We have the reviews of people like you who consumed the services and products of Artisanale (Restaurant) around Guelph area (Canada).
Now the firm has a score of 4.6 over 5 and the rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is practically the top, and it's based on a large number of opinions, so we can conclude that the valuation is very reliable. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Restaurant.
Yummy food, but the service was just ok, and it was on the costly side. Servers didn't know answers to basic questions about the menu (eg what cheeses are on the cheese platter) and several items were unavailable. Had the service been better, it would have felt more worth the price.
Had just a lovely brunch here. Best brunch I've had...ever? Simple, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Service was warm and on the ball, this is a French style restaurant so don't expect things to be done fast, but they are done right (which I prefer). Bathrooms were also pristine.
Went there over the weekend on a Saturday and they for some reason did not have our reservations even though we had an email confirmation. No matter still got a seat, we ordered our drinks and appetizers and everything came out quickly and the waitress was quite attentive to our needs. Only thing that I was disappointed by was my main which was pork with a vegetable pure - the pork was dreadfully bland which is a shame considering my fiancé's main was very well done. However for something that cost so much I was hoping for a much a better experience and not having to rely on chance.
Great food and atmosphere
Certainly a spot worth visiting, the food is excellent and fresh, the rates are convenient and it is consistently clean here. Kudos.
What a terrific little place. Love the seasonally selected menu and little touches, like the strawberry granita palate cleanser, the beautiful little petits fours, and the perfect tart pastry and ice cream.
Always awesome.
Honestly one of the best dining experiences of my life. I have travelled all over the world and had numerous fine dining experiences, but this place was special. What a gem of a restaurant. The servers were spectacular, the courses were perfectly timed and not rushed, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was off the chart. You MUST try the chicken liver mousse!
There is nothing bad that can be said about this restaurant. It’s fantastic. The food is like dying and going to heaven. It’s all fresh and tastes like it was made by someone’s Mom. I’ve had many meals here, different types of meats and sides, never once have I been disappointed! Magic for sure!!
Little hidden gem serving flavorful food in a quaint quiet location.
A good environment, excellent food, excellent value on the Prix Fixe menu. Service very competent (a rarity these days) We will go again.
Professionally perforated and served French inspired cuisine. A great fine dining experience
Top to bottom everything was phenomenal! Atmosphere, food, service everything was a pleasant experience.
The food and service was wonderful! Will definitely be returning.
Delicious food. Very nice, comfortable French country atmosphere. Nice wines. Staff are warm and friendly.
The pudding chomeur is ridiculous. Do the sugar shack tomorrow, last chance.
We arrived at this spot for dinner. my friend recommended this restaurant. Well, we were not disappointed. we were warmly welcomed by the crew and we had an excellent feeling. The food was just great. We had a great time and we will visit this place again. Warmly recommended.
Delicious food, good service
Good but kinda expensive
Went on Mother's Day. Bad choice. Inattentive service. Small portions. Unimaginative cooking. Very little resemblance to cooking Provencal. Expensive for what you get.
Fantastic French food experience.
Great meal and owner was very friendly. Clean kitchen and very inviting atmosphere.
Probably the best French style restaurant outside of the metro Toronto area. We enjoyed the 5 course asparagus meal today. The asparagus ravioli was especially delicious. The food would not be out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant in Paris.
Nothing French about this place. I've been to France uncountable times since 1993, trust me, this place has nothing to do with the French culinary art. The dishes were far from savoury, viring to mediocrity even. The salad was consisting of lettuce in vinaigrette, the frites were reheated, and I won't even start with the chicken! It was smelly, undercooked and very poorly plated. The host was clumsy, dropped the cutlery all over the floor, nearly missing my head, AND left it there. Not worth it.
The chef is adventurous yet manages to make everything seem like comfort food. Be prepared for delicious!
I absolutely enjoyed the dishes and service, excellent area right next to my house. The workers are always super nice. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing authentic food, great staff and a charming ambience; definitely worth stopping by.
"Great place for exquisite yet simple food. Atmosphere is warm and service is impeccable. Thanks Yasser for bringing this restaurant to Guelph." This is what I wrote last time. I came back and I think the restaurant has lost its roots and why it was created in the first place. The Greek menu was nowhere near what would have been expected. I am as much disappointed as I really enjoyed my last visit. Sorry but I won't come back.
Bland, lackluster, boring, poorly executed food. Everything is covered in salty fresh greens. Even the comp crispy rice truffle wasn't crispy but soggy. I overheard that the chef was away on the Friday evening I was there which is sad because it means that the kitchen staff isn't trained well enough to keep things at a reasonable standard. This isn't French country restaurant-quality cooking. Decent beverage selection though.
The Food Was On Point. I Couldn't resist Diving in, Henceforth No Pictures. Definitely Need to Try and I shall Return to Post Some Incredible Dishes. Perk - Mimosas for Brunch!
Worth trying out. Good service, great food. Too pricey for what it is.
