Wonderful place, or favorite neighborhood restaurant!
Good, quick meal. I had the chicken vermicelli and thought it easily held up to the quality of most restaurants in Victoria, for a fair price. It is a small restaurant with limited seating, but there is a small parking lot behind the building which makes it an easy stop for quick lunch during a work week. The entrance to the lot is to the right of the front door.
Siracha sauce was watered down and the soup broth was very mediocre. Very average.
Friendly place with tasty food! I'm coming back.
Tonight I told the chef to cook me what he would choose, so I got a very nice sizzling plate of Spicy Black Bean Chicken with rice. Very nice and too much so I took some home for lunch tomorrow. The owner is very nice and the service was quick and polite. Keep up the good work guys.
The service was excellent and the food was even better! I highly recommend Vietnam Garden. The coconut fried rice was unreal, definitely one of the first things you should try. I’ll definitely be coming here often!
The services were good, the restaurant looked clean but the foods weren’t so impressive, the portions are actually quite small
I love this place and their food! And also the paintings on the wall! Awesome spot to dine out!
Great pho!
(Translated) You can eat delicious mutton noodle soup and large chicken. A shop that you must visit when you have time. (Original) 能吃到很好吃的 羊肉汤面 和 大盘鸡。有空必去的一家店。
Amazing flavour by far the best pho I've had in Victoria and super friendly staff/management A+
Vietnam Garden adds to the list of gems that are hidden away in the Esquimalt area. I could not fathom why no one was dining there on a wednesday evening, but I'm glad our party of four visited. We each ordered different dishes and were pleased with everything. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you're looking for something different.
Hidden gem. Try the spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup.
One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The food is so much more flavorful than most Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in the past.
The owner is very friendly, and the food is fantastic. Recently moved here and I cant stop coming back
Super impressed with the food and atmosphere. It feels so authentic, and the food was delicious. Very friendly owners. Highly recommend!
I have no idea how this establishment is four stars. The miso veggie pho tastes like water with noodles, there is one vegetable and no lime or cilantro served with it. Overall very disappointing.
Good food, good price and pleasant service
Very boring, bland and disappointing. Could easily drive a few more blocks and pay the same for much better food!
The menu at Vietnam Garden is delicious and varied, and the servings here are not skimpy. The walls being covered in drawings makes for interesting and memorable decoration!
(Translated) Great pho (Original) Great phò
Pretty average Vietnamese food, but their specials are quite good
A nice little place tucked away, warm comforting environment. The food is delicious and is clearly made with care. I highly recommend.
We were a party of three who wanted to get away from the more crowded pubs and visit with one another. GREAT food. Fresh, tasty, more than reasonably priced AND enough for breakfast the next day. It was SO good. In fact, we'll be back in town this coming Monday (December 20, 2016) and will be taking a local pair who will be adding this one to their favourite (Gaby's loses by being closed Mondays.. yeah, it's winter .. BRRRRR from P.A.)
Just a block away from home. Definitely eat there often. Favorites are, mild spicy cashew chicken and honey garlic pork. Great dine in specials. Consistently good and friendly service.
Great food, friendly staff. They have really good lemon grass beef noodle soup or spicy cashew chicken. Their dessert menu also packs quite a few surprises like the Deep Fried Banana(see picture). The prices are fair and the location is nice and quiet. They have ample parking in the back of the restaurant.
Really cute, good pho ????
According to my nephew, the Vietnamese coffee (iced) was the best. Owner very nice.
Charming family-run restaurant serving consistently delicious food. Have been a happy regular for many years!
Great customer service!! The food is spectacular, very tasty and generous portions Loved looking at all the art and finding out the story behind them. This is a great place to lunch or dinner and you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend.
Have looked at the website Twice for open hours and drove in from langford. Arrived both times and it was closed. Hours on website are NOT the operating hours. 2 trips in for soup we were craving, only for it to be closed. Other people were walking up, discovering it was closed as well. Really need to update the hours on Google.
Awesome food. Great pricing
Hello, Very unique and tasty menu serve with old classic school. Customer comes FIRST. Meals delicious and variety always available. Helpfull service and very kind too. Not because of tips!!! Because this family really enjoy what they do and how they do. They have this restaurant not for money only but mostly to present own culture through their cousine. Always will recommend. This is not fancy restaurant but unique meals as I mention before but decoration colourfull as well. You should eat over their to experience yuorself. Im sure you will bring your friends and they will come back same as you. We need more places like this restaurant. Spirit of real life not corporation with franchise.
