The bright colours, amazing aromas of food and upbeat reggae makes this place instantly inviting. The food is amazing! The portions are decent and the mango cheesecake is a must! 10/10 guys!

The worst experience ever! We waited for about 45 minute just for a Benedict!!! And when we saw they have lots of delivery, we follow up on our fopd, they said at least we should wait for another 15 minute as they have lots of online orders and besides that their chef cut his hand! Are you kidding! Please let your customers know before taking one hour of their time!!! I'm surprised with their high rate reviews! Worst customer service! If your chef cut his hand, how come You were just taking care of your online orders?! We asked couple of times how long would be the food get ready, you even didn't answer your customer and update us. It's shame that you're not respecting your customers that are seating there and just taking care of your online orders as your waitress told us!!!

Service here was beyond terrible. We were served food that was previously served to another table. The other table added sauces etc to the food, then the server took it back and tried to pass it off on us as our order. Very poor. Will not be going back. No apology, no action to make it right. I would recommend against this "restaurant"!

Had the jerk chicken and it was spicy, flavourful and juicy for white meat. The rice was good and the veggies were just ok. I am glad they had the veggies on the side just so it made the meal a bit healthier. My wife got the pork and that had a really hearty flavour. It was really complex in terms of flavour. The fries were fresh and tasted really good too. Kinda like New York fries style with the skin still on. The only thing is that the food took a while to come but it was worth the wait.

The best kind of place, if you're just passing through or you are a foody looking for another Saturday lunch spot, this place will blow your mind. The food is stellar, and the spice levels are just right. It will definitely be a regularly visited place when I'm in town.

The jerk chicken was amazing. One sniff and I knew it was the real deal. Beautifully balanced spices, sweetness, and fall off the bone tender meat. A bit milder spice than I can handle but it truly is a taste of Jamaica. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. You will be hard pressed to find a better example of jerk chicken.

OMFG. We had the chicken roti, jerk chicken kabobs and the pulled pork bacon sandwich. All was super delicious, authentic Jamaican jerk. Great flavour with just the right amount of heat. Would highly recommend. Get the Johnny cakes. Could eat about 10!!

I was the only customer in the restaurant when I went in which was nice. I ordered the BBQ JERK CHICKEN KABOB. The rice and peas were on point but the chicken and Caribbean styled veggies not so much. They don't have the traditional leg option only a kabob and I was not a fan of the jerk sauce. They veggies seemed to be from frozen corn, beans and carrots with cabbage. Traditional Jamaican veggies served with chicken and rice and peas from what I have had would be cabbage, peppers, onions, carrots and seasons with thyme and a scotch bonnet pepper. I will not be going back.

I just got back from this place and it was a great experience. Restaurant was clean and casual. Waitress was super nice and helpful with ordering. She recommended I have the jerk pork and it was so delicious. It was probably some of the best tasting pork I have ever eaten, no joke. It was accompanied by some seasoned rice and veggies with went well with the somewhat spicy pork. Meat was super tender and well flavoured. My eating companions also had the rum cake for dessert which I tasted and it was really nice too. Good rum taste and sort of spiced flavour from the cake. Chef came out for a chat as it wasnt too busy and was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place. The total for three of us was 54 dollars for 3 mains, one drink and a dessert.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience of the Jamaican Kitchen location. Horrible and I will never go again. I just went in today with a baby and a toddler and asked for a dish that was not very spicy for my toddler and was suggested the jerk chicken by the lady working at the counter. She said she would ask him the cook to make it less spicy as well. I ordered the jerk as well as two other dishes and asked how long it would take. I was told 10-15 mins, that was fine. Then the lady working at the counter came out to my car to tell me that there was no jerk chicken after I already paid. She then asked if i wanted kabobs instead but they were a different price so I ended up having to pay an extra $1.50. Then when my order was ready I was about to go home with the takeout and noticed that my order was light and found I was missing an entire meal. I then had to wait an extra 15- 20 mins for them to make the extra meal. I waited in the car with my baby and toddler , who screamed btw because it was taking so long. When I got the meals back home the only dish warm was the last one cooked. Had it all been done at the same time this would not have happened. To top it off my toddlers dish was way way to spicy that he cried so hard after the first bite. My husband and I tried it and we found it spicy for even us and we like spice. If I could rate this no stars, I would. I looked for a phone number online to complain and could not find one. You'd think they would throw in a free pie or something for the triple mess up. :( Also I ordered the coconut rice and peas and got rice with beans. My rotti was hard and was more like a whole wheat wrap. I'm not happy!

