Not happy. Went wife my wife today to unwind after a grueling interview. Nice smile to greet us. Ordered my poached eggs medium. 1 came hard boiled. The other runny to the point of inedible My wife's eggs were the same. Ordered the Benny soft poached. Onehard boiled. The other medium to hard. I would of asked for a redo...but sadly...no quality check Sucks to pay and leave a tip before you eat Grilled tomatoes..terrible. As a suggestion..if your going to serve grilled tomatoes..slice that puppy in half and grill it like a bloody Englishman. Not these burger slices carved up for the lunch crowd As a long time resident in esquimalt, I try very hard to support all our local venues I think we will shy away from this in the future

My fiance and I have been here several enjoyed. We decided to stop there today before we headed to Sandcut Beach. Our food took almost an hour which would have been ok but both our soups were cold. They were sent back and we waited almost 15 more minutes for reheted soup. We decided to leave as we wanted to start our journey. I went in and asked for my money back for the soup so we could be on our way. I was told at that point it was ready i explained we were wanting to go and was asked if we wanted it to go which i said was not an option as we would be out all day. She reluctantly returned my $5.25 ad said thank you. I said thank you as i turned around which i know she didn't hear because as I walked away she sarcasticly replied your welcome very rudely. I was a little irritated right until that point she could have said nothing but chose to let her frustrations out on a paying customer also because of your pay structure and our previous experiences there I tipped her 15% which I wish I would have asked for back I am disappointed and frustrated we originally came after seeing it on Chek and met the owner the 1st time we were there. I wouldn't recommend it after today.

We have had brunch all over greater Victoria area. Our friends and us are on a mission to try every breakfast / lunch place at least once. We have been at it for about 3 years (once per month). The food and menu selection from this tiny restaurant ranks up there with some of the best and more expensive places. It has seating for about 20 inside and a dozen outside. You order at the counter.

We enjoyed 2 breakfasts here over the weekend - had the Salmon Eggs Benny & Huevos Racheros the first time and the Breakfast Sandwich & Waffle Works today. Everything was delicious, very generous helpings, the fruit side is huge and very cozy. Fast and friendly service too and the coffee is great.

First time I've been to this cafe. I had the chicken sandwich with salad. I enjoyed it and it was filling for the price. My friends have been here before and got eggs benny. I would definitely say this place does a great job of breakfast items.

Great little place. Food is very good. Interior is small with only 3 tables inside and chairs along the glass window. A couple of tables are outside in the patio area. Menu is above the till. You order at the till and pay and they bring it to the table. There is an all day breakfast menu with waffles, eggs benny, traditional as well as breakfast sandwich. There is a choice of sides with most of the breakfast menu. There is a lunch menu but we didn't choose from it. Service is friendly and quick. Food is hot and tasty. Bennies are cooked to order, soft medium or hard. Sauce is good. Buenos eggs are nicely cooked. Choice of tortilla and opt-in for hot sauce. There's enough to satisfy the appetite. A definite go to again. Prices are reasons of as well.

It’s not small. It’s intimate, and I like it. The benny’s are among the best in Victoria. I agree with others that the waffles are fantastic. I recommend giving the Huevos Rancheros a try also. Soooooo good!!! Can’t go wrong with the coffee here either. The staff are cool peeps too! Keep up the great work!

Went there today for the first time after following them on Instagram: I was happy I went. Menu has many options and also carbless options. Food was fresh and filling. Not fancy but awesome comfort food made with love. Soup was delicious too! Service was good. Place was kinda cold because door was left open I assume to let out the steam from cooking but overall I enjoyed it and want to return.

The space this cafe is based in is extremely small. They don't have a "proper" kitchen to cook in It is very busy for a Sunday brunch so anticipate waiting. Having said that,the food was AMAZING and very worth the wait!!!

I'm really not one to write negative reviews. The atmosphere of the place is nice and the people behind the counter are lovely. However charming the first impression is, my partner and I were both served potatoes that I could see were under boiled from 15 feet away. Not a case of how I like my potatoes, I'm not a picky eater however I like them cooked. Everything else was extremely meh. Unfortunately it's obvious the person cooking the food didn't try it to see if it was good / cooked. Also making us pay at the front and seat ourselves for a $42 (meh at best) breakfast is really not great. Would definitely go to Floyd's for the money

It was good but it definitely wasn’t great. The flavours are there but it’s a small kitchen n I get not being able to keep everything hot is probably a challenge. The hollandaise sauce was room temp, n hash browns weren’t brown or warm, they were just lightly fried on certain sides. I’ll definitely give this place another try though on a less busier day.

We were downtown, looking to support non invasive businesses. None.... so I looked on bc businesses against health pass, and found sunnyside.... The staff and the food were equally amazing, great menu selection, attentive server, total team effort in making sure all the guests were happy.... I had the house Benny..... Omg..... Go try their unique twist on such a classic dish...... Never would I ever thought to use that on a Benny..... What did they use, go and find out for yourself, cuz it's delish, and I will drive out there and eat then go down to the waterfront (nearby) for a little after brunch stroll again.

