I heard that this was the iconic place to eat in Gander, and it's true! I had a turkey dinner with potatoes and squash and it tasted like it came right out of the family kitchen. Some of the best homestyle cooking I've ever had while traveling. The cakes, squares and cookies by the cash are hard to resist on the way out, but if you give in to temptation, it will be worth it.

Traditional Newfoundland food was served hot and very fresh. I ordered the single fish and chips with dressing and gravy and I was not disappointed. Staff was courteous and checked back a few times to make sure I was enjoying my meal. Next time I'm in Gander I'll be sure to pop back.

The service was a little slow and they never came back to make sure that I meal was okay we saw the waitress wants to take out of water when she brought the food and when we're done it would have been nice if she had to come over shortly after she delivered the food to be sure that everything was okay and then perhaps once again to see if we needed anything otherwise it was very good

I prefer the older fish batter. i appelogize if you did not change the batter, but it seemed different compared to previous times i and my family have eaten there. all at my table did make the same comment. anyway sorry for any convenience, have a great day.

This is a homie quaint very down-to-earth place to eat. It's simple with a very open " what-you-see-is-what-you-get" feel and very nice. I had the fish and chips and a chocolate cake for dessert. The portions are generous. I bought a cranberry loaf on the way out and enjoyed it immensely.

Well let me tell you it was not a positive experience. We walked in before heading back to our town...at first our waiter was pleasant.. I feed my two infants first. Placed our order got out appetizer within 5 mins of ordering. Had other ppl sat around us.... 30 min later we still did it have our main dishes..while everyone around us had their meals order and served. My infants were getting cranky asked the waitress where our meals were... she was not pleasant in responding. We had walk out as she was still not pleasant when informing us the meals are getting made still(30 mins later). Gave us BS answer that burgers takes a long time cooking... and that they are a busy restaurant. You need a runner keeping order on time if you can't handle a big crowd. Or get more cooks..don't know where the ball was dropped. The lady at the cash was lovely and apologized and didn't charge us for what we had so far... so thank you. To top everything we had our groceries in a hot car...with still an hr drive away:-( hope it didn't spoil... not sure that I would come back....and we had 1 twin with oxy requirements ... time should of been of an essences as he was on a small tank.

Rosie’s Restaurant is a wonderful place to experience excellent tasting home-cooked meals. You will not leave here hungry! They have an excellent selection of gluten-free options (almost all menu items) and were very knowledgeable regarding Celiac Disease. They also have a separate fryer so those who eat Gluten Free do not need to feel left out of those delicious fries, gravy and cheese. Highly recommended to any gluten-free eaters or celiacs in town looking for a quality and safe meal.

Girlfriend had a turky vegetable soup and a club sandwich qhich she also really enjoyed, soup was killer!!! We also picked up some baked goods that where also really good!! Will be back

Was home from Alberta and had to go to Rosie's the food is amazing. The cod au Gratin is to die for. The portions are very generous, you will not leave here hungry. Huge portions, Newfoundland home cooking, almost as good as mother’s Sunday dinners( I said almost, mom!). Turkey dinner has all the fixings. I enjoyed the cold plate as takeout for a meal if you plan a day exploring central Newfoundland. There are lots of scenic picnic benches to enjoy the meal.

Unfortunately Rosie's Restaurant is consistently under staffed in the mornings before 11 am. The poor waitress is literally running from table to table to do the best she can. Between minding the store front, serving, and trying to cash out customers it's just too much for one person! You can't go to Rosie's if you don't have time to spare.The food is good and price comparable to other popular breakfast restaurants in town. The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly, just expect a wait of you go for breakfast before 11am.

If you like traditional Newfoundland meals, Rosie's ranks among the best that the province has to offer. The meals are delicious and generously proportioned. The staff are neatly dressed, courteous and knowledgeable. The restaurant is well maintained, appropriately equipted/decorated and clean. I recommend you check out the fresh baked goods at the front of the store before leaving.

