Quite wonderful food and amazing staff! I came here with my husband a couple months back to celebrate a job promotion and the waiter congratulated us. Had the steaks and side salads, all cooked nicely and seasoned well. Thank you, Normand's! We will come again.

I ordered the roast duck and it was soo delicious! It comes with 2 thighs but it was so much I could only finish 1. The potatoes were also so yummy and complemented the overall dish very well. Would recommend as a date night destination =)

Had my birthday here, and it was amazing. We got the special with my wife, and a nice bottle of wine. Afterwards, the server brought me a nice birthday surprise with real melted chocolate sunday for dessert with a nice candle. Great food, service and atmosphere.

Normand is always exceptional! He definitely knows how to treat all of his customers. We've had many dinners there and my wife and I just celebrated our 26th anniversary there on July 15th. From start to finish it was nothing less than AMAZING!! The food was perfection. The chef hit every part of the dish spot on! It's always a pleasure to see Normand and hear his jokes! I had the fruit bowl & toast and a side of back bacon. Such a nice presentation of the meal, assortment of strawberries, watermelon sliced banana, blackberries, cantaloupe, fresh pineapple, honeydew. The rye toast was fresh & tasty, and the slices of back bacon grilled to perfection. Our waiter was attentive & so pleasant. We will definitely be back!

Normand's is a dining experience that emphasizes game. Service was friendly, the food was excellent, and then menu choices were intriguing. Exotic meats such as kangaroo can find themselves on the menu, so be willing to try something new. A fancier place with a high but fair priced menu, and a good wine selection.

Other than the company I was with Normands was an exceptional dining experience. Normand (himself) saw to it I was accommodated with my restricted Celiac diet. Everything was a succulent and to perfection. Right down to the gluten free bread.

Normand’s has been a go to for my father and I the past few years, and even during a pandemic, it’s an essential part of special occasions. My partner and I got the two wild game specials as takeout today (venison & kangaroo, and boar & ostrich) along with a bison carpaccio. I’m not sure where else we would be able to find such an amazing wild game selection! The attention to detail is humbling; nothing on your plate is neglected, including the seasonal vegetables (we’re still raving about the wilted greens). Normand Campbell himself is such a warm and welcoming presence and he makes you feel at home even when you’re just there to pick up food in a pandemic. If you’re looking for delicious local food crafted with love and attention, look no further.

The best liver i never had, melt in your mouth sooo tender. All the food we tried was sooo yummy.The service was top top. If you are french you can be served in french too. The harmorny of the restaurant is just perfect if you want to relax and disconnect of the stress of life, also perfect place for couples if you want a romantic and calm supper with your partner. 'Very' tasty and well prepared meal. My first time to Normand's, however I didn't try any of the wild game main dishes (this time), I chose a New York steak instead. The entire meal was perfect; the wild game soup (goulash) was hearty and delicious, the steak dinner was perfectly prepared, and the chocolate cake was very good. The service was first class (including from the owner (Normand? Norm? Norman?), and next time I will try one of the wild game dishes. This is a small, intimate place serving all types of interesting main courses. Perfect for solo, couples, or small groups looking for something different in a high end restaurant... I'll be back for sure.

I LOVE NORMANDS!!!! I've been here for one of my birthdays and just this recent valentines day this year. Everytime I've went here Normand is just amazing and has been exceptionally wonderful. you can tell his business is his passion and treats his guests like royalty. The staff has always been so kind to me and whomever I've been with. I wish I could remember my servers name so I could give them a shout out. The food is delicious!! The bison carpaccio is my favorite. The food here is amazing and beautifully crafted. There is a reason he has been in business for so long. Thanks Normand I will be by again.

