As you know, we don't usually stop to set tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

Great food, atmosphere, ambiance & service. A definite 2nd visit will be on our radar soon.
Great experience! The drinks are absolutely amazing, and the food is so flavourful! If you love gin based cocktails, this is the place for you. Their mixes are inventive and unique, and you have the opportunity to try more than one for a reasonable price. I had the club sandwich, and it was simply delicious! The veggie burger I tried tasted great too (black bean based patty), especially since I'm not fond of mushrooms as a replacement for meat. This experience was delightful!
I had the veggie burger today with fries and the vegan dill pickle dip which came to 40$ after tax... the burger was honestly disgusting, the consistency was pure mush and all you could taste was a tiny bit of spiciness from the jalapeños. Very disappointed with the meal today. The service on the other hand was very good and they were accommodating its just unfortunate that they accommodated poor food.
Excellent customer care. Exclusively to brunch on Sundays.
The service was the best thing Pickle Jar had to offer!! The server we had was phenomenal with our 1 year old, was playing peekaboo and was simply lovely. The food however, well, this is where my partner and I were disappointed. I had such high expectations and they fell a bit short. We ordered the kids menu burger for our son, and his burger was SO salty we didn't let him finish it (not that he wanted to - he just wanted to play peekaboo with our server). I ordered the duck confit spring rolls, tuna tartar (tapas) and 2 orders of the oysters. They oysters were perfect - cold, fresh and full of flavour. The spring rolls were okay, a bit dry for my taste and nothing to write home about. The sauce was good but I would have preferred it on the side rather than being a pool on the bottom of my plate, it was hard to eat without getting your fingers covered. The tartar was a bit on the heavy side for sesame oil, and could have benefited from more acid. My partner got the philly cheese steak, and his meal also was very, very salty - he didn't finish it either. With that said, their fries... the best fries I've had in a while, heck I'd go there for just the fries! I think I'd give Pickle Jar another shot simply because their service was so good, but maybe I'd just go for drinks and fries next time, skip the meal entirely.
Really good food and cocktails, the truffle chips made me so happy, they were just everything I wanted from a truffle chip.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We were seated in the bar area. The bartender was very friendly and talked a lot with us as he's from the same town as we are. We had a great time and everyone should go and try the Pumpkin-tini
I have to start off by saying I am a bit surprised that the meals aren't served with a pickle, but I also just kind of love pickles so take that with a grain of salt. Anyway, the service at The Pickle Jar is always excellent, the food is pretty good, but the prices are a bit steep (especially if you're ordering a cocktail!!). It's the type of place I'd recommend checking out, but don't know if I'd keep coming back on a regular basis.
Only good thing is the view. We waited 30 minutes before our drinks were brought to us and it was not busy. I ordered the bibimbap for $17 and it was awful. They use paraboiled rice, minimal veggies that were just way over cooked, 3 little pieces of chicken and an egg in top. Extreamly small portion and tasted awful. The dish was not authentic at all so why have it on the menu? My husband ordered the montreal smoked meat with fried chips. It was way too greasy, the sandwich and the chips. We wont be going back, overpriced, bad service and bad food.
This review is of the ???????????????????????????????????? menu. I'd give 5 stars not counting the food. Our server (Gio) was awesome, the musician was incredibly talented and the mimosas are yummy. In general, the ambience was really good! I'd only go back if I had breakfast somewhere else and I'm just drinking and enjoying some live music here. I ordered Benedict eggs with bacon and my husband ordered lobster benedict eggs. Huge disappointment!! My husband's English muffins were cold, I felt bad he ate that. The eggs or the hollandaise sauce had no flavour (the black pepper in the picture was me). The sauce was so watery! truly the worse hollandaise sauce I've tried.
Not many vegetarian friendly options.
My partner and I ate here tonight for the first time for my birthday. The food was amazing! The jalapeno hot sauce that came with the nachos was so good that we bought a bottle to bring home! Our server, I believe her name was Olivia, was absolutely wonderful. We will be coming back for another special occasion and we hope to see her again. The Gin and Jazz was a lovely unexpected touch as well. We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends.
Awesome food, great service.
Really friendly staff and great food, had a crazy early flight cancelled and they made sure I was happy, I'll be back !!!
A solid 4, almost a 5. Everything was delicious, it just needs to be a bit more refined to get that 5th star. The pickle bar was a nice touch. I had the Bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer. They came on a bed of tomato butter sauce. The scallops were good, but the sauce was delicious. Just needed maybe a bit less of it. My main was the dry aged steak with potato, caramelized onion, smoked cheddar croquettes and shaved brussel sprouts. If you put the croquette and brussel sprout and piece of steak together, it's like a modern, upscale version of the meat and potatoes I grew up with. It was almost like that scene in Ratatouille where Ego eats the dish and is transported back to his childhood. Well done Pickle Bar. I'll have to come back for brunch.
