My first time at the Sawmill Grande Prairie. Had a 12 oz prime rib with garlic mashed potato. Delicious. Atmosphere is very relaxed with wonderful staff. Service was wonderful. Food price is also reasonable and very filling. Restrooms are okay too.

We went for a spontaneous anniversary dinner with our 5 (yes FIVE!) kids last night. The hostess seemed a bit surprised (and snobby) that we would show up with no reservation at dinner time, but we figured it was Monday night so whats the big deal. The manager was standing right there and he stepped in with reassurance that it would only take about 5 minutes to get a table together and we could just wait, pheewww, thanks! The table was great, the atmosphere was quiet and lovely. Our server treated each of our children with respect calling them "miss" and "sir". Our kids are just normal kids, we don't go crazy drilling them on table manners, they are ages 11, 9, 6,3,and 1. I honestly believe that because the atmosphere was so nice and because the server treated us so well that the kids just acted better because they knew it was worth it. I used to be a server and I seriously couldn't stand serving kids, they are so messy, their parents are so annoying, and I know I just wasn't patient, I just didn't have a clue. Now that I'm a parent I have so much respect for people like our server last night, he was so patient and kind. If he was annoyed he sure didn't show it, he was very professional. The food was good, but it was the server that really blew us away.

Sat for 20mins waiter walked past 3 times and the lady behind the bar kept looking over yet not a single person came to serve us I even waved yet nothing, was not too happy we ended up leaving to Boston pizza and was helped as soon as we entered. For the price wouldn't reccomend.

Order an 12 oz prime rib from door dash and the rib was so hard I can’t even bite it. I tied to use steak knife to cut it and it didn’t even cut through. I called the restaurant and the manager said I don’t see your food and I can’t take your word for it……. Can’t believe that’s how they deal with complaints and how they treat the customers! So total order costs me $48.63 went down to the drain.

The Server tends to pay more attention to the Higher paying customers then to non high paying customers. LITTLE foes she know i could walk in there tomorrow with 10 friends averaging a total bill of 15 - 2000$ and i garentee if she was good waitress her tip would have been no less then 400-500$..So so so disgusted. She also pays ZERO attention to the Vlt customers.. 18 min the first time i waited for service refusing to help me. 10 min later stood there for 38 min. Never been so disgusted with a establishment in my life.

Went out for date night on Halloween night Oct 31st. I live in Winnipeg and am used to GREAT restaurants. The Sawmill has all the great requirements i love. Low music (quiet) unlike the Keg,Moxie's,Tony Roma's etc.. The drinks were great,service was GREAT and our meals were excellent. Prime rib was cooked to perfection,and the Yorkshire pudding was exceptional. Wish we had one in Manitoba as it would be received very well here.

As a New Years eve celebration, we decided to go to the Sawmill Steakhouse. Service was good at first, food took over an hour but as it was busy and we were a large group of 8, that wasn't of much concern. The food, however, wasn't satisfying when we finally received it. The crab stuffed mushrooms had bits of shell in the crab, one of our steaks was completely dry, the bits of chicken in the Crispy Lemon Chicken were definitely crispy, dry, and crunchy, the chicken cordon bleu was too dry to finish... when we got the bill, we noticed they charged us for a full rack of lamb when a half rack was ordered. We asked our waiter, Danniel, about it, and he basically said he didn't hear "half" when we ordered so he went ahead and ordered the full rack. The full rack was double the price, which we weren't expecting to pay for, so we asked if he could do something about it, but he just became very rude and basically said it was our fault for not telling him we received a full rack (which was very small for a full rack). Spoke to the manager, who was less than helpful, and told us he would look into it later. Awful and rude. We won't be returning

Awesome food and the service is awesome. I have been many times now and always have great food and great service. I have been for lunch service and dinner service both times are excellent. Steak is always done how you want it and i would recomend the prim rib sliders for a starter they are superb. Great drink selection as well alcohol or pop both are awesome.

Ordered starter Caesar, medium rare 12 Oz prime rib and skewer of garlic shrimp. Received Caesar and medium 8oz prime rib with an enormous yorkshire pudding. The food that was served was delicious, just not correct. Atmosphere was quiet.

To put it bluntly... terrible. Service was very slow. The food was mediocre at best. The french onion soup was some of the worst I have every tasted, including the stuff you find in grocery stores. Asked for a medium-rare top sirloin, yet it was cooked well-done. The vegetables were cooked way too long and were very mushy. The only bright side to this meal was the garlic whipped potatoes...delicious! I would bypass this place and head straight over to The Keg.

