This was my first time ever trying a seafood boil after hearing my friends rave about how delicious it is. So, perhaps my expectations were too high. There was so much sauce that I could hardly see the food itself and it was thick—like I could literally grind the granules between my teeth—and I had to add hot water to it just to thin it out enough to be somewhat palatable. The shrimp to potato and corn ratio was severely off. There were about two dozen shrimp but only 5 little slivers of potato and one piece of corn. The straw that broke the camel’s back is how salty the entire plate was. Not only was there too much sauce, it was so salty that it made the shrimp super salty. I visibly made a face as it touched my tongue. I couldn’t finish it all and after spending the amount of money I spent on this, I feel it was a waste. Uber Eats won’t refund me. They didn’t say why but I presume it’s bc taste is subjective.. but when it comes to cuisine—especially one that costs $28 a plate—I expected much better. Needless to say, I’m disappointed and will not eat at this restaurant again.

Wow! The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We set a reservation and was received immediately at the door. Once seated, we were instantly given water, the menu, and our plastic gloves. We ordered the Pirates combo for the two of us, sooooo much food! We will bring the leftovers home! Highly recommend.

Ate there for lunch recently. I had the lobster roll w/fries ....it was the worst I've ever had. The bun was not grilled (which is lobster roll 101) and the lobster had very little taste and was over -processed into a fine pulp, And contained shell in it.....this may have been a one -off experience but still fell below Maritime standards.

I went to captains boil today November 3rd. I'm not really even sure where to start. The water is in paper cups as if I was at mcdonalds or any fast food restaurant. Steamed rice came in a Styrofoam bowl, yea hot rice plus Styrofoam....intelligent. Served with a plastic spoon. The items you request for your order are boiled together in a boil bag and served in such with no tray, dish, bowl or anything to discard the shells. You get to just sit there with them all over your table...it looks just awful. The presentation of the restaurant is terrible, not the actual decorations of the restaurant but how they serve their food. NEXT: customer service. No one was asked if ice is ok with water and if i'd like a straw, because yea I have my own straw. F U if you don't. JK but seriously with the phenomenon of trying to discard less this company says F' it and makes everything a one time use, paper cups, Styrofoam bowls, boil bags, plastic utensils, plastic gloves, plastic bibs...... ANYWAYS: CS. Lurker, huge lurker. Standing beside my table silently as I try to make a decision on what to eat is not good CS. When I say I need 2 minutes don't come back 30 seconds later trying to rush me to get food and then AGAIN when paying, although no one cared to get the bill 20 minutes after we had finished eating. NEXT: Food. Taste was great, not quite spicy enough for my liking but it was good, damn good. Unfortunately the sides are expensive. 2 sides being $13 being broccoli and fries. Three of us ate there and it was $97 and change. I wouldn't mind the price if the presentation was substantially different. Bring me a pot with my food and a discarding bowl, proper utensils, plates and glasses and ill come back. Till then, unless your only sense is taste and you have literal no care about waste, I wouldn't recommend it.

The food here is superb! I strongly recommend the mussels as well as the shrimps! The owner is very courteous and my girlfriend and I have used the Captains Boil as our dinner date night location several times and will continue to do so! The captains boil sauce is delicious, and the whole experience is a blast! DO NOT WEAR WHITE as it’s a homie eat with your hands restaurant, however the atmosphere is fun, the food is fun and delicious, and I couldn’t love this place more!

Taste was good, service was terrible,dropped the bag of crab infront of us, no plates, utensils, nothing but a set of scissors, 2 plasyic gloves and 2 paper napkins to eat our meal. I understand the use of scissors, although very wierd. Why no crackers? Paper cups to drink water out of... Server sat us, dropped meal off, and did not return until after our meal, did not check up on us what so ever. We were tbere esrly friday afternoon... 5pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived, by the time we left tbere were 2 or 3 tables,but basically empty. We overheard the table behind us order fish and chips, and they brought lobster out - they called the waitress over after taking a bite of the tail, and asked what it was, that he didnt order.... someone made an expensive mistake. Its ashame that the presentation was so bad, and the servers were terrible - because the taste was good. I think we are going to look for another location, and see if its any better before writing this chain completely off. We didnt believe the server deserved a tip - we didnt leave one. We normally leave 20-25%.

Captain's souce is a jem, perfectly pairs with crawfish. However, I would like to see more local tap beers as I am not satisfied with current selection (maybe add nine locks?) Overall, good dining experience. Btw, okra is fantastic and their cajun fries are way above average!

