First time visiting this restaurant and it's hard to get a reservation for a reason! Food, drinks and service were excellent. We started with some cocktails, they were expertly made and delicious. Appetizers were the ceviche and escargot. The ceviche was pleasant, but the escargot was outstanding. Mains were elk meatloaf and smoked duck. Both dishes were well portioned, balanced flavors, and very tasty. Look forward to going back and exploring the menu further!

Went here with 6 other people. Most of our food was cold and disappointing. My gnocchi was chewy in a way it should not be. I have had better from a package and can make better gnocchi myself. I feel that is saying quite a lot. While I am not vegetarian I usually prefer meals not based around giant portions of meat. If that is your thing, you will like this place. Its typical Kamloops cowboy food. If you actually want to enjoy a quality meal that might actually have a fair amount vegetables in it, this is not your place.

There site makes no indication that you need to make a reservation (which doesn't surprise me as it looks like it hasn't been updated in months). If you are ever considering this place, plan ahead as they are super small and only open for four hours each day.

Amazing food...went there for a Christmas party, and had a great time. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. My only disappointment was the fact that they could use a faster bartender or maybe an extra. Drinks were served too slow for my liking, but that's my one and only complaint.

I couldn’t possibly recommend this restaurant more. The elk meatloaf was mindblowing. We also ordered leek cream pasta, which was delicious, house made bread, which was outstanding, as well as ahi tuna, and rabbit gnocchi. All was absolutely top notch.

Christmas party with my fiance, excellent service, excellent food, even with the fact that there were 15 of us in the party. Food was hot and flavourful, and a little bit exotic. Not everywhere serves duck or rabbit and gets it right. Our dinner was paid for, but next time we fo I'm sure it'll be so worth it.

This is an amazing place to eat. The server's and chef's are great. We are repeat customers. I have to mention this.... the last time we were dining in my wife suffers with scent allergies and reaction to strong chemical scents. We mentioned to a server the aerosol spray being used in the public washroom gave her a reaction and also overpowered the restaurant food smells and became so bad we though we may have to leave. We politely recommended an all natural product we use from Natures fare here in Kamloops. Well when we returned to dine tonight wouldn't you know they had purchased the natural air spray and it was in the washrooms. Wow! Hats of to listening to the customer. This is a restaurant we will return to time and time again not only for the great food but also for a business taking the time to listen to positive feedback and take action. Well done!

While most of the evening was pretty good there were a few things that just weren’t so great. For being covid season the small dining area of the restaurant was quite packed so we tried to be as quick as we could once every table became full very shortly upon our arrival. Waiting quite a while for our meals we ordered a starter to keep us busy while also asking the waitress to turn up the heat as the single pane window seating was quite cold. The food was good except the starch and veg of our meals were fairly unpleasant. My beef shank whipped potatoes were very much over whipped and very glue like. And my partners leek bread pudding was stiff and tasted off as if it was older and over seasoned. The veg was beets and snap peas and the peas were way over cooked to brown almost mush. The tastes were amazing but the doneness needed more attention. Our server was very nice and well attentive. Would definitely go back back to give them another shot. Maybe on a warmer evening.

We had a lovely patio table on a warm summer evening. That was the beginning of great dining experience. I've eaten my share of meals around the world and this restaurant is among one of the bests I have ever visited. The food was exquisitely prepared and beautifully served. The portions were very ample and as our waitress told us, 'no one leaves here hungry'. Located in an old bank, this restaurant exudes atmosphere inside and out. Can't wait to return next year!

My wife enjoyed her duck, and we both enjoyed our kombucha although served in a relatively small glass. But... things went badly wrong with my steak. I asked for rare but it was more like medium and definitely not medium rare. Minus one star. The steak was also very fatty to the point that I actually had to spit out what I was eating at one point. Can't remember this ever happening at another restaurant in the last 10 years. Minus one star. One of my tomatoes was burned / black on one side. Minus one star. Several of the potatoes were also burned and very chewy. Minus one star. When we asked for the bill I pointed out the issues and the server turned lippy and said it doesn't look like there was a problem because you ate nearly everything. Minus one star. I pointed out that we were in a hurry otherwise I would have sent it back. The lippy server said it's not their fault if I didn't give them the chance to make things right. She charged me the full price for the sub par meal.

