Culantro hosted a group dinner for the social group I'm a part of. We had the best service that evening of all the restaurants we've been to so far. They prearranged tables for us in a square, allowing our whole group to talk to each other comfortably. The waitress was attentive and the food was superb. The environment was cozy and relaxed, they seemed happy to serve our group, answer any questions and the chef gave us his regards. They even prepared a birthday cake. Sometimes taking a big group to a restaurant can be hit and miss, at times the restaurant won't have the right seating, capacity or staff. However Culantro gave us a great experience, we felt like VIP! There are also some menu items I can't quite find anywhere else like the chicha morada. I have been back again with a friend, and although it was packed they accomodated us at the bar and were super friendly and offered some complimentary snacks. Will be back again!

Amazing food, so delicious I didn't have an opportunity to take a photo. Limited menu means only the best and freshest food is served. We had a taste of the stew which had the most tender bite sized bits of beef served with a sauce loaded with flavor and a tiny bit of heat. The potatoes were perfect with it. Empanadas were flaky and the beef, chicken and veggie were all different in flavor profile. I preferred the beef. Definitely would recommend supporting this authentic Peruvian restaurant and local business owner. We will be back!

Culantro is just too good. The chef is passionate about what he does and this shines through in his cooking. This certainly is not Swiss Chalet or McDonald's, the food is made fresh to order with high quality ingredients so you can't expect an immediate order if you order on site but calling ahead is fine and well worth the wait any day. On this occasion, we had the fried chicken with yucca fries and quinoa salad, as well as the shrimp ceviche. Man oh man, so tasty and fresh... Whooooo!! ????????????

Excellent service, amazing food!! The roast chicken was moist and flavourful, the empanadas were delicious, i especially liked putting their most spicy sauce on them. The quinoa salad was delightfully cool to offset the sauce. The ceviche de camarones (shrimp) were amazing! And the yucca fries!! Better than home fries! Love, love, love!!

I just tried to make a reservation for tonight, the man how answered was very unpleasant. I asked if they had any available tables, and he told me they were completely booked. I understand, so I asked if the restaurant still take walk-ins (normally, restaurants reserve a few tables for walk-ins), and he said: ' as I told you...we are completely booked, so if you want to come all the way here to be told we don't have any tables available, you are welcome.' I am not coming to this place. What a rude person. I have been working in the industry for a while, and I would never talk like that to anyone; specially someone who shows interest in your business...what a horrible first impression.

We tried Culantro today for lunch and were very impressed! If you are looking for homemade savoury comfort food this is a fantastic restaurant to try! It was our first time. We ordered lunch takeout and considering what we got, I was very impressed with how well the food travelled. We chose the Chef’s Choice and one of the 3 of us is not crazy about cilantro and we all eat gluten free (2 have allergies). Those were the only requests made and we were all pleasantly surprised. We got the Quinoa Croquettes, Seco de Cordero (lamb shank), Polo Frito (Chicken) all served with yucca and vegetables and a wonderful Vegetable rice dish. Everything was so delicious; the lamb shank fell off the bone, the chicken was probably the best savoury chicken I’ve ever had, the seasoning was perfect, the Croquettes were amazing and all the sauces that came were extremely delicious. Could we have eaten more sauce, yes, but we didn’t really need it as everything was delicious on its own. I will definitely eat here again. Loved it!

Coming from a Peruvian family, I was excited to try Culantro. Unfortunately the plates were small, overpriced, and inauthentic Peruvian. They guilted us for not having reservations, and only had a limited menu available to us because of this, which made me feel unwelcome.

Wonderful meal! We had empanadas (yum), the fried chicken (juicy and tasty), lomo saltado (Tender and spicy), fried fish (great, and delish fiery dip), and dessert empanada, juice freeze cubes, and ice cream (nice). Will order again!

Had the lamb, maybe it was just me but it was a little under-whelming in terms of flavour. However, It did fall off the bone and it was very tender. Chicken didn't particularly taste unique; a bit dry. I was hoping for a strong seasoned presence but it was a bit a lacking. Maybe we went on an off-night. Our server was great, but she kept going back to make conversation with a regular and didn't pay much attention to us. Yucca fries are now one of my favourite foods and the Inca cola is especially pleasant.

A small restaurant with no more than 10 tables, we had a reservation and I suggest you make one too as it can fill up fast. Service was amazing, and there was only 1 server working! It was busy when we arrived and we were early for our reso, even so the chef greeted us and we were set up with massive goblets of beer! They may have a small menu, but what they have is perfection. We tried some appetizers, the epinadas and Quinoa Corcquettes, and I had the lamb dish as an entree. The food was fantastic, 5 star meal and it wasn't as expensive as getting something comparable at any mediocre restaurant.

While driving through Hamilton my wife found Culantro Peruvian Cookery online. She is from Peru and misses her home countries food very much. When she called and asked about the menu the worker on the other end of the phone said they had fried chicken and 2 empanadas. When she questioned if the chicken was a Peruvian dish the server said she was being rude, and wouldn’t allow my wife to speak. This was a display of the worst customer service I’ve ever heard. Based on this we will drive the extra distance to another restaurant next time.