Good food, the sauce wasn't what I was expecting but was a good surprise. You don't get much with the crawfish though. Service started good and waitress was very nice but at the end of the meal it took about 10-15 minutes to get the bill. But overall good experience.

Second time we've been here for dinner and will recommend this place if you really like seafood. Be prepared to get a little messy as utensils are not used but that's part of the fun! Staff is attentive and friendly. It's no wonder there are more of these opening.

The Mississauga location was better in terms of presentation. The corn and sausage came seperate there. The London location just had everything soaking together. Also the first table we were sitting at had a broken leg and the table almost fell on us. We requested to move and then the hostess sat another group there, my girlfriend warned them of the issue and they moved. We would much rather travel to Mississauga to eat there again then to eat at Londons location

TL;DR Good flavors, Meh value You get to pick between 3 different types of sauces. I've tried Cajun and the Captain's Boil Special Sauce (a mix of the other 2) and I will stick to Cajun as the taste is excellent. I really enjoyed the flavour on the seafood (ordered shrimps, mussels, clams) and the fried rice I ordered. Value is OK. Seafood in general is pretty expensive already, and this restaurant seems to be average in that regard. However I also ordered fried rice and the portion size was also not very filling. Overall I'll be back, but probably for special occasions.

For me this place was terrible. Bad service, food, and price. Service: Got seated fast, gave us water fast, and got us the food quickly, but never came back after that or even came to our area of the restaurant when we needed salt. Food: Fried rice filled with oil and underseasoned. The same dish at Congee Chan tastes better despite not dripping with oil. Price: Worst part. $7 for ~7 pieces of okra added into the seafood bag. 1 pound of shrimp with 7 pieces of okra and a fried rice with 15% tip was $43.

Ate here alone. Not sure who I would bring with me here. It's an, interesting, experience. Eating a meal out of a plastic bag might not appeal to everyone. I liked the shrimp and spicy Cajun sauce but the okra, cooked in the same bag was pretty far from being fully cooked. I came hoping to experience the Cajun crayfish boil I tasted in my childhood visits to relatives in Louisiana. That wish was not fulfilled but my interest was peaked enough that I plan to return, just as soon as I can find someone interested in coming with me.

I have been a customer for the last 3 months, i go to eat 2 or 3 times a week, i just love the food, Today Sept-08 i went to eat and ordered my food with 3 other friends, we made our order and everything was fine, until they brought everybody's food but mine, so i told a cook that was outside that i didn't get my food and he asked me what was it so i told him again, Cajun seafood fried rice and chicken slices captains bowl fire. he went to the kitchen, 30 minutes later i see the waitress(EMMA) i think was her name, walking with a seafood rice thru the whole restaurant and took it back to the kitchen, finally me and my friends decided to go. i waited 1 hour and never got my food, we EVEN cancelled a 100 dollar to go order we had for our family's. due to bad services. its so sad that a place that have so good food don´t have good customer service, i would say that as a cook if a customer tells me he haven't get my food ill go and make it but neither the cook or waitress care about it. Anita and Grace have always treated me so good, but today this other person just blew it up.

Overall not impressed. Food was tasty and service was very quick. However the gimmick of serving food in plastic bags does not work for me - very messy and so much unnecessary plastic. Despite the label, plastic bags are not biodegradable in this century. A one-visit experience.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Ridiculous prices for very little food. For $89.99 you will get: 1/2 piece of a corn on the cob, 2 crab legs and a small bowl of plain white rice. And to top it off, they give you the corn and crab legs in a plastic bag. You have to reach into a bag full of sauce which ends up turning everything into a mess. Yes, they give you plastic gloves but they are super large and feel like boxing gloves on your hands. I didn't enjoy one second of this meal and would advise you to stay away!

We were a large party with a reservation that was made a week previously. We were put in a separate room (which was perfect) but it was not prepared. The tables were not ready, there was no cutlery or tools for us to use during the meal, and there was only one server assigned to us. As an example, one plater of food was brought quite quickly but there were no plates or cutlery to use to eat it and it got quite cold before we were able to eat it. They need to be better organized.

Six of us went for dinner last night to the captains boil. There were only four other tables and there were two servers. The servers spent most of the time behind the bar on their phones chatting couldn’t do anything on their own. Took a half hour and finally we called a server over to order our first drink and had to call them back for every drink and to order our meal and to clear our table. They could not do anything without us asking. Even if they were training this was the worst service I have had in a very very very long time. It is not cheap and Service should be better.

if you're expecting to come here hoping that it would be open at 12:00PM like their website and voicemail say, don't waste your time. they open at their own convenience (and I wouldn't be suprised if they closed at their own convenience). we waited for more than 30 mins for the restaurant to open. they are inconsiderate of their customers' time. it's a business that doesn't know how to run a business.