Disappointed we went for breakfast got there before 1130 but when the waitress came over to take our order we were told it was too late for breakfast. We ordered lunch but cancelled the order and went to another restaurant. Was charged 7.00 for 3 coffee. Breakfast was great at the other establishment.

We were there twice, good stop on a long day of driving on the TCH. (Original) Essen gut (deftige Fastfood). Sandwiches und Suppe lecker. Zum Mitnehmen gibt es Brot und Kuchen. Die Peanut Butter Balls haben geschmeckt, die Peanut Cookies waren relativ fad, der Cherry Pie trocken (zu viel Teig, zu wenig Füllung). Freundlicher Service. Sehr beliebt, gut besucht. Wir waren zwei Mal dort, guter Stopp an einem langen Fahrtag auf dem TCH.

Had a reservation for 5pm by 10 after I had to go looking for menus while other people who did not have a reservation arriving after us were seated and given menus. Had to continuously ask for things that they had forgotten and continued to forget, they didn't forget them on the bill though! Seated for our reservation before 5 didn't receive our food until nearly 5:45! Also forgot to provide us with the kids cookie that came with the kids meal until the lady asked at the cash if we had received it. Overall food was good, staff was friendly service was very poor.

Unfortunately our experience at Rosie's wasn't good! We were served a glass of wine 20 minutes after we arrived and didn't see anyone again until I flagged another waitress to bring us another wine and water which we had asked for when we first sat down which was almost an hour later. The waitress that served us was MIA most of our visit. We ordered an appetizer which we didn't receive for over an hour and my husbands clam chowder was lukewarm, mine was fine. Our main course came before we had a chance to finish our chowder and they were good. I understand that they were busy but they should look after the tourists as well as the locals. Very disappointed in the service we received and the food was mediocre.

Well organized for social distancing and COVID prevention. Pleasant atmosphere, good service, good food, and reasonably priced. All staff are wearing masks as well. What more could you ask for! I had a great chuckle over seeing a staff member pushing a cart to bus and sanitize the tables. I had read a previous review that mentioned the cart, saying it reminded them of being in a "nursing home". I would agree, but did not find the cart a bother in any way. This was our first visit here and our all party of 6 enjoyed our lunch. Club, Hot Turkey, and Cod au Gratin, large portions,and all excellent. Well done!

Food is totally amazing. Only complaint is that our server didn't tell us no bill would be given . We simply needed to tell the front counter what our table # was. We sat, and sat, and sat...and sat. Also, we we told on our first visit that they did not provide glasses of water, however, we could-and had to, purchase bottled water...

Absolutely fantastic food and service! We loved it so much for dinner, we went back the next day for breakfast! The girls working there are lovely, and the kitchen is very quick. The baked goods are excellent (especially the pies!). If you need a place to eat in Gander this is it, don't bother going anywhere else first, we did and had a terrible experience, but at Rosie's we had food in front of us before we even had menus at the other place!

Visit the bakery today April 13 bought a vanilla cake played 21.99 for it had a slice for supper when I came to realize on the outside of the cake was black and also tasted burnt .The icing covered all the black.Someone had to of seen it when they icing the cake I am so dissappointed ,will never go there again

Overall a little disappointed. We arrived 20 minutes before closing. It was a beautiful evening. As it was late I called ahead and said we would be there close to closing and dining in. Was that ok? They said absolutely. upon arrival and being seated there were a couple others in the dining room and half way through their meal. As the waitress was taking our order she was talking about how much she wanted to get home and implied that now she will be late getting home (because we showed up late). While we were eating, I overheard them again talking among themselves about us late comers have prevented them from going home early and then stood in the doorway almost looking at us until we left. We were very uncomfortable. We called them specifically for this reason. Some restaurants just close their door at a specific time but keep the dining room open until their patrons leave. We would have much rather they told us to try another restaurant than let us come in at this late hour and make us feel bad for arriving late. Our food quality was about 3 out of 5 probably due to the late hour. We were driving for about 2 hours prior to arrival and were hungry and thus called ahead to see if they were open and able to take us 20 minutes before closing. They should have told us not to come.

