The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was because the wonton nachos were stuck, and I mean stuck to the paper so I kept getting bits of paper in my mouth. BUT the food and service was otherwise fantastic and I will definitely be back. Ill just get them to hold the paper...lol

Love love loved the new look of the Sandbar and the evening spent on the new patio listening to live music did not disappoint! The staff, service and food was amazing and I highly recommend trying it all out! So happy to see Dominion busy and bringing in new fun to the town

I had Fish & Chips twice on Saturday! For lunch I had the Sandbar and for supper I had the Fin & Feather on the boardwalk. I was presented with 10 times the amount of fish in Dominion than in Sydney where they twist the pieces to make them look big = Sandbar Wins!!!! I removed 1 star for tax on beer. I've drank more Nine Locks Ale than anyone and $6.50 a pint I thought was fair, but then to add tax on top of that felt like a slap on the face.

Our food was fantastic. We tried the Mexican dip, fish and chips and a spicy burger. I really liked the the burgers were fresh, not premade frozen patties. Our meals were worth every penny we spent. The drinks are well priced and the service was great.

The food was absolutely fantastic! Super delicious, very fresh. We ordered on Valentines day, there was a pretty long wait which was to be expected, however when I got to the restaurant it ended up being about another 30 minute wait. The waitress was amazing because of this additional wait time she discounted the potato skins I had ordered, which I greatly appreciated. Absolutely wonderful customer service! We will definitely be coming back here!

The place was not really busy, so I am basing this review on a time when it would have been easy to look good. The atmosphere over-all was awesome. Our Server, was AMAZING. The FOOD was delcious. Over-all....I would recommend the SANDBAR - to anyone!! If they can operate like that, when they are real busy.....I will change my RATING to 6 ????????????????????

My boyfriend and I had started dating when the pandemic began, and decided to venture into this place for our first official date in the middle of the afternoon on a whim. And I'm really glad we did. The food was better than anything I have had around here and the service was great. Can't wait next time to enjoy drinks on thier new outdoor seating area.

There hamburger $16.50 is great better than the popular 5 Guys in Winnipeg.. Their gravey is great but their fries ???? I do like because they have skins on them.. skins are okay but they need to be bigger/fatter...because they get overcooked and therefore no potato substance...

My girlfriend, her mother and I were in for supper tonight, upon our arrival we were seated right away... Customer service was great, the food on the other hand left a lot to be desired. We had heard a lot of good things from friends and family, so for my birthday we decided to try it out. My Girlfriend and her Mother both had the fish and chips, which they had found the batter on the fish to be tough, dry and chewy. I had the "Big Pig" sandwich with fries, I was led to believe that it was going to be a bigger than usual sandwich that's "Not for the faint of heart"(Quote from the menu). The 7 oz burger with pulled pork on it was very dry and overcooked I found, and fries were super salty.... Our waiter provided excellent service, when I mentioned it was my birthday he had taken my meal off the bill and explained how to apply for the Sandbars VIP specials. As far as us returning to the restaurant? Who knows? I was asked by Google for an honest review, tonight's issues could have been due to a busy Saturday night supper time.... Who knows? I hope this review helps improve the restaurant in a positive way. Sincerely Dale McKinley

My boyfriend and I were down in Sydney for our anniversary and we wanted to try new/local restaurants. We were in Dominion for the day and decided to try this place. We absolutely LOVED IT! We are originally from NB, and this restaurant reminded us so much of some of our pubs back home. The staff were phenomenal, the food was so good (probably the best Mexican dip we’ve ever had), portion wise for food was more then enough! I guess the only thing that disappoints me is that we live so far away that it will be a long time before we get to go here again. It will definitely be another stop for us whenever we we go back for a visit. I’m very happy we tried this place out while we had the chance! :)

I can't give more than a 2 star rating. To start the meal me and my family went for a super late breakfast and when we seen breakfast on the menu we got are orders ready it's odd to give me a menu with breakfast options and then be told no more breakfast for to day but hey I can live with it. So we order coffee and are told we have to wait for the coffee we waited like 15 mins again no problem but when it comes it looks like tea we ask about the coffee and get " o it was dark coffee I put in the cup" it was basically water with cream in it but hey let's move on to the meal may I say "not for the faint of heart" leads me to think this is gonna be alot. We got a small burger with no flavor other than the few bites of over cooked pullpork but the only upside was the fries they were okay. Service also seemed to get defensive when we asked about the coffee and the lettece. The food was consistent and I don't mean that as a compliment I would say the burgers are a no fly zone from what I had. I'll give the place another chance but I couldn't suggest going off what we had today.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. There was hardly any pulled pork on it. I was disappointed with that. My husband had fish and chips and my mom had a chicken club wrap. Their portions were much larger. Maybe it was because they were really busy, but I left there hungry.

By far the worst food I've ever eaten even on this island even after the Reno's and new management. I had a double order of wings and fries and I couldn't even eat 3 of the wings they were hard as a rock and the meat was pretty much cooked out of them. All my food was cold and took them almost a hour and a half to make the food seems to me they spent more time cooking it over and over and letting it get cold then anything. The service was horrible had to keep asking someone besides our waitress for drinks because our waitress didn't even bother to serve us. Too the cook: I wouldn't feed that food to my dog and that is why I sent the plate back barley touched enjoy my money sandbar because its the last time I ever look at that restruant/lounge ever again.

The food is delicious. I am not a hamburger eater, but their bacon barbecue hamburger is home made and fantastic. I do not like gravy on my fries but once you try theirs you will. Service is a bit slow but worth the wait because some nights they have really good live bands to dance or listen to. Prices are very reasonable and a definate place to try on a weekend. Enjoy it there each time I go to Cape Breton.

Stopped to check out the place under the new ownership..very disappointing..the waitress was nice but that was the only thing nice about the visit..so dark i could hardly read the menu..very cold inside..kitchen staff with beards handling food with no hair nets and when the food did arrive it was horrible..we ate very little of the meal..burnt..cold..and not tasting right