The seafood tasted good, would have appreciated more if the plating was different. For the cost they could have used plates instead of plastic bags. A lot of plastic is used. This is a very unique place lol. The selection is limited, but the food is very good. HOWEVER everyone needs to know this before eating here FYI: The whole first (main) portion of the menu, you are expected to eat with your hands (via gloves) and the seafood + sides comes mixed together in plastic bags. It didn't bother me at all, but I can see why some people are turned off by this. Thank me later. If you are fine with this, I do recommend ! It was very good. Cheers

I thought I did a review before but I guess not. I went with my parents, brother, aunt, cousin and grandpa to try this place. Half of us got lobster rolls, the other half got fish and chips. Our lobster rolls were basically the lobster soup on a bun which was terrible. My father had just come from the East coast where he went on vacation and had tons of lobster rolls and they always came stuffed with lobster. Captain’s Boil on the other hand had only soup on a bun, next to no lobster chunks at all. We had to ask for cutlery to eat our meals and on top of all that, the meals all came out at different times so some of us would be stuck watching the others eat and those who got their food first would be done by the time the others got their food. It was a horrible terrible experience and we all swore we would never go back. Actually Captain’s Boil became a joke to us. My dad will show me pictures of the real lobster rolls he had on the East Coast and I’ll laugh and say he should send that to Captain’s Boil and show them what a real lobster roll looks like to which he agrees. We haven’t gone back since. I’m shocked at the good reviews but maybe they got lucky or didn’t try the soup on a bun er I mean the lobster roll.

I came here tonight for a family dinner. The food was really good, but the service was lacking. We had to keep asking for everything, such as forks for the fish and chips, straws for the kids drinks, my water, other beverages etc. Some of our food was even forgotten. Each time we needed something, we weren't always taken politely. However, the food was quite good.

This place was very disappointing. The servers were terrible. My son ordered an oyster poboy an it came on a top slice hotdog bun with 3 tiny deepfried oysters. His girlfriend got a potatoe with a rotten middle. They did give her broccoli for free to replce it but really...a rotten potatoe? Asked for a glass of water and got a paper to go cup. Will not be going back.

Kind of overrated in my opinion... I would recommend if you’re getting your order flavoured, to maybe go with just garlic butter because otherwise everything just tastes the same and you can’t tell which seafood you’re eating. Also quite a hassle to eat the crawfish, etc.

This place is different. The food is very tasty and well prepared. I'm not sure if I like going for a seafood meal (which is naturally expensive) and then eating the food with my hands. The food is cooked but is then put in a plastic bag to add sauces and seasonings. The food is served in the bags. A rice side dish (delicious) was served with plastic spoons. Pop is served in cans. Worth a try as an experience. Not someplace I'll go to frequently.

The Captain's Boil has some of the freshest seafood I have ever had in my life and very attentive staff. Their specialty is seafood tossed in their signature sauce and that you have to shell yourself (such as shrimp, crayfish, crab legs, etc.), which is a bit of a pain, but well worth it for the quality. Personally I always get the seafood fried rice which is particularly good. I would recommend going in a group of two or more to split a pound of seafood along with one or more of their side dishes

The place is at an odd location. But if you know its in London you'll find a way to get there. Went with my brother and I. I myself got the cajun medium shrimp, and he got captains boil mild muscles with sausage and potatoes. Both of ours were very good, but $6.50 for the sausage wasn't worth it. Everything else was great, service was sub par though. Our server gave us the muscles without even saying a word. Kind of odd but food was good, and filling.

A lot of booths to seat in and staff are nice and good food. One thing I disapprove is the overwhelming plastic consumption. Too much plastic is being used for food packaging and for eating. For a seafood restaurant that gets their product from the sea, you're doing a bad job protecting your food quality. Too much waste is being thrown away in just one meal just for convenience. Plastics that are being used are plastic gloves, thick plastic for packaging either for dine in and to go, a plastic bib, and paper over the table, and yes... straws. I don't really see the point of these. The gloves doesn't work that well, really thin and are easy to puncture, not good for handling seafood. Plastic packaging are the worst, why not just put the seafood on a plate for dine in and less plastic for to go? We're not here for street food alright.. A bib? really? we're not babies ok? A huge paper towel to cover tables so you wouldn't have to clean it? Seriously, do people really eat that dirty? Give people the option if they want it on their table or not. Last but not least, straws... why do people need to suck when they can just sip? Less of these means less you have to spend, less or none of these means it's not gonna dump in the sea, affect the food you serve for us, and affect the future of your business. Please do better than this, it's not too late for a change.

