It's been awhile since I've been pleasantly surprised about a restaurant. Tonight was that surprise! Our family of 5 was treated to great service, large portions, and quality food! The chalkboard menus were unique and the flight of beers our server chose excellent. Everyone agreed we'll be back!

I pre-ordered in advance for take out. The food was good, my favourite thing we ordered were the beet chips appetizer. The sweet heat burger was good, but not hot or as spicy as I was expecting. The poutine was ok but barely warm. I got there to pick up my order on time, however they made me wait almost 15 minutes... which is why I think my food wasn't hot. I would expect my order to come out at the pre-ordered time. I was not given an explanation as to why it took that long when it did come out. So that was disappointing, especially considering I saw the waitress who brought out my order waiting on the people on the patio while I was waiting.

Nice neighborhood eatery…a bit pricey, but you won’t go home hungry. Good selection of local beers and interesting libations…maybe a good idea to make a reservation as there always seem to be a bit of confusion if you’re just coming in off the street! The Black Bean Bisque is a good choice…and is served in a pail sized bowl!

Our group first ate at Rae’s on Sept 1st for burger week & let me say that the burger was amazing! One of the best I’ve had anywhere & service was great. I raved about it to many friends & family. I knew before burger week was done I would be back for another. I went back again on the 4th with another group & had a completely different experience. We ordered our drinks & our meals & waited for our waitress to come back. We waited & waited & waited some more. An hour went by & the waitress not once came back to ask if we would like another drink or to let us know about our food order. So we were not happy about the service at all. Once the meals finally arrived I was disappointed. My burger was literally sitting in a pool of grease (our first burgers never had a drop of grease on the plate at any point during the meal), the bacon wasn’t even on the burger & it had a small piece of brisket on it compared to the generous portion it had on it the 1st time. So overall inconsistency has been my experience at Rae’s. I will be back a 3rd time in the hopes that last night was just an off night for them. If I had a repeat of last nights experience I don’t think I would go back again.

Today was a sentimental visit for me. I've wanted to bring family here for a long time. Sadly they're no longer here, so I decided to go today as my own form of closure. The server was so pleasant and polite. She was actually wonderful. I had a passionfruit green tea on ice to drink. It was great, and looked amazing. Things just kept getting better. I ordered a cream of mushroom pizza, the smell of the truffle coming off it hooked me right in. Perfect in every way. I didn't finish it all, left with my pizza and a slice of cake. Best black forest cake ever. Hands down. Definitely will be seeing me around more. Thanks guys!!

Another great night at this Bistro. It’s poutine week and a photo of the Get Shorty Poutine that I saw on FB lured me in. I loved it! This dish did not disappoint. The multitude of flavors that pop in the mouth is pure pleasure for the taste buds. The blueberry cheese alone has many layers of flavor. The beef was so tender you don’t even need to cut it, not even with a spoon. This is everything I want in a poutine. Thanks again Rae’s Bistro and Danny for being our server. This is a busy happening bistro in a terrific location. The ambience is a delight, the staff are extremely welcoming. I highly recommend getting there before Poutine Week is over. Don’t forget the amazing desserts and the beer craft wall.

Rae's came highly recommended by a good friend of mine, so for our first dinner out since pre-covid lockdowns this is where we went. And it was just perfect! All the staff were amazing and helpful. The restaurant was spotless and is taking all covid necessary precautions. And the food was delicious (we had the beet chips, chorizo dip, pickerel and the dinner special). The portion sizes were bigger than we were expecting, so we've got dinner for tomorrow as well now! The drink menu was lovely, and much to my husband's excitement, it included flights of Scotch! By the time dessert time rolled around, we were full already but had heard such good things about their desserts that we needed to try one (most of which came home with us as well) and it did not disappoint! Cozy atmosphere. Delicious, reasonably priced menu. Caring and fun staff. 10/10. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Edit: The food is still good. Still have a selection of draft beer. The chorizo dip is not worth $19. The pizza is really good, along with the beet chips. Spicy chicken sandwich, also delicious! Our server was very aloof and was doing the absolute minimum. Our orders were messed up, items forgotten and asked for multiple times. Maybe she was having a off day? 2019 Always a great experience here. The food is excellent. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere. Good selection of beer on tap. Happy hour is 2-5pm.

This is a total gem. Make reservations (we had a group of 8). Service was great, atmosphere was awesome, food was amazing. I don't have anything bad to say about this place. A few extra bucks for each meal, but worth every bit. Beet chips and chorizo dip starters were mouth watering heaven.

