Currently under construction but still has beautiful views of the river valley and downtown Edmonton. The food is pretty decent as well but I always go for the views. Once the renovations are done, I recommend making a reservation to eat on their patio because of the beautiful scenery. I would definitely recommend this place anytime in summer or fall, weather permitting.

Came here with my friend April 24th around 6 or 7pm, Service was very good,it was quite cold and there is no heaters,they tell you that before you come so it was fine though, the bubbles you have to reserve which are heated. Anyway i started with 2 appetizers, one being chicken wings and the other the sweet potato fries, the wings were TERRIBLE i never complain to the waiter though, thats just how am. They were old or something, something was definetly wrong with them, maybe freezer burnt, the honey garlic sauce was good, they were presented well, but the chicken itself didnt have any flavor and more chewy then how normal chicken in wings should be, i still ate them all as I was starving lol wouldnt pay $18 for them again the fries were very good. Big bowl of fries for $12 with chipolte sauce, i think they could of had a little bit more sauce but it was good, the water was presented well, and the ice tea i got was good and in a fancy glass, something i have NEVER seen before is instead of him taking my glass to refill it, he came out with a little bottle full of ice tea to refill my glass which i thought was very cool as i havent ever seen that before and i goto millions of different resturaunts. Mains: my friend got the halibut which was very different, sauce was very good on it and was presented very very nicely the red quino under the fish was very good as i tried it, I got the new york steak and asked for medium well but was defenitly a well done, it says wild mushroom demi glaze, it was more like wild mushroom gravy. Ive had demi glaze demi glaze many times and that isnt it. The broccoli was not the greatest, the better type of broccoli yes, but wasnt made right, my plate itself was presented 7/10, for sides of steaks u can have fries,salad or potatoes, i got potatoes, baby potatoes, they were okay.and with carrots as well, steak itself was okay, didnt have to spit any of it out so it it was good minus it wasnt cooked ideally how i had asked.also by the time i was done eating the vegtables i still had more then half of a steak left, i think they should put more vegtables with the steak to match it. Because in my opinion, my preference you should always have something to eat with your steak, i would prefer mashed potatoes and lobster but thats not on the menu, maybe a bigger portion of vegtables would be more ideal. They have no lobster tails, i know a ton of guys including myself like to have steak and lobster. I wish they had a bigger menu and more steak options, maybe even ribs, they need lobster for sure. They should have options for your glaze or what kinda sauce you want for your steak. My steak was $38 aaand i wouldnt say it was worth it. Maybe 30$ the GRAVY(demi glaze) not demi glaze wasnt great. Atmosphere Very nice with a very nice view of the river and also some homeless that decided to come right beside us in the glass was kind of comedic sooo that was fine but maybe however they got in there should fence it off? Anyway overall, i would come back again, try something else, whoever reads this please check your wings lol they are way off. All the food came out very quick and they were friendly, also sorry my friend got the hot toddy and i got the irish coffee(alcohlic drinks) $16 each hers was awesome, mine was very strong lol

I'm very satisfied with food as well as with the service. By the first glance there aren't that much many items on the menu but my family and I ordered half of the lunch menu and everything on it was absolutely delicious. Burger was the best. We ordered small nachos from appetisers menu and they were very much not small. Passion fruit pannacotta tastes more like lemon and New York cheesecake is absolutely delicious but a little too dry to eat it by itself, I suggest getting some drink with it. We got a lady that works here in the morning she gave us dinner menu and messed up couple times but she was very sweet and despite all the flows her service was very good.

Made reservations to eat in the igloo for my wife’s birthday and confirmed the reservation 3 times. Took time off work to drive into town to make our 5:00 reservation. When we arrived we were told that we had no reservation and were told “we’ve had some trouble with reservations but there’s nothing we can do”. We were then offered the chance to sit in an igloo for half an hour until the next reservation arrived. Needless to say we didn’t bother to stay at this joke of a restaurant and went down the street and were greeted with open arms at Sabor. Please don’t waste your time with Riverside Bistro.

