Visited Keg with family over the weekend. They're service was very good and food quality excellent. There was some time delay between our appitizers and our main dishes but it was not too terribly long. Though inside we had no windows the lighting was adequate and gave a good vibe. Overall, a very good place for informal and formal meetings over a meal.

I went here on Saturday night, it was quite busy, so I'd always suggest having a reservation. I ordered bacon wrapped scallops to start, they were awesome!!! As a main I had the steak and lobster tails with Ceaser salad. The steak was overcooked, even for my "medium-well" preference. One lobster tail was delicious, the other was sadly over cooked so it was chewy and stringy. The ceaser salad was virtually tasteless. The keg size White Russian was great!!! I'd love to say we had great service, but unfortunately that was not the case this night. We asked for a side of onions and mushrooms after we had already placed the order and we felt like we inconvenienced the server. It was hard to track him down when we wanted drink refills. We've been there before and have excellent service and food, hoping this was just an off night. We would eat there again.

Me and my husband went there twice.I am a vegetarian and so whenever we go , we order a vegetarian and a nonveg dish. First time i ordered a mushroom burger and it was fine.Second time , I ordered a cauliflower steak and it was the worst food i ever had ... I expected the minimum when i order a vegetarian dish from steakhouse , but this was worser than that .. ! It was just a raw cauliflower not cooked or not even grilled properly , and some kind of tangy sauce over it ... it smelled worse .. I could somehow manage to eat if it was atleast grilled properly.I couldn't eat this at all.It looked like a raw cauliflower put on a high heat for 1 - 2 minute and served. We informed it to our server but he didn't even apologise a word .. ! I will never go there again to pay a high price for such a bad attitude and food.

Restaurant rant: I saved and saved for my daughter and I ( and we brought her friend) to take a one night mini holiday stay over in Halifax. We chose the Keg restaurant tonight for dinner and had the worst experience ever! My 3 applies I chose for my main meal were just "okay" .. not worth it. Ava had the baby back ribs which came with fries but we substituted for brussel sprouts cooked with bacon. She had completed her ribs and dinner (with bones all going to a side plate as she ate) so I had a few bites of her leftover brussel sprouts dish. I started crunching a few times on something hard... assuming it was crispy bits of bacon I crunched a few times and felt something was wrong... I decided time to investigate.. I pulled out 4 small fragments of bone! NOT bone associated with big thick bone from ribs but small fragment size like chicken bone. I did keep one piece of this should I need to prove it. I chipped my back tooth and felt instant ache! I told the waiter and gave him the 3 of 4 bone pieces and said "I'll be sending The Keg my dentist bill". In no way was I rude or belligerent. It was more matter of fact but knowing this would be hard pressed... Keg won't pay and I new this so I was pissed knowing I now have to save for a 400+ dentist bill but did not take this out in any way, shape or form on my server. I have witnesses to this. He sent the manager over, after some time, she said this was not their liability and no claim could be made as the dinner was served with a dish that had bones so no proving where this came from! Did I mention they were small fragments? Rib bones are big and thick and these were IN the brussle sprout mix. Anyhow, I didn't argue but simply told her where they came from. She left then came back and I advised they may want to "check" that batch cause had Ava or any child choked or cut their throat or mouth then what? Not a liability... She continued at that point to be condescending to say ...twice...."I'm trying to apologize but there is nothing I can do" as if I was arguing with her! I wasn't! I even asked the girls after she left the table...."was I arguing ...?" they said not at all and tgat they recognized she was just rude. It took forever to get our bill after completing our meal ... Not even a discount! If your food is served cold or in any way, shape or form dissatifying at our restaurant we, at the very least, discount if not comp the meal. I still tipped 20% on my $176 dollar bill for 1 adult and 2 11yr olds! It wasn't the servers fault his manager was insufficient and unprofessional to say the least! Never again!

The steaks were good although one was a little more blue rare than med rare. Both twice baked potatoes at the table were burnt. Was seated in an area that seemed separate from the main area (overflow maybe). Wasn't crazy about it. Waitress was attentive and very nice. Overall though I felt this place has seen its day. For the price I'd choose a different steak house next time.