We had dinner here while visiting Kamloops for two nights. It was exactly what we were looking for and would make eating here a priority when passing through. Everything was delicious and fresh. Wee had goat, pork and chicken. The jerk pork with seasoned rice was the absolute best, everything was great though! We also had the rumcake a la mode and it didn't last very long. The restaurant was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

My wife has been dying to try this place since we moved to Kamloops over a year ago because she's vegan and saw some great reviews on some of their Vegan friendly dishes. We finally got the opportunity to go in for Brunch today and it did not disappoint. We both had skillet dishes (1 Jamaican & 1 Vegan) and both were quite good and very filling. The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 star is because it took quite a bit of time to get our food (over 30 minutes) which can feel like an eternity when you're hungry. We will definitely be back to try other dishes and give that patio a try :)

My family loves Jam Can. We regularly go for breakfast as a treat to ourselves. The service is always exceptional and the food is delicious. For those that have had a bad experience I highly suggest you try them again. As a small business owner myself it's sometimes hard to always be on your game and have things work out perfectly for every customer even though that's our intention. These folks are trying very hard to be successful at business and our family thinks they are doing a top notch job. Jamaican Kitchen is my go to breakfast spot: excellent service, good coffee, and amazing jerk/savory breakfast choices. It didn't take long for the servers and chef to know 'our usual', and they always are sure to offer a smile and a greeting as you go by. I highly recommend this restaurant, and should add that they also offer great 'traditional' eggs and bacon breakfasts.

Honestly, considering that I've had Jamaican food in Florida, Montreal, Toronto and Calgary, I'd say this hidden gem was better than almost all of them and by far better than Calgary's. The Roti was excellent and my curried goat was well seasoned and tender. Definitely a return stop the next time I'm back in Kamloops.

Don’t ever order takeout. They are sloppy with service. I ordered take out curry goat. The take out container was cracked and flimsy and they didn’t even close the container. I should have checked when I left the restaurant but pretty quickly I had a plastic bag full of curry as it all leaked. When I called the restaurant they didn’t seem to care that they did this. Last week I ordered goat curry and it was just bones and barely any meat. I Was hoping it was a one off and reordered today. Terrible customer service for take out and dine in! They don’t serve their customers in order of priority. The cashier picked the person in line behind me by waving her and took her order while I was the next in line.

My dad took me to this restaurant as its right across the street from this place. What a great replacement and refreshing taste for that area which is saturated by Asian restaurants. I had the jerk salad with the Johnny cake - it was delicious! I just went to a Jamaican restaurant in Vancouver and it was a big disappointment after this place! I would like to thank the nice blonde short haired lady who was serving the entire restaurant alone! She was calm and had excellent time management skills! 5 stars for both food and service - cant wait to go back!

OMG! WHAT took me so long to visit?! Besides COVID... I finally made it to JK for the Jamaican Sunshine eggs benny the other morning. BEST flavours this side of the Caribbean Sea! The place is tiny but welcoming, the aromas are so inviting and the food transported me right back to Negril! The heat and citrus in the jersey sauce were perfectly balanced, the soft yolk set off the spicy meat perfectly and everything on the plate was prepared exceptionally...with love! Thank you so much! First off, AMAZING service. We had a party of 10 adults and they were quick to refill water without needing to be asked, served everyone's food at the same time, which is huge for a party that big. I had the pumpkin soup, johnny cakes, and rum cake. The soup was delicious, not too spicy, but hearty and filling. The rum cake was delicious and definitely soaked with rum! The best for me? The Johnny Cakes. Oh my goodness. My soup came with one, and it was perfect, but we ordered some with Mango Butter & Coconut Butter as well, and that I gotta tell you is my new go to dessert. Piping hot, with delicious melty butters for dipping, so delicious. My other half ordered a Jerk Chicken Burger and loved it too! Thanks for a great evening, it was our first time eating here and we'll definitely be back!

My husband and I go here approx every six weeks ( not often enough!!) He has the breakfast skillet and I have the Jamaican sunshine. OMG SO SO Good. So times the service is a little slow, but seriously, if that's the price you pay for excellent food, well it's worth every penny, and the food is even better if you wait a little longer. I cant recommend this place enough. Huge thanks!!

