The owners and staff are great here. The food has never failed to satisfy. When you want your food hot (spicy) they make it hot. If you want to watch soccer then this is typically a good place to find it with a great bar atmosphere.

Greatest Lamb Pie...with real chunks of lamb!!! piped potato and local greens in yummy dressing. This place is my Go-To place for it's strong and talented kitchen, pleasant servers and quieter alcoves to eat in away from the bar, which is a great place when you want to be there, but for conversation the separate seating area is ideal. Outdoor patio good too.

This restaurant has great food, and very friendly knowledgeable staff. The space is great. I loved the chic-pub look. What we ate: Welsh Rarebit - a fantastic beer cheese dip with soft warm pretzels. Indian Platter - Enjoyable. Got this as a lunch meal and found the flavours blended. Welly Spa Steak & Mushroom Pie - Delicious. *Their fries are heavenly. I'd go back. Dinner menu looks awesome!

Food was fantastic would definitely come for that alone. I don't know what happened but the pepsi was actually disgusting tasting, too much syrup or too little. We noticed the glasses have a hard water residue on them which was a bit of a turn off. When pointed out to the waitress was told they were waiting on a part to fix the problem.

We had a dine in meal here and the food and staff were excellent! The restaurant took all of the proper Covid precautions with Masks being mandatory while not seated and I also noticed some plexiglass between the tables. That said the service was great and our waitress was informative with the specials and other menu items. We didn't order any mains but the appetizers were delicious. Especially the Crisps which are a must have if you come here.

Just recently moved to Guelph and decided to try the Fat Duck for Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. It was delicious! We have been back for another brunch and went one weekday to try their lunch/dinner menu. Each time we go we have great service! It's a fun atmosphere and the food is amazing!

Absolute worst pub i’ve ever been too. The food was extremely expensive for the quality you are given. I’m almost certain the less popular dishses are boxed frozen foods bought from the grocery store. The waitress I had was very passive aggressive and i did not feel comfortable eating there. I expected good quality for the prices they set and did not recieve that whatsoever. Do not waste your time and money with this place.

Food is exceptional for a pub, 100% in-house from scratch and the prices quite reasonable. The homemade crisps were great and my friend's elk burger was sublime. Guiness and other requisite brews on tap. We couldn't skip dessert which was creme Brule and an authentic toffee pudding a la mode. Skip the chain restaurants and support this gem of a local gourmet pub-bistro instead.

Solid pub with tasty food, decent beer selection and a nice patio. Stopped here with my buddy Matt for a brew and a bite, and we had a good time. Decent selection of ~craft Canadian brews. I had the poutine and it was pretty darn good. Matt has the curry, and said it was just fine. Perfect evening to enjoy their tranquil yet friendly patio as well.

You would be amazed in how delicious the food is in this place. Everything is good, the service, the meals, everything!!. Don't miss out the wings on Tuesdays and the Nachos are to die for!!! Probably the best nachos I have ever had in Canada.

I've been meaning to try this restaurant for quite a while now and finally had the opportunity to do so. The Fat Duck definitely lived up to its reputation by providing friendly and polite customer service, several great draught beer options, a comfortable dining area and a unique menu. I had the one piece fish and chips for dinner and the quality of the food satisfied my expectations. I feel as though the menu could be a little more extensive, but other than that I don't have any complaints. This establishment's business hours are very accommodating and the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming and that is my priority when selecting a place to eat.

I have just recently re-discovered this place! Now it is one of the first suggestions I make whenever someone asks "where should we go for dinner?" The special are always amazing! And kudos to the staff for knowing so much detail about each one! I'm sure they change often. On our most recent trip we had a member of our party with a peanut allergy. The effort they made to make sure they did what they could for us was very appreciated! Of course there were the expected limitations with the deep fryer etc. But we had a great time and really appreciated the efforts of the kitchen and serving staff! Thx!

A friend was there the week prior from Toronto and gave a great review for the Vindaloo wings. Today I met my son at Uni and we went for lunch. These wings and sauce were fantastic. Also had a great full size serving of homemade squash soup and my son had a huge bowl of mussels. Nice clean pub atmosphere and friendly service. For sure I will be back to try the beer also. ????

Everything went above expectations. Fish n Chips - fish was cooked well with a nice batter, perfect with lemon and tartar sauce they gave. Meat and Mushroom Pie - delicious flavors and the fries were pretty good as well. Wings - Hot Butter was a great pairing with the blue cheese dip. Sam was a great server as well!

The waitress was lovely but the food took almost 40 minutes to come and it didn't seem like they were really busy. And we can't understand what is going on with their Coke. It doesn't taste like Coke at all. Here's a warning to not order it. The food was delicious, especially their fries. The Monte Cristo was yummy but there way waaay to much ham in it. Less ham and more cheese would be appreciated. Hope they solve the Coke/Pepsi issue because that was really strange.