Service was terrible. We had a large party and only one server so getting anything was slow. After about an hour we finally made our appetizer order only to have the buns come or half hour later, then our appetizers came. Then another hour for our mains to come out, some were cold some were not hot. Then the bills were wrong pointed out the mistakes the server fixed them, but the new ones were still wrong. This place can not do large parties. People in our party left before the mains due to the wait time, waitress was snarky about them leaving after 2.5 hours with no food

We ended up going here for a christmas party, I'm not sure if there was a different cook that night or they were busy somewhere else. The waiter was hard to get ahold of my boyfriend had to wait 15 mins for his coke, don't even get me started on the salad. I ended up getting the prime rib and I took one over seasoned, basically 20% cooked bite and was done. I ended up sharing my boyfriends palm sized steak, at least they keep slowly making the drinks strong and light every 20 minutes when I could possibly get the waiters attention.

Alright. Not worth the price... The food is delicious but the staff has troubles caring and our meals took over an hour to get to our tables. 150 dollars for a cold steak and a waiter who forgot our drinks and seemed completely uninterested in serving us. Plus they have a reservation option on their website that apparently has no meaning? My hubby booked for 7 for his bday and we got there to blank faces and were told to sit and wait with everyone else. I thought reservations were made so that you had a seat ready for you was I corrected.

Took the neighbours out for one last dinner before the third lockdown started... food was delicious, packed with a lot of flavour. Their prime rib is always a big hit with us. Customer service was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive even though the majority of them knew they were being laid off the next day. Have been for lunch a number of times, and is usually good. But the few times I've been there for dinner - not impressed. The last time I was there a few days ago, they don't know how to cook a steak - asked for medium rare, came out medium-well, sent back, then a new steak came out between blue and rare, sent back, then it came back rare so I ended up just eating it as the rest of the table was nearly done dinner already. Then for dinner, got the creme brulee, the bottom part was good - nice and creamy the custard - but the top part had curdled and was very eggy. something weird happened there. they ended up just taking these two items off the big bill. but still, the steak was the most disappointing, it's a steak house.

We came to this place last week for a late brunch. The server was kind of annoying. We ask her to bring our dessert first which never happened til after our main course. I asked for a bigger glass that she happily said she'll bring but never happened. She delivered our supposed warm food late then it's already cold, our dessert late that the whip cream and ice cream have started mixing together, we were the first ones in the family lounge but others have left first. She didn't come and check on us as often as necessary and we were needing water refills. In the end, we decided that she does not deserve a tip, we could have spoken to the manager for poor service ,but we still gave her something, one of us didn't. Guess what, she gave us a sarcastic FYI note that if we don't give tips, the servers have to pay the chef's tip or something. I get that, but the service was awful.

The food and drink I had was excellent. Initially the service was a little slow but they became quite responsive once they got to taking my order. A little more pricey but a fine dining experience with help that is very easy on they eyes. I would describe this as the Keg kind of food with almost a Hooters approach with the waitresses.

Ordered ( skip the dishes) from the sawmill in Grand Prairie, food was gross. $100 order( rib eye steak $48, dry rib starter $15, 2 shrimp skewers $ 10, added bermease sauce, lobster tail $21, and the only thing I ate and enjoyed was my shrimp skewers. Rock lobster for $21 ( should state that on menu, never would have ordered it). Went through skip the dishes, got a $20 (50% of effected items) refund, sent pics and everything so they saw the only that was gone was the shrimp and how little of anything else was touch, also included a picture of it all in the garbage. Lesson learned, probably best I ordered out and wasn't offered $20 refund in the restaurant.

Good wings! We went on wing night for half price wings with the purchase of a drink, this includes pop for the non-alcohol drinkers. The wings where cooked well, and had very good sauces on them. I had the BBQ and a saracha dry rub. Both very good.

Went for dinner with my husband on Saturday night at about 7:30. I can't tell you how the food was because we were told that they were no longer accepting walk ins by the hostess. I have never heard of that for that type of restaurant. I was shocked. Not in a hurry to go back to be turned away.

Unprofessional, inattentive and cold reception. Entered the resturant lounge found a table and waited 10 minutes with no response from the staff. Approached a staff member and asked to be served, was flatly told that they had made last call and the kitchen was closed more than an hour before their posted hours of operation. I asked about the posted hours and the staff member simply said "well we are closed now" Will not return again.