We reserved a table at Artisanale French Country Cooking for our anniversary dinner this year. The restaurant is in a lovely old stone house in downtown Guelph. There are two, comfortable, old world, casual dining rooms and we were seated by a window looking out on a back patio. The restaurant prides itself on a “menu that changes in harmony with the Ontario season, based on (local) farmers' harvests”. They source locally grown produce and meats and serve fish only from sustainable sources. This particular night Artisanale was serving their Alsatian Dinner which featured a prix fixe menu with three choices each of appetisers, entres and desserts that came with a complementary glass of Reisling.
Definitely one of the nicer dining settings in Guelph. The owner's passion and love for the dining experience he present shines through as he personally introduces many people who are visiting for the first time. The complimentary palette cleansers and dessert biscuits are also quite appreciated. The food is very French and provides many unique flavours and food palettes that are hard to find in other restaurants around the area. That being said, the service times are a bit slow and that is an unfortunate shortcoming. The setting is nice enough that it's still an enjoyable and comfortable meal but for some, it could be something that deters them. All in all, it's still definitely worth a try for anyone who hasn't been yet and is looking for a more upscale dining experience in Guelph!
Amazing food, great service
Awesome
We were not impressed with our dining experience here at all. It seemed that almost every menu item we requested to order was no longer available. We ended up just asking what they still had left and went with that. We will not be coming back
Attentive but not intrusive service and delicious food.
Excellent food
Excellent food prepared simply but to a high standard.
I was a chef in my earlier years and I am incredibly disappointed with most fine dining restaurants. Artisanale prepares delicious classics and innovative dishes from scratch ! I regularly bump into the chef during my Guelph shopping route for artisan products. Their wine selection pairs well. I also enjoy their lunch, and we take advantage weekday for their take out family meals (provide 2 hrs notice).
Relaxed French fare.
Awesome food, awesome service, sat on the back porch, was very nice!
Delicious meal, attentive but unabtrusive service, great atmosphere.
Had a lovely dinner. Service was great, food was exceptional. We will be back for sure
If you really love high quality food, this is the place to go. The staff their love food, they love people that love food and they love serving people that appreciate what it goes into a meal! I love it there!
Delicious food and lovely ambiance. At times the service can be slow but was great this time.
Lovely spot for brunch. The food was delicious! With so many great choices it was difficult to decide. It would be great if they could make the tea a bit stronger ????. The service was friendly too.
Food was exquisite...
Absolutely delicious, I've wanted to go here for quite some time after seeing it on my drive home. It was worth the wait, although unfortunate that our first time was during COVID this year. The atmosphere is intimate and the team there were all friendly and personable. The food is delicious and fills the soul! I can't wait to go back again!
Unique food. Price fixe days are awesome
The menu had some very different and delicious selections especially going as party of 4 or more was excellent night out. Great atmosphere as well.
The food was excellent as was the atmosphere. A true french restaurant.
Excellent coffee and great food. Because everything is freshly made it takes time for the food to arrive.
Wonderful locavor food. The wine list is organic and biodynamic! The décor is french country, but more upscale.
Delicious food, friendly staff and a beautiful atmosphere.
Hard to find words to describe our visit. The meal was exquisite. The atmosphere was comfortable and impressive. So many little details added to the whole experience. Staff was friendly and attentive as well as very courteous and authentic. Yasser you are a top notch chef and we were thoroughly blown away with the whole experience. We will be recommending your restaurant to all our friends and acquaintances. Too bad it took so long to find out you hadn't closed up shop but only moved down the street. Many thanks to all who made the evening (which happened to be our 10 year wedding anniversary celebration) such a memorable event. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Mike and Val Doyle
Unique selection and perfect portions. Went on a Tuesday for their "prix fixe". The wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our choices.
The atmosphere was lovely. The menu appeared to be good but the delivery and plates were very disappointing.
Great spot with a diverse menu and friendly people. Always the highlight of my day any time I get to eat here.
The food is delicious and the service, excellent!
I ordered a gift card on a Thursday or Friday and I was told it would arrive on Tuesday, as I specifically told them I needed it before the Thursday. I was then charged $5 (why would they not tell me it would be sent to Canada Post). It never a arrived and now I am out a gift and $105. They told me they would get in contact with me, but I am still waiting! I called the restaurant twice and the second time the owner yelled and freaked out at me.
This place always delivers. They have fresh dishes for reasonable pricing, there are no long waits even when the place is busy.
We enjoyed a family takeout dinner tonight and everything was excellent. Thank you for the hearty meal.
Consistently excellent. Along with La Cucina, the two best restaurants in Guelph.
Great food, great personal service, timely service, the perfect dining experience. Not my first time - consistently good food.
Amazing food. Yasser serves French country food with the hand of a master. Rabbit croquettes, chicken liver mousse were spot on. Fresh Mackerel "ceviche" a treat. Roast Suckling pig cooked to perfection! Served with frites, the best in the city! Apple galette, creme Catalina( a brulee) all delicious! Impressive meal, great execution. Great French Savignon blanc ! Thanks to all the staff.
amazing...nothing here that I can do myself, unless I quit my job and learn some more skills. Great experience, loved the food, and thanks for making the affordable wednesdays!
Good food and cozy venue. Service was a bit slow though.
