This is the best Indian restaurant in Victoria. The food was excellent and the quality was awesome. We had Butter chicken, garlic naan, kabab, chicken tikka, chicken curry and it was so amazing. Perfect amount of spices with fully flavour and mouth watering appearance. Staff was very friendly and services was great. Highly recommended, Spice Valley Indian restaurant one of the best restaurants in Victoria. just a few minutes drive West of the central core of Victoria. There is plenty of parking space. I had an amazing meal at Spice Valley. The Onion Bahji was very tasty and the Malai Kofta had a beautiful flavourful sauce which was among the best I have tried. My Spice preference is medium and the dish was spot on in its spice level. The Naan was wonderful and piping hot when it arrived.Indian food is my favourite and I am so glad to have found Spice Valley. The servers were all very polite and attentive. I hope to return on a regular basis to this wonderful new addition to the Esquimalt restaurant scene.

The food was exquisite, the naan breads texture was like baked out of a homemade firewood oven. The curry I had was flavourful and had a nice little kick at the end of each spoonful. The three kind pakora was refreshing with the dip. Very satisfied and will come back many more times. Compliments to the master chef.

Incredible Indian food that i have ever had. went to Spicevalley a few days ago and loved the food, the people there were friendly. so, i ordered takeout and it was again so good that i had to write this review for them. Me and my wife had palak panner, goat curry, eggplant and chicken curry with side of rice and naan. Went for lunch with a group of colleagues from work. Buffet offerings were fresh, hot, and very delicious. I am lactose intolerant and the staff helped me choose the dishes that were safe for me. My father asked me many times to give reviews but i was so much busy in my work that i didn't get a chance to do so..My father passed away in march so I am doing all the things as this was the last thing,he asked me to do..

Edit: The restaurant contacted me to check out and apologise about our experience. They were very kind and understanding. We did order the same meals for second time and the food was just delicious (I thought that the first time but just couldn't really taste it becaue it was too hot). The restaurant had made a note of our previous experience and gave us the second meals for free which I we really appreciate. Really this is the best customer care experience I've had in Victoria! Plus food is great ???? Ordeeed take out based on the good reviews. My husband had the lamb biryani and I had the navaratan korma. We ordered both dishes medium spicy but they were SO hot we couldn't eat them, nor we could taste the food flavour. It was that spicy! And we both like spicy food, my husband can actually eat very spicy but was only able to take few bites of his biryani. Even yogurt did not make the food a bit milder. I can't even imagine how spicy are their hot meals. Also we had garlic naan but could not taste any garlic in it and the bread wasn't as good.

Very good dinner experience! Started with fish pakoras, then had lamb biryani, bhindi do pyaza, and chicken vindaloo. All dishes we ordered as "medium hot", I would say that to me it was more medium, but a nice level of spice nonetheless. Would recommend having some music playing, otherwise the decorations were well appointed and the atmosphere was great. I look forward to many future meals here!

Nice little restaurant which felt clean and airy. The people were very nice and food came pretty quick. We ordered butter chicken and beef vindaloo. They both tasted great, could be best so far for us, but the beef was a bit tough hence the 4 stars. Wouldn't be hard to fix by getting a better cut off beef or cooking a bit longer.... The important thing was it tasted really good. Definitely recommend and we will be going back to try the buffet and another dinner date. *Update: We come here regularly now and I order the lamb vindaloo instead of beef and it's perfect!

I ate the buffet and had a mango lassi. Each dish was meticulously prepared, incredibly fresh, well spiced, and well portioned (eg: the size of the cubed chicken). The buffet itself was very clean and fresh. The service was quick (restocking naan, tea, water, etc), the place was very clean, the music was fantastic (volume and variety), and the employees all seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. The price is very fair and I will be going back there as soon as I can!

After hearing so many positive reviews from friends we finally decided to give Spice Valley a shot. We only ordered a couple of dishes but now we know we will be back to try more. Our Curry and Biryani were both excellent and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and eager to suggest dishes for our next visit. On a cold wintery night you can really tell how popular they are with order after order being picked up for takeout and delivery.

