Came here last week with my husband, because we heard great things. I got the paella marinara which was delicious but the service was terrible. Our server Emily gave my husband attitude when he asked what gluten free items they had, and the service was extremely slow- even saw the waitresses laughing with eachother when we were waiting over 10 mins for our bill. Will not be back.

We miss the previous resto in that spot, but the food here is a welcome addition to Halifax. Having travelled in Spain in recent years, we found the food choice and quality very good. We shared a salad and two tapas with two glasses of wine, but we could have used another tapas. The chorizo was hot (says my wife). Cost with 15% tax and 20% tip (COVID sized) was $90. The dessert selection is limited—only churros.

Opening night at Los Toros! As fans of Barcelona and Spanish food in general we were very excited about a restaurant that offered food from Spain. We were not disappointed. The Paella was large enough to share for two hungry adults and easily could feed three with less of an appetite. We finished off the evening with Churros and multiple Cavas. Some shorter wider cups for chocolate dipping will help with the churros, (we were told they are on order). Very impressed with everything and looking forward to hopefully the addition of Jamon Iberico in the near future. We will be back soon!

Los toros, best restaurant we tried in Halifax. The food was excellent, we tried paella , chorizo chicken, starters and sangria , all were delicious. Servíce was excellent and when we asked to be seated outside for our dog, the first thing they did was to bring water for our puppy. For any dog lover that is a plus. Los toros is a MUST If you are downtown Halifax.

We were excited to try this new authentic Spanish restaurant. It had good hype online and the menu looked appealing. We had no issue reserving a table for 10 people and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant ambience felt relaxed, sophisticated, and welcoming. Our server (Ana) was very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable of the menu. She was able to provide recommendations during the opening night. The service was not consistent throughout the night. We were able to get our tapas and drinks quite promptly, however, some of our entrees took longer than expected. This might be due to their opening night. We were able to try all the appetizers with the exception of the oysters (they were not available). Overall, the Tapas were good. The Chorizos al Vino Tinto, Calamares a la Romana, and the Pulpo a la Brasa (potatoes served with this plate was better than the Patatas Bravas) were our top choices. The Paella Vallenciana Mixta was delicious. Ana was on point recommending this dish to us. For our especialidades, we ordered the Espaguetis con Mariscos and Medallones de res, both dish tasted really good. However, one of the medallones that we ordered was sent back to the kitchen, but only to get the order wrong again. Ana was kind enough to take it off the bill, fortunately the person that ordered the food was already getting full from the tapas as it took quite sometime to correct the order only to serve another wrong order. For dessert, we all wanted to try the Chocolate con Churros. The expectation was quite different from the reality. In their website, it showed an actual churros dipped in traditional hot chocolate. What we received was donuts sprinkled with sugar served in a coffee mug of half-filled chocolate. I think that the aesthetic of the dish could be significantly improved and if this is what they are serving, then it should reflect the menu and on their website because we were quite disappointed when we received the orders. The donuts did taste delicious in combination with the hot chocolate. The sangrias were DELICIOUS! We all recommend that you try each one of their delicious sangrias! I would give this restaurant another try in the future when I’m back in the city again. Thank you Ana again for providing us a good experience!

Well service was great. Was looking forward to a real authentic paella and got an ersatz. Safran rice with no taste and ingredients added after instead of cooked together. The Sangria did taste good even if again it was not a Spanish Sangria. So maybe the Authentic Spanish should be removed !

Even though we found the chicken in paella a bit over cooked and dry. Other than that, the service and food and the environment is second to no other. Three friends and I came in this past Saturday for the first time. Absolutely stunning restrauant with a great atmosphere, great music , a nice harbour view, friendly, professional, knowledgeable and caring staff who make you feel right at home. Very handsome bartender ???? by the way who makes the best Sangrias in town and the food is soooo good, so fresh and flavorful. I didnt get to go on my trip to Barcelona last year due to Covid19... but having this meal in this place today with my friends made me feel like I was there ... even if just for a couple of hours. I / we will definitely be back again

I was looking forward to try this restaurant. I love Spanish cuisine. We ordered to start the “Alcachofas con Jamón” it was delicious, and the main course was “Salmón a la Plancha” and “Zarzuela de Mariscos”. The food was good, except the salmon was a little bit over cooked; the chef should know better. I didn’t have dessert but the expresso was terrible, they have no idea how to pour a real expresso. The big NO NO was the sound; it was terrible, the music was TOO LOUD and it wasn’t a good playlist choice for a dinner restaurant, this may worked for a party. I asked the server to reduce the volume but she said “ unfortunately I can’t change anything about the music, it’s locked we have no access to change” too bad, that ruined the experience. I recommend the food, but they need to review their music choices.