What a major disappointed! My sister, her two kids drove 5 hours and my mom drove 3 so we could enjoy dinning in the igloos, we made a reservation one month prior. We packed up our families (3 kids total) to bring them to this neat experience only to find out they lost our reservation. I understand accidents happen, but the lack of apology and no offer of a solution left us very disappointed. In the end I was able to get our $22 in parking reimbursed.

November 20 2021, we just had my sisters birthday in the igloos. Words cannot express how amazing this experience was. The views, service, and especially the food all top notch. I would highly recommend this for any occasion from girls night out to intimate dinner with your partner. I will definitely be coming back and doing this again. If I could give it more than five stars I definitely would.

The patio has one of the best views in the city, so it's a great place for lunch on a nice summer day. Good is okay; about what one might expect from a hotel restaurant. Filling, and tasty enough, but nothing special. The times I've been there, service has been hit and miss. On one occasion, though I had a reservation, I was still asked to wait about 10 minutes.

We are Marriott members and this was the first time at the hotel. After checking in after a eight hour drive we went down to the bistro for a drink. The menu looks good and there is a wide variety of alcoholic beverages to choose from. There is a great view and lovely patio.

Arguably the BEST views of the river valley. The Riverside Bistro has the best patio location in town. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the service doesn't match the views. I was last on this patio in 2011 when U2 was in town for their 360 tour. The location and the stunning views stick out in my head. 8 years later, the view remains the same but unfortunately the food and service doesn't match the exquisite views of the river valley. In my opinion a location like this, bathed in sunshine should be a license to print money. It seems that Marriot hasn't quite figured that out. Let me preface all of this by saying that our server was a good guy, he worked really hard and was personable with us. I do think that his service and that of the others that helped us needs refinement. This is the role of management. There needs to be some oversight and standards especially with a brand like Marriot. Irfan was sweet to us and especially to my daughters, but when out friend asked what was on tap his response was: "do you like Stella? They're good I will get you one." The Stella was in a bottle. The service wasn't horrible as I said. I just expect a higher standard. Not fine dining, just the general concept that there is a standard. On that note, my wife and I ordered a bottle of Prosecco. It came out in an ice bucket, but there was no ice in that bucket. This seems basic to me. I would say the menu here needs to be revamped. The food just doesn't stand out. I don't mind paying a premium for a spot with a view but if I am paying that premium I expect the food to match. The nachos we ordered were just okay. This is a great spot to chill on a sunny day. It's arguably the best located patio in town. Just don't expect the quality do food and service to be as excellent as that view.

I stayed at the Courtyard last April for 3 nights. I had breakfast here every morning. Menu choices were sufficient, staff was polite, but sluggish. Haven't tried lunch, but did have dinner one evening. It feels more like a restaurant than a lot of other Courtyard Bistros and my burger was decent. Staff was very friendly again, but not very fast or efficient. However, the drinks menu was disappointing. Pretty much only the Molson list of beers. They definitely should learn how to sell their local craft beers (I visited Edmonton's microbreweries and they are amazing!) I wouldn't return for dinner here, but rather go to e.g. the Underground Tap and Grill, which is a 3 minutes walk.

Very pleasing ambience and spacious setting. Staff was helpful and prompt in serving. The breathtaking view of the North Saskatchewan River valley and the green fields, from the extensive glass walls of the restaurant compelled us to sit there and enjoy our time much longer than planned. We had ordered a chocolate cake and a fresh fruit tart, and then coffee. Both the desserts were prepared in-house, felt so fresh and wholesome in each bite. I would highly recommend eating here whenever you are craving for a mouthwatering gustatory experience.

