Here you have all the information of real people like you who bought the services and products of Kimchi House (Restaurant) near Jasper (Canada).
At this moment the business has a score of 3.9 stars over 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is very high, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the evaluation is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their score when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to write evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of Korean restaurant.
Food was pretty good, although it didn't come with the usual free banchan that is typical of Korean restaurants.
Super delicious! Our waitress was super friendly and fast! The food was AMAZING. You get a lot for a good price honestly. I highly recommend! We will be back next visit! ????
A basic Korean restaurant, nothing to write home about but one of few Asian restaurants available here. Pleasant staff and ok taste food.
I don't remember the name of the food that I ordered, but it was a very large serving and delicious. The owner is very nice and friendly, always happy and smiling. We went there during the October Thanksgiving long weekend and the place was practically empty, must be why we had faster and better service? (Just reading the other complaints about service from other customers).
We waited for 10 minutes to order to and 30 for food, only to have the worst Korean food of my life. I’m not even try to hate, but go there when there are not many people and the chief can actually focus on making food that matches their title.
Great bibimbap and dumplings at decent prices for being in the middle of the mountains.
A little bit surprised and a little not surprised to find this excellent Korean restaurant in Jasper. The staff were very nice, and the service was very prompt.
Feel like going to Jasper just for the food i had.
Great service and yummy food, it’s not cheap, but u expect that in a tourist town, we ordered the 2 person seafood hotpot, it warmed us up after a chilly hiking trip.
The Bulgogi was good. However we were not notified from the beginning that it was served with rice and so we ordered extra rice. The fried noodle dish was good as well. I would recommend this restaurant as a place to go but ensure you ask enough questions to the serving staff members in order to get a clearer understanding of what you are ordering. Food comes out rather quickly and it is generally cooked well.
Service was really good and food was way too delicious. If you like to try different cuisines must visit this one.
I read old reviews and wasn't super interested in this place, but my girlfriend really wanted to go. It was a good choice. The place was warm, the waitresses friendly, and the service was fast. I read it wasn't, so that inspired me to write a good review. We got the Assorted Jungol with the beef.....man it was good???? I destroyed that dish. Ttekbokki was also good ???? filled me up with no bloating, its healthy.
Every time we go the food is so good! Fresh and tasty! Service is always super nice and helpful as well!
We were referred by the front desk of our hotel. We were a bit concerned when seeing review is only 3.6. We went for dinner. When we arrived, there was a line! The food is great and service too. The vegetables were extremely fresh for a tourism town. It's authentic Korean food and the price is good too! The seaweed salad is only $3. The Robinson super market one block away was selling the half size for double the price!
Amazing food & great service. We came here twice during our visit to Jasper because we loved their kimchi soup. The service is very quick even if the place is busy. The food is definitely on the more authentic side -- a pleasant surprise in a small town like Jasper!
Have ordered take out twice in last two months from here. Friendly and efficient service both times. Food fresh, hot and delicious. Our family have eaten from all Edmonton Korean restaurants and this food is much better and nearly as good as the Edmonton food truck Dosi Rock. A nice gem in Jasper and a great alternative to try.
Worst Korean food. Every soup tastes like Instant ramyun powder. Bulgogi isnt even Korean style. the price is ridiculous even considering its a very touristy area. Hands down my worst restautant experience of 2019.
The food tastes soso but it's too pricey compared to the quality plus the staff is impolite. It's strange that they do not serve any side dishes as in other Korean restaurants. Anywayz I will never come here again.
If you look through recent reviews from other customers, you find this restaurant to be a different poor restaurant.
Excellent food. Great service. You can pick the spice level.
???????????????? Seriously just amazing food!! Highly recommend visiting this place while u r in Jasper!!!
Their short ribs & seafood hotpot was amazing!
Service was so-so. Their food is way too salty for our taste. We ordered their #7 soup and #9 noodles and both super salty!! Also, this Korean restaurant doesn't give out side dishes.
Authentic Korean food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. There are also vegetarian menu options (rare in Jasper).
Went in with a group of 5. Food was decent but was pissed off at a 15% service fee that was forced on us in the bill. Would not come again
Amazing authentic Korean food. I ordered spicy seafood noodle and was blown away
I came here on Wednesday night. it was terrible services. The filipino lady servers are so rude and rushing me. I understand it's busy, but rushing is not a good choice to treat the customers. The manager(Korean lady) demanded my change to give tip. The good food is just the bulgogi and the rests are standard. I wouldn't recommend this place to visit.
I came from California to visit friends in Calgary. We all went to Jasper where we stayed over Canada Day 2018. They are food experts, and this is my first Korean food experience. I didn't have much idea what I was eating, but it was all great. A rush of new tastes and textures. Fortunately, my friends did the ordering. However, they have photo images of all the dishes and are glad to help with your choices. One sign that this is a destination Korean restaurant is that a large crowd showed for a banquet while we were there. Nice clean washroom. Totally positive experience for me and my Canadian friends.
it's a pleasant surprise to taste a nice Korean food in this town
Dinner
Food was amazing. There are 2 reasons to go to jasper the amazing scenery and this restaurant
Food was good, and came fast. It got a lot busier later in the evening though.
The worst Korean restaurant I have ever been! Bad customer service. Constantly ignore customer’s requests. Waited 30mins for the waitress to come over and take our order.
One of your filipino servers did not care and ignored us while we are getting our bill. She pretended not to see us. Service is very bad but food is alright.
Taste was out of the world.fried dumpling was one of their signature dish.Beef and pork was ultimate ????????. I went twice within a couple of days.
It is the worst restaurant in Canada. Even though there were seats, the service was the worst, so the waiting time outside was more than an hour and all customers waited inside for a long time. The outside waiting line didn't decrease at all because the restaurant didn't call the waiting guests even though some customers who ate went out. And Even though the customers sat down, it took a long time to get an order. There was no Korean worker. It looks like the restaurant is sold. My family couldn't eat anything for 2 hours and the staff told me to go to another restaurant if I didn't want to wait. My family was so angry that we couldn't do any schedule at Jasper that we gave up our trip in Jasper, not going anywhere in Jasper because I got a lot of stress from their rudeness. I'm still angry.
As a local, here's my spin... I gave it one star less as their service needs a lot of work. The food is tasty and that is what counts. Note: They do not like taking reservations and opt for walk in only instead.
The service is very bad yet they asked customers to pay 15%tip. One waitress even said“You don’t know what you order!!!!?” when serving wrong dishes to us. Definitely not worth it , you have no choice but to pay tip even though their manner is poor and not professional since it’s in your bill. Food are so so, not authentic korean food. If you are looking for a place to ruin your day, this is it.
Great Korean food in Jasper. Highly recommend ordering the Gim Bap. It was very tasty. The restaurant is very busy, so there is a significant wait time for the food. However, if you are not in a rush, the service is great and the food is amazing!
I ordered #23 and loved it. The traditional menu was paired up with a photographic menu the worked well for selecting what I wanted to eat. The service timely and polite. Lunch came in heated stone bowls that made a wonderful sizzling sound and kept the food nice and hot. I recommend trying out Kimchi House if you get the chance.
Service
We may have liked it as we did in the past, but @ 3:45, there were people (4) in the rest. but the door was locked with a very tiny(post it note), sign saying "back at 5:00." Really? Your open sign was on but nobody home!!! Oh well... you missed out a dinner for six!$$$$$$.Snooze ya loose! Not again!!
Food are great. One thing I noticed, they don't have free side dishes. If ask for it you need to pay extra.nice and quite ambience.
Both my husband and I got upset stomach and diarrhea after eating in the restaurant, and not sleeping much last night caused so much trouble for us as travelers. We suspect the pre-cooked freezing eggs is the cause. The restaurant should not take this shortcut and keep the food sanitary on the top priority.
The food is tasty, also it is busy when we had dinner, the stuff is friendly with smiles. Lovely
Jam Pong and Dolsot Dup Bap (Beef) tasted great. Giving a 4 star because it’s the only Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to that doesn’t serve Gamjatang and doesn’t include side dishes.