We visited the restaurant on January 23rd, and were very pleased with our experience. Although it is new, there was very few signs of it being new. Nothing of consequence. We started off with a glass of sangria - it was lovely! Fresh fruit, and well presented. Tasty! Our calamari (Calamares a la Romana) was nicely prepared, and the scallops (Vieiras) were delightful. The starters were very well presented. We ordered the Paella Marinera to share for our main. Although the menu says it takes 30 mins, we were warned by our server that it would be less. We had a good amount of time to have our starters before the paella arrived. It was amazing! Very well presented as well. Large and meaty seafood, and very flavourful rice. I highly suggest it! We enjoyed it with some Garnacha as well. We finished off with the Chocolate con Churros. The hot chocolate was a perfectly thick dip for the churros - it was very rich, but a very nice ending to a great meal. We enjoyed the great service, the friendly waitstaff, and the wide variety of both food and beverage offerings.

This is a place we have intended to try for a while. Having spent a great deal of time in Spain, we are very familiar with the food so were interested in how this local "Spanish" restaurant stacked up. It is in a great location on the Halifax waterfront in the old Stanyer's wharf location. We decided to order a selection of their Tapas, and most were quite good. Scallops were cooked perfectly, but the octopus was VERY tough and chewy. The chorizo was certainly not typical Spanish chorizo, but we still enjoyed it. Some dishes were more local than Spanish, but still good (It does say "Canadian- adapted". Our server was polite and helpful but not that confident on the menu. Overall, it is a nice restaurant in a nice location - worth a visit.

(Translated) I think it's great that there are Spanish sites from Spain in Canada, but this is not what I expected. As a Spanish person, I can confirm that this is Spanish cuisine for tourists. Where is the good thick Spanish omelette? Where is the Canary Islands? They do not dare to serve some wrinkled potatoes with mojo or what happened? ... The Spanish essence is lost. The day I find a good Spanish restaurant where I feel at home in Canada, I can die in peace. The tumaca bread is dwarf and all lovely haha and the best thing is that it is called authentic Spanish and they don't speak Spanish loool (Original) Me parece genial que hayan sitios españoles de España en Canadá, pero esto no es lo que esperaba. Como persona española que soy, puedo confirmar que esto es cocina española para turistas. Donde esta la buena tortilla española gruesa? Donde esta Canarias? No se animan a servir unas papas arrugás con mojo o que pasó?... Se pierde la esencia española. El día en el que encuentre un buen restaurante español donde me sienta como en casa en Canadá podré morir tranquilo. El pan tumaca es enano y todo cariiiiisimo jaja y lo mejor es que se llama auténtico español y no hablan español loool

When we arrived here we waited 15 minutes for our host to greet us. There wasn't anyone ahead of us and when we did get greeted it seemed we were more of an inconvenience than anything. Our host was anything but welcoming. The interior was stylish, clean and bright with some cool features like the wine wall that separated the rooms. Our server was our saving grace for the whole experience. She was suggestive on menu items and drinks. She was upbeat and friendly. The drinks we ordered were underwhelming. The sangria was terrible. Our apps were delicious. The San Sabatian Serrano was so good and the presentation was neat. We decided to leave after our appetizer because we just weren't enjoying our visit like we had hoped. Pros: neat environment, friendly waitress, tasty apps. Cons: aweful host, mediocre drinks

Location, is excellent in spite of the issue of the parking. The location in downtown is excellent. No free parking you should expect to walk. Layout and decorations, wonderful, cozy and spacious. Decorations and layout done perfectly. Service is excellent and friendly. The waitress and waiters are friendly, well knowledgeable of the ingredients and professional services. I like how they talk with customers and take the jokes. communication is 5 ???? Waiting to be seated, we had a reservation and we were seated immediately. Waiting te for service and time to get the food was within expectations and plausible. Taste, it is the real Italian food, spaghetti tase excellent, salmon plate even better. ???? I ????liked the food. The presentation of the plate was professional. Plate were full and rich ???? Cleanliness, the place cleaning was plausible. Prices is $$ however it is worth it. Conclusion, I am coming back. And if you want to try something new. Try this one.

