Went on a Friday evening around 4:30, the place was pretty quiet. The food was good and service was good as well. Nothing too outstanding but if you want a place to watch hockey in Jasper with a straightforward menu and no fuss then I recommend the D'ed Dog

Overall it was a decent place! The service wasn't great. They only have a couple servers/bartenders for a decent-sized space, so be patient if you're going during a busy time. The food was pretty reasonable, all things considered. I had the Pub Burger and fries, which was tasty and well-portioned considering the price. There are a few other pub choices in the Jasper area, but this one does the trick if you're looking for a place to relax, have a drink, and enjoy some decent pub food!

During my visit the establishment was either understaffed or our waitress just paid attention to other tables more then ours. Upon taking a seat it was a long while before we were offered drinks. And after taking our food orders she never came back and had to ask someone who was clearly not a waitress for a drink refill which never came. But the food was good and the beer was cold.

Sandwich was good but service was horrible. The lady stood at the bar chatting to a friend the whole time we were there. Only one other customer was in the place but it took forever to place our order. Menu was online only and the wifi was spotty, I don't know if they have paper ones but it wasn't offered. We had to wave someone over for a box and the bill. The young man who helped us at the end was nice.

Absolutely cozy venue with a rich history rooted in the mountaineering community. Locals as well as the grand adventurer go here- even the owner is mountaineer (great guy who will chat you up with some good stories about the town and his adventures if you come by him). Oh, and the food is absolutely delicious!!

Very dark and dingy looking....gives the feel of a very old pub. When we arrived there was a group of guys at the bar, and 2 other couples....it took a good 10 minutes for the server to finally come over to us. She wasn't overly friendly or chatty - Took our order and left. I had a Moscow Mule which tasted quite watered down. My husband had a beer in the bottle, he was fine with it. We both ordered burgers - husband said his was fine, I had a bean burger and it was very bland. Literally no taste what so ever (and I know you can make those flavorful). The food overall was okay (hey, we didn't get sick!) Service was pretty blah, especially since it wasn't overly busy. It might be an okay place to go if you want somewhere quite.

This review is only for the pub burger and fries, they’re fairly priced and fries came out nice and warm. Seemed like everything else was quite expensive which is to be expected in jasper. Service and beer were good.

Grabbed a beer and appetizers here while wandering Jasper, the patio was a collection of old furniture and ok comfort wise, service was middle of the road, the platter of appi's was dominated by their dog bones (beef ribs) which were tough and soaked in sauce, the chicken strips, ribs and dip were all good but a miss on the beef ribs. Would seek out a different pub if heading back.

Great little pub, stumbled upon it by accident and really glad we did. First of all their Ded Dog red ale is to die for! One of the best red ales I’ve had and I drink a lot of different beers. This is a hard one. We had supper there and it wasn't good and it wasn't bad. We had the quesadilla it was kinda tasteless. It came on a whole wheat shell which is not good. Should be on a white or corn. The service is quite slow but perhaps that's the way Jasper is. With covid, everything is slower. Good pricing.

I hate to make bad reviews. I been here before, but this time the service was pretty bad. Our server was mean. She wasn't a delight at all. At first we figured she was the only server and the place seemed a little full so maybe she was just tired and grumpy because of that. It cleared out and she was still so grumpy. On top of that I wanted to experience some elk or venison which is why we went here, but the burger patty was so burnt it didn't taste like anything other than burnt meat. Anyway, the bartender was jolly when we walked in so figured that would set the tone. The appetizers were tasty, we had chilli and wings. Good beer selection. Unfortunately, it was not the greatest experience, wish we went somewhere else.

