You will be able to see all the feddbacks of real people like you who are consuming the products and services of The Purple House Cafe (Restaurant) near to the territory of Gananoque (Canada).
At this moment this firm gets a score of 4.6 stars over 5 and this rating was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is almost the best, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is quite credible. If many people have bothered to give their review when they are satisfied with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to write reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Pizza restaurant.
I wrote this nine month ago, but I'm consolidating all of my Google reviews. Our place for coffee and conversation whenever we visit Gananoque. A really comfortable place to hang your hat, enjoy coffee or tea and a bite to eat.
Loved this place! Beautiful patio. Caprese pizza and purple house salad were both so delicious. I highly recommend for lunch or dinner, or both!
MUST-DO IN GANANOQUE! In town performing at the Playhouse and I am sad I only went once! The Purple House is iconic being that it is in an actual purple house right on the corner north of the marina/boat tours. The main dining area is outside on their patio where they grow their own produce to cook with & have the stone oven located right there for you to take in the authentic experience. I went back with my parents in hopes to sit outside during a rain storm but they weren’t open due to weather (very seasonal establishment)! The pizzas are so fun & unique! I had the shrimp & pesto and it was to die for. Also pictured is the daily veggie, butter chicken and the steak & cheese with chipotle sauce. They also offer vegan, gluten-free and cauliflower crust pizzas! The staff/owners were WONDERFUL! So nice getting to know the locals who love what they do! Will definitely be back.
Super joint we discovered while driving to T.O....just make sure to use their big repellant on muggier nights (it actually adds to the vibe and everyone seems happy spraying up & eating, lol).
Wonderful!! We loved the food, the hospitality and the gorgeous garden setting outside. It was a lovely find. The GF pizza and desserts were delicious and a rare find for my needs. My dh enjoyed meeting the owner Aaron, a fellow kiwi and my daughter loved the attention of little Blue, their sweet cat. Wishing this family and their business the best always!!
Really good pizza and we enjoyed our moment. The terrace was really beautiful. Our waitress was really nice and helpful.
Beautiful garden patio setting. Pizzas are not bad. Decent selection of beer.
Very nice atmosphere, nice crew. Making pizza in oven with wood. Strongly recommand.
amazing pizza and exactly my vibe
This artwork made my night
Very very nice place. Laid-back and staff always helpfull. The pizzas are very tasty and flavours are well ballanced. Only one thing I noticed; the pie sizes are a bit small for the price.
Amazing Food & Friendly Staff. My favorite is the veggie pizza.
The pizza crust is nice and well cooked in a wood oven...however the toppings are not...we had the pepperoni and mushroom and they were still cold, pepperoni looked just dropped on top... the other pizza is supposed to be the preferred one according to the menu : spicy sausages...but here too the sausage chunks were still like raw meet. No sorry not our taste...
Delicious!! Every Bite in a beautiful outdoor setting with wood fire pizza oven!!
Very good food + beautiful surroundings.
Great service and delicious, hand crafted dishes.
There is a reason why residents of Gananoque & the area wait with baited breath for this wood-fired pizza - it simply delicious. Made and cooked in the oven, only a few at a time, so be prepared to sip on delicious drinks and brews, appetizers, and relax on the patio with the tropical atmosphere. Don't expect quick service, this isn't some take out restaurant that is able to make the pizzas quick - so close your eyes, enjoy life, feel the sun, and just sloooow down. Family friendly atmosphere. You won't be sorry you ate here.
Wonderful, cozy cafe, with a great location by the port in Gananoque. Delicious pizzas. Great for a visit after a boat trip!
Sit in the garden with a sweet and a coffee. Or a beer. A nice break.
Clean, and almost romantic. Pizza, especially the crust and red sauce was really good. Only complaint is menu is pretty much limited to pizza. Pizzas come on awesome trays and with your own pizza cutter.
