We got the tataki and the steak and fries. The tataki was great. The presentation and the seasoning was on point. No complaints there. I was actually quite impressed. The steak however was insanely dry. I don't know how they thought it was acceptable to serve this garbage. I was having so much trouble just cutting it with the steak knife and it was so hard to chew. It also tasted burnt. The way they massacred this unfortunate piece of meat should be a criminal offense. The vegetables were bland. Like there was no sauce or seasoning. Just boiled or steamed... It's honestly just really lazy cooking. The sweet potato fries were amazing though. I'd recommend. Crispy on the outside and just the right amount of seasoning to compliment the sweetness of the potato.

Went there to celebrate a birthday in my family. The waitress we had was really helpful and had a good timing, but her attitude was off and she wasn't smiling that much (compared to the other waitresses). But that's all I have to say, she was a good waitress anyway ???????? The nachos were okay (a little dry, probably overcooked), but the tartars were not super good (we had the shared plate). There was peas and corn in one of them.... Just why (didn't tasted good)? The other twos were fine, but not a lot of flavors... Not worth the price to be honest.

I went to Houston Bar & Grill restaurant to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends on August 9. Pro: the waitresses were extremely nice and helpful with the menu. The grilled salmon and steak were extremely good. Con: The only reason why I am giving it a 3 star is because the manager is rude. He made the experience at the restaurant very unpleasant, to the point his waitresses had to come and defend him. It was still a bad look.

Tonight, my friends and I experienced the worst service ever! I would even say there was micro aggression towards us since we were a very ethnic group. The food was ok, but the waitress was extremely rude, barely checked on us during our time there and we can clearly see her serving other tables as she ignored us. With her horrible service, she was still expecting a big tip from the group. She then went on a rant on how waitresses don't get tipped very well and that we should google the minimum wage and went to go tell her boss, who eventually came to us and ask why some in the group didn't tip. I have no problem tipping, however if the service is not good, don't expect everyone to. I will definitely not be coming back and won't recommend.

I took the chicken and ribs plate.. The salad with balsamic dressing was great, the ribs were okay, the chicken over cooked and its not chicken, I left it..., coleslaw was good.. My husband took the salmon plate.. I tried it and it was very good. He said the rice was good too and the green bean was cooked perfectly. He also got the clam soup were I tried and he ate and it was delicious... Very good service!

Talk about "a mistake" ..my hubby and step-son wanted Chinese and here's me insisting on Houston! Thought I'd love to try it since I'm a Big Time restaurant connoisseur ...well he warned me that the service was poor and I really should have listened! We got there and ordered drinks. ..10 minutes (not bad) ..appetizers 30 minutes (was kinda long) ..Main Course (an hour and 15 min) RIDICULOUS! but the worse part was that no one was even around for us to complain to and when we finally saw "a waitress" I asked her if she knew what was going on and she had the nerve to give me attitude. "I'm not your waitress so it's not my problem!" ..it was just the worst experience ever. Even the food wasn't anything to brag home about. Hubby was right .worse service ever! Never again. ..oh and that music was driving us CRAZY!

The one star is for the attentive service I recieved at the bar (once someone actually acknowledged me...). I've been waiting a long time to try this restaurant and it was beyond dissapointing. All their red wine is kept refrigerated, which gave the 2 different glasses I had an acidic taste. The steak with brie was.... passable. (It's hard, because I had just had the perfect medium rare sirloin 2 nights earlier at SOMEWHERE in Ottawa.) Both side dishes of button mushrooms and shrimp seems to be prepared with cheap flavorless oil and nothing more. The smashed potato was mashed potato. Not sure if that was server error or they don't know the difference. I'm not a chef but I have spent years in many front-of-house positions and have tasted a plethora of delicious food. This meal was just an embarrassment. I came to the restaurant to celebrate my acceptance into a Masters program and left bummed, slightly nauseated from the acidic wine and $110 poorer.

Do not order the Houston poutine unless you absolutely love salt. It is a mountain of salt. Even if you order the regular poutine, the amount of salt is not eatable!!! Lower the amount of salt, it is absolutely ridiculous! Service wise was quite nice and apologetic for the food. Friendly, nice, our server was very sweet. She went above and beyond, which made up with the terrible poutine.

I went to Houston's for my first time the other night and I will not be back! I have celiac disease and a dairy allergy, I asked for my meal to be free from gluten and dairy! When I got my meal there was sauce all over my steak and the potatoes definitely had butter in them. I kindly asked the waitress if the meal was safe for me to eat once again, she said, "yes I double checked" and rolled her eyes. I went ahead and ate the meal and I felt very sick and this lasted a few days. I even called the restaurants and complained to the manager the next day but he did not do much about it. Its very hard to go out to eat when you have celiac disease but the restaurant needs to be taking better action for people with food sensitivities and allergies like myself. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK !

Not upscale food and definitely not ‘classy’. Prices bloated and overdone to give the impression of gourmet dining. I ordered over 70$ in takeout and they gave me fries instead of the Caesar salad I ordered. No idea the caloric of nutritional value of their menu items. Food seems likely to have been flash frozen (not good). Shoddy physical location not accessible in the middle of a run down parking lot beside a tire centre.

Went in on a Friday night and it wasn’t busy. still had to wait 10 min for someone to even acknowledge my girlfriend and I. We were seated at a booth which we asked for. We ordered drinks and calamari as soon as the waiter came by. The calamari arrived, and we didn’t even get the drinks until we finished the calamari. Undercooked and flavorless appetizer, boring steak( but to their credit it was cooked how I asked it to be), good fries. This place has no clue what it is, and tries to be everything. There is a guy DJing music, a bar where most people are eating dinner because they were out of seats and the music was so loud that the waitress kept making mistakes due to being unable to hear. This place needs to simplify and concentrate on doing a few things well, not everything badly. That said, some of the people I was with were quite happy with the burgers.

Wow, first time here and absolutely blown away. Friendly and welcoming staff followed by the best steak I've had in years!! Good choice of beers on tap and had an appetizer followed by their 20oz Ribeye steak with porcini sauce. Perfectly cooked medium rare throughout, seasoned perfectly and full of flavor. Side of mashed potatoes and really well cooked and seasoned mixed vegetables were a great addition. Will definitely be back and recommending to friends and family.

Was told that her “order” was given to someone else ( in our group) so he had to re-order it. ~ While everyone eating , my wife.. re Birthday girl, had to wait.. Also she had to ask to keep her plate Warm.. while she needed to wait. After Dinner, my wife’s always take a caffe latte ~ Nop.. cant// machine broke! I then ask the waiter if they had anything “special” for birthdays.. she got a cheesecake, not sure if it was charged or not.. would have been Nice IF I would not had to Ask for it! Management should be aware of that and make the Adjustments etc. Note: I purchased 12 Gift cards from Costco (total $950) to give out to the our guess, to bad that they were also disappointed with the service. There's more .. but it's enough for now..

Went for a retirement lunch. Food was good but the service was a bit slow for my liking even taking into the account of being with a larger group.