Good food good service good price. What more can you ask for. Awesome to find such good ethnic cuisine in a place like jasper. Huge hit. Would recommend
Exceptionally good Korean food, great service, and reasonable prices. Their Bibimbap’s the best I’ve had this side of the pacific. Kimchi House would stand out anywhere in Canada, but in Jasper of all places it’s a can’t-miss. Do yourself a favor and make sure to visit while you’re in town - we certainly will the next time we’re back!
Great little Korean resto. Kimchi was really good, and the Korean BBQ was very tasty. Probably best to go with a group so you can share plates and try a few dishes.
It WAS NOT Korean food. So much disappointment with this restaurant food. We ordered Yuk Gae Jang, but that IS NOT!!! I recommend DO NOT go to there. DO NOT waste you time and money at all.
We had a long day so we were looking for a hot bowl of soup, starving so we set no expectation. We ordered a Dwen-jang Jegae soup. Turned out it has no flavor, even more tasteless than instant ramen seasoning. A lot of water with some veggies, few tofu and couple slices of beef for $16, no side dishes. The steamed rice is the best part of the whole order. Worst-Korean-soup ever.
Got the seafood noodle, med spicy. It was the perfect thing to warm me up after a hike. Good quality seafood, thick udon noodles. Would come again!
The food was average, but not up to my expectations…I am a huge fan of Korean food and I was disappointed. We ordered take out of spicy dak gogi, veg kimchi jigae and veg bibimbap - all medium spicy. The kimchi jigae was bland and bibimbap had few veggies. It did not feel like authentic Korean food (no banchan/ kimchi with the main dishes). However, the quality of ingredients was good and the quantity was also good. So the three stars are for the food that was good but not great.
We sit at patio. Super long waiting time and poor service. They didn’t even give us a plate.
Unique place to eat delicious Korean food in Jasper
Such a gem! Very good food and affordably priced too. I always visit when I am in Jasper.
Dine in
Liked the food and staff here! The only feedback I would give is serve the dishes at the same.
We have eaten here only 3 times in the last couple years on ski trips. This is a gem in Jasper, I completely recommend Kimchi house.
Pre good, but 15%tip we 5 are about 70dollar and 10dollar tip :(
Surprising finding in this remote area that satisfied a craving for Korean food. Assorted fish Jeongol was very good, but ask for spicy level you are comfortable with. Unlike most Korean restaurants in other areas with large Korean population, banchan was not available and kimchee is available as a side order. If you are looking for an adventure in ethnic food while in Jasper, Kimchi House will do you a worthwhile.
I don't get any of the bad reviews. This place was packed on a Monday when we went. When a restaurant is packed...you wait a little big longer. The food is authentic and delicious, and comparable to any of the Korean food one would find in NYC. My wife and I were lucky enough to stumble upon this place and left saying it was our best meal during our trip to Banff/Jasper.
Just ordered takeout for my drive back home. I ordered kimbap, bibimbap and a side of kimchee. The kimbap was good but the bibimbap was poorly made. The rice was cold and the meat used was soggy and cold. I think they also gave me kimchi that froze and thawed. It was mush. I feel like it was made by someone who did not know Korean food.
Wonderful Korean food - just like koreatown in New York. Went twice during our four night stay in town
Lovely Korean restaurant in Jasper. The tables are filled and you'll have to wait for dinner, but it's worth it. Warning: they only take cash and you have to tell the waitress you're ready to order or they won't come to you. My husband and I ordered the soondobu jigae with beef and the dulsot bibimbap to share. Perfect portion, and delicious! Fair price as well. Would recommend and come back to eat!
The Kimchi House is the best Korean food I've had to date. Our group of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) shared the Dinner for Four with one additional dish and it was more than enough food. The best dishes were Woo dong, Bul Go Gi & Spicy Dak Bul Go Gi., couldn't get enough of them. The staff is really friendly and so were other patrons. The entire restaurant even sang happy birthday to one of the guests. Wonderful experience.
This place is more of an authentic Korean restaurant. There was a wide variety of menu options, and our family enjoyed it. There was a mixture of individual meals, as well as family sized sharable meals. If you have younger children that are very picky, I don't think this place will suit their needs. Beer was served here with a modest selection of imports and domestics. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and would return.
The food was really good, best Kimchi I've ever had
Gooooooood. Fantastic food^^
The spicy squid with vegetables was absolutely delicious! Clean restaurant, fine dining, moderate pricing. I'd highly recommend Kimchi House
We ordered takeout and got a bulgogi dish and a noodle dish with chicken, both were really tasty and definitely filling! A little on the pricey side but worth a try if you are craving Asian cuisine!
One of the best restaurant in Jasper. I really loved korean food and so we try this restaurant and we are so happy that we did. It's a family restaurant with a good ambiance. Will definitely comeback????
Food was very expensive, which is understandable since this is a tourist attraction. However, food was really small portion. I don't mind you charge people with $15 with a soup, but there was very little food in the soup. I ordered a soup with only little tiny beef in it. And the taste was just okay. They somehow do not serve side dishes (while other 99% of the Korean restaurants in the major cities serve side dishes for free). You have to pay $3 for a tiny side dish. When I paid the bill, they forced 15% tip on us (only two of us). I usually paid more than 15% tip for dinner, but being forced to pay the tip?? This really pissed me off. I am not coming back again. Don't come here. You get better food somewhere else.
As much as we love Jasper, not many restaurants are as consistent as we wish they were. THIS kills it every single time!! Service is welcoming and efficient, and food is full of flavor and spice. LOVE coming here every trip!
We enjoyed our meal here, we ordered the fried dumplings, Soon Du Bu and Bul Go Gi. Everything was tasty and authentic. It's a busy restaurant so arm yourself with patience. Prices are fair. I recommend if you're in Jasper and want some authentic Korean cuisine.
Meal type
We had a very good meal here, it was tasty and the noodle dish and kimchi was good the staff were friendly. One of the best places in Jasper.
Amazing Korean food. Highly recommended the kimchi soup and spicy beef bulgugi. The foods are fresh. The price is reasonable. Will definitely come eat again on my next visit.
You will be disappointed id you are looking to have some Korean food experience. This is the only Korean Restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't serve side dishes and the food was very expensive compared with the same food in nearby cities, at least 40% higher. Plus several dollars for a side dish, it is really high. The waitresses were also a bit rude. I told her that I was having a stomach ache and couldn't have anything spicy. Yet, the stew was extremely spicy and I couldn't eat at all.
The food was pretty good. We ordered the dinner for 4. But there is a serious problem with this menu item as you can see from the menu description. It come with 15 dumplings!?! 15! Why not 16 so that each diner can get 4... my advice to management: charge an extra buck if you have to but for God's sake, make sure you can equally divide the meal provided by 4... learn from your sinner for 2 which has 8 dumplings...
soooo good!!! Service was fast, super nice and friendly. The best Korean meal ever had! I for sure will be coming back!
First time having Korean food. ????. We had the Jam Pong soup which was delicious! Will definitely stop in again, the next time we are in town.
Dine in
Great meal and great service. Portions are big and the food is tasty. Restaurant is clean and the menu is great for people who don't know Korean cuisine.
Over priced and not taste good. Don’t taste like the Korean food
This is one of the favorite restaurants in Jasper to visit. You are always welcome and greeted with a smile. The service is prompt water and clean cutlery on your table as you sit. Prices are reasonable and the food is very enjoyable
They crushed it in all the best ways! They were crazy swamped but somehow still got everyone’s fantastic food out super quick. The ladies were working incredibly hard and made it look like a well oiled machine! The food was great, the service was great and the flower paintings/ambiance was lovely.
Food is okay. However, be aware this is a Korean restaurant that does not like most of others in the province to provide any free side dishes .
They made us wait over 15 minutes with no line up. Didn't so much as acknowledge us. Furthermore, the couple before us has yet to be served. Ended up leaving.. note: work on your customer service. It'll take you places.
Food is good, especially the udoon noodle. The decorations are cozy. But the Korean waiter doesn't know the English name of the ingredients of the entries, which made us explained a little bit before we found what we wanted in the menu.
WORST restaurant I’ve ever been. Go here if u wanna spend 2 hrs waiting before u get appetizer. The staff watched you when you select the tip
Very good service and quick ! Food is super good Korean tast ! I like noodles and egg rolls!