The best restaurant in Fredericton and I don't say this lightly. My husband and I get very few dates nights and struggle to decide where to go. Nowhere ever seems to get it just right. Well tonight was different. The Pickle Jar checked every box. Gio was the kindest, most attentive server I've had in a long time. The food was beyond amazing, portion sizes were perfect, cocktails were beautifully crafted. Oh....and the pickle bar is amazing. We have a hard time finding pickles we love and WOW we love those ones. Bonus points: we often order food to share so we can try more items. This is the first restaurant I've ever been to that portioned the food on different plates for us. I never expect it but I was so happy that they did! This is Freddy's hidden gem. If you don't eat here you're missing out on some of the best food and service our capital city has to offer. Cheers to you Pickle Jar! Well come back soon, hopefully for some brunch!
Two of us went for the Dine Around Fredericton special. Service was good. The food ranged from delicious to mediocre depending on the dish. The atmosphere was a little sterile but the waitress said they are actively working to improve the feel of the place, understandable for a new restaurant. The starters, a kale salad and a squash soup with a dollop of garlic creme fresh, were the highlights of the meal.
Tried out the Pickle Jar tonight. The service is absolutely impeccable. I couldn't have asked for a better server to assist myself and my hubby during our meal; the price and food is worth every bit. The food is absolutely divine, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, and our entire experience left us feeling better than ever. 10/10.
Great service and food!
This place is great, I dont know why it's not more well known. Everything is great, even the coffee is amazing. They really put the time and effort into all the little details.
Delicious food, friendly staff and great ambience. Worth going.
Great food and awesome service!
Food, service and location are excellent. Portion sizes are too small for the price. $19 for 3 medium size scallops and a few veggies is ridiculous.
The burger with the fried burrata was very good. Service is great and friendly. The tater tots are really good. However, I wouldn't call them tater tots but rather fried mashed potatoes. I will not reduce the number of stars as it was good. I did expect them to be grated.
Great food and amazing service. Definitely check this place out, love the vibe definitely in my top 3
Great food and amazing staff!
Delicious! My partner and I went and we loved it!!!
Dine with friends few weeks ago for dinner. Nice ambiance and live jazz band was awesome ???? But food was not good. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and soup it tasted salty for me. my husband had the chicken bibimbap - he said it was okay but not worth the price. We had pink lemonade cheese cake for dessert which is not really good ???? I’m not sure if we are coming back to dine.
Brunch was delish!
The vegan poutine and banh mi are amazing! I love that they have a few vegan/veggie options (that are actually really GOOD :) ). Can't wait to try out more of the menu. Excellent servers, also!
Good service, good food.
Just had the most amazing breakfast at this place. Stacey was an awesome server. My husband and I both had the omelette and when it came, the plates were heaping with home fries, bowl of blackberries and raspberries, thick toast. Coffee was of good quality as well. Highly recommend!
READ: Me and my friends went and the waiter added the tip (a crazy high tip) to my subtotal and tried getting me to tap my card after I told him that it was wrong, and he kept telling me to tap my card until I became firm. Also, there is a 'service fee' of around 8$ automatically on your order, plus their shots are 15$. So if youre looking for an expensive night this is your calling, food was good but not worth the price.
Amazing wait staff who are very friendly and courteous. Manager (who I think is named Crystal) gave my partner and I awful looks during the entirety of our meal and was very rude. Would otherwise highly recommend; but I would look into the manager.
Old salad, very greasy duck poutine! Good customer service.
Great service! Great food!
Great service and innovative cuisine.
Started out nice. Pleasant outdoor patio. Polite waiter. But then came the food. I ordered southern fried chicken and got two tiny chicken legs. My wife’s steak was quite fat as well. But the bad part was the street person who wandered over yapping at us using foul language. The waiter talked to him quietly. The street urchin began to swear again and said he owned the place and wasn’t leaving. I told the waiter to call the police and he said, “no no, he’s here all the time” As if it no big deal. I told him it was ruining our night and he just nodded his head. Very poor way to handle that situation. I will never return.
Great food. Great service!
Always a fantastic brunch. Love their hollandaise sauce so much. Gio is one of the best servers I've ever had.
Service and food was great. Best part of the experience was Anthony!! His voice is amazing
We went for the City's Dine around Freddy event and loved the food, I think I'm going to start adding Pickles to my fish chowders from now on...
We had a great breakfast at the pickle jar, they accommodated a larger group in quick notice. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the service was fantastic. We really appreciated the fact they allowed us to split up the bottomless Mimosa / Caesar option. All in all very impressed would definitely return
Good customer service, food was great. Very clean
Went to eat there with a larger group of people, enjoyed the food and the excellent service from our waiter. While in there i experienced some terrible management - i believe the server called her crystal (not sure about spelling) she was RUDE to her employees - has no idea how to coach and address issues with wait staff - she also just had a sour look on her face the entire time walking around glaring at guests, disgusting. would return once she no longer works there as she just made me feel sorry for the people under her. What a shame considering our waiter was amazing and the food was awesome. probably should consider replacing her as she was just an awful employee - would hate to see her reaction to a guest if they had a complaint. shame on her for ruining the entire evening.
My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our evening for Valentine's Day at the Pickle Jar restaurant. Our meals were absolutely delicious, the food presentation was excellent and extremely pleasing to the eye. Our server Ali, was also excellent. Ali was very friendly and attentive to our requests. We definitely recommend the Pickle Jar, and look forward to eating here again. Thank-you, for a very enjoyable evening!!!
