Exceptionally slow service on a relatively quiet night for truly mediocre food. Staff did very little to alleviate MULTIPLE issues they caused, our waiter at times almost insolent. There are countless other actually great Italian restaurants in the area. Definitely skip this one unless you have time to review and adjust your bill 100 times and fight with staff.

We are leaving a review today not just for the food, but for the staff, and the friendliness and generosity they have shown to our employees! During the Ridgeway Summer Festival our vendor tent (Lovebee Products) was next to the Vaticano's tent. During one of the long hot days they graciously gave each of our tent staff a delicious meal for free. It's rare to find such kindness these days, and we just wanted to publicly give a huge thank you! They were not looking for money or credit that day, and their actions speaks greatly about the integrity of their business. You can tell a lot about a business by what you see them do in private! Looking forward to coming by the restaurant!

Wow is the best way to describe Vaticano. I'm really not one for Italian food but this place has changed me. We went last night and enjoyed sitting by the lake on the patio. At first we weren't sure where to enter (back or through the front) but figured out that we needed to go through the front. When you enter, the vibe transports you away and makes you feel like you are on vacation instead of in Fort Erie. The back patio with the adorable herb gardens, music, and ambiance made me feel like I was in Italy. The food takes a while but it is so so worth it. We tried tonnes of menu items between our group and were blown away with each one. I can't believe anyone would leave a negative review about the food here because it was absolutely magnificent. The food is full of comfort, made from scratch, and so wholesome. You can really tell that the chef cares.. probably why he has so many photos up at the front of the restaurant with celebrities. When our food came, the table was silent because we all were so in love with our food. I tried the Sicilian pizza, my partner had the Mamma Laura, and our friends had the Gnocci and Montecassino. There were no leftovers other than myself because I ate too much of the complimentary bread with Spicy Oil earlier. Overall an amazing, romantic, and authentic Italian restaurant which I will for sure be returning to. So glad to have gone here.

We decided to try Vaticano last night with friends. The restaurant is pricy but food is amazing! We were greeted by the hostes and shown to our table in good fashion only to be greeted by our waitress who was a nice person but not suitable for the job. She came over and all of a sudden said "Bear with me we I'm busy ya know" what a greeting!! Anyway my observation was the place was not that busy and she was totally in a tizzy and not trained to act professional in this high end environment. Hence the average rating. We waited for awhile before she returned to take our wine order. When we asked her recommendation between th Côte de Rhone and another and the year her response was ."I don't know I don't drink wine" Really ?? Should you not be trained in the product you serve? We then placed our orders after awhile and our group ordered the lamb,veal and sea food pasta.I ordered a Cabrese salad , blackened sardines as the antipasto and had seafood pasta as my main. I expected to finish the Cabrese first then have the antipasto then my main in a timely manner and eat the same time as our guests. All my food came together so trying to enjoy the dishes as they are suppose to was impossible timing was way off! Our guests and my wife's food arrived 20 minutes later almost felt like I should be at another table! Everyone enjoyed the food and my dishes were superb to say the least! The waitress brought the bread which was not warmed mid way through the meals instead of on the first bottle of wine, we were all nearly done when she returned to ask if we wanted parmagan,. We were not informed of the Zupa or of any dinner specials and on a funnier note she could not open our wine and my friend had to show her how to operate a cork screw! No joke honest truth ... Not once but twice! If Viticano wishes to convey a top notch eating experience the staff need to be top notch for top notch food and dining. Not have someone from a chain that knows burgers and fries. Product knowledge and service is mandatory in this environment. They have just opened so hopefully the service can improve as the food is worth the trip. Might return in a few months and hope to see a major service improvement

The steak I got was so delicious.The chef that made it I think his name was Phil made it and it was one of the best I ever eaten in my life.Phil was also very kind and considerate when I asked him questions about how it tasted so good. We went for my 26th Birthday. It was beautiful inside. Staff was friendly/professional. It was quiet which was nice. Food was served hot and authentic. Open view into the kitchen,pasta being made by hand as soon as you walk In! Real food!!! Try something new don't be afraid Fort Erie! Only suggestion would be either shorter tables or taller chairs at the window seats. I felt the tables were too high for the chairs, which made it awkward as to where to put my hands /arms and eating. Very minor detail ! Does not at all effect our overall experience 5/5 We recommend dining here! So many things to see around the restaurant and try on the menu! Thank you to everyone who made our first experience a good one!