The restaurant is spaceous and staff is really friendly. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have pork bone soup. I ordered the soon doo boo Jegae and upgraded it to seafood for $1 more. No regrets coming to this restaurant. The taste is authentic!
Not what I expected Korean restaurant. No small dishes appetizer servers like what we have in east coast.
Being from Toronto where we have lots of authentic Korean restaurants, this place is very comparable! We were so sick of burgers and sandwiches from our long road trip, and this spot served the food we craved so much! Authentic and delicious food, reasonable prices and good sized portions! Bibambop, seafood soybean soup, dumplings and sizzling beef ribs were all amazing! We loved it here so much we ate here twice on our trip! Highly recommend!
Food was pretty good. I got the spicy pork. Respectively, my friends got the soybean paste soup and the bi bim bap. All three were pretty good. Be warned the pork and the soybean paste are spicy, but well worth it if you can handle it. If not, you can always get the dishes mild. Although a little salty, my pork dish was still pretty good. Now, in terms of hospitality, the service was really good! Fast, efficient, and friendly. The waitresses were really cheerful despite us coming near closing, couldn’t have asked for better service. If you’re craving Korean or Asian food in Jasper, would recommend giving this restaurant a shot.
Wanting warm food so I came with a group and ordered the spicy soft tofu stew. First off, there are no free banchan, they were extras with a fee. I always get at least two kinds of banchan for free on all korean restaurants I've visited and can ask for more. The stew tasted like instant noodles (think nongshim/paldo) soup. I couldn't taste the red pepper powder or the seafood. Only the tofu was fresh. And I can definitely detect MSG on soup. Don't eat here if you are craving for korean.
We waited at the door for 5 mintues to be acknowledged so we could request a table. We were never spoken too. We had a server actually physically push me out of the way. Won't go back there. Ever.....
Excellent Korean food, however , they never pick their calls for reservations so it's a hit and miss if you want to dine in... And take away took 45 mins so prepare yourself accordingly
This place is not authentic Korean at all. * They don't have kimchi in their dishes despite that the restaurant name has the word in it. * They don't offer side dishes at all. * The food has a plain, but strong soy sauce taste; pretty much like what I cook at home, when things fall apart.
Delicious Korean food in the mountain
The wait to be seated didn't make much sense to me and my friends. However, the food speaks for itself. Simply amazing taste. The best Korean food I have ever tasted. I came from Edmonton for white water rafting and came here before going back to Edmonton and was surprised by the delectable taste of the food. Would highly recommend coming here for the food.
很垃圾。 The worst Korean restaurant I have ever had. 1. I have never seen a Korean restaurant that does not provide free side dishes, this is the first one. 2. Prepared the wrong food. 3. 15% service fee was included in the bill (that’s fine for a group of 6 people). BUT the server did not tell us, we paid the tips again and realized afterwards. The service did not worth 15% tip at all. 4. The food was awful & high price with a few pieces of meat.
I’m honestly so shocked to see a rating of only 3.9 stars - this place is great! Easily one of the best places to eat (in my opinion) in Jasper. Tastes great, nice ingredients, friendly service - tastes like I’m eating in amma’s / halmoni’s kitchen! Definitely a great comfort stop, and will be back every time I’m in town.
Best Korean restaurant in Jasper! Ok, that's cheeky.. It's the only one. Food was pretty good, the employees seemed very experienced in handling large volume (the place was constantly packed).
Okay flavour, clean and tidy environment.
Good options. Waitress got the wrong order, it wasn't crowded only 2 table with guests.
The food was quite decent and tasted true to its name. Portion size was good but a bit on the higher end of the price scale.
place was amazing, food was good. but our experience were particularly unpleasant, one server was very disrespectful towards us (she had her hair on a bun, and was wearing glasses), we asked if we could have our utensils because our appetizers have arrived but she ignored us, (this is not a self serve restaurant) and when she was giving us our orders she slammed the food on our table the whole restaurant heard it. we had no idea what we did wrong, we were not demanding anything and was asking politely. we know it was a busy day for them but treating a customer in such manner is very unprofessional and rude. needless to say it definitely affected our mood. other servers were very nice and polite so our group is very thankful towards them.
Food was okay... Service was great but they were missing a few sauces ????
We ordered tofu with kimchi and dumplings for our appetizers. They were so tasty and fast to come out. Best dumplings I've ever had. Then we shared the seafood jungel which was absolutely amazing!!! We ordered it spicy and it was perfect! I wish we lived closer, I'm craving their food right now!
Good quality Korean food in an unlikely location. We had spicy chicken bulgogi (매운 닭 불고기), beef + squid bulgogi (소 + 오징어 불고기), tteokbokki (떡볶이) - all tasty. Service was completely fine for us.
Food is awesome but level of service is disappointing We arrived ,,served 3 tables ,,while 1 table got their meal 3rd one was still waiting to make an order ,when was asked for meal advice girl pointed me on menu ,I'm not Korean and doesn't even look like one,,hence I'm asking for advice I understand that its Jasper and flow of customers Is high but place should care about more about their customers
Great place to eat, had to go a couple times to try some different dishes
Offered a wide and delicious variety of traditional Korean stews and dishes. Service is good, waitresses were polite and friendly. If you go during busy times expect to wait some time for food and seating.
Combo for two is amazing. Must stop dining for a trip to Jasper. Highly recommended.
Pickled veggie side dishes are only 3 bucks each and make a great side.
We dined at Kimchi House 3 nights and tried the following dishes: gim bap, 2 soups, bul go gi and jap chae and absolutely loved every single one of them! The service was very good as well! Definitely a must when visiting Jasper!
Enjoy stir fry dishes with rice? Noodle dishes? Seafood? Veggies? Then I'd definitely recommend the Jab Tang Bab. A perfect mix of all. Overall, the experience at Kimchi was really good. The only minor negatives being that service was a bit slow, and you don't get the small plates when you sit down like you do at most Korean places.
Amazing food and great service! It was not busy when we were here on a weekend which is odd considering how good the food was. Want to visit again for sure!
Ever been in Jasper and craved some Korean food? Well you're in luck. It's not just good because it's the only Korean game in town. It's a place I would frequent in Edmonton. Dumplings were a delicious shareable appie. Dulsot Bibimbap was also delish. Have been before and will go again.
Excellent food, excellent value for Jasper. Expansive menu. Food was fresh, warm and plentiful. Server was attentive. .
Meal type
Small place. GREAT soup! Very friendly and lots of options. The food was out quick, hot, and full of flavour! The people were so polite and offered great service! So good!
If I could give zero stars I would! We waited forever for our food. A table who ordered right after us got their food way before us. Plus I'm positive that our dumplings went to their table! This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I work in the food industry so I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt but this was absolutely ridiculous! Plus we sat on the patio in the cold because my wife was really excited about trying some Korean food on our honeymoon. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I it's busy but you don't completely ignore people freezing on the patio. I almost walked out but my wife convinced me to pay for my coke and then leave. I almost ran out because i was completely ignored! Then to top off the worst eating experience of my life I come to find out that I had to pay 4 dollars for a measly can of coke.
Guaranteed fresh every time! Dinner for two is our personal go-to favourite on the menu since it's such a great value and SO good - but anything we've tried has been equally as delicious! Monica & her team are always so friendly and hospitable making our experience so enjoyable. I highly recommend Kimchi House to any foodie considering where to eat in Jasper.
I very much enjoyed the food. The beef was perfectly cooked.
I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews. Our food was so delicious! My partner got the bibimbap with tofu substitute and I got the potato noodles with sesame sauce from the vegetarian section. We didn’t think the food was too salty like some reviews say and I’m very sensitive to salt. The food also came out really quickly. I highly recommend coming here! It’s a nice change from all the pub places you find between Banff and Jasper as well. *update review* Came here a second time for the same dish and it was not nearly as good. The flavour was lacking and it was a bit too oily. They lack consistency but it still still good. And I would still recommend coming here and I would still come here again.
The food is superb, this is the best korean cuisine we had in Alberta, we like it so much till we finish everything in the pot..Keep it up with the great food????????????????☃️❄
Absolutely delicious. Service was efficient and food came out hot with great presentation.
Taste:4/5 Price:$$-$$$ Service:4/5 Not bad for Korean food located in Jasper. Taste pretty similar to Korean food you would find in Los Angeles. They don't provide complimentary side dishes like typical Korean restaurants but I figure that's expected. The portion sizes are big and enough to share all around. Would highly recommend this place if you're craving something different to eat.