I would have given 5 stars but I do find the cleanliness of the washrooms unsatisfactory. For market priced seafood, the toilets, mirrors, sinks and floors should be cleaned and dusted. A bag of boiled food, with bad service on the side! Pluses: Their special sauce is tasty. Now for the bad stuff: the is very high for what it is: The cooks literally put sauce in a bag with whatever you order and boil it. If the service was great it would've 3.5, but we waited forever for our bill and there weren't any utensil options for lobster and crab. It's all about going ogre style and maximizing the use of your bib. Don't wear nice things. Also don't come hungry - you'll use all your energy breaking apart your food.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I felt that this is necessary. Customer service is absolutely disgusting. One of the staff has an AirPods on while working so it’s so hard to call his attention. The portion of the food is less than what it is advertised. Kitchen staff refused to weigh the food ordered and start raising voice to the customer, they also forgot to put the fried rice in my order. Too expensive but really terrible service.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. The food was inedible. If your only job is to make seafood, it shouldn't be rubbery, overcooked, and impossible to peel. The broccoli was so overcooked we couldn't pick it up-it fell apart! The wine was overpriced-they charged for good wine and served swill. (As a counterpoint, the other restaurant we went to after leaving this one without eating, had good wine for the same price). The service was terrible. When we told them we were dissatisfied with the food, they told us that the manager was too busy to speak with us, and handed us the full bill, even though we had barely eaten anything. We will never return and tell everyone else they shouldn't waste their time and money.

I came from Toronto to eat here at this place and I will save you a trip. DO NOT EAT HERE! The price is ridiculous compared to how much seafood you get. I ordered a southwest crab meat sandwich $16, the bun that it was served on was stale and the meat was cold, the meat serving was very small and even the fries were cold. My friend ordered the sizzle meat and seafood plate for $25 plus paid an extra $2 per extra piece of seafood and when it came they didn't even get the shrimp body... they were served shrimp heads and the cook forgot the extra meat that was ordered, the chicken was pink in the middle. Honestly I give a lot of good honest reviews and this place might look modern and nice inside but the customer service is horrible, the chef is rude and doesn't think he is wrong and just yells at the waitress in a different language then english (we could hear him from outside yelling at her)We walked out because the manager said nothing was wrong with the food. It was even worst when another customer came up and complained about his food and how is wasn't cooked properly the same time I walked out. I wish I could give 0 stars

The food is overprice for a “frozen seafood”. We came at the end of the day (8pm) and the seafood, including shrimp, crab, …. tasted not fresh, feel like it has been a while before serving. The seasoning is ok, but too too salty, that we have to order extra a lot of garlic bread. We did give some comment to the waiter before we end the meal, he said he would tell the kitchen. But i hope the restaurant should taste it carefully before serving to customers because this is not a cheap restaurant anyway. We dont receive any official apologize from the restaurant or any compensation. We pay more than $900 for 9 adults and 3 kids.

This restaurant recently opened with good intentions. We were there for lunch and very much enjoyed our meal. The only problem we delt with was that they were short staffed. Make sure you take not of the address because many people we asked didn't know it exeisted. Finally had a taxi dirve that was willing to cruse the neighborhood to find it. One you know where it is located it is easy to find and was worth it for the price.

I don't know about you but when I go for dinner with someone I like to eat my dinner WITH them. My fiancé received his dinner at least 10 minutes before I received mine. Albeit I did get my side of corn when he got his... for it to sit there and get cold by the time I could eat it with my crab. When I pointed this out to the manager he blamed this on being part of the franchise and that if I had wanted our dinners to come together I would have needed to have asked. He then proceeded to lean forward, both hands on the table and stare at us. I finally just said well that's fine can I eat my dinner now then. (Since my fiancé is already done his and now has to sit here and watch me eat mine) I like the taste of Dungeness crab and I watch what I eat and so asked for my sauce on the side. The manager then came over and explained that It is a secret sauce and that the franchise doesn't allow it on the side. Seriously? So I asked for plain crab with a plain butter to dip. When he brought me my crab it was soaked in its bag of butter sauce. I'm happy to pay for good food and I do it often but to pay $34 for my crab and then pay extra to have a side, not receive what I had ordered, or at the same time as my partner, have terrible service and leave hungry is not ok.