We've been to the Brownstone quite a few times before, but this time we were going for a birthday dinner. We were really surprised they changed their decor to a stark white with bright lights. The ambiance and decor was always one of the main reasons we went there, but now I felt like I was in a cafeteria with bright lights shining in my eyes. I realize this is the trend but always felt the Brownstone stayed true to the heritage of the building. I liked it better before. I dont understand the social distancing of the tables. There seemed to be the same amount of tables but they were spaced out really weird. One small table was literally next to the door when you came in. The table blocked the adjoining door. The staff wore the plastic shields going halfway down their face, but no masks. The cooking staff did not wear masks. The waitress seemed a little scattered as she came to tell us the Dinner Specials AFTER we ordered our dinner... Say what???? Our food was a little sub-par, but not great. I expected more for the price. There never seems to be any variety in their menu. We did get complimentary champagne for my birthday at the end of the meal, which was great, and to be honest was my favourite part of the meal!! We always liked it in the past, but we WONT be back.......

I have had lunch at the Brownstone twice, and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. It is a very upscale place, and the food is unique as well as tasty (with many healthy options). I really enjoyed the variety of different kinds of iced teas and lemonades that they have (as did my kids). The service is good, although at lunch they seemed to be a little slower than I would prefer. That said, the staff is very friendly, and this is not the kind of place that you want to rush through your meal at anyway.

Loved the building and the way they are maintaining it. Amazing hospitality and they always keeps an eye on you to find an opportunity to help you out when you are in need. Prompt service. And the food was so yum. Winter sangria was spot on so was the bacon wrapped elk meatloaf. The pasta in seafood main was so good that I felt like eating eventhough I was full. And the Chocolate cake was so good with its flavour, texture and bitterness. Loved it with the strawberry flavour on side. Overall a 10/10 with no flaws. Really a great restaurant and great people.

First time we had been to the restaurant. Though we would give it a try after hearing good things. Went with my parents who were from out of town. Service and ambiance were great but the 2 star rating is because of the food. The meals were terrible. Had to send some plates back due to the entire plate being too salty. The pork chops were cooked in a brine solution and I could understand why they were so salty, but the veggies and potatoes were also so salty as to be inedible. My Dad, being from the prairies puts a lot of salt on his food, and even without any added salt had to send his entire meal back. The restaurant did the right thing and took the meals off the bill, but we were still quite disappointed.

For a restaurant of its class I gave it a 4 star. Due to the lack of service. We would finish our meal and have to wait a really long time for the plate to be cleared and have the next course. When we did receive it, it tasted really good. Presentation was average for its class but done better then regular franchise restaurants. Atmosphere is very loud when inside but overall a good experience. Also portion sizes were huge for what we expected with the price.

While the food was decent, I was less than impressed by the service. There was no air conditioning during an intense heat wave, and we were mostly ignored. My friends and I arrived, and were immediately ignored by the serving staff. I don't know if this was because of the date/time (we had a reservation, and it wasn't busy), or because we look quite young (I'm going to assume it was for this reason). Nevertheless, we were seated and waited a full 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Our drinks subsequently took another 10 minutes, and were only refilled once as an afterthought by a different server. Again, I reiterate that the restaurant was not busy and there was plenty of service staff. Eventually, a bus boy took our order. He seemed nervous and entirely unsure of what he was supposed to do. The food was lackluster and some of it was cold. Shame on the rest of the staff, and particularly the older lady with short, dark hair who initially looked at us with disdain and proceeded to ignore us for the remainder of our dinner. Little did she know that we are all professionals in our respective fields and would have left a significant tip, had we received appropriate service. I will most certainly not be recommending this establishment to others.

This place absolutely kills it. I spend a lot of time involved with food and kitchens, and they execute flawless dishes again and again. Nailing the salt isn't the easiest thing to do across a complex menu, but it's these simple things they do well here. Cocktails are original and outstanding. This place easily outclasses many plates I've had in Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver. Definitely worth diverting to Kamloops just for dinner and drinks. Only thing I felt was iffy was the wine and beer list, but with cocktails like that, why waste time with that stuff anyway...

This is imho the best restaurant in Kamloops, in what is an increasingly diverse and interesting restaurant scene. Wonderful owners. Michelin attention. Refined but accessible cuisine. Lovely room and outdoor patio. Great part of town with a walk to Riverside Park before or after. Creative cocktails and good wine and beer offerings. Think of a cosy but busy bistro in Burgundy and you've got the Brownstone. Kamloops is so blessed to have this restaurant in their town because it would soar anywhere.