New favorite place :D We came for buffet lunch, and left satisfied. Cute little place, very clean with friendly staff. The food selection was great, spice was nice (spicer than most buffets I've been), taste was AMAZING!!! Only negative would be the temperature of the food, as it was barely warm when we sat to eat.... but the taste made up for it!!!! Simply amazing. We'll be back....soon!

Spice Valley is a beautiful restaurant. Their food is awesome. They have at least 4 different types of pakoras with all the delicious sauces. I have only ever had chai tea from one of the main stream coffee shops, it was quite the treat to taste authentic chai tea. I will certainly be going back again to support this family run business.

Cannot understand why this place has such high reviews. The service was extremely slow - we waited for our food atleast 40 minutes after we ordered. The naan was okay. The chicken curry was terrible - just an insult to Indian cuisine. We had ordered medium spicy, and what we got was so spicy it was hard to eat it (I say this as someone who regularly eats spicy food.) All it had was red chili powder. No actual taste, no proper masalas, tasted uncooked. Avoid this place if you can.

Such yummy Authentic Indian food. Fell in love with their rahi papdi. That is a must try here. And this coming from someone who doesn’t like yogurt. It was such a relief to eat an authentic palak paneer. The saag paneer are usually creamy and one cannot get the authentic taste of the dish. The palak paneer here was good that me and my husband wiped the dish clean. The parantha are also really good.

This property has been a revolving door of varying failed restaurants for several years (except La Tortilla Mexicana, they did very well and moved to a larger location in Quadra) - almost like there was a curse or something. I have a feeling that the curse has been lifted! Finally checked them out for the first time yesterday (lunch buffet) and was very impressed. Amazing flavours coming out of that kitchen, and excellent price for what you get! I agree that the warming station could be a little hotter, and the quality of meatballs left something to be desired for me (frozen/bagged, I suspect... seemed to have that engineered/compressed meat texture thing going on)... but still a solid 5 stars from me.

I had 4 visits while I was in Victoria and the food served is amazingly delicious. Butter chicken, Kadai Paneer is mind blowing. My favourite sweet dish rice pudding was awesome. The staff is friendly and environment is pleasing.

I must say that today I had one of the best biryanis since I moved to Victoria. The food was amazing and the service was fast and efficient. The chefs and the servers were so welcoming. Now this is my new favourite place to eat in Victoria. PEOPLE IT IS WORTH IT

We went with 6 of us and all tried different dishes to get a taste for a few different things at once. The meals were large, extremely tasty (and spicy! Most of us ordered medium on the spice wheel and it was pretty spicy, but flavourful!) the rice fluffy, and the service really lovely. They use compostable to-go containers so that’s a big win in my eyes too. Will go back many times to try other options on the menu - there is a lot to choose from!

I've been here a handful of times and each time was pleasant. Service has been great with the exception of one time where left disappointed by the service as I felt the server was a tad rude and felt invisible for a good portion of my meal. Every other time has been fantastic though. Even with the same server lol. I've ordered a la carte and had their buffet and the food is absolutely phenomenal. Genuinely no complaints. There was never a time where I felt disappointed in the food. Portion sizes are decent too. Their buffet is great too. It allows me to try a variety of their food and there is not one item on the menu that I didn't enjoy. I would highly recommend this place. It's got great food, great service (90% of the times) and decent portion sizes. Oh and as a bonus all their meat is halal too

Super fresh and delicious Indian food at a great price, super nice staff, quaint and cozy vibe - hard to beat. My family and I shared lamb rogan josh, malai kofta, tandoori chicken, salad, rice and nann and it was all awesome. Medium spice was just the right amount of heat for what we were feeling! Now I've gotta go back for the lunch buffet to try the rest... ;) The "build your own curry" option also sounds cool!

My favorite is the Chicken Biryani rice dish, and the Aloo Gobi. The beef vindaloo is also excellent - I could go on. A place you can't afford to miss out on!

Spice Valley makes decent food and I am glad they’re in business in Greater Victoria. To my disappointment, however, the food is sweeter than I prefer. The owner has stated that no sugar is added but that some added butter may be the reason the food tastes sweet (see below, in response to my earlier review). I am likewise not a big fan of sweet butter. If you like your Indian food on the sweet side, however, then Spice Valley is definitely the place for you. This also raises an important point: why do services such as DoorDash and Skip not include a section for item ingredients? This would be an enormous help to all and would prevent a lot of confusion.

