Surprisingly they don't have online reservations like Open Table. The old fashion call in for reservations. I couldn't book online and when we showed up, there was only seating outside. The patio upstairs was closed. Maybe too hot this day. First time I ate on the patio. My wife jumped the gun and agreed to the patio. I would've went across the street to Vibo. Having dinner with transit buses flying by was not a great ambiance for French dining. My doctor recommended this though we both have similar tastes. He recommended we try it once. Once is enough. Food is not spectacular, I can go "almost" anywhere and have similar results, no offense to the chef.

Unfortunately we decided not to dine here on 5/3/2019 as we were told by waitress upon arrival we have 2 minutes to order as kitchen is closing early due to a slow night. We arrived at 9:40pm while stated closing hours are 11pm. I can understand it being any other weekday closing early, however a Friday night there should not be any excuse to close early. We ended up dining elsewhere and spending a combined $100 for two people as we do not limit ourselves when dining out; a lost opportunity for this restaurant.

I have been to this spot about half a dozen times before this evening. Like the atmosphere, and the food is good, never an issue. The service is typically good and quick. It's a smallish space so generally things are prompt. Tonight our server was surly, not really friendly at all. First time I was disappointed. We were celebrating a birthday and all was well except the server's attitude. I expect it was an off night but unfortunate for our party.

If you are looking for authentic, delicious, French food this is the place. You will not be disappointed. Service is friendly and prompt. We went there for lunch but be warned, the kitchen closes at 2pm so plan accordingly. The restaurant stays open but you can't order any food beyond that time. We were there during a very busy lunch hour and it was quite loud in the restaurant but overall it has a nice ambiance. Will definitely return!

Decent food but poor service - my mother took my for my birthday, and I (someone who loves food) could only find one thing on the menu I was actually interested in. Then, at dessert, when I told the waitress that "I think I will have the creme brulee" she didn't bring it to me because she "thought I wasn't sure I wanted it" and then tried to BLAME ME for not "communicating clearly". She easily could have apologized and brought it, but instead she made a scene and tried to blame me - due to that incident I will not be going back there.

There was a time when you dined at Merlot, you just knew you were going to have a great culinary experience. A Wonderful Meal. French cuisine at its finest. Oh la la the flavors- Yes they cooked with Butter once upon a time. Last night I was quite disappointed "Again". Previous visit were also a let down- First of all for a cost of close to $300.00 with tip for four people, I do not appreciate PAPER covering the nice crisp white tablecloths. This is not Swiss Chalet-where are the crayons??? Although the service and the staff were very good, the over priced menu was disappointing. We had the Fish soup-maybe two chunks of fish-maybe, the rest, a mush of tomato puree- we had one of the specials-Pickeral which was terribly bland, I had the Icelandic Cod which perhaps was on its last day. The mashed potatoes were delish. My son had the salmon-he did like it-my daughter in law had the seafood linguine and she also enjoyed it. Overall Not impressed-they will have to make major changes to get us back there for sure. Lose the very unattractive paper table coverings.

I'd never been to this restaurant previously but it is really a beautiful restaurant. Loved the atmosphere - plenty of interesting and eclectic paintings and pictures to keep your eyes engaged, large bar and plenty of seating, fantastic food with larger than expected portion sizes, and a gracious and friendly host and wait staff. I appreciated their prix-fix menu which included a glass of champagne which paired perfectly with my meal and wonderful strawberry covered cheesecake - yum!!! Definitely a restaurant to return to in the future.

Came here for a business meeting. The decor is beautiful and very unique. They have been at this location for a long time. The food was to die for and our server was lovely. Do yourself a favour and start with the charcuterie board and finish your meal off with their crème caramel! We will be back.

Came here last friday and sat on the patio and when it started to rain the waitress made no effort to accomodate us downstairs or under the shade and practically made us fend for ourselves. The service was terrible as not once did the waitress come to check on us, offer refills and at the end got our bill wrong. The food was basic, ordered the seabass and literllay tasted liked they squeezed lemon over it....something i could do with my eyes closed and not pay $20+ for. Certainly will not be coming back as far better restaurants available.