Fantastic place to eat. Food amazing! Staff great! We had dinner with friends this past Saturday. We had reservations. We got there a bit early but our table was ready. The service we got was fantastic even though the restaurant was busy. The food came fresh and hot. The atmosphere is great. It feels like a mix between a high end restaurant but still casual and relaxed. But prices are still reasonable. I can't praise Rae's Bistro enough. Reservations aren't necessary but they do get very busy on the weekends so if its a special occasion you might want to make a reservation. Worth checking out if you haven't been yet.

We ordered for the first time this evening after hearing nothing but great things from many others about the excellent food and service, we concur 100%!!..unbelievable Rae's Burger, fries and poutine!...and the Amaretto cheesecake is beyond words. Ordering over the phone with Danny was very easy and they even delivered earlier by Natascha then quoted on the phone. Amazing food and service, will absolutely order from them again. Restaurant is nicely set up inside. The environment was friendly and so was the staff. Main reason for loss of 2 stars is, I got the rib rack meal and my meal came on a plate too small for the meal. My fries and vegetables were all under the ribs and by the time I received my meal almost all my fries were soggy and tasted like zucchini and I had no where to cut my ribs up at all. Also the asparagus had no flavor at all and my ribs only had sauce on one side but the ribs fell off the bone and were good otherwards. Plate needed to be twice the size and presented better in mine and my partners opinion. Would recommend this restaurant but not the rib rack meal

We've had many good meals here. This time was an exception. The appetizer was OK, and the sandwich and drinks were great, but the soup we ordered was terrible. We wanted to just exchange the soup for the salad which was OK, but when the salad came it was terrible too(I explained it tasted like vinegar lettuce). When we received our bill I asked if we were still getting stuck with the soup and salad... I was told you're not getting unstuck with the side, I can't do anything for you. Terrible soup, terrible salad, even worse service.

Our new favorite place. Prices are VERY reasonable Servings are large. 1/2 price ribs on Monday is what we've heard. I had the porkies revenge burger...it was TOO large to fit in my mouth.. I have always had the best service at Raes. I was a server for 10 years and good service is very important to me. The way that raes is run, with the friendly family environment is impeccable! The servers are attentive and always kind and efficient and they make it fun. The owners have made the aura of Raes one of my favourite local places to go! Not only is the service top notch, but the food quality and consistency is always spot on. I have tried many of the burgers, the ribs, steak and the salads and I’m always satisfied. The drinks they have featured are so delicious especially the strawberry sangria ???? I highly recommend Raes and I am so glad it’s part of Winnipeg. It’s such a great representation and a wonderful place to recommend people to go. Thanks to all the staff at Raes we appreciate you. ❤️

Awful customer service from OWNER and menu not honest! Please don't advertise your Caesar salad as a vegetarian option if you refuse to modify the dressing to be without anchovies. You are feeding vegetarians meat and people with fatal allergies fish! I wanted to make the owner aware of this, but was fearful of his condescending tone. Also wait time is ridiculous...

I went in for the Le Burger Week entry and it did not disappoint. It was a solid burger (and the rest of the ones on the menu sounded just a good). Well made patty, the pretzel bun was amazing, and toppings were great. The bacon is also amazing. Thick slices and flavourful. My wife had the club and it is massive and well balanced. The kids had the pizza special and it was really good as well. Light crisp crust with ample toppings and a zest sauce. Overall it was great. Only concern was that it took a little while for the food to come and my burger wasn't hot and felt like it started to cool off. That being said we will be back again.

We love that the food is made fresh and that the menu is always changing to reveal another culinary delight. Even their fantastic desserts are made in house. It might be on the edge of the city, but like they say in Steinbach, It's worth the trip! 6 stars ????

We were recently at Rae's Bistro with a party of 8 for dinner during an extremely busy Friday night. This place was absolutely phenomenal! From the extensive wine list and craft beer selections available on tap to the lovingly prepared appetizer and dinner specials they change weekly, everything was absolutely delicious! We had such a fabulous experience that we have booked another reservation already. The environment here is warm and cozy. Our server Naomi did a wonderful job and took excellent care of our party. I'll come check it out another time. Only downside: the man cave "art" up on the wall in the bathroom. It's sexist. Gender-neutral washrooms would take care of that. Would be 5 stars without the man cave art.

Sad because it was the absolute best breakfast restaurant in Winnipeg, the only restaurant in the city that served real homemade non-commercialized breakfast. Would love if they could bring it back

We celebrated my cousins birthday there and the whole experience was AMAZING! I recommend the Chorizo Dip....we all agreed we’d love to eat it as a soup. All the meals were delicious. Most ordered off their chalkboard menu. My shrimp and pasta dish was so flavourful. Definitely a new favourite place to go.