Food is nice, not bad as the previous comments. No 15% charged for tips.
absolutely one of korean food even in far remote area, thanks you guy
Food is very good, but service is slow and portions are small
The food was pretty good but needs refinement. Flavour was good but it seemed lacking in depth. Unfortunately, I've had similar quality food from a grocery store. Very friendly staff and my water was always full but when it came time to pay get the bill I waited a while and then had to find someone to request the bill.
We tried the Dinner for 2, the dumplings were great and the beef dish was just amazing. Great value for the price
Foods taste much better than expected because we saw some views grading this restaurants' foods very bad.
Awsome. Great food. Perfect service. And price was good. Serving were good size
The food was amazing. Big portion sizes that you will finish because the food is so tasty. Service is wounderful, very pleasant and eager to help.
Poor service. The worst service I have ever seen in Canada or my life. I just left the restaurant because they just let other get to the table even though they knew we were waiting for the table outside with rain. And, why the hell I have to give 15% tip when there are more than 5 people?
This is the worst Korean restaurant I have ever met in my life. It is not at all Korean foods. All the foods are full of artificial seasonings. They do not use the right vegetables or meats. Korean foods should come with several complementary side dishes which they never provide. Simply over-priced. Plain crazy! If you really want to try Korean foods inside these national parks, go the one in Banff which is very authentic.
Amazing! Service was friendly and the food was great. In particular the stew which was incredible!
very good korean food - a chinese guy who looks korean
This is my personal favorite restaurant in Jasper. Just got back from yet another excellent experience.
Our Favourite restaurant in Jasper. Great Korean food, spiced they way YOU want to. Very accommodating. Always clean, cheerful staff and facilities. 5 ✨
Great place! We came here twice during our one week stay here in Jasper. The hot soups are a generous size, delicious, flavourful and packed with the vegetables and meats that go into it. These hot soups kept my tummy full and satisfied! Price points are fair! We’re from Vancouver where there’s plenty of Korean and other Asian restaurants so we were a bit skeptical of the quality of Asian food in Jasper. But this Korean place was surprisingly good and ended up being our favourite restaurants here. Definitely deserves a higher rating than all the other highly rated 4+ star restaurants in Jasper that we tried which we were utterly disappointed in.
This is a great place to eat, delicious food, modified to your spice preference and reasonably priced! Must-haves include the fried dumplings and bulgogi.
This restaurant is very terrible. Food is the worst taste I had ever been before korean restaurants in North America. I had yukgajang . This food is like beef ramen soup. Cooker put a lot of artificial ingredients in this yukgajang. There is little thin sliced beef. Service tip is over 15%. I will never go this restaurant again. I don't recommend
The food here is amazing. May I recommend the "Dinner for Two" option. It comes with a few different dishes (all really good) and really hits the spot.
Was recommended to me by a co worker. So glad I made it before leaving town. Food was great, service was quick. Definitely going again next time I'm in town.
Great food! Ordered the yuk gae jung and it was just really good
What a treat as vegetarians to have so many wonderful options on the menu. We had the potato noodles and the soy bean paste stew. Both were delicious. Wish we had ordered more. 10/10 would recommend.
Very nicely made Korean delicacies, I think. Amazing and respectful servers and a neat environment. Wait time for the food was long, may because it's a long weekend. However, the food was nice and delicious.
Very poor service and awfully bad food. The worst Korean restaurant ever. The food came so late. The Philippine lady was extremely rude and gave our food to the wrong table. Just don’t waste your time at this restaurant. The other “Kimichi House”s across this country are way better than this.
Reasonable wait times, delicious food.
I ordered Udon soup but it tasted like plain noodles in instant broth. For the price I paid i could have at least 15 bags of actual instant kimchi noodles.
Food was good but over priced for the quantity of food you get. This Korean restaurant did not offer free side dishes like kimchi. Was disappointed that kimchi was $3.00 and not a free side dish. Feels like this place cater to tourists that aren't use to Korean foods so the meals weren't totally authentic Korean.
Had a very good experience. The food is super delicious. And good service as well. Highly recommend.
Go the for combinaison, awesome price for a decent and good quantity of bulgogi, dumplings and spicy chicken!!
Great time dining here. Loved the food and our server. We got the dinner for 2 and it was a great option, we both left very full. We will be back if we are ever in Jasper again
Well, I am giving this restaurant 2 stars because this Korean restaurant is NOT Korean at all. If you called serving hot spicy soup Korean, then anybody can make Korean food, just boil water and dump a bunch of dry pepper powder. I’ve never had Korean food which they told you side dishes like kimchi and other veggie, you have to pay extra. Ridiculous!! If you want Korean food, don’t go there. If you want spicy food and hot soup, it’s an ok place to go. But try to go there as early as possible because it will be packed during dinner hour and also slow their service down. Oh! Don’t expect to receive any service after your meal is delivered, because they are too busy for that. So I guess tips isn’t necessary, too.
As a Korean restaurant in a pretty isolated town, you should expect higher prices compared to a restaurant in a big city. Basic materials cost more and so that cost is also translated to higher menu prices. Regardless, we had an enjoyable meal of three different types of bibimbap and a large bowl of kimchi too. They were really accommodating with allergies and brought out our food in reasonable time and it was still crackling hot. The meat quality was good, nothing tasted off or very different than Korean restaurants in Vancouver or Calgary for example. The only main difference is that portion sizes were a little smaller compared to big city restaurants. I do wish they included sides like daikon and kimchi in the price of the dish.
If you ever find yourself in Jasper and just have to have Korean food then this is the place...well its the only place. Actually was surprised Jasper had a Korean restaurant. Didn't know what to expect but took one for the team. Restaurant is small but neat. As other reviewers have mentioned the ban chan's are ala carte. Went for value and the wife and I had the meal for two for $42 CDN. For this you get fried mandoo, which was tasty, crispy and the sauce wasn't fancy but worked well. Second course was an udon style soup. Broth was a bit heavy on the black pepper but warm and not too salty. The vegetables in the udon soup were somewhat non-standard. Head cabbage, carrots, mushroom, broccoli. Must be tough to get produce to the middle of a national park. Next came the main dishes. Beef stir-fry and chicken stir-fry. Thought it was going to be bulgogi and chicken bulgogi but no, stir-fry and with the same vegetables as the udon soup. Deja vu. Service was attentive and given the location I think they did okay. If there is a next time I'd go with ordering off the menu. The more traditional dishes that other patrons were eating looked better.
Below average food (overcooked beef), super long waiting time (for getting seated, order delivery and check) and rude waitress - that’s all you get there.
My boyfriend and I shared the dinner for 2 meal and it left us very full and satisfied. The service was quite unenthusiastic and a bit awkward for my liking.
We know that they are always busy and make mistakes easily but they never apologized to us after they spilled water on the table and also splashed water on my mother in law's lap when cleaning the water. Furthermore , since they charge customers a mandatory 15% tips, we had no chance not to offer tips because of the above reason.
Best Korean food I've ever had! (Full disclosure: I've never had Korean food)
Overall the ingredients aren’t fresh, VERY tiny cuts and suppppper soft & over cooked vegetables, like mush. The dishes were swimming in sauce. Luckily I enjoy sweets. So for those that don’t. Try it first. The soup was ok. It must be hard to get fresh ingredients up in Jasper. I guess the normal price is now starting between $15-20.... I had better Thanks it least we got to try it. It’s not for everyone
Food is okay. Service is slow.
Food was absolutely amazing but customer service is lacking. There was a significant wait time for ordering and bringing out the food. But definitely worth the wait. Ordered the kimchi and tofu, fried noodles, and the #36 as well as the veggie dumplings and fried yams. I would strongly recommend this place but save your time and do take out.
Authentic Korean restaurant? Questionable. We had a decent meal mediocre at best. We stopped by at jasper for a quick dinner and got the dinner for 2 combo so we had a bit of variety. However, I don’t believe this an authentic Korean restaurant because first of all we did not have “banchan “ side dishes to come with our meal. The flavour and spice is lacking. Soup was not served in a hot stone as I would expect. Service is also poor . Eating inside was also a bit uncomfortable it was freezing cold with a dark ambience. The good reviews urged me to try this place but I would not come back.
