Food was delicious! It is classy place that make you feel comfortable and looked after. It has a class and the panache and that my friends is not common in Hamilton. European feel. Cook is a chef and food naturally is par expellant! Place has upper part by the window with great view and for dining and lower part small café/lounging area to relax with drink or wait for party to arrive.

The food here is amazing! Staff was extremely friendly and energetic. Antipasto plates are perfect for sharing. I went with my office as a Christmas party but will definitely be going back with friends, family and for date nights. Atmosphere is fantastic and is a lovely vibe. Parking isn't great, tiny lot and payment is required.

Amazing food! I had to start this by saying the food was truly amazing. Some of the best Italian I've ever had. I chose this place for an anniversary dinner. It was a great choice. I only had 2 small issues with the experience. The first, our particular waiter seemed quite distracted by everything else in the restaurant, it felt like he forgot about us repeatedly. We walked in next to a couple of friends that were part of a party of 6. They were seated at the same time as us and left about 30 minutes before we did. We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours. We asked for the bill, he brought it to the table and didn't return for about 10-15 minutes. Another waiter came to re-fill our water and we mentioned all we needed was the debit machine. That waiter tracked ours down and he promptly came to the table with the machine. Issue 2, although I understand that the layout of the restaurant isn't entirely under their control. They should realize that because the washroom is in the basement, it should be heated. The washroom was colder than it was outside. Other than those two issues, it was a great experience and we will be returning if for nothing else, than the food.

During the pandemic our plans were about to be cancelled, but Mark and his great team helped us to be able to go through. Great service and even better food. The specialty bread that comes on the house is amazing. Their garden pasta special that day was very well done. I came in with a half finished icecream and our waitress offered to freeze it for me to enjoy later. There is also parking available.

Update Feb 1/19. Looks like once you post a review Google doesnt allow you to do another even if 2 years ago! Silly. We were there 2 days ago on one of the coldest nights of winter. Staff was fantastic as always and the food was amazing. We opted for the large Caprese salad which would easily feed 4 people as a starter. We also had the Bocconcini Rapieni, fried basil stuffed into a bocconcini ball then deep fried (resembling arancini) and served in a pool of tomato sauce. The salad was fresh with a zingy dressing that reminded of summer in this deep freeze. The bocconcini was melted cheesy deliciousness. The soup of the day was stracciatella. A generous portion with egg, noodles and some veg. Really good and really filling. Between the salad, bocconcini and soup, I was stuffed. Still pasta to come!!! Thankfully we ordered piccolo portions. My carbonara was house made noodles in a creamy sauce with peas, cured pork, parmesan and arrived with a poached egg on top. So rich and delicious. My dinner guest ordered the ravioli stuffed with chicken, mushroom and cashews in a tomato cream sauce. The portions are very generous and with the apps, we all took home a large portion of our pasta and we all ordered the piccolo portion. I managed to have room for a cappucino to top off an amazing dinner and my guests had the housemade cannoli and housemade blood orange gelato. Both were enjoyed and given thumbs up. I was told the cannoli was the best they had ever had! Easy to see why this restaurant has been a Hamilton fixture for 21 years!! Perfect service, homemade dishes that never miss on flavour or portion size!!! and a friendly ambience. One of my favourite Italian restaurants!!! 2017 dinner: Last minute dinner plans...great choice!! We sat in the bar area and had the best time. Friendly and knowledgeable staff were an absolute delight...we wanted for nothing. I love the menu as most of the apps and main dishes come in small and large sizes. The portions are very generous. The ceaser salad was fresh and crisp and the carbonara was served with fresh pasta and a poached egg on top which added to the richness of this pasta dish. They were out of Sicilian canolis but Chef Tony prepared some Venetian canolis for us. Chef Tony and his wife were lovely and I look for forward to a return visit soon!!