My friends and I were visiting Jasper for the weekend and decided to grab a bite here. We were welcomed by friendly service and directed to find ourselves a seat wherever we’d like. So far our experience was good and it had met expectations. Until we got our food. My friend got the hotdog with fries, and she found the favour of the fries was a bit off. Maybe old oil or something, but she wasn’t a fan and didn’t have the heart to send it back. My other friend ordered a garden salad with grilled chicken. She found the chicken to be dry and a bit tough as well as some of the salad toppings were mushy. My partner and I got the big game burger as we both love wild game and enjoy its unique flavour. Unfortunately we also found these to be disappointing as well. My partner wasn’t particularly impressed with the burger because it was dry from it being over cooked. I found mine to be burnt and couldn’t get past the black crust on the outside. I was hoping to get a hold of the server to ask for a new one but she was busy with a couple other tables or out of sight. We were asked about out appetizers which were pretty good. I had the spinach dip and liked it. But we weren’t asked about the food after the burgers were delivered. It’s a shame because we see there are a lot of good reviews but we’re disappointed by this experience.

Worst experience I've had. I would absolutely not recommend this establishment to anyone. The server blatantly ignored us for the duration of our stay, despite walking past our table dozens of times, and only became interested in when it was time to pay, She had clearly been expecting a tip, for well I'm not sure what reason on earth other than anticipated obligation, as she let out a "Ugh" after I gave her exact change. As expected, she did not wish us a fair well, ask us if we enjoyed our meals, made no effort to engage in any conversation, nor did she show respect for COVID or general santitation expectations in the food industry, having walked behind the bar muiltple times to snack, her fingers making contact with her mouth followed by no sanitizer or handwashing of any kind. Seemed more interested in conversing with the other staff members(s), an older female waitress & young male bartender, rather than trying to upsell or encourage a second visit, which is how most establishments find success. Word of mouth. Stay away. The food was subpar at best as it was oversalted accompanied by the worst service I have ever received.

It's a good spot for a quick bite to eat while exploring Jasper and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I went in late August 2020 and it was lightly staffed so the wait was a little long to be served but I ordered the fish and chips, and it did not disappoint and the portions were generous.

Waited a while to be served and ordered the shepherds pie, although what a had was nice, it was a really small portion and way over priced but then 95% of the places are for what you get. When we came in for drinks and food our server took a half hour before coming to our table.she just walked up and looked at us didn’t say a word. The D'ed Dog is awesome! I stop by every time I'm in Jasper. I love the atmosphere, they HAVE KOKANEE ON TAP (I'm from Edmonton and not many places here have that). This picture has the Turkey Bacon Club sandwich and the Beef Dip. Wow....the sandwiches were delicious and they tasted so fresh. The staff are always so pleasant as well. They recently built an outdoor patio on the street and it's amazing! I can honestly say I've never had a negative experience here!

My wife and I chose it for dinner. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming and efficient. I had the pub burger which tasted great and at the price is a great value option un Jasper. My wife had the ‘Root Salad’ with a side of chicken. She enjoyed the taste but the small order was very very very small and I didn’t feel great about the value of it for the 15 dollars it cost. Great feel to the pub , great people and good tasting food just wouldn’t go near that salad again.

Be aware of getting dogged by De'd Dog! Ordered the Big Game Burger with soup, Sheppards Pie with Salad and Loaded Potatoe Skins for $57 dollars and change and I even tipped $2 as I went in to pick up the order. So the Burger came with no side the loaded skins were skimpy as well as the Sheppards Pie was a little on the skimpy side too! Now all this being said the gentleman I did order from was very nice and thus the reason why I tipped even though it was for pick-up and I didn't have to tip at all! Try dining in so you don't get dogged!

Read it all I can't re review The 8 ball didn't come out in the pool table when I put my money in and pushed the rack (it happens I know) so i gave the machine mechanism another push or two nothing crazy just a love tap as anyone would, before they asked for help, i had a customer not a staff member, A CUSTOMER say it was time to go. When I asked why, he said his girlfriend was the manager (Not that it's any of his business) but He was very aggressive and actually asked my colleague for a full on physical altercation. Crazy I know but it happened so be aware. Anyway. If his girlfriend was the manager, ( I couldn't care less) then she should of cut him off hours ago. This is a tourist hot spot, not a play ground for you to get free drink because you're banging the staff. Professionally speaking if any person (customer or staff) put there hands on another person, which he did, especially in these uncertain times, its definitely grounds for disciplinary action. .............................................................................................................................. I have since visited this location and every time with hesitation and disagreement to my colleagues and friends who speak only good things about the place and honestly i have to say this place is a safe place and I haven't had any problems since then and i appreciate the reply and I do see the difference. ....... I loved this place! I was looking online to figure out where to eat in jasper, and I saw a picture of the fries at De'd Dog. I had to try them! I got the "Big Game" burger with fries and mannnn I was not disappointed!! The place was a little busy with only one server on, but we didn't mind because she was great! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes pub food that isn't run of the mill. And I must say, after going through previous reviews and seeing the replies written by the owner, I'm even more a fan of this pub! Shame we didn't get to meet him! ????

