We heard about this place on TV when they reviewed it on “You gotta way here “ and we loved the place. It’s a student pub and the portions are huge and the burgers juicy and plenty of fries to eat or to take home... we typically can’t finish it but plenty to eat the following day. People are friendly and the service very good! Enjoy!

I'd give this place 5 stars if the service was as good as the food, but it wasn't. Not at all. However, the food is incredible! I got the veggie burger on The Southern Picnic with fries. Absolutely epic. The Long Island Iced Tea is also amazing here. So you should definitely go...just don't expect service with a smile.

Fully Vaxxed. First time out... in a while. The Ship’s Greeter gave me a boost of confidence with their seating procedures. Server (Chris) was awesome, food was a pleasant surprise (I don’t normally order fish, but I’m glad that I did!) Just a very excellent time. It was good to be back on Augusta.

Ordered the fried chicken a few weeks ago. For all of the restaurants serving fried chicken these days, the Ship takes the cake by a long shot! And the fresh cut fries were amazing too. And the portions???? I was just thinking about this meal now and felt it was worth sharing. Gotta go back soon.

We went for lunch and sat on the very welcoming back patio - greenery, some shade, really nice. I had planned to have perch. However when I got there I decided I had to have the Sweet Cheesus burger and it was fantastic! What a great combination of flavours and textures! I had to take most of my fries home as the burger was quite filling. Looking forward to coming back for the perch next time (unless I succumb to the lure of Sweet Cheesus again).

I would leave them a zero if i could. I walked in with a group of friends to enjoy dinner and drinks. I walked up to the bar to order a pitcher for a group of five and was told that if I sat back down with my friends I would be able to order. I sat back down and they denied all of us service. They said we were too drunk to order however after the waitress came back to charge us for our food she said she did not deserve a tip as she knew they messed up on their assessment of us. We got to enjoy food that was mediocre with no drinks on tap so fortunately so we left to get drinks at another place.

We went here for a burger during COVID 19. I got the hot shot, while my friend got the big smoke. The hot shot was awesome! It was a big, juicy burger that was spicy. The spice wasn't overbearing, it was just right. The side of fries was also good and made a great complement to the burger. I would definitely recommend this place for your next hamburger if you're in Hamilton.

Warning. I was denied indoor service even though I am double vaccinated. They do not allow people who have a federal certificate to dine indoors if the QR code doesn’t work than they won’t accept it or think it’s fake. I’m in the military and all of our members have federal healthcare so if your healthcare is outside of OHIP then they will reject you from dinning inside. The burger was good. The beer the served was flat.

Easy five out of five, and definitely one of the best burger joint in the city. The burger is large and contains lots of delicious ingredients. It is juicy n tasty, and the fries are not your regular pub fries. These are legit! The patio at the back is my favourite spot. Don’t think there is free parking in the area.

I have eaten at the restaurant before but this time I ordered via UberEats. Everything I’ve had has been really good. This time I ordered the coconut shrimp. It was delicious but $15 for 5 shrimp was a bit disappointing.

The food and service is excellent ????. I ordered takeout and was pleasantly greeted upon entering by a very lovely young woman with my order ready to go. The food was amazing sweet potato fries were delicious and seasoned perfectly and the burger I ordered was equally delicious hats off to the chef. My only small suggestion would be to lighten up slightly on the grilling of the burger just a tad but I can understand people complain if they see pink at all, either way the burger was still fantastic very fresh ingredients and full of flavour. Great job keep up the good work.

Well we were there tonight, 5 of us. Rustic the place is, we were seated in the rear patio. ok for comfort, but this is the C-19 era. Service was great, nice ladies, then the food came, four awesome burger plates, wow. I had the fish, five pieces of it, again awesome and wow. . Not a pretentious restaurant and not just a seafood place. They cook the best gourmet burgers around and prepare great small portion salads. Don't know where they find their lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, alfalfa, etc. but it's as fresh as if they had their own greenhouse in the backyard. I'm a regular at The Ship and my favorite is the Northern Exposure burger (made with tender beef patty, spicy pecans, maple mayonnaise, bacon and aged Canadian cheddar).

The best thing about this place is their friendly staff, a lively bunch who always have a smile on their faces. They offer a small selection of pub food including a handful of gourmet burgers; we tried the Cheeseburger in Paradise, which was a 4/5 for us. They also have a large selection of craft beers both on tap & can. Would highly recommend the Amsterdam Blonde Larger, which according to the lady who attended to our table also happens to be their most popular offering. The Ship also offers both indoor and outdoor seating on the ground level, with some seating available on the first floor as well.