This place gets a solid OK, but overpriced. Our server wasn't very friendly, but the halibut i had was pretty good. The highlight here was the outdoor tents and honestly the only reason we went. On the phone they advised it was $150 minimum for food, then in person said it was $100 minimum for food and $50 charge for the tent. This is actually different. My dad had the seafood pasta and said the seafood was overcooked. I also had the most expensive old fashioned I've ever bought. I get that times are tough for all industries right now but... I don't think I'll be going back.

Went for the igloo outdoor eating experience. Igloo had two heaters running and was warm (weather outdoors -8 celcius). Could eat without jacket on. Igloo $50 with needing to purchase at least $100 in food--> total $150 minimum to spend in igloo. 90 min for igloo, firm. So if kitchen is backed up and you get your food late and the 90 min period is up, they seat you indoors so you can finish your meal. Portion sizes were large enough for sharing at times, prices decent. Excellent service and hospitality. Would go here again.

Went to Riverside Bistro Saturday April 6, 2019 for a romantic evening and for a place that is reservation only you would expect good quality food. However, that was not the case at this restaurant. We ordered an appetizer to start and it was so cold. We ordered the beer batter cauliflower and for a deep fried dish you would think you would see the steam coming out when you cut into the cauliflower but that was not the case. It came time to order our main course and they ran out of Jerk Chicken. The Jerk Chicken is the only chicken dish on the menu.... another disappointment. To say the least our evening just got better and better. We had ordered the 8oz steak and it was pathetic. It was worse then a truck stop steak. I got the vegetarian burger and it was really boring and dry. I found for a higher end restaurant that is "reservation only" to be on the lower end scale and over priced for what you get and the service was mediocre. The only good thing about this experience was the view. I personally would not recommend this place to anyone. Despite the view.... I would rather spend that kind of money elsewhere.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Charcuterie board was a mixture or sandwich coldcuts. We received no description of anything on the board (even after asking). Main courses were over cooked and under seasoned. Overall; disappointing.

If you can look past the construction mess at the front of the building you'll find a gem of a location at the Rverside Bistro. Looks like the have a newer menu. The food my family had was excellent all round. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was excellent as well. Fast, courteous and professional. The restaurant was spotless! It's an ideal location to dine outside and social distance!

My daughter had made reservations for us for my birthday and we arrived on time. However, due to a mix up, our view table that was marked for us on the seating chart was not free. We waited for about 10 to 15 minutes, we were then seated at a very large table mistakenly and then directed to another table, being assured that if a view table was available, we could go there. This did not happen. We enjoyed our food and our time together, but our experience was not great and staff did not make it right. Maybe we were too forgiving, saying it's okay to them when it really wasn't..I hope they take this to heart and go out of their way next time to make it right.

Visited today to experience dome dining. Food was great no doubt about that! I understand that there is demand for the experience, but 90 minutes did not feel enough time to fully immerse in the experience considering it does take time to get the food plus the $50 fee for reservation. We didnt have enough time to feel that we could get drinks or dessert, and we only had enough time to eat quickly. I know the server is suppose to remind us of our time, but it felt even more rushed as he kept reminding us almost every time he came by.

I have been coming to this place for years, great views of the city, Food and drink menu changes seasonally and is always decent to say the least. On my last visit on June 3rd an umbrella caught air and fell on my head, if you have been there you know they are large! I did not think much of it, now after 2 days I still have a bump on my head, Manager never came to see what happened, completely ignore the situation, my friend felt so bad he paid the bill, to my surprise they insulted me by applying a 10 dollar discount! How ridiculous is that? I offer 10 bucks if you let me whack the manager in the head!!!!

We loved the view of the river. We ordered a sharing plate and nachos. We enjoyed both dishes. The avacado dip was fantastic. The restaurant was basically empty for lunch on Saturday. Service was mediocre. Plus, it was freezing cold with air-conditioning although it was cold, wet and rainy outside. We asked to have the air conditioning turned off, and they said it would take 5 minutes but it stayed on all afternoon.