I would never in a thousand years expect to find a Jamaican restaurant in Kamloops but someone referred me to this wonderful gem, it a family run authentic Jamaican restaurant with home made Jamaican patties! It’s very comfortable with great staff and wonderful ambiance, the food is great and it’s brought to you quickly with fry dumpling vegetables as well as rice an peas, huge portions and great taste! Worth a visit!

Must be the best burger in town but there are many other options I'm excited to try, including vegetarian and vegan. Staff as outstanding as the food, efficient, friendly, funny. Nice atmosphere too. It's kid-friendly, they were great to mine and he loved his smaller burger and fries, but it's also got an adult vibe where you could enjoy a Red Stripe on the patio. Looking forward to going back.

YUM! Recently moved to Kamloops from Ottawa/Toronto and wasn't sure what to expect here. We ordered chicken roti, goat roti, Johnny cakes, and rum cake for dessert. Everything was delicious and the curry was amazing. Salad was super fresh and portions were a great size and reasonably priced. The rice could have been a bit spicier, but next time, I will order some hot sauce on the side. My only criticism is the styrofoam packaging, that I would happily pay extra to avoid, if given the option. We were so full, didn't even try the rum cake yet! Looking forward to exploring the menu more and trying different items. Thanks for an amazing dinner!

Used to be a loyal Jam-Can supporter but gave up... food can be hit and miss, when its a miss, they don't care and throw up excuses! they never offer to make it right, which is a shame... seems like they don't care... Surprised they don't want to make it right. My friend ordered the vegitarian roti, to get chicken in it, and the waitress ARGUED with him that it wasn't chicken he was looking at... very poor practice... same waitress said the burgers have no onions in them but was delivered with onions throughout the patty... They make it your fault if they do something wrong rather than make it right... I used to tell everyone about this place, and now, I don't bother. I loved the food myself until my regular meal "brown stew chicken" came out as "brown scorched chicken" with no sauce, no flavor, and dried out as much as possible. It shouldn't have been served... The rice was dead and should have been thrown out as well, the Johnny Cake was fine tho, the veggies were over cooked mush but edible... so 3/4 things were bad.. that's a definite miss.. They should have comp'd the meal and told me to come back again and they'll make it right, but they don't care... SAD. I used to once SAVOR my meals at the Jam-Can, look forward to every trip there, I'd come out of there with flavors filling my taste buds, I loved it.. Many Many times over.. and I admit that NO one is PERFECT. But the way they handle problems is despicable, it's like its YOUR fault for complaining... and YOUR PROBLEM not THEIRS. Well I'll take my business elsewhere... when the food is on, this place is really good, when its not, don't expect much, and they expect you to still pay for crap. I hope it improves but I won't be going back for now.

Sunday brunch. arrived @ 11:30 ordered 2 skillet breakfasts and a grilled ham & cheese sandwich. Food took 50 minutes to arrive and hardly any fries on the plate with the grilled sandwich. We were told they were just waiting for more fries. Had to mention it to the server 3 times and finally got the fries 25 minutes later when we were ready to leave. Table next to us was a couple..the gentleman received his food and was finished and plate removed from the table before his companion received her food. Seems to be very unorganized. Nobody apologized for anything until we got up to pay the bill (which we had asked for at our table but never came). Server was pleasant enough but the overall experience was bad. Food was okay.

I had a hard crash on the coq and been recovering in a hotel for a few days while I figure out how to pay all the bills and this food was the best part of my week. I love spicy food and Jamaican food is super delish, whether you order spice or not. If you like BBQ, fresh fluffy pot pies and spice...click and go. Order the jerk chicken, brown stew and Johnny boys.

We were part of a group tour and only had 40 to 45mins to find a restaurant for a quick meal. We were served by lovely wait staff who expedited our food order to ensure we had enough time to eat our food. The jerk chicken was very juicy, a tad sweet with super refreshing greens and red rice. We also tried the Johnson and patty. Definitely preferred the flavourful patty crush for sure!! We even had the privilege of listening to the chef singing while preparing food!! Very charming eatery!

Jamaican kitchen is easily one of the best restaurants Kamloops. No matter what mood I'm in I can always enjoy their food. The Jamaican skillet might be the best breakfast I've ever had. The staff is kind and personal. I can just enter the restaurant and sit down and they'll prepare my regular order. You don't get that kind of service anywhere. The entire menu is amazing and you can never go wrong with their lunch specials for the price. They also skip the dishes and the food still tastes good by the time it gets to you. One of the best restaurants Kamloops has to offer, everyone should at least try it.