Rotten broccoli. My first few bites were sour the I noticed the brown and black spots. I mentioned it to the server. She acknowledged it was rotten and offered to go see the chef about it. The cook sent the bag to prouve it was freshly opened and saying he refused to send other food or rembourse me. The bag was full of brown and black broccoli. The server was apologizing, she could see the veggies were rotten but she couldn’t change the cook/owners mind. Also The mussels are not from the maritimes, even in season they are from new-Zealand.

My brother and I decided to take my dad out for a birthday dinner here for the first time. The place’s decor was nice but the AC was not working and it is a pretty hot day. We got over it then we ordered our food which took a little bit too long but still we understand it’s seafood so we were patiently waiting. Food came hot and the taste was good so no complaints here. BUT then lastly I go to split the bill with my brother to find out after I left the place that I got overcharged 7$ Plus a 20% tip. I go back to the waitress when she tries to hide that she scammed me by returning the 7$ in cash. So watch out people! Doubke check your bills amount if u decide to go there. We went to Capitain’s Boil because of our love of seafoods. The menu was very creative, we had to choose our catch, side dish and sauce, and the spiciness of the sauce, very interesting. When we received our order, that’s when the experience got sad. The whole hot dish was served in disposable plastic bags. Heat and plastic should never go together. As if it wasn’t enough, we had our hands wrapped in disposable plastic gloves and we covered out shirt with a disposable bib. The whole thing was messy, of course, but we felt that plastic wasn’t the correct solution for the problem. Dark coloured moist towel to wipe our hands, and a plain bowl to serve the food, maybe a compostable bib, would make the whole experience more respectful for the environment. The food itself worth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but the overuse of plastic should be urgently solved.

The food was not bad, but we ordered okya and it was very not fresh. We talked to the server and she said she will give us a discount. But when she brings the bill, there is nothing. When I asked her, she said okya was supposed to raise the price so she keep the original one for us as discount.????????????????I argued that if there is price difference, she should let consumers know before we order. She says because they order from Pete’s so when the market price raise, they will raise as well. I feel I am fine if the okya was not fresh because I only want to give my suggestions. Wow. What more can I say. Totally fresh and awesome seafood. Had the pound of tiger shrimp pound of snow crab and pound of clams. All in the captains boil medium spicy sauce. It was unbelievable. I highly recommend trying this place. Several franchises Canada wide. The closer to the ocean you are the fresher the food obviously. I ate in Halifax. Totally blown away. Price was no deterrent here. Just great eats.

Summary: Great food. Quiet spot. Only 4 stars because they “forgot” to bring half of our meal out until the last minute. I enjoyed the ambience of the place although it is quite smaller than I expected. We came for dinner on a Friday evening and it wasn’t too busy. As a result, we got our entree orders of the crawfish and crab legs pretty quickly. However our side order didn’t come until the last 10 minutes of our meal, and this was after we had to remind the servers about the order.

We went here for my birthday and were extremely disappointed. Not only was the food very poorly done but it lacked flavour. What seemed like paste coated every item of food on the platter and yet each piece tasted like nothing. my group left the restaurant feeling sick to our stomachs. i brought this to the waitress’s attention and all we received was an apology. we were not offered any sort of compensation for our poor experience. For living in the Maritimes, we expected such high quality seafood and were very disappointed when those expectations weren’t met especially for the $200 price that we paid. We will never be returning here and do not recommend.

The Captain's Boil brings a fresh take on seafood to the Forest City. I had the lobster roll which isn't found on many menus in London. It was very good. I started with the oysters, they were good but not the best I've had. My G.F. ordered the crawfish and shrimp. They are really messy but they prep you with a bib and gloves. The price is reasonable for the quality of seafood they serve. I have no idea why "reservations are required" as we walked right in.

Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else for that seafood craving. Just had a $42 lobster served to me extremely overcooked to (the point I could barely chew through the meat) in the "Captain Boil" sauce which has zero flavour and desperately lacked salt. Worst lobster I've ever had. Wife's shrimp wasn't over cooked but simply lacked flavour as it was also served in a plastic bag full of the same lackluster sauce. Not impressed. Meal cost me nearly $80 and wasn't worth $20.

Two of us ordered the "Sailor's Feast" for dine-in where you get 2lbs of seafood, fried rice, fries with shrimp, plus 2 regular sides and 1 premium side. The regular sides chosen were potatoes and corn, and premium was the lotus root. The corn, potatoes and lotus root come to the table in the same bags as the seafood, which is no problem since they get all seasoned with the sauces that way. The one bag came leaking to our table, which isn't a big deal since you feast right on the table anyways, but the sauce was kind of leaking which is like..the best part. So we asked if we could get a bit more of sauce on the side and they said no. Then, the sides in the bag (again, this 65$ "feast" meal is meant to at least serve 2 people) had only 1 half piece of corn and 1 egg-sized potato cut into 2 pieces. We asked if we could get like, 1 more of each veggie and the server said no. Those are definitely the cheapest ingredients they provide you with, so not even offering another piece of half a corn to make it so 2 people can eat the "sides" is strange and a very easy way to get someone to write a negative review about what could have been a pretty decent time. At this price point and for this being their "Feast" meal, skimping like this is pretty pathetic. The food itself was super greasy but delicious.