The 2 person dinner combo is decent for its value and taste.
We had dinner here. The food is OK, but I was expecting a bit more in terms of the quality.
Amazing food food a reasonable price
We had dinner here twice during our short stay in Jasper last September. Food was great - hot and spicy - exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking. Make sure to get there early - the lineup was crazy.
Don't be fooled by all the fancy titles in Jasper. Most of the menus offer the same deal anyway. Save the time of browsing in bustling Jasper and sit yourself at Kimchi House. Absolute favorite dish in Jasper: Spicy beef Bulgogi. You won't want anything else after this. (And if you do, ice cream is right across the street)
Long waiting, but delicious food.
Easily the best restaurant in Jasper, and one of the best Korean restaurants I have ever eaten at. The prices are great, and food is even better! The staff and owner are so polite and respectful.
Probably the only Korean restaurant in town. Sides are not included. Stir fried beef is good. Tofu soup has no egg in there. White rice.
Authentic Korean food that compares to some of the places in Vancouver! This place is probably one of the better places to eat in Jasper, even though the reviews don't necessarily reflect that. We went back several times during our 5 days in Jasper as many of the other restaurants didn't quite hit the mark for quality of food. Definitely would recommend any of the soup hot pots. They were perfect after a morning of hiking in the cold!
The Filipino short lady was very unprofessional. She was sarcastic upon our simple requests such as asking for an extra dressing as if we're not paying for it. The place wasn't that busy that time but she had earphones during her shift which is a huge NO-NO. She even took out her phone and answers call loudly in front of the table she's serving. She wasn't very attentive either considering that there were only 2 tables that time. Also, the price is ridiculously high for a very cheaply made and not authentic food. We just didn't have any choice since Jasper Curry Place was closed, otherwise, we wouldn't eat there. I definitely don't recommend this place.
Good atmosphere, overworked staff, ended up never getting my meal and staff was too busy to check on us after my wife's meal was delivered. Ended up sharing that with her. Bill came, included my missed meal, noted it to waitress and no attempt to make good on error was made, just undelivered meal removed from tab. Probably just an issue with poor staffing
We loved Kimchi house so much we went back two days in a row for their bipimbap! The owner was so kind and our service was terrific. It's been months since we have been there and I'm missing it so I had to write a great review for them. Very friendly staff, clean restaurant and delicious food :)
Food is 100% yummy! I dont know if it is really an authetic korean reataurant. This restaurant tends to get busy easily. But the staff are very nice, polite and accomodating. Even though we came in that night when they are short staff, the owner is very professional. Little things counts! The owner is very accomodating as well! She even gave my 1-year old daughter a toy, which my daughter likes!
The first thing you will notice is the clean interior and unique atmosphere (for Jasper) which was a nice change. The food was mixed; my meal was great while my partner had a negative experience. She had a noodle bowl of some kind, I had Kimchi. The waitress was nice but seemed to ignore certain customers. I felt awkward seeing them constantly ignore certain people while having long chats with others.
The dinner for two is the perfect amount of food and along with offering a great variety of Korean cuisine it is also very reasonably priced. The staff were also very friendly.
This place is awesome. A little bit pricey but it’s worth it. The portion is good and the food was great. Also the service is really really fast.
Fast service, delicious food and menu os as described. Good pricing for food portion
Take out
Great Korean restaurant. VERY authentic taste. Menu great for the whole family. Would definitely return when in Jasper next.
I was expecting it to be an amazing korean restaurant, but sadly it was disappointing. Ordered the dinner for 6 so that we get to try a variety of dishes. But almost every single one tasted the same. The bulgogi was the only one that was okay, the rest was overly seasoned with either fish sauce or anchovies. Like the resto's name, "kimchi house", we were never served any side dishes...not even the kimchi itself, never experienced that from any other korean restaurants. Service was okay, which I give it an extra star. But sadly will not be returning ????.
Food sooooo delicious! I Love it
Meal type
Just Ok dinner for us. I have visited many Korean restaurants and hosnetly, this one was not great at all. But for a small town like Jasper, it is a good option if you spent a couple days here.
Excellent authentic Korean food, very lively atmosphere, bulgogi beef is a must try! I enjoyed having spicy Korean food on a cold day!
Kimchi house is my go to in jasper! Lived here as a kid and just moved back to the area was looking for my new go to spot and didn’t take me long to be a regular there. The staff are all amazing, service is quick and food is great. Slightly pricy but large portions . Not your typical Korean bbq service but amazing none the less. Would recommend if you want some decent Korean food !
I have tried many Korean restaurants all over from B.C to Saskatchewan and I must say this food is depressiingly lacking what makes Korean food amazing.... I couldn't get cold noodles out of stock, I ordered lettuce ten minutes later they tell me I can't get my side order because they are out of stock. Many famous and common Korean dishes are not available and all side dishes cost extra.. I'm easy to please..... Filipino waiters who know nothing of the dishes they are serving along with not having what they say they do on the menu along with high prices for terrible food, I'm pretty sure any high ratings are being given by people with zero Korean food experience, go to Victoria or Vancouver for many amazing Korean restaurants, but this restaurant was so disappointing I had to leave a food review which I never do.....
Ordered the Spicy Dak Bul Go Hi and Jab Tang Bap. Absolutely amazing dishes, full of so much flavour and perfect portion sizes. If no one was looking, I would have licked the plate.
We visit this place in April 2017 and in need to hot and spicy soup. It was so good that we went there again the next day for another or 2 times. That was a good kimchi chi gae or yu gae jang that i have eaten and i dont feel so thristy afterwards as sometimes i feel thristy when eating this in Australia. Sorry no photos as i have already devoured it before i remember to take a picture.
I have no idea how this restaurant has 4 star. There are seats available but it’s a trap, wait for an hour for a meal is unacceptable, especially for tourists, time is precious. The price is higher than Vancouver and the food is at food court level. There is no service because they are understaffed. There are no free Korean side dishes but it’s ‘authentic’. What else can I say, please avoid it at all cost.
Best Korean food in Alberta, the owner is one of the nicest, sweetest ladies you will ever meet, too ????
Solid Korean food and prices fair. Selection quite nice given how tough it must be to get ingredients in such a remote place. Side dishes or kimchi not included with meal which is typically provided in most korean places I've been to.
Food is good, service is so so. Long waiting. Waitress was unattentive. You have to call them for everything: ready to order, need drink refills, need bill, etc.
The decor is mish mash and it is a bit pricey, but the food - bibimbap, kalbi, and tofu stew - certainly hits the spot after a long road trip of sandwiches and diner breakfasts. Portions are big and the cooking felt homey. Our server was also really nice.
Not the best in category, no complimentary starting dishes, as is a standard in most korean restaurants. But still very enjoyable, especially in such a place that western style dominatea.
Service
Delicious! Great service great food. Stop reading this review and go eat: Gim Bap and and Kun Man Doo for appetizers; and Beef Bul Go Gi for the main dish. Gladly chose 15% for tip. lol
A delicious hot meal on a rainy day in Jasper. Excellent service!
This place hasn't changed in years. I used to love coming here when I lived closer to jasper. I was served bigger shrimp/prawns here than most places in calgary. Portions are good too.
Great service! Food was delicious, kimchi is very well made! I had the Bibimbap - would definitely recommend!!
Be warned.. avoid this place if you are looking for authentic Korean food. The soup from the sundunbu (tofu stew) is made using instant noodle powder.. and the chicken gang-jeong (fried chicken with sweet sauce) had an extremely chewy, thick batter and tasted like McDonald's mcnuggets. For the prices they are charging, you deserve better.
No free appetizer like all other Korean restaurant, extreme low volume, high price, barely eatable taste
Staff was very friendly and helpful but the food was average. I ordered a rice bowl and the beef was dried. Nothing special.
Food was okay but the service from the filipino waitress is horrible af. Spilled water while pouring and was in a rush to keep the dishes though I haven’t finish? Kept my chopsticks WHILE I was still eating. Too lazy to argue with her because she’s just too ignorant.
Delicious. Service is a little slow. But delicious.
