REVIEWS OF Smokey Bear YEG IN Edmonton

Emily Doro

Had such a lovely time visiting Smokey Bear! The new layout is super cozy, comfortable and big big fan of the open concept kitchen! We sampled several dishes, all BEAUTIFULLY plated and well thought out! If you go - would highly recommend the tomato dish, the pineapple and to SAVE ROOM FOR THE PUMPKIN DESSERT! it was something I think the whole table will never forget! Also a big thank you to Ashley for the wonderful service. Its a great spot to try something a bit more progressive food wise and high end enough to be suitable for special occasions!

Tatiana Kastner

Excellent service, good selection of drinks, was not impressed by food - don't think it worth the money you pay.

Jill

This was the most pleasant experience I've had in a long time. I can't believe how good the food was. How great the service was. The ambiance of this place is fantastic!!! And Jill...our server was fantastic. Best attention to our table ... We will definitely be back....

Matt Meier

Great chef's plate, friendly staff. Came by with a group over the weekend to try somewhere new and will definitely be back in the future!

Cherie L Klassen

What an amazing experience and the food is phenomenal! Tried a number of dishes that were so incredibly creative and I loved every single one! I’d also recommend the wine and cocktails as they have a great selection. The smoked old fashioned was lovely!

Gerene D.

This restaurant is a great addition to the edmonton community. The staff is very kind and are dedicated to serving only the best. They made sure that were treated with the upmost respect. Shame on those who has tried slandering this newly opened restaurant..seems like some don’t like footing the bills and would be curious about how many other places have suffered the same attempt of defamation by some of these trolls. Especially those who have opinions even tho they claim they’ve never even been to the restaurant?

Grant Doyle

Excellent in all ways ! A must stop

Pamela Woolger

I had one of the best dinners I can remember in a very long time last week at Smokey Bear. If you are looking for local, sustainable, and truly thoughtful food then this is a huge must for you. I cannot wait to come back to try everything else we didn't try on our last visit. The salmon is the die for, and the beef cheeks left us wondering how the heck meat could ever be that tender and delicious! I would highly recommend

Jen Haukedal

Great service, locally sourced food, and drinks. Will be back for sure.

Food Food

one of the best restaurant in Edmonton where you will find amazing food with great service. Owner and chef both were so humble and professional as they came to our table and explained in details about each dish we tried. Everything was super delicious. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.

Justice Brown

Smokey bear mixes the perfect amount of originality with local ingredients to be exactly what Edmonton needs. This was my third visit in the last month and the menu had enough changes to be exciting and enough familiar to not be intimidating.

Great service and food was one of the best I've had in the city. The owner and chef was very accommodating for my dietary restrictions (Vegetarian) and the cocktails were very well made.

Nic Krywolt

Stopped by while they were operating as Bandits Fried Chicken. Unbelievable sandwiches and a great drink menu. Can't wait to come back.

Ashleigh Smith

Highly anticipated and worth the wait. Food was outstanding and service to match. For their second night I was very impressed and can’t wait too see where they go from here.

Shruti R

One of the Best restaurant in the city. Everything was superb from service to food. We tried their Flat Bread - Nduja - Soured Cream, Smoked eggplant with nuts and berries as well as their Charcoal chicken with cream sauce. Everything was delicious especially the chicken. It was probably the best chicken i have ever had. Also tried their dessert and it was superb as well. I highly recommend Smoky bear its a must go in Edmonton.

Sarra Jomha

Jillian MacDonald

One of the best food experiences we have had in Edmonton! The food was not only innovative but delicious. The wine list and the servers knowledge of the wine was incredible. Some of the best wines I have ever tasted! Cocktails were also amazing! The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and fun. The chef and his entire staff are truly passionate about their craft and wanting to give you the best experience possible. Can’t wait for many more evenings here and to share it with our family and friends! We had the best time and can’t recommend this place enough! You have to eat here!

Emily Armstrong

The pork chops were UNREAL! The team at Smokey bear have done a wonderful job of reinventing the space from the past restaurants that have been in this location. I really enjoyed everything on the menu, and the wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend the Adelina Nebbiolo wine! The wine menu is extremely unique as it is all natural wines and this one in particular was phenomenal.

