point. Felt a bit like they were trying to be something they couldn’t quite pull off.
Great atmosphere and vibe. Great service. Cocktails were delicious. The food was mostly good. The octopus was quite sour and Brussel sprouts nearly inedible as burnt and salty. I would recommend the salad, fried chicken and the pasta. Overall great place to visit.
Absolutely loved our dining experience at Wolf in the Fog! We made a reservation about 4 weeks in advance just to make sure we could get in. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and right in the heart of Tofino. We decided to get a lot of different appetizers rather than a main so we could try an assortment of things, and they did not disappoint! Their menu options change, but the Potato crusted oysters are a staple and 1000% worth getting! We have a couple cocktails each and they were exquisite, dessert was a special holiday Gingerbread ice cream cookie sandwich and there are no other words than WOW! Will definitely be back, and highly recommend to anyone visiting Tofino!
Delicious!!! You can't miss this place if you are visiting Tofino. The octopus and the tuna are just amazing .
Really good food and service. Staff very attentive and I could see how some feel like they should just dine and get on out. I enjoyed that the food felt higher tier (priced accordingly) but that the staff and guests werent too dressed up. Our food was so good. Our eyes were bigger than our mouths/stomachs as we ordered the seacuterie AND slow baked halibut and clams for 2, thinking the portions would be daintier. We easily could've had one or the other. The latter was one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had and I highly recommend it. Oh and I tried the popular cedar sour and agree it is very tasty and refreshing.
Amazing experience as always. It's been a few years since we've been and it never fails to impress.
The food was excellent.. but this place has attitude (not in a good way). Right from the way that they don’t bother picking up phones to the “whatever” reception at the front door to the cool reception from the servers.. leaves a lot to be desired. Top notch food for sure but has a lot to learn about warm customer service.
Food and service were great. We had an early dinner to avoid the wait. Get the seacuterie.. so delicious. My fave was the octopus and hummus, but the mackerel comes at a very close second. Highly recommend for a nice meal in Tofino.
Great service and great food. I think it was the only place open in town because it was fully booked. We waited an hour. Book early! Absolutely, not matter what, you must order the potato crusted oysters! Food and staff on point!
Service
Very interesting and tasty menu. Honestly, not every item is a home run but I really respect the creativity here. The seaweed salad with tuna sashimi and the salmon tataki are incredible. The mushrooms in both plates elevate the dishes to a next level. I found the oysters heavy and greasy, I think good oysters don’t need this much processing on them. The seacuterie board has its ups and downs. The octopus is amazing. The mackerel is very well done. The lingcod pastrami was overly salty and the whole plate didn’t work well together. Now on to the drinks. The drinks are amazing. We were seated at the bar and Collin was a great host and a very talented mixologist. The wine list also very strong for the Island and their somm knows his selection very well. Overall, we had a great time and will come again.
Fantastic meal, wonderful staff and great vibe. What more do you need?
It was just okay. Came here during Southern food week and I have had much better elsewhere. Ribs were very fatty and lacked BBQ sauce. Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was served open and without any slaw. Also, the sandwich was covered in oil for some reason? Not good. Dessert was okay, one small scoop of ice cream and sorbet for $12? Not worth it. Drinks were very well made tho!