Fair price and good quality. Plus the ambiance is really nice
Shared the margherita pizza with a friend. Absolutely amazing! Probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. They’re big enough to share (but you’ll want it all to yourself anyway). The pizza was cooked in a really cool wood burning oven right behind us!
Great atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. We were able to watch the pizzas being cooked in the outdoor oven, and the garden is just beautiful. We will be back!
We loved this place! We walked past it a few times without even realizing it was a restaurant, there's no real indication anywhere that it is. We sat outside in the garden, very nice patio! We found the food to be a little overpriced for the size of the pizza but it was delicious!
I definitely recommend this place. Beautiful garden restaurant with great good and wonderful staff.
Stopped in for a drink as we wandered the neighborhood. Lovely little garden patio that was cheerful and welcoming. The hostess did not want to allow us a seat; as she said they were all reserved for "eating" customers. We stood in a corner and stole a stool and enjoyed a glass of rose and a beer anyway. Our waitress was wonderful and fun. Loved watching the chef prepare the pizzas in a wood fired oven. They looked amazing. Maybe we will visit again and enjoy one.
Good pizza cooked in a wood oven. Service is slow.
The best pizza place I've been to with good vegan options
Really nice and beautiful little place. Friendly staff and delicious pizzas.
Service and kitchen deserve 5 stars! Pizza was small but really enough for a person, light dough and good cheese and plus the tomato sauce was easy and fresh . We ordered purple house salad as appetizer and was surprisingly good! Nuts and blueberries with vinegretta was absolutely a great combination. Highly recommended this place.
Super nice people, family business, pizza was amazing and lite. See u in a few weeks
Delicious pizza as always. We couldn't get take-out because it was too busy, but it was only a 10 minute wait for the table. We were offered a new cider which was delicious and now I'll have to go back just to get the name of it, and eat more pizza probably.
Amazing place. Friendly staff. Lake view. Pizza is delicious. Recommended!
The steak pizza was seasoned well and a bit sweet (I liked that!) Cesar salad dressing was perfect, with a little sourness taste of lemon.
Gorgeous and cozy place, very European! Great food and friendly people. They have a lovely pizza oven outside which has a butt!!!! Literally :)
Yummy vegetarian wood fire pizza ????& mocha .. Reasonable prices, I guess it’s the most busy cafe in the town… we had to wait almost 30 mins.. but all worth it✨✨5 stars .. we had the best time..
Fantastic fire oven pizzas cooked while you watch from the patio!
Amazing pizza! Amazing atmosphere!
Excellent food and great customer service! I love how ingredients are local or made in the restaurant’s garden because the food was super fresh!! Will definitely go back.
The place is very nice, especially the patio. There pizza is very nice and must try.
Outstanding service, ambience and pizzas. Thanks Julie, Mitch, Finn and Kerry and Murphy the dog.
It's so enjoyable sitting in the outdoor area in a summer late afternoon
Great thin crust pizza choices. Nice setting.
Excellent pulled pork pizza
2nd time we stopped by and the detour was truly worth it. Excellent service and food
Sensational! Great service. Pizza was amazing! Super thin n crispy! Great ambience!
Edible pizza. Okay salad. Terrible chicken. A lot of attitude.
Friendly staff and cozy place. They got a good selection of board games.
I had a friend visiting me and took her here. There was no wait time for us as we slipped in just before the dinner rush. The staff was so incredibly lovely and sweet, and the pizza was amazing ! The dough has such a good taste! And the patio is adorable. They also have vegan options & allow dogs on the patio. TLDR: Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and delicious food ! I'll definitely be back!
After a long kayak, this place was just perfect. Wood fired pizza was delicious and we really enjoyed the salads. Everything was fresh and made to order. We were there in the summer and the outdoor seating was super cute and charming. The interior seating was super quaint with mismatched furniture etc. They don't take reservations so you will have to wait to be seated but it's worth it.