It is not real korean restaurant. I am korean. When I came with my family, there was no korean worker. And they made customers wait in the long line for a really long time, even if they had a room. And i asked them to give us a space, they told me to go another restaurant with unkind message. They look like Philippinos.
Decent korean restaurant. The taste is authentic, and good service. Although the price is on the expensive side.
Reckless about food allergies For our 4-year-old son who’s allergic to eggs, the server recommended a dish that arrived drenched in mayonnaise, even if we mentioned his severe allergy beforehand. A second server confirmed that it had no eggs at all. We were suspicious about that sauce and it’s only after informing them that mayo is actually eggs.... and asking twice about it... that finally made due verifications with the cooks and confirmed our suspicion. We were so shocked. Even more so when the server allowed herself a lighthearted joke about our child’s safety! The whole thing ruined our experience. These were the facts. Now my opinion on the issue, because it’s not the first time : it is shockingly unacceptable that restaurant staff treat food allergies with such recklessness and disregard of the consequences their negligence might have. FYI : it might be death.
Good hot stone rice!
Great experience food was really good no wonder it was so busy! Definitely will be back when I'm in Jasper
It’s the worst one ever. I never got the Korean food like this. normally, I am not a picky person. The food is totally not deserve that price, and the server’s skill must train and improve it…..
We arrived while it was very busy, but still only waited about 10 minutes. The service was great, considering there were only 3 servers and a packed house all vying for their attention. The food was amazing as well! Clearly they’re doing something right when even us out-of-towners are drawn in by the delicious smells. Highly recommend!
I've been thinking of kimchi house since I left Jasper. I had spicy chicken dakgalbi. The food came out sizzling on a hotplate and it was so delicious. The kimbap and mandoo were good as well. Next time I'm in Jasper I'll be coming back here for sure. ????????
Good quality korean dishes. Nice place, lots of flowers, and friendly staff.
Dumplings...amazing!!! Need I say more? Yes..ok...I have a love for most things in this restaurant and the staff is great. The food is made from scratch and with love. Eat here...you need to. Just be prepared to wait during the busy season in summer.
The worst korean food / restaurant ever! There is no traditional complimentary side dish or condiments. The food doesn't even taste korean. Definitely will not recommend and waste of money.
This place is cute. We were looking for somewhere nice to have lunch. Glad we stop by for lunch because foods was great. Sad that they were out of stuff. So we didn’t get to try what we want.
Good service. Yummy food. Support local. Portion could be little better..but the bowl was extremely hot. Almost burned my hand..
Definitely the best Korean food I HV had in the entire Alberta region.. Food is in big portions n great quality n taste, just amazing!
Honestly the worst of the worst... The only Korean restaurant of the 1000 I've been to That make you pay for the extra sides that usually commonly are part of your meal. Waiters who are clueless about the food. I wish I could give this zero stars....bad
Considering this is in the tiny tiny Canadian town, food is surprisingly good. There is no free small dishes to start but the entree portion is big enough. I ordered bibimbap and it’s quite tasty. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you crave for some Korean food while among the Rockies.
If you like to have $15 instant Korean ramen soup without noodle, this is perfect place to enjoy.
Not real Korean food for sure...lots of msg and quite salty for the bulgogi
Quaint little place with fast & friendly service, great tasting food, reasonably priced
Decent, I guess best you can expect for a small town. Unlike all Korean restaurants I know, they don’t have complimentary side salads, which is part of the experience so that was disappointing. Still fills the Korean craving if you have one and the kitchen is fast. Overall will go back.
I must say some reviews shocked me. Leave 1 star and bad words just because they didn't open for you at 3:45pm? You are Donald Trump? And there's no 15% tip forced on bill. The food is delicious, environment is clean and cozy, price is very reasonable in tourism hot spot. Well, waitress don't make much small talk indeed, but the service is adequate.
Superb service. Menu is very convenient since it has description of the food. There is no need for reservation. Sanitation of the tables were very good and thorough. A visit for dinner is going to be worth it.
One of our favourites in town. Great food at an affordable price with friendly and welcoming service. A must!
I did not enjoy my meal, the taste just not as good as most Korean restaurant I went. And this is the first Korean restaurant that does not offer Kimchi with the meal.
Great service, food and portion size. There might be a wait for a table but it's worth it. Very impressed!
I've never enjoyed myself at any restraint more so than here. The lady who runs it is incredibly nice even recognizing us and giving us free ice cream when we'd been there for 3 trips, the food was great if you get the dinner for 2/4/6 however many you are and it's an authentic experience through and through. I heartily recommend it to all.
Dinner
Food was delicious. Loved it so much we came back the next day. Service was good and there was a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely should go if you are in the area.
Ok..this is my first time writing a review because i just had to.. I only gave one star for the fact that it is very hard to get good korean food ingredients in Jasper.. So me and my husband went here for dinner after a long drive during our vacation (so anything should have been very delicious) We ordered some spicy stew and korean style hot stone bowl bibimbap. Wow seriously, the soup/stew tasted like the Korean instant noodle and it was like.. 1/10 of what it should have been tasted like. Was nowhere close to an authentic Korean dish. The owner asked if everything was good and we actually commented that it tasts exactly like the Rameon and without really feeling bad for the fact that we really didnt like it, she went on about how it is authentically made....which made us more unhappy. And it was SO expensive compared to how much that dish usually is. We were extra dissapointed since the name of the restaurant is "Kimchi house" and Kimchi is a Korean food that really represents Korea and the fact that the food was so not close to anything authentic just.... So in conclusion, we were sad, dissapointed and unhappy with this restaurant... P.S. there were no side dishes either (I have never been to a Korean restaurant with no side dishes)
Tasty food. Every dish was delicious and served quickly. We had a two year old with us and they went out and bought some milk for us. Also, koreans eating at a Korean restaurant was a good sign. Expensive, but it is Jasper after all.
Good food and gentle staff - the portions could be bigger for the price - hard to accept an Asian restaurant trying to save on rice.
Waited 45 minutes for an appertizer. The other tables that came after us were already having their food. Totally ignored us because we sit outside. Had to remind them about the food. After 45 mins they said they would still take 15 more minutes.
Craving for some Asian food while visiting the park. Is it good? Yes. Is it authentic? Not 100% but close enough.
We were seated promptly and food came out hot and delicious almost as quickly as we ordered. The Kun Man Doo dumplings were amazing after a day of skiing. Unsure of how spicy they would consider spicy, I ordered the Jab Tang Bab "MILD". Little did I know that my dish would come out spicier than the Merciless Peppers of Quetzalacatenango (a.k.a. Gautemalan Insanity Peppers). While I did not go on a spirit quest narrated by Johnny Cash, I did enjoy eating here and would eat again.
Dine in
Came here on a Monday evening, relatively quiet though not surprising given both the time of the week, and the season of the year. Service is friendly, though not the most efficient. Food is a little pricey even for its location, but does compare to your typical Korean restaurant in Alberta. Could do without the classical/romantic piano pieces in the background, prefer some K-pop videos instead.
Very good food! And decent prices. REAL Korean food! Go before 6:30pm because restaurant get real busy after.
Expensive! The worst manner was that they forced the customer (hopefully not only to Asian customers, otherwise it can be racism issue!) to pay tips. They added 15% tips in your bill no matter what, that's rude and not acceptable especially for a tourism town!
Dinner
I've been to numerous Korean restaurants. This one is ok at best. The tofu soup tastes like instant noodle soup.
Solid Korean food, but not super authentic or super cheap for its quality. It can really busy, which may affect quality of service.
Best food I've had in Jasper so far. So good!
We got the dinner for 2 and it was an excellent variety of delish foods, we would definitely come back
Badly run restaurant, pricy menu, and small serving. There are no free side dishes like other Korean restaurants. Waitresses ignore you most of the time, wait time for food is almost 1 hour, food quality isn't worth the wait. Covid safety protocol is also lacking, we didn't feel comfortable dining inside the restaurant. Would not recommend!
I've been many Korean restaurants in North America and this was the worst sun du bu jigae ever.
Good food. Always visit when I am in Jasper.
Great servers, everyone was super friendly. Had the jam pong and can honestly say it was the best soup I've ever had!!
We had incredible soup and a wonderful beef stir fry. Very memorable food and restaurant!
