You will be able to see the opinions of people who consumed the products of MEAT (Restaurant) around Edmonton area (Canada).
As of day the business has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 and the score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings is practically the top, and it's based on a very high number of scores, so we may say that the valuation is very reliable. If many people have bothered to value when they are pleased with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to set tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Barbecue restaurant.
I ordered 1/2 pound of the brisket for myself and shared a large order of the mac n cheese, beans, and cornbread. The portions were fair and what we ordered was enough for two of us. I enjoyed all the sauces (bourbon, cherry, mustard, and spicy) and found myself rotating through them during the meal. The service and atmosphere was very good - a good sound level to make it a cool spot but not so loud that you cannot have a good conversation. I will definitely consider coming again to try a few other MEATs on the menu.
Great food, the meat was phenomenal, who would've thought a place called meat cooked great meat haha, but regardless their meat were perfectly cooked, good drinks, friendly and kind staff, the barbeque sauces were also delicious I never knew mustard and barbeque sauce would go so well together! Definitely worth the trip downtown to have a nice feast of meat with friends and great barbeque sauces!
Overall very good. Had the fried chicken sandwich which tasted great and would have been perfect if it was just a bit less greasy. The garlic fries disappeared so fast that they must have been awesome.
Arrived at a pretty busy time, expecting a wait, completely understandable since the restaurant is very hyped up. The hostess seemed impolite, but our server made the experience much more pleasant. Delicious pulled pork sandwich. Pork was very juicy and flavourful. The half a rack of ribs was good, dry but flavourful, personally needs the sauces provided on the side. The fries were very crispy, almost burned. Very loud ambiance, constant conversation between guests (not complaining), just making it known for people who are trying to go to a place to communicate with the people they came with, might have to yell over eachother to hear.
We wanted to go to Meat on Saturday. We live in the west end of the city. My wife called during the day to see if we could book any kind of reservation. We were told they could not accommodate this and they would only suggest to 'Join the waitlist' with their app on Yelp. Downloaded the app on both my wife and my phone. Also tried using their website. Every time you would go and hit submit on the app to confirm it would say "Sorry there was a problem, try again later". So we drove all the way down to Whyte Ave. Then they explained it would be of course a 45 min to hour wait. They didn't care about the app problems. They seem to cater only to the Whyte Ave crowd so if your traveling I would not recommend.
Quality of ingredients seemed great, but I just didn't enjoy the food. The sauces all tasted very similar, but the mustard was amazing. The ribs and brisket were good but too salty for me to enjoy. Overall I'd recommend trying it but it isn't for me so I won't be back
My family enjoys this type of flavours and food i not much. They seemed to have enjoyed it
Awesome food! Corn bread, brisket and the Mac and cheese... So good. The mattress potatoes looked heavenly although I have yet to try. Service, atmosphere and taste are all 5 stars. Hope this place never goes out of style.
I had a great experience at Meat. I went on a rainy Friday night and the place was full but we got a spot on the (heated) patio. They had run out of ribs so we ordered pulled pork and brisket, which were both beautifully smoked, tender and delicious. For sides we ordered the cornbread skillet, brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese (all were delicious). For desert we ordered pecan pie (amazing!) and the banana parfait (a bit of a let down honestly...the banana flavour tasted artificial). The service was great and a wonderful experience overall!
Deeeelicious! Tender slow cooked meat and yummy side dishes served in a lively atmosphere. Friendly staff and prompt service.
Great place for food and beverages. They have an amazing menu of beef, chicken or pork ????
Absolutely amazing experience, tasty meats, good service, candle on desert for bday event. Been here few times now and never disappoints. The only regret you will have is the amount of delicious meat you just ingested causing you to question your life decisions and where do you go from here or roll which is more probable.
Expensive, but delicious. Get your fix of fatty and delicious barbecue with some great sides! I especially love the brisket and the mac and cheese. Great for sharing!
The food was osm and great service
Great atmosphere if you are looking for open concept. The smoked chicken is excellent. The cornbread is a feature add on that you must get. I had the pumpkin pie for desert ....another winner. Our server was Sierra and she was on the ball. The parking is tight but this district is mainly walking access anyway so we just parked 3 blocks south. I'll definitely be back.
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. I tried all of their meats except the fried chicken. I found the brisket a bit salty but when paired with their awesome assortment of BBQ sauces, it was just fine. Pulled pork was my favorite. Mac and cheese side was pretty awesome and the Cole slaw was good too. A must for meat lovers.