Amazing food
Poor service , food is average and I don't think I'll visit again . Staff need to be trained well
Pizza was fantastic and perfectly cooked ???? I did prefer the pesto much more then the margarita
One of the best vegetarian and butter chicken pizza
Lovely garden patio, you can smell all the fresh basil they grow before it gets sprinkled on your pizza. The pizza crust is perfect, thin but holds up well with the right amount of bite and chew. A good variety of classic and creative toppings, and if you sit at the back part of the patio by the ovens you get to watch and feel and smell the pizzas going in and out of the wood ovens.
Everything was very good and polite staff 100% recommended
This restaurant was recommended to us by someone in town during the afternoon. Pizza sounded appealing as did eating outdoors. Very pleasantly surprised to find they had a wood fired oven on the patio. We split a Margherita pizza, a very fresh seasonal salad with greens, candied nuts, and a maple basalmic dressing. Dessert was a chocolate almond torte. The service was really exceptional. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere we chose. We had menus in a minute, drinks in two or three, and questions answered to boot. Our waitress had to manage a patio full of tables, and there was quite a rush after 5 pm, but she was awesome. We never felt forgotten or like we had to wait. I'd happily go back and would highly recommend the Purple House.
Fantastic pizza! Beer prices are super cheap! Nice staff and ambience, beautiful little place. Wood fired, fresh ingredients picked from on site garden. I had the spicy sausage and it was great! I love the thin crust and sauce. So delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone, will definitely be back!!
Quaint eatery, with a nice atmosphere. The pizza is very good, with well paired toppings.
Great Pizza. Nice atmosphere.
House special had too many tomatoes and cooked to sogginess. Waitress was more focused on chit-chatting and had to be called on multiple times to place orders, refill water, etc. Desserts were a disappointment too.
Great setting, great food. A hidden gem that you should definitely check out
Good pizza and drinks
went here for lunch a couple a weeks ago with some co-workers. The menu was small with only paninis, salad, soup, and quiche, however the drink menu was extensive. Was pleasantly surprised, the panini was amazing and the iced cappuccino was pretty good. Really wish they could be open during the week or have pizza on their lunch menu. The patio was beautiful
Short wait and we were seated at a picnic table on the patio. At this time it seems they only have patio seating which is fine, we wanted patio. Wasps were an issue. Sitting on a picnic table was uncomfortable. Having just come from a long kayak trip on the St. Lawrence, back support would have been great! The beer was fresh and cold. The glasses did seem a bit small for 7.50...So I had to get two. The pizza was ok, not worth the cost IMO. Very thin crust, almost like a cracker. 3 people, 2 beers 3 pizza, 2 pop was 100 dollars including tip, wow! 3 stars for; Good friendly service Beer and drinks where great Main courses are expensive Small beers for 7.50. no traditional options, only craft. Uncomfortable seating unless you get one of the tables. not the best value for the dollar....1 for 1 is comparable. We plan to visit the area yearly but we will have to try a different restaurant next time.
Amazing pizza, I was very impressed with the thin and crispy crust, and the taste was very delicious. The price is good.
Nice cozy place. Great pizza right out of the wood oven.
Amazing thin crust pizza. We got the steak and the shrimp pizzas, both were amazing. The steak was seasoned well and the shrimp tasted fresh. Will definitely come back here when I’m next in the area. The garden is beautiful. 1 star less because I couldn’t tell the difference between my husbands lemonade and mine which should have had vodka (I’m a lightweight)
Great pizza. Very good service. It's a cozy eclectic place. Don't miss beer and coffee ????
Awesome people, awesome food, only let down was the gluten free wasn't vegan.
Great pizza and caesar salad, provided by gracious, welcoming staff.
Wood firedpizza amazing , great services and pet friendly outsite the place in this town . Highly recommended
Delicious food, good vibes and awesome service! This is our second time visiting Gananoque and we have made sure to visit purple house for pizza! The chef and owners are wonderful and friendly as are the servers! Must visit if you are in the city.