A great return visit after too long a time away, owing to our move to Toronto. Still Guelph's best restaurant, with an inventive menu and cozy ambience. Thanks for a very memorable meal.
Outstanding French country cooking. Best meal I've had in years. Very personal service makes you feel like you are at a friends home, but none of my friends can cook like this! Rich hearty dishes without pretension. 5 course meal: tasting bites, shared charcuterie or cheese or salmon plate, appetizer, main, and dessert ($50-70 per person) plus drinks. Mostly French wine list (as I would expect) bottles between $45 & $150 Highly recommend this place
Amazing service and incredible food.
This was the best meal I have ever had at a restaurant—ever. Not only was the food and wine phenomenal, the service was great. I cannot recommend Arisanale enough. We can't wait to go back!
Lovely place for an excellent lunch or dinner. Highly recommended!!
Absolutely delicious. Best Lamb I've ever had. Worth every penny!
Artisanale is my FAVOURITE restaurant in Guelph. The food is always delicious!!!
Our experience was basically spot on with most of the other good reviews. Nice ambience. The staff seemed well trained for the most part. HOWEVER...the food (which is why most people attend French oriented restaurants) was indeed unimaginative and uninspired. Bland, and completely unimaginative, every salad felt as though they took good ingredients and wrecked it with Kraft salad dressing. Fish was nice, but seemed to be paired with McCain fries which were ultra bland. They were out of duck when we went - but judging by other reviews this might have been a blessing in disguise. I absolutely refuse to believe that anyone who has “worked in Michelin restaurants” had anything to do with cooking or setting a menu in this place. It’s just not possible. To sum up, this is pretty much a place that is neither filled with French food, inspired by France, or reminiscent of anything that French cooking stands for. It’s what would happen if someone bought really good ingredients and then tried to recreate a McDonald’s menu with them.
From the owner right down, the staff was warm knowledgeable and helpful. Food came out at a pace that felt just right, we where allowed to enjoy our meal never rushed nor waiting for the next course. As for the food it's was well prepared and each of the dish tasted great. The bottle of wine we chose to drink with the food was delicious. We top the evening with a wonderful coffee only as there was no room left for dessert, Will be back to enjoy more in the near future.
Long wait times, but well worth it. Excellent food!
Decent food, terrible wait times, high prices, small portions and inattentive staff make for a very subpar dining experience.
Very fresh and tasty
We had such an incredible evening at Artisanale! The tapas menu was extraordinary and the staff was accommodating, pleasant, and helpful. Best choice for an intimate date or a party of 12. Thanks Artisanale!
Foody heaven. Brunch - perfectly poached egg and salmon on a crispy rosti. Eggs Benedict on brioche. Belgian waffle w/ peach. Crepes w/ apricot compote.
Always great food, amazing service and a nice atmosphere
Fabulous lunch!
The Artisanale has been in business for many years with good reason. It's spectacular. Low key, quiet, and cozy ambiance combined with a nice selection of unique dishes combine for a wonderful dining experience. The appetizers and main courses all came with a festival of flavours, and our server was friendly and helpful. This will be my new "special night out" go to place.
I often take my friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go their often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the food there is tasty and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative. always when we eat in this place we enjoy a pleasant evening. warmly recommended.
Amazing food with a seasonal changing menu. Fantastic food and fantastic service from friendly courteous staff. We made a reservation for 7pm on an evening they had planned to close early (we didn't find this out until after). They stayed open to accommodate our requested time. I'm VERY impressed.
Celebrated 1 yr anni. here, and it was perfect. Fresh food and good service. Highly recommended.
Very authentic French food. The chef's time in France is paying off. Beautiful atmosphere.
Such a fantastic experience hosting my mothers birthday here. Great service, beautiful setting and the food was excellent. Nice touch… the chef came out to ask how our dinner was at the end. Highly recommended
Friendly, excellent service, clean, great ambiance. Food delicious but more Mediterranean tones than French.
Probably the best in Guelph!
We love going out. Last night we went to this delicious restaurant which we didn’t know before. We had a beautiful experience there with fine cooking and an efficient stuff and a great chef. We put this place in our list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. We warmly recommend.
We came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. The food was fairly good - the eggs were okay, definitely some of the better poached eggs I've had in a restaurant. The waffles were excellent. The service was okay, they were friendly but could have been more attentive especially since the restaurant was almost empty except for us. The decor and ambiance of the space was lovely though, and the food was far better than anything you would get in any chain restaurant. Definitely worth trying out.
Excellent food, fantastic service
The food here is absolutely first-rate.
Food is good but service is unprofessional. 2 tries and we won’t be back. Good food deserves professional service and this restaurant did not deliver. 15 minutes to be acknowledged, 45 minutes for food. Tables that ordered and arrived after us were serviced before us while ignoring our table.
(Translated) Nice place great food (Original) Приятное место отличная кухня
My Husband and I stumbled upon this gem this past Saturday, we did not have a reservation but thought we would give it a try. To our pleasure, we were seated. Let me tell you how happy I am that we found this place. The restaurant is very intimate and charming, with a touch of rustic to it. I like the fact that it isn't a HUGE place, and reminds me of places in France. The service was exceptional and I love the fact that the Chef/Owner greeted us and gave us some background on the foods, inspiration etc. Our dinner was absolutely delicious – we ate every last bite. Would HIGHLY recommend this place and I cannot wait to return again.