Yummy food, reasonably priced.
Ordered lemongrass chicken and beef vermicelli bowl. Both were way too salty, and the lemongrass chicken didn't have any lemongrass flavor.
Great war won ton.
I ordered the spicy lemongrass soup with shrimp and it did not disappoint. The broth was light yet flavourful, and broccoli was a nice addition. Will come back to try other menu items!
Excellent restaurant, great food and service. You will love this restaurant
Out of the way, little dated spot....but great friendly staff, excellent food....and very accommodating owners....go to spot when we come back to Victoria...
We came in little late but they served us anyways and the food was really fast and very delicious with epic portion sizes at a super reasonable price! I like how everything seemed very fresh and homemade as well. Also loved all the artwork all over the walls done by the owner and his son, will definitely be back!
This is an excellent restaurant with very fresh products. If you enjoy traditional Vietnamese food this is the place you should go!
Absolutely love it here, amazing food, great prices and amazing for gluten and dairy free options!!
The best PHO I've had in town so far!
Last Saturday I had a delicious meal consisting of curry chicken soup to start followed by Caramel fish, house special fried rice and salt and pepper squid. I made sure that I ordered lots so that I could take a lot home and it was just as good the next night at home.
Decent neighborhood Asian restaurant.
This is a wonderful family run Vietnamese restaurant decorated with family art - most the owner’s son’s art. The service is excellent and the menu is large and varied. The chalk board is definitely worth checking out too as those items change every now and then. Sizzling Fish is fabulous. Another of our favourites is the five spice squid, though the war won ton is one of the best I’ve ever had. We usually order from the menu on the chalk board as they're definitely the specialties.
Fantastic food! The spring rolls are crispy with a sweet dipping sauce, crispy pork, flavourful beef with a salad with just a hint of cilantro. Clearly a seasoned professional with a bouquet of talent. Fantastic service! Cannot recommend highly enough! Try the deep fried banana and caramel, i dare you! Thank you Ken!
I learned about this place after I moved to Esquimalt and I went to find a restaurant called The Lighthouse, which was a wonderful experience several years ago. The original restaurant -also top-of-the-line- was gone and displaced by this one we had no experience of; however, it had truly outstanding culinary reviews from a wide variety of Victoria papers & magazines. It's best described as high-end Vietnamese with French cuisine upgrades, as well as Miracles created by the chef-owner. So do yourself a flavour-saver and Discover it ASAP!
Nice place, great food, awesome people!!!
Excellent food. Atmosphere is so so. Temperature was cold.
hidden gem. authentic and delicious
I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this place. We ordered in the hot and sour chicken soup and the beef and broccoli, omg i haven't had this good food in forever. The the price is an added bonus. Honestly if you haven't tried it, you must!
Pho was not pho. Broth was pork broth. Sad.
The best Vietnamese food in Victoria! Authentic and fresh, the portions were so delicious and large. The restaurant is locally owned and family run, the food tastes like it’s been made with love! The owner is kind and catering, and the walls are filled with beautiful art by his family. It doesn’t get better than this. I would definitely drive across town for this takeout
The pho and bun bo hue (sp is wrong I'm sure, sorry) were really bland. I would go back and try other things though!
The food was delicious here and the service was great. They had the food prepared in short time and were very friendly. I loved the atmosphere and the pictures on the walls. Clean location and quiet. The prices weren't too bad and the value was worth it. I'd suggest coming here again. Great place to eat and very nice service.
Great food and service!
What a sweet little neighborhood place. ???? My dad and I pigged put on caramel fish, kung pao chicken and a Singaporean noodle stir fry of sorts with bbq pork and shrimp off the chefs special board. Was all super yummy and I'm definitely going back soon to try the soups and phos this time!!
We both had the specials. Their menu is bigger than it looks. The chicken shrimp Shanghai noodle with peanut sauce was delicious. The chicken was marinated, which make it feel a bit fake but still tasty. The shrimp was perfect. The Ginger beef and veg was perfect. It came with a surprise bowl of rice, which was nice to mix in the sauce. The beef was perfectly deep fried and the veg was crispy and easy to eat. It was all very hot. The hostess was pleasant and the music was subtle. Highly recommended.
Not bad but noodles and bowls smelled a little like detergent. Possibly from dish washer.