I took my wife here for her birthday last evening. It's the second time we've been. First time the service was very slow, and I found the food over-priced and pedestrian. My wife liked her veal piccata, and wanted to return for her birthday dinner. So back we went. Yesterday the service was incredibly bad. When we arrived, we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The server made us wait for over five minutes before seating us, because she "had some paperwork to do". She returned 20 minutes later to take our orders. It took forty minutes more for the food to arrive. I ordered a shrimp dish . . . $35 for four shrimp. When it arrived, there were only three shrimp on the plate. I asked to replace the penne side with a small green salad. That cost an extra $2.95! Really?? With prices like this they shouldn't be nickel-and-diming. Our waitress was not amused when I asked her if she was going to credit me for the penne. It took another 30 minutes to get our bill. Our "very busy" waitress seemed preoccupied with everything but serving us. By the way, we were still the only patrons in the restaurant. There might have been another table or two on the patio, but there were three other servers, just standing around, looking confused. I passed the time watching the ants crawl from the window sill onto my table. Why two stars instead of none? The food was very good this time. My Caesar Salad was outstanding, and the shrimp dish . . . all three of them . . . was delicious. Fort Erie is tough market. People are cheap and demanding. If this restaurant wants to survive with these prices, it needs to overhaul its serving staff completely. Get some attentive servers without "the attiutude", and pay attention to your patrons. I left with the impression that Vaticano had done me a favour by allowing us to eat there. Maybe so, but I won't be back.

I have been to Vaticano multiple times and it never fails to impress me. The staff are unbelievably friendly and the food is fantastic. I have always had different types of pasta each visit and all have been very fresh and so delicious. I look forward to visiting more in the summer to enjoy the patio!

We visited this restaurant last Wednesday. Before making reservations we check the menu posted on their website and it was quite impressive. We didn't mind spending some$$ on good dinner and decided to make reservations. Well, frankly...the food was disappointing...nothing special. Just overpriced and definitely far from how it was presented on their menu. We definitely won't be coming back again.

The food is very good. Arguably the best dining experience that Fort Erie has to offer. For those outside the area it is worth travelling to Fort Erie for the pasta alone. My wife and I did shared plates for 5 dishes and they were all very good. The pasta dishes were exceptional given that everything is made to order. Kabir was our server. He appeared to be the only server and he did an outstanding job managing 7-9 tables during the course of our 2 hour dining experience. Note: As many reviews will indicate; expect a slow service. Personally I enjoy a slower dinner service and I do not see this as a negative. Having said that, if you are a custom to faster service, this might not be the best place for you.

The service was great and somewhat quick, thankfully it was just our table and one other in the restaurant. The other reviews here complain about the wait time but it’s because there’s only one server and one kitchen staff working. The food in general was great. The only two issues was 1. the portion size versus the price. When we got the calamari I was so shocked I said “is that it?”. The portion was so small and the price was higher than the average. It was also very cold when we received it so I definitely wouldn’t order it again. 2. the chicken parmigiana was hard as a rock and didn’t taste fresh at all. It was not edible. They took this off the bill thankfully so I don’t recommend that dish. Besides those two, the rest of our food which was pasta and pizza dishes was hot and fresh and we all really enjoyed it. I’d come back knowing that there’s only two staff working and not to order the apps/chicken parm.

I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh and tasted great. We had rice balls as appetizers and the Cesar salad. Spaghetti carbonara was very good with fresh made pasta. We also had a tray of their desserts, and by far the best was the banana cake with peanut buttercream frosting. The servers were so genuinely friendly and kind. They were very attentive and made sure our waters were always full. For the most part the decor is great, totally updated and different from what it used to be when it was a Chinese resto. I’m not totally into the photos of the owner on the sign outside and on the walls posing with celebs but hey that’s his thing. I plan on going back.

A delightful mid-day lunch for 2 on the last day of 2019. Me; Ridgeway; She, Atlanta Ga. Both; a terrific time & year-ending dine. The decor, the friendly service and suggestions, the authentic Italian flavour and flair, and timeless tomato-rich red sauce, even boldly better when complimented with their amazing complimentary 'pepper & oil' side. (simply nicknamed 'Spicy') NOTE; a treat on their fresh-baked bread. Crispy coated Arancini and Supli, still cheesy-rice 'just-right' oh-so-moist inside. Perfect pairings with our Pasta and our Stew. Tempted by the appealing fish special, but saving that experience for a soon-to-be return. First time, far from a last time, I just wanted to highly recommend, and say THANKS.