Emil Yim

If you find this helpful, give it a thumbs up! Customer WiFi: Washrooms: yes Power outlets: no Pet friendly: no Parking: paid Street Food/Drinks: the food was very good. My top recommendations would have to be the salmon and pork chop for the balance in flavor in each of the dishes while still being unique and holding true to the flavor of the protein. Most impressive was the pork chop which was cook to a very nice medium over a open fire not an easy feat. I did not really care for the oysters at all out of all the dishes. The sauce paired with them completely overpowered the dish and you could not taste the oysters at all. Service: we sat at the "chefs table" and it wasn't too busy so each dish was described to us as it was presented. We never had empty dishes in front of us for long and they topped off our waters whenever they came by. Fantastic hospitality. Atmosphere: very cozy and dim lit. Open kitchen and you can see everything is cooked over an open wood fire. If you found this helpful, let me know by leaving a thumbs up!

David Rojek

Possibly my new favorite restaurant in Edmonton. Absolutely delicious. A must try for any foodie!

Tyler Goudreau

I was pleasantly surprised with the unique & delicious flavours. We ordered every last thing on the a la carte menu and had it all brought to us by the chef himself with a detailed description of everything. Incredibly friendly staff and a wonderful, intimate experience.

Paul Martzoukos

My nephew and I came in on their first night reopening, as on my last visit they were on the Bandits only menu. We did the chefs menu with pairings. I love the room, the service was fantastic, and the multi course experience was truly amazing. Please try it!! Hard to pick a favorite, but the pork belly, fire roasted watermelon, and the pork chop were absolutely exceptional. And the wine pairings were inspired. An incredible experience, and can't wait to come back!! Good work!!

Andrea Taylor

Tasting menu! This restaurant is invested in local ingredients spun into thoughtful dishes. 10/10 recommend.

Rachel Yadlowski

The food here is all local. The menu planning is diverse and extremely flavourful we ordered one of everything for the table. I regret nothing! The team at Smokey Bear is the best. They truly care about their guests, the food they serve and where the food comes from.

Amy Chetwynd

You need to eat here! Great atmosphere, the chefs and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Everything is cooked over an open flame at this restaurant, and resulted in some of the best short ribs I've. Menu changes as ingredients are freshest.

James Ostime

Amazing food! Three of us got a plate each but really should've tried a fourth dish because everything was so good! Dessert was this pumpkin meringue thing that was out of this world! Only complaint was that the restaurant itself was a tad smoky! I guess it comes with the territory. I'll be back!

Levi Brown

I know the head chef/ owner personally when I took my girlfriend there for our anniversary he kindly gave us our meals for free. When he found out we are expecting a baby in 6 months he offered me a job so we could save extra money. The dishwasher at Smokey bear was a homeless man who would sit outside his restaurant and the head chef gave him a job so the man would get a chance to get back on his feet. Great food, great vibe and even better staff. Don’t be so quick to judge

Erik Mercier

They have one of the best wine lists in the city; insanely rare natural wines by the glass for amazing prices! The food was spectacular as well; hedonistic satiation. Nduja was probably my favourite but the Oyster Mushrooms were radical as well (when you see a chef that excited about an ingredient, you know it's going to be good, locally grown by some super innovative farmers).

Bobbi Brown

I have had the pleasure of dining at Smokey Bear several times now and have loved my food every single time. I enjoyed the unique selections on the menu and everything that I have tried was incredibly delicious. We have sat at the counter by the bar and watched them make all of our food. (highly recommend)The chef would come over and tell us about the food we were eating and talk to us .He told us some cool stories about his travels and the experiences that have influenced the menu. It is very easy to see that much love and passion has gone into the restaurant and into the food. The cocktail menu is so cool and well thought out and I loved trying the creative drink section. The staff was so welcoming and our service was great. I will be dining here often and I recommend Smokey Bear to anyone who wants a nice evening out with family or friends as the dining experience at Smokey Bear allows for lots of conversation with wonderful drinks and great food in a warm atmosphere.