Ordered on skipthedishes tonight. Waited so long to try this restaurant cause they seemingly disappear off skipthedishes every other day. Honestly I feel bad writing bad reviews but this was terrible. Not even the garlic sauce was good. I ordered the choose your catch thing, boyfriend ordered fish and chips. Honestly I'm sure everything this restaurant serves is frozen. So disappointed. 1 piece of corn and one soggy potato in the bag. The garlic sauce was more like garlic water, it needs butter! Even the fish which we were told was haddock when we called was frozen and awful. literally looked like what you buy in a box at the grocery store. Please stop trying to cut costs and save money it's seriously hurting your business. Everything was flavorless & overcooked and soggy. For the price we paid this was awful and NOT in the spirit of a Louisiana fish boil AT ALL.

Concept restaurant. No plates, bibs provided and they are not strictly a gimmick, it's going to be messy. Get each thing you order in a separate bag. Just had dinner there. Not great we ordered some shrimp, mussels, clams, crawl fish and the Cajun fried rice. The mussels clams and Cajun fried rice was good. The shrimp were mushy so that told us that it was old or sitting in the water or sauce too long. And the crawl fish was tasting fishy and old. I didn't complain. We were still wanting more so we ordered some more mussels and clams thinking that was good what could happen. We got our order and my son started on it and than the wife. I look over and see a discussed look on their faces and looked at the clams. I pulled out 6 clams that didn't open and tasted it. I spit it out cause it wasn't cooked and lefted a a bad taste in my mouth. It took us awhile to get someone over to our table and told them what happened. The manager or waiter who ever he was said they had a new cook that just started not too long ago. I stopped him right there and said " this is a seafood restaurant that you guys cook everyday. You guys can really hurt or kill someone by not cooking it right the first place." He apologized and asked if he can take the clams back and show the cook and make us new ones. We said no to cooking us a new batch. And I asked for the bill. He said he'll take off the clams off our bill. That was fine. But to make an excuse cause he is new? Well that's not good enough. New or not if you hire someone to cook for you in a seafood restaurant you better well make sure it's cooked before it comes out of the kitchen. I'm keeping my receipt just in case we need to go to the hospital cause of the food. So my advise look at it smell it and make sure it's cooked.

One of the most amazing restaurants I've ever tried. The food is so delicious and flavorful. The staff are always friendly and very kind. It's pricey I admit but the food deserves every cent. The catch is always fresh and tasty. I'm addicted to their fried seafood rice, it's beyond amazing. My favorite so far is lobster and shrimp with garlic and herbs or lemon pepper. If you haven't tried it yet, hurry up and try it ASAP.

It was my first time going, I enjoyed the food here. What I didn't enjoy was the too close for comfort waiter who instead of telling me that the sauce was to be poured on top, he picked it up of my plate and poured it on my food for me... Maybe I didn't want teriyaki sauce on my fish? And just very in your face for my liking. All in all, the fish was awesome, mainly from Canada, atmosphere was cool, except for the lack of actual dishes... They give you foam bowls and plastic spoons/forks, not so environmentally friendly.

Confused about why there are some personal and negative comments on this new restaurant. But It is common. :) Personally! I and my boyfriend really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and fabulous foods there. The meat of the mussels are pretty big than the local one. The lobster and king crab legs are worth tasting. The meat are good and juicy!!! Probably the price of them are a bit bit bit higher than other foods but I totally understand they are SEAFOODS from other countries (I can't remember )!! By the way, I have to mention all staffs there. Soooo awesome! When my friend told them to put more flavor and gave some opinions, they accepted it and recooked for us.. won't refuse our requests. Quick and polite! Nice try!! Will come back again.

This has to be the only restaurant in Halifax serving frozen seafood and selling it at "market price", misleading customers to believe they are getting fresh seafood from our region. How do I know it was frozen? We were served a HUGE crab claw that was still frozen in the middle. The lobsters were tough, rubbery, and not to mention tiny. The muscles were the biggest I've ever seen (not from our waters) and equally as tough and rubbery. I had to chew on the lobster for so long that I questioned if I could even eat it! On top of that, it cost nearly $200 to feed 3 people the worst seafood I've ever had in Halifax. STAY AWAY!!

