Had a good experience the first time I went. Food was awesome and cheap. Took my kids for breakfast there for the second time. My 7 mth old was asleep in her stroller when we got there I was told I could not bring the stroller in so I would have to take her out and leave the stroller outside. I explained that she was sleeping and I wasn't going to wake her up so they gave me an alternative to go sit outside which wasn't good either. Not very accommodating with stroller. At that point I got fed up and we went to breezy corners for breakfast just up the street from them. they were friendly , accommodating and had great food and prices were fair for what you get.

Nice spot for a quick and traditional breakfast. Everything seems fresh and made to order, though I do feel some prices are a bit high. Servers are always very friendly and prompt, and I'll give them a lot of credit for that since I have seen them suffer through some very rude customers.

As soon as we entered Vienna we knew we had made the right choice for breakfast. We were greeted quickly and amicably and provided a seat in a timely manner. The atmosphere was relaxing with a very positive attitude. Our servers were friendly and efficient and the meal was excellent. Whenever I am in Guelph, this is where I will be having breakfast. I am also excited to try lunch or supper.

We went as a family recently for Sunday Brunch and were very impressed by the whole experience. We were greeted in a very friendly manner immediately and waited approximately 15 minutes for a table. Our server was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. We all ordered from the breakfast menu and everything was excellent. The home fried potatoes were cooked as they should be on a flat-top grill. Hollandaise sauce was very good. We will definitely return.

The Vienna is Guelph's classic breakfast joint. My grandfather and father have been regulars since the 1930's! My daughter loves to watch the fresh orange juice machine. The food is good, sometimes they come up with unique combinations for breakfast, which we love. The coffee is excellent! It's well-priced and in a great location. One of my favourites in town!

A week ago I would have given this place 5 stars but now they have started charging a plate splitting fee to share my big breakfast with my 2 year old. We are regular customers that come here once a week and I can say without a doubt we won't be back. It's a ridiculous money grab for the 3 bites of pancake that my kid will eat while we are here. Edit. At the end if the meal they removed the charge without me even asking about it. Back to five stars. Good job Vienna you will continue to have our business.

They have this insane policy where you can't modify any of the items even a little bit, even if it would be extraordinarily straightforward to do so (i.e. you can't switch out scrambled eggs for a fried egg on the breakfast sandwich). Their servers however are literal angels sent from heaven. I blame the management for the stupid rules.

Every time I have tried to call for some help I got ignored and cold service and never once has the waitress Sheila come to our table to ask us how we were. However other customers were served with friendly and continuous service. Please work on your service towards customers, because I actually really like this restaurant and the food.

Remains one of our go to places for Saturday breakfast. Don't open till 8. When summer arrives and the farmers market is busy, try to get there before 8:30. Excellent food, quite quick service. Lunch is very good too. Schnitzel is a specialty tho they don't serve the variety they did when they were open over the dinner hour.

Extremely disappointing that they do not have their seating for Covid-19 protocols better managed. Waited in the rain for half an hour after telling the server we were family of four. After a table left she came out and said she had room for 3 and that we would have to wait for the restaurant to have room for four. I wish she would have explained that the half hour before. And so basically that means we would potentially be waiting all day while tables for two continually get seated. Just a heads up if you’re planning on going with any more than two people...

Just got back from a Sunday brunch with our family of 5. A really nice experience. Excellent food at good prices. Friendly service. I was able to make my classic breakfast low-carb by substituting home-fries for fresh spinach. We will return! A note to people in large groups on a busy Sunday morning: We waited a bit (not long) to get a table for 5, but apparently the people occupying that table had been hanging out for 2 hours. This is bad form for a busy restaurant with a small footprint and low prices which clearly makes money on high-turnover business. During a slow time like 3 PM in the afternoon? Sure. But not from 9-11 AM on a Sunday morning.

As a lifelong Guelph resident, I finally went to the Vienna Restaurant. I was so taken by the place, I can’t wait to go back. It’s a cute place with a diner vibe, wait staff is friendly and attentive. Husband and I both had the classic breakfast. The fried potatoes were true fried potatoes and the sausage was fantastic, unlike anything I’d had before. We will definitely be back, and I can’t wait!

Today was our first visit to the Vienna, and it won't be the last. In a word: GREAT! It's a cozy diner with a homey feel and the food and service were both wonderful. I had a weiner schnitzel on a kaiser and have never tasted schnitzel that good before. Perfectly done, not tough, and HUGE. I could only eat half. Give the Vienna a try. You won't be disappointed, and you will look forward to going back.

I was told to get the saddlebags, I think they’re called. I did, and they were so amazing that I want to attempt it at home. They also had fresh orange juice, which I enjoyed. It was a bit cramped, but it’s definitely worth it. I would say go early or in the afternoon, to avoid the breakfast rush.