We had dinner in the heated igloo. The views were great but I can see why they don't do it past - 10 degrees. The heater didn't heat the igloo that well and there were a few tears here and there. It was just myself and my partner so it might be warmer if you have more people. They do provide blankets if you want to use them. The food was good, on par with Earl's. I'd go again for the view in the summer.

I enjoy staying at the hotel because of the location and beautiful views, however the service at the restaurant has decreased significantly since my last visit. I was sat down by a gentleman and the server took no less than 20 minutes to acknowledge me at my table. Once she came to ask my order, I inquired about the availability of one of their tap beers that I enjoyed on their patio before. Initially she said yes they have it, then realized she was mistaken (no big deal, I’ll just ask what they have available on tap) before I was able to ask, she promptly walks away to print a receipt for another table and tends to them. There were only 3 tables occupied total at the restaurant so she could have finished helping me, especially since she took 20+ minutes to talk to me in the first place. I picked up my things and walked away, which I am sure took her quite an eternity to notice.

The place is beautiful for sure...both night and day but the server 'maria', gave the wrong vibe when we walked in, as if she was bothered, and the ridiculous thing, we were asked to 'leave', when we paid $50 for the dome itself. We hardly stayed there for There was 3 other domes, nothing getting set up. Very bad experience. I would not really suggest the place.

As I entered the hotel I wasn't sure about the establishment, based on the appearance from the outside. Upon entering, was I wrong, great atmosphere, great staff and amazing food. I booked a table here 3 days prior to V-Day for myself and my husband. I had been to the restaurant a couple times with other family and friends in the past and really loved it, they have always exceeded my expectations. When I booked I told the person that took my booking that this was a very special Valentines Day dinner for us as it was the 1st time my husband and I were together on V-Day. The person assured me all would be taken care of and it would be great. We arrived a few mins before our time and stood waiting while 5 staff members were standing around. There was one other couple in the restaurant and 4 Igloos on their patio. After a few mins someone seated us and the restaurant felt gloomy. We were given a nice table by the window. We found the inside to be rather cold as I think a door was left open. We sat down and 2 mins later all we can hear was very loud shouting coming from the kitchen staff. They were very loud and we heard everything. My husband ordered Halibut for dinner and he did not finish it as it was over cooked and very dry. I tasted it and indeed it was sooo dry and very chewy. I finished it for him as I did not want to be rude and + I was still hungry. I m sorry but for a $35 plate that food better be the best. The chef was coming around asking the guests how their meal was. When he got to us I was very honest. And he questioned me like he knew that the plate was overcooked but they still sent it out. I was taken aback by that. We did order Desserts as we were not full from the pricy meals we just had. We were told by our server that the Chef wants the bill for the 1 dessert as we ordered 2. We said that was not necessary but they took it off anyway. I m sorry but if the meal was the issue then why not take that off the bill. Its because the dessert was $12. I m not trying to be ungrateful, I realize that it is something but honestly I did not ask for that. Its not about money or pricing here. The fact that our 1st V-Day together was wrecked by a restaurant that I had such high expectations from. I was very disappointed and felt cheated. The only good thing about that dinner was being with my hubby. I got my hubbys hopes up as well as I raved about this place, but they let me down. No specials arrangements were made, nothing was taken care of as they told me on the phone. I called them the next day and no one answers the phone, I called back again this morning and after 10 rings a person answered. I asked whom can I speak with about comments and complaints he said he was the GM and that I could tell him my issues, in the end he told me he would relay my msg to the manager of the restaurant. lol Who would contact me. I called them at 8am and its now 4:20 pm. I m really not expecting anything as I have already been let down. We spend close to $150.00 on this dinner and we could have gone elsewhere like Cactus had a better time, better food for sure and probably gotten more for less then that. The only 1 good thing I would say is the staff that severed us was very nice and polite. That's about it. I wont be going back here.

Great views. Heated "igloos" with blankets on the patio for winter. Cocktail list is old school classic. Exceptional edamame. Reasonably priced. Great experience in general. Sunset overlooking the river. Better than expected for a hotel restaurant. Leon was great evening tour guide.