Had the bison burger, and it was incredible, fries were great too and there were plenty! Just wish there were a bit more gravy but it's all good. Girlfriend got chicken strips and a Cesar salad side. Her meal was okay, not particularly good or bad. Service was nice. Definitely recommend trying the bison burger, it's only available on Mondays though.

Fun atmosphere in this bar. Only a 2 star because were seated for 10 minutes with multiple servers walking past us and no one brought a food menu or asked if we wanted drinks. The bar was not busy and had many empty tables. We went to the bar and ordered our own drinks. By the time we finished the beer there was still no menu offered or any wait staff acknowledge that we were there, even though they were serving tables all around us. We left after our first beer.

The De'd Dog Bar & Grill has a nice atmosphere. Tables are decently spaced for physical distancing. Hand sanitization available at the entrance. QR Codes can be used to access the menu and digital check-in allows for contact tracing in case of exposure. We were walk-ins and were seated immediately. That being said, the place was moderately busy and we waited a little while for our food. The Big Game Burger seemed a little overcooked, but the portion was generous and the fries were very tasty. I ordered a side-gravy and hot dang, I don't know if I was just starving but the gravy was amazing.

We were just walking by and my very pregnant friend wanted to sit for a minute and so we did at the patio right outside De'd dog, the waitress, a colored lady , comes rushing out and asks us if we want something and we told her we just need a minute, she glares at us and asks us to leave ! Wow ! Also, the place was practically empty , I can understand if it was busy ! Abysmal behaviour ! Wanted to come by here during our stay but after this experience we would take our business elsewhere .

Great for locals, awful for tourists. My husband and I went in for drinks and appies. Horrific service, incredibly rude to tourists. Food and drinks were good, reasonable price. To obtain said food and drinks, we had to physically get up and ask for food, beer, the bill. Servers and staff were doing shots. Yeah okay maybe we arent local, but get over yourself. Great for locals, awful for tourists. Plenty of other nice pubs that visitors can go to while staying in Jasper.

My boyfriend and I were staying at the hotel attached to the bar, and decided it looked like a nice place to get a drink and some food. We were completely mistaken. The wait staff not only favored locals but made it a point to ignore us when we tried to order and pay our Bill, and the bar was extremely loud, keep in mind we are a young couple who is used to a bar scene, and even we found this ridiculous. The food and drinks were over priced and not very good and the whole evening was kind of a waste because we came here. Wouldn't reccomend to anyone and would not come again. If I could rate it no stars I would.

This place was not very good. My friends try to order a steak sandwich that they didn’t have and they got served just a piece of over cooked steak. Also was asked fries or Caesar salad and when my friend asked for Caesar salad got charged 3 dollars. When we pointed it out the server was very rude and said it was on the menu. When we finished and paid it took awhile for her to come and get our payment. And was also so rude and threw my friends receipt at him. When leaving we were told not to come back. Don’t worry we will not be coming back.

Loved the name of this place and it had good reviews online. We found a table easily but were disappointed with the beer selection and the service. Having worked in the service industry I can certainly appreciate good service when I come across it - there were 8 other people in the restaurant and service was slow and unfriendly. The microwaved artichoke dip was nice but something I could make at home. Go elsewhere in Jasper because there are better places around!