One of the best restaurants in Guelph. Great food and wine selection. Would recommend
Lovely ambiance with delicious foods...
Great food and the menu updates seasonally. Nothing but great experiences here, from simple dinner dates to valentine's day and we even had our wedding reception here.
Guelph's little hidden gem. I was surprised to find such a fascinating cuisine in Guelph, the service is excellent, they use mostly local ingredients and have a good wine collection. Very nice place to have a date night or private event.
The food is usually quite good, the service is OK, but the chairs are rather uncomfortable, and sometimes the music seems a little off for the French country vibe.
We sat on the patio in the back. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Service was fantastic - very attentive without being obstructive. Food was fantastic. I had the roast chicken with caponata - that caponata was amazing. Also tried the Japanese peppers - I’m glad we did. Very tasty.
A wonderful gem in downtown Guelph. Entering the restaurant is a like travelling to the French countryside. The food is carefully prepared and thoughtfully presented. Lunch is a great deal. Dinner is pricier but worth it. It is a great location for a big date or to celebrate an occasion. Highly recommended.
After my first time going to this restaurant I was blown away by the quality, decor and atmosphere! The food is cooked very nicely (but can be a bit over seasoned in my opinion and could do with less salt- especially on the duck confit). The outdoor patio in the back is perfect for summer and is totally accessible which is a huge bonus. The desserts are a star here- fresh and tasty without being too sweet. We are going to book Artisanale for our wedding reception after just one visit because it has that perfect farm to table vibe that is so endearing.
An amazing evening. So happy to have discovered Artisanale! Delicious food and such a cozy atmosphere. Looking forward to returning with my kids for their call-ahead 5:00 family dinner.
I tried this place in the past with my friend and I am addicted since then. I like the excellent atmosphere and tasty food and beverages. Highly recommended.
The menu and service were ahead of my expectations. We absolutely liked the vibes of this place. Great spot to take the family out for dinner.
What a great little place, how did I not know of it. We went hoping for the prix-fixed menu, which is only Wednesday and Thursday. We decided to stay and the owner comes over and explains his restaurant, which was very nice and welcomed. We order some Tawse Riesiling (tasty) and Maddie made me her version of a Long Island Ice Tea ( also very tasty). The food is delicious and service always with a smile. People say it's slow but that's the ambience of Artinisale.....I will be back!!
There were tables available. She took two look at us and turned us away
Great food and atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, I would highly recommend it.
Great food, atmosphere and price point. Loved the small plates which allow you to try a bunch of things before the entree. Friendly service - I'd go back again and am interested in trying their family dinners!
They have great locally sourced food, we went there on our anniversary. Only remark was that we got rushed out to make room for the next patrons.
A local favorite in Guelph. Simple and traditional recipes combine with local ingredients to create the most flavorful courses in the area. The occasional dinner events provide small views into the different gastronomic flavors of France or will take you back to your favorite French holiday.
Quiet and amazing good.
Exceptional food and service, as always. It is such a pleasure to dine with you, particularly now that dining out happens less and we value it even more. Thank you for the quality, effort and care.
The food quality was great, everything was cooked perfectly (rice, beef bourguignon, potato, veg...). Very simple and old french soul food recipes rather than the overdone rich and fatty gastronomique fare every cook is forced to learn. Staff were pleasant and came when needed without having to be flagged down and without hovering. Would go back.
Love this restaurant. Was our first time for brunch. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. There is no comparison in Guelph for taste and quality.
Quaint atmosphere and beautiful food.
From the ambience of the comfortable setting to the food to the service, Artisanale exceeded our expectations in every way. My sister and I have spent time in southern France. The food at Artisanale was the best French cuisine we have had in Canada. The service was attentive but relaxed with none of the pretensions of some high end restaurants in Toronto. The setting was very reminiscent of a rustic French home. And in the French manner, we were not rushed. A delightful evening!
Our whole experience at Artisanale was wonderful. The staff were welcoming, accomodating, and thoughtful, and the food was divine. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday morning and brunch!
Delicious food and great atmosphere

Great evening, the food, the service, the environment, the people. All fabulous. Try it. You’ll love it.
Consistently good food and service. I like their commitment to local ingredients and sustainable ingredients.
wonderful food as always, lovely atmosphere, divine wine list.
Excellent food, high quality ingredients with great service.
My most favourite restaurant in Guelph. The menu changes on the daily, the food is local and made with such love and care. We love the little touches that Artisanale has thought of. Highly recommended.
Always great!
We had a celebratory birthday lunch here. The food and ambiance was superb.
Very expensive for what you get. A bit hoitie-toity for my tastes.
The food was exquisite! Tried oysters for the first time here and am now addicted. The atmosphere is very romantic and cozy. Staff is really friendly and kind. They were also super good with Covid protocols, we felt really safe eating here. Lovely lovely lovely!