Lovely place for a treat-your-man-to-a-steak-birthday-dinner! Our server, Chris, was an absolute firecracker and was a joy to meet. We had the nachos, massive baseball steak and the 10oz prime rib cut. You know it's a good place to eat when they LAYER your nacho toppings/cheese and they get your steaks cooked to pink perfection. Top it all off, we got a towering ice cream cake slice for free for the birthday guy! Full bellies and happy hearts!

Finally got the chance to try this after hearing about it. The food was amazing definitely one of the best steakhouses I've been to, the food was delicious and also had a few drinks which were mixed really well I couldn't taste the alcohol which is a plus for me. Price was really good too and our waiter was awesome!! Will be back for sure

Good food, great service and location. We ate here with my mother in law, wife and children and had a good time. When we first sat down, a glass of water broke on our table, flooding the table and unfortunately getting my mother in law wet. The manager came, moved us to a new table, and apologized, indicating that the glass was probably warm from the dishwasher and snapped when the icewater was poured into it. Later on, we were informed that my mother in law's meal was complimentary, which while not required or asked for, was a very kind and generous gesture she appreciated. My only criticism of The Keg is that while it is good, it doesn't present a great value. There are many other great restaurants (and steak places) in Halifax that give you more bang for your buck.

It Out with a group of friends, waiting +15m for service, who then showed up and didn't seem to want to working. I get it some times you have a bad day, but. Food was good, all came out together and hot. Everyone enjoyed it. But service was very poor. Which everyone.commented on. We'll try somewhere else next time.

Jesus Christ, i came think I was gonna have a good steak. Steak was burned to a crisp and tough and had zero flavour. Fries are beyond salty and the shrimp is raw. Very disgusting food, don’t go here for a good meal.

Went to the Keg to celebrate wife’s birthday. We booked reservations and almost cancelled, we felt like the Keg wasn’t fancy enough - since after all it’s a chain restaurant. We were wrong, the layout and atmosphere of this place is awesome, it’s intimate, private music playlist was great added well to the ambiance. Ordered the seafood trio and blue cheese filet mingon- AMAZING. Fresh, hot, succulent, flavourful, cooked to perfection as Gordon Ramsay would say it was textbook. Not a single misstep. Mushroom Neptune’s were impeccable and the crime brûlée to finish was the perfect end to a great evening. Don’t down play the Keg, service here is top notch. Manager always comes to say hello before you leave.

Always an amazing experience when we go to the keg. The food is always outstanding as is the service. They've also upgraded their wait list system since the last time I visited which was amazing. There is not much space in the lobby to wait (there is always a wait on weekends so plan for that) so they now take your phone number and you can leave and go to the restruant next door or across the street for a drink, then they text you when your table is almost ready! It made the experience that much better! Can't wait for our next visit!

As an American now living in Canada, I have been looking for a good steak. Last night my wife and I found a GREAT steak. Everything from the waitress (Jessica G was awesome), to the horse radish sauce, to the blue cheese dressing on my salad, to the warm bread and butter...good grief I could go on and on. Even the manager helped me find a parking spot for my car. "You gotta eat here"

been here several times, last Sunday with my cousin to celebrate his birthday, we order m-rare NY peppercorn steak and medium rib steak with ex mushroom. steak is good with table wine, however the mushroom is not what we expected, cause what we like is a bit juicy not dry like that. our sever is very good. everything is good except the mushroom disappointed. definitely come back. KEG and Mic Mac Bar & Grill is top 2 steakhouse I always go.

Usually consistently great food. When we last went on June 1 my tenderloin (ordered rare) was really overdone. Bacon was burned black. The twice baked that came with it wasn't fresh either. Appetizers were perfect, cocktails were too, but everything that came after wasn't. Considering the price, disappointing. I was told they are training new cooks for the Dartmouth location which might explain their miss during our last visit.

Came here on 5 January with my wife and a couple friends. The service was excellent. The ambiance is great and even though there were a lot of people there it still felt intimate. The steak was perfect. The crab was tasty. A couple of the sides were a bit bland, but all in all the food was great. We'll be back.