The only good thing I have to say is the view is nice from the patio, but perhaps springing for some cushions for the metal seats is a thought. Our server was nice but slow with bringing stale bread. My bloody Caesar was so bland, hardly anything on the rim of the glass and missing Worcester sauce I guess because I asked for no Tabasco? My caprese salad had no basil and an end cut of tomato, my friends Caesar salad was lacking in garlic and her husbands anchovy bruschetta was on the same stale bread as the dipping bread. His grilled sardines were over cooked and dry. He has two sons that are chefs so he knows what he’s talking about. My girlfriends veal piccata was devoid of lemon sauce and was mushy tasting. Lasagna was good, my pasta was boring. It was our 45th anniversary and our friends were treating us. I was mortified that I suggested this place. I let the staff know of our disappointment. Lots of sorries and excuses, and didn’t comp A SINGLE THING!!! The tiramisu with the candle was nice, but by then the damage was done. Not sure I’d even go back for pizza. Awful, awful, awful.

The presentation of food dishes was good. The patio is beautiful. However, when asked for a wine list The waiter said he would tell us what they had...no list. When I made the wine selection...a bottle of Montepuchello (not sure of spelling) it was brought to us in a carafe. The waiter said they don't bring the bottles. It clearly states on the food menu that there is an upcharge for substitutions. That's okay but I changed from penne to spaghetti or said whatever kind of pasta they had available and the charge was $6.98. The wine was $52 and I think we should have had the bottle and I think the upcharge was a bit hefty. Overall I think the prices are a little high for the quality of food. Just my opinion.

Phenomenal food - the chef & owner is an awesome thoughtful man and his staff is just as good as him :) and very thoughtful. Thank you for an amazing dinner & lunch - yes it was that good I returned later from Niagara Falls just to enjoy dinner too... The food elevates the experience - the restaurant is right by the Niagara river - its beautiful and I can't wait until spring/summer whenever the patio opens up - I enjoyed the seafood pasta, lasagna, branzino and the bread was to die for as well - it was like sitting in Italian on a beautiful summer day without leaving home. I am a foodie and this has just become my favorite restaurant - the restaurant is the same quality as you get in Yorkville (yes it is the same owner!!) but you have the charm of Niagara Falls.. Everything is made to order and is authentic and homemade but with sophistication and elegance.

I cannot say enough fantastic words to describe this establishment. The service and the food are truly a 12/10. Every time I’m in Fort Erie I must make a trip to eat at Vaticano’s. I have never left this restaurant in the 12 times I’ve been not 100% satisfied. We’ve gifted our friends and family the hot oil and jars of homemade sauce and everyone absolutely loves it. Would highly highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!

If I could give this 6 stars I would!! I don’t think I’ve ever had a better meal in my life!! Decor is beautiful and cozy. We were the only people there and the owner, Felice, made me Chicken Piccatta which was truly the best I've ever had! We told our (sweetest, friendliest) waitress, Fran, that we were having a belated birthday celebration trip. After our dinner, she and Felice came out with homemade cheesecake (also mind-blowing) with a candle and sang happy birthday to me. I was so tickled I just wanted to jump up and hug them both. Such a great experience and I now have a new favorite restaurant!

My husband and I ate at Vaticno shortly after they first opened. The wait staff, while still finding their footing, were very friendly and attentive. The overall ambiance was incredible. The extensive renovations to the space combined with the our view of Niagara river made for a lovely meal indoors on an otherwise cold and bleak night. The food was delicious. I had the pasta special and my husband had the gnocchi. You can tell the pasta is fresh and made in-house. My husband still describes his dinner as the "best gnocchi" he's ever had. Although the fare might be a bit more expensive than the average Fort Erie restaurant, you are paying for a quality meal and the overall experience. I would definitely recommend Vaticano for a romantic date night or if you want to treat friends/loved ones to a high-end dining experience without making the trek all the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

House centipede in my friends wine was a yucky start. A group of 9 of us had made reservations to celebrate a birthday. $55.95 for a steak. Food is very over priced sevice was terrible. Took an hour for my friend to get a glass of water. My other friend ordered a second beer which never came. My meal was ok but certainly not worth the $28 I paid for chicken and salad. Club soda was $8 for 2 glasses! My other friend had spaghetti and meatballs the meatballs were cold. None of us will ever be returning!!!!! Very dissapointing. I do not reccomend going here.

