I went to eat lunch with my two kids. It was my first time there and everything was amazing! The price, the service and the food was spectacular! The two young guys who served us were very polite, attentive and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant. The kids and I will be back as we love the food.

Wow wow wow!!!! I have now been twice and both experiences were amazing. As other reviews have said, the gluten free pizza is out of this world. The only other time I have had GF pizza this good was in ITALY! I highly recommend anyone with celiac checking this place out ASAP. Great value for the price. Excellent portions with some leftovers to enjoy again the next day. We will be back time & time again!

Upon arrival the location was bustling on a Friday evening, my curiosity piqued by the reputation that preceded my experience. We were greeted by a very hospitable and accommodating gentleman and then served by yet another very sweet gentleman. I didn't catch their names but one I'd assume was part owner and the other potentially also could have been but it was his shirt that stood out, this distinct bear shirt made for great chitchat. He also was very intuitive as to our needs by witnessing his behaviours I was very aware that he didn't want to interrupt conversations but he also maintained attentiveness to ensure that our water cups were full and our meals satisfied our senses. I find it very hard to say anything negative about a company that treats their patrons so well but I did find the deserts to be a bit disappointing... the tiramisu was a lot sweeter than I'm used to and the cannoli had a strange texture to the cream filling very different than what I would consider traditional and I wasn't sure if that was an intentional approach to redefining a cannoli but it just wasn't my thing. But what redeems that was the way it was handled by staff it was immediately removed from the bill and with charm, whit and in a timely fashion we had our bill back in our hands minus the dessert that was not finished and the experience was great overall

The restaurant got pretty busy and almost full. I shared the arugula salad and the lasagna. The portion size for the lasagna is on the larger side. I think the food overall was good. The arugula salad was topped with blue cheese, which was delicious, but it felt too heavy on the salt. The lasagna on the other hand felt like it needed a little more flavour. Service was great. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and drinks.

For main course we decided to order two pizzas as two caught our eye. One was Fun Bobby which was comprised of mushroom, chunks of pancetta, black olive, tomato sauce and mozzarella. To put it simply this pizza was great, tons of flavor and we would certain order it again. recommend this place

The service here used to be really good. Now it's not so much. The past few times I have been here I have had poor service. I don't ever have the waitress come to my table after taking the initial order to ask if I would like another drink or anything the only time I ever see them is when I sit down for the initial order, and when they bring the food. I generally find a standard quality of service is to ask a patron at least once if they would like a refill on their drink especially when it has been empty for 20+ minutes. Generally it is also custom to ask someone how their meal is currently going but they stopped doing that too. It's subtleties that make the dining experience good. And these subtleties should be focused on. I love the food but would like to actually feel like I am tipping for a reason.

I really want to like this restaurant. I really do, I have now tried 3 times since they opened and always leave semi satisfied. The room is lovely and clean, service is better than average at best and the food always looks great. However I am always semi satisfied, whether it's a lack of seasoning, a seemingly random missing ingredient or just mediocre flavors. I eat and support local so it hurts to write an average at best review but I just feel like for the price a little extra consideration for perfection should be present. It can always get better.

Really stellar service. Each staff member seemed to check in on all the tables to make sure everyone was happy with their meal. The food was excellent and arrived well paced to the conversation and atmosphere. The room was clean and well set up to accommodate lots of tables without feeling crowded.

We stopped in for a late lunch while in the area and we were so glad we did. It is a unique restaurant planted on the corner with a bright and attractive interior, great hospitality and a fantastic menu. The Caro bread was absolutely delicious as was the Ricotta ravioli that was cooked to perfection and ever so tasty. The great ambience, food and service will most certainly have us visiting again real soon.

Best service I’ve experienced in years, if not ever. Went for my birthday with my girlfriend and even though Dylan was extremely busy, he went above and beyond to make sure all customers were satisfied and taken care of. The stress of this pandemic has affected everyone but Dylan handled things with incredible professionalism and made the experience that much better. Food was also beyond delicious. Will definitely be back

They are charging a teeny tiny bowl of regular plain old spaghetti with tomato sauce $18! This place is way too overpriced and not worth it at all, it is a cute atmosphere but the food is not worth the hype, will not be returning, if you are craving amazing spaghetti, go to either express, valentinos, or alfredo’s, you get 2x maybe even 3x the amount of pasta there for way cheaper!