Terrible service ruined the experience for us. The bar was lively and busy and at first we thought that was why the service was so slow, which would have been understandable. But in the 2 hours we were there, we only saw our server when he took our orders, brought our drinks, and then our food. We were hoping and willing to buy more beer as the prices were reasonable, but were never given the chance. We noticed in the time we were there that our servers had a few shots themselves, which was a very disappointing reason to be ignored the whole night. The food itself was slightly cold and dry. Would not recommend this place to visitors.

This place is okay if you go with a large crowd. We were told to sit down where ever we would like, so we did. Asked right away if we wanted drinks, and we received them fast. Looked promising, and then we sat at the table for about 35 minutes without the waiter looking at us or even acknowledging us. They focused on the bigger tables and I was in a party of 2. We left and went else where. The food that was passing by looked great and smelt great though, was just the servicing that was disappointing.

Extremely slow and inattentive table service; in the end, the food was tasty, but not as ordered. Steak came in well done instead of the medium-rare I ordered, but it took so long to arrive in the first place that I was afraid that if I sent it back I wouldn't eat for yet another hour. As for drinks ... after waiting for close to 1/2 hour to be asked for our drinks order, I gave up and went to the bar to order and take our drinks to the table myself. Twice. The waitress was unfazed.

Went there with a friend for some beers and food. Saw the waitress the first time after waiting for about 15 minutes. Then after asking for the beer selection (we never got a drink menu), we were offered one draft lager. After asking for an IPA, we were offered the same lager again. The waitress then tipped one of the glasses on the table (no worries, accidents happen). After that came the 40 mins wait to receive our food order, which were two burgers. After the first bite, it was apparent that my burger bun was burnt to charcoal. After waiting for another 15 minutes to see the waitress, I sent back the burger, and received a new one. Except the kitchen only replaced the bun, and gave back the same patty I already took a bite from. At least I hope it was mine... But since the whole burger was cold, it was terrible and couldn't eat more than a few bites. We also never received any napkins or ketchup or anything. The waitress offered some discount, but comparing it to what food we received, it was a joke. It was a busy night I give them that, but it was by far the worst experience I had in a pub for the last couple of years. Wouldn't even consider going back.

We walked in to have a look at the place and the only visible staff member walked right by us without any type of greeting or asking if wanted anything to drink or eat. There was only one person sitting at the bar and a couple of people sitting at a table. We decided to leave and check out some other spot nearby. After walking around we decided to give the place a try because the other places were so busy. Upon returning to the Dead Dog, we sat ourselves at a table located about 10 feet from the bar. There was a few more full tables by this time and still the same waitress/bartender on duty. We sat waiting to be acknowledged for about 15 minutes when the waitress finally slid a couple menus to us and left without asking if we even wanted food or if we wanted anything to drink. Another 10 minutes passed and she returned to take our orders. We ordered a french onion soup and a couple of cocktails. The drinks and soup arrived in a reasonable time although the french onion soup tasted like a can of chicken soup with a half melted cheese slice on top (see photo). Based on reading the other reviews and the handful of responses by owner, Oliver Andrew, It is clear that there are major management issues. Oliver even goes so far to insult someone who left a bad review based on their screen name. To summarize; sub-par food, horrendous service...don't waste your time.

We walked in as the name was the selling point for us first timers to Jasper. We found a table near the bar where we sat for a few minutes and the bar tender gave us menus and walked away. She went behind the bar and continued her side duties as we sat there for 5 minutes without any acknowledgement. We watched her listen into conversations to the people already served at the bar and neglected to even look at us. The establishment had about 12 people in it. I don't even think she noticed us get up and leave. I've been in the hospitality industry for a long time and I understand when people are busy, service may lack. At the end of it all, we took our business elsewhere and tipped the server/bartender who had a fairly full place 30%.

Obviously this place had a bunch of their friends flood the reviews as there's no way this place had 4.0 stars. The service was absolutely awful, a group of six and we were served one beer each and never asked if we wanted to order more drinks. We saw several tables that came after us and get their food first. After about an hour, we got our food and it was cold and way overcooked. We talked to a few people outside after and they said the owner doesn't like tourists. Well then don't open a restaurant in jasper? Jeez, hope they go out of business.