My husband ordered the pulled pork pizza and I ordered the berry & walnut salad with maple dressing.. both were very very good. Not just your average "pub grub" as most overrated cafés and pubs have. Service was great and they even have very good water! (I grew up with amazing well water so I've been picky every since). Great atmosphere as well! Close to the Gananoque boat tours, museums, beach, shops, and ice cream. Perfect walking distance between all of these.
Nice restaurant with friendly and patient staff. The only issue is that there is one small oven for making pizzas and you should be patient for getting your pizza.
Great food and very laid back dining. The food is really good and staff very friendly. The really cater to children with board games available inside the dining room to "help" contain the little ones. Great outdoor patio and garden. Will definitely return next time we're visiting.
We ordered pizzas and they tasted great
Amazing
If you like pizzas is a MUST! Service was excellent and the outdoor zone is very nice
Great service. Teamwork makes the dream work. Food was good too!
We had good pizzas and salads here but the service was quite bad. Our pizzas (very quick to prepare) took longer than 45 minutes to arrive and the salad did as well. This was in an empty restaurant. After the pizzas finally arrived they had messed up our order and served my mother non gluten free dough. Getting that fixed took another half an hour. Overall if you're in gananoque I would recommend The Purple House. It's got a charming decor, and good food. Just be prepared for a wait and some disorganization.
Very tasty food, delicious coffee. Very friendly, calm & welcoming environment! If you are in the mood for pizza it is worth to stop by!
Such a great little place. Wonderful staff. Great atmosphere. Tasty food and drinks. Very close to the water and a good spot to grab lunch or dinner before or after the boat cruises. Perfect little pizza! Awesome.
Ambiance is good. Pizza is just ok. Super thin crust and dough powder in the crust. We took butter chicken pizza and vegetarian pizza. The taste was below average. Go for the ambiance only.
Delicious wood fire pizza with premium toppings and lovely flavour combinations
Nice patio area on a pleasant fall evening. The Caesar salad was excellent, as was the pizza. Very close to the cruise dock.
Delicious pizza, great local beer and awesome staff. We enjoyed the patio and the small town atmosphere.
When you think stone fire pizza you would think is would have that wood stove flavor. This pizza did not have any of that flavor. In fact, it tasted like the ingredients were all old, the mushrooms were wet, the pepperoni tasted tant, the cider on tap was flat and tasted like apple cider vinegar. I felt really rushed by the waitress. Like she didn't want us there. I feel 2 stars is fair for the experience my husband and I had. Being residents of Gananoque we heard such high regards. I hope they can improve for future customers.
Great tasting pizzas. Lovely outdoor garden / patio. We loved the pulled pork pizza. The Margarita was okay... Mildly disappointed with it was hoping it would have been exceptional due to the fresh garden ingredients (the cheese wasn't fully melted). Anyways great wood fired pizzas. The Caesar salad was a bit small and pricey. The cheesecake was absolutely delicious with the strawberry rhubarb compote.
PROS: Wonderful outdoor eating. Wood fired pizza with local, delicious ingredients. CONS: Hard to find a seat.
Thank you for making us feel so special at dinner tonight, everything was delicious and we love you all!
Very cozy garden, live music and the pizza pulled pork was really good ????
Service is great at this cute pizza place with great outdoor sitting. The pizza is delicious and they offer some interesting choices.
Quaint little place with delicious firewood pizzas. Still wondering what that was under the left stove ????????
Lovely outdoor eating area with gardens and outside pizza oven
Always interesting combinations of pizza toppings that taste amazing
It is amazing Great food and beautiful place
Great home made style wood fired pizza! Art Deco atmosphere. Clean wool blankets provided on a chilly evening in September!
Such great food and wonderful service!!
Delicious pizza, tasty mixed green salad, lovely decor ????????