So many veggie options! Eating vegetarian in Jasper isn't hard, but there often aren't many choices at any given restaurant. Kimchi house has 6 veggie mains on the menu! I had the soybean paste tofu and veggie stew. The stew was tasty, but a bit over-powered by the hot peppers. I ordered medium spicy, and it was spicier than I'd have expected for medium, but still perfectly edible for me. My partner had the sweet potato glass noodles with tofu and veggies in sesame sauce. It was amazing! Tofu was a nice consistency, sauce was delicious, and the medium spicy on his was more what I'd expect for medium. Service was decent. Definitely a place to visit if looking for a vegetarian meal in Jasper.
I was walking with my family in Jasper on the way to get ice cream. I seen the pictures of the dishes they serve at the restaurant. My wife and kids got almost a block away by the time they realized I was almost pressing my face on the window. We went there for dinner, it was fantastic, my kids ate until they were stuffed. I will definitely go back here.
Tourist area serving medicore korean food at a premium price. Sitting area is dark and dated. No side dishes (kimchi) offered even with entrees. Service is to rush you in and out at the quickest rate to maximize their profit. Can skip for other things in town.
Service
We always eat here when we are in Jasper! Cozy family restaurant with authentic Korean food. Yum!
This is the only Korean Restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't serve side dishes with your meal (kimchi, beansprouts, etc.) and the food wasn't very good for $15-$20. My stew tasted like it had frozen green beans in it. The waitresses were also a bit rude trying to get us to pay and leave our table. Definitely not going back.
We got the meal for two which runs around just under $50. And for Jasper National Park. It was not bad considering you get full after all they offer. The customer service is impeccable and they will fill your glass of water without asking. You get your four servings and it's definitely worth it vs. having to order two separate meals for two people. I really enjoyed the taste and smell of the Korean food. Must try in Jasper if you're craving Korean cuisine.
Fast service and freshly cooked foods. Everything ia served hot and fresh. Staff very friendly as well.
Expensive food. Very small serving with below average tasting. Not recommend. The service is rude, not attentive at all. Absolutely not authentic Korea food.
Definitely worth a visit for good Korean food in jasper! Service is quite prompt and good, the bulgogi (pork) is very nice as well. The vegetables go with the meat perfectly. The soon du bu is nice too, with lots of tofu and warm soup. Only thing about this is that the bibimbap was cold, and only dolsot (hot stone) bibimbap is warm. Usually I would expect the non-hot stone bibimbap to be served warm as well, eg warm rice, egg, etc. But here, the bibimbap is entirely cold (even the rice), and was very surprised that they served it with salad vegetables like lettuce.
Delicious food and even nicer service. The bulgogi is one of the best I have had!
Excellent Korean food! One of my favorite restaurants in Jasper. And I live here.
Stopped on the way through town it was incredibly tasty
Price is expensive, but food is small. I ordered one beef soup and took out. However, When I was back the hotel and opened the cover of the box, only one small piece beef and a little bit of vegetable in the soup. But the soup is cost $16. How do u think?
Love this place! Their Bul Gal Bi and Bul Go Gi taste really good and with good selection of vegetables. My kids usually do not like vegetables, but they were able to eat up all vegetables in the meal together with beef! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Very traditional meals that will please everyone. Be aware, spicy means actually spicy. The soy sauce and kimchi are made in-house by the owner, so virtually irreplaceable, she orders her spices straight from Korea. Great delicious meal! The prices are also reasonable and the staff is nice.
The worst Korean restaurant I have ever been. Very expensive and bad service. It was not that busy and I was waiting for so long to asked for a cup of ice water. I asked and the server gave me lukewarm water. I asked again for ICE water, she paused, just stood there looking at my glass of water for five seconds with poker face then she went back and gave me ice water. As many other reviews says, the server didn't come and ask if we need anything. With that kind of service, they charge you with tip on the bill. Food was average. Compare to any other Korean restaurant I've been to, I really regret that I went to Kimchi House.
Authentic Korean food; there's always a long line up during dinnertime! Once seated, service is prompt and servers are attentive (regularly filling up our glasses). Glad to have found this gem during our 3 day stay in Jasper!
If you are korean , do not never try this place. I am korean , and I have standard expectation , but this place is like lol horrible taste and too expensive , this is only one korean restaurant in Jasper so that's why the owner does not care about food quality
We ordered the dinner special for 2 yesterday, although I think they forgot our chicken dish the service was great and the food was great as well!
Food wasn’t great but worse was the bad attitude. Overpriced for the taste and quantity of portions. We asked if they could do a smaller portion for the child in our group, to which we were told sorry, fixed menu, fixed prices. (All we wanted was a small side portion of plain noodles) Mind you, we hadn’t even mentioned prices at that point! When our food comes, one of the dishes has pork in it and we don’t eat pork. Asked the waitress if there was anything she could do about it. More a favour vs a demand. Another hostile no! The mung bean pancake we ordered were two teeny tiny disks, and cost $10. And finally, I’ve never been in any Korean restaurant that doesn’t serve kimchi on the side as a condiment. Yes, here, be prepared to fork out $3-4 for a small bowl of kimchi. All in all, very meh food but worse customer service!
Delicious Korean stews …. The perfect thing after a chilly day of hiking!
Food was all good. Somewhat pricey but you will get what you deserved. The seafood hotpot for me is the best.
This is my favorite Korean restaurant and I wish I could find it's like in the city. A must try if your in Jasper and it's owner Monika is very nice. If your new to Korean she can help you through the menu and your tastes
Another go-to when we're in Jasper. The kimchi jigae is my personal favourite. We usually over order due to everything being so delicious. Service here is great and attentive, even when the place is packed which it normally is.
We had Bul Gal Bi and Spicy Bul Goh Gi, as well as Korean Red Ginseng Tea. The food and drink was incredible! The music is the only thing that wasn't stellar! O.o Thanks for a great meal!
Great food! Nice cozy place!
We liked this restaurant before but im so disappointed during our last visit few days ago, food was not as good as before, stir fry dish worth $23 salty and small portion and this is the only korean restaurant in canada that you need to buy side dishes for them. My boyfriend loves kimchi so we ordered for 3 dollars but the kimchi is not fresh and the color is very pale. Not appetizing at all. The server is not very accommodating, she doest even smile and look at you.. funny thing is we waited outside the restaurant until 12 nn (opening time) but the lights inside is still off. So I called the restaurant if they will be open today and the lady told me its open already. I laugh and said we are literally outside your restaurant so she rushed outside to open the sign and door for us.tsk! ????
It was so so until the main menu. It didn't taste good overall.
Food is good, so as service, the only complain is waiting too long... But nothing to blame for, the night I visit were full house and many ppl waiting outside. Suggest making reservation in advance if possible.
If you are from a big city with good Korean restaurants, do not expect any from this restaurant. I rarely leave any review and this one is unfortunately a negative one. The soup I ordered… I think they recycled marinated beef for the soup as I tasted sweetness in spicy tofu soup. The soup base tasted exactly like an instant noodle. The bowl of rice was the best part of the meal. If you want some taste of Korean food in Jasper, buy some instant noodle from Korean market.
Always good to be go during visiting Jasper. If you like spicy Korean. I cannot find other Koren restaurants that are this good.
A much needed dining experience after days of eating Canadian/diner food while exploring the parks. This was my parents’ first time eating Korean food and they loved it! Only downside was that it was pricey - especially compared to back home in Toronto. There were also no sides.
Went to this restuarant on a weeknight. It was busy but the service time was reasonable. We ordered the fried dumplings (quite oily), soft tofu soup (delicious and good portion, can really taste the tomatoes) and bulgogi (a bit salty). I was surprised that there were no side dishes that many Korean places serve. I would visit again.
Small but very busy place. Food was okay. Price is what you would expect from a tourist town.
The spicy selections are delicious and flavourful but if you ask for no spice it is very bland. They have child friendly seats and dishware which was nice.