Why this restaurant didn’t make the list for the most romantic restaurants in Canada is beyond me. Just shared a wonderful Romantic Valentine’s day dinner with my wife, the dinner was served tapas style, to be shared, with many wonderful different flavors, styles and textures, simply delicious. The Meal was delicious, we were hard pressed to decide which our favorite. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in the Guelph area.
What a nice experience I lived in this restaurant, the food is so delicious and is so warming the owners attention to the clients, I had a very pleasant evening. Highly recommended...
Great place
Elegant yet homey. Classy yet inviting. Artisanale offers such a unique and lovely dining experience. The atmosphere is intimate and the food, of course, is delightful. This is Guelphs “fancy dinner” spot.
Dynamite food and service. Bravo.
The night absolutely fantastic. The restaurant atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, the staff was very professional and good at making an immersive experience. We were late on our reservations and called them in advance letting them know and they were very accommodating to our later arrival time. Everything about it was top notch, and we will be returning soon!
Made a reservation for 6 for my daughters birthday. None of us had ever been at the restaurant before so it was a bit of a chance. Everything from the appetizers to the desert was absolutely fabulous. The service was spot on as we enjoyed a lengthy 3 hour meal with lots of chatter, laughter and much consumption of wine. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. Will definitely be back again with friends in tow.
The food is amazing!
Food are yummy at reasonable prices. Liked it!
Wow. The owner and staff here are above and beyond. Our family wanted to have a dinner together to celebrate the passing of a family member after the funeral today. We had made a reso but there was a mix up and another private party had booked the restaurant. When we showed up they were able to accommodated our party and we had a very memorable and nostalgic evening. The staff, ambiance and food is amazing! A must experience. To the staff and owner, thank you so very much.
I have called three (3) times to get a reservation....I left a message everytime and I haven't heard back from them. Very frustrating
Food was good. The waiter mixed up our orders in the kitchen. He ordered a hamburger instead of steak. The owner offered to cook another steak which we declined due to time limitations. Then we discovered that the waiter also forgot to place an order for another of my guests. The forgotten food came late and I asked for a salad for this guest as everyone else's food had arrived. They didn't charge for the salad. The 18% gratuity was charged on the bill already. This tip was not warranted. I was disappointed as it was a staff appreciation lunch but didn't want to make a fuss in front of my guests.
Michele and I had a wonderful experience at your restaurant. The staff was very nice and professional. Yasser the owner did a wonderful job explaining the tappas menu and paired it with an excellent wine. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to going back.
I am new in Durham region, moved here just a couple months ago. In Feb was my husband's birthday and I didn't know where to buy his birthday cake from. I did a little research and found this place, reviews were great. Everyone said that it was the best cake they have ever had. So I checked out their website and wanted to decide which cake I should buy. There were sooo many options and so I couldn't decide.
Delicious food and great service. I love it.
Tonight we went out to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Without a doubt, it was THE FINEST meal we have enjoyed in a long time. All and all it was a great experience. Chef/Owner Yasser is very friendly and greets you at your table to outline the menu and answer your questions. His passion clearly shows through in the dishes. Our server was very warm, professional and efficient. If you are looking for fine food in a relaxed atmosphere without the airs some fine dining establishments tend to have, this is it. We will certainly be back.
Enjoyed a lunch with colleagues this past week. Service staff was very friendly and did a great job of serving the wine we had brought for the occasion. As always, the food was solid....a little bit of France in downtown Guelph! Everything is nice and clean. Highly recommend.
Quite disappointed with our meal here. We were a party of 6 . The appetizers were good, some salads, tapenade and I had a chicken mousse. The entrees however were a disappointment to 5 of us out of the 6 present. 2 people had halibut done baked in a ramekin with mashed potatoes. They both agreed they thought it was quite bland. 2 people had cornish hen and both had to send it back because it was underdone. I had cassoulet and I must say it was one of the most insipid dishes that was ever tried to be passed off as cassoulet. It was basically white beans, carrots and bread crumbs with a little smoked bacon in it. There was no duck leg (or much duck at all for that matter), nothing resembling a pork sausage, it was quite small and cost $30. I compare this to the excellent cassoulet that one can order at Le Select in Toronto that is a real version of the famous dish. I have made it better at home myself. The last person had roast duck with lentils and cabbage and she was happy with her food. A few folks had desert that they seemed reasonably happy with. The shining light in this whole experience was our waitress. She was very good, knowledgeable and efficient. I have eaten at this place several times before with much better results but it will be quite a while before I go back. For the prices charged the food should be much superior.
Great food. Great to bring kids to...they even have toy shelf for kids get toys to play with at table. Will return many times!
The place is ..... I wrote my first review about this place in novemberish 2018 and the short of it was that I gave 2 stars and said despite the good food...the service was really bad. The owner wrote the really genuine and honest note below and we did go back and had a very good experience. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Everything was great. I'm very happy that Artisanale responded to my initial review and that we had a very good return experience. Our faith in this great place has been restored.