Cozy and friendly, the fresh pizzas are made right in front of you... I love that smell of a fire and bread
Delicious authentic Mediterranean pizza! Wonderful garden and friendly service!
Great environment, herbs grown in the garden and pizza was fantastic!
Delicious pizza, salads, cider and dessert! They have fantastic service and a very cool patio. If you're visiting Gananoque, you've got to go!
Awesome outdoor eating area with wood-fired pizza oven. Great for families, affordable!
We arrived at 6:30pm with no reservation and were told it would take about 35 minutes. It ended up taking just over an hour. We had the mixed berry, candied pecan & goat cheese salad, which was very good and shared the special pizza of the evening; pesto caprese. They have a wood burning oven and the pizza was good and light. We also had the vodka lemonade which was very tasty. Overall nice ambiance and foliage but uncomfortable seating.
This place was everything and so much more than we expected. The patio truly felt like we were dining in someone's personal home garden. The person who mans the wood burning oven was such a sweetheart and I swear you could taste the joy and care he puts into baking each pizza. The only negative, which isn't really a negative lol, is that we couldn't try EVERYTHING on the menu.
Cool outdoor patio and pizza oven.
Amazing wood oven pizza and beautifully crafted surroundings.
Good pizza straight from the fire. Friendly staff and nice outdoor seating
Quaint place. Owner was very friendly. Good service.
My FAVOURITE patio ever! Wonderful service and the pizzas are to die for!
We had the best service! Phoebe was a rock star and we were so impressed with the pizza. The special was a peach pizza.. I was skeptical at first but after the first bite .. I was hooked. I even tried to convince my girlfriend it would be too spicy for her so I didn't have to share (it wasn't spicy). Overall our experience was 10/10 even though we can only give 5 stars.
Was looking for a place to eat in Ganonoque after a long kayak trip with gluten free options and this place was great! The gluten free pizza was very good and the patio was really nice to relax in and get a view of the pizza oven. Definitely recommend!
Wow wow and wooooooow Best pizza we ate in all time. Fresh ingredients directly from their garden Everything was perfect and tasty. Margherita pizza was so delicious! What a charming place!!!!! I recommend it 100000%
Very good service with a cozy atmosphere. Had the peach arugula pizza with a boozy lemonade so delicious!
Fresh off the oven pizza beautiful flowers, awesome ambience and great service. Loved it !!
My wife and I visited here in Sept of 2018. I would like you as the reader to know that I have visited numerous patios - and this place is absolutely stunning, warm in atmosphere, beautiful and relaxing. If you’re thinking of going here you should!! The pizza was delicious, the salad was fabulous and the owner was incredibly personable and a pleasure to talk with. This is a must visit location if you’re in town!!
Atmosphere amazing for small town Gan. We need more just like it! Food also top notch and super friendly service.
Great pizza, cold craft beer (Flying Monkey), and very eclectic decor
Amazing food, great ambiance and exceptional service
Super cute laid back vibe, gf options, good food, decent beer/wine options, kid-friendly (blocks, dominos, puppets, patient servers) a huge plus for a lunchtime stop on a Saturday with two crabby hungry kids. We will definitely be back!
The pizza was delicious!! Served nice and hot right out of the stone oven. Great service, quiet atmosphere, great location. We would come back again!
A+ pizza. Craft beer. What else could you ask for? Desert? The creme brulee is great too.
Lovely patio, lovely staff, AMAZING food. Had a lovely lunch with my friend and I can't wait to come back!!
Food is good. Reasonable price. Very pretty in the garden. Slow service though.
Too bad that it only opens at 11.30. We had to try three times before we could enjoy this great and charming place!
Amazing pizza. Amazing ambience!
We had three different types of outdoor oven pizzas as a group. Excellent! Dining outdoors is so appreciated as part of the experience. I would go here for special occasions.
Excellent pizza. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful patio.