MEAT has been one of the restaurants we’ve supported most regularly through the pandemic, especially after they launched their own in-house delivery service to help keep their own staff employed. We were originally within their delivery radius during the summer months, but when the snow fell, they had to shrink that radius for efficiency and the safety of their staff driving, which I can fully respect. Rather than call them and complain about this (as indicated by other reviewers was their decision), we took this as an opportunity to leave the house to drive to the restaurant (where they are following all COVID-19 safety precautions diligently), and picked it up ourselves safely. This past year has been hard enough on everyone without needing to take it out on local businesses who—like the team at MEAT—have been doing their very best to keep their teams safe and employed. We’ll be continuing to support them long after this is over too!
WOW! This place is delicious. BE WARNED- you may need to be rolled out once you're done eating! So delicious.
Love this place! nice staff, great food...I just love it
Great food
Went for brunch. Food is definitely delicious and well presented, but service wasn’t great, and it’s very pricey given the portion size. drinks were astronomically priced. Won’t be a regular stop for me.
Great meat, great service, great decor! This is a place you can come to and have unique draft beers while also ordering a perfectly made rack of ribs :) They are ofc known for their beef, pork and chicken meals. Pictured below are the beef brisket sandwich and the full stack of ribs order. The staff is nice and the food comes hella quick!
Went with a few friends for the first time. Was very satisfied. The waiter explained how the menu worked since it was our first time and was very helpful. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The meats were cooked to perfection. The amount of food you receive for the price is pretty good, in my opinion. Will definitely be returning again!
Meal type
We found this place via the show "You Gotta Eat Here" , well worth it. Friendly service and great brisket and burnt ends. I'd eat here anytime. Well Done!
Great place to have your fill of meat. Beef brisket is delicious and the ribs were a dry rub. If you like meat and BBQ’d meat, this is the place to go.
I though there'll be meat all over the place, but I am not disappointed. The food was good still. Them ribs tho, sweet and delicious especially them leftover.
If your a carnivore this is the place for you yummy smoked meats and the garlic fries are bomb
Always such a good experience at Meat! It’s been a while since I took the time to go amidst all weirdness we’ve experienced so far in 2020... Oh! And for the real fan and connaisseur, they have 4 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle!!! ????????????Including the notoriously difficult to find 23yo Pappy Van Winkle. Reasonably priced @ $120/Oz
Ordered the sampler and cornbread for the first time at meat. For someone who doesnt enjoy cornbread, it was amazing. The brisket was.. melt in your mouth. The ribs were beyond amazing. The fried chicken was best I've had in alberta. 10/10
Hosted a summer backyard party for our staff and thought MEAT would be the perfect addition. The staff was very helpful in setting us up with an order to serve 25 people. It was the perfect amount of food, and was absolutely delicious. The meat was fall off the bone tender, and the side dishes were just as good. I would highly recommend MEAT for a great meal with exceptional service!
Ribs were Burned to a crisp, will not be going back.
I think the service was good but the food was dry and very salty.
Dinner
I’ve only had brunch here once but that was enough to give them 5 stars. Wow was it ever delicious! Me and a friend got two different dishes and then split them. I’m not sure I’ve ever been more thrilled with that outcome! Both were equally delicious and filling. I walked about so full and satisfied!
The food was delicious! The service was wonderful. We want to go again!
This restaurant is so overpriced and overrated. I came here with my girlfriend and we ordered the beef brisket which turned out to be as dry as cardboard. The ribs we tried were also extremely dry, as other people have already pointed out. The only things that tasted good were the dipping sauces. Everything else was dry and had no flavour. The portion sizes were also very small, especially considering the fact that our bill cost more than fifty dollars. A total waste of time and money.
The maple ribs were like candy and the brisket was amazing
This place is fun. You order the meat family style and share it among your party. The pulled pork with cherry barbecue sauce is to die for. The service is really good as well.
Build your own breakfast on the weekend is a real delight. And they have a veggie feature which is often really incredible too. One of my favorite relaxed atmosphere dinning joints in Edmonton!
My coworker and I had heard some good things about this place so we thought we'd give it a try. We were greeted by our wonderful server Melissa (Miss). What a doll. The food came fast and our drinks never even got low! Excellent service with a smile, it really made our day.
Delicious food guys!!! You won’t be disappointed!! Great service too!
This place has fantastic energy, the service is great and food is impressive! Totally recommend this place... Even has vegetarian options
April 2021 Patio dining Sunday brunch with my daughter Ordered the beef brisket sandwich and southern grits And coffee beverages Service was great
Fantastic selection of meats and sides. The mac and cheese is delicious, as is the corn bread! Loved the brisket with their different sauces too. Go with a couple people so you can share and try more meats. I found it a little on the pricey side, but don't mind it once in awhile.