I visited Rosie's a little while ago and wasn't very impressed. They had three tables seated at the time, and it still took them ten minutes to seat us. After we were finally seated it took ANOTHER 20 minutes to get our menus. Needless to say, we walked out if the restaurant. The food could be great, and it could be awful. Sadly the poor service made us not want to find out.

We have eaten there many times and had great food. The staff is great and the steak dinner was the best by far. We had fish and fries yesterday, fries were done perfect as was was the coleslaw. The fish was not good the waitress said it was cod but it did not taste like cod unless it was farm fish. We couldn't eat it . Disappointed, but we will come back

This is the first time I visited this restaurant and did not enjoy the meal. I asked for an ice water and got a warm bottle of water for $2.00. My toasted club sandwich was cold with a kraft single as my cheese. My fries were also cold. I was very disappointed as previous visits the meals were delicious.

I have eaten here many times with my family over the years and we always get excellent service. The food is delicious. Large orders for your money. I find the staff to very friendly and knowledgeable. Very nice place for family dining. We also always leave with cookies and thir famous in store baked fresh bread. I highly recommend checking out the All New Rosie's.

My visit to Rosie's was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Staff looked like they were in hell, not one of them smiled the entire time I was there. The owner was rude beyond belief, and talked down to my entire table. The food was dry and horrible, and EXTREMELY over priced. Gluten free items? Don't believe it unless you want diarrhea for three days, celiacs. They have a bakery at the front entrance, but don't think you can buy a cookie and sit in the dining room with a cup of tea or coffee. Oh no. You're 'not allowed' to do that. The way the restaurant was laid out and the colors made me think that after closing, they probably have a local square dance with the tables pushed back. If you are looking to have an amazingly terrible meal with all the atmosphere of an abandoned outhouse with the farmer kicking you off his land, this is the place for you.

Had breakfast with some friends today, the service was friendly the food took a little longer then expect but tasted great the biggest issue that we had was one of the servers was taking down the Christmas lights and started putting up regular all season lights I guess, doesn’t seem like a big deal but she was hammering nails into the wall to hang the lights. There was only two other customers in the restaurant so I can understand the timing to get the lights up while it’s not busy but it was really irritating trying to enjoy our food and carry on a conversation with the people I was with. When we went to pay for the food someone spoke up and said that the banging was a bit much and the server said that they are watched all the time with the cameras all over the restaurant and if the lights weren’t done while it was slow they would get in trouble. So a note to the manager/owner...don’t have your employees hammer on walls while customers are in the restaurant do it after hours, don’t put your employees through that embarrassment of having to explain that to customers.

Restaurant was busy and entrance was cluttered and confusing as there were several lineups, no signs and no greeter. There were many servers. We were served by 4 different servers from the time we waited in line to being seated, to eating. Servers were in matching scrub shirts and a couple of them were pushing around a rolling utility cart for dishes. I felt like I was in a nursing home ???? I must say, the place was very clean. Servers were friendly and we didn't wait long for our food to be served. I ordered a pizza and it was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered fish and poutine and told me it was delicious also. We were nearly finished our meal when a server checked in to see how our meal was tasting. We bought some baked goods when paying for our meal before leaving. Again, the entrance cluttered and confusing--I think we may have accidentally skipped a customer in line. The baked goods are called Moose Farts and have been talked about in the local news awhile ago so I wanted to try them, especially since I've had them from another location. Rosie's Moose Farts are a different recipe than the ones I'm used to having. I found them very sweet--too sweet actually and I don't prefer them over the other location. My husband agreed. I would reccomended this restaurant to those who like homemade, traditional Newfoundland style food and to those stopping into Gander with family which include children. I wouldn't reccomend to ((most)) couples, vegetarians, vegans or those with some special needs.