Sadly, I can only review based on my experience and not the food itself. Went there at 6:30 on a Wednesday with a friend after having heard many good things. We arrived to a locked door. Knocked loudly multiple times, no one answered. Peered In the window to see what looked like staff sitting at a table enjoying a meal and a few drinks. Then we tried calling; no answer. After multiple attempts to gain entry or at least acknowledgement. We left and had dinner elsewhere.

Very comfortable enivornment. Our server was Susan and she was incredible. She was polite, professional and on cue. The food was sensational. The Chef is an artist when it comes to both presentation and flavour. The salted Peruvian corn for a snack was a welcome treat and the coffee was superb. I will definitely be back.

What's Peruvian food? It's delicious! That makes Culantro an excellent choice for a dinner out. Well cooked and well balanced portions of tender meats flavorfully infused with sauces. We didn't have a single bad bite to eat here. Culantro is one of the best representations of what keeping a small consistent menu can do. Every dish was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the exotic sodas they had here. Desserts were delicious as well, although a bit more pedestrian. The restaurant itself is a bit small although it has great ambiance and decor. Service was friendly and we were checked on several times to see if things were alright. Overall I'd consider it priced well for what you get.

Incredible atmosphere, service and cuisine! I popped in on a whim today for lunch, and I am so happy that I did! Culantro is an absolute gem of a place which deserves even more patronage. Somehow Culantro has managed the tricky balance of serving passionately made, authentic Peruvian food, with creative flair. The atmosphere is so personable and friendly! I noticed that there seemed to be a lot of regulars as well. Susan was my Server, and she was great. Personable, yet professional. I also had the pleasure of meeting Chef Juan, who came out to greet me, and he even created a special Vegetarian Plate just for me! I ordered that, as well as the Vegetarian Appetizer Combo, which was a meal in itself. I will definitely be back and look forward to bringing friends and family! Thank you Culantro. ????

Overall unimpressed and dissapointed. Do not recommend. We ordered the full chicken meal, plus several sides and the portions were incredibly small. Ordered a full Side of Sweet Potato fries, literally counted them at 10 fries. Chicken was good, but no different or "peruvian" about it, tasted the same as any rotisserie chicken. The only thing 'peruvian' about our meal were the dips, which were great.

We went yesterday my husband and I around 5 pm and when we're there the guy that was at the bar, looks like a Peruvian told us very rude, everything is reserved, it was very uncomfortable because he told us in bad forms, and was curious that a table behind us was empty and didn't have the sign reserved. I put 1 star because i can't put 0, but we aren't going there anymore. Thank you.

Always a great meal. We had the chicken , lamb shank and fish. I would highly reccomend this place for the food. The new waitress was not good and definitely inexperienced and not familiar with much of the menu. They also need more dessert options as there was only the raspberry empanadas that she told us of. The pics show differently on snapchat. Concerned that Culantro could lose customers due to her inexperience. But I will be back.

We dropped in on a Tuesday night and they usually take reservations but wasn't busy so we got a table. Our first time trying Peruvian food and the staff were very helpful. We ended up trying the Causa de Pollo, Ceviche de Camarones and Lomita. Very tasty and looking forward to going back and trying the rotisserie chicken. Service was great and price was excellent. If you want to try a little something different then I recommend Culantro.

On Thursday afternoon, I came all the way from Brampton on a bus and met up with my 6 month pregnant girlfriend there at the restaurant for 5pm after making a reservation the day before. I’ve been here before and had an amazing experience which is why I wanted to return, how ever, on this day, I asked the patron there if he could make some rice for us to accompany our meals, but my request was rejected extremely rude, and the patron told me and my girlfriend that he can not serve us today. I was left appalled and very disappointed, I’ve been going to restaurants my entire life and never have I been treated so poorly by someone in an establishment that I’m taking so much interest in. I asked if we could just get something else instead of rice and this man just mumbled I’m not going to serve you sorry, I have a reservation I have to take care of now, as he walked off on us. My girlfriend is pregnant buddy, I told him, can we just have something to eat?? And my girlfriend by this moment was disgusted with this mans attitude and wanted to leave. Worst experience at a food establishment ever!! Take your money somewhere else, I will never step foot in this mans establishment ever again.

Shrimp ceviche starter was excellent as were the empanadas. My main course of chicken was very dry. Husband's Lomo Saltado was very good but not traditional in that it was not served with rice or fries potatoes and although the taste was very good it wasn't spiced or flavored like the traditional dish. Others who had lamb said it was just ok. Desserts were amazing!

Our Thirsty Thursday girls went for supper at Culantro and we were so impressed! The meal was authentic Peruvian and delicious. The waitress explained each dish and you can tell that the owner/chef was very proud to be cooking his mother's recipes. Tuesday nights are open mike so the entertainers were great too. I will make sure to go back especially for the fried chicken and short ribs! Highly recommend!