I had friends tell me how good this place is that I finally had to try it. It's amazing, the food is so good. I had the Rae's burger and soup of the day. It was absolutely delicious. The burger was so juicy and cooked to perfection and the soup was just as good. I also had the perogy appetizer (they change certain menu items weekly and this was one). My description wouldn't do it justice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

On Friday, July 10, we ordered multiple items from your menu at 6:05pm. A burger, a salad, and the charcuterie board. We confirm a pickup time for 7:00pm, which is a little long for the type of items being made, but we were looking forward to eating from a local restaurant, in the same neighbourhood. We only order out 2-3 times a month. We arrived at 7:00pm and called to receive our food, “no-contact delivery” as we were told by one of your workers. We were told it would come out shortly. By 7:15pm, no one had approached the vehicle or contacted us. We called the restaurant again, and was told “hey we’re a little backed up right now it will be out right away” by another worker. Sure enough, no food was delivered to the vehicle. By 7:30pm, and after waiting in my car for 30 minutes in 30 degree heat, I went inside. I asked where the food was, and was met with more excuses. I waited another 10-15 minutes for my order. The woman I spoke to at the front of the house informed me that she could not provide me with a discount or anything to rectify this situation other than provide me with a dessert. By 7:45pm, one hour and 45 minutes later, I finally got my food. I was told that the manager would be calling me the next day to rectify my dissatisfaction. Fortunately, the food was quite good, albeit the fries that came with the burger were cold. This is the ONLY reason for the one star of this review. We are more than happy to support a local establishment such as yours, but not when we feel that the service and timeliness of preparation is unacceptable. We understand that during this pandemic, restaurants have been under a lot of duress and strain, hence why we ordered locally to support local businesses. However, when you plan to let a customer know to show up for a certain time for pickup, your staff should know to estimate an appropriate time or be realistic with the timeline. Although it should not take 105 minutes to put together a burger, salad and a charcuterie board, if we were told the more realistic pick up time (7:45pm vs 7:00pm), we would have walked away a lot more satisfied. The food was good, but the experience left a sour taste in our mouths. We are even further disappointed in not being contacted by a manager, as was promised by the woman in the front of the house. We even sent an email with all the information above and we were never replied. We will not be coming back.

I love this place. Such a gem for the area. I drive out of my way to come here for brunch. The Margherita Benny is absolutely delicious as well as the Shakshouka. These are the best vegetarian brunch items in the city. The Fifty Mission Capp drink is terrible though. Get a coffee instead. Wish they had an espresso machine. Also, here is a picture of some of the brunch menu. Tough to find it online currently.

Ordered gluten free for Celiac, food came covered in fries which we were even told on the phone not to order due to cross contamination. So we ordered a side salad but got the fries instead. Salad wrap for burger had dirty lettuce. When I notified the business they chose not to respond to me.

This place is a hidden gem! Excellent service and food with happy hour drinks and appies. Great for a date or friends gathering too! They have talent on board, so foodies please check this place out! For March had the Lucky Charms cake slice (big enough to share) and new shrimp appetizer. Very impressed on the creativity with the food and freshness.

I can’t say enough good things about Rae’s! It is a local gem. Lovely atmosphere. Fantastic servers. I have been 3-4 times now and each time we’ve had a different server and they have all been over the moon amazing! As for the food. You can taste the passion that goes into it. The burgers are loaded with flavour. They do daily specials that are always very unique. I tried recently their hibiscus wings on special. Very unique taste. They always have something on special to spark your interest. Pizzas are amazing. And the beet chips. Make sure you save room for desserts because OMG I can’t even describe how good they are! They have several interesting desserts that change almost daily. Heads up the slice of cake you get is MASSIVE and good to share! I am not a big dessert person but I need to have dessert when I go there. It is like, close your eyes to eat it level good. Portions are massive and you always leave bursting at the seams lol. Great value for the price.

We live close-by and love going to Rae's. The food is very good and the service is as well. Always happy to support a small local business. They also have a good selection of local beer. I've been there on personal time as well has had lunch meetings for work. They will even reserve the whole restaurant for you if you have a group large enough and, obviously, make it worth it for them to close their doors for you. Great place overall.

Hidden gem! Noticed this place a couple weeks ago and finally popped in for lunch.... It was amazing! I had a burger and this delicious soup with so much veggies and meat it was borderline chili. Great prices and staff too! Will be back many more times.