Yummy!! The lunch buffet was excellent. Good variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. Some spicy - not too spicy, some not. Very fresh. The place was packet for lunch with one table left when we arrived. Ordered the Massala Chai Tea which was also delicious even though it took little long to make but took it to go so it worked out great after all. Definitely recommend and will be back for sure.

BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN VICTORIA. I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful little restaurant today and thank God we had a reservation ???? (lucky us). I was surprised by the fact how packed this small restaurant was, hats off to the chefs and the staff. Be mindful you will have to wait a little but trust me in the end you will just be amazed by the food. The Goat curry was so tender and flavourful that it was falling off the bones and the Malai Tikka was just AMAZING. The rest room was very neat and well kept unlike most Indian restaurants. The servers vere very polite and welcoming. The restaurant in general was very welcoming. Ohh and don't forget to have their rice pudding, it's just the best.

The portions were very generous and very tasty. Love the fresh Naan and tandoori roti. Highly recommend for the people traveling to Victoria....!! Love the place.

Just opened in December and already getting a wonderful local following. For good reason: the food is fantastic, fresh and amazingly flavorful with spice levels to please everyone. The lunch buffet is only $13.99 including veggie and meat dishe, rice, naan, as well as salad bar and fruit. That in itself is must try!!!

Best Indian food we've had on the island! It's one of our go-to places when we want take out. Would highly recommend! We've never had a dish from here we didn't like and we've tried a lot of them. Also, the butter chicken is *insane* - I've never had such tender chicken in a butter chicken dish before. The chicken honestly feels like it's made of butter. The staff is also super friendly! Really a great place all around. The portions are also very good for the price.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the country. I recently moved to Victoria, lived in several cities coast to coast... I love Indian food and I've been to many... Tried several within this city, I've been there about a dozen times within less than 2 months since I first discovered this place, and I crave it often. Family owned and operated with excellent service. Quality ingredients, good portion sizes, reasonable prices for great quality, full of flavour yet well balanced (not recommended if bland is what you like). As far as heat they will ask your preference and accommodate the level of spice, mild, medium and hot. Great if you like a whole lot of flavour in an Indian traditional hearty meal. I like traditional spicy (aka Indian spicy... Very), my new favourite and the new usual order is (the owners will laugh and recognise me when they read this) "lamb vindaloo, traditional, and make it hurt!" Keep up the good work!

Fantastic local Indian restaurant. Food was of very high quality, prices are more than fair for what you get, and service was excellent. We had some butter chicken which was very creamy, delicious masala, and a new test dish of Indian/Asian fusion for chili chicken which was a really cool blend of flavours. We recently visited Victoria with family from Seattle and were craving home cooked food. Based on reviews we decided to check out Spice Valley and I would say it certainly lived up to it's reputation. Buffet was amazing with good assortment of fresh vegetable preparations as well as good selection of non vegetarian items. It was a divine experience!!! Chef Prahlad is very creative chef and comes with extensive experience of working at 5 star hotels in India. It felt like we were eating fresh home cooked food....and it was delish. Staff was warm and welcoming especially Rishabh. Thank you again for feeding our clan:-) and hope you up the quality work you are doing and can open up a branch in Seattle.

Had a good friend visit from out of town who loves Indian veggie food so we ordered from here. Food was ready for pick up so quickly and definitely freshly made and hot. All dishes were perfect and lots left over for next night. Only negative was probably my fault as I thought I ordered i rice and 1 naan bread but it came with 2 rice. But in the end we did not care as we the flavours of the dishes were so delicious we were happy. Definitely going to order from there again!

I ate the lunch buffet. Quite tasty food. Not to spicy would say it's mild-medium depending how sensitive to spice you are. I was disappointed in the temperature of the food once I dished it into my plate and sat down it was only just barely warm. I prefer my food hotter in temperature then that. When I was nearly finished eating, I found a 2 inch long black hair in my food. I told the waitress and she just said sorry about it. Didn't offer a discount or anything. I've had this happen one other time in my life at another restaurant and they offered to give me my meal for free. It's would have been nice if they offered at least a discount. Lastly, I would recommend the heat be turned up on the food case warmer thing so the food is at least warm when I sit down to eat it.