I was a bit put off by the decor, it was pretty outdated. But I had an amazing Burger, seriously. It's better than any other Burger I have ever had. My boyfriend had a chicken vindaloo wrap. We both agreed that the French fries were the best we had ever had. Really, try this place. We went on a whim today after a hike, and it was a pleasant surprise.

Sorry to say, our last visit here was a disappointment. Food is not as good as it used to be and pop tasted watery. We asked for ingredients due to a food allergy, but our allergic teen had a reaction to the food despite the assurances. Our server was lovely, but the hostess/bartender behaved as though it was a bother to have to seat us and later to use the interac machine. A real shame to see this gem go downhill, even the sign outside is broken. I hope things can be improved!

I was so impressed with The Fat Duck! My husband and I went for dinner this evening. I got the steak and mushroom pie (pictured) and my husband had the Sunday roast. My steak and mushroom pie was literally incredible. The inside had been cooked perfectly (especially the steak… it melted in my mouth). The ingredients were SO well balanced. Homemade puff pastry was fluffy, light and not soggy. The fries were also super tasty. They came out hot and crispy, seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper and I could not stop eating them, even when I was about to burst. The service and atmosphere were also 10/10. Safe to say, we will definitely be back and look forward to tasting more from the menu!

One of my favorite places to eat. This is off the beaten path and seems yet to be discovered by the masses due to it's location. Food is amazing. Best ceasar salad anywhere with huge chunks of smoked bacon. Also highly recommend the meat pies. Also have traditional British pub fare you can't find other places like scotch eggs. Delish.

I think the name of this pub is so cute because I love ducks! Cute name aside, they have good food and drinks, and a warm, casual atmosphere that's easy to relax in. The service I've had here has always been great - friendly, helpful, and professional. My favourite dish I've had here so far is the Indian platter (it has samosas, lamb kebab, pakoras, spring rolls, and tamarind sauce). Great local pub to hang out at with friends!

Five of us had lunch here (all seniors.) They have numerous draft beers (and a wine list that I did not read) ; at lunch, the choice of entrees was a bit limited but they had several others on the blackboard. I had the Philly roast beef (with cheese on it, plus fries and a bit of coleslaw) for $16. This is not an inexpensive place and the beer is not cheap either. But it has a nice, pub-like atmosphere and the service at lunch today was friendly and efficient. Two of our group had the fish and chips (cod) and loved it. So, overall, I gave it four stars.

Fantastic dinner. I had the duck leg and it was cooked to perfection with crispy skin and juicy dark meat. My only complaint is the burly that came along with it was over salted. But overall great experience. My friend had a slice of chicken curry pie which was good too.

The Fat Duck is a BUSY place. We got there at 5pm which was the only reason we were able to squeeze in without a reservation. If you're planning on going on the weekend MAKE A RESERVATION or you WILL be turned away. I guess that speaks to how good it is though. The Caeser Salad was amazing. I loved the thick dressing and the literal chunks of bacon on it. My steak and mushroom pie was also excellent. I highly recommend this place for a fun casual night out with friends but it's also family friendly if you need that.

The Fat Duck is one of my go to resteraunts in Guelph. The food off the menu is always very good and the daily specials are well worth looking at. The in house chutneys and pickles are amazing and it's hard not to order thenploughmans lunch each time because of this ! The service is friendly, and for a gastropub in a strip mall the inside decor and ambiance are delightful. Summer afternoon on the patio with a drink and lunch is always good, and dinner or a date night will provide a great night out.

I have been to the Fat Duck many times over the past few years and always had great service and amazing food. Today we went for a Mothers Day lunch and were disappointed. The restaurant was not busy but it took 45mins to get our food. Our Curry chicken pies came out dry and burnt. The salad had rotten lettuce in it. We sent it back but my husband did not want to reorder. Very disappointed. At least our server was amazing.

I always try and bring friends and family who are visiting Guelph to the Fat Duck. I feel like each time I go, and I’ve gone a lot, it’s a slightly different experience, but that experience is always awesome! The staff are always really great, the menu often changes up a bit and keeps things fresh and the beer is always good! 10/10 recommend

I have a wrap and house salad with my partner for lunch here on the patio this summer. We were seated in an uncomfortable corner by the building with some old machine and a large barrier beside our table. The 'house salad' was literally just lettuce, and the shawarma was not shawarma - it was basic chicken breast. Overall, just an okay experience that just did not meet expectations.

We’ve been here so many times we have now tried everything on the menu except the liver, and everything is incredible. It is a bit of a wait for some foods but wings always come out fast and it’s worth it to wait to get a good steak or curry. It’s generally busy on weekends but we always get a table quickly. They always have interesting specials. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Guelph.

A favourite place to go on Friday night after a long work week. While all your pub favourites are there on the menu, they are made with fresh ingredients and flavorful twists. Scotch eggs, chicken curry pie, beef vindaloo, braised ribs, and fish and chips (gotta love the Fat Chips) are tasty choices. Cozy ambience, friendly servers, and a good bar selection round out the reasons why we are regulars here.