A very pretty outdoor cafe with prompt and friendly service, reasonably okay salads but their signature dish (wood-fired pizza) was a serious disappointment. With tasteless and odourless dough, uninspiring sauce and grocery store-bought ingredients, it was barely a step above oven-fired microwave pizza. Dinner for 4 (a couple of salads, soft drinks and 3 pizzas) came to over $90 so it's not even a good deal. We had heard that this cafe had an interesting menu, but that must have been during the non-tourist season.
Very nice setting, the terrace as well as inside the building. Pizza was great, even the gluten free dough was delicious. The only down side is the wait time which can be long.
Food was fabulous. Very quaint and charming. Will be back
Wonderful restaurant, food, setting outside patio surrounded by plants, flowers, staffs, everything Wonderful, recommend for sure
Excellent pizza!
We loved this place. Amazing Ambience! The wood fired pizza was the best I've ever had. The water came in cute old jars and we drank from mason jars. The old house had vintage furniture and the gardens were so inviting! We visited for hours.
Loved the place very good and fresh pizza with a nice wood oven, very friendly and nice staff
Beautiful little place, friendly service and by far the best margarita pizza I've ever had !
I had a fantastic pizza here tonight but the food is only half the story as the ladies running the place are just wonderful! Thanks for a wonderful evening out on your last night of the season!
Delicious pizza. A must for visitors to Gananoque
Great atmosphere
Always the best Pizza if you are into hand crafted, thin crust, wood fired!
Great pizza in a nice patio atmosphere
We arrived at 7PM and we were told that it would take about 1 hour. After 1:45 hours, we were yet to be seated. We decided to change to take out which we were told it would take 15 minutes. We were back after half an hour and the order was not ready. Horrible customer service. Avoid this place. They will waste your time
Warm and welcoming atmosphere that is family friendly. Food is delicious, we watched our pizza being cooked. Beer is cold, we downed a few.
Beautiful, relaxed, garden patio with delicious pizza.
Awesome pizza! So cool that they use lots of ingredients from the onsite gardens! We'll definitely be back
Tasty though limited menu.
Very nice place. Food was great.
Amazing!
Probably the best pizza crust on the planet and we know what we are talking about being famous for our pizza crust in Togo west Africa where we own 2 restaurants. Great pizzas, salads, fresh and organic ingredients! A must try!
Carrie the owner and my server Emma were incredibly accommodating for my severe garlic allergy. They bent over backwards to create a special pizza for me. What a welcoming experience and to top it off the food was amazing !!
Pizza is baked in an outdoor oven. Great flavour.
Dog friendly. Always great food. Skis support their tomato vines. Innovative!
I am not big fan of pizza, but this place’s pizza is unbelievably delicious. Not too cheesy, not too much sauce, just the right ingredients.
Very lovely place to sit and enjoy some delicious wood fired pizza. There menu offers interesting combinations of pizza that all seem be a hit. Their salads are also worth trying. I tried the purple house salad and it was a burst of deliciousness. Highly recommend this place while in Gananoque.
Slow service, dirty glasses. Ceasar salad not good hardly any dressing.small portion is small for the price. Pizza good size( margarita) was bland. Average restaurant, at least it's nice and quaint.
The food was excellent. Oven roasted pizza seems to be the main item but the variety was surprisingly diverse. It's a nice spot to sit outside especially if the weather is nice. Very pleasant wait staff.
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious pizza made fresh in front of you! Definitely recommended to stop here for lunch
Absolutely magnificent and romantic place after the sunset. I would give 6 starts if it would be possible. Pizza made on the wooden stove right at the patio!
Great food, great atmosphere.
Poetickly delicious experience with a charming European feel of Prague with its relaxing old-fashioned vibe. The food was honest, fresh and had that raw home made taste, the service was amazing, the owner super friendly. We own a fine food business and this place is definitely on our "coming back list".