Fresh well made french cooking. Our waiter was friendly attentive and not pushy. The meals are small portions of good food. The appetizers were perfect size that did not fill you up before the main course No need to share them. Our mains were delicious. I was looking forward to a creme brulee but they had creme Catalan which was not the same. Great food. Great wine. Attentive service French Grenache Cassoulet tasty with crispy edges Rotating seasonal menu
What a great experience :) The staff was fantastic and the food was 12/10. Can't wait to go again. And the 3 course meal for 35 dollars is such an amazing deal. Highly recommend.
Can be hit or miss but more often than not its my favorite restaurant
Wonderful service and amazing food!
The food tastes really fresh. Lots of options for vegetarians as well! Waiter attentive and helpful.
The service was great and the atmosphere very pleasant. The unfortunate part was the menu on the night we came. We were informed that only a few items were available from the regular menu, and that they had a special "Greek tapas" menu. We decided to try the special. We were expecting small portions at an upscale restaurant offering a fine dining experience, however the food was mediocre and the portions incredibly small. We feel that we got terrible value and left hungry.
Food was absolutely incredible. The service and staff were great. It was our first there and we will definitely be going back!
We had a fabulous evening out! Service was great and the food is one of the best in Guelph.
We enjoyed a takeout dinner from Artisanale last night. The chicken, potatoes, salad verte and apple pie were all delicious. Although we cannot presently enjoy a meal at Artisanale, it is wonderful that we can still enjoy the fabulous food. It was just the treat that we needed during these difficult times.
Fantastic. If you’re tired of places with menu descriptions better than their food (seemingly adding ingredients like “truffle” or adjectives like “___ infused” to give their offerings an heir of quality that the product itself lacks), then this is the place for you. The unpretentious surroundings, are mirrored on the menu. My “Rabbit Croquettes” (these are the full descriptions) were perfectly fried spheres of deliciousness. The “Pasta with Cauliflower and Mousseron”, was comprised of pasta made in-house that day, in a cream sauce, with cheese that was devine. The service was also exceptional, while still unobtrusive. I understand why the menu listings are so minimal - the food at Artisinale is beyond description. This is the best restaurant in Guelph, and possibly the best French cuisine in the Golden Horseshoe.
We had a fantastic time and meal!!! Such a great atmosphere. Yasser, Thank you for your attention to detail and personally walking us through the menu. Les and Alisa June 3, 2016
I just want to let everyone know out this restaurant. Went tonight for my anniversary and I could not be more happy with my experience. everyone from the staff to the owner lives and breathes what it means be in the service industry. The service was top notch and only surpassed by the amazing food that made its way to our table. I will be back and will being friends. Thanks again for a great night.
As always Great
Excellent food and ambience.
We had a wonderful evening. The servers were friendly and charming, and the food was delicious. The courses were wonderfully spaced out - not too fast, giving us time to linger over each dish, but not so slow that we felt we were waiting for food. It was lovely to go to a restaurant and not be burdened with a massive menu - to be able to sit and just eat, and to eat the same things as everyone else at our table, made for a warm and happy family experience.
Pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Fresh and great tasting menu choices. We will go back again!
Excellent fresh, locally sourced food! We have been to Artisanale a handful of times over the past 5 years and each experience leaves us eagerly awaiting the next visit. Service, selection, and quality are top-notch!
I live in a town about 45 min from Guelph that has a much more “prestigious” (i.e. higher priced and “fancier”) French restaurant...but I routinely visit Artisanale with my wife and family because I like the food and atmosphere much more. If French country-style cooking is what you enjoy — or you are curious to know more about it; the staff there are great at explaining the dishes — I highly recommend you give it a try.
Artisanale is flavour country cooking. A must try.
We had been to Artisanale for brunch before and had a great experience, but finally got to go there for dinner last night - it did not disappoint! We got the chicken liver mousse to start, which was different but the flavours were super fresh and delicious. We both got burgers for our mains and the patties were super juicy and flavourful. We finished the meal off with the peach pie and the creme caramel, which were honestly some of the best desserts I’ve ever had. On top of that our server was great! Attentive but not too chatty, which was perfect for our date night.
Yasser and his team hosted us for our wedding diner in November of 2018 and it was incredible. From the beginning he was great at communicating with us, going over what our options were as well as working with our timing from our wedding venue. He had some great suggestions for decorations (we used Blooms and Flora, a nearby vendor for flowers - also great), as well as food & drink recommendations. The event itself was flawless; everything was perfectly timed and the service was impeccable. The price we paid for the service was actually very reasonable compared to what you would pay for elsewhere. (Aside: we looked at several options for semi-private dining in Guelph and for a group of our size (24) there were very few places that offer private dining in Guelph). 10/10 would do again. Thank you to Yasser and the team at Artisinale!
Excellent food and service.
This is our favourite spot for dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing and intimate, the host and staff always make us feel welcome, and the food is to die for. We have never had a so-so experience at Artisanale. If you haven’t tried it you are missing out!
really good cuisine that is quite different from the norm. most dnjoyable evening
AMAZING FOOD! Absolutely must go. Delicious homestyle French food. I haven't had a thing there that hasn't wowed me. The Bruch brussel sprouts are absolutely incredible and so is the baked haddock and steak hache. The staff are friendly and I would trust their recommendations with absolute confidence. If you are looking to experience french Goodin a cozy, casual atmosphere, this is it. Great for date nights, casual treat yourself dinners and brunch, I can't rave about this place enough!