When we walked in it seemed dark and scary, but I think they were just trying to hide the fact there was some renovations, as we walked back it was much more lively. The meal itself was so tasty. and service was great. Prices were what you expect for the Keg. I had the prime rib cooked to perfection. My wife had the Salmon which tasted fresh. We did the whole meal with 2 mains, a bottle of wine, an app, and a slice of cheesecake to share. total after taxes was 115$ just to get an idea. We would go back.

If you love steak there is no better place. The atmosphere was perfect, the staff very friendly and efficient. The waiter was very attentive and pleasant. Oh yes, the food, perfect. Appetizers were delicious, crab stuffed mushrooms for some and french onion soup for others, excellent. Steaks all around, perfection. And of course, Billy Miners Mud pie for dessert. Spent 2 1/2 hours there relaxing and enjoying great conversation with my wife and my grown childern. Thank you Keg for an enjoyable experience.

Went for a 6 year anniversary dinner with our 2 kids(2.5yr and 6months). The wait was estimated at 30-45 minutes but only ended up waiting for 10-15 minutes. Ordered 2 appetizers(scallops & bacon and Garlic Cheese toast) and 2 main course meals(keg classic Baseball Top Sirloin) and all of the food was delicious. The complimentary bread came out as if they had just removed it from the oven, the scallops & bacon were perfectly paired and the garlic cheese toast had a great herb taste mixed with the cheese. Both of the Baseball Top Sirloins were cooked medium rare and had no burnt edges and had the right amount of spices for added flavour. The steak came with sautéed mushrooms(which I gave away as I'm not a big fan of sautéed mushrooms), a roasted red pepper and some green beans, both of which were delicious. The sides chosen were French fries and they were crispy with just the right amount of salt. The server was extremely kind and patient with our daughters noises as we were trying to order and she even interacted with them individually to given them some extra attention. A few other servers in the area also stopped to see the girls and ask about them. Overall, I think this was my best experience yet at The Keg and even with the 15 minute wait(we went at 530 so we knew there would be a wait) it was definitely worth it and would highly recommend going if you get a chance.

In downtown Halifax, The Keg Steakhouse, in my opinion is the best. The atmosphere is very relaxing and cozy. In the evening, the restaurant is dimly lit, but bright enough to see clearly. I enjoyed a medium rare sirloin steak, with a caesar salad and a baked potato. The steak was amazing and cooked exactly the way I asked for. As for the rest of the meal; it was delicious. I had the brownie dessert with ice cream, which topped off a great meal. Our server was very friendly and professional, checking on us at the appropriate times. You can't go wrong with The Keg.

This is the best location I have ever been to. We came here for the holidays last year as my boyfriend loves UFC. We went here for our anniversary dinner, and the food was unbelieveable. I got salmon and it was super fresh and prepared above and beyond expectations. My boyfriend got the chicken and ribs, and couldn't stop boasting about how good it was cooked. I have been to many locations across Canada, and this one is by far the best. Service was amazing as well.

The Keg is a very lovely place to go for a special occasion. I was there for a retirement dinner with family. The waiter was very professional and friendly. He answered our questions, put up with our jokes and , yes he was quite nice. The food was excellent, I ordered the prime rib dinner. The tables are kind of semi private so you feel you are the only people in the restaurant. This restaurant is pricey but worth the cost considering the ambiance, the service, and the quality of the food. Oh, my big 70th is coming up, maybe I will choose the Keg for dinner!

Steak was perfect! Seafood and veggies were so bland. They offer garlic butter on the menu but when asked for it (was suppose to come with meal) was told they actually don't have/serve garlic butter. Nothing wrong what's so ever with the service. Just very mediocre food for the price you pay. No regrets but won't be back.

The Keg Halifax NEVER disappoints. Yes there are all kinds of new and fancy places in town but if you want to have your plate full with delicious food from their starters to their mains, this is the place to go. If I'm paying for a 20oz rib steak, done perfectly at med rare, I expect the sides to be included, not extra $. Their filet is always perfectly done, excellent flavor, never spongy or flat tasting. When we go out for dinner, we want excellent tasting food worthy of the cost and to walk out feeling we got our $$ worth. I'm all for trying new places and flavors but not if my plate has more decorations than food and the cost is ridiculous. Yes we had a $240 bill but it was worth it! Staff are fabulous too.