Restaurant sent out our order by mistake to another customer and still served us the same food. Last time we dined take out was valentine's day, food was wonderful we raved about it. Today we arrived to pickup our order 15min after our scheduled pickup time, however food wasn't ready, and was told it be out in a few minutes. As we waited another customer entered the restaurant with an order in hand and was told he could pickup his order at the kitchen. The returned food made its way back to the kitchen and a minute later what looked like the same order was brought back out. Can't be for sure the same stuff came out again but it was rather peculiar. The bag and box was warm to the touch so didn't think much of it. Arrived home with our order and found food was colder than something that apparently was just cooked and without flavour. Was not even in the ball park it was the last time we dined out. Update 2021/04/04 Michael, I've attempted to contact you but the email you provided is invalid. My assumption is a typo in "restaurant" which I also corrected and reached out too March 27th. I've yet to receive a response.

Such a cute place, been here twice already and have had only positive experiences. -Staff is very friendly and attentive. Very polite and service is quick. Frequently topping up waters and making sure we had what we needed. Answered any questions and provided recommendations. -Nice selection of cocktails which are strong but tasty with unique flavour combinations. -Food was delightful. I saw a lot of negative reviews mentioning “lack of flavour” but I argue otherwise. The mushroom pizza was especially delicious with a nice aroma from the truffle butter. The food tastes very fresh. I rather have tasty food with subtle flavours than frozen foods packed with sodium at other establishments. The menu offers a unique selection, is a bit on the pricier side but is worth it for the quality. -Atmosphere is very cozy. The place is clean, bright and cute. I like the minimalist decor. Overall it’s a really cool place with great food, good drinks, nice vibes and friendly staff. We’ll definitely be back to try more! :)

The food is to die for. Got the palenta fries, shrimp spaghetti and the duck pizza and I loved it all. The fries comes with 3 sauces that are all amazing, the shrimp spaghetti is so tasteful and creamy you will leave no leftovers, and the duck pizza is so tasty and the toppings are spot on. Will definitely be going back

Can't say enough great things about Caro. We discovered this gem pre-pandemic and we were intrigued to eat on the patio since it was always full of people. The "nutella" waffles were super light and fluffy and a portion big enough to feed two. Omelette with pancetta was simply amazing.The cocktail/drink menu pre-pandemic is unique and I look forward to indulging once again in the future. Post-pandemic, we have eaten Caro takeout and have been consistently pleased. Caro is our favourite pizza in the entire city. What makes it so good? First and foremost, their crust is wood fired which gives it a wonderful taste. We usually order the larger Family Pepperoni which is great value around $20. Lots of pepperoni, awesome cheese, perfect amount of sauce. There is an ever so slight hint of sweet on the crust which makes this pizza magical. The staff is very accommodating and I will often order an additional pepperoni, mushroom and green olive custom pizza which is my weakness. I wish there were additional unique items on the menu (ie higher end pasta dishes, larger selection of speciality pizzas) but I am happy to drive 20-30 minutes to get our pizza from Caro.

Very disappointed, pizza was not as good as expected as overcooked. As well, even more disappointed that no kids menu existed what so ever for a pizza place. Pretty easy to make smaller simple cheese or pepperoni pizzas with dough, at a lower cost than an adult sized meal pizza. If I’m going to over pay for pizza it should make you want to go back, this place did not.

Will admit we were a bit disappointed in the takeout size of our Gnudi - not very filling and not as much as we had anticipated - would've ordered differently had we known that the food didn't even fill the bottom of the takeout box. Great food, great service. Music was hip hop and the owner says that is the theme they are going with. I am in my 60’s as were other patrons and don’t like hip hop music especially during dinner. I asked him to change the music as it was so annoying and he is staying with his hip hop theme. Listen to your customers or you won’t have any. Good luck. I will not be back. You serving staff is wonderful and your food great! Ambience is just as important buddy.

Quite good. It is a nice room with interesting views. A fairly professional approach to a restaurant with good service and decent food. The pasta dishes are better than the pizza. We had dinner - there were enough of us to order a variety of items. I would recommend this restaurant for sure. Hopefully they can bring the food up one more notch.

REALLY enjoyed the Omar pizza - literally one of the best I’ve had in a loooong time. The duck confit pizza was also a close second. The crust and everything on these pizza was phenomenal. The vegan pizza was pretty disappointing and would skip on that one. Also unfortunate that the patio is on such a busy street corner because we mostly had to listen to trucks and motorcycles the whole time we ate.

Our guests were so impressed by the food (particularly the home fries!) and service from Rob, Caitlynn, Kaleigh and the rest of the staff! The food was good but way way way too salty. My friend and I ordered two different dishes and both of us were turned off because of the extreme taste of salt. I cook with salt and I can only think of one other restaurant experience were the salt taste was overwhelming and this is the second. Neither of us will go again because of the overwhelming salt.

