We recently visited this restaurant on North Mc Phillips as it was nice to be able to dine out for a change. OK, we will definitely be back. Weekly at least. I mean, I've had some great Indian food before, even made by friends (and their moms), but this was on a whole other level. Some dishes that are universal to Indian Restaurants - like butter chicken (Murg) - had the most tender chicken pieces, and the flavours in the sauce were so nuanced. You could taste all of the sauce ingredients individually, and together. It was like having it for the first time, and how it was supposed to be made. I had the mixed grill - a variety of types of chicken - and because I couldn't make up my mind, we also ordered a veggie curry. (Took a bunch home for the next day and it was equally delish). All mains were served with fresh yellow basmati rice, as they should be. The side order of mozza naan bread was perfect, crisp, hot, flaky and chewy - but not doughy like some places make it.. Prices are reasonable, serving sizes are excellent. Even the vegetables tender and fresh and best of all, nothing was 'steamed to death' so you know it's being prepared fresh to order for you.
Dining in was quiet and relaxed and the young female waitress was very helpful and attentive - if a bit shy. The place is cleaned up since it used to be The Porch - a previous breakfast fave of ours.
As we waited for our order, people were stopping in to pick up and raving about the food too. One woman said its so good they are working their way through the entire menu and haven't had a miss yet. They opened up in September in the middle of the pandemic, are local and deserve a lot of support. In fact, we're ordering for take out tonight!