The women here fired a friendly, hardworking FATHER who was supporting his family, after using him for the summer... with reasons so flaky it makes me consider calling the labor board, something about human rights, perhaps. Now as a mother of two small children (on maternity leave) I get to worry about going back to work early, to make ends meet. Thanks ladies, really considerate! I used to bring my own family or visiting relatives to eat and help support that little business, one of the workers with tats and blonde hair, has a really negative attitude. Like seriously lady we`re paying costumers, I don`t have to pay 10$ for breakfast with an attitude, we can go literally ANYWHERE. Also, here`s a tip, USE PROPER COOLERS! the police are on to you, must have been a health inspector complaint. I for one can appreciate you giving him the opportunity to do something better.

BEST BREAKFAST IN VICTORIA! I cannot say enough great things about this place. As an Eggs Benedict lover, I have high standards. I have tried hundreds of Eggs Benny's (over the years), and the Sunnyside is (without question) one of the best places to go for just that. The 'House Benny' is my personal favourite (crumbled spicy chorizo sausage, avocado and cheddar). Their cheesy hollandaise hash is also a fantastic side, for those feeling extra famished. Their hollandaise sauce is also something from heaven. The staff are friendly and attentive, the patio gets great sun (and shade), and the food is to die for!

Went for breakfast, it us a small place so expect to wait for a seat. The hashbrowns and eggs were good. The hollandaise sauce had a very strong flavor and they used so much on the eggs Benedict that you really couldn't taste much else. My girlfriend got the breakfast hash and again it had do much hollandaise that the rest of the flavors were lost.

I went here to Sunnyside Cafe for my third visit to this restaurant in the last several months. Once again, it was a great breakfast (huevos rancheros). The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and got my coffee & breakfast ready very quickly. The price was reasonable, and my coffee refill was given without any prompting on my part. I was the first customer in at 8am, but by the time I left at 9am the cafe was mostly full - it is popular!

Came on a Sunday morning and managed to get an outdoor table without waiting. You have to go in to order and they bring the food to you. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is fresh and delicious (breakfast sandwich and cheesy hollandaise hash) for average pricing.

Brought my stroller in not knowing how small it was but nobody minded, only got coffee but they kept topping it up for free, the real change table was a really nice touch. It's a bit pricy, but the breakfast meals are top notch here. The eggs and sauce were deliciously soft and rich, and the potatoes were well cooked. The small seating area makes it harder to arrange for large groups, however.

The food and service are ridiculously amazing. We order from the office across the street, head over in 10 mins, pay and pick up our lunch and head back to work. Maybe the best place to get Eggs Benedict in Victoria. They've got a unique Hollandaise sauce that's more like a Bernaise, and really adds to the flavor of a traditional Bennie. All Bennie lovers must give Sunnyside a try, I've never had a Bennie like it anywhere else.

Worst breakfast ever! I asked for soft poached eggs but they were hard poached instead, the sauce they are calling hollandaise is more like mayonnaise, the grilled tomatoes were half green slices that you'd put on a sandwich but were still raw, as were the potatoes for the hashbrowns. Everything was served very quickly which was obviously because they didn't bother to heat it up as it was all cold, food must have been precooked. Bacon was raw, greasy pieces of pure fat. There was no quality check and when they saw we weren't enjoying our food they said nothing and ignored us - they really didn't seem to care because you had to pay for your meal up front before you got the horrible food. As we left we told them it was not good and they threw their hands in the air looking shocked but still didn't bother saying anything. It wasn't even a busy morning, there were maybe 6 people in the whole place. I would not recommend going there for either the food or the service, I honestly can't believe this is how they run a restaurant! I've eaten there before and it was equally bad but thought I'd give them a second chance - apparently this is how they operate as it was the same last time as well. 1 star only because it won't let me give them zero.

Forst time here. I had the Cairn Park benny. It had bacon, grilled tomato and brie. The hollandaise sause was made from scratch, eggs were cooked exactly perfect (soft). The best benny ever. The service was most excellent and fast. This is a definate come back place.

This place is very small. Takes some time for the food. My toast came out burnt my hash browns were still hard and not fully cooked. The regulars push you out of the way to get to tables even tho you and your family are going to sit down at that table. The servers tell you I’ll get to you when I can and leave you hanging for drinks or coffee. The quality of food is ok I guess I’m not sure why people brag about this place I have been to way better places and half the price. And way better service. It’s a cool idea of a place so hands down to the owner. But it’s just not family friendly. Would I come back again? Honestly no I would not. You may have your opinion like I have mine. I was so excited to check this place out after reading so many good reviews, unfortunately the first experience was not the best. After walking in we weren’t even acknowledged with a hello for at least 2 minutes (and it was not busy when we arrived), even though plenty of eye contact was made. Fast forward to our meals, and I was brought the wrong item. It was replaced, but there wasn’t any sort of apology for the mistake. The food was standard, but I expected better service... especially when you pay/tip before getting your food.