Absolutely fantastic! I love food, but this food was wonderful! It was a bit weird to sit at a table with strangers but it ended up being a new and fun experience and our group soon forgot that at the other end of the table was other people. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the experience of eating as well delicious food. My daughter's and I do a monthly girl's night and this will definitely be a place that we will go again.
Good service, tasty food, typical prices for Whyte Ave. Solid choice for brunch.
As the name implies they do meat well. The brisket is delicious and decent value. The other smoked meats are also good and you get a variety of sauces. They do more Than meat and the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese are both awesome sides. Nice vibe and decent drinks here too! Overall, solid spot.
Fantastic food with a great assortment of beer. A very nice selection of sauces to complement the wonderfully smoked brisket and ribs etc. Really recommend the brussel sprouts, goes very well with it all! It was very busy and good vibes, suitable for couples, families and hanging out with friends. Will definitely come back again!
Brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends and so much more ... ????. Love that they don't use much seasoning and just let the smoke flavour sink in. All the meat is cooked to perfection and my favourite part is you can order it by the cooked pound! So if you're a carnivore like me and wanna crush 2 and a half pounds in delicious meat on on a Monday night.. Definitely go to Meat!
Really good bbq!
Delicious food served family style, and nice relaxed atmosphere! Will be coming back! Recommend the Mac and Cheese and brisket!
If what you want is slow cooked BBQ meat with some awesome sauces... I think you'll be happy with Meat. Everything I've had here is very good: pulled pork, brisket, burnt tips... All so good. Their sauces are also fantastic. Garlic fries are good too, but just understand you're spitting garlic fire for the next day or 2.
I had the Pulled Pork sandwich with Mac n' Cheese for lunch and it was insanely delicious! Ordered for takeaway and it helded up great once I got to it. Grab a couple of extra napkins because it is a saucy boy!
just picked the sample platter, the brisket is tender , pulled pork are very salty. Ribs, chicken is a bit dry, . I don't understand how a restaurant can serve food to customer in this condition. Wasted my money and disappointed
The food was amazing, highly recommend the sausage links, pulled pork and the brisket! The service was as good as the food. No pics to share as we ate it all!
The beef brisket sandwich was delicious, and the garlic fries were really good too. The Mac & cheese wasn’t anything special. The “meat” parts of everything were amazing. I tried some other bits from friends and it was all so good.
Loved it, not one bad thing to say. The price was high, we knew this going in. The service was amazing and tipped 50%..It was neat eating outside and the range of meals was great. We had these deep fried mushrooms, I would travel the 2.5 hours to have again. We saw this place featured on a TV show called YOU GOTTA EAT HERE. Drove up from Calgary . My husband loves meat so I wanted to treat him for Father's day. We were both so blown away at how great everything was. My husband had a fruit flavored beer that was a featured one too. He loved it. My suggestion bring a growler to get filled up.
My wife and I really enjoyed their food. Not crazy about the garlic sauce all the places in Edmonton and around their serve with their fries, but the pulled pork and brisket were on point.
Best gorment burgers on Whyte.
Customer WiFi: no Washrooms: yes Power outlets: no Pet friendly: patio area Parking: Street pay parking Food/Drinks: Meat was cooked well, very tender and a good depth of flavour. Not much for sauce or moisture on the meat but the meat itself is not bad in that aspect. There are sauces on the table but most of them are some form of spicy which is unfortunate for those who are a little sensitive to spice but would like some more sauce on their meat. Portion sizes were a little small for the price and it would be nice if they had something like a share of sample platter instead of having to only order one kind of meat. Service: Servers were friendly and slightly joking which was nice since it made the experience a little more fun and relaxing. Not the quickest service but not the slowest either. Atmosphere: Very lively usually pretty full restaurant. Very open feel with lots of energy.