My boyfriend and I went with another couple for a nice dinner last Friday, and wanted to try somewhere new. Norman's was somewhere we had always heard about but never tried, so we decided to give it a go. We had reservations for 1930h and were promptly seated. Our server was absolutely fantastic and his knowledge of the extensive menus was quite vast. We had our drinks dropped off at the table, along with some complimentary bread. Things were off to a great start. And then the food came. My boyfriend ordered the filet and lobster tail, and his meal was decent - but hardly worth the price tag for cold side steamed vegetables and half cooked scalloped potatoes. Our friends ordered the bison steak, which tasted like it had sat in its own blood for too long. And the Mornay - which had ZERO flavour. I had ordered the New York - it was the least tender steak I have had in my life. We spoke to some other patrons outside and they all had the specials and said the food was amazing. This was disapointing for us to hear as you think a restaurant that has been a staple for so long would have some solid classics that hold the menu up. And the most frustrating thing was we wanted to support somewhere local and have a great meal, but at over $60 per plate per person, I feel scammed. So in hindsight, if you do decide to go despite it being over priced and needs a whole new menu revamp - get the special, enjoy the drinks and fill up on the bread !

Going to Normand's was my first time eating in a restaurant since the start of the pandemic. Eating there was like remembering what good food tastes like. I was there as part of a large group and not a single person was anything other than pleased. Everything brought to our table was excellent with very filling portion sizes. Presentation, atmosphere, and service was all top notch. You can't help but feel the 'fine' in fine dining. Will definitely be going back.

Very nicely done french cuisine that has a changing menu. the complimentary bread and butter are great as you have three different flavors of butter as well as different types of bread. The place's design remind me very much of traditional french and even italian restaurans. The service was great and the food was very good too. It's not a wow for the price but I do think the price to quality ratio compliment each other very well. The ice cream for dessert was delicious and overall this is a great local restaurant for people to enjoy and maybe celebrate an occasion.

First time here and what an experience. Appetizers are amazing , I highly recommend the foei gras and mussels I probably ate one whole order to myself at a table of . Their seafood pasta was top notch unlike a lot of restaurants gst give you baby seafood , this plate had jumbo size!We were the last party and never felt that they were in a rush to kick us out. Great gem in West downtown. Norman the owner is always greeting and entertaining customers, and all the server's are amazing. The prices are not cheap, but you also get what you pay for. The portions are huge, and they always have a great selection for dessert. Definitely recommend!

I brought my parents for a mother's day dinner. Everything was fantastic. From the wild boar ribs as an appetizer to the filet mignon with a lobster tail. And the cobbler was off the chart! The service was perfect. I haven't been since the early 90's but I definitely will be back soon after this amazing dinner.

Went here for Valentine's Day. We had reservations so we were seated promptly by Normand himself, who was warm and professional. The interior is what you would call old school upscale. At one point I'm sure it was well received but it is starting to look quite dated. Our server was quiet and awkward although you could tell she was trying. Drinks were strong and tasted good. However, there was a total of SEVEN drink menus! Three for wine, one for martinis, two for scotch, and one for Absolut. There was three menus for food, totalling TEN menus all together! Mildly excessive. The food was prepared well and reasonably seasoned. The prices are what you would expect from an "old-school fancy" restaurant. All in all we had a nice meal, albeit expensive.

My boyfriend and I recently had gone to Urban Tavern for a beverage but decided we were wanting something a little more formal, so we decided to give Normands a try as it is one of those places we were always saying "we need to go and try it out." Well we got there around 9:20 that evening, the waitress brought us some menus and said she would be right back. However it was, I am assuming the owner/manager, who came back and asked us what we would like to order. We asked if we could order a drink first and then decide, he said the kitchen was closing soon so we had to decide, he pointed out a couple options he recommended and took our drink order, very reluctantly. The waitress ended up coming back with our drinks and left, manager came back and we gave him an order for an appetizer. It is very hard to articulate the atmosphere that we were in, I had never felt so un-welcomed in a restaurant in my entire life. We just wanted to have a nice meal, sorry but the kitchen is still open; as well I am not sure what was with the waitress but its like she was afraid of us. I told my better half that I did not want to stay and he said lets go, so for the first time in my life I walked out of a restaurant. Im sure the food is great, although didn't to try, I will not be returning.