Amazing! We were excited when we heard there was an authentic Spanish restaurant coming to the city and we were not disappointed! Food, especially the paella were amazing and for dessert we had the churros which were Ugh so good. We had a group of 8 and everyone enjoyed the night. Staff are super friendly and our server was very good. Definitely coming back!

Amazing food! The alcohol prices were very reasonable ($33 for a bottle of organic wine). The patatas bravas were authentic, and the scallops were amazing. We had the vegetarian paella and it was perfect for 2 people to share. Great service. The music was wonderful. See my pics. Please support this local business, they deserve it.

The hubby and I went here for a celebration dinner and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were seated served very quickly and the staff were very friendly. We were given a free amuse-bouché that the chef freshly cut. The food and the drinks both looked and tasted excellent. We even ordered the paella to go so we could have more of their food the next day. We will definitely be coming back.

The food was underwhelming when we finally got it after an hour and a half. We ordered the charcuterie, and watched a table order, eat, pay and leave in the time it took to get that. I ordered the blanca sangria and it was awful, not that our waitresss cared. When I asked her to bring us the bill she said "I guess overall you didn't like it" as she removed my drink and board that wete both barely touched. At no point did she ask how the food was or check in on us. 2 hours wasted and still hungry.

My friend and I slid in to Los Toros one evening while walking on the historic Halifax waterfront, for an evening cocktail to cap off our day. We were looking for a place that felt fit for discerning tastes, and this restaurant did not disappoint! We were immediately impressed with the elegant New York feel to the atmosphere - the lighting was low, very comfortable and set the mood, and everything from the bar to the furniture, fixtures and music fit the style perfectly. The cocktails we ordered were made with care and attention, and were outstanding. The bartender was affable and friendly, and although we weren't up for a meal at the time, the menu looked diverse and interesting. This place is a gem!

I was so excited about a restaurant in Halifax that served paella only to be extremely let down at what I thought was an authentic Spanish restaurant, Los Toros, downtown Halifax. The appetizers were good, the service excellent, the paella the worst I've ever had and I've had it in several places including Spain. The rice was actually red and tasted like a spoonful of tomato paste. I contacted the restaurant and gave them my feedback and was simply told they would take it under advisement.

Booked at short notice so got a late time booking but we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Good but short selection of cocktails we both enjoyed our choices...we wanted a lighter meal so we chose 2 small plates then the paella Valenciana Mixta...all were really really good especially the paella. The experience was not great at all : - no changing table in washroom.. all Canadian restaurant have that. - spaghetti marinara for kids were too spicy and there is too much garlic - the sangria was just water with a very few quantity of wine - service was bad. No asking for a dessert.. - AC was too low and we were freezing in there. - very noisy, there was only 5 tables full inside but the sound was so loud.

Bad experience, sat at my table, my menu smelt rancid like it hadn’t been cleaned at all, there was a spider web next to my leg at the table I was sitting at (outside but still, clean the area people are eating at). My group decided against eating because of how dirty this place is. I had one sangria that I had to finish before leaving, I’m pretty sure the pineapple that was grilled had been grilled on the same grill meat etc.. has been grilled on and I got extremely nauseous once I left, (this drink was very watered down, I wasn’t drunk and then got sick). Service was okay, the host wasn’t very friendly, our server was fine, she was just very busy and seemed overwhelmed. Personally I’d walk right by this place next time.

Extremely disappointing. A 27 dollar plate with 4 peaces of cheese and few peace’s of ham. Choros were raw inside. The place is very very noisy and not because of many people, just something extremely wrong with acoustics.