Great food and even better customer service. A coworker and myself on business in Edmonton for the week decided to leave the hotel area and head downtown for a good meal. On the recommendation of trip advisor we were directed to Meat, a bbq smokehouse in the downtown core. I had been once before on another business trip about 2 years ago and the experience was decent overall. This subsequent visit was outstanding. In addition to the well prepared food, our server Melissa Doro was exceptional. A very welcoming and vibrant personality, great direction and recommendations on the menu and consistent check-ins to ensure we had what we needed and that the food was as good as it should be. The brisket was moist and well smoked. The cauliflower was simply delicious. The fried chicken was crisp and tasty. The ribs however were not on par with the rest of the meal. Melissa however had taken note and ensured we received a fresh, not overcooked and delicious replacement which was unexpected but very much appreciated. The finger bowls to clean up following the meal was also a nice and welcoming touch. Melissa felt she had done nothing special and just did what she believed her job entailed. That may be the case but her level of attentiveness and overall customer service is a rare experience these days and made this visit worth the trip downtown. Needless to stay, the next trip to Edmonton will include a visit to Meat for some delicious eats and my new favourite server. Thank you Melissa!
Best place for a Barbecue style Meat in Edmonton.
Great food and location. Customer service is always on point.
Incredible bourbon collection, brisket and mac and cheese. What more could you ask for? I love this place
Amazing meal. I took two people who have never been to Meat for the first time. They loved it. We ordered the beef brisket which was excellent and the ribs. The rub on the ribs was amazing. The garlic fries was suuuuper good. We had the featured vegetable which was the fried green tomatoes. All of us loved the experience and plan on returning in the future.
First time....last time... ribs were so dry and burnt. Couldn't pay me to eat there again. Don't think they've ever bbq'd before. Absolutely disappointing!!
Great sandwiches! Can’t wait until I can come back with my wife :)
Service
Oh man. This place has amazing bbq and such wide variety.
Great value! Huge meals! Fair pricing for portion size. Service is great! Flavours are great! Even the vegetarian burger was amazing! All was soooo delicious!
The meat here is very delicious, I would recommend getting the sampler platter for first timers to get a taste of most of the meat they serve here! It's not on the menu so ask the server for this if they haven't already mentioned it. Highly recommend the pecan pie to finish off the amazing meal.
Loved eating outside with the fire pit. Their beef brisket was really good and generous. The Cauliflower dish was amazing. The garlic fries though were way to salty. That's why I gave it a 4 Star.
Lively place on a Friday night. I was impressed with the hostess that took our number and called with our table while we explored Whyte avenue. I tried their bourbon ceaser and as a ceaser enthusiast I wasn't really into it. We went ahead and split all the highlights of BBQ. They have their signature house made sauces at the table for your enjoyment, and we all seamed to be fond of different flavours. I'd rather have one great sauce smother my bbq meats but to each their own. The place does not feel like a BBQ joint at all, opting for a more contemporary decor. Overall it's a great place for a group and you won't leave hungry
Brisket was so delicious and just melts in your mouth. Staff are amazing and their kindness radiates. I would also like to take a moment regarding the comment made about this restaurant not having vegetarian options- you are eating at a restaurant that is literally called MEAT, I don't know about other peoples opinions on this but if I went to a restaurant called VEGETABLE I definitely would not be complaining there is no MEAT on the menu. Think smarter not harder. To close out I don't know what sauce is on the meats but "die and go to heaven is all I can say"
Get the brisket here! I repeat: BRISKET! I've visited a couple times now and have always enjoyed my time. The sides are plentiful, the meat is delicious, and both the service and ambiance of the place is great! Would highly recommend! (It's also a great place to take your out of town friends to! An Edmonton hit!)
So today got pretty disappointed at Meat. I love going there and have gone multiple times. We went there to bring our new puppy because they advertise they’re a dog friendly place. However, they don’t mention that dogs CAN’T actually be inside of the patio, they have to be chained outside. I wouldn’t mind that but my puppy is small and smart and he was coming inside since the fence spaces were big enough for him to fit in and there was no way I could stop it since he’s very small. I talked to the hostess and she said basically nothing I can do. I was honestly getting my drink standing up outside and we left. Honestly don’t sell you’re a dog friendly place if your dog can’t be inside at all. I’d have gone to another place instead of waiting 30mins for a table. I didn’t like their attitude and won’t come back. Even though as I said before we loved their food but the puppy friendly is a false advertisement.
Tastiest smokes meat in town and great salads too
Meal type
First time here, and it was a rather unique experience. Food was lovely and flavourful, staff treated my husband's allergy seriously, and the food was rather tasty, and oh so juicy, which is a nice treat because it seems a lot of smokehouses in town (some of which are no longer open) believe that smoked should mean somewhat dry. Nope, definitely not a problem here. They have some oh so lovely bottled sodas/pops as well, although it's hard to say whether I like the black cherry or the cream soda more, since both are so absolutely wonderful. Staff are friendly, courteous, and knew the menu well, and even offered a few suggestions to go with the meal. Also... That was one large, and tasty, stack of garlic fries!