Youngoh Kim

The food is unique and delicious! They have a great selection of wine to pair with food. My favorite was their pork chop and the eggplant! Also kinda weird but I love their music playlist (Biggie, Tupac, Mobb Deep, OutKast, Rage against the machine…etc. Classic.)

Tracie Ryll

OUTSTANDING! What an incredible experience and congrats to this upcoming chef to watch, Riley. Trained internationally but with homegrown roots, Sherwood Park. Not to be missed for foodies! Keep this one alive Edmonton!!!!! All the best from two other restauranteurs with decades behind us.

Kathryn Whittemore

Excellent food. Great wine selection.

Brian Hess

The question with this menu isn’t whether or not you like the food, it’s which dish you like the best! Every option presented on the menu has a base ingredient that any diner can be comfortable with, yet the flavour changes the experience in which you are accustomed to in the best possible way. The staff are undoubtedly passionate, and have already developed a compelling community which engages the diner in a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you want to come for a fine dining experience, or sit back and enjoy a beer with a delightful snack, you won’t be disappointed! In these winter months especially, the fire burning in the kitchen brings a warmth that is sorely missed in the concrete towers of the city.

Kevin Gregg

Went for the tasting menu during the Alberta feature. Beef cheek was good. Nothing else really stood out. Service was mediocre and they neglected to bring the pairing for the dessert course. Had high hopes given the style of food but its definitely a missable experience.

Roselina Hotchkiss

Cannot recommend Smokey Bear enough!!! Every bite was perfection. Staff was warm and welcoming with a high expertise of the wine and food. Edmonton is lucky to have it!

shaun hicks

Solid, well thought out food prepared well!

Nina Karpoff

Great place. Be prepared to spend some time with the people you are dining with. Each dish comes out for you to share. Many different dishes so you are experiencing a lot of different flavours. Food is fantastic and unique. It's an experience as much as a meal.

Aaron Molnar

Quick and simple. We were in and out real quick. We just stopped in for a drink while we waited for our dinner reservation. I wish I knew what drinks we ordered but they dont seem to have a drink menu online. But the picture of what we got is on the website. Very aesthetically pleasing. I believe it was scotch based? With a massive ice cube and a grilled slice of orange. Just lovely. 30$ for 2 cocktails

Jim Hope

Riley, Campbell and Dennis are cooking some seriously good food. Everyone is so friendly and attentive. They love what they are doing and are supporting local producers! Jillian makes a mean cocktail!

K mcc

What a unique dining experience! So many flavours... thank you, we loved it!

Lisa McDonald

Great new edition to the YEG dining scene. Love the ambience, staff and food. The pork chop was very good, the beets dish delish, and the dessert was yummy! Will definitely be back.

Sunaina Kakkar

We’ve now been going to Smokey Bear for the past year. The staff have a wealth of knowledge in the Wine and Food industry! I absolutely love how the tasting menu changes with season. The food is so good and so well prepared! The atmosphere at this boutique restaurant is amazing! I highly recommend Smokey Bear!

Candice

The food is absolutely incredible. Flavor combinations I have never experienced before that blew me away. Food you can tell is prepared and cooked so meticulously, combined with some amazing creative flavors. Great atmosphere for social dining. Foodie's you're gonna love it!

Alyse Huynh

I went here on a Saturday night with a reservation. I was unpleasantly surprised at the prices for everything, but was excited to try the food, as I had heard good things. I was at a table of 6 and we ordered a variety of things instead of the $80 pp menu. Honestly, the flavours were great, but every single one of us at the table left hungry and unsatisfied. We went to another restaurant and each got a whole meal to finish off the night. This was after ordering multiple of almost every dish at Smokey Bear to share. The service was good, decor nice and trendy. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of what happened at the end of the night. Our bill was split and I was the first to pay. I also was not paying attention so I added my standard 20% tip on top of the bill. They had added an autograt of 18% (which is standard) but our server did not tell any of us, so 2 out of the 6 of us added an extra tip. Partly my fault for not paying attention, but I've worked in the service industry and it's common courtesy to just remind patrons of autograt. Our server was also still standing next to our table and finishing a transaction when I realized I tipped almost 40%, so I have a hunch she heard me talking about it and actively avoided addressing me after that. I hope this isn't a common practice at Smokey Bear YEG. A simple reminder goes a long way.