Went there last Friday morning with my dad for brunch. Food was good, decent prices, but service was horrendous. Server was rude and condescending. Asked for a ice tea from the selection of fountain drinks, when recieved, drink appeared watered down. When I informed the server, and suggested possibly the syrup box had run out she said that the machine was acting up, I suggested maybe trying the orange crush instead. She seemed incredibly annoyed, and brought over something that didn't look drinkable at all, and there was a hair in it. She didnt wait to see my reaction or if it was okay. Instead ignored our table for 10 minutes. When I said I would just get a orange juice instead she rolled her eyes. She then came back to the table two times after that and made one comment "was this finally a winner?" and later "glad we could finally please you." I understand the service industry is hard, and as a frequent diner, and a regular at many locations this service had my jaw dropping. I think another service either overheard how baffled we were at the service or saw how annoyed we were because at the end of the meal she ended up taking my orange juice off the bill, and totally changing her tune. But based on the service before that, I will not be back. I understand machines break, would have been nice to be informed prior to ordering, would have just got the orange juice to begin with and not deal with the headache for her or myself.

Our server was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. We all ordered from the breakfast menu and everything was excellent. We make a point to go here for breaky whenever we're in Guelph. It looks a little dated, bit small and usually a big lineup on Saturday but it's so great. The food is delicious, comes out fast, portions are a perfect size and the staff is wonderful. No complaints at all. Reminds me of going for breakfast with my parents when I was a kid.

Also the building is old and decor is dated. As well, please change the radio station from '50s American music for either more contemporary or even better, European. After living in Guelph for two years we finally got into town for breakfast (more brunch) at the Vienna resteraunt. What an experience. Thus is an old school tiny diner, atmosphere unbelievable and if it wasnt for the prevalence of phones on tables, you could have been transported back to the '50s. The food was astounding, the staff friendly and prompt and the service great. Well worth a visit if you are in town, definitely recommended.

I enjoyed my recent return to Vienna. It is a Guelph mainstay - been around for years and years. That to say that the seats reflect that reality. It was quite a surprise to sit down and feel like I was sinking into the booth... I may have even felt a spring. A bit more padding/refurbishing would improve the overall experience. However, I can't complain at all about the quality of the food or the service. Both were quite excellent. Certainly up there with local breakfast options. I'll just choose my seat more carefully next time.

This is the best restaurant in Guelph and the surrounding area for breakfast and I have tried a few. Cozy, unpretentious surroundings in a historic building and warm, friendly staff. My eggs are always cooked exactly as ordered and the food is very prompt with generous portions. The new patio extension is great with a nice view of the church of Our Lady. Don't hesitate to try it!

Don't know of any other business that operates like this. If your hours are until 2pm people should be able to come in and sit down at 1:59 . Or change your hours to reflect your true " hours of operation".

We have got some take-out today. Schnitzels were very big however breading was very thick. Jager sauce made of powder or from the can. Hardly Any mushrooms so I didn't enjoyed. Potato salad just ok. I would not order this dish any more.

Sharing this, from the GLOBE & MAIL MON, JAN, 11, 2016 GLOBE & MAIL The folks at the Vienna Restaurant in downtown Guelph, Ont., were too to busy to talk to me when I phoned around brunch time yesterday to get some information about the diner, asking me nicely to call back later. I could tell from the background noise alone. But that told me a lot about what I already suspected were the good times in this small city about an hour away from Toronto, depending on how fast you drive.

The food was very good. We went at about 9:15 am. There were enough tables inside. It looks very nice. The service was very fast. We decided to share one of the dishes that seemed too much for only one person. We were charged an extra $2.50 and were informed in advance, but I don't think I should be charged for this, first time I have been charged in any restaurant for sharing. We had to ask for water, we got only one menu and we were 3 people, so it took longer to choose. The waitress seemed to be in a hurry for us to order, and when we finished I asked for a coffee, and I was having it when the waitress came with the bill (we hadn't asked for it) and the machine to pay. We asked her to come back later. I looked around and there were at least 3 empty tables, so I don't understand why we were being hurried. I recommend this restaurant, but I would just suggest that they are careful to give extra menus, have water at the table and not hurry people.

I mobile ordered take-out from Vienna this morning and it was tasty. Order eggs over-easy, they had some nice thicker bacon and fried potatoes. Vienna is a classic and I've been there before Covid. They delivered fast (via UberEats) and its been around in Guelph for quite a while. I recommend it!

Location is painfully small. Can never get seated unless you are alone and want to sit at the "bar". Also open hours are short and you need to be there over an hour early or they will not sit you. Food is okay.. but too much effort to actually enjoy with people.

High expectations with this place in downtown, Only 4 out of 7 tables outside with people in it and not busy at all. Came in and were told (wife and I) sit wherever you want, sat in, got our order taken and wait, and wait, and wait.... after 30 min, first table that came after us was served, and 5 minutes later a second one that came after us was served too??? So nicely we asked and mentioned that 2 tables were served to people that came after us and were told, that they are a little bit behind in the kitchen??? How come??? So 10 minutes more and a third table that arrived just 20 minutes ago with 4 people was served too??? Too much so we said we are leaving right now and left. They said that they didn’t know what happened??? If they don’t know what happened after 50 minutes that tells you a lot of how well they manage the place. Never coming back.