I love the staff, the menu options, the simplicity of the visits we have and the warm feel of the space. I'm surprised how quickly I'm in and out sometimes. The buffet is warm, fresh and tasty. New fresh dishes are brought out regularly. The naan comes fresh to your table piping hot. I live that kids under five are free. Sometimes mine only eat rice and other times they dig in and try new things. I'm always happy. We keep going back as $14 lunch buffet is hard to beat, especially with nice staff and great tasting food!

Truly the best Indian in the city. But also just some of the best food in the city. Accommodating and friendly service by the most competent high school student I think I have ever witnessed in action (would not have known he was so young if he hadn’t mentioned it). Oh and if you have any allergies (I have celiac disease) ask. Although they had a few things flagged GF on the menu, when I asked about dishes I know to be typically GF the server was great at walking me through the menu. I could basically eat almost everything. And finally - chicken fingers and fries for hesitant little kids??? Genius. GO!!! And maybe make a reservation - it was hopping!

Honestly just the best. I'm lucky enough to be a neighbour to Spice Valley so it's one of my go- to food places. The Kadhi Pakora is what I imagine Indian comfort food is. It's SO GOOD. The naan! It's always soft and buttery. You haven't lived until you've had afghani naan dipped in a good curry. All the food here is wonderful and you won't be disappointed. Do yourself a favour and eat here :)

We knew Spice Valley would be a success after our first visit.( first week they were open). Since we have eaten there around six times. The most recent was last Saturday. In our opinion we have not eaten at a better Northern Style Indian restaurant anywhere else in the world.(quality of food and value for money,good sized portions with generous amounts of protein in their meat dishes We have dined in many different Indian restaurants all through South East Asia for over 20 years.)Spice Valley is a true gem and we are very fortunate to such a high quality restaurant like this here in Esquimalt. Make sure you make reservations as last time there was a line up for tables as we left.

Tried this restaurant while vacationing in Victoria. Being from Vancouver our Indian food expectations are high. I’m happy to say that Spice Valley lived up to them. The food was so delicious that we ate there 2 days of our 5 day trip! We tried the.. 1. malai chicken tikka... huge portion, tender and tasty 2. Fish tikka....soooo good! Delicate and moist with perfect seasoning and the green chutney was wonderful 3. Chicken butter masala...creamy with lots of chicken. Perfect balance of flavour and not too sweet or tangy 4. Dal Makhani... one of the best we’ve had. Creamy with a little hint of Smokey flavour. Authentic ! 5. Bhartha...my least favourite just cuz I found the mace flavour a little over powering. 6. Goat biryani... tender pieces of goat with yummy rice with a little gravy. Thankyou Spice Valley for some delicious dinners. We will definitely visit again when in Victoria.

Looking at the ratings, I ordered through door dash to see what the fuss was all about. The food by appearance seemed rather unassuming, but after taking the first bite...a burst of flavour! It is an orchestra of radiant Indian spices that is hard to find where I live. It's close to the impeccable quality served by some famous restaurants back in India. Needless to say, the portion size could be better, well...that's typical for most restaurants, so I am willing to overlook that part

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had in Victoria! My brother and I felt like Indian last week and decided to try take out from Spice Valley. We decide to try the Spice Valley mixed veg, Chicken Curry, Garlic Naan, Potato Naan and Rice Pudding. It was awesome! The chicken curry was tender with a great fresh flavour, and a good ratio of sauce to meat. The mixed veg was also cooked and flavoured wonderfully. Again, the freshness of the veg and the sauce really stood out as being unique. The Naan was excellent as well, but my only suggestion is to maybe skip the 2nd Naan and get another main instead, it's too easy to fill up on Naan when there is so many other dishes to try! Although we were full by the end of the meal we couldn't resist the temptation of the cold rice pudding we had purchased for desert. We had some hot tea and kept the rice pudding cold as it was super hot outside but the rice pudding great way of capping off an amazing meal. I have tried a number of other Indian cuisine restaurants in Victoria and while they tend to be good as well, I don't think they were at the same level with regards to the freshness. The staff at Spice Valley were super nice as a well and a really look forward to going again as soon as I am back in town. If you are looking for Indian cuisine tonight, given it a try! Highly recommended! :)

We live on the other side of Victoria but we drive over here especially for the delights they always serve up! Forgot to take the picture before we started it eating since its so delicious! Today we had bhindi do pyaza, prawn mango curry. We've been tempted to try the mango curry a couple of times but finally got to treat ourselves with it today. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The staff are always really friendly. Every dish we've tried has been fresh, delicious and served with a smile. Couldn't recommend them more ????????????????????