Andrea Johnston

A truly unique dining experience in Edmonton. The food speaks for itself and is some of the most delicious I've had in the city. The staff is knowledgeable and always there right when you need them. Definitely would recommend!

Keaton Buchberger

The staff are great. You are looked after the moment you walk in the door. The food is excellent. Unique dishes that you won’t get anywhere else. You need to try the pork chop!

Chris Boyle

This is a great spot! Tried the flatbread with a delicious salami spread, the endives, and the pork chop. food and service was amazing! Can't wait to go back

Ed Sparks

Delcious wood fired comfort food. What a great addition to Old Strarhcona!

Ryan Buehler

By Odin's Eyepatch! This place was an absolute delight! While really leaning into the smoked aspect (which would possibly make you think meat heavy) this restaurant excels at surprise pairings (cherries and beef rib? *drool*) and balance in a shared meal experience! *Yes, their MO is shared plate, heads up* I am saving up to do the "Chef's Meal" for next time! The first thing that hits is the delightful smoke smell as soon as you enter! It's intoxicating and immediately gives your stomach the grumblies. Then the place setting with a simple menu card tucked in says one thing: We specialize in making a few things REALLY well. The drink menu is expansive and feels great (like literally feels good on the fingers, you'll see) Our group of four ordered almost everything off the a la carte menu (minus 3 items - Pork, radishes, and zucchini cause they were out) They dictated the order and every plate came with an explanation of what the dish entailed. Everything was a flavour journey, even the flatbread (that salami spread though *chef kiss*) It was NOT meat heavy with so many great vegetable dishes as well. I would recommend every dish and definitely get dessert. That was a perfect amount for 4 people. An incredible spread, great service, awesome vibe. WILL be back again! Especially as the seasonal menu changes.

John Mallz

Great dining experience!! Had our company Christmas party here. Fantastic job on the renovation. Place felt very open and spacious compared to what it used to be before. Well amount of staff for the event so our food and drinks was being refilled/served like clockwork. The staff was also friendly and informative. The food was AMAZING! We Had about 5-6 dishes served and I was blown away by each one! Each dish was basically better than the last! The sausage paste and flatbread appetizer is one of my favorites. The pork chop with cranberry sauce was juicy and cooked to perfection and the steak and potatoes was delightful. Make sure to save room for dessert!

Fleurs Flowers

We came here for a staff dinner in October and had the BEST time. We sat at the counter close to the kitchen and felt like we were watching a live master chef while enjoying delicious food and the most amazing wine and cocktails... dinner and a show. Can't wait to go back

Adam Morrison

Went in 2021 with a couple of friends and was really looking forward to Smokey bear. We're both avid BBQ'ers and were really looking forward to the idea of everything being cooked over maple wood. Location was right off whyte and easy to get to. Servers were pleasant although service itself was slow enough it put a damper on the evening. What stood out more than anything though was that it was just 'decent'. That's not a crime in itself, but the prices were really high for what the dishes ended up being, particularly with a place like Meat right across the street. I'm not opposed to paying a premium price for a high quality dinner, it just felt like Smokey Bear missed the mark. I'd consider going again down the road and updating this. I'm really hoping it'll be better if I do.

S W

One of the best meals we've had in Edmonton. Not many restaurants offer tasting menus in the city, let alone ones of this calibre. Staff was friendly and very respectful of COVID measures. Will be back again!

Cody McDonagh

This food is amazing! We had the endive salad, pork chop, and steak. Well worth it! Had a cucumber gin and tonic and an old fashioned, both of which were delicious. Will definitely be headed back for more.

paula schoepp

What a gem! Service was excellent, food was amazing - a shout out to the fennel! The location is great too!