Really nice looking place,the waitress was friendly .The food took a hour and 1/2after Ordering.My sister ordered the salmon and I chicken parmigiana.The salmon was over cooked and my sister sent it back.The waitress came back and said she ordered It med well? It wasnt a steak! It was fish.my sister wasnt willing to wait another hour and half So she had no dinner.My dinner was fine But the pasta was really salty and mushy.I was so hungry I just ate it. There was a family of 4 who came in at the same time,the kids were crying as they were hungry.The waitress told them to eat more bread. For upscale dining,this was a poor excuse, Very expensive and didnt produce anything Good for the money. They really need to get quality chefs and more than 1 for the money they charge. Had the margarita pizza the porcini mushroom ravioli, the five meatballs and the tomato basil soup. Plus two half liters of wine. I am glad that I chose this restaurant and I will definitely be back. Delicious food amazing service. Do not listen to the bad reviews those are just cheap people with poor taste. Thank you for the great night. Very comfortable atmosphere.

We were there today in off hours (4pm) Phil was pinch hitting as chef and server he did an excellent job I had veal marsala it was perfectly done my wife had carbonara also great. Sevice was great!Thanks Phil

Kabir is an excellent host. So kind, friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. The restaurant is immaculate and the ambience superb. The food is so delicious. If you're looking for fine dining, don't look here. Was pricey, however the quality and taste did not meet expectations or the price would've been acceptable. Also, we didn't get what we ordered. Made reservations and good thing we called to confirm because they didn't have us down. Very disappointing....

Visited here today for the very first time. I am moving to fort Erie soon, so I came down to check out the area. Saw that this restaurant had great reviews so I decided to check it out. We did take out due to the pandemic but we hope to eat in soon, as the ambiance was gorgeous. Overall the food was amazing quality . Owner and chef extremely warm, hospitable and accommodating. My family was not eating meat today but absolutely loved all of the vegetarian options. Order the mushroom Ravioli with truffle oil, it is incredibly divine. Their spinach angolotti, eggplant parm and Della salad was impeccable as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for high quality Italian food

There was only one server. Took forever for food to come and when it did it was cold. I know I won't be returning there. Would not recommend that place to anyone. All 3 of us were very disappointed in the place.

They have a sister restaurant in yorkville (the nice area of Toronto) and has been serving celebs for years so you know the foods going to be good! Little bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it for pasta and sauce made from scratch — it’s fine dining Italian food with a relaxed atmosphere. Will for sure be going back next time we pass through the border!

the food here is absolutely amazing, authentic Italian. Choices on the menu were endless, it was hard to pick one thing. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. the chef even came out to talk about his recipies. And the desserts....well fabulous. Not one thing I would change definitely a hidden gem in Fort Erie. i will definately be back.

AmazIng place! Amazing owner with quite a history of serving A-list actors from Hollywood at his other restaurant in Toronto. Linguini Puttanesca and Seabass were so delicious for dinner. Fran the waitress is one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Gorgeous decor and beautiful patio with view of the Niagara River. I'm coming from Toronto and this is truly a gem. Will come back as often as I can.

We have been to Vaticano several times. However our last visit is definitely our last. The first couple times very good- pizza, Tagliere Misto. We went for my birthday and my husband's gnocchi was absolutely awful. They did take it off the bill. The presentation of the Taglieri Misto was unappealing - end of cheese with the rind on - nothing like the 1st time. We decided to give it one more try and were disappointed. The Taglieri Misto had a couple small pieces of cheese, few slices of meat and stale "bread " which the waitress took out of a jar and it took over 20 minutes to get to the table. If you want a good charcuterie go down the street to the Lighthouse Restaurant. I will say the waitresses are friendly and helpful and the view is lovely.

Service was excellent, the outdoor patio was excellent, food was good, wine was initially disappointing since our first 2 choices were out of stock so we ended up getting the litre of house red and it was good and the most economical. We love dogs so this wasn't a problem but the upstairs apartment overlooking the patio has 2 yappy dogs.

VATICANO RESTAURANTA, Fort Erie is a new location after VATICANO YORKVILLE Toronto, the place where celebrities give visits. The owner and chef FELICE offer you dishes from mother recipe. The view of piece bridge is breathtaking. It doesn't stop here..... In spring the opening of patio view with 20feet from lake erie is mind-blowing. The decorations and music will create ambience of The Italian Castle. We can't forget about wonderful variety of Wines from Italy and California as well as Argentina, Chilli. With warm and humble service highly recommended and will be your favourite place after one visit.

This restaurant checked all the boxes from the beginning to the end. Patio and view amazing, as was Fran, our waitress and the veal marsalla and seafood risotto (so much seafood in it!!). Can't wait to eat there again! Bravo!!!!
