Best Turkish food in GTA

My first Turkish cuisine restaurant since I came to Toronto. They are the BEST in everything, from service to food. Before ordering the food from the menu I would like to suggest to tell the server about your preference. The server will recommend the dish from the menu as per your liking. This recommendation I am proposing on my experience with my 2 visits.

The food is sooo delicious here. I'm so happy I found this place. I got to to try the pide and mix meat platter. I got to try their traditional yogurt drink which was so good, wasn't expecting it to me savory but it was delicious. The service was amazing throughout but towards the end we were waiting around 10-15 mins to have someone check in with us because we needed the bill. Overall I'd definitely go here again and recommend this place to friends and family. This place is halal so everyone can enjoy!

We have been coming here for almost 9 years. Their food has always been the best and has stayed the best. Quality and portions has always been consistent. If anyone ever wants to try Turkish food, i always suggest Kebab 49 to friends and family. The adana and pide are my favourite but honestly, everything is great.

Inconsistent! Sometimes the food is good. Sometimes the staff are nice and welcoming. Sometimes the restaurant is clean. I was okay with (sometimes) because I felt like this is my place. However, Today’s experience was horrible, the manager made us feel like liars, and that we try not to pay the 18% service that should be paid by groups of 8+. We were two families that happened to be there at the same time, we wanted separate tables, we didn’t want to set together, this was the truth. Yet, the discussion with the manager was sickening to the extent that we lost any desire for food and we did not enter the restaurant and we left.. And we will NEVER go back again.

We ordered take out here during one of the Covid lockdowns. We had kebab on top of an eggplant sauce and a huge platter of various dips. Make sure you get extra plain pide, (fresh made bread ) they bake there, it was great with all of our dips! Delicious!

Great place to taste the Turkish cuisine. The prices are reasonable. My suggestion is to try to get there from 11am to 2pm to try the Turkish breakfast menu. The parking lot is available and convenient to get there from Kipling subway station. Overall recommended.

The food is Delicious and tasty- however the portion is somehow small and little bit pricey. The time I visited Kebab 49 it was crowded and everyone in the restaurant was very busy so we experienced some delay in the service but it was acceptable . I came in yesterday with a group of friends, we were able to find a place to sit, the booth areas were very comfortable to sit on, the place is very clean and organized and the service was a top notch. The food we ordered didn’t take long and tasted amazing. I am giving Kebab 49 five stars because they deserve it, every was really good, I will visit it again for sure. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

Glad we tried this place. I especially like how their food is very well seasoned but not too much, not too greasy (which I find in a lot of other restaurants). We had chicken shish platter, chicken sandwich and hummus. Everything was tasty and very good portion for price. They have the traditional stone oven and freshly bake their pizzas there which is awesome. Will definitely come back when we’re in the area.

Food was good but service was not good when we sat down on the table it was sticky our hands and our phones were sticking to the table we asked them to clean it even after cleaning still it was sticky I guess it needs a deep cleaning. They were short on staff we had to wait 30 minutes to get our order and after we finished we had to wait 20 minutes to get our bill finally I got up from the table and went to the front and ask the guy give us a bill as we had been waiting for 20 minutes. Staff seemed really busy no one asked if we needed something. It was very busy almost all tables were full. Food was good and fresh but they really need to work on their service and cleanliness.

The portions are big and the prices are within the market average. I ordered Adana Urfa Kabab, Chicken Shish, and mixed Veal and Lamb Kabab. All these platters were super delicious which come with salad and your choice between rice or french fries. The dining place was comfortable and the servers were so nice and welcoming.

do not go to this restaurant, I wish if I can give them less than a star, the waitress are absolutely rude , they don’t have any clue about customer service. Two incidents occurred at this place. I usually go to this restaurant every week, but apparently I will never go again. I usually come and sit in the patio right away, So I was waiting for someone to take my order AS USUAL, then the cashier came up to me and approached me in a rude way and he told me why did I sit here without letting him know , I told him do you want me to step outside, he said it’s fine in a rude way. Second time my mom was sitting on the table and other waiter asked her to change the table that she was already sitting on because there was a group of people waiting outside, which is really rude.

Great food, portions, and customer service! Pricing on par with other Turkish restaurants around the GTA. We ordered the Feta Rolls (appetizer), Adana Kebab (with rice/bread/salad), and Chicken Doner Pide. Everything was delicious and loved that there's complimentary Turkish tea at the end of the meal. Also liked that they provided extra sauce without an additional charge - I've noticed other Turkish/Middle Eastern restaurants doing that lately which is really annoying. Will definitely go back!

Kebab 49 is a great place to go for Turkish food outside of the action and noise of downtown Toronto. For being a small restaurant in Etobicoke, the food here is authentic with flavours that leave a lasting impression.

My food was fantastic I got the chicken shish and finished my plate, my husband got the veal shish and he said it was very tough and chewy, he did not enjoy it. The presentation of the food was not good, the plates had food spilling off the sides, that I think should be cleaned off before it is handed to a customer. Finally, The service was so so but not bad. Overall just average I would come back for the chicken again but I don’t think my husband would!