Drinks are okay. Staff is friendly. Location is great, especially if you can get a spot on their patio. That said, the food here is disappointing, I definitely think that's a huge area of improvement. They have a really nice front patio and a back patio. There is decent inside seating, with a nice upstairs. No air conditioning on the hot days though. My friends and I come here once in a while for a drink, we really do like the location, but end up spending most of our time somewhere else with better food and drinks.

Recently ordered through Uber eats, as COVID protocols have shut down the dining room. Food was delicious as always, and arrived faster than expected. I recommend their Chicken fried chicken as it is crispy and delicious! Coconut shrimp as an appetizer is also very well prepared. The Ship has a unique menu that doesn't disappoint! Looking forward to my next meal from this little pub with tasty grub!

I didnt expect much as its hamilton..boy was i wrong. This place just blew me away. The food was increadible. I had a burger and it was massive. The toppings were great and the sweet potato fries were crispy. I was impressed by the micro brewery beer selection. I had a Peel&Tea IPA and it was one of the best beers i've had in a long time. Would i go back. YES! I'd even go out of my way to eat there.

Ordered lunch for delivery here today, I'm vegetarian and didn't realize the black bean burger I ordered had bacon on it. They were gracious enough to catch that and put it on the side. Burger was AMAZING. Will be back to sit on the patio!

Excellent food, fast service, and cool atmosphere. Will definitely recommend and return. Lots of unique craft beers to try. We got the fried chicken and cheeseburger. Both were excellent. The fried chicken is prepared in a pickle brine so it was a little pickle-y for my taste but very tasty and well prepared. The kettle chips it comes with are very good. The cheeseburger was perfect, beef was juicy and cooked well, with just the right balance of toppings. Nothing was too greasy or too salty, which can often happen with pub food. We were seated and served right away and food came quickly even though the restaurant was pretty full. Overall, very impressed!

The burgers are fantastic! The atmosphere is casual like a pub but in a house and quaint! Prices are great! Service was good. So many beers to choose from. Great place to hook up with friends to catch up, have a beer, bite to eat and make new memories! This restaurant wouldn’t be very good for guests with wheelchairs or walking difficulties as there is a big flight of stairs to the restroom and additional dining room. It’s small on the ground level and upstairs.

The Ship was a fantastic place to get loaded burgers. We absolutely adored their burgers and the pick up / take out experience went smoothly. They had plain fries but also seasoned fries which were so good combined with the dipping sauce. The fries were cooked well, not raw or too crispy. For sure could have ordered just fries and been happy! We had some amazing burgers that were super flavourful and packed full of goodness. The Ship is for sure a great place to satisfy your burger craving. Covid-19 protocols are followed very well and enforced strictly.

My partner and I dined at The Ship this evening, an experience nothing short of amazing. The atmosphere alone is something to marvel at, with the quaint outdoor patio cozy, warm, and lit with beautiful lights, the back wall covered with gorgeous ivy. Greeted pleasantly at the door with jokes and warm regard, the wait was to be around 30 minutes. We were seated quicker than anticipated (10-15 mins at most) and offered beverages promptly by our lovely server, Danielle. The food is absolutely to die for! I had the Sweet Cheesus burger (with additional grilled pear - highly recommended) and my partner had the Hot Shot burger with sweet potato fries. Overall, our experience here was absolutely delightful and we will certainly be back! Thanks for a lovely evening! Stay safe!

Courteous staff and good food. They do an excellent catfish and the best duck wings my wife and I have had anywhere (juicy, not oily, and tender). However, if you have dietary restrictions, like my wife (no gluten, soy or dairy) then you had better be careful. We were informed that most items are done in same deep fryer, so cross-contamination is problem (as my wife found out). Unfortunately, I can't recommend the fries either - they were heavy and bit overdone - definitely not up to par with the rest of the food. But despite that one strike and one caveat, it is still a place I would recommend if you want to nosh a little.

Whenever someone asks for the best burger in Hamilton, I always comment with "The Ship, hands down!" I have never been disappointed by them and neither have my friends and family. My only complaint is that they're so popular it can be difficult to get in (when not in lockdown). They're takeout is also on point with everything tasting just as fresh and delicious! Great flavors and great portion sizes!

I have been here more times than I can count, every time it’s amazing and I leave happy and satisfied. I often grab the burgers (still one of the best in the city) and mix it up. What I really love is the craft beer rotation so you can always find something new or interesting to drink. The Caesars are amazingly well made and the atmosphere is really fun and decorative (especially during patio season). The only thing I have that is a drawback (not enough to drag it down) is that there isn’t enough space to have more people!

1st time there today and it gave me a WOW I am glad I did this today!!! "The Aprokalypse Now" with lots of bacon, delicious home burger with cheese on a an awesome bun, served up with some tasty fries. The Ship consistently delivers great quality. I have often "dined-in" (aka their outdoor patio which is a cool little enclosed area. Plus heaters for colder weather) and have also ordered via delivery a few times and even still my burger and fries are well-packed, perfectly made and delicous- so kudos to the BOH staff! The service staff are also a delight and are extremely diligent with covid protocols.