The server was amazing and very outgoing they let our dog sit with us outside and the food was amazing
Service
We came in just right before the dinner rush, because some great review from reddit. Waiter kindly explained how the menu works, atmosphere was good and music wasn't loud. We enjoyed the meal although half rack of ribs that we got was a little salty, but the nice pickle offsets it. We r glad that we listened to our waiter's advice to get a piece of bread as well, nicely offset some fattiness and saltiness. Waiter also gave a good advice where 1/2 order of meat and small order of side is good for EACH person, and multiply that for each additional person. Love the dining style where more than one person share a full tray of food that can increase chance of interaction.
Was taken here on a date by my boyfriend and in all 22 years of living in this city I haven't had as good food as I did here. This is incredible BBQ and is a must go-to if you're here visiting. Best in the city that I've had so far. As the name entails it specializes in Meat, smokehouse sharing family-style BBQ to be exact. We ended up ordering a half pound of brisket and the meat specialty that was on for the day - St. Louis Style Ribs, along with two sides: Garlic Fries (definitely get these) and Warm Potato Salad. The meat was perfect in every way, the ribs were falling off the bone and the brisket was tender and juicy. I did not leave disappointed and with a bill totaling $80 for two meat dishes, two sides and two alcoholic drinks (definitely try their bourbon cocktails) and leaving full of really good quality BBQ - I will be back again.
The heartiest food in town! The menu is fairly simple with delicious carnivorous dishes that are slow cooked between 6 and 14 hours to perfection. The 'family style' serving means that all your menu selections come together on one large tray. There are selections of beef, pork and chicken with four sauces (the spicy one is to die for). You won't regret the succulent burnt ends but I suggest giving the pork ribs a miss as they are dry style and weren't to my taste. Seasonal vegetable sides and garlic fries are a must. There are a range of drinks and the staff are friendly. I definitely suggest booking ahead as waits are typically 45 min on busy evenings at peak times. Overall you will spend about $30-$50 per person and be ridiculously full!
Service is always fantastic, food is incredible, and they have a great selection of Bourbon's :)
Food and service is good. The cusine is aimed at the southern BBQ style of the united States. My only complaint is that the wait times are long and the kitchen could be working a bit faster for the type of food they are serving. There's not much preparation or presentation when it comes to a lump of meat so it shouldn't take very long to serve.
Definitely go there if you are in Edmonton. Friendly staff and fast service. Their food is really good. Meat is juicy and tender. Loved the different sauces they have. Alcohol selection is good too.
It’s a heaven for meat lovers which is obvious fact from name itself. I was dining with my chicken lover boyfriend where as I am a vegetarian, I was like they specialize in meat so I guess it’s okay if veg sandwich is not good. But I was in for a surprise, as the Not Meat sandwich is something you might never forget. The iceberg salad was delicious. Garlic fries and Mac and cheese are best sides. And their service and food quantity both are so good that you would leave the restaurant feeling overwhelmed. And if you are a citrus flavour fan like myself then I would suggest grapefruit lemonade. All in all it’s a must have visit on Edmonton billboard.
Came to MEAT tonight for my wife's birthday and it was wonderful. Got seated promptly despite it being packed. Food came out very quick and was fabulous. The brisket and various sauces were nice. I loved the mac and cheese. Brussel sprouts were great. Potato salad was good, but I wouldn't buy it again (I'd get more mac and cheese). I had the lemonade and it was nice. Great place!
Meal type
Food was prepared fine. It's mostly different textures with the same flavour. Ribs in pepper sauce, meatloaf in pepper sauce, rice in pepper sauce, beans in pepper sauce. And the corn bread, while tasty, was very dry. Would do in a pinch, but bang for buck is very much not there. Mashed potatoes were good. Not a place I'd avoid, but not somewhere I'd make plans to go.
Fantastic! Great eats, great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Everything is all of the deliciousness...
Great service and food! Had the smoked chicken sandwich! Tasted great along with the fantastic BBQ sauce selections! If you love BBQ check it out
Once, won't go again. The taste of brisket and ribs didn't meet our expectation. Maybe it's acceptable to put it in a sandwich, but it's definitely not a high-quality barbecue. One good thing is the sauce are good
Meat just might be the best restaurant in Edmonton. It's a great place to go on a nice date or for a relaxed meal - it's also our go-to when we have guests that haven't experienced Edmonton before. We now have a hard time trying more upscale restaurants as we just don't think they can compete with what Meat has to offer. We love this place and I hope it continues to be an Edmonton staple with its great service and amazing food. ♥️
We stumbled on this place in August of 2014. We have never been disappointed by anything we've ever had there. Its a destination spot for us anytime we are near Edmonton.