A friend and I went for the first time here not knowing what to expect. Someone had highly recommended this place and we couldn't be happier to agree with them. The decor and atmosphere made us forget about the snowy conditions outside. Our waiter was a lovely, lovely gentleman who was warm, welcoming and quite frankly, very attractive. The menu had plenty of various pastas and their wine list was impressive. Our meals came out insanely fast and tasted out of this world. We got a regular and large sized pastas and we each had leftovers for the next day. Overall, we were extremely satisfied and cannot wait to show our friends and family this lovely gem of a restaurant.

We were craving Italian food and I thought we would have to settle, but La Piazza Allegra was incredible. The food was excellent, the service was great and the prices were best reasonable. The restaurant was packed during our last visit but the wait staff was quick to get our order in and served in a good timely manner. The food is quite good with a good selection of wines and dishes. With my most recent visit the cook my have been a bit off with the salt. The entree was too salty for my liking to the point where my fingers swelled up. The restaurant is good for groups or romantic dinners.

Let me just say that i LOVE this restaurant. I come here once a week, it is that good. Their pasta is AMAZING, especially the Bazil. All the servers are extremely friendly, and the service is amazing. The food is so great, and everyone has a smile on their faces. The hostess here (who has the same name as me) Alex, she was super friendly and lead us to our table where she explained the menus. Shes quite young, but good! We had a conversation for 15 minutes about school. Defiantly recommend 100%! My new favourite..

Staff brought plain foccacia for the children with our group without being asked as the house bread had chili flakes, and happily offered to adjust pasta dishes to suit other diners requests. Everything was wonderful and seemed to be made in house from whole ingredients.

Ordered: Carbonara Pasta: From out of town, looking forward to a familiar dish. Not a huge fan of all types of pasta overall, but love Carbonara. Have prepared variations of recipe myself. Accustomed to it with spaghetti or fettuccine, listed in La Piazza menu as served with fettuccine. Arrived with some lasagne resembling pasta, barely no sauce since the excessively large noodles probably soaked it up. Hard boiled egg stuck on top? I’m aware egg is in the cream sauce, but to have a hard fried egg on top of a dry lasagne noodle? Very disappointing. Where are the bacon or peas? I wish I could attach the pics. Cappelletti Pasta: Very tasty but ingredients were limited. Can you see maybe 3 fragments of spinach? “Large” Caesar salad: A joke, barely enough for one. $14.75? 6” wide foil container with romaine, some croutons and a few slices of red onion. Small container of dressing on side.... seriously? Really wish I could attach the pics. Available if anyone wishes

Great appetizers and entress, cozy atmosphere but awful service. Appetizers were portioned well, entrees were delicious. Unfortunately our server routinely forgot about our table, at one point he brought our bill, left our table and continued serving other tables/dressing up empty tables; It wasn't until a different server attended to us and grabbed the attention of our server that we were able to pay and leave.

Absolutely amazing!! Easily the top 3 pastas I have ever had, including homemade from scratch! The service was phenomenal (our waiter was very attentive without hovering, and very friendly). And what a great value--for $20 I had a pasta that would last two meals. I very highly recommend La Piazza. I know I'll be back!

This was our go to place before the pandemic understanding that menu changed. I invited my gf last year to attend this place and we ordered seafood pasta was not the best actually the mussels were very dry. We spend 200 dollars and we were not happy at all. Decided because of the pandemic I understand that perhaps things happen and they were not prepared. I went again for Christmas Eve with my children being that we used to go every Christmas. We got there at 7 I had not eaten all day and was so hungry. We ordered the charcuterie plate….awful no presentation and for the price u pay not worth it I ordered the osso bucco I have had it many times however it tasted weird and the risotto was not great my son ate it but he eats everything. The lamb was good but the pasta with Clams was nothing special. Not sure if the pandemic has put a financial strain on certain restaurant but the quality and the service has been compromised. We spend 275 dollars and we were not happy oh well This is the last time I will be going and sad because I’ve been coming for years.