We've come here twice with large groups and both times the customer service and the food were excellent even as we reached close to closing time. The staff is very accommodating with requests, is enthusiastic about birthday celebrations and making an extra effort to make sure we have a good time. The food usually arrives quick and would recommend ordering the large platter with various kebabs, rolls, and couscous. Would also recommend the cheese pide and cheese rolls. They also have a very pleasant patio. Keep up the good work!

Just WOW. I ordered the Kebab mix platter for takeout and absolutely loved it. Everything was super flavourful, especially the veal and lamb???? the chicken was a bitttt dry but still delish. If you're picking up your food, I'd recommend checking out their pick up feature on the website. You pay ahead and they send you a quick text about your order's timeline (usually ready within 20 mins). Definitely coming back here again!

Super unsupervised! Chefs cooking are constantly on the phone. They would rather Facebook then actually cook. Today I ordered lamb doner ,it was made wrong ! No problem fix it up right? Nooo these guys refused to fix it so I ordered the same thing second time so I can actually get it the right way and I paid for both sandwiches even though one was made wrong by them. However I waited for Ejder to cook my lavas bread for about 18 minutes while he was sitting down in woodoven station with his hand on his phone. He kept looking at me once every other minute too so he fully knew I was there waiting, other chefs kept asking for the lavas,even waiters were bothered by how long I had to wait and kept reminding Ejder but he was sooo busy with his phone ,he could care less and give them rude answers back. This was absolutely a terrible experience. And when I ate my durum wrap the lavas tasted like Manti pastry before its cooked, it was super under cooked, you could taste how raw the dough was. If I served this restaurants owner the same way I was served at his restaurant, I wonder what he will do. If you want a true Turkish quality food experience , that has to include top of the line service! I will give 2 stars to food and 0 stars to service! never have I ever been served by someone as unpleasant as Ejder. DONT GO TO WORK IF YOU HATE YOUR WORK! He single handedly made me hate this place.

I was usually a big fan of this place however tonight really changed things. Ordered our food, and our server was never to be seen again until it was time to pay. 2 of the 5 meals were cold and not to mention the eggplant dip only came with 3 pieces of bread. Didn’t check up on us throughout our meal. We actually had to call him over to ask where our pide appetizer was (which came out last). It seems they didn’t have any problems checking up on their own people. What a let down for the Turkish cuisine, this is the last time I’ll visit this place.

I was blown away. Everything at this restaurant is superb: food aesthetics, service, taste. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous; they genuinely care for you to have a great experience. The food comes in a great presentation on a chopping board, arranged in a cute display. Every flavour was great. The bulgar has a great strong flavour. The meat is tender, juicy, and nicely spiced. Combining and eating the flavours together elevates them all. They even made a lentil soup that I thoroughly enjoyed (for someone who normally does not care for lentils). I am definitely coming back here. (Also, we got the mixed platter which is a large portion but has great variety and is definitely worth it)

I only got shwarma sandwich and it's pretty good but I give 1 star because service is the thing I care about most. I've gone about 20 something times and they still don't give me enough sauce. The amount was ok sometimes. If they want to charge me for it, do it but don't say ok if you're not going to. I believe there's a method they use where they put the sauce close to the end so it looks like they put a good amount.. and knowing that, I just stopped ordering from them. To make things worse, my driver always tipped them 1-2 dollars. There's also this one guy who is there sometimes and would be rude to my driver by staring and not greeting him.

The good: the quantity of food for the price was good. Looked relatively fresh, well seasoned and clean. The place is nice inside and the menu has lots to choose from. The not so good: initial server was very rushed, less than helpful, did not bring us utensils, seemed like she did not have time for us, and brought us an order we didn't ask for and pushed it on us saying thats what she heard. During the meal she had an argument with another staff and left. The next server was much more pleasant and served with a Smile. Parking was full in front so we found a spot behind and trekked over slippery ice around to the entrance. Maybe all the salt went onto the food and non keft to salt the driveway. The food quality was mediocre. The chicken was good but not the meat. Yogurt salad was pure garlic and olive oil.

The one star is for the blonde server lady because she was very rude, frown and very un-welcoming! Also, another important POINT IS THAT THEY HAVE ONLY ONE CHILD CHAIR AT THE RESTAURANT !!!!!!!! But overall the food was too delicious.

One of the best turkish restaurants in Ontario. Good food & friendly service. I just would prefer a better interior design, so I can feel I'm in turkey, and I'm saying that cuz I've been to turkey it's a beautiful country! So the restaurant should reflect that. In general I give it 8/10 :D

Such a disappointing review to write. We had takeout from here previously and really enjoyed it so we were looking forward to exploring the menu. The place was NOT busy so that is not an excuse for what happened. While the wait staff was pleasant enough they missed on execution. The most glaring mistake was not giving one of the meals we ordered. Also, we are pretty sure that one of the meals we got was not what we ordered. The sequence of service was also off. My son ordered fries as a side to his sandwich but it was delivered to our table before even the appetizer. The food is excellent and we prefer it to shawarma and it did not disappoint. Service needs a lot of work.