Just had an early Valentines Day dinner at the Sawmill. At around 2 pm Sat at our table for more then 15 minutes before waitress came (only when I waved her down) apparently she said she was the only one working. Rush service when she could make it over. Did not serve out dessert the way the said it would be. Dropping $200.00 on a meal for two and you are like a after thought. We were always fans of the Sawmill never ate anywhere else but there, but time to change that and now we are going to start going over to the Keg.

The menu was highly priced with focused variety based in quality. The prices matched the quantity let alone the amazing quality you get when you eat her. Cheers to the amazing waitress we had. Fabulous meal, great atmosphere! We had the bacon wrapped scallops to share, and I had the black and blue ceasar salad. Perfectly cooked. Only thing that I wasn't too happy with was the lettuce was uncut. It looked like it had just had the outer layers removed, washed and then placed directly on the plate.

They try to be this classy steakhouse restaurant but its really just sub-par. The drinks were badly made and our waitress took forever to come back and take our orders. Food wise everything else but the prime rib is good which is weird because the prime rib is supposed to be their number one item. I had baked brie as an appetizer and it came out still solid in the middle instead of being delicious soft. I've been there twice and both times its been disappointing .

The food is good and it was always our go to place for Sunday brunch... however the last two times we’ve come for Sunday brunch have been disappointing. The first time I called ahead to make sure they make food until the end as there was only an hour left of brunch. They assured me they keep it fresh to the end but that was not the case when we arrived. The second time we went early only to find they had taken away the best waffles ever and replaced them with the cheap hotel waffle machines that you make yourself. My omelette was uncooked and the shrimp and smoked salmon tasted weird. Slowly going down hill sawmill...

Personally you may soon have to bring even more for apparently the saying is we don't have butter for brunch crab..,.. no horse radish for roast. Aweful experience. Went for a celebration and most of us ordered medium rare ribeyes. All 4 cane out medium well to well done and then was challenged by manager saying that is how "they" cook medium rare and will redo but next time order correctly. Hey mistakes happen but to be told that I have been misordering for my steak for the last 30 years all over the world implying its our fault not there is insulting. Food was aweful everybody ate at different times and manager was rude and confrontational. I recommend anywhere else in grande prairie and the keg blows the sawmill out of the water in every category especially customers service and food quality. I will do my best to avoid sawmill and prevent any event I am a part of booking reservations here.

@Sawmill Thanks Sawmill for ruining my parents date night. The fact that they lost the reservation seat over the crowd. It didn't bother me at all but was a bit disappointed. Told our parents not to eat anything for dinner cause we have set them a reservation at sawmill. They should have enough time to call me and tell us the situation so that we can generate something but no. They waited for my parents to come to their building just to tell them they are full? When I asked them to just have the food ordered and we will take it home instead and the only thing I was told is " the kitchen will be confused if I do that". First of all it's not my problem cause I'm already frustrated as a customer. The fact that they are not trying anything to help the situation irritates me so much and I was open with solution but they just continue to disappoint me more. I even called during my work hours almost everyday just to keep in check and to make sure that when tongith comes it will run smoothly but not a single word from them that the reservation I have will mean nothing. Why do we still book anyways . Thank you so much Sawmill. Thank you.

Mediocre at best! $43 New York Strip ..... steak was thin and over cooked. I asked for rare but waitress talked me into medium rare and it came medium well at best and Luke warm. Side was stuffed horseradish bacon baked potato which would have been fabulous if it was hot, but just kinda warm, wouldn’t have melted any butter that’s for sure. Veggies were over cooked, watery and Luke warm as well! Waitress never asked how meal was or I would have shared. Asked for a Slow gin fizz for a drink the waitress looked at me like I was from another planet and did not check with bartender to see if they could make this. Can’t say how disappointed I was after truly looking forward to a great meal at a nice restaurant.

Tried to go here for my anniversary last night.... came in no one greeted us waited 10 minutes and never even got seated. A group came in after we waited 10 minutes and a waitress immediately came to seat them completely ignoring us and the fact that we were clearly there before them. We left and had a MUCH better experience at the Office, I suggest if you are looking for a decent steak house with decent service do NOT go to Sawmill.