Normands has been a favorite with my husband for years. I finally had the privilege of enjoying an amazing dinner here for our 30th wedding anniversary weekend and it did not fail. The service is impeccable with wait staff that are professional and knowledgeable and Norman himself orchestrates the entire evening every night to ensure everything sent out is perfect. I tried Norman's house made pate and I would definitely recommend it even for those that don't normally care for traditional pate. Norman's pate is silky smooth and oh so buttery! The larger quantity of butter in the pate cuts the bitter liver flavour that is normally associated with traditional chicken liver pate and the addition of their house made citrus jam brings the pate to a whole new level. I also ordered the cranberry glazed duck which was absolutely incredible! Crispy skinned and succulent meat combined with the acidic sweetness of the cranberry glaze was incredible. Coming separately in its own copper pot added to the indulgence I felt when eating it. Portions can be large so ask your waiter before ordering full sizes, I miss judged and could barely finish my meal , it became a painful experience but I enjoyed every bite.

The food was excellent. Everything from the starter, to the mains, to the dessert was expertly prepared and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. They provided us a great understanding of the menu options and made helpful suggestions.

Wonderful Wedding Dinner Making a wedding during a pandemic can be challenging and frustrating. When I wanted to host a wedding dinner, Normand's made it easy. His suggestion of Kir Royale for a pre dinner drink was spot on, as was his suggestions for the appetizers as well. He even made mocktails for the youngsters and they were thrilled. After that, everyone ordered an entree from the menu. Normand and his staff handled 29 orders with military precision. The food, as always, was spectacular and the service was stellar. We introduced a few people to wild game for the first time and they were pleasantly surprised as to how tasty it was. I was also pleasantly surprised when the bill came as well. It was a lot less than I expected, even with the drinks! This is why he has been in business for over 30 years. You can always count on me for repeat business and after tonight, you have gained a lot more customers. Thank you to Normand and his staff for making this a memorable evening. Give Normand's a try and you will be very happy you did.

So....I have going to this restaurant for 25 years. I would not frequent a place for 25 years unless it is special. Normand's is special. Every time I go there the service is fantastic. The servers are pros. They are not bothersome but somehow they know when you need them. Normand always comes to say hello. What a warm and welcoming place. I totally recommend their potatoes au gratin and the wild game special. A bit expensive but soooooo worth it for $45. You can eat there for $28 if you order my regular which is the Normand's Petite New York. Super delicious with their mushroom sauce and perfect veggies

Their game dishes are our favourite in all of Edmonton, hands down. We recently ordered take out for a date night over the holidays. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. They even included a little bread basket & mints - a nice little touch from Normand and his staff!

The food is wonderful but the service isn't great. The staff don't appear to care or try to remember you despite the fact that you have raved about the food, brought friends, brought the company staff for 2 parties. And went to ALL the outfits run by Normand's (Glenora B&B, Normand's on Jasper, and Normand's at the Citadel). My last visit was about a month ago and it is my last. In the past, my friends said their unfriendliness probably stems from wanting to leave you alone/ French style, etc. My guest on this occasion was a Caucasian friend, fit and recently retired. Suddenly the service is better than ever before! I am so put off by the whole experience - my friend loves it and I'm upset because of all my previous experiences - including the one that day. They weren't busy but made me wait, then asked me if it's just me, then kind of ignored me till my friend showed up and suddenly, the grumpy waiter is super charming to me and her. And he's always been grumpy in all my visits. You never feel like they try to remember you. Yummy food but the attitude is a whole other matter. Not sure if they just don't like serving younger people, Asians, or large groups or what. I'm not going back.

We went here for our anniversary and our server was also the owner. The food was good but the service was only average. The owner was busy fawning over two attractive single (she mentioned it when they came in) females who came in later. He even took her keys and parked her car for her. Social distancing was not in order here as he stood with his arm around the young lady for a photo and at another point he was leaning on her shoulders for another shot. He would lean in for intimate conversation at their table. So much for Covid. We also mentioned that it was our anniversary which he acknowledged. We've been to many high end restaurants for our anniversary over the years (39) and were never made to feel like it was just another day by the staff. I guess with Normands its bin dere done dat!