We visited during Le Burger Week and we tried their feature burger, the Medusa. It did not disappoint! It was absolutely delicious. We even tried the dessert "burger" which was also delectable. The drinks were also great and the service was so friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

I'm only rating 4 stars, because they forgot my Sherly Temple. Like... they COMPLETELY forgot about it! I remembered specifically telling the waitress that I wanted to order a Shirley Temple! I wanted to be fancy like my friends and they completely forgot my drink order! Everything got resolved, the Shirley Temple was worth the wait and everything was fantastic! I just wish they had more vegetarian options.

Was unfortunately disappointed in the take out. Ordered a pizza and fish and chips. Pizza was basically raw, not cooked enough and not edible. The fries seemed old as they were very hard. The fish was good. But that was all we were able to eat from our order. Also had the mussels in restaurant once and once again, unfortunately, I was disappointed. They were overcooked, I've certainly had better in the city.

We recently got a menu in the mail for Rae’s Bistro + Lounge we all decided as a family of 3 that the menu looked amazing and decided to try it for a Saturday night Mother’s Day supper with my mother in law. We all loved our food choices so much that we looked at the menu again after eating and decided we will be eating there multiple times in the future and definitely eating something different every time.

Well I just visited for burger week, I walked up around 7 and was told there would be a half hour wait for one person, so I drove away, decided I would call back and see if I could make a reservation for 1 and was told there were 3 spots open... Within 5 minutes of me leaving... So when I went the burger and bartender we great! But the problem was is I waited almost an hour for a burger while I watched others come in and get their food (same order) and leave before I even got mine... The server apologized but seriously unacceptable even when Its busy. It was my first time here and was hoping to come back again but now I highly doubt it

I recently moved into the area and had to try this place. People had spoken highly of it, and since I was now living close by I went in. I LOVE this place! Cozy and classy. Great spread on the menu, burgers are a big hit, burbthey have mains, appetizers, salads, soups. They have a wall of local beers on tap, with some imports, but mostly local. Liquor and cocktails of course. Staff is super friendly, the food is great, the beer is great, and it's a local business. What else can I say except try it! Chicken poutine was great, and huge!

The food was really good; the service however was not. Waited a long time for our drinks, waited an even longer time for our entrees. Our entrees came before our appetizer, we wanted to cancel our app when we got our entrees but our server was nowhere in sight and a different person brought the app. Then we had no cutlery, had to go to the bar and ask for some. Missed details of our entrees, no gravy; just seemed like one error after another. I understand if the place was packed but it was maybe 3/4 full. We saw people we knew outside that wanted to get a table that were turned away. Very disappointed. Food-excellent; drinks-great. Thank goodness the hostess gave us water when we were seated otherwise we would’ve probably left.

First time here. I got the spinach salad and chicken breast and the caramel coffee cheesecake. The salad was delicious, and the chicken was warm and tender. The cheesecake was also really moist and delicious. The music was lively and fun for a mid-afternoon meal. Overall, I enjoyed my time there and plan on going back soon.

Lovely atmosphere with very knowledgeable staff. They took the time to tell us all about the specials that were on when I went. I LOVE the fact that there is a heater right above the door that blasts the area with warm air after someone opens the door and lets the frigid winter air in (well, it tries to get in!). I was sitting right by the door and was worried I’d get cold from people coming and going- but I was nice and comfortable the whole time! The drink menu is incredible with something for everyone, and they have special drinks that are so unique, creative and delicious! I want to come back again that’s for sure.

Last night I was meeting a girlfriend for dinner when due to a previous spinal cord issue my leg suddenly went numb and I fell to the ground before the doorway. It was a hard fall and I was completely discombobulated bcuz, in pain and needing assistance to get up. A man came running out to help and was very gentle. I asked him if he was the manager and he said he was the owner, named Danny. What a lifesaver! The hostess was also very kind while I fumbled around trying to find my vaccine card but couldn't for several minutes as I tried to pull myself together from the shock and scraped ankle. Bravo for great manners!

They came with vegetables and were cooked properly, tasted great. Just wish there was a different packaging for the fries, they unfortunately get soggy from the steam. But overall. The meals are definitely worth the price. The only downside tonight was that they had a staff have their birthday party at the restaurant, and they didn't have extra staff to accommodate. So ending service was slow as the serving staff was "distracted". When I'm ready to pay the bill I typically don't have to wait 15minutes to give the venue payment so I can leave. Otherwise, truly worth going to again. We have been in the past and service start to finish was great.