I first found Spice Valley at their food truck in Colwood, summer 2019. Their food was tasty, service very friendly and price was excellent for the value. I then took friends to their restaurant in Esquimalt and was pleasantly surprised that their food and service were above par. The space is small but not cramped, and clean and tidy. The service is professional and friendly, always with a smile. They know their menu well and answer questions patiently. They don't rush you, but clear away empty dishes promptly and refill water glasses without having to be asked. They serve their dishes in attractive, authentic dishes and bowls. I've gone back 3 times, and have now, during Covid19 ordered take out. The online menu and ordering process is simple and efficient. The food was ready on time, even with limited staff. Unlike many restaurants, their take-out food comes in compostable and recyclable containers which is important to me. I think we've ordered about 2/3s of the items on their menu and it is all delicious. It is unusual to find a restaurant that exceeds expectations consistently over a full year whether in house, from a food truck , or take-out menu. Highly recommended!

The owners are super sweet and treat you like you are family. This establishment is what everyone should experience at least once! The food is so good I’ve been here in Victoria for 2 weeks and have been to Spice Valley 5 times! No restaurant has ever been able to entice me like this. We had a great experience. We ate in the restaurant on a Friday night. The food was delicious and the service was quick, although it took a while to get our bill because the staff were so busy with takeout orders. I could live off their pakoras. The lunch buffet is excellent for the price. The take out is just as delicious as eating in the restaurant. Delicious, fast and great service! Spice Valley is truly an asset to Esquimalt

Spice Valley provided Butter chicken, rice, naan and pakoras for a work party of 15 and everything was absolutely delicious! The food was ready on time and was still hot when placed on the table. The portions were generous with leftovers to enjoy the next day. The butter chicken was creamy with just the right amount of spice and the naan was so soft! I was met with very friendly service on the phone when ordering. I look forward to enjoying Spice Valley food again in the near future and trying new dishes.

The food was by far the best Indian food I've had in quite some time. The medium spice level is perfect if you want some warmth to your food without it being too much. The staff was very friendly! Will definitely be eating here again.

Amazing food. I've been here a few times since they opened their doors and I have to say, this is hands down, the best Indian food I've /ever/ had. जैसे माँ खाना बनाती है. The consistency in how stellar they do everything is what truly makes this a gem. The owners treat everyone like family. The cooks come out to see if we enjoyed our meal. The food is 10/10. Service is always exactly what it should be, attentive but not overbearing. I enjoy myself every time I come here. I always recommend my clients come here as well as any extended family or friends who visit. If you're taking someone out on a first date, take them here. Esquimalt and Victoria Island are fortunate to have a restaurant of this stature located in our backyard. I love you Spice Valley, never ever leave. ♥️????♥️????♥️????♥️????♥️????♥️????♥️????

I’ve tried mostly all of the Indian restaurants in Victoria. Without a doubt Spice Valley is easily the best. Delicious chicken that’s never dry , The sauces are always rich and full of flavour and the naan is always tasty. My only minor complaint is that I wish they gave you a little bit more rice with your meal , but that’s me nitpicking. All in all I can’t think of a better Indian restaurant. Easy five stars.

Spice Valley is cozy Indian restaurant where you find authentic, rich and good Indian cuisine in a very affordable prices. The Chief Prahlad and wife provide wholesome food with attention to service and quality. We enjoyed their daily buffet with a spread that will satisfy any palate. We had called ahead for special orders and have never been disappointed with the service nor quality of the dishes. I will recommend this eating establishment to both near and far. It has become our weekend lunch place.