We came here on the last day of our Alberta trip. My boyfriend really wanted to try exotic game meat, so I thought I would give Normand's a try. It was Saturday September 18th and it was exceptionally busy. Nonetheless, the service was impeccable. We had a waiter named Glenn, who was attentive and funny. I was very impressed with the service and the food. They had provided complimentary bread, but the butter was infused with cranberry. oh my goodness, so good. I have never had butter like that before but I was impressed.We also ordered the 10oz Bison steak and my hubby got the Wild Boar Bacon, Elk and kangaroo as it was the special for the night. We were blown away! not even gamey tasting at all. It was super flavourful, and the space that went on it paired well with the meats. I couldn't believe that it tasted almost similar to steak just leaner and lighter. definitely one of the best meals, we've had in awhile. My hubby has never been the type of person to post food on social media, but you bet he did with his dinner at Normands! What a great way to spend our last day in Alberta. I would definitely recommend to all my friends and family in Ontario, who may be travelling to Alberta in the future! Classic brunch restaurant. Their hollandaise is home made and you can taste the freshness of the lemon. It is light and flashed before serving. The eggs are cooked perfectly. Nice accompaniments to the meal with delicious hash browns, and I do not do carbs but cannot resist then. Also a fresh, and I mean fresh bowl of mixed fruit and berries. The service is classic French style and very friendly. Cannot wait to go back.

We went here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we entered, and the restaurant itself had an elegant but cozy vibe. Our waiter was very informative and gave helpful suggestions for both food and drinks, and the service was excellent. We both ordered the special, one with wild game and one with seafood, which were both described perfectly and exceeded our expectations. Wild game is not something we'd typically eat, but it was cooked perfectly and very enjoyable. I am quite picky with my seafood as I'm from the coast and have high expectations, and this meal was absolutely delicious! They even made it a point to serve us a special dessert to help us celebrate. This was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had at a restaurant, and it made the night extra special. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Normands to anyone, and will definitely be back.

I like the concept of the venue serving regional food however I was thrown off when the special included kangaroo. Despite that everything tasted great though maybe too much bread. I had the wild mushroom dip as an entrée which said it came with crostini but it was actually sliced baguette. i opted for the special which was wild boar and kangaroo tenderloin with wild boar bacon served on top of a Saskatoon berry sauce with scallop potatoes and veggies. The beetroot was especially good. I had the straight martini for a drink and it was quite strong. Probably could have done with a bit more olive brine. As for the venue itself, the music was on point and not too loud, staff were courteous and polite, and the seats and table setting were nice. One downside was my mother had asked for her steak well done and it was not. Otherwise great experience.

Booked my bday dinner here on a Tuesday night. The restaurant seemed quite busy but we got greeted and seated promptly. The only hiccup was that they sat us at a tiny table right by staircase close to restrooms… a bit offensive for a birthday dinner that was booked 2 weeks ahead of time. I should have requested a window seat or something back then but assumed that giving a nice table was a common courtesy for special occasions bookings made ahead of time. We did ask if we could be moved and they did so within 20 mins or so to a slightly better table facing the kitchen. We decided we won’t let this stop us from having a good time and therefore enjoyed very much the rest of our dinner time. The food was excellent! My duck was absolutely phenomenal! Service was prompt and very friendly. They complemented my dessert which was very sweet. Overall rather good experience! We’ll be back!????

Exellent restaurant. They have a large game menu. Their servings are large and great for sharing. The restaurant is small and popular so make sure you make reservations. What a stroke of luck. Everything about this place is genuine and exceptional. The food, atmosphere, and service. The owner is hands on and a joy to be around. Very welcoming and appreciative of your business. Diverse menu that offers game meat. We have had kangaroo, elk, bison and wild boar. All items are good value for your dollar and perfectly executed. At the end of the evening, Wife's birthday, they took a picture of us with dessert and proceeded to hand us a picture of our special night. Thoughtful touch. Highly recommend.