This is a great place for pasta and wine on a semi casual night out. My wife and I go here often for special occasions. The food and service are always excellent with reasonable prices for a restaurant of this caliber. We also enjoy the fact that it is walking distance to some of the pubs downtown in case our night doesn't end with dinner. The dinning area is cozy so a reservation doesn't hurt on weekends.

We did dine in once when we were looking for a house to purchase in Hamilton (this was actually our first restaurant!) we have since done take out because of COVID.

Beautiful ambience and decently priced food for a "fancy" experience. The upstairs level is a dining room surrounded by glass. Nice servers and tasty food. I only gave 4 out of 5 because we made a reservation for 8:30 and didn't get seated until 8:50. But besides that wait, the food was made very promptly. Overall, a nice place for date night.

I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful dining establishment. It is a family run business that treats you like family. The Farrugia’s are very good at their craft. Chef Tony and Chef Mark are absolutely spot on in the kitchen as is the rest of their staff. The service is absolutely top shelf as well. Mama will come to your table and make sure that you are satisfied with everything. If you are lucky Chef Tony will come to your table and engage his larger than life personality. He’s even sent us home with his tasty in house baked bread to enjoy the next morning. Every dish that we have ever had has hit high marks. The Gnocchi is to absolutely die for. Please check out La Piazza Allegra and I promise that you will not be disappointed!

I left a review back in 2019 and it was a good experience then but this is now. However my recent visit to was disappointing enough that I won’t be coming back. Most importantly the restaurant was not at 50% there was no social distancing and it was packed. first problem we encountered was the menu in the restaurant is more expensive than the website?! The second issue was we sat there for 30 minutes before we were even able to place our order. The third was the food, the quality I’m sad to say was not good, we payed 16 dollars for a ceasar salad and it came with 3 croutons for 16 dollars it is not unreasonable to expect a ceasar salad with more than 3 croutons. They also offered us a second round of bread which we accepted what they failed to mention was that they would be charging us for it only one bread was included with the meal, very shifty. The carbonara also came with an egg cracked on top which was kind of strange, but I do recognize that every restaurant has their own style. Finally we sat there for an hour and half before we received our food, and there was never any kind of communication about why it was taking so long, and while I recognize that sometimes you have to wait a bit longer, an hour and a half was excessive. All in all it was a bad experience I payed 90$ for food that was very average and service that was poor.

Usually my FAVOURITE restaurant in Hamilton until Covid forced me to get take out last night. I ordered my usual, Cappiletti and a Caesar salad. Well, first the top came off of the Cappiletti as soon as I picked up the bag it was in... someone didn't even fasten the lid so there was sauce all over the bag so I asked for it to be re-packaged which they did even though I still had to handle it with kid gloves until I got home. I ordered a Large but there were only THREE Tiger shrimps in it and of course I had to re-heat it. The Caesar salad? Just a bunch of Romaine lettuce and FIVE croutons... No bacon bits, no garlic, no cheese, not even the damn salad dressing! Good thing I have these ingredients at home but $37 some odd dollars and it was worse than anything I've gotten at a food court! Never again! ????????

There are many things to like about La Piazza Allegra, unfortunately the food is not one of them. The decor is nice and on spot, the atmosphere is great, the service was amazing and genuinely friendly and I really appreciated their taste in music. The food, however, was not on par with their many good qualities. In terms of food, the appetizers turned out to be the highlight, which is unfortunate. Both mains we had were dry and seemed overcooked, the seasoning was also not on point. It's a bit sad to have an otherwise fine dining experience let down in such a fashion, but this is the case here. The one good thing I can say about the mains is that the portions were large. In terms of overall value as well it's not very good. I can certainly think of places within walking distance offering much better food for less.