Absolutely exquisite!!!
Delicious food, fantastic atmosphere (low key excellence), love the concept of the pre selected tapas menu - had some delicious food I normally wouldn’t select! One of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time (obviously first time here), can’t wait to go back!
Always great food lovely atmosphere
Lovely ambiance
The best restaurant in Guelph hands down
Simple but very tasty
I just had dinner at this place 2 hours ago and I have to say im extremely disappointed with the service received. I moved to guelph almost four years ago and I've always wanted to dine at this restaurant because of the comments I have heard from friends. I finally decided to go to this restaurant for my birthday and after dining here tonight, I can definitely say that all that excitement that was building inside of me for the last few years was for nothing and I will never dine here again. The food was decent but small portions. What really bothered me though was the wait time and the inattentive staff. There were two tables that were seated after us and both tables were served dinner and finished their service almost half an hour before we did. It took over 1.5 hours to get dinner that my husband and I contemplated getting up and leaving several times. I couldnt tell if the problem was with the kitchen or the waitress, or if they just didnt care about customer service. The funny thing was it wasnt even that busy at this place. We were so frustrated that we did not even wait for the bill because we were afraid it would take almost 20 minutes to get the bill. We were planning to go for a movie afterwards and we had to cancel our plans just because of the slow service received at this place. We were not even asked once by the waitress if everything was okay with the service. Anyway, if you are looking for a place to dine in guelph that offers good food and good service, keep your money and go somewhere else.
Unbelievable food in a wonderful intimate atmosphere.
The owner of this restaurant still has a few things to learn . Please read the negative reviews....they matter more than the good ones. Why? Because they can help your business be better. It appears that you are fine with just sailing along but the negative reviews are hurting you. The first concern I would address is the INATTENTIVE staff (every negative review mentions this going back a few years) You are running a business where people are paying you for an experience ....ie. good food and service. This place will let you down on both aspects. Here is our story...Attended Saturday January 26, 2019 evening with a reservation for 2 . We were seated and we reviewed the menu. Great they use local produce etc etc. Our appetizer was the charcuterie board...we ve had many in Toronto restaurants. The waiter , an older gentleman....just drops it on the table with no explanation as to what the meats etc were. If they are local produce and meats why not point out what we are about to eat. (That would be excellent customer service at no cost to you except 30 seconds of the waiters time) we tasted a couple of meats which we loved but every time we wanted to ask what they were nobody was around....of course after a few more tries to talk to a staff memeber ....why even bother trying. Now the charcuterire board had a good variety but no bread or any time of biscuit or crackers to enjoy the rest of it. We ordered wine and I had a coke since i was driving....why would you bring out the can ...was Compliments brand from No Frills or Loblaws. Maybe it doesn't matter to you but it does leave a bad impression for a higher end "French restaurant" . Would you like to hear about the meals ? Hmmmmmm....terrible ! One was the duck and the other the Steak hache.....I will not dwell into how bad they were because the other negative reviews are spot on about the taste , presentation etc etc. I read one of owners responses that states "we pay double for the organic and local produce."to justify the higher prices . Im fine with paying a higher price BUT why would you do such a bad job with such excellent ingredients ????? I can see Chef Ramsay reviewing the food and spitting it out after the first taste test. Yes it s that bad. We would never even try to give this restaurant a second chance if they don't pay attention to what seems to be a real problem with inattentive staff and the presentation and taste of the cafeteria food. We write reviews once in awhile both positive and negative reviews. Always with the intention of letting others know of the excellent experience or to protect the customer from a big let down. To all those that listen to us....You re very welcome....
Perfectly delicious French cooking!
Food and service was amazing.
Overpriced
Easily one of the top 5 restaurants in Guelph. We often go Wednesdays for their prix fixe menu and it rarely disappoints us.
Where do you I began? First of all, the service was friendly and efficiant although we came during peak hours. We didn't feel neglected or forgotten about for one moment. Secondly, this was truly one of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure of eating. This was the kind of meal that nearly made me lick my plate because I just could not get enough. Everything was fresh and seasonal. I could taste the thoughtfulnes and love that was poured into the construction of each dish. I have had some pretty bad experiences with eggplant - and they somehow took a usually lackluster and monotone vegetable and turned it into a crunchy, flavourful, creamy delecacy. The atmosphere was everything that I look for in a restaurant; cozy and nostalgiac. I felt as if I was sitting in my moms kitchen. This establishment sets the bar. I look forward to returning in the future with friends and family! Thank you so much for the incredible culinary experience!
Top quality food & service. The asparagus mimosa salad and the Spelt Fettucine with morels, asparagus & leeks knocked our socks off! As the menu depends on what is available locally the menu items can change daily. We enjoyed 2 dinners at Artisinale during a 4 night stay in Guelph. The rooms feel small & intimate. A couple got engaged on our second night! The servers were very friendly & helpful with tips for us out of towners.