The customer service was great the menu was pleasantly surprising and the atmosphere was lovely. The cost of food was in line with a place that has this type of cuisine. My hubby ordered the pheasant and I ordered the gaming special which was bison, venison with a crocodile skewer we shared our plates and everything tasted great. We started out with the pate, which was our least favorite of everything but still tasty, we also had a bottle of wine and payed I believe around $200 so it’s not cheap but it is worth it for an occasional setting.

We had brunch at Normand's January 2020. The quality of the food was excellent as always, but our server was rude and unenthusiastic, and when the kitchen forgot one of our table's meals, she promised several times it would be "just a few minutes". After 20 minutes passed we followed up and it appeared she had forgotten and it still wasn't being prepared. The kitchen then threw together an unsatisfactory sandwich and our server was unapologetic and didn't offer to comp the affected guest's bill. Very unusual for Normand's.

Normand's has always been our favourite restaurant for those very special occasions. Normand's is fine dining. Be prepared to spend a bit more but the eclectic selection, food quality and personal attentiveness by Normand and his professional staff is well worth it. The wild game choices are as varied as they are wildly satiating. Wild boar and smoke wild boar bacon and Elk so tender you can cut it with your fork. In a word, excellent. I ordered their special of the night which was 3 different cuts of meat with potatoes and vegetables, my SO ordered their stuffed chicken. Both came out perfect, the meat steaks I had were cooked right and everything tasted excellent. We also asked the waiter for some wine pairing suggestions and he was on point on the wine as well. The atmosphere is intimate, with a little of a cozy decor all around. It's a smaller restaurant so suggest reservations ahead of time as the restaurant did fill up even on a random Wednesday night.

I have had dinner and lunch here on multiple occasions with my girlfriend; being a cook and a fan of classic french cuisine I'm always impressed. The atmosphere at Normand's has me feeling relaxed. It isn't plain and sleek like a lot of modern restaurants but this is where I see it's charm. As for the service, it has always been great. I have been seated by the owner multiple times, & the other wait staff are pleasant; always happy to share any information about the food. Who knew there was such a nice place right here in Edmonton? Note: I can't see how people can leave mediocre reviews about the menu size. For a restaurant to have such a large menu and still provide quality is incredibly impressive to me. A big menu is okay as long as it is something doable by the kitchen staff. Considering my friend had kangaroo and thought it some of the best meat he's ever had, I am definitely impressed.

Very good. Made a reservation very late the night before and was accommodated. All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making for an excellent experience. All food was very good - the crocodile skewers and chocolate mousse stood out the most! The lamb was also excellent, and the server helped me pair it well with an appropriate wine. The bread that preceded the meal was superb, and the butter served with it was unique and tasty (had chives mixed in). Will definitely visit again - would like to try their escargot, carpaccio, and frog legs, and perhaps one of their seafood specialties. Would recommend to anyone!

On of my favorite restaurants I've visited in Edmonton so far. The menu features items of wild game, which they prepare to perfection. This plate was a four meat special which included bison, boar, elk, and wild boar bacon. It's definitely on the pricier side of things but well worth it. I wouldn't think much of it based on outside appearance, but this is made up inside and with the food of course. I'll be revisiting as soon as I go back to Edmonton.

Went there to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was great. I had the wild game special which for the day was caribou and wild boar lion served with a slice of wild boar bacon and a saskatoon reduction sauce. I like my meat done rare while one of my dining companions ordered the same but medium rare. Each of our orders was prepared to the requested temperature. Service was great and Normand came by the table to see how we were doing. I will definitely be back again to try more of the expertly prepared wild game.

I went with the 10 Star Omelette, it tasted okay; nothing really stuck out and it didn't have much of a flavour to it. However, it was a filling meal and the service was good.Delicious and healthy food as usually the case with most Coras. The service is excellent as well and staff are friendly.