Rae’s is one of those places that you eat at, and immediately tell everyone you know to go check it out. We’ve been here twice, once pre-covid, and once immediately after lockdown ended. Both visits were amazing. Attentive wait staff, cozy and trendy atmosphere, and delicious food. Tonight my partner and I each tried a different burger. The sweet heat burger was to die for - though pretty mild on the spice level! What it lacked in spiciness was made up for in flavor. My partner had the daily special avocado burger, which he absolutely devoured. We did have to wait a while for the food, but I chalk that up to the freshness and quality of the food so I cannot fault them for that! I had the Athenian salad as a side, which is the best Greek salad I’ve ever had, while my partner ordered the fries. He said, and I quote, “there is literally nothing I would change about these fries”. Additionally, for anyone who is weary about eating out during a pandemic - I’d recommend you use Rae’s to dip your toes in the water. They screen at the door, mandate mask use when you’re away from your table, check ID’s on entry to verify same household, plus tall plexiglass between each table to mitigate spread of germs. All and all, Rae’s hit it out of the park. Cant wait to come back!

Rae's is my new favorite restaurant in the east end of the city! The food has all been fantastic, flavourful, fresh and comes out hot. The menu is creative and I love the ever changing specials. Yes, you want to eat the chorizo dip, which is a regular menu item. So good! Service is always great, friendly and the staff seems happy. The steak is very good and I could imagine paying more for the same cut of meat elsewhere. I've also had cake delivered and it's AMAZING! They aways have creative ideas for cake and their Facebook page keeps selling me on visiting or ordering. I have not been disappointed. Great place for a date, hanging out with friends, a visit with friends are to sit at the bar and watch a game.

Have been to Raes Bistro a couple of times before and always had a very good dining experience, even with take out the food was superb. But today we tried their Burger Week entry and an order of chicken wings. The burger was ok it was not as good as previous years entry but the wings were bad….. upon our first bite you will be assaulted by that distinct off putting smell of old, chicken and inside was still a bit bloody. Completely ruined our dinner and might have food poisoned us. Really disappointing.

This has become one of our favourite restaurants over the past year and with an excellent restaurant scene in Winnipeg this is surprisingly the only one we will attend regularly. We try to go once every couple weeks as the menu is always changing to feature new, delicious, fresh, creative, high quality desserts, appetizers and entrees. the pictures do no do the flavour of the food justice (and I'll admit that the pictures look incredible). The staff is friendly, knowledgable and knows how to read your preferred serving style. The cutlery and decor are high quality to match a premium atmosphere and ambiance. Rae's is worth every second of the drive regardless of where you live in the city.

We were astounded that they featured SIX specials, each a unique twist on a classic. It's a cute little restaurant/lounge. The menu is pretty unique, especially the drink menu. The waitresses/bartenders that were serving us were super friendly and courteous. However, there was one girl with fake eyelashes and long fake nails and black hair (I'm assuming that she's a waitress)... well, we smiled at her and she looked at us like we were gross to her or something. The whole time, she gave us these cold stares, like she didn't want us there. But anyways, besides that, our visit was nice and interesting. I love that they have a good variety for their drinks. I'd like to come back and try more food and drinks. Hopefully that one waitress smiles for a change, and changes her attitude. I'd feel a lot more comfortable.

I would love to give this place a great review but the 4 tables that are in here cant get any food. we have all been waiting for over an hour since ordering but at least 1 table has gotten food in 90 minutes If we ever get food I can tell you if it's good or not Finally got the food and everything was like warm. burgers, fries, pizza and grilled chicken in the salad was all warm. Food was good just would have been nice to eat it in a decent amount of time and hot. Place was not busy, maybe 30 percent capacity when we were there.

Incredible food and service. Went while covid 19 policies still in effect, everyone maintaining proper social distancing yet staff were attentive as ever. The food - wow - you will encounter dishes here that have been well thought out. This is not trendy food with the latest kale salad band wagon but rather a concise set of ingredients and sauces that pair amazingly together to make your food dish taste out of this world. We had to start the shrimp and poutine. Both dishes were done wonderfully - the shrimp was cooked perfectly and the poutine was seasoned well (not too salty) Main courses - shrimp pasta - shrimp pizza - Raes pizza. All pizzas doughs were very tasty and toppings were done in a way that didn't make the pizza heavy and soggy but rather dense and flavorful. The pasta was done to the correct level of Al dente and again shrimp was not too soft, not too firm. Dessert -chocolate cake - peanut butter ice cream cake. The chocolate cake wasn't some 12365423 calorie dense cake that made you hate your life but rather fluffy, chocolatey and joyful. The peanut butter cake used wow butter so nothing with actual peanuts and was a homage to the peanut butter square with the marshmellows that we have. All had. This was my first time going - was expecting a original Joe's / elephant castle / dime a dozen comfort food stop and was totally blown away by the quality and taste. Do yourself a favor and try it out! Also - local beers are served here too! Big plus!