I only rated it 2 stars because the food was good. The service at the bar was absolutely terrible. There was about 3 people ordering food and about 3 others ordering drinks and playing VLTs. I ordered an Iced tea which was a typical tall class you have in your own cupboard at home, but it had about 6 giant scoops of iced tea powder. Then i waited about 20 minutes before I rudely asked for water, meanwhile the bartender was on her phone and completely ignored the guy to my left who ended up waited 30 minutes for another beer. My friend beside me had told the bartender to stay close because he was pounding back drinks. In which he did. But there was 20 minute gaps between his drinks because her focus was on her phone instead of the 3 customers in the entire restraunt. Management should really get rid of the girl who doesnt appreciate her job. She also recieved a 2 dollar tip for her terrible attitude too on our 150$ bill.

We went into dukes to plan a birthday party for one of the people I support. This man has dreamed to have his birthday at Dukes for a very long time. When he went in to set it up he got turned away saying it is not the right fit for him and they do not cater to people like him. This man is a very nice man who happens to have a disability. We have been to the Sawmill twice and it is our favourite restaurant. The ambience is quiet and intimate, the food is beyond amazing, and the service is perfect. When you decide to go out for supper and spend a little more on something spectacular, the Sawmill is the place to go. We live 2 hours outside of Gp but we gladly travel that far to have an amazing dining experience. It does not disappoint!

The whole 2 stars goes to the kitchen staff for some truly amazing food. Unfortunately, all else was terrible - we were seated and not given menus and then it took quite a bit if time to have our orders taken. Then my colleague only received half if her app + half of her main dish - the other half if the main dish was missed and so was her dessert. We received the bill for her full 3 course meal and asked the waitress to edit based on ehat we received and she didn't even realize that we didn't get what we ordered, she just removed the extra items. At this pretty classy restaurant, is expect much more in the way of service.

Once it came the pasta dish was stacked on a second plate because it had been under the hot plate so long that the server couldn't even carry it. Servings were small. Disappointing. The place not at all busy. As we were walking out the staff all 6 of them were still busy chatting at the front to each other. They did not even acknowledge us. WE NEVER WENT BACK.

Excellent service, excellent food! I tried to eat two 16oz prime ribs and failed - probably could have done the 12oz! - but not for lack of trying, as the steak, veg, potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding were all superb! I'll definitely be back - but only for one meal next time, haha.

Went for dinner with a party of 8. It took over 2.5 hrs for dinner. I appreciate it was New Years day. But if I was the Manager I would be embarrassed. No one was offered drinks as the party arrived. We were given menus than left. Our drink orders were taken with our food order. Not even water was offered at this point. It just went down hill from there including not being told if an allergy was accommodated or not. We had to ask for refills on water & Pop. I was never offered a second highball. The vegtables as the side were cold, unseasoned & just generally unpalatable. We definitely won't be back

Came for a Sunday brunch with a few friends. The cost is a bit much compares to other restaurant brunches I have been to. And when u have more than 6 or 8 people at a table, you will be charged the tip right on your bill. Even if that group pays seperately. I can understand it on a regular day, but on a Brunch, where the customer helps themselves out. Anyways, ill still come back and try the signature steak...on of these days :)

Great place to go for a nice dinner. French onion soup was fantastic, the ribeye was cooked perfectly. Had the Brussels and peppercorn sauce with the steak as well. Will definitely go again. Get the flight of beers, you will not be disappointed.

Decent food. Went for dinner at 8 and the place was dead so good service! I've also had the Sunday buffet that is about 30$ a plate but largest selection in Grande Prairie by far. Hot and fresh tasting !

Don't know if there is new management but I ordered curbside pickup as I just got off work. They said to call when I arrived which I did and took forever to just say your order is ready was on hold for 10 minutes so I went in and waiting another 10 minutes. The manager almost yelled at the worker as he thought I didn't pay as he was handing me the bag. I went home opened the steaks and saw hair on my food and was turned off. They agreed to replace the steaks instead of a refund or gift card as I'm turned off now. So I said no they weren't apologetic and made it sound like I planted the hair on my food. I'm in customer service and know how to treat others.

The Sawmill is the perfect place for anything from a first date to an anniversary. Or have a seat in the lounge with the crew after work. Outstanding service and food, every time. Best steak in town, as well as the biggest. Try the 42 ounce Tomahawk steak for a price you WILL NOT regret. It's picture worthy.

Awesome prime rib! The 12oz is actually pretty decent size. Service wasn't quite there when we arrived at 5pm as the restaurant wasn't quite ready for business. Simple things like bread took like 20 minutes to show up. Having said this, the prime rib was so good that we will likely return.