Grab your bib and gloves cause this meal’s about to get saucy. This ain’t your grandmas’ seafood this is the CAPTAINS’ seafood. I tried the crab legs and shrimp with the spicy sauce and dear lord were my tastebuds in for a wild ride. The wait staff were quick as a whip with excellent recommendations for first timers. After my meal I wandered home, sat on my couch and fell into a deep, satisfied seafood coma. 10/10 would get saucy again.

Feel like we had a narrow escape. Thankfully then man took forever to come and seat us and as we waited were horrified to see people eating with plastic gloves out of a plastic bag we spun on our heels and as fast as lighting got out of there. We ended up at crabby Joe's across the street and had a fantastic 5 star meal with a great price. I really enjoyed the mussles so much we had to order another pound. 5 star on sevice there. Quick, friendly, and very helpful. We had a young man show us how to eat the crawl fish. If you're in a group and you're not a fan of seafood you might want to eat before going. Not impressed at all. They bring mostly all meals in big hard plastic bags which are for one time use only. Instead of bringing water with lemon for cleaning the hands they bring you one time use plastic gloves and to that there is a plastic bib as well. Last night we ate at Captains Boil, we arrived about 7:50 pm and were seated promptly. It looked like it was busy earlier as several tables had not been cleared off and there were mounds of debris on them. That's not a bad thing as it gave us insight to how our meal would be. Put on the bib and gloves and dig in! We shared a plate of oysters which were fresh and cold - delicious. I ordered the snow crab legs with the Captains signature sauce flavour and medium hot. Went here with my boyfriend and his mother for dinner and all of us said we won't be back. Our server was very friendly but perhaps inexperienced. She took our drink order and then another server took our menus away without taking our order but she never came to check on us. After five minutes we flagged her down and our order was taken. They put an order slip on your table after the order is punched in, this is why she should have realized nobody had taken our order. My boyfriend's "meal" came out after 5 minutes. He got the lobster tacos. They were pathetic. Only two tacos, in a kids meal sized dish, with only a couple pieces of lobster in each taco. And no condiments brought out. The server then notices only one meal was out and went to make sure the other meals were coming. 15 minutes later we get our meals after my boyfriend is finished and has to watch us eat. Both our meals were measly and kid sized as well. We told the manager we did not like our meals and how it was not okay that the meals were brought so spaced out. All he says is sorry and walks away. Pros: I liked the decor, and the server was very nice. Cons: food not great, not worth the price, poor customer service We won't be back, but it's always hit and miss with new places.

It was really an experience worth mentioning. I had never tried Lobster in my before coming to Halifax. The first experience wasnt great at all. Ended up paying a lot for food you dint enjoy. And I was dissappointed and made up my mind never to have a lobster. But things changed when I landed up in Captain's boil. I was a little hesitant to try this place given its luke-warm reviews (Google and Yelp had it at 3/5 at the time of writing). Nobody likes to eat just average seafood, given how expensive it can be. Maybe I adjusted my expectations accordingly, but I actually really liked the place! I went with a group of 7 other people and we had a chance to order everything off the menu and we tried a little of each other's. Seasoning: Captain's Boil, Spice Level: Mild Crawfish - a bit of effort to get at the meat, I felt it was only ok Dungeness Crab - very sweet flavored meat, took a little effort to get to it, but probably the group's favourite King Crab Leg (1 leg) - massive leg with a lot of meat, a little effort to get to it, but massive payoff, another one of the group's favourite Lobster - some of us thought the claws was only OK as the sauce did not fully get in there, but they were very impressed with the tail and felt it more than made up for it. Shrimp - it's alright, as mentioned in previous reviews, it was a little overcooked We did not get the snowcrab legs or chicken. Sides: We got the sausages, okra and corn. Personally I really liked the corn, while the group really liked the okra. Overall, I was really pleased with the place. Yes, it will be pricey (my bill was ~$50 for Dungeness crab, sausage, and corn, no drinks or dessert), but that filled me right up. There are less pricey options such as shrimp, chicken and snowcrab legs. Another thing that I saw other tables do was to split a boil among the table and fill up on other sides such as Cajun fried rice.

Menu was weird, was skeptical. Service was great. If you get past the unique food delivery method, you'll get some perfectly cooked seafood. My only critique is add a dessert menu

Awesome food. Get the mussels with Garlic sauce no heat, the seafood platter special before 4pm and the wings ranch sauce of course. Tasty and inexpensive. Guys just being honest when this restaurant first opened in 2017 it was great so I gave it a 5 star rating. From 2018 the service and taste of the food has gone down. It's 2019 and again the taste of the food is not the same at all so I've changed the rating to 2. Within the past year and a half they must have hired a few new cooks and I just being honest, it's been an epic failure. Update: service, taste and quality all getting back to when they first opened! I’m pleased again! Great food!