Good food! Great hosts.
The entire experience was great. 5 spice squid was awesome. Portions are really generous so it's nice to go with a group and share plates. Oh and deep fried bananas. They have deep fried bananas.
Amazing paintings by the owner/cook. Great choices in food.
I love places like this with a unique menu and great atmosphere.
Excellent food. Fast service and very reasonable prices.
Eww!! Terrible pho!! The worst pho I ever had.
Fantastic
Brings me back to the days of tasty Asian food. Definitely will go back. Love to support local businesses and glad to see they doing well. Busy spot but I didn't have a long wait
This was our first time there and we very much enjoyed ourselves. We ordered a bottle of red wine and the lovely gentleman came with 5 different bottles for us to choose from. They were friendly and helpful. I asked for a vegetarian recommendation and he suggested the stir fry veggies and cashews which was really good. After dinner they gave us a couple cookies and strawberries. The people were just so wonderful, great service! We will be back for sure!
Delicious ginger beef and veggie spring rolls.
Ken makes the best dishes, I had wonton soup with chicken and shrimp, so clean and tasty.
Great place with great food. Good sized portions
Friendly atmosphere with a small family business feel. The Singapore noodle dish is always great.
Amazing Pho. Best I've ever had.
This restaurant deserves more than a five star! The food was beyond amazing and the service was flawless! We went in for dinner quite late, right before they closed and the owner, Ken, was very patient and accommodating. We will definitely be going back when we visit Victoria again!
I want to support small local business and it’s easy because I’ve never been disappointed in the food here. Sizzling caramel fish is my favourite. Also love the big bowls of noodle soup. I’d recommend in particular the spicy coconut curry and the chicken spring rolls which are crunchy and yummy and also the salad rolls with the best peanut sauce.
Food is fresh and inexpensive. Vegetarian food is offered. For evening dining it is generally quiet.
Spring rolls were excellent, great Pho
So good! I had the beef brisket noodle soup and the shrimp salad rolls. So so so good. Ken (the owner) is very accommodating. I also love how his son’s artwork covers the walls. Great food, great vibes. Will definitely come back!
A humble local place for delicious Vietnamese food. I had the chicken red curry, and it was delicious, balanced, and for great value. Also, service was super friendly. I'll be going back for more!
Great food, generous servings and good value.
It's alright. Not great but not bad either.
First review I've ever made. If you love pho you've gotta try the spicy lemongrass beef it's phenomenal. Best I've ever had ????????????
Great service, food and friendly staff. A place I and friends always return to.
Good service good food !!
Good salad and spring rolls
Fast courteous service! Casual dining.
Fantastic singapore noodles, can't wait to try more!
The pho here was decent- the broth was flavorful and had a fresh, spiced taste to it, and the noodles were cooked well. However, the beef in our beef brisket pho was disappointing. It felt like an afterthought to what was a good base- tough, flavorless, unappetizing slabs of vaguely beef like substance.
Good healthy food. The staff is nice.
Best dam pad tigh ive ever had !!
The food here is usually so good it is hard to describe,it is always made with care and love ,we go there a least once a week!!
We have been coming here for the last 4 years. The owner is super friendly and remembers us, always greeting people with a big smile. Plenty of tasty dishes to choose from. I recommend their ever-changing chef specials, and their dinner for two!
Absolutely fantastic food! Excellent service, relaxing atmosphere and very reasonable pricing. Will be making this a regular dinner spot.
Friendly, quiet and the food was fresh and perfectly prepared. We will be back!
Lauren Hafley is an idiot! Don't listen to her, try it for yourself!
Generous portions. Fair pricing. Flavour is a bit off.
Good local yummy.
Decent little local resteraunt
5-star restaurant! Beautiful presentation, delicious flavours and perfect textures. Very clean restaurant with friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Our 2nd visit and, now, my new favorite eatery. I highly recommend the honey-garlic pork, crisp on the outside and juicy tender on the inside. Our dessert was deep fried banana with warm caramel coated ice cream and basil leaf is a magical blend of flavours. We will be back again! We love all the artwork too.
The Rare Beef Noodles Soup is delicious! The beef seems fresh and the soup isn't salty.
Had such a wonderful dinner of crispy and tangy ginger beef and the Shanghai noodles with peanut sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and spice. They were wonderful and welcoming to our 2 year old and even offered her ice cream which she devoured! I can't wait to go back!