My spouse and I visited the Caro on Ottawa st. this afternoon around 3:45pm after a 4 hour walk around the royal botanical gardens. It was hot and we were exhausted and hungry. We ordered from the dinner menu. Started with an appetizer, Caro bread…delicious! A bit on the pricey side at $12 for the very small portion but it was delicious. The restaurant missed the mark with the extremely limited non-alcoholic beverage options. We ordered the Just Peachy mocktails (really tasty) however, please add more none alcoholic beverages to your drink menu…for those of us who don’t drink or are driving, 2 mocktails (to choose between) and Hamilton’s finest tap just doesn’t cut it. ;) For our main course, we split the carnivore pizza and a mushroom pizza and both were delicious. Ask for your pizza “we’ll done” you won’t be disappointed! Dylan was our server and he was polite and personable. We felt well taken care of from start to finish, even though he was busy with other customers. He topped off our waters a few times and checked on us several times from the moment we arrived to a warm and cheerful goodbye when we left. Very genuine. We value service and quality of food (value for your money? we spent $71 with taxes and tip included).

Wonderful staff and delicious dishes. Highly recommend the Gnudi - it was rich but not overwhelmingly so. Excellent balance. Oh, and the coffee! Share a large french press with friends and enjoy some conversation. The door let's in a lot of cold air so keep in mind you may need to keep your jacket on if you're near the door.

It was our groups first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, staff were great and the food was great! Only disappointment was the meatball starters. There is no warning on the menu or by staff that the meatballs are SPICY, and I MEAN BEYOND SPICY!! We are a group that LOVES spicy food and the meatballs were almost inedible... not sure if someone accidentally dropped a box of pepper in them...but we were a bit confused about why they were SO spicy with no warning. Other than that, everything was great!

Went for the first time for a Sunday brunch; did not anticipate how busy it was, which is wonderful for a new restaurant and a good sign. I was told a half-hour wait which I didn't mind, but noticed newer customers without a reservation were getting seated with the same amount of people by a different server while I was ignored. Otherwise, while seated the service was excellent and the food was superb. Decent prices and delicious taste.

Absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is wonderful. I would recommend this place for a quiet date night. We paid $90 for 2 appetizers, 2 meals, 2 rye&coke, and one mock-tail. Well worth the money! Portions are generous.

Food was delicious and filling. I had a sandwich and the bread was awesome. I really liked the location, bright windows and the way it looked. Felt cozy and comfortable on a very dreary day. While cozy, it is still spacious. We had lots of space 6 adults and a baby (they had high chairs) and didn't feel like we were in the way of other diners or each other.

The food and service were fine, but there was an odd odor permeating throughout the entire inside of the restaurant which ruined my experience. We were here on a Sunday evening. The service was a bit on the slow side, although staff were friendly. Food was priced fairly reasonably. I quite enjoyed the calamari as an appetizer but the carbonara was a bit on the dry side, without enough cream to coat the entirety of the pasta. It tasted a bit more bitter than I would have liked. Serving sizes were large. The major problem we experienced was the smell throughout the restaurant, which was very clean. It was a whiff of rotting garbage which and the bathroom smelled especially vile. I'm not sure if they had some drainage problem but hopefully they'll fix the situation soon.

I ordered the mushroom pizza and it was decent. The truffle aroma of the truffle butter was a little muted in my opinion. The pizza was a bit oily (but overall acceptable). However, i found the cheese sooo salty to the point where the second slice became off-putting. The amount of ingredients are generous and I honestly think if it was not so salty it would taste a lot better. There was arugula and pickled onions as toppings as well... I thought the pickled onions were an interesting addition, although i would prefer a caramelized onion since the pickly-sour taste is a distraction from the truffle fragrance.

Enjoyable place to meet up with friends. Airy and spacious but be prepared for wait. Polenta fries delicious. Paperdelle with mushrooms was enjoyable but could use a bit more salt and perhaps something to bring out the mushroom flavour. Friendly staff. Parking was no problem.