Best place to enjoy the delicious seafood and best of all to enjoy their unique service. Love the vibe and delicious seafood dishes we had ordered. However those people who are first timer to this unique place has to research about the chemistry of their serving way , food comes in bags n u got to enjoy the meals with ur hands by cracking the shells of crabs or lobsters which make the sense why u have to use ur natural god given tools ... we all enjoyed every dish we had ordered n recommending it to every seafood lover.

OMG. DO NOT go to the Captains Boil. To put it simply we left before finishing. The shrimp and Crawfish were both over cooked, the fries at Costco are better and the broccoli was so over cooked you couldn't get it without falling apart. When I asked to talk to the manager "me is busy and I'm not sure when he will be able to talk to you". And then I said we weren't finishing they gave us a full bill for the meal...we will NOT be back. -over cooked -poor service -bad wine -expensive for what it was

Good for a laugh, that's about it... I'm an east coaster and I can say it was a laughable experience. The table beside us had 'food' on the table before we were asked for drinks (about 25 mins). Drinks came, about another 25 minutes to take our order. When the food came, my wifes king crab showed up, still partially frozen, it turns out they pulled the wrong bag out of the boiler. No utensils, plates or napkins. If you expect a good meal or service, keep going when you see the 'Captain's Boyle!!!

We received our shrimps in a plastic bag... Also, they are still using straws. Is it possible, at least, to have paper straws? Shrimps were good, but this is it. Would not recommend.

Had a lunch date with the wife recently and ordered the lobster main and sizzling plate fish-rice combo. The food arrived in quick time and was very tasty. Also very affordable price - more than half of what the other Lobster chain would cost for a lobster dish! We've found our new seafood place for sure!

I’ve read it was one of london’s best seafood restaurant. So yesterday(valentines day) me and my Partner decided to try it. We’re actually came as “walk-in” without but they let us in. We first ordered shrimp basket and shrimp fried rice, their special seafood fried rice. Waiting time was terrible. The shrimp basket came about 5 mins, no comment on that. But the seafood shrimp fried rice came after 45 mins. How long should it take to cook this recipe???Waiters are busy catering other people,new customers are piling up, but they left us behind. We followed up the order and she said sorry too. I wanted to add lobsters and taste those oysters but I was worried it will take me again another 40 mins. Or more. I lost my appetite though.. the waiters were nice and friendly, however, I don’t imagine myself going back there. I should try New Irenes or Red lobster next time. The prices are high too, small servings!!I’m so disappointed I was not able to taste what we came for..too much waiting time...I will give ateast a star.. no offense, or maybe we’re just unlucky last night...thanks anyway..

Took my whole family here and we had a great time getting messy! So much fun! and delicious too! all the food came in plastic bags full of the sauce of your choice for all to share! this is not your fine dining experience, it's a hands on type of dining experience, don't be afraid to have fun and get messy! I ordered pretty much everything on the menu and it was all delicious, only complaint is that depending on the season, some of the items on the menu can be very pricey, but that's not really the restaurants fault. Highly recommended!

The food is really good!!!!! I recommend the fried chicken with Captain Boil Sauces, and the boil chicken with half grill sauce and half cajun sauce ,then put on top of white rice! Is soooooo freaking awesome! The manager he is really nice as well.

I am 57 years old, travel a great deal and have had the good fortune to eat in many restaurants. Without exaggeration I can say that I had the worst meal I have ever been served in this place. $42.00 dollars for a lobster that had, at most, 3 ounces of tough, rubbery meat. It arrived in a plastic bag (the waitress forewarned me of this) with a small potato sliced in three pieces and was served with over cooked plain boiled rice. Why two starches you might ask: they were out of vegetables that night, they said. Absolutely revolting. Stay as far away from this dump as you can.

Went here a couple weeks ago with friends and while the food was good (I didn't get the boil but some of my friends did) I was incredibly unimpressed by the amount of single use waste the restaurant used. From the plastic bags the boils are served in, plastic bibs, plastic gloves, then most of the other food on the table was on plastic dishes and plastic cups, straws and cutlery... I thought it may be a covid precaution but some people did have actual plates and cutlery (not plastic) so it was quite inconsistent. If they would take the effort to think more about their environmental footprint I'll contemplate going back.