Humble location. Huge flavours. Google rating rings true A friend recommended Spice Valley a week ago and I finally had a reason to celebrate with a night out with family last night and took their recommendation to try this place. DID NOT DISAPPOINT The setting isn't fine dining, in fact I think this restaurant has turned over several times in the last decade but I hope the Spice Valley is there to stay. Service was friendly and warm and accommodating. We were 5 @ 8pm at a restaurant that closed at 930 but that was fine with the staff. They pushed a couple tables together and cleaned up quickly for us. The menu is typical of most Indian restaurants by had fewer items which I actually appreciate. I saw my favorites and convinced my party they'd enjoy the dishes I picked Fish Tikka, butter chicken, aloo gobi, bindi masala and goat curry. All medium spicy. It took a good time to arrive so that indicated they prepared it all fresh. When it arrived, and almost at the same time, another good sign, the food was hot, aromatic and plentiful. And. Damn. So good. 4.8 rating on Google is accurate. So delish. We'll be back again very soon to try other dishes. We were full but one person agreed to try the rice pudding (homemade) We all took a spoonful and it was so good, we added two more orders to the leftovers we had to take with us. Yes, fed five with two servings left for leftovers today! On of the party was my mother in law and I'll tell you, she's Indian and she cooks well enough to lead a kitchen in her own right. The look on her face (of contemptuous satisfaction) was enough to let me know she enjoyed every bite. That was more high praise than I could ever give the kitchen staff. Please If you live in or near the Esquimalt area, give them a try; they won't disappoint. I saw Skip the Dishes in and out frequently last night. If you're an introvert it just not a fan of dining out, order in and enjoy. 4.5 stars I'd give it 5 but I really wanted more choices of local beer. Fat Tug is delicious but serving the bland commercial beers is... Bleah. Otherwise. AWESOME

I was overwhelmed by the food they offer at this restaurant! They serve the best butter chicken in the town, the flavor can’t be matched. Also, if butter chicken is not your go to dish then you can go for prawn curry which is also one of the dishes that took my taste buds over. Hygiene is one of the areas where they have aced, place is super clean and the food is really fresh! I would recommend this place to anyone who is craving Indian food in the town.

Great food, almost as good as my mum's cooking. Highly recommend this place for authentic Indian cuisine. I usually order take-out from this restaurant, and the servings are generous. To add to this, the staff are pleasant people too. I was short on change and the chef was kind enough to include the naan I couldn't pay for in my order. Will return surely!

I went to Spice Valley early Friday evening. The first thing I noticed was the delicious smell of spices. The smells were subtle with each spice recognizable in the scented air. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was so tender and delicious. I was sad to be sharing it as I could have easily devoured the entire plate. My daughter had a vindaloo vegetarian curry, medium spicy. There was a delicious sweetness from the vegetables along with the delicious taste from the spices. The spices were used to enhance the taste which it did perfectly. Our second dish was a spicy chicken curry. Also delicious. I have often had spicy curries in the past that were just tests of how much heat one could handle. This was not the case here. The curry was spicy but in a flavorful way so that you could enjoy each bit even that there was an underlying heat. Next was a tandoori mixed plate; chicken, fish, shrimp, and lamb. Everything was so tender and juicy and once again full of flavor. I will definitely have it again. We also had the garlic nan and potato nan bread. Both served hot and delicious. We washed it all down with chai tea, I had two cups. A fantastic meal and in my opinion the best Indian food in Victoria. Thank you.

Since it’s Ramadan and I’m fasting, I was craving some delicious fried Indian food to break my fast. Me forgetting that Spice Valley doesn’t deliver, I asked if I could place an order for delivery. After she already took my payment over the phone she told me they don’t usually deliver but in this case they would make an exception since it wasn’t busy. This girl!! She came right to my door to deliver my food and she was so sweet to go out of her way to do so!! What amazing service! And it was so delicious too (I ordered all veg dishes). Perfect spice level as I requested. I wish I tipped more but this review will have to do!! They have my exclusive business when it comes to Indian food!! DISCLAIMER: I live super close to the restaurant and it wasn’t busy so don’t expect them to do this for you also!! The point I’m making is, they really went out of their way for me last night and deserve to be recognized for their truly exceptional service. I want to say a huge thank you and may God bless you!!!