Best Texas bbq I have ever had!!! THE MEAT IS SO DAMN JUICY
People I've talked to about this place who haven't tried it do not seem to know what they are in for, I was one of them. It's just a bbq joint. It meets all the requirements, played back atmosphere tho it is not unclassy. Simple can be quite elegant. Low prices meet large portions of well seasoned, tender and juicy meats. I did not try the sides on my first visit but my mouth waters knowing the skill and care out into the food I tasted. Bbq joints never last long unless the food is good, this place is gonna be around forever. Our server was friendly and very polite, I can be tricky to balance attentiveness against respecting a customers conversation. Our server pulled it off effortlessly. All other staff we encountered were welcoming and happy to be there. The kicker at this restaurant are the four dipping sauces made by hand in the kitchen. The recipes are perfect and there is always more available. You won't be able to pick a favourite. I had gotten some on my menu, I regret not asking for it added to my doggy bag. I would have privately eaten that part of it. If you haven't eaten here, go. Go now, thusbplace is only going to get busier.
Hands down best smoked brisket in town. Everything on the menu is top shelf. Highest recommendation
Chicken and waffles were so delicious! Best we've ever had!!
The meat is delicious, and the ambiance is cosy. However, the service is awful. The server was racist to me as I am an Asian. She only talked to my husband, and even forgot my order. .
Incredible food, excellent service. Will definitely be back.
One of my favourite places to go for delicious meat and a patio.
Easy to order, friendly staff and great atmosphere. All of the dishes were very salty.
Really good service. Really good food as well. Haven't been here since 2019, so it was nice to be back. This place is great for people on the keto diet. If you really watch your daily carbs, the sauces are a nice touch as well. Recommend the spicy sauce; it's the best. Everything in the picture is good (this is the sampler with pickles and a piece of jerky as add-ons) and I really can't pick a favorite from these. The only downside is this place is popular. We went on a Friday at around 6PM, and had to wait for a table.
The food is OK, I feel they have went downhill over the past couple of years. It is a little over priced for the quality. We recently ordered quite a variety and dined in at the restaurant, unfortunately nothing wowed us. Probably won't go back again :(
The best beef I ever had. We heard a lot about this restaurant and finally made it after 2 attempts. Totally worth it. We had beef brisket, beef bruvette and garlic fries. Absolutely awesome. Plus great atmosphere and super fast service.
Horrible service!!!!! I am trying to support local businesses during pandemic and I tried to order a delivery order online. When I came to checkout, I was told that “I lived outside their delivery zone and would I consider moving closer”. ( Note that we live 14 km/20 min from them). I called them & they really really didn’t care! They do not deal with any delivery service, ie skip-the-dishes. Wellllll ... bottom line: I will never support them again and if I ever hear that they went out of business due to the pandemic, I will not even feel bad. If they will not support their customers, why am I going out of my way to support them ....??
Admittedly came here for brunch so only tasted bacon in terms of meat, but was impressed. The food was really yummy (the hash browns are buttery deliciousness) and pretty decent for the price. The drink menu is literally doubly as large as the food menu for weekend Brunch.
Dinner
Always a great day when you can eat at Meat!
To be honest, me and my husband just ordered takeout from here to support local during covid. My husband used to love this place, and it was my first time eating here. We drove from Sherwood park and were planning on eating in the car since we can’t eat inside. However they didn’t put any napkins or cutlery in our bag. Also the food was a bit less-than-great, as compared to before (according to my husband). For me it was ‘Meh’.
Well first time there, not impressed with the Brisket sandwich for the price. Anyone can dry out some roast beef, shred up a little, put it on a bun (btw, there should never be more bun then beef) a small dab of sauce and a couple pickles. A definite disappointment. Definitely now worth the money spent.
Nice food, good customer service.
John is amazing!! He gives great recommendations and is super funny, has an amazing personality, and takes everything to the next level. He made it a great experience. Food is incredible and the place is very charming and lovely. Definitely ask for John when you come!
MEAT completely blew all my expectations! I went there for the first time and all the staff were so kind. All the selection of meats where curated and smoked with such love and flavour! My personal favourite was the brisket and the pulled pork! MEAT is definitely pricey but is well worth the price if I'm honest!
The beef brisket here was unreal, definitely our new place to dine on whyte when craving meat. Nice staff and great service. Be seeing this place again soon.