We reached there at 7 PM and were told the wait time is 30 minutes for a patio table. We put our name and phone number and went for a walk to the river side; the St. Lawrence River is just steps away. Even after 45 minutes there was no message, so we went back to the restaurant to check if everything was alright. Then we were told two groups are still ahead of us. While standing there another group of four young people came and they were also told it would take 30 minutes to get a patio table. So they put their name and went for a walk. We also went back to the river side again and found that group of four were also waiting there. Another 45 minutes passed and suddenly we found the other group stood up and started walking towards the restaurant as if they got a message from the restaurant. We still did not receive anything. We were surprised and followed them to the restaurant and to our dismay the host seated them in a table right away though they put their names 45 minutes after us. We were hungry and a little worried as the restaurant has a sign that it closes at 9:30 PM and it’s already 8:30 PM. This was our first time in Gananoque and were not sure where else we could go in such a short time. When the host returned after seating them, seeing us standing there she asked our name, and told us she just got an empty table and would get it ready for us. Rest of our time in the restaurant went well. Our server was a very nice young lady. The food was very delicious. We tried butter chicken pizza and caesar salad, all made with fresh ingredients and the pizza was made in a custom wood fired oven just in front of us; and finished with coffee and vanilla bean creme brûlée. The ambience that night was magical. It was a moonlit night. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers and lush gardens. The music was awesome. The only downside seating in the patio was mosquito bites. Once done eating and before we left, we had a short chat with our server and she was surprised to hear that we were told 30 minutes but had to wait 90 minutes and also the other group was given table before us. That group was seating just next to us. We were group of two and they were group of four, could it be the reason for discrimination? But all tables in the patio we saw were for four people and many were occupied by two guests only. So that should not be the reason. Our server appreciated for expressing our concern to her and she said she would have a chat with the host. If it was not for that incident, I would have given it a five star rating. Delay part I understood, it's hard to estimate, though 90 minutes in place of 30 minutes was a bit too much. Our major concern was why the host seated the other party (who booked 45 minutes after us) before us when she was clearly noting down everyone's booking time. It's still a mystery to us.
Tried 4 different pizzas and all were unique and fantastic
We accidentally found this gem after moving to Gan a few weeks back while walking. We knew that there was that “odd purple house” - but we didn’t know it was a delicious garden to table restaurant with some delicious pizza. I am a fan of thin crust pizza, and this is by far the best you can find around with delicious, fresh, seasonal garden specials. We enjoyed the Kale Salad from their garden, and it was amazing. Additionally, we had the Shrimp Pizza that included their fresh cherry tomatoes, and perfectly cooked shrimp. We cannot wait to enjoy the Purple House Cafe when friends visit. We will be back!
Good food and wine. Was great with our children. So good we went back the next day
Beautiful and unique spot! Fresh, wood fired pizza was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and cozy outdoor atmosphere.
THE SLOWEST RESTAURANT EVER! WAIT, WAIT, WAIT and WAIT some more. We arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened up at 5pm for dinner. We were told to sit ourselves and so there was a mad dash among diners waiting by the gate. Then it took another 25 minutes just to get a menu. Next, we had to wait 1 hr and 20 min before our pizzas arrived. There were tasty pizzas but certainly not worth 2 hrs wait! There were about 3 or 4 waiters/waitresses for only about 10 tables outside so I don't understand they were so SLOW. Nobody sat inside as it's dark with no aircon. I really don't understand why it should take so long!!! Two stars (not 1) because of the ambience and beautiful garden.
Absolutely brilliant. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is top notch
Excellent food, great taste and amazing service, we celebrated our anniversary there and was the best option.
Great place for pizzas and casual dining. The four of us ordered four different pizzas, which was a lot! Three would have been sufficient, but we devoured them nonetheless. I got the butter chicken pizza and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. We sat outside, close to the brick oven, right next to a little vegetable garden. They came out to grab some basil for our pizza from the garden right next us, it doesn’t get any more fresh than that!