I've been to the one on James before, and the steakhouse by the same owner (Victoria's) multiple times. Continue to be amazed by the food! This time, we got the prix-fixe, with a starter salad (arugula with walnuts), my usual old fashioned made with the jolly cut syrup, the omar pizza for the entree, and a gelato for dessert. As always, food was startlingly amazing in both flavour and presentation. The cocktail was immaculate. My only complaint on this particular visit was how long it took for our order to come out. The cocktail and starter salads were there instantly... but the entree came a good 20 minutes after i had finished my starter. Not a big deal, ... but I've been pampered by the other great restaurants by the same owner i guess :)

Went to caros for the first time this afternoon and I am SO impressed. One of the best restuarant experiences I've had.The environment was warm and welcoming, with comfy seating and lots of greenery. Love this place! We have been many times before lockdown, to both the Ottawa and James street location and every experience has been amazing. Great food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Ordered take out last night, which was also amazing. The Omar pizza is to die for!

I actually didn’t know this place was quite a hot spot! And I used to fancy myself a scenester before having babies...anyway I walked to Ottawa Street around 6pm on a Saturday and it was already really busy. I sat at the bar solo to eat and every person who worked there made sure I was taken care of and well attended to. I got the gnocchi poutine, which was unbelievable and also the ravioli, which was spicier than I’d anticipated, but still good! I did not love the tiramisu however, and I LOVE tiramisu. It was crunchy, which was their mistake, and overly sweet and I just couldn’t eat it. They apologized for the crunchiness and took it off my bill without my even asking. I was so happy that I liked this place because I’m super snobby especially about Italian food (and sushi but that’s another story!) — I’ve been hoping for a Terroni replacement ever since I left Toronto and maybe I’ve found it? I look forward to more gnocchi poutine and trying the carbonara or papardelle!

A great addition to the restaurant scene in Hamilton. Creative homages to Hamilton's restaurant history with an upscale twist. Super welcoming environment, great for something like this to pop up in the Ottawa St area. We had the shrimp and spaghetti, and the Omar pizza. Both were incredible, well portioned, and super fresh. They make a mean martini, too. Will definitely come back!

Excellent service from Rob and I enjoyed every last bite! I had the Garganelli Carbonara and the House Made Cannoli. Rob paired my wine perfectly; everything was amazing. I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu. I dont know what others are talking about with the bland flavors..... I thought everything was perfect and wouldn't change a thing about it! The presentation was lovely, which is always nice to see! Compliments to the chef! This is a great addition to Ottawa St. The view is perfect with the wrap-around windows; I couldnt ask for a better experience all-around. Highly recommended! P.S. I was so excited to eat, I forgot to take a picture of my main course. LOL, next time.

One of my favourite restaurants in Hamilton. So happy that they opened up a new location as well. My fav is the gnudi with roasted red peppers! they haven't had that in the menu for a while, but hoping it will come back soon ;) Close second is the Carbonara so good! The Caro bread is divine too! We got the Valentine's Day meal a while back and it was so good! My husband and I were so impressed that it was still so warm when we brought it home.

Took an incorrect exit and as I was trying to get back to the right direction, we stopped by a nursery to pick up some plants when we noticed this snug restaurant on the corner of the intersection. I abandoned my original plan on going to another restaurant and we went in to Caro. Warm welcome and cordial service. Checked the menu and we were told it's a brunch menu - I told the lady waiting our table that we were hoping for a complete lunch menu and that we'll visit another time, but she asked me to hold on and give her what I wanted off the regular menu. We ordered Caprese salad, couple of tomato and basil soup, gnudi, Tuscan rigatoni and the mushroom pasta with honey crust (plus an affogato). The food was amazing with the stand out being the Gnudi. We literally cleaned up the plate of any remnants of the truffle mushroom cream sauce. We were a group of 3 and we totally enjoyed the experience. If you haven't heardy praises of the Gnudi, here it is again - I'm willing to drive from Mississauga to Ottawa St, Hamilton, just to eat another plate of it!!! Highly recommend a visit and I'm planning a revisit very soon to try other items along with another plate of Gnudi!!!

We ordered the pappardelle, spaghetti and nodini for a lockdown birthday dinner. Everything was overcooked (overcooked noodles are so disappointing to eat), and everything lacked flavour and salt. The nodini were dry and overly firm. Caro came highly recommended so I'm not sure if it was an off night as I know businesses are struggling right now. Willing to give it another chance but definitely a disappointing birthday dinner.