I have been to MEAT numerous times and I've never been disappointed. The restaurant has an inviting atmosphere and good esthetic. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is excellent and portion size is well worth the price. I am always happy to go here when it's suggested. They have rotating dishes and drinks so even if you got tired of their juicy smoked brisket, which I don't know how you could, they will have something new for you to try. Even their sides are incredible! For you whiskey drinkers out there, they have a decent selection bourbons, and a rotating option for that as well. This is a long winded review, but I have so many good things to say about this place, I had to jot some of it down. Can't wait until I can go back. ????
This is unquestionably one of the coolest place in the region. Whenever I visit this place I am awfully pleased. They hold their very high level service and the topmost level of dishes they provide. You will be always satisfied with this restaurant. Highly recommended.
Ribs were dry, probably would have tasted better if not so dry. brisket was good. Pork belly was alright, have had way better. Garlic fries were good. Enjoyed the coleslaw. Very loud crowd. Service was average.
Great food and atmosphere...
Kool meat place!
Absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming back. The beans are to die for and the meat in general is so good. Our server was awesome. Oh and I recommend the pickle. So worth the 1$.
Meat is AMAZING! We have been frequenting this restaurant since it first opened and have always been blown away by the service and quality of food. Also the suaces - they're unreal!! The sample platter is epic and the weekend brunch menu is one of our go-to's. We love their chicken and waffles and bennys. Would highly, highly recommend! An Edmonton foodie staple!!!

Great, excellent succulent pieces of meat. Definitely on the pricey side.
Legit made me CRY over some dayum Macaroni and Cheese!!! Tasted like my grandma's! And made me instantly back in my childhood ♡ best food ever ! Definitely top 3 food places I've eaten in my entire life!!! Bravo
Came here for dinner and it did not disappoint! Food was great and service was prompt and friendly. We had the brisket and the burnt ends., delicious! The sides we chose were fries, coleslaw, brussels sprouts & baked beans. Brussels sprouts were my favourite, yum!! Highly recommend ❤️
The chicken and waffles were killer! Succulent and crispy ???????? I would like the waffles a bit bigger but they make up for it with having 2 pieces of chicken. I have to say this is the best chicken I've had in Edmonton (Popeyes doesn't have a chicken leg to stand on). If you poke your fork into the chicken and a squirt of juice shoots across the table, you KNOW it's the truth. Ps. Would love some hot sauce for take out.
Service is top notch, brisket is too salty, waffles are kinda hard and dry and too sweet.
Great food everyone we go. Would have given 5 stars but the service was lacking this visit compared to previous visits
Fantastic lunch. Brisket sandwich with fries
Great food all around
Overall a nice place to visit with a party of people. Price was high for what you ordered... but not really a suprise. Presentation and service was great :) really wish that they would include a sample of the feature meat in on this. Was sad to have a sample of everything but the feature meat. Would make a lot of sense to add a small sample of this on the platter. ==Meat platter== Pulled pork Nice smoked flavour. Not too salty. Garlic fries Tasty fresh. Tad bit on the greasy side. Would have loved to see less oil on the fries. Would just add so much more lift to the meat. Nice sweet after taste. Brisket Rich smokey flavour. Moist and fall apart. Enjoyed the seared seasoning on the outer crust with tender interior. Best part of the platter. Fried chicken. Batter crispy. A little heavy but full of flavour. Would love to see a lighter crispier batter. Chicken moist and perfectly fried. Ribs BBQ A little overcooked but Flavour of the rub was sweet and a nice compliment in contrast to the brisket. The two go nicely as a pair. Roast chicken Lightest flavour in contrast to all the other meats. Found the leg a little on the dry side. Anjouli sausage Very spicy. Heat in stark contrast to the rest of the platter. A little too stark. Mustard sauce. Complex mixture with flavourful spiced accents Spicy sauce. Suprisingly wasn't that spicy. Gentle warm heat and flavour. Cherry sauce. Sweet. Goes better with brisket and pulled pork. Bourbon sauce sweet and full. ==Chicken waffle. == Chicken was same as the fried chicken on the platter. No difference. Waffel was Quite dense and sweet. Would like to see less sweetness in the waffle as the syrup was sweet enough. Density of waffle pairs well with the fried chicken though. == House garden salad == Would definitely reccomend ordering along side all this meat! Really need something fresh and light to cut the meat. Dressing light and the vinaigrette was not overpowering. Really nice to have a finely sprinkled Feta cheese over the salad which didn't soak up the dressing. Would love to see more tomatoes in the salad mix as they really lift the salad with each bite.