We just had dinner on Christmas eve, not many choices to eat when you're from out of town, this didn't disappoint. Shared the recommended appy, delicious. I also went with recommended dinner item and it was delicious. Cans of craft beer. Service was lovely. Great experience and we look forward to returning when we're in town again, hopefully the patio in the summer.

Beautiful view but there never seems to be any staff around to take your order. This is the 2nd time I went to the bistro and after 10 minutes I finally tracked someone down to take my order. Maybe next time i will bring my own food and drink and just enjoy the view ????

Hostess wasnt dressed professionally.No smile and looked grumpy. Said couldn't give us an umbrella as was a bit gusty. Even though there were umbrellas already up and couldn't sit in the section with a fixed umbrella. That section was closed. Even though its 3 steps away. Were sat down. Then a couple moved right as we sat down so we moved to that table. It wasnt very busy anyway. Hostess came back and said "You could of given me a minute to clear the table" With an attitude. There were 2 glasses on the table. We left and went to the fairmont next door. They had umbrellas and impeccable service. We spent $300 and will be there again on Friday with a group of 12 as they were that good! Even though they were busier than this place. Wont waste my time again fairmont have a patio just as good anyway.

This is still my favorite dinner date. Unfortunately they took the spinach dip (with a gluten free option) off the menu. So sad to have lost the only Gluten free spinach dip that I've found in town. Please bring it back! Everything else on the menu is fantastic too, great accomodation for allergies.

Views were lovely, food was alright but overpriced. Service was great while we dined and they even gave my mom a complementary cake slice for her birthday. One issue that made me wary going in was the inconsistent communication when I called to reserve an igloo. I got conflicting information about whether our reservation was confirmed or not from several staff members and had to keep calling to get a straight answer. Overall, the igloo dining was a unique experience and I would recommend it

When we entered the restaurant my husband and I were greeted immediately and brought to our table. I was a little worried we wouldn't have a nice table because we were late due to my two-year-old hiding my wallet from me at the last minute (kids are awesome like that), but we had a wonderful view of the river and distant view of the Red Bull Crashed Ice event. I probably should have brought binoculars, but that might have looked a little weird. I mean, not that that ever stops me from doing most things. But I digress. We were seated and given a menu and told that it was a smaller menu than usual, which surprised and slightly disappointed me. Any other night I probably wouldn't have mined, but on Fridays my diet is a bit more limited, and in fact I had chosen this restaurant based partially on their menu being diverse enough to be suitable for a Friday. I looked at the menu, saw really the only non-meat entrée was poutine. As much as I like poutine, it was not really what I was looking for. I usually look for poutine after drinking a lot and at sometime after midnight. I asked our waiter, "Oh, nobody told us this in advance, no fish and chips on a Friday during Lent?" He immediately took the menu and said that he'd see what he could do and after a short time came back with the full menu, explaining that they had been expecting much higher volumes of people, but since it wasn't busy the regular menu wasn't a problem. We ordered our drinks. My husband had a beer and I ordered cider, which was brought to me with ice. I'm not sure who told people that cider ought to be served with ice, but it shouldn't. When I asked our waiter if I could please have a glass in which to put the ice, he took the cider away and removed the ice for me, which I appreciated (probably did himself a favour, because I'm messy with a task like that). I ordered the Pacific salmon and my husband the butter chicken. My salmon was perfect and the vegetables were perfect. My husband enjoyed his butter chicken. It was spicier than normal, which is exactly what he likes. Our waiter was attentive the entire time. No doubt, this restaurant is going on my list of places to which I will return. There were a few little hiccups, but they were also rectified, and our dining experience overall was very good.

I went here for a staff Christmas party, and it's a super nice place. The food was less excellent than I was expecting (I had the butter chicken, being a bit of a curry fanatic). But the view is wonderful and our service was quite good.