Sean Boychuk

Riley and his team absolutely killed it. Amazing dinner and overall dining experience. The chef's tasting gave us more than enough food which each course being better than the last. Great cocktails and wine as well. Cannot wait to get back. Smokey Bear may be the next heavy hitter in Edmonton!

Adam Buck

Easily the top restaurant in Edmonton. Sitting at the bar watching the chefs work makes you feel like you're in an episode of The Chefs Plate. Their attention to detail, and locally sourced foods are icing on a beautiful cake. The space is perfectly suited to an intimate dinner or a large group of friends. This is one of those places I tell everyone to go to!

Chris Miller

If you haven't eaten here you need to. Ultimate level attention to detail from a team of artisans that reaches every level of the organization. Team work, amazing food, legendary staff. I'll be back asap.

Craig S

Absolutely amazing, from when I walk in, being greeted like family, to the outstanding food, it was a stellar experience. I highly recommend Smokey Bear and will be back again.

Isabelle Gauthier

Ran across this restaurant walking down Whyte and couldn’t have stumbled upon a better place! The service was fantastic and everyone was very educated on the menu and the ingredients. My partner and I got seated at the kitchen bar which which was different but fun! We each ordered the chefs special and couldn’t have been more pleased! It was a nice surprise having some else choose for us and even better surprise when foods we normally wouldn’t order came out and were amazing.(Nobody knows what endives are but they are so good!). We had the opportunity to chat with the chef and found out every thing is locally sourced or made in house. We will totally be back here again for food and drinks! Great place to have stumbled upon.

Jacki Cook

I am not one to leave a review but I went to Smokey Bear a few weeks ago and I have to say I was impressed with everything! The atmosphere was great, the staff was wonderful and the food was awesome. My favorite was the spareribs....so yummy! Each of the 5 people I was with enjoyed their meals immensely. I would recommend the Smokey Bear for anyone who wants a great night out with friends enjoying great food and cocktails in a cool atmosphere! 5 Stars for me!

Conner Ferguson

Good service, great food, great atmosphere. Talked to the owner aswell as some additional staff members throughout the night, great moral values and overall amazing people. Truly enjoyed my experience. Strongly recommend, can't wait to go back.

Doug May

What a fabulous evening. Riley and his staff are so welcoming. Dinner and the whole experience was so much fun. I am almost 70 years old and never realized until recently dinner could be so much fun. Great food. Great service. Great evening. From Doug Blaine and Chelsea.

Gabriel Janse Van Rensburg

Wow! Over priced!!! We had high expectations but were extremely disappointed by this banal concoction . It ended up being one of those meals where you wish you could ask for your money back. The food was very expensive and supremely bland. Expect to pay $18 for six mushrooms on a skewer with a yeast sauce that just tasted insipidly weird. I have no idea what inspired the bleak endive dish, 6 or 8 leaves with the same amount of berries on a stilton sauce that was extremely forgettable, again $18! The tartar was completely overpowered by the level of acidity in the dish. There was not one dish that we ate that I could recommend. The ambience is destroyed by the badly done lighting, it is way too bright and extremely unflattering. The servers were polite and efficient and the wine list is fantastic. There are many more worthy eateries to support and spend your hard earned money at.

Jessica Dodds

Great little spot off Whyte. Extensive wine list and all the dishes are so thoughtfully put together. Can't wait to come back.

Maxime Bonafé

Top 5 of my favorite restaurants. We are from France and we are used to try many restaurants, especially Michelin Star ones. This one needs your interest. The cuisine is very interesting, very surprising and mastered tastes. The service was perfect, the waitresses are very professional, know their job and are passionate and it shows. We really spent an excellent evening accompanied by professionals who allow us to discover a new cuisine. You won't be disappointed.

Yang Liu

The food and cocktails bare phenomenal. Definitely go double on the flatbread.

Roben Nurgitz

Atmosphere was great. The server recommended wine and the chef’s selection. Both menu and liquor list were very unique. We were very happy with our chef’s selection. All of the dishes were outstanding. My favourite dish of the night was the short rib, unfortunately not available a la carte and can only be enjoyed on the chef’s selection. So, go with an appetite!! I will be back!