The Keg is an elegant steakhouse that offers very tasty combinations of steaks and seafood. As most of its other restaurants at other locations across Canada, it's a standout restaurant which makes The Keg one of the greatest franchises in all of North America. The only downsides are the slightly elevated prices and the fact that waiters and waitresses ask you so often if everything's alright that you can hardly find the time to eat your delicious meal.

The Keg was an experience and half, there is no better way to describe it, I have been to this fine establishment countless times, and they have yet to disappoint. I have nothing bad to say regarding this restaurant and the staff, superb menu and menu options, cleanliness is off the charts and service is impeccable. Grand compliments to the chef, When you go to this amazing restaurant here are some of my favorite dishes, Filet mignon with blue cheese crust, escargot, wedge salad (blue cheese dressing of course) and there creme brule. Saying this i have not had anything bad from there menu, anything would be fantastic.

Too stuffy and posh for my liking. It felt cold and uninviting, and was way too expensive for not really great quality food. I had a burger and it wasn't even a handmade patty, just one that came frozen. I'm glad we had a gift card, or it would have been a waste of money. Our waitress was lovely though! And my piña colada was heavenly.

Visit was on 30 Jan 2019 at 18:30. The restaurant had a good ambiance - well decorated, tables spaced appropriately, etc.. We we greeted and sat within seconds (had a reservation) and meal was very good from appetizer to main meal. Service was excellent. Only issue was with background music being way too loud for that setting and making it quite difficult to have a pleasant conversation at the table. Was constantly needing to repeat or ask for repeat because of noise level. People had to speak so loud to drown out music. Poor selection of music and way too loud.

First time at The Keg. Had excellent service, but the meal was just so so. I had a full rack of ribs. The meal was cooked perfectly but the portion was small. The sauce was nothing special. There was a large side of coleslaw but again no real flavour. Fries were too salty. On the whole i think the quality of food was not representative of the price. If you want to feel like a uppity and be waited on hand and foot, overpay for a meal at The Keg. Otherwise i would recomend Mic Mac Bar and Grill for a cheaper, heartier alternative.

Service, surroundings and steak was great as always. Today's vegetable was asparagus which I love. But not when its shriveled and overcooked. Very disappointing. Will know better next time. At least there were a few green beans that were properly cooked.

The steak was amazing, but the portions were small and there was basically nothing else on the plates besides the protein, and they had NO gravy/sauce options of any kind! The fish was overcooked and tasteless. No children's menu. Prices high compared to what you get. Establishment was freezing cold and we all had to keep our winter coats on during our whole stay, so it was unpleasant to eat, and we ended up hurrying to finish and didn't stay for dessert. Haven't returned, and frequent other places instead.

Just like all Keg restaurants, this is a good place to get a steak. The decor was quiet and dark with just the right amount of lighting. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Specifically, we called ahead to reserve a table that was infant friendly. They really came through on this one. They put us in a corner where the table behind us was merged into ours so that the booth behind us was a great place to put all the baby things (stroller, diaper bag, etc). Wonderful experience.

Excellent food, quality service. I don’t go out for steak very often, but going to The Keg is a real treat. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a good sized meal starting off with free bread, then you can get the keg classic which comes with a salad, mushrooms, and accompaniments along with your steak. Or if you don’t have much appetite, just go with the steak as the salad and bread can just be a meal on its own. For us, one of us got the Keg Classic and the other different, so we just shared the Caesar salad and some of the steak so that we had enough room for some dessert at the end.

Don't go here often due to parking, but we always make sure to go now and then. The food and staff are always exceptional. The waiter we had was friendly and joking with us whenever he came to check on us or take an order. We both had steaks, which were cooked exactly as asked for, I had the blue cheese crust and rice as a side. The blue cheese crust was very well balanced as blue cheese can be over powering sometimes. All and all, I would always reccomend the Keg as a nice night out, it may be a chain Restaurant but it is run with exceptional quality.