Was in town for a couple of days, thought we would check out the restaurant since we were driving down Tranquille Rd. Food and service were great, had the special with a mix of stew chicken and wings, good portion and not too spicy. Family had jerk chicken burgers and kabobs, everything was good. I have never written a review before but believe that I must. I visited the Jamaican Kitchen for breakfast this morning, and enjoyed the Pork Jerk Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Rum Sauce on Johnny cakes. Oh my goodness......the pulled pork and egg with the rum sauce on these beautiful buns.......heaven. These were the best eggs benedict that I have ever enjoyed. They were served with spinach and cuts of yam lightly fried to perfection. The service was outstanding, very friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is bright, clean, loved the tiled washroom. I would like to try other menu items during lunch and dinner. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

As an avid Pho eater I used to visit the Tranquille Rd North Shore Donut King almost every week. The last time I was there, I quietly returned my meal because the Pho's meat was uncooked even after I mixed it with the hot broth and it smelled different, not in a good way. I though it was a one time mistake and went back today with my child who loves Pho. To my horror, the teenager who took my order last time was very rude and loud telling me that he was not going to take my order because "last time I returned it." I was left speechless. I've never had that kind of rude treatment experience and had been going to both North Shore and Sahali locations. Next time I want Pho I will go to the Sahali location. I don't need to feel like I'm on a "Seinfield episode at the soup counter". Lastly, I hope that for the sake of their business they send that kid to intensive training or just get him out of the front and kitchen.

First time my wife and I walked in we quickly turned around and left...the noise level was way too high. Someone needs to tell the owner that loud boisterous conversations with his pals discourages business. We re-entered a few minutes later and asked if they make fresh, not from frozen dough, donuts... "yes they are made at our other location and delivered here in the morning". Had a banana filled and an ice capp. The donuts are just what you would expect from an oriental (Vietnamese) owned coffee shop... made from frozen dough and stale. The ice capp was barely frozen too. Another wannabe Tim Ho's. GROSS. However... the young lady that served us was super friendly and helpful... A real paradox...coffee shop/ice cream shop/Vietnamese food... Off my grid.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience at this place. My wife and I stopped at this restaurant to have breakfast before going back to Vancouver. The restaurant was not very busy. We sat on the patio and we were the only table in the patio that was waiting for the food. We ordered egg benedict and typically it shouldn’t take more than 15-20minutes to get prepared but we were waiting for more than 45 minutes and eventually decided to leave as the waitress told us we would need to wait at least another 15 minutes to get our food. They told us the long wait was due to an emergency in their kitchen but we noticed at the same time they gave at least five takeout food pack to delivery guys so the main reason in my view was that they were giving priority to their takeout food. Actually, I asked this question and I was surprised with the answers given. They told they could not delay their takeout food because the delivery company, Skip the Dishes, has maximum 30 minutes wait time policy! So it sounds our time was less valuable than them. It was really disappointing as they didn’t tell us even a word about the emergency, the priority of their takeout food and possible delay the first two times I asked about our food. Every time the said our food will be ready shortly. They only mentioned about it when we said we will leave if our food doesn’t come in next five minutes. We could feel much better if they had explained their emergency case and their takeout policy before I ask about the delay or at least the first time I asked about it rather than telling us that our food would come shortly and keep us waiting. So we could decide to wait or to leave based on what we had planned for our day. I could be much more respectful approach. A good manager could handle this situation much better. My wife wrote a review before me and explained about our experience. In response, they called her selfish so I decided to write mine separately. As a basic rule, when you receive a negative review, it is better you find out what you could do better rather than being impolite to the people who provided you with a feedback. This would help you to improve.

Great Food when it is right, don't go just before closing, they will serve you old food that should be thrown away, make you pay, and expect you to be happy. They do not take criticism at all, the food, for the most is usually VERY GOOD, but for awhile, had many off-days. I used to be a regular and enjoyed this restaurant very much, but after writing a review about the place on another site, I was banned from the place by the owner. Very childish approach, I've never seen this anywhere else, I eat at a lot of places, not sure why the owner would want to take this approach, but, I guess whatever makes him happy in the end.

I ordered eggs benedict. Usually it's a yellow creamy sauce, but this was a white sauce and was ice cold!! Plus it was sprinkled with grated carrots and purple cabbage! Absolutely discusting!!! Oh, and to top it off, the cook argued with me. Freakin jerk! Never again! And that was my second time with shitty food!!