Malcolm Rabb

Unreal. Amazing service from both floor staff and the chefs on the line. One of the best dining experiences and food in Edmonton. Go there as soon as possible.

Adrian Makowichuk

What a unique experience, with the open kitchen and a not so common way of cooking. This place delivered on all fronts, great food with well thought out presentation. Its apparent every aspect of the environment they created was meticulously thought out, paired with a fine glass of hospitality. Soon to be on Edmonton's most wanted list I am positive. Looking forward to our next visit to test the rest of the kitchens creations!!

Cameron Powell

We have been lucky enough to dine here twice, and both have been excellent experiences. Every dish we ordered was delicious, the atmosphere is lovely, and the wine list has been thoughtfully constructed. A new Edmonton gem!

Shawna Kelsch

Amazing service, and an excellent cuisine experience of all locally sourced meats and veggies. The attention to detail is outstanding!

Tim Pearce

Delicious food, great beers, fantastic service. We had a fabulous experience at Smoky Bear and the staff and owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. 10/10, will dine again.

Samanta GP

We did a reservation for dinner, to celebrate my husband’s birthday. From the service to the food, it was a great experience! The staff were very knowledgeable of the menu and very good in suggesting options for us to try. Manager/owner was very nice and looked after us to make sure we were enjoying our evening. We are already planning to go back with friends who value and appreciate the wood fire cooking.

Matt Pangman

First impression was... this place smells amazing (assuming you love camp fires). The decor is ok, lighting could use some work. For the price we paid I would expect the environment to match the smell and the food. Now, onto the food. One of the best meals iv ever had. Each plate was thoroughly explained by the waiter, who we later learned was the owner. The story behind each dish really added to the dinning experience. Every bite was incredible. I can't give a full 5 star simply because of the price. A bottle of wine, 3 cocktails, and the chefs suggested menu for 2 ran over $300 after a tip

Josh R

We've been back twice since they've opened and it has been amazing every time. The porkchop, the Nduja spread, the grilled flat bread, all of it's amazing! We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Ky Gilchrist

As a return customer this is an overdue review: growing up pork chop was a weekly staple in our household, I despised my mother’s flavourless and dry attempt at creating something edible. After experiencing the Chef’s Selection, Smokey Bear is the only place in existence where I would even consider ordering a pork chop; I’ve had it three times. I’ve devoured every dish on the menu and every dish is delicious. The exception being the Tomatoes but that’s a personal vendetta against a disgusting raw vegetable, in my opinion. And to be fair, I genuinely enjoyed the flavour of the smoked tomatoes that accompanied the dish. The serving staff is very knowledgeable (especially about wines) and does an excellent job of explaining each dish and the overall experience. I find that most servers at other restaurants are unable to keep up with my water consumption. At Smokey Bear I’ve never had my water glass be empty. The drink selection is dangerous in the sense that they are all so delicious! Order the Caesar! Our table was never empty of food, and I’ve never had to wait for the next dish to arrive. The chefs are incredibly talented and we are fortunate that the owner has brought a unique dining experience to our city. Overall a warm culture and incredible experience. Food is always better cooked over an open flame! As a professional in the field of design I have to admire the concealed complexity of their seemingly simple dishes! Contradicting, I know... As a side note: I also have to give credit to an extremely well done logo that represents exactly those qualities. There isn’t a better or more welcoming place in Edmonton to sit down, converse and share a meal with your loved ones. P.S. Order the Smokie and ask the Chef/Owner about the Wizard!

Keilyn Beissel-Aitken

I can't express enough how Smokey Bear exceeded every expectation that we had! We sat at the kitchen bar, and it was great to see how well the kitchen team worked together and how it flowed smoothly. Campbell and Matt were friendly and very knowledgeable, and their explanations of the dishes were amazing and helped us make out some of the flavours we were experiencing. Nico hooked us up with a bottle of wine that paired awesome with the food we ordered, and aligned with our preferences. And Riley also made sure we were taken care of the whole night! Very refreshing to visit a restaurant with a well balanced team and that seems to have honed in on their processes and prioritizes guest experiences. & the food was so delicious! I would highly recommend the pita + nduja, the eggplant was amazing and very well-balanced, and there's not many places you can find in Edmonton that cook shrimp perfectly! We will definitely be coming back!