We had a wonderful evening. It had been some time since we've had a chance to go out for dinner and spend some time reconnecting. From the moment we walked in the door I knew we had come to the right place. Beginning from the explanation of what the restaurant wants to do to highlight local organic foods to the fine dining service to the cozy atmosphere and the incredible food. We were there in casual wear and we felt completely comfortable. I couldn't help but notice there were other people there in far more formal wear who looked to feel just as comfortable as we felt. To be able to create that kind of atmosphere is something quite unique. We will be sure to recommend you to anyone who is looking for that kind of experience. You have created a gem. Thank you so much.
Visting from out of town and glad we tried Artisanale. It was completely enjoyable and we went back the next eveing. Chef Yasser is charming and talented. Solid wine recommendations to go with fresh natural and delicious cooking. Going back soon. Lastbatch
Portions sizes are small, food isn't all that good. I can get higher class food at a bar.
Absolutely delectable!! Loved it ????
This restaurant was excellent. Let me start by saying that the downside is that the location is a little difficult to get to. It can easily be missed. It's definitely small, it's operated essentially as a house so it's easy to just drive right past it.We got inside, and it's very quaint, nicely spaced out, definitely warm and cozy.
Excellent food and services. Consistently good dishes from appetizers to dessert to drinks. Will be back again!
We all enjoyed our experience at Artisanale a great deal. It was everyone in our party's first time at your restaurant. It is obvious as soon as you enter the doors that great attention is being paid to all aspects of your experience. The decor is nice, comfortable and consistent with the restaurant theme. Top quality ingredients were used in both the food and the drinks and the service was also top notch. It is obvious that there is a passion in the staff to maintain the mission of the restaurant. From the owner to the servers everyone is attentive, cheerful and very helpful to make your experience at Artisanale the best it can be. .
Great food, great service and great advice on selections including wine! The staff were friendly and attentive. The owner and servers gave us advice on all items we chose including the option to have 1 1/2 appetizers for our group of 3. The Digby Scallops were perfect and fresh, and the patatas bravas were like being in Spain. Younger kids were present and fit in. We were not rushed in any way. This is an experience worth repeating.
Good food, interestimg menu, nice decore, not bad service.
Yasser offers regional dinners. Last night's was from the Alsace region. Now, pickerel is delicious, but I wasn't sure of it's pairing with sauer kraut. I discovered later that this region of France has close ties to Germany...hence the pairing. Four courses. All delicious. In defense of this restaurant, reading some of the bad reviews....it looks like someone has a 'bone to pick' with the owner. Do not let this cloud your impression. We have dined in/had brunch/done takeout/ordered food for another family and it was always consistently good.
This was our first time to Artisinale and we loved it. The food was incredible and the wine list provides quite a few options. The atmosphere was quaint and charming. It's definitely a neighbourhood gem. We'll be back.
I hadn't been to Artisinale for some time and forgot how delicous every morsel tastes. I ordered the Socca which is a chick pea pancake filled with vegetables and goat cheese. Every mouthful was a savoury experience. The atmosphere is elegant and cosy all at once. Every time I dine there it feels like a treat, not just a meal.
Had Mother's Day lunch at Artisanale this past weekend and let me tell you: this is probably the best restaurant in Guelph right now. The food is incredible, from taste, to quality of ingredients, right down to the presentation. The staff was kind, accommodating, and were clearly doing their best to keep everyone happy despite the place being extremely busy. I look forward to coming back and spending my money there. Since the restaurant has limited seating (the cozy vibe is on point), I'd also highly recommend making reservations in advance just in case.
Great service fantastic food comfortable ambiance in an old stone house
The food and atmosphere are phenomenal, and the $35 prix fixe menu made it a wonderfully affordable celebratory dinner. Merci beaucoup, Artisanale!
Came for brunch. Was our first time won't be the last. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Lovely restaurant. Thoughtful and delicious food. Full of heart. Love Artisanale!
Service was excellent. Went for brunch with 6 other people, we were all very happy with our meals. Clean, comfortable atmosphere.
Welcoming atmosphere. Delicious food
The food was absolutely unique and delicious, and the service was impeccable. The pride that the owner/chef has in his work translates to every component of the meal and the dining experience. Go here - you will not be disappointed.
Great spot for brunch. A little more pricey than your average breakfast spot but totally worth it. Good quality fresh ingredients.
Great burger, cooked perfectly to medium rare and lovely atmosphere.
Amazing time here for our wedding reception. The food is top notch and the staff was very friendly and helpful accommodating our event. Can’t wait to go back!
Exactly what we needed tonight! Great food, wine, and service.
Perfect evening and lovely tapas menu! This is a very special restaurant. Check out the menu online before reserving! It's a bit like visiting a friend's home - you get served what they have lovingly prepared. Great place for "date night" or special event.
The meal came to around $130 after tax for 4 drinks, an appetizer, two mains and two desserts. Definitely worth it! Hope to be back again soon.
This place was really cozy and had next level food! We went for a Sunday brunch and the food was amazingly delicious. We would have tried everything on the menu if we could! It definitely exceeded our expectations. The service was great too. Highly recommended.
Loved going. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere and staff where outstanding. Can't wait to go back