I've lived in Hamilton for so long and this is the first time I've been at this restaurant. The server was super friendly and really nice. We started off with the house bread and bruschetta which were delicious. I got the chicken linguini which was homey and filling. Topped it off with lemon and raspberry gelato which was delicious! Awesome meal. The grilled calamari were excellent. My daughter had the mussels and really enjoyed them. My wife couldn't stop dipping the bread into the mussel broth that was leftover. I had the pollo parmigiana. Excellent. Couple that with some nice Chianti and an excellent meal was had by all.

The bread they bring out is so fresh and good. They have Peroni beer which is always a great addition to any menu. The wine selection is good also! I've ordered the seafood linguine both times, the first time I hadn't been diagnosed with celiac disease so I had regular pasta, and then the second with the gluten free pasta and both were delicious!

Mark catered our backyard wedding this past summer. We had a month to plan our wedding and someone recommended La Piazza Allegra. Mark responded quickly and was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. He was very accommodating, offering good suggestions and a very good price. We were blown away the day of the wedding. The food was there, hot and set up for us before everyone got to the reception. The food was no word of a lie phenominal! We got so many compliments about how good the food was, and even though we ended up having more people show up than planned, there was still lots left over. This is our favorite restaurant in Hamilton. Been going since they opened over 20 years ago. Never had a bad meal or service. Everything is top notch & service is awesome! I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it was $9 for the salad and $7 for the chicken. When it arrives the container is tiny and there’s a pinch of lettuce in it with unions and rubbery chicken on top. And not a lot. Any lettuce that was there was very warm and floppy. This was not worth the $24 after delivery as well as tip and I will never be ordering Again.

This is the BEST Italian restaurant in Hamilton, hands down. I've gone at least 6 times and everyone I've introduced to is absolutely in love. Such KIND staff!! And AMAZING bread ????.. Everything is so so yummy. Even though I don't live in Hamilton anymore, I make it a point to visit anytime I'm in the area ???????? please open up a spot in Toronto! And keep doing what you do!!

Shared a wonderful evening with friends from Sault Ste Marie. The meal, atmosphere and service was A1. My only disappointment was not being able to introduce Mark and his parents to my friends. I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you are in the area...or making a special trip to visit.

La Piazza is the best Italian restaurant in Hamilton, bar none. The food and service is always top notch. It is my wife and I's favourite restaurant in Hamilton and for this reason, we had them cater our wedding last week. Mark and his team did an unbelievable job. Our guests said it was the best food they have eaten at a wedding. The fresh to order pasta bar is such an innovative idea and left everyone satisfied. Whether you go to the restaurant or have them cater your next big event, you will not be disappointed!

I can't say enough how fantastic this restaurant is. We went for lunch while visiting at the hospital and enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner! The Carbonara is a must. The Caprese Salad is plenty to share for 2. But the highlight if my evening was the service. Fidan was the quintessential server, with manners and class and knowledge of his restaurant. I have to say, I would go back in a minute for the food, but In a second for Fidan's service.

Most food was good, service was okay. I think the server was new and he did a good job though a bit unsure of himself. However the three star comes because the mussels we ordered were rotten. I've eaten alot of mussels in my life and these were certainly rotten. They didn't charge us for said mussels which was good.

VEGAN CATERING CAPABILITIES!! I had them cater my wedding with a fully vegan menu for 40(we didn't get desserts from them) and it was amazing. Mark, the executive chef, was very helpful in tweaking the menu. He knew what would work and what wouldnt–a lot of caterers think you can just replace meat with tofu, but Mark knew better. His staff were all fantastic in their manners and abilities. I believe I should have been charged more for the quality of food and service I received.

Popped in on a slow Sunday night and felt super awkward waiting around unsure at the door for quite a few minutes before being noticed by staff. The rest of the evening went smoothly, the service was polite and friendly and checked up on us regularly even though I think he was the only one working and had a few tables to manage. Atmosphere was lovely with an intimate setting but not too fancy that you felt uncomfortable. Food was amazing and will definitely have to go back to try more dishes

Had lunch here with a friend this week. Nothing too adventurous about the menu and the execution was very good. Service was on point. The big windows looking out onto James bring a lot of light into the restaurant and make for a very pleasant atmosphere. We stayed almost two hours and didn't feel rushed. Will be returning.