Got take out and overall the food and portions were good. Unfortunately the wor wonton is terrible. Broth was way to salty to eat at all, had to add lots of water to it. Also the wonton filling is wrong somehow, I think they use too much watery veg in them and they were a really unpleasant mushy texture.
This place is excellent. The delicious food is served in large portions and decently priced. The service is also quick and friendly. Highly recommended.
I dined here a few years ago and couldn't remember why I didn't go back, so I tried it again recently. I really wanted to like this place, but I don't think I can recommend it. My spouse and I found it disappointing overall. Positives: -The owner/family seem friendly. There is artwork by the owner's son up all over the walls. Cute home-y vibe. -Huge family-style portions* Negatives: -*The "huge portions" are ~75% vegetables... -Big chunks of celery in everything -The "lemongrass chicken" is actually just chicken stirfry. They didn't even grill it. This is not the standard lemongrass chicken you'll receive at any other Vietnamese restaurant... -This is a big one: take photos of the actual food for your website! The coconut prawns we got were nothing like the ones in the menu image. Yes, it says "photo for reference only", but this is absurd. In the menu image, the coconut prawns are crispy and covered in some sort of panko or batter. The ones we got were not battered at all--actually quite soggy. tl;dr --> nice folks, but the food just doesn't hold up
The service is awsome really nice people and the food ill always come back for!
The price is very low but good place to grab a light lunch such as a sandwich.
The food is awsome always staff is very nice and helpful
Go there all the time. Amazing food. Family run. Gluten free spring rolls are the best thing going!!
Great discovery! Wonderful food ????
The best in Victoria
Excellent food and service
Nice art work on all the walls
Amazing hot and fresh. Best wonton soup and spring rolls.
Incredible Vietnamese with lots of chef's special. Great food and service.
Great food. large portions, fair price and a real authentic feel to the place . Friendly owners and a parking lot out back. Would definitely recommend.
Great family run restaurant with top quality food and reasonable prices! My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the city!
Food is excellent. Clean. Friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. One of the only restaurants I go to during Covid.
The spring rolls were super crispy and tasty amd I would definitely get them again. Unfortunately the lemon grass prawn soup was disappointing as it tasted watered down and therefore not much flavour and there was a lack of vegetables just mainly a few prawns, beam sprouts and noodles
So good. This is a regular lunch spot for me, and it makes for a hearty, delicious, and filling meal, and it's reasonably priced too.
(Translated) Big plate of chicken is good (Original) 大盘鸡不错
This is some of the best food you will ever have! The honey garlic pork and house fried rice and wonton soup are what keep us coming back every time.
(Translated) The Chinese restaurant has Xinjiang large plate chicken, enough for 2 people. The mutton soup is delicious. The cut noodles are rather rotten and the overall taste is not bad. Thanks to the boss for the red bean pot helmet, it is delicious! There is a parking space behind the restaurant. Parking lots is behind the restaurant. We didn’t find it and parked at the liquor store and moved to the restaurant’s parking late... (Original) 中文餐厅有新疆大盘鸡,够2人吃。羊肉汤好喝。 刀削面偏烂,总体味道还行。 谢谢老板送的红豆锅盔,好吃! 餐厅后面有停车位。 Parking lots is behind the restaurant. Food was ok, dinner service was Spartan, mostly self serve. Water didn’t get refilled.
My Number 1 spot to eat on the entire south island. Amazing owners and amazing food! #23 is always my go to with a vietnamese coffee
Awesome food
Great food
Best pho in town at reasonable prices! Love it!
Amazing food and super kind staff. Decorated with beautiful art. Highly recommended especially on a dreary day, the noodle soups warm you right up.
I was afraid at first but I must admit, This is the best Vietnamese food in Victoria.
The portions are huge! Which is nice cause u get 2 decent size meals outa the meal. The food is pretty tasty as well. The online menus prices are all wrong though.
The service here is always delightful. Everything I've tried here has been nothing short of amazing. And I love to support a family run business!
Great Vietnamese restaurant. Very welcoming, and the food was authentic and delicious.
Authentic good food..ask for the paper menu for the very best dishes
This is one of the best places to eat in victoria, definitely a place to come and eat at. It has an amazing eating area with hand drawn paintings made by their family all over which are amazing to look at.
Always good, hot, food with fast service too!
Love the food prices are unbeatable and the service is great. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