The service took a very long time but the ceaser salad was delicious and the sheppards pie is worth the wait. Nice big portions, had to take half of it home. The pop is awful. I think there is something wrong with the fountain machine. If I go back i won't be getting pop at all.

We keep coming back... I think this was our 3rd visit. We live an hour and a half from Guelph, so that’s saying something! My spouse had the Indian platter and I had the curry special (tandoori butter chicken). I got the roasted tomato soup to start, so half of my butter chicken is coming home with me. Our daughter ate all her Caesar salad and half her chicken fingers (real chicken, not prefab) - those are coming home too. All was great... we will return again next time in Guelph!

Cozy, quaint, nicely furnished classic British pub atmosphere with a concise, varied and delicious menu. Daily specials are nice, decent beer selection and quality food. The bartenders are skilled drink mixers as well.

great restaurant, great service. interesting menu, lots to choose from, good specials, one of those places where no matter what you order it's gonna be good. had the duck and sausage and it was great. prime rib on Sundays is excellent. the Caesar salad was great as well, the bacon "bits" are big chunks of bacon and amazing. waitress did a great job, seemed to anticipate exactly what we needed. definitely recommend. oh also some of the best fries I've ever had.

This place is WOW for wings. Had heard a lot about it and went there to pick some up. Picked the hot butter and sweet chilli jumbo wings on their Tuesday deal. The hot butter was heaven just right on the spice. The sweet chilli was a common flavor. The good part was I was not soaked in sauce but had enough to impart flavor. Couldn't stop eating them!!!! Def recommended

Disappointing on all levels. Arrived around 12...only a few tables in use but apparently they were short of menus so had ones basically out of the printer. Server took about 15 minutes to take drink orders and then another 15-20 to take the food order despite the fact it wasn't really busy at all. Whatever pepsi or coke they serve is awful. Tasted nothing like either. They need to sort out their water supply because the taste is ruined. Tried to order their "large" 2lb wings. Asked if it was possible to get two flavours, one for each pound. Pretty common request and no issue any where else. Here...wouldn't allow it. Won't be back.

I've been going to The Fat Duck since I was in high school years ago. It's still as good now as it was then! If you're looking for delicious giant chicken wings, this is the place to go. They have a fantastic appetizer known as "crisps", which are delivered in a large cone shaped basket, they are basically freshly made potato chips that come with a chipotle mayo (Ask for them to be slightly limp, you may fall in love), They. Are. Amazing. My goto meal here is a nice cold beer, an order of crisps to share with friends, and their large order of dry cajun chicken wings, with a side of chipotle bbq sauce. If you enjoy a balance of relaxing light ambiance, delicious food, and live music (not always playing so if it's not your thing not to worry), this is a great place to get together with friends and have a great night out!

Wonderful little pub, great atmosphere. The perfect place to grab a pint and watch some soccer. The menu is amazing. They offer classic pub foods like fish&chips and meat pies but their menu also includes some finer options, like the ploughman's board. I recommend all three of those options. Keep an eye out for the rubber ducks hidden around! Love this little pub

We had a lovely Sunday brunch . I had the smoked salmon brunch which was unbelievable. My husband had the Fat Duck deluxe breakfast which was beyond excellent. Our friends were extremely pleased with their brunch too. It was lovely sitting on the patio . Our reservation was honoured and we were well distanced from other patrons. Our server was very attentive and competent .We even met a former neighbour from ten years ago!!

The Fat Duck is a BUSY place. We got there at 5pm which was the only reason we were able to squeeze in without a reservation. If you're planning on going on the weekend MAKE A RESERVATION or you WILL be turned away. I guess that speaks to how good it is though. The Caeser Salad was amazing. I loved the thick dressing and the literal chunks of bacon on it. My steak and mushroom pie was also excellent. I highly recommend this place for a fun casual night out with friends but it's also family friendly if you need that.

Do you guys take a Noise control Bylaw exemption? I just find it odd that your website says your establishment is closed at 12am, however the building is still accessible to patrons and filled with patrons at 1:30 am while live music is playing and staff are present. Also couldn't help but notice that this isn't a one off occurance. Which is also odd because the last time this happened I contacted the ownership privately and was told that the live music was a one off celebration.

Not the greatest experience (2017-07-16) Was very disappointed given some of the other reviews. The service was extremely slow (almost 45 min for our entrees and we didn't order appetizers!). We could have forgiven that, but the food was sub par. The grease from the samosas was pooling on the plate - I get that they are deep fried but this was ridiculous - to the point that even after draining for over 5 min, the grease still ran down my hand when trying to eat one. We ended up just trying the filling. The flavour of the duck salad I had was good but the duck was chewy and my husbands fish was the worst he's ever had. The batter itself was overcooked and the fish inside was watery and mushy - really not sure how that was accomplished! It's too bad, as we travel through the area regularly -- but we'll be looking for some other local gem.