Went to this restaurant with a group of 4. Started out pretty great. Apps were great. Drinks on the menu were okay. I ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle. Overall it was descent but you can’t taste the short ribs at all. Such a small amount and its hidden in the meal. Rest of the table enjoyed their meal greatly. But at the end we received our bill and we were charged for bread that the waiter brought to the table. We didn’t order any and he simply stated he will bring us out some bread to start. If your going to bring something to the table that wasn’t ordered please don’t charge for it. It’s not about the few dollars it cost, it’s the Principle of it. Left a really sour taste to finish the meal

We did get reserve table . We thank thee. Waitress was not happy when I asked for clean utensils. She helped my husband out with his fancy coffee maker. Spaghetti was sticky and stuck together. My partner and I had gone to Caro in January before Covid 19 and absolutely LOVED it. It was the best pasta & pizza we had in a while and the cocktails were delicious. We decided to come back yesterday and brought some friends to show them how great the food was and unfortunately we were all very disappointed. The quality of the food was awful this time. Our friends couldn’t even finish their pizza and had the entire thing brought back. It tasted like frozen food. The pizza was awful... we ordered a margarita and our friends ordered the bbq chicken pizza and both were BAD. The pasta was mediocre but the difference in quality from now since January is awful. I understand businesses are struggling right now but we won’t be back. We felt bad bringing our friends because we hyped it up for them and they could barely finish their food. The drinks were also not great either. The only good thing we had to say was the service was great and our server was very kind and did not charge our friends for their pizza. It sucks because we loved this place before but the quality of food has gone down hill and we’ll go elsewhere for Italian food and specialty cocktails. Sorry Caro :(

WOW! You've gotta have brunch at Caro. My friends and I went for the first time today and we're very, very satisfied and impressed. I had the eggs benedict with blood orange hollandaise and porchetta. It was so delicious! I tried a bite of the sausage and tomatoes, and it was really tasty as well. The staff was very cool, and the decor is modern and interesting (in a good way!) Would eat here again for sure.

Wow great lunch! They accommodated us by preparing a special sandwich not on the menu for my mother in law. She said it was delicious. I ordered the lunch special, soup/salad, pizza, and dessert for 17$! I’m picky, but this place has the best gluten free pizza crust Ive ever had! Edited to add: cannoli was very tasty and not too sweet.

Tried Caro for the first time, there was a group of 4, went around 7 on a Friday. The menu was great, wide selection of appetizers, pizza and pasta. Solid drink menu with a couple beers on tap. The service was perfect and the cadence of the evening was spot on. Lots of things we want to try on the menu, so we will be back.

The best restaurant experience I have had in a long time! I believe our server was Dylan. Though it was very busy and seemed like he was the only server working, he made sure we were well taken care of and everything was to our satisfaction. 3 stars - my fiance and I got takeout this evening. We picked our order up on time (a quick 15 minute span from call to pickup) and we live a mere 1 minute drive from Caro. The parm fries were cold and stale in texture - neither of us ended up finishing them. We also ordered the mushroom pizza, which had good flavor (but came up short of the WOW factor). Additionally, we got two cannolis - which were average at best. The total was $42 for the meal. We feel a bit shocked at how good the reviews are considering the food we tried this evening, but we think we'll try their pastas next (or are open to suggestions!) to give a well rounded chance to this local eatery.

The food quality and presentation was amazing and artful, you can really see the pride the kitchen staff takes in their work. The flavours were amazing, simple and classic yet very unique, with very generous portion sizing. Caprese salad was artfully prepared, with classic flavours done elegantly. Polenta fries were crispy and served with an array of sauces to keep your palette on its toes. Pizza was crisp, not over done. Perfectly sauced and topped with unique but cohesive ingredients. Chicken parm was classic but modern, crispy, with a lovely aromatic sauce. Canollis were fresh, a crispy shell with beautiful very lightly sweetened filling. Tirramisu was light and loaded with flavour. The price point to quality is an extremely great deal! 3 courses for 2 people under $100 with tax and tip! Lovely, modern, cozy.

While the pizza was good, the service time was terrible! Pizza took 1 hour. The pasta dishes was supposed to be ready 40 minutes after that! Did not have the time to wait that long for our food! Never have I waited so long for food without being told they are busy and the times to eat will be 2 hours. The waitress that helped us apologized and was nice. I believe it was the manager that also offered to make the dishes takeout. We saw many takeout orders go out and a couple other tables get food.

Lasagna was delicious! The beef was very tender and flavourful. The portion was also decent. The Gnudi pasta was extremely salty however. The pasta on its own was what was very salty, not the sauce/toppings. My boyfriend really liked the ravioli. Overall I'd go back to get the lasagna again but wouldn't recommend the other two dishes personally.

