First time going and was pleasantly pleased. Staff was very friendly. Loved the decor inside. We just ordered rolls and one appi. They had a wonderful variety of rolls to choose from including ones with bananas,which I haven't seen yet. Sushi was delicious and came very fast. I definitely plan to go back to try more.

I had called at 6 pm yesterday to place an order for their seasonal platter for pickup. After we settled the total and information on the phone, the lady was explaining that platters normally take longer to make, which is fine. She put me on hold to ask the chefs how long a platter would take and then came back to tell me that it was too late to order the platter. I was disappointed and a bit shocked that they’d turn away our order at 6 p.m. when they close at 8. Maybe they were busy with orders for the night, not even quite sure. But she also didn't ask me after if I wanted to order something else. This was also disappointing. A suggestion would be to maybe put a disclosure on your site/Instagram, that if people plan to order a platter, to call way ahead of closing time (even though I think 2 hours is still enough time). You offer a lot of platters on your site. 6 p.m. is still dinner time for many people. Even if it took an hour+ for that order, that should be up to the customer if they want to wait that long. Hopefully we'll have better luck next time...or shall I call at opening for an order for 6 pm?

Sushi Daruma's monthly platters has quickly become one of my favourite ways to get sushi! The platters, which they post on Instagram each month, have a great quality to cost ratio - they include a good diversity of rolls that are up there in quality with the best sushi in the city! Their customer service is amazing as well; just call early, as they get busy quick!

We needed to find a new Sushi place close to the part of town we travel and got lucky with Daruma. Excellent portions and fresh. Sashimi was priced in line with other Sushi restaurants. The service was excellent. They were quite busy, but managed to be very attentive. Contrary to some chain restaurants the staff were sincere in their pleasantries. If you are looking for a good Sushi fix, you won’t go wrong at Daruma. We also look forward to another night of dining...

Winnipeg is full of great sushi restaurants, and Sushi Daruma is at top of the list! The food is incredible and unique. The staff are super friendly. My favorite roll is the crazy yam roll. They also have many versions of sushi pizza to order. If you love sushi, you gotta eat here. You will not be disappointed.

Honest, staff and venue are very nice, but my food was not good. I only had a vegetarian roll but there was way too much rice, and it was not seasoned well. There was no salt in the rice and so much vinegar that an hour after eating, my mouth still tastes of rice vinegar.

PROS • tons of parking, located in the shoppers strip mall • atmosphere is cozy & the staff is always friendly • best items to go : seasonal platters • delicious sushi rolls • sashimi is always bomb here • appetizers as well CONS • if you're ordering to go please be advised it does take some time, they do prioritize people eating inside more than the take out orders so they have to make sure they have enough ingredients for everyone either than that, I've been an avid customer, have always come back whenever I craved sushi. We ordered take-out. No ginger or wasabi given which was a huge disappointment and didn't notice until I was comfy and ready to enjoy my meal. The portion sizes of the sunomono salad and vegetable tempura were very small! I've frequented many many sushi places and I've never had such a tasteless, miniature tempura order (which included some burnt pieces). The whole meal was tasteless really, including 5 different rolls. It was so disappointing after a weekend of camping and craving some sushi!! Wanted to try someplace close to home... now I know :( i don't even think I've ever given a bad review before but I couldn't shake my disappointment with this over-priced meal.

Affordable, decent sushi. If you're looking for decent quality and taste without breaking the bank or splurging, then it's a great place to go. I would go as far as saying this is "The Keg" caliber of sushi places, especially in the North. If you're wanting "Hy's" caliber, then this isn't it, you should consider Yujiro in the South for that. This is our go-to, never-disappoints, sushi place. Their dinner bento boxes are an amazing deal that will leave you wishing you had worn stretchy pants. And their staff are always smiling, always helpful and always friendly.

The food is always beautifully prepared, with some of the freshest ingredients I've ever tasted at a sushi spot. Sushi wasn't really good, I didn't like the taste of it, and it ended up making me sick right after so I ended up having to miss work due to it. My friends also had gone there and now both of them are struggling from food poisoning. Wouldn't recommend it, it might be cheap and close, but is it really worth your health.

Looked this place but everything has mayo in it. Like 80% of the rolls had mayo. Ordered take out and it was tasty. Generous about it wasabi and ginger. Sushi was a touch warm, most likely from the rice. Overall I left satisfied but wouldn't order again strickly because of the overabundance of mayo in everything.

If I could give this zero stars I would. From start to finish the meal was bland. The agedashi tofu has absolutely no flavour it honestly tasted like a deep fryer. The rolls were tiny and all bland rice with barely any filling. The nigiri again was all bland rice with a paper thin piece of fish. A complete ripoff and I left the restaurant still hungry after paying over 25 dollars for one meal. At the end of the meal we go up to pay. They asked how everything was and I was honest with how disappointed we were. I asked if there was any way we could get a reduction on our bill and the manager said no we had to pay full price. I said that’s fine but we won’t be coming back. She punches in my total on the machine and I pay and then my friend pays and then she realizes that she charged me a dollar less. She actually made me take out my credit card for a charge of A DOLLAR.

Wanted to try sushi for so long. Finally found a place with a lot of vegetarian options. Their creamy yam rolls are good, I am used to eating foods with lots of spices and flavors. But they didn't disappoint me. Even their egg omelete roll was good. It's a good place for vegetarian people.