Great experience and even better food. Waitress was a delight and very helpful. All was great EXCEPT for the gelato ... totally the wrong texture and taste ... tastes more like a frozen yogurt desert. Apparently gelato is home made on site but the recipe is off, and no apologies or credit offered. Everything else was perfect.

Every word in this review is the gods honest truth. I’m so sad about this restaurant which I’ve frequented for a couple of years and would make a special trip from Toronto just to go and dine until my last HORRIFIC experience has left me speechless til now. When we arrived at the restaurant and were seated it took 20 min for the server to even greet us and ask what we wanted to drink. We asked for bread to start about three times and still nothing. We asked another waiter WHO PROCEEDED TO TAKE BREAD FROM SOMEONE ELSES TABLE AND DROP IT ON OURS!!! it was half eaten! As if that wasn’t bad enough the food took over an hour to arrive and when it did my order was completely wrong. I didn’t even touch my plate. The server didn’t bother to check in on us either. Until at the end she brought the bill and I said “actually I’m not going to pay for this meal which I didn’t even eat and is the wrong Order” To which she replied “well that’s what you ordered so you have to pay for it”. I said NO. GET THE MANAGER. they reluctantly removed the item from the bill and I left without giving a tip. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE AND SO APPALLING. What a shame.

Decided to have my Eid dinner with friends here and loved it! Super fresh! Juicy and great service! The onion rings were crispy. The fries and tornadoes were hot and fresh. And the burgers were so delicious!I got the compressor which has 3 patties...and that was a GREAT CHOICE! added some beef bacon and voila... a masterpiece , indeed !

WOW!!! Fantastic. I ordered takeout and was craving Some authentic Italian pasta. Rich flavour and aldente pasta of course. Pretty decent price for the huge portion.. I would highly recommend the cappelletti pasta, and spaghetti and meat balls!!!!! I also received the food FRESH and HOT, order from uber eats.. super hot and within 30 min. Will be ordering again.

Great view with excellent customer service! Food was beautifully presented with superb timing! But unfortunately the Caesar salad was quite bland. Could of used more garlic, lemon and seasoning. I also would have liked to of seen freshly grated parmesan offered instead of the tasteless powdered form that was presented to our table. Regardless of this minor hiccup I will be coming back to this Hamilton ????, and I suggest you do as well!

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. This is the worst service I have ever received and believe will ever receive. I asked for a side pasta for my daughter that I said can come out as soon as it’s ready- it took 2 hours. Our appetizers (which were calamari and salads) took over an hour to come to our table. The food took another hour after the fact which I then was forced to pack up and leave with it as take out since my daughter was by then getting restless - I don’t know any toddler that can sit patiently at a restaurant and get no food for over 2 hours. Our server was unapologetic and completely inattentive. To make matters worse, I called the following day to explain matters to the manager (who was absent the day of my visit). I explained I’m looking for zero compensation but just wanted to make him aware of the drop in standards in his restaurant when he is not present. Instead of apologizing once, he was on the defence and came up with every excuse as to why I received the service I did, one being that we were 15 minutes late to our reservation. I explained how I work at the keg and would be upset if one of my tables left the way I had felt the previous night to which he replied that he would never be caught dead at the keg. Irrelevant. Working in the service industry for as many years as I have I know how completely unacceptable this would be at any other restaurant that knows how to properly run. Have never been so entirely disappointed with service on all levels at any other point in my life. Will not return.

I was so excited to have you open again. Ordered take out, 2 pasta dishes. Cappeletti and spaghetti and meat balls. The Cappeletti sauce was like water and curdled. Horrible. The meal cost $52.00 dollars and recieved no bread or parm cheese, which isn't really to much to ask for not wanting to dine in yet because of Covid, but support at the same time. Both dishes were not even edible. Super disappointed.
