Starter Spanish potato bombas and calamari very tasty , main menu Duck, omg so salty pay for $30 for this dish?? Better go somewhere else, spanish prawn also to salty my hubby can't take it we really dissapointed with duck and prawn, service was excellent Come to this restaurant for my celebration but end up My dinner celebration turn bitter :(

Possibly the best food in the city, definitely top 5. Service was friendly and not at all pretentious. We reserved for 9 and showed up as 11 people with no issues. We had plenty of time to relax and never felt rushed to the next course.

Came here for lunch and was surprised that it was fairly empty. The food was delicious though a bit slow to come out of the kitchen. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. The croquette was just okay.

Food, ambience, service --- this place is tops in all the categories. Love the little touches like the custom tumblers and silverware Be sure to try the elk! Best game dish I've ever had. It's not cheap, but definitely worth the price.

The BEST burger in town!!! They even have kimchi in the burger and that lightening up the whole burger! They also have the best fries as well! Highly recommend

Really nice atmosphere and interesting art decor. Their burger for Burger Week 2018 was amazing, wish they'd keep it on the menu. I also got the calamari wish unfortunately was not enjoyable.

Went here for a semi formal dinner with a date. Didn't feel out of place in a tie. Saw lots of people more casual, but also not out of place. It's a hotel restaurant, so you pay for that, but if you want fine dining downtown without taking out a second mortgage, this place is high on the list.

Gio never fails to impress. Great new menu supporting local. Rachel our server could not have been more accommodating. Amazing limoncello cake...beautifully artfully decorated...the meringue rosettes are stunning and delicious..a great of thought went into this.....so happy Gio's is back.

Half a lobster tail and all fat rib eye. Fois gras was served cold like it sat for awhile. The hen had 9 olives changing the flavor of the whole dish. Poor service. Waited 15 minutes to have dishes cleared while our server giggled and gossiped behind the bar. Bartender was polite and courteous thankfully. I guess we expected more from diamond star restaurant.

What an impressive and very satisfying dining experience! It's impossible to pigeonhole Gio's cuisine. It's very inventive, but also comfortably grounded on simple flavors that are expertly crafted into tasting "arcs" that play out as you make your way through each dish. We ordered five appetizers and an entree, and all of it was amazing. The cocktails were also fantastic, as was the incredibly attentive service. It's no wonder that Gio is the #1 rated restaurant in Halifax on TripAdvisor. I can see how it appeals to people visiting from all over the world.

I got to admit this is such a great restaurant I can't complain at all these guys are unbelievable the food is off-the-hook hear the burgers everybody's mentioning burgers I can't wait to come back probably one of the best burgers I've ever ate my life and the prices are really good facilities extremely clean excellent customer service really good views very comfortable and cozy environment I highly recommend anybody looking for a really good meal to check out this location you will not be disappointed whatsoever.

We came here with our 16 month old daughter. They were wonderfully accommodating. The food was amazing - polenta poutine with braised short ribs, tempura cauliflower, steak done perfectly and an interesting veggie main. We were dressed casually but the atmosphere was a little more formal. The staff was great. Wish we lived in Halifax!

Just to be honest, I went to this restaurant only for the burger week, the reason we selected this one based on what they've advertised on the burger week website. Unfortunately the burger was very basic. Not even close to the photo. The place was very small even not enough seats. Taste was less than normal and the fraise was very salty. I can't deny that the place is elegant and cozy and it might not be their plate to serve. However I described my experience. Sorry guys for the rating, I probably must visit them again to try other serving.

Food is not consistently good. Pho was terrible/ bitter and Calamari lacked flavour. Caesar salad was slight better than a supermarket or commercial Caesar salad. Much different experience from a year ago.

Good ambiance, professional and long term waiting staff. The location is near many other posh restaurants in Halifax. Gio stands out in its modern take on exotic menu options; excellent visual presentations are thoroughly backed up by delightful assault of the taste buds. Tender meats seasoned just right with sophisticated sauces of international inspirations executed with precise degree of desired doneness, which is indicative of the chef’s devotion to innovation as well as attention to details.

Chef Gregory Burns is on point and Gio is on trend and smart for hiring someone who appreciates the wild edibles! I went for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed AT ALL by the food. Superb amuse-bouche. The server was terrible (enough to take a 5 star to a 4). My partner and I were there to let loose and spend money. We were in the mood for cocktails, scotch, wine, and found ourselves becoming seemingly dry without beverages. It kind of took the high away from the experience. But the food - yes! Fantastic. I am very into the wild edibles so I convinced my partner to get the apps with moss, lichens, mushrooms, and berries. All lovely. The venison carpaccio - yes! Looked like a little forest. The foie - yes! Candied basil and fresh strawberries cut the depth of the liver but balanced everything perfectly. My photos do not do justice to the dishes but I didn't want to be one of those pretentious photo takers at the table.

At the beginning we received a little greeting from the kitchen, which was already very fine. Our three-year-old son even got something more for children. As a starter we had a green salad and a carpaccio. The salad was very good. The carpaccio was too sour. The pickled peppers and onions were far too dominant. Too bad. Our son had chicken nuggets with chips, which came with our starters as ordered. The main course was venison fillet (extra class) and beef fillet, both of which tasted excellent. For dessert we had chocolate cake and almond cake. Both dishes were real dessert dreams. We really liked it here and we would definitely go back. (Original) “Sehr gutes Essen in angenehmer Atmosphäre” Wir haben hier zu Abend gegessen. Die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Das Essen war sehr gut. Wir haben zu Beginn einen kleinen Gruss aus der Küche erhalten, der schon sehr fein war. Unser dreijähriger Sohn hat sogar extra etwas eher für Kinder erhalten. Als Vorspeise hatten wir einen grünen Salat und ein Carpaccio. Der Salat war sehr gut. Das Carpaccio war viel zu sauer. Die in Essig eingelegten Peperoni und Zwiebeln waren viel zu dominant. Schade. Unser Sohn hatte Chicken Nuggets mit Pommes, welche wie bestellt mit unseren Vorspeisen gekommen sind. Als Hauptgang hatten wir Rehfilet (Extra-Klasse) und Rindfilet, welche beide hervorragend geschmeckt haben. Zum Dessert hatten wir Schokoladenkuchen und Mandelkuchen. Beide Gerichte waren richtige Dessertträume. Es hat uns hier sehr gut gefallen und wir würden sicher wieder kommen.

We enjoyed a delicious meal full of delectable tastes. The textures of scallops and lentils worked perfectly together. The calamari was soft and melt in your mouth. Great Italian Red and a huge wine selection. The service was attentive and you can tell the staff take pride in their work. Recommend. You won't be disappointed.

We had dinner here tonight and for the price of the food here you would expect good service. Although our server was good, the person who greeted us when we walked in was very rude. Although we had a reservation she assumed we didn’t and said they are full. Very rude and ruined the experience. She proceeded to bring us to the table without eye contact or a smile.
