I was there recently, being from Burnaby (not far from Richmond) I have my fair share of good Asian food. I went to New Golden Star for dinner, I saw the buffet but I ordered off the menu, portions were big, fresh, service was super friendly, it's all you can eat or order off menu, that's pretty awesome. Seen all the negative reviews and not sure what they were so upset about, I found it to be a pleasant experience. Definelty will come back and maybe check out the buffet next time.

Weird place. Signs all over about I'd required for kids to prove age for buffet price. The owner watches you like a thief. Very uncomfortable setting. Zero service. Maybe it's a takeout place that has table, not sure. Food is alright from the buffet but I'd strongly encourage takeout only. Very unwelcoming environment. Better food than ginko in chilliwack though because you can at least chew your food.

I order off the menu always, the buffet is great, but I prefer stuff you can't get on the buffet. Ginger beef, I'm allergic to pork, is one such item. They have a unreal war wonton. It's a bit expensive but it's the best hope has to offer. So five stars 100%

I keep giving this place a second chance the lady at the front counter is very ignorant and rude every time I’ve been in or have called on the phone she pretends she doesn’t know what plum sauce is and makes a big deal about putting one plum sauce and one Soy sauce in your bag to eat with your meal that you just spent $20 “I Dare you to ask for Chopstix” I would have to recommend KanYon for better quality service but chow mein is better also .. Amazing food for a small town. Had the chicken fried rice and sweet n sour pork. The meal was inexpensive like $6 and very fresh. The decor is outdated but for me that really doesn't matter. Next time I'm in hope I will be back.

Just visiting Hope and ordered delivery to our motel. It arrived in a timely manner,super fresh, very tasty, and way more in quantity then expected. It will be breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Plates and cutlery provided without asking. Wonderful!,

Decent place for a quick bite. The food is a bit on the greasy side, but not excessively so. One thing that was quite off-putting was the amount of signage around the restaurant telling you all the things you are not permitted to do. I'm fine with a policy sign here and there, but they really are everywhere. It communicated that your aren't really welcomed here, just tolerated until you pay your bill and vacate.

The food was awful. The buffet starts at 4pm and at 4:10 the rice and chow mien were crusty already meaning it was old. The sweet and sour sauce is way too thick and the deep fried shrimp was nothing but dough. The egg rolls were wrapped in the same dough as the shrimp...gross. Way too much money for such terrible food and service.

The till and debit machein are very dirty. I almost did not order. If they are unable to keep that clean it makes me worry about back of house. Got wrong item in my order. I only got four small peice of pork in my beef and brocoli It was good. The almond chicken was so so greasy. Friendly staff.

Stopped in here while visiting hope, buffet food was great, service was good and would give it an overall 5 star for what it is. Obviously isn’t fancy so if presentation means a lot to you, maybe you won’t like it but if your looking for a casual place to eat this is a good choice!

It's a pretty good chinese buffet. Not the best selection but if your hungry and want some chinese food its a great place to go. Its a short drive from the highway, you can just walk right in, sit down and start eating. Located conveniently across the street from a government liquer store too if you need some drinks afterwards ????

For a small town hole in the wall this place was surprisingly tasty- with good customer service and a quick takeout time! We would definitely eat here again. Nothing tasted too greasy and eveything tasted fresh, even though it was later in the evening.
