Restaurant Chez Barbe was one of our favorite restaurant. It was a good place to go for Sunday Brunch. After having not been there for a while we went after church last Sunday. Change, most noticeably quality and freshness "moldy fruits" also a cutback on service staff even Our favorite little waitress is gone. She was always attentive and friendly and mostly kept us entertained . Menu Change, Price Increase but no change in food amount or quality. The service was very slow, even though it was not crowded at all. So sad when a good place goes bad so fast. Restaurant may look busy, but it is not.

Generic breakfast diner but it has a pretty large menu. Can get pretty much water want for breakfast or brunch just don't expect any crazy specialty dishes. Food was good but I suspect they pre-cook their bacon in large batches and have it in bin warming, as they should to accommodate large amounts of orders, but be forewarned it's cooked to black crisp ... I'm sure if you asked you could get some cooked to your desire I just wasn't prepared and too lazy to reorder... Plus anytime you get your plate and ask for something redone you're pretty much asking for the spit special

Price is good. The food is ok though. Don't be surprised if something on your order is off either. It's never anything big, usually just a minor detail. It's definitely worth what you pay. I'll likely go back.

I order Benedictine eggs... My eggs was to much cook (close to hard) even if I ask for light cook for my eggs. Benedictine eggs are suppose to be poach and have their center like liquide not jelly. My partners said that the fruit jelly taste funny, I try and agree. We also found that the peanuts butter had to much sugar in it. However, the staffs is friendly and the potatoes taste good. The restaurent is there since 1936 or so but there is no picture of the past of the restaurent. That would have been a grate had to the interior design. Unfortunately the culinary experience was so so. We wont go back.

I love this place so many different kinds of breakfasts, extremely reasonable prices, friendly service, its exactly what would be classified as a "greasy spoon." Its exactly what you pay for none less, and always a little different. I wish they would scrub the windows clean of all the paint in the windows. They should give it a rest for a while and let the sunlight come in then get them repainted with something fresh on them. The paint honestly looks awful currently.

Well, our waitress was really nice. She forgot a couple of things, but that was okay. What was NOT okay was that my daughter found meat in what was supposed to be a vegetarian dish, and the cook came out to tell her that was too bad, but he was certain there was no more meat in it - just one piece fell in when he was tranferring plates (??!!!) We wanted a new one, but he said he's not making a new one, she could eat the one she had in front of her or have nothing. Shockingly rude.

This building is very old. As in it was built when people were much shorter on average, so watch your head if you're tall. I'm average height, so i had a great time. The tortiere wasnt as good as my mom's, but how many breakfast places have tortiere anyways? Their homemade jam is way better than any jam my mom has made though, and you can even buy jars of it to take home!

This kind of places should be rewieved properly. We choose this place because of the rating in tripadvisor. Its dirty, and smelling bad food and dish. It wasnt full all the tables still you have to wait ca 7 minutes to get the menus, another 10 minutes to order and more thanl 30 minutes for an omelette and egg. There is a serious stress and hectic among the waiters , you feel really bad while seating. Its a terrible place!

I went to Chez Barbe's in Hull recently. The place has gone way downhill from a few years ago. Don't go there. I had the lunch special and ordered a chocolate milk (small). It ended up costing me 3.95 for what I am pretty sure was chocolate powder. They used to be good, but gouging customers is no way to build repeat business.

The place is dirty and greasy floors, carpet and tables and looking into the cooking area it appeared to be no better . the waitress was ignorant and the coffee cup had lipstick on it. Fruits are moldy . its disgusting.