Great new addition to Ottawa Street! They've done a great job with the decor. They don't take lunch reservations so we ensured to arrive shortly after opening. They have a great lunch special being offered but not available to tables greater than 8. After some convincing, they were kind enough to offer it to our group of 12. Thankfully so because the group raved about the butternut squash soup and the kale caeser salad. The spaghetti was a generous portion, cooked perfectly al dente. Both the raspberry and mango gelato were amazing. Overall, great dining experience but the only downfall was the long wait time as they only had two waitstaff to serve the packed restaurant. Definitely will be back to try more of their pastas!

They somehow managed to perfect this for an automatic towel dispenser and it has put a smile on my face... Sat inside as the weather was off and on rain. Visited Wednesday August 26. Had the polenta fries and carnivore pizza. As well as a latte. I also tried the gelato, milk chocolate and strawberry flavour. The chocolate tasted the best and the strawberry more like a sorbet rather then gelato. My friend ordered the vegan pizza and the arugula salad. Everything tasted great. the pizza is best eaten fresh as it was greasy and didn't reheat well the next day. Definitely will be back again. Make sure you know what you want or access to Internet on your cell as no paper menu given.

Update: As my first experience as noted below, was not the most pleasurable, I thank Caro for the opportunity to return and experience it for a more enjoyable one. The great hype was not what I imagined. After all I have heard I expected better, frankly. Two tables in use on patio and service was non existent long periods of no staff to ask assistance. The food was standard nothing to brag home about. The best part for me was the salad. The chicken parmesan was just ok not amazing. I am glad I again was able to support local but not my cup of tea, unfortunately. But not all places leave us all with the same expectations and impressions. 2nd visit we took our Pizzas to go. I ordered and paid for before hand and picked up at a set time. It was very easy to pick up, I waited 1 min and it was ready. Warm! We chose The Omar, which was by far, the most delish pizza they have. I highly recommend and was thankful to try and support.

I haven't been to this area of Hamilton in awhile so it was a pleasant surprise to find Caro here. Great place for a brunch or cup of coffee. They serve brunch and lunch dishes. The short rib pasta was very tasty and well done. I got the grilled cheese which I wasn't really impressed with. It didn't taste bad it was just plain and somewhat basic. I could have made the same sandwich easily (and probably better) at home. But again, the short rib was fantastic, gelato was nice, and the atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday brunch. I would go again and try another dish.

The food is great but the service is TERRIBLE!!! I will rate the food for 5 star but maybe minus 5 star for the service. There were 3 girls in store when we were there. The tallest girl was helping us. I felt I was not welcomed by her. I ordered a cappocino, she brought me an USED spoon covered by coffee powder. I asked her and showed her, she took it without any apology. After the food came, she never stopped once to our table and asked about the food and anything we might want to add. During the time we stayed,there were two ladies left because no service. I understand during covid, we need to handle more than usual. but it should be an excuse for not doing the job well. For the food quality, I think you should equip better service, at least someone polite to say " sorry and thank you". It took us an hour from GTA to your restaurant. The driving time and distance don't stop us for revisit because the food is really good, but the service is not available there.

If you are walking on Ottawa street and you want some really good Italian food, I would totally recommend Caro, I had the porchetta eggs Benny with a blood orange hollandaise sauce and man was it ever delicious and for dessert I had their house made cannolis and I was comfortably full. The staff was awesome they knew when to show up at your table and they didn't hover.

Stopped off for lunch at the Ottawa location as we had been here a couple of years before and wanted to see if it was still as good as we remember - both the meal and the service were excellent. This is not a huge restaurant but well worth going to. Staff are friendly, the menu is very unique and the food is excellent. My wife and I shared foccacia fried calamari which on it's own was delicious. But it was served on a tomato sauce with was just as good. Also there was a fantastic roasted garlic aoli. The calamari was very tender. For main course we decided to order two pizzas as two caught our eye. One was Fun Bobby which was comprised of mushroom, chunks of pancetta, black olive, tomato sauce and mozzarella. To put it simply this pizza was great, tons of flavor and we would certain order it again. The other pizza we order was Duck Confit - apple butter barbeque duck, chunks of pancetta, caramelized onion and mozzarella finished with balsamic reduction drizzle. This one was equally as good as the other. For dessert we shared the tiramisu which was delicious and not heavy. My wife really raved about the ladyfingers. Along with the main course we had a Tombacco Biferno Rosso Riserva 2015. Excellent wine for the price which went great with the Fun Bobby - was also great for sipping after. Dylan, our server, was friendly and just attentive enough that we never sat waiting for anything. One thing that struck both of us was the variety of items on the menu. And it isn't the same old ingredients we see repeated at so many other restaurants. Since we now live closer I think we'll be coming here more often.