Kelsey Bronetto

Orange wine. Enough said!

Jon Ballantyne

Great meeting you last night Riley, Ash and team! Amazing food, amazing wine, amazing space, and amazing people!!! Just try everything, it's all different and superb!!! Will be back with family and friends. This is the next hot spot in Edmonton without a doubt!!!

Tania Vander Meulen

Everything was great! The food was tasty. The wine list was really unique. The service was great. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. Will go back again!

Carrie Thunder

For our 21st anniversary we decided to try Smokey Bear a small open cook fire restaurant that had been on my “must try” list since they first opened. We had the chef’s tasting menu & everything was phenomenal. It was interesting because likely I would not of chosen any of the items on my own, but they were all so good. Highlights- course 1 flat bread with a spreadable salami. I had no idea spreadable salami was an option. This may change my life because I will be getting more somehow. Course 2 - a fresh and tangy melon wrapped in cured ham. Course 3- candied salmon which was amazing and kind of reminded us of dried fish which we have only gotten in NWT. But it was served with a simple onion cream sauce that blew me away. Amazing! Course 4- a mix of tomatoes, fresh made cheese curds and herbs. So fresh and flavourful (this was one of my husbands favourite items) Course 5- king oyster with a gravy-like sauce. This was the best mushroom I have ever are. My husband said that is a rather bold statement considering how many fresh mushrooms I have ate. But I stand by the statement. Best mushroom ever! Course 6- pork belly with charred cabbage and a whole slew of condiments- amazing! Flavours were on point, pork was juicy and flavourful. My favourite part of the meal. I thought I was too full for desert but the mango custard was so light fluffy and fresh tasting impossible to turn down. Wow- that was a lot of highlights! Guess it would simply be easer to say the whole meal was a highlight. I can not wait to go back!

Wyatt Liboiron

Smokey Bear was a fantastic experience complete with incredible food, wine, and service. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about all the wine and food, telling stories that went with each new plate or glass from the Chefs Tasting Menu. This really heightened the experience as each new item brought out was it's own culinary adventure. This is a great place to go if you want to celebrate a special occasion or just have an upscale dining night. My Fiancé and I would recommend everyone to treat themselves and give Smokey Bear a try.

Matilda Lundin

Excellent food & cocktails! I have been there twice so far and recommend it warmly. First time I went to eat and everything on the menu that I tried has a unique flavour-combination to it, even something as simple at least on the surface as the flatbread. Second time I went for cocktails and even a classic cocktail like a G&T has a unique touch to it with cucumber and pepper. I also really appreciated the flavours of the Maiden-eye & Hawaiian Tea Party, and the first time I went I had the Kombucha-rita which was a hit too. The atmosphere is cozy & welcoming and Riley, Ash and the team really knows their stuff! I warmly recommend this place!

J Roos

Wood-fired grill, low-manipulation wine list and Aussie inspired dishes using local ingredients. Loved the pork chop and mushrooms.

Britt

This place has quickly become one of my favourite Edmonton restaurants. The food, service and atmosphere are all amazing. The nduja (salami spread) is SO delicious- I could eat it with a spoon! And the pork chop is amazing too. I haven’t had anything I haven’t liked. The service is top notch and all the staff are so friendly and attentive. It’s a really fun and welcoming atmosphere. I can’t say enough good things about this place and I can’t wait to go back!

Nicolas Palavecino

Awesome experience! Awesome food ! Great atmosphere! Head chef and own was great at explaining everything and giving us the best experience he could! For someone who doesn't eat out alot this one definitely a restaurant I'm glad I went too !

Karen McLaughlin

Wow...get ready taste buds this exciting addition to whyte ave will not disappoint! Interesting tapas style food that will monthly and seasonally change to keep you coming back. Service, ambiance ,wine and cocktail menu all wonderful...great to see many other diners last night venture into the cold for this delightful foodie experience!????