Food was awesome. Really tasty Turkish cuisine. Staff is good and friendly. Couple of things that are to watch out are first 0aeking. The parking lot is small and as the restaurant is right off the busy Dundas street, it is very difficult if you pull in and there is no space and you have to back out. Other area of bit improvement is ambience. It could be improved especially the extension which is like a tent. It can get really cold. The restaurant management has the gas heaters there but it is not comfortable.

Halal: YES First impression of a restaurant is based on the vibes and how the restaurant is set up, the environment, etc. That was all good, nothing to complain there. Second impression, which is a big one, is customer service. That was horrendous. Our server was extremely rude. There was no water served. For appetizers, they only brought 4 plates for a group of 6. No cutlery, no napkins, brought only 1 bucket of naan, which wasn't enough for us and despite requesting them over to get us missing plates and drinks etc, they didn't come. We literally had to go and grab the utensils, napkins, and cutlery ourselves. Food was great though. Hence I didn't give them one star. All their items were authentic Turkish. It reminded me of the taste and flavours I had when I was in Istanbul for vacation. I will go again, only hoping to be served by better server next time around.

We went here with great expectations but the food let us down. It is a busy place no doubt but somehow the food did not keep up. We took the pida and it was all soggy not at all crisp as it usually is supposed to be. The feta cheese rolls were way salty. The platter of mixed meat was missing flavor. I have to say the smell of the wood bbq attracted me to this place and the food did not disappoint, it was very delicious. However, I must say I was almost turned away by 2 things. Even though i placed the order for takeout over the phone I still had to wait a long time for my food, over 35 minutes from the time I placed my order. Second is the wrong price, I paid more for my order than it was advertised, both on website and at the restaurant. When I asked them about it they apologized, they didnt have time to update advertised prices, but still made me pay higher price. Because the food was goo I will give them another chance.

You wanna try delicious kebob. Don't even bother to try this one. Go somewhere else and make some use of your money and time. Prices are three time of what the taste of food is. Not worth it at all. If you are craving a home made soup, you must try the lentil soup made Turkish style with flat bread and lemon. I ordered food from this Turkish neighbour over 7 years and it’s always consistent. The Turkish pizza made with spinach and cheese is also very yummy. Absolutely love it and would recommend lentil soup for vegans especially!

The restaurant on the inside is nice and everything looks professional at first glance. However you'll see in my photo that this place is a gross rip-off. The image shows what I ordered, Beef Shish ($20.00) This is $20 worth of food? The rice in the image is the cheapest type of rice you can find in any grocery store, which is par-boiled rice, not the standard, basmati biryani-style rice. They did not season the par-boiled rice, it was plain. The beef had a nice char-broiled flavour at first but was dry, about 5 minutes over-cooked. Overall the flavour was acceptable, but the ingredient quality is insulting, and while the portion size was enough to feed one person, it is a gross value proposition for anybody who values their money. I would value this experience at $10.99 if I went somewhere else and the beef wouldn't be overcooked, and I would have gotten a seasoned restaurant quality rice.

Lovely Turkish Resturant. I haven’t eaten anything yet from here which I don’t love. They have authentic Iskende Kebabp, Adana Kebabp, Urfa Kebabp and Lahmachoon. I recomend everyone to eat Iskender Kebab and Kunafa in desert. Rest is your choice as all dishes are very good.

One of the most popular establishments in the neighbourhood, Kebab 49 serves Turkish dishes, which are absolutely well prepared and presented. Food is extremely delicious, and staff members are quite helpful. The restaurant is spacious and is close to Kipling subway station. Highly recommend!

Nice restaurant with friendly staff. Service was moderate even when the restaurant was packed for Eid so I'm assuming they do a fantastic job when it's not too packed. Thr servers listened to you and my food was served exactly as I asked for. Absolutely loved the experience.

Trash overpriced food. I dont know how is this place stays busy. Upon entrance then waitress asked me if I have a mask while I could see everyone without it. She said you could take it off as soon as you sit. I sat down within 2 minutes ad took it off ????

Always come here on special occasions or when I miss there food. The staff are very nice, and helpful. The food is very delicious, I always get the chicken doner or the pide. There kanafe and baklava is very good to have as well. I also enjoy that they give out tea once your done with your food, very hospitable and enjoyable. They recently opened up there patio and it's very nice. I really do recommend dining here there's always families here and very comfortable and welcoming.

Great value and quality. Got the sandwich combo and was very pleased. There aren't many restaurants with Turkish cuisine in the area to choose from, so this is a nice change from the typical burger place or Asian food.

So tasty ????????,usually I don’t like to eat meat too much,your Ali nazeek dish was just perfect,the meat so juicy and delicious,I ate all of it ???? even my family enjoyed their food,the lady Who took our orders was so nice and the gentlemen were very quick and helpful,my only advice is to install the hot air curtain to the main door,because we sat next to the door and it was really cold when the customers opened the door every 5 minutes to enter or go out. Thank you so much ????

We went for dinner to this restaurant last night it was beautiful restaurant very clean friendly staff fast service i didn't expect the food would come so fast they even brought us a big plate of sald as a complementary it was so nice of them.