An over all amazing experience! The service was excellent - friendly and quick. The food quality and presentation was amazing and artful, you can really see the pride the kitchen staff takes in their work. The flavours were amazing, simple and classic yet very unique, with very generous portion sizing. Caprese salad was artfully prepared, with classic flavours done elegantly. Polenta fries were crispy and served with an array of sauces to keep your palette on its toes. Pizza was crisp, not over done. Perfectly sauced and topped with unique but cohesive ingredients. Chicken parm was classic but modern, crispy, with a lovely aromatic sauce. Canollis were fresh, a crispy shell with beautiful very lightly sweetened filling. Tirramisu was light and loaded with flavour. The price point to quality is an extremely great deal! 3 courses for 2 people under $100 with tax and tip! Lovely, modern, cozy.

This review is long over due. I have been to this place twice and the food is excellent!! Not to mention the great selection of cocktails offered. If you're looking for a trendy spot to bring some friends take them here! The portions aren't very big so don't be surprised, but in my opinion it's the quality of the food and the freshness that makes me love this place. You know that your food is made to order. Highly recommend the seafood pasta! It was absolutely delicious!

Some friends of ours recommended this place and honestly the exterior does not to justice to just how gorgeous it is on the inside. I wish I could’ve gotten photos of that too but I was taken back by the beauty and ambiance of this restaurant. They have a very simple menu. We ordered the ‘gnudi poutine’ from the appetizer section, a ‘Just Peachy mocktail’ and for entrées I ordered the ‘Caro Lasagna’ and my hubby ordered the ‘Garganelli Carbonara’. The carbonara was a tad salty and the beef inside the lasagna was a little dry. Overall though, we had a great time, great staff and great food. Highly recommend especially if you’re into trying something new and amazing, are looking for a new go-to date night spot or you’re an adventurous foodie that hasn’t tried this place yet.

Caro's bright and fresh interior is trendy and fun, a great place to meet. The staff are amazingly friendly and even if it is busy, like all good restaurants IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! (Their gluten free pizza is the best ever. I'm not gluten free but I bring Celiac friends here. Delish.) The last time I went the manager even worked with one of the patrons fussy babies on her hip so the mom could enjoy lunch with a friend. During Covid-19 these guys are totally supporting community and staff, and keeping us going with awesome take out. Great job Caro! Looking forward to coming again soon!!

I've been here twice, second time was just today and I have to say, it's incredible. We ordered a Carnivore personal pizza, Gnudi pasta and Caprese salad. First of all the service was impeccable. The server offered me to taste the beer because I was quite unsure. He allowed me to make a change to the carnivore pizza sauce (switched from tomato, to the Carolina BBQ sauce). Second, the building was beautiful and finely renovated. It had a great atmosphere and was quite cozy in an intimate modern sort of way, with a live vertical garden. Now onto the food: The carnivore personal pizza was perfectly cooked and what I believed to be a fire roasted pizza but don't quote me on that. It had a LOT of wondrous toppings including pancetta and porchetta, which was mouth watering. As well as a beautiful honey glaze on the crust which made it such a glorious experience. The Gnudi pasta was again, perfectly cooked and homemade. It had a beautifully thick truffle cream sauce and a zesty gremolata, to add a wonderful balance (which I dipped my crust into). The Caprese salad had a wonderfully sweet reduced balsamic vinaigrette. The freshness of the tomato, basal and cheese tasted like summer in my mouth. Although I did ask for extra freshly torn basal, it was all incredible. All in all, I had an excellent experience among the great atmosphere, service and food. It was wheel chair accessible but I had to pay for parking. (Parking was only 50¢/hour though so not a big deal) and the price was great, especially for what we got. Would recommend to anybody

Caro always impresses! Excellent food, helpful wait staff, exciting menu, lovely decor, and superior cappuccinos. The polenta fries are great, with tasty sauces: highly recommended. We tried the secret menu item: a delicious and fun BBQ chicken pizza in homage to the previous restaurant at that location. That pizza crust is one of my favorites in the city. You must visit Caro!

What a place! In a beautiful space located at the corner of Main and Ottawa Street. The space is bright, with big windows and greenery. The staff really doesn’t get any friendlier than this. The bartenders are super knowledgeable. Ask about Jolly Cut— one of the bartenders makes and sells a mix that makes the most perfect old fashioned you have ever tasted. They use it there and sell it to take home as well. I have always left Caro very satisfied. The food is consistent and delicious. The owner is an amazing family man who treats his staff like gold. A great place to support!