Ok, so. First thing first, the dining environment is so bad. Some dudes just had to make themselves noticeable, laughing as loud as they can. The waiter cannot even hear what I ordered, I cannot even hear myself. Plus, it took us at least 5 mins till they came with a "ready to serve" attitude. We called them again and again, they tend to ignore us by repeatedly saying "one sec" "wait" "one moment". We had to sit there like idiots staring at the front desk, and wait till someone showed up and help us order the food. Literally, it's 3 afternoon, and there's barely anyone there. Also, there's only 1 waiter serving ppl, which means. That guy is doing all the work, while the boss just standing there and doing nothing instead of looking at us with no smile on her face. Worst experience. We came from Vancouver, and we've never seen any restaurant with such a bad attitude and environment like this.
Very good! Definitely recommended!!! I totally disagree with all the bad comments out there. It was very authentic Korean food, the tofu soup was very flavorful! Many people say that they put instant noodle powder in it, but I don’t think so. The service was also very fast and great, our food arrived 7 mins after we ordered it. The rice was very crispy also, just how I like it. The kimchi was probably my favorite thing we ordered there. The restaurant definitely lives up to its name: ‘The Kimchi House’!! Haha I don’t mean to complain or anything, but I think that the kimchi was a bit too spicy. But overall, it was very very very very very very very very very very very very very very good food, 100% recommended.
Meal type
Hands down the best Korean food I've had and we came a long way from Toronto where we have some bomb Korean restaurants. The dumplings were delicious and the Bul Go Gi was the absolute BEST. Hats off to the owner/chef and waitresses were very pleasant
Good Asian food in Jasper
Delicious food. Very much worth the wait. Service outside is painfully slow but enjoyed the food very much!
Cant go wrong with visiting Kimchi house while you are in Jasper.. It is delicious food with alot of flavour. We go here everytime we are in Jasper. If you are looking for authentic cuisine, you have to try Kimchi house.
great food. I never try new things my gf thought I was crazy for choosing this place for us when we didn't know what was what. awesome service checked on us regularly only reason it's not a 5 star is cause it was VERY pricey. 2 small dishes came to a whopping 50$ plus. they did try the 15% tip on the debit machine I refused gave her 4$. I'd eat here again if I was alone and spending 25$ on a decent meal that definitely would fill me up. sorry guys
Worst Korean food ever. High price and worse food!
Authentic feel and delicious food
Great Korean restaurant. So delicious
Very good place for food and great service. The ladies who are serving there could be more attentive when talking to customers. I'd definitely put 5 stars no problem.
Not bad just wish they had more choices of sushi, I mean they call themselves an Asian restaurant but they only have one type of sushi and it tastes like store bought sushi. Over priced as well
Service
The bad reviews don't make sense for this place. It's awesome! One of the best Korean foods I have had. We had to wait a little to be seated because it was really busy, and all the time we were there, there was a constant line up of people waiting to be seated. But don't let this to turn you around, the wait it's worthy. The servers were really friendly although they were busy. We ordered dinner for two and it was plenty of food (I didn't take a pic of the beef and the rice, too hungry!). All the flavours were so well put together, generous portions, fresh vegetables. I was really happy with this meal and prices were really good for being Jasper. We spent 50$ with the dinner for two and a pot of tea. I'll definitely come back next time!
Best Korean food that I have tried so far. I tried Korean Spicy Dak Bul Go gi (#18 on menu) on hot stone plate that was just amazing!! They were really busy but they were quick with service and food didn't take long time to make it to table. Server were professional and friendly. Food served in hot stone plates was unique for me.
Absolutely loved the experience ???????? the food was great and the staff friendly!
If you know about Korean food, do not go this place. Not worth to spend $3 for scoop of kimchi with $15 bibimbab( looks like). No taste at all. 한국 손님들 돈 낭비 하지 마세요
My fiance and I were visiting Jasper and got word that there was a Korean restaurant worth checking out while we were here. We had lunch here and it was incredible. We got the Kimchi Jegae ( kimchi soup with tofu and pork) - medium spicy and Spicy Bul Go Gi. When I say it was incredible, we finished the first order of Bul Go Gi and we were drooling for more; ordered another one as we finished our Kimchi Jegae. Note: the rice that came with each dish was nice and sticky, perfect to pickup along with the meats. I hope they expand because the food is absolutely worth it. There's an outdoor patio right now as well as indoor dining which is where we had our meal.
Extremely expensive (although I understand why), average service, a very very long waiting time for a average food quality. I would not recommend this place unless you are soo craving for Korean food.
Have to say this is not the same Korean food as served by any other Korean restaurants I tried in Toronto. And the taste is barely okay ish. I’d recommend go to a stake house unless you really want “Korean” food.
Their food were good but it took sooooo long to be served we have waited half an hour to get our first food????
We went there with Korean friends. food was ok but very bad service. I work in the service industry more than 20 years. This is the first restaurant very disappointed. I don’t want to give them even 1 star.
We came here right after a hike on a chilly fall day and it was exactly what we needed. Food was delicious and service was great. Would definitely recommend.
I went here once before and the food was great . Went there this Sunday and it was 7:30pm and tables were available . Because I was one person the lady said not now later so I had to leave .
Dinner
I am so sorry, I never leave a bad review but have to let it out. This place is really subpar and it was a huge let down during our trip. I couldn’t believe how inauthentic the food was here. Servers are not Korean (unlike 99% of other places) which is okay given the population and how remote the area is, but this was the worst Korean food I have ever had in Canada. We ordered the two people combo which started with really cheap quality dumplings, and chicken wasn’t fresh at all (also weird flavoured sauce for dakgalbi), followed by mediocre bulgogi at its best. Funnily enough the only thing I liked was their udon in the combo. What kind of restaurant doesn’t even include a series of side dishes in a meal and call themself Korean cuisine? You have to pay for individual side dish. I feel totally ripped off for what I got ???? Also I feel pretty bad for Jasper people who would think this is what Korean food is. Not quite. Banff was far better. I will be surprised if this place is actually run by a Korean person, if so please do a better job in representing the culinary tradition. I think your business needs a serious improvement.
Hands down best Korean restaurant Ive ever been, great service, even better food.
This was my first Korean food experience and they gave a very good impression . We have stired seafood (21) with potatoe noodles and stired seafood with rice i think (24). Food was delicious . And portions were adequate . Love the spicy …
Unfortunately, it was definitely not authentic Korean food. The soup tastes like instant Shin-Ramen and no side dishes provided. Bibimbab was not fresh and the rice was old. I have to say it was absolutely wasting of money. Very disappointing and I highly do not recommend this place.
Korean side/kimchi dishes NOT included in meals. This is the first time and ONLY place I hear this from the waitress after having Korean breakfast/lunch/dinner everywhere in the world. The waitress said we need to pay extra for the kimchi dishes. BTW we waited more than 30 minutes for the food on Tuesday lunch, assuming not busy!
Small portion of meat. I was charged 23.00 for 1 person. And it was so small not happy never going back. Disappointed. ???? should of got Pizza for that price and could of fed more people for that price..
The service is horrible, it takes 20 minutes to place order and wait forever for food to come. They don't serve side dish, side dish is extra. The tastes is really bad, beef is stiff as stone, too much salt in stir fry dishes. Not recommended.
Excellent food. Very popular so expect a wait. The meal for two was a bargain given the volume, variety and price.
The O-Bul Bul Go Gi was incredibly delicious. We got our food quickly and service was very good
Food is so so. There is no much choice here in Jasper as we know. However really not happy as they automatically added 15% tips on the bill without consulting us. Have to ask them to re-produce a new bill just want to tell them to do the right thing, even we did add 15% tips in the end.
You definitely get your value for your money! The dishes are very generous and tasty. The plating is an experience with special bowls and plates to serve the food and keep it warm. The staff is friendly and efficient We went here on our last day for lunch and had no doubt where to eat dinner. If you’re in jasper don’t miss out!! Kimchi House
Very nice soup I love soup with noodles and hands down the best egg roll
Not sure about the food. But think they have an attitude problem. Walked in around 5 minutes to 6. Waitress ask us "how many?". Told her a table for 2, and was immediately told they were full and no tables available, and told come back after 7pm. I looked around and the restaurant was 90% empty, but I didn't think much of it, and basked for a 7pm reservation. That was when she stared at me and said they do not take reservations, and only served walk ins only. I really want to ask why is that we walkin and there were no table when the restaurant is mostly empty, and refuse to reserve for a later time, and said they only serve walk-ins? So how does this make any sense?
Awesome place to have great hearty Korean food.