My spouse and I really enjoy Brownstone and visit almost every time we are in Kamloops. The restaurant is located in a lovely heritage building and has a beautiful courtyard. Service is always outstanding. The food is made from fresh, local ingredients- including some grown in the restaurant's own garden. Always delicious with a made-from-scratch feel. The chef was even able to accomodate a vegetarian entrée, despite the menu being animal protein forward. They have a great local wine list and are one of the only restaurants I've seen offering a wine flight. Remember to leave room for a decadent dessert or sample one of the extensive offerings of espresso beverages and liquid desserts.

We haven't been to too many restaurants in Kamloops but this is definitely the best we have tried. Excellent ambience on the shaded patio on a very warm Kamloops evening. Truly fine dinning. In Kamloops, there are a lot of pricey places. Few will hope to deliver on the big hopes those prices bring like Brownstone. Simply incredible.

A beautiful discovery off of the Rocky Mountaineer. On Tuesday evening, myself and my two sisters had a wonderful evening out on the patio. Our server, Jena, was absolutely fantastic and was extremely sweet and suggestive. The food exceeded our expectations given the outstanding reviews and we were anything but disappointed. Be sure to try the flourless chocolate cake, it is to die for!

Sickened and disgusted to find out that they serve Foie Gras. The birds suffer large amounts of abuse to ensure their livers are fattened up enough to make this. In this day and age, I'm really surprised that a restaurant like Brownstone would serve such a thing

One of the best restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at full stop. The meals are delicious, creative, the portions are large without being wasteful and the high quality of the produce is evident. Brownstone is a wonderful restaurant and really a hidden gem in Kamloops. The restaurant took over a former CIBC bank. They cleverly worked their restaurant decor with the historic bank’s architecture. It has high ceilings and multiple connected dining areas. You can always find something to look at when you sit inside. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The servers were all very speedy and provided good recommendations when we told them it’s our first time visiting the restaurant. We ordered two appetizers (sausage and a soup), as well as two mains (ahi tuna and steak). The ahi tuna was cooked to perfection and the flavour combinations were on point. The steak was also grilled to a medium rare with good char marks. We also ordered a flight of BC wine as per our server’s suggestion. Every dish was prepared with care and great attention to detail. We can tell they emphasize on freshness and focus on bringing out the best of each ingredient. Overall we were thoroughly impressed by the service, ambiance and their food. It was elegant and well executed. I highly recommend anyone visiting Kamloops to at least dine here for one of their meals.

Atmosphere, cocktails, wine, and food were all as expected. Most mains ranged from $20-$35 with appies and desserts on either end between $10 and $20 on average. Wines were pricy without an option for 1/2 or 1L decanters as all wines came from bottles; however there was quite a decent selection. Cocktails were exquisite and well priced between $10 and $15. Overall a pleasant experience.

Really bad steak. Ive been eating here for 10 years now and I always get the steak. I get steak at every decent restaurant. Every single time I get steak here it gets worse and worse. My first time I was very impressed but tonight I got the worst steak I have ever eaten in my life. Their head chef previously worked at Swiss chalet. Place is a dump now. I know restaurant steak and they pulled the bait and switch on me. They served me a cheap cut of steak and dressed it up with a tasty sauce to cover the low quality steak. The second I layed my eyes on the steak I was disappointed. I could just tell from looking at the steak it was going to be awful. It was thin and grey. It was very chewy and way too raw for me. They couldn’t cook it because it would get even chewier. They couldn’t even get any Millard reaction on the steak. I was served a $6-$10 super market steak and paid $40. Pretty insulting. I won’t be returning to Brown Stones again. I would tell the manager but they know what they’re doing. Get a better cut of steak and charge $50 or more. Who cares just make it taste good.

Brownstone is a gem in Kamloops! The service, quality, and food taste is fabulous. The fresh homemade French bread was worth the visit. The taste of fresh butter in the dough was addictive. The strip steak was prepared to a perfect medium rare. One if the best steaks I gave ever had. My spouse had the pork tenderloin special, nicely prepared and very tender. We finished our meal with the okanogan peach cobbler. If you ever pass through Kamloops you gave to have dinner at brownstone’s. reservations are necessary.

My wife and I have been coming to Brownstones for many years. We come for special occasions because this restaurant is amazing. 1st class fine dining. I’m part of Air Canada as flight crew and eat around the world often. I’m thrilled that Brownstones is in my backyard. Affordable not to mention the food is amazing, presentation, atmosphere etc. They have never disappointed. We look forward to our next visit.