My colleagues and I came for lunch and left, happy, full and content. The service was amazing. For most of us it was our first experience at this restaurant. The set lunch menu was full of variety and the portions are nothing to complain about. I raved about my lunch to friends in the evening who also spoke very highly about their experience. Both parties recommend the gelato. I much prefer the fruit flavoured ones... Mango to be exact. What a quaint little plane full of character. My only ). Overall this was such a great experience for a foodie like myself. I hope to visit again soon. suggestion is for a little more salt (as both salt and pepper were not accessible on our table. Overall it was an amazing experience and I hope to go back soon.

Awesome restaurant! Cocktails are excellent and very fairly priced - great selection of liquor. Nothing fancy on wines, but a nice variety that won't kill your wallet. Food was phenomenal - Caro bread is a must as a starter. Had the lasagna, my girlfriend had a pizza - both were delicious. Mood is cool and relaxed. Relatively small space - wish they took reservations for at least some tables, but that is only a small inconvenience. 10/10 would recommend.

If I could give more stars I would. Amazing restaurant. Fantastic Staff. They actually ask and listen to your food experience, good or bad. This shows that they value customer feedback and attempt to make revisions where possible. The food is home-made quality and delicious. The prices are amazing for the delicious quality of food you get. Living in Burlington, I come to Hamilton for this place, as it is often my first choice when looking for good quality, fresh food with a fantastic vibe. You MUST try the Tuscan Rigatoni, but Brunch is where it's at with the Sicilian Sunrise. Yum!!!!

The food was the absolute best I've had since I can remember. I had the polenta sticks, chicken parmesan, and tiramisu. The portions were generous and the food I brought home tasted just as amazing the next day. I can still close my eyes and taste it. I live in KW and it was worth the drive to Hamilton. I will make the drive again, for sure. The service team were a blast. We actually had a team member help us who was so in the ball we swore she was psychic! It's probably been a long time since you've been out for dinner. Do yourself a favor and get to Caro for the best meal of your life. In fact, call me and I'll come with you!!!! I can't recommend this place highly enough. Just go.

A group of 8 of us went to Caro's for dinner. St first when I arrived at the location I was not impressed. It was quite small and we had a 45 minute wait. However I have to say that it was worth the wait. I had the fried calamari which was good. However my main course, the seafood linguine was absolutely delicious. The seafood was tasty and the sauce was very light and delicious. The pasta melted in your mouth. I would definitely go again. The service was excellent.

Loved it. Our go to spot for a nice sit down date night. Not overly fancy atmosphere but not cheap either. Great spot to have a classed up pizza and or pasta date night. (Wine and cocktails optional) Duck confit pizza is something delicious and different to try. The carbonara pasta is delicious too but I would highly recommend adding chicken to it as it brings it from good to great and will be plenty filling.

Our family had a super dinner here on the patio early September. The food was fresh and tasty. Portions were adequate and service was excellent. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night - always a good sign. We opted for the outside patio facing King Street since we had our grandson (age 5 with us). We had several dishes including pizza, lasagne, calamari, spaghetti and meatballs - all very good. Be prepared for street noise if you choose the patio on a Saturday night. King Street is like a drag strip for fast cars and motorcycles! The noise can be almost deafening so be prepared. Great entertainment! We would come back again but maybe reserve a table inside!

We ordered a couple appetizers and Marlon recommenced the Pizza, all of the food was absolutely amazing. In fact, it was so good I ordered a large pizza to take home. Another positive note, this place goes above and beyond to do everything right in regards to keeping its customers safe durning Covid. This cute restaurant has a large patio and a fresh menu of favourites. The staff is incredibly kind and being very diligent about their sanitation practices during service. I had lunch with a friend on the patio and we felt very safe. The pizzas are fabulous, I got the Veganator and it was delicious! Highly recommend hitting this patio for lunch while the weather is good.

The food is amazing, the Garganelli Carbonara was so incredibly good. I have been here with both a large group and a 3-person occasion. The staff was extremely accommodating. While they don't take reservations, they they recommended we call 20 minutes in advance and they'd give us an estimate and take our name for the next appropriate table that became available. This was extremely helpful, and when we showed up early they offered us a patio seat and served us drinks while we waited.

Just ordered from uber eats. Everything in my opinion was just okay. Disappointing that the braised short rib lasagne did not have any ricotta in it as advertised. Honestly would not have gotten it if I knew. The spaghetti was good in the chicken parm but chicken does not have much flavour to me.