Love this place! Have been there a few time now mainly for drinks but dont discount the food, its amazing! Their burgers are to die for especially if you swap the regular old plain patty out for the buttermilk chicken! Favourites definitely include The Hot Shot & The Southern Picnic if you get there in time for dinner. Keep in mind kitchen switches to Late Night Menu around 9pm. If you are there for drinks around 9:30 or later, the Sweet and Spicy Nachos are a win as well! Definitely a surprise that a place that is meant to be for drinks is amazing for their quality and portions of food as well! A must try!

A great restaurant for me includes many things. First the food has to be great and it certainly is here, my cheeseburger was fit for two meals and kettle chips were wonderful. Secondly the service must be friendly, helpful and attentive, all of which was certainly here. Third, the atmosphere must be interesting and clean with music not too loud. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go here for awhile for its great reviews and finally made it for a good time. We went around 7:30 and had about a 10 minute wait time, but around 10pm it gets packed. Our waitress was very diligent in checking up on us and the food and drinks came quickly as well. We were absolutely blown away by the poutine and I loved my buttermilk chicken Hot Shot burger too! Very flavourful food and a great environment. We were upstairs and it wasn't loud at all so we were able to eat and have a conversation! Definitely would go back!

This place is a little small there is a downstairs and an upstairs and if you get the high seating it's a little annoying but we moved to a table when people left. The food was amazing we had the pear burger with sweet potato fries and the Catfish fish and chips that was outstanding. I didn't even want to dip it in the tartar sauce. We also had the duck wings and the fried pickles as appetizers they were amazing. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. The staff is also very nice and welcoming.

My friend and I went here for a girls night, the only major complaint is the wait time, was promised a 30 minute wait but it was more of a 50 minute wait. All the staff were amazing and super lovely. Had the plain Jain burger with bacon, the gluten free bun is a little crumbly but overall taste is great & GOOD portions!

Fantastic food quality but what stops them from getting 5 stars is they only have craft beer. Amsterdam blonde is good but a little hoppy for me. Service was good and when sitting outside, sit in the back rather then the front. Nice big booths in the back. The pictures are of the cheese burger in paradise, the catfish Po boy and fish tacos.

Fried chicken was excellent, some of the best we've ever had - juicy and crispy. Try with the honey lime sriracha! Don't bother with the Perch BLT. It was very bland. Toast was dry. Tried the fish by itself and it had no taste. We asked if any of the fish could be grilled/non-breaded, but it couldn't so it was likely bought pre-breaded and frozen, not made in house. Handcut fries were crispy and delicious, perfectly salted. We were a bit disappointed in the service. Had to look around for the waitress to get her attention while she was at the bar chatting with friends. Had to flag her down each time, to ask questions, to order, to get the bill and to pay (finally had to go to the bar because she never returned after giving us the bill). Seemed unaware of the natural timing of when we'd need basic service. Never asked about the food, even though we left most of the sandwich untouched. Ambiance inside is nice, cozy and rustic, but we'll likely do takeout next time.

I chose fish tacos despite the burger-heavy menu and was pleasantly surprised. I found these tacos were tastier than many I’ve had at taco-based restaurants in Hamilton. Staff are fast and friendly and the dining areas are super comfortable!

Reservations at another restaurant were unfortunately messed up, we decided to head over to The Ship for lunch instead. Would have went with The Ship if we knew it about it first. Very friendly and sociable staff, food was great and their drinks were even better. Staff has a good sense of humor and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we need. My friends and I loved their Peachy Keen drink. Definitely try it if you go!

Excellent little pub in downtown Hamilton. Plenty of cool brews on tap with great service from friendly staff. The food is very good, the duck wounds are truly to die for, I'll most definitely be back.

Ate here on the recommendation of my daughter, and was not disappointed. Nice laid back atmosphere--staff not rushing clientele. And in the summer there's back patio. Huge selection of burgers + you can make your own to order as they have a zillion toppings. ???????????????? up!

Great hidden spot. They have a very cute patio in the back. The service was great and the burger I ordered was amazing and full of flavour. We also got a fish sandwich that was also great but the beef burger was a bigger hit.

Very cute place for a date or small group social. Think old house turned to bar. If you like seafood this is the place to go. Personally I loved the sangrias.

The best hamburgers in town! Great balance of craft beers and mirco brewery options. Everything on their menu is great! (I really miss their breaded chicken wings but I guess you can't have everything lol) This is my default place to bring out-of-town guests to the Hammer.