Great service, not over bearing but genuine and on point. Attention to detail in the kitchen with good presentation and nice flavours. Entrees are $30-40 which is fair. Only suggestion for them, we received a total of five drink menus, all different, these need to be combined, it was actually a point of laughter as I continued to pass my significant other the multitude of drink menus. It was unfitting to the rest of the polished experience. Will certainly recommend and return.

I started with frog legs. Never had them before. They were good. I had the wild game special- Elk, wild boar and wild boar bacon. All really good but the bacon was awesome. My friend had seafood pasta. Lots of shrimp and scallops. Portion size and taste was really good. They surprised us with a slice of chocolate cake... really good. Make reservations. Cozy place and had great service . Will go again.

We went to this restaurant after having an amazing sample at Taste of Edmonton. Every bite of our dishes was absolutely delicious, and perfect portions - not too small and not overwhelming either. Came here for a late dinner tonight. We were looking for a quiet place with delicious food and we found it! Staff was very friendly, all the food was amazing. We had the mushroom soup, wild meat special and seafood meal. Also the coffee was delicious and the crisp for desert. Really just a top notch place. We will be coming back!

The food and service here are both amazing. We've tried several things on the menu and nothing has ever disappointed. The best wild game in town. A lovely French restaurant that we love to come to when ever we can. Now that we live in Southern AB, this is a special treat when we're in Edmonton. Normands is celebrating 32 years in business and after our dinner last night, its clear why they have been around for so long. The atmosphere and team were great but the food was stellar. We started with the Bison Carpaccio that was melt in your mouth delicious. I had the lobster, scallops and shrimp baked in a divine cream sauce and my husband indulged in the 12 oz new york with peppercorn sauce and both meals were flavorful and perfectly matched with savory sides and a fresh medley of vegetables. We finished our meal off by sharing a slice of chocolate raspberry truffle tort and it was the perfect end to our decadent dinner. We will absolutely be back. Way to go Normands and congratulations on 32 years of service. Top notch all the way!

So worth it. My fiance and I go here for special occasions and always love it. Professional and clean with fantastic food! The owner greets people and is engaged. The staff are great. It is snug but I've really appreciated that it just seems more personal. Parking is a bit of an issue but.... if that's the only thing to complain about it's worth it to go! A lovely friend invited myself and my husband out to dinner at Normand's, and I am glad he did! I can't believe I had never been before. The menu has a lot of wonderful selections on it. Escargot, Frogs Legs and Wild Boar Ribs are available as appetizers. Alaskan King Crab, Veal and Lamb are available for entree`s. We were lucky enough to be able to sample the wild game menu that some of the other reviews were mentioning. I got the Bison and Ostrich platter. The meat was cooked perfectly, just the way I like it. Tender and juicy. My husband had the Wild Boar Ribs (entree) and was raving about how good it was. The owner came around to our table to check on us personally a few times. What a nice touch! Normand's is fine dining in a wonderfully inviting, laid back atmosphere. It would be a great place to celebrate an anniversary or a birthday.

I have been coming here for 20 years whenever I am in Edmonton. Classic French cuisine done the way it should be. Delicate seasoning fresh ingredients (the Arctic Char was unbelievably fresh) and a simple preparation. Break out of the steel and glass mega chains and treat yourself to this place. After 29 years you gotta think they are doing something right...and they are. And yes...there is a Normand...i am sure you will meet him Note: I saw a scathing review here and I can only think that it is some sad joke because none of what was complained about has ever been my experience in the 20 years (mentioned above) of coming here .

I went to this restaraunt for my anniversary and it did not disappoint. First impression: professional staff. They treated us with great manners and happiness as they served us throughout our stay. Second impression: setting is very intimate, with low lighting and tables not to close together. It is a small restaurant, so there was no large, noisy party groups. Music was quiet and classy - no pop rock or rap, just instrumental. The layout and decor felt dated but it did not take away from our experience. Last impression: the food was nothing short of astounding. Our appetizers, entrees, dessert, and drinks were all provided quickly and were scrumptiously hot on arrival. I highly recommend the kangaroo tenderloin and wild boar ribs. Thank you Normands for a wonderful evening in my anniversary!