Had the chicken dinner and it was fantastic! I don’t know how long they marinate their chicken for, but the flavour was all throughout the chicken. The yucca fries are amazing, and the service was on point! Susan was really friendly, polite, and very helpful navigating the menu (since it was our first time trying Peruvian food). This was a great find. I wish t was in a better location so they can see more people here! I recommend this place.

When you enter this establishment don't expect to find a regular small, intimate restaurant. This is the domain of a very talented chef and your focus should be his delightful creations. Every dish that comes out of his kitchen is artistically presented for you to discover its tasty texture. The quality of drinks is matching the food, Pisco sours, wine and beer to your liking. If you want a relaxing touch, come and enjoy the music on the last Fridays of the month. Otherwise be prepared for a serious and intense culinary experience that will leave you completely satisfied.

They had an issue with their online ordering system so my order didn't go through, but I definitely appreciated the owner whipping something up for me when I showed up despite the restaurant being closed. This level of customer service is unparalleled and it's more than enough to ensure I try again when I'm in the area. This is my favorite restaurant in Canada! Their Peruvian BBQ chicken with fried yucca is the best meal you will have in your life! Bonus - the chef uses locally grown organic chicken (the down size of which is that the sizes of the chicken will vary from plate to plate).

They just opened at their new location on Main. No liquor license, no printed menus but it didn't matter. The food was amazing. They did a family style dinner bringing out what ever the chef was cooking up in the back. The server was great as well. Highly recommend.

Incorrect information on this restaurants website and Google. Opening and closing times are apparently a big question mark so if you want to eat here, prepare for them to be randomly closed. On this particular occasion, they were closed at 7:50 pm on a Tuesday. Could have been closed earlier but that's when I got there so that was my experience. This was my first, and sadly the last, visit to this place so I have no idea what the food is like but I'll give the past reviews the benefit of the doubt in that it's good; just don't plan on it being open based on the hours advertised.

I booked a reservation at Culantros Peruvian Cookery this evening. I sat on their lovely private patio. The music was festive and at just the right volume to block out the sound of traffic. I was surprised that while on the patio I completely forgot it was located on the main road. It was very peaceful andd the staff was very friendly. My waiters name was JR he was very pleasant and attentive. My meal was very well prepared and tasted amazing! The flavour of the chicken were bursting through every bite. I was tempted to order another plate, however I was much to full. My bill was reasonable and I left completely satisfied iI would give Culantros 10 stars if i could! If you are considering trying this restaurant you will not be disapointed! I will most defenitly be coming back again soon!

They are always a bit rude. I went on a Friday and it was empty, but they refuse to give me a sit because they had reservation in an hour. (The place was completely empty though). Their chicken taste good

Excelente food!!! It feels like you are in a very good Restaurant in Lima. The variety of the menu and the drinks are amazing. I reccomend the "Sangria" and "empanadas" +++. People and environment are friendly. FYI: There is parking at the back of the restaurant.

Food, atmosphere, and Peruvian drinks were all excellent. The owner came to the table to tell us about different Peruvian foods and liqueurs. Also brought us a complimentry scoop of home made Peruvian ice cream for dessert. He went above and beyond , for sure. Recommend it and we will certainly go back.

Came here with a 4 course dinner coupon. Absolut stuffed and satisfied. Everything is very tasty although not very exotic, I guess Peruvian has the same taste as us. The lamb shank was truly amazing.

Fantastic service . It was my first time eating Peruvian and the staff were more than happy to explain what I wanted to know. If you want to try something a little different but not too wild this is a good place to venture out!

Food was amazing! Rotisserie chicken was tender, juicy and HUGE. Tasted like real chicken rather than the processed factory farmed chicken we normally get. For appetizers we got empanadas and ceviche. I would definitely recommend the chicken empanadas over the veggies ones, but they were both good. Ceviche was flavorful and fresh Only downside was, we had made a reservation but didn't specify that we wanted to eat inside, so we were stuck on the patio and it was a cooler evening. I wasn't aware we had to reserve indoors/outdoors or I would have dressed warmer. Definitely worth checking out! I will be coming back and trying different dishes!

I have been going to Culantro for many years and have always had a great experience. Over the past several months I have been trying to book a reservation for lunch. The first few times they were closed for lunch due to private events. I wanted to go for lunch today but was unable to make a reservation because they were closed Sunday thru Wednesday. When I called to see if they were open for lunch I was abruptly and rudely told that I needed a reservation and should have left a message. I was disappointed and told him I had been trying to get in for months. He said that was too bad and there was nothing he could do. Juan has always been wonderful and I am surprised he has such a rude employee. I wanted him to be aware of my experience today. I did not feel very welcome. Also, it does not state on google that a reservation is required. If I was a new customer I would never call back.

The food at this restaurant was delicious and enjoyed by everyone in our diners group. From the Seco de Cordero with yucca fries to the Peruvian potatoes and beef stake, it was all very tasty. The place has a great vibe and live Latin music was provided by Cassava. The service was excellent and our waiter explained all the different dishes well.

Culantro is one of the best restaurants in Hamilton! Delicious meals and sauces and exceptional empanadas! Juan is an amazing chef who puts so much care into his cooking and his customers.