The service was not very good. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Then she tells us we had to wait another 20 minutes. I said can we not sit inside. She never offered for us to sit inside. Then we were going to share a piece of cheese cake and decided not to, as we were full. The waitress says "well it's here". What kind of waitress says that. We were very disappointed!
Wood fired pizza was excellent. Service was a little slow.
This is the slowest pizzeria we've ever been in our lives. After queuing for 40 minutes, we ordered two margharitas which are the easiest pizzas to make. One hour after our order we took news about them. The answer of the waitress was « we have huge groups today and your pizzas will arrive in 3.5 minutes ». In real the pizzas arrived 10 minutes after and they were good but not outstanding. The dough was overcooked. If you have a lot of time to waste in a restaurant go there, this is a place for you. For others run away. The icing on the cake is that thanks to that we missed the sunset on the Saint Lawrence river.
The purple house café was an absolute delight. The atmosphere is so relaxed, the servers are so kind and welcoming and the food was SO delicious. Very unique and tasty pizza. Bonus was definitely their music playlist. If you don’t go you are definitely missing out!
Excellent restaurant in downtown Gananoque!!! The best restaurant in town. Fantastic wood oven pizza and a fabulous patio with the ambiance of Tuscany. Best restaurant in town if you’re visiting the 1000 Islands.
An unassuming gem near Gananoque marina featuring Innovative pizzas cooked in their outdoor woodfired pizza oven. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed . . . Like hanging out at your buddy's backyard enjoying pizza along with some local craft beers (wine is also offered).
One of the best pizzas I have ever had. Great food and service. Wonderful experience. Came in with low expectations but was completely blown away.
Amazing food. Great service and a beautiful place to eat :)
Slow service but good food. Very rustic place.. always full with locals...
The people are very friendly, but I, sincerely, don't recommend the pizza. It is expensive considering the taste. Riva, just 5 minutes walk away, is net superior in everything.
Fantastic location! Very friendly staff with a cozy setting
Beautiful place. Have a whimsical feel about it with the beautiful garden and layout. Got the steak, pear and brie pizza and it was delicious! Good size and portion for sharing. Staff were courteous and friendly. Make our meal there really enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Great pizza place by the water in Gananoque. Its a beautiful covered home with a picturesque garden backyard where the wood fire ovens are located and you can watch as your pizza is being made. The business seems very family oriented and the service was excellent. The pizza was delicious and all the ingredients were fresh and sourced locally. The owner was super friendly and was around a chatting with all the patrons and also happens to be the main pizza chef. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the afe
Very cute and cozy place. Friendly staff and good coffee !
Great freshly made food. Tastes great no complaints.
Beautiful garden, eclectic decor. Good thin crust pizzas with wide range of ingredients from pesto base with shrimps and feta to steak with blue cheese. Outdoor pizza oven. Some craft beers and wine (few PEC wines). Unfortunately the bees and flies were attacking us on patio. Pizza 15-18$
Always the best place to interact with others and have the best food!!
Love this place! Great vibe, location, service, food and drinks. Dog-friendly too. Our new go-to when in Gan
Awesome. Highly recommend the place. Great pizza!
Charming atmosphere, pulled pork wood fired pizza was incredible. A must try.
Very good pizza which was baked in a wood oven outside. Nice meal after the boat cruise.
Get the pizza. Awesome wood fired pizza.
Had so much fun at the patio. The service was excellent. We all loved our oven pizza- so delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Friendly staff , good food. What more can you ask for
The summer bowl was delicious but the vanilla bean crème brûlée...OMG delish. Owner Carrie is absolutely lovely
This place is nice but it was very rich of the waitress to charge extra for bringing extra toast since the portion first brought out was tiny. Poor customer service overall detracted from what was a nice day out. Will not be visiting again.
best pizza!
Great pizza!!!, it's wood fire oven baked.
Nice décoration and good service. The chai Latte tasted only like milk and the ice cream in the root beer was way too sweet!