Took my wife for brunch and it was her first time there. We both really enjoyed our meals. She had the Breakfast sandwich and I had the Fried chicken and waffles. The server was attentive and friendly and the service was prompt. They are busy on brunch mornings, they open at 11am and tables turn regularly so you should be able to get in without too long a wait. I would just like a larger coffee mug because it is on the smaller side, it keeps running low and I have to catch a server and ask for a refill.
Great, quick and polite service. The server did a good job explaining how the menu works. My wife and I ordered a pound of pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw. The pork was delicious, with just the rigjt amount of smoke and salt. The coleslaw offered a nice crunch to go along with the soft bread and pork. I was not crazy about the mac and cheese. It tasted like the roue in the cream sauce was not cooked out long enough resulting in a slightly pasty texture. My wife however loved it, and would return just for the slaw and the mac n cheese. 40 bucks before taxes left us stuffed, and with enough leftovers to feed us both lunch the next day. We will be back. Please excuse the sub par picture. This is what was left over after we'd both filled our boots.
I always love going to Meat for brunch but this time was particularly good service for me. I ordered the Meat breakfast with sausage and eggs but asked to have the hashbrowns and toast omitted. The server and kitchen staff went out of their way to accommodate my request and even offered to give me a house salad free of charge instead. I would have been willing to pay extra as is annoying but common at other restaurants. The fact that Meat was willing to provide this higher level of service for their customers will stick out in my mind when I choose a brunch restaurant again. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience today.
A bit overrated. The pulled pork and ribs were way way over salted. Also the ribs were burnt a bit —- not too impressed for what came out to about 30$ a person. Beef brisket was the only good meat that I had tried - it was seasoned properly.
The meat portions are very well done and the sauces which I think are made in house are delicious.
Highly recommend this place. The whole menu is amazing. Would suggest the ribs, brisket and the Mac and cheese. The BBQ sauce selections are great. Downside they do not take reservations.
Meat is amazing! They have such good food and customer service! My go to is the mac&cheese and ribs!! They’ve also got really great drinks, which I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of. My go to drink is a Ceasar made with vodka ????
nice food
We recently went to MEAT for brunch, outside on the patio to enjoy the sunshine. The food at MEAT never disappoints - but try to leave some room for dessert! Also, try a pickle shooter with your bourbon, I highly recommend!
Took my friend here for her birthday. Because this is where she wanted to go. We ordered the meat platter for 2, excellent, tasty, flavorful. And a good portion as well, we were able to take some home. Our sides were coleslaw, brussel sprouts, and garlic fries. The brussels were amazing. We started outside under a heat lamp and were roasting. So we moved away from the heat... then the temp dropped and it started to rain... so then we moved inside We got a whiskey flight to share. 30$ for 3 shots less than one ounce each, seems a bit pricey. Nicole was our server. She was pleasant. We ordered mac and cheese as well, which never arrived at the table, however we did get charged for it. Servers please check your Bill's to make sure they are correct before passing them out to your patron's. We shouldn't have to do your work for you. That's why you get tipped.
Very good food and great service. The ribs were especially excellent. We stayed for a long time after we were finished eating and our waiter didn't rush us at all and kept refilling our waters. Very nice experience.
Amazing evertimes I come to eat. Chicken and ribs are epic . And love the brussel sprouts
Food is always fantastic, and the staff are always super friendly and nice. ????
Our waitress was excellent and the food was decent. Ive ate here about 5 times now and for some reason I always find the food isnt very hot. It is like it premade and sitting for awhile.... Id give this place 5 starts if the food was hot and fresher tasting. Maybe i just go at the wrong times of day or need to ask for hot food. Again, our waitress was exceptional. Very nice and super personable. We really liked her.
It's literally the best restaurant on planet earth. If you have a bad experience here then it's you who is the problem
Great BBQ. Family style servings. Large portions Mac and cheese, corn bread, and coleslaw all were awesome. Had the meat sampler, I recommend this, the bbq chicken is the best I have had in a long time. Servers were great, fast service and kept checking in on our group of 6. Good local beers. 4 different sauces on the table all 4 very good. Pecan pie and ice cream for dessert. Highly recommend this place.
I've been here several times and the food is always great and consistent. I was a bit confused about trying to order the sampler platter which has always been a great option when with a group. From what our server described, you really just order and pay for each item which is not what I recall but we still did. Service could have been a bit better but the food is amazing nonetheless.
Absolutely and undoubtedly a fantastic, modern, southern style restaurant for meat lovers. In addition to it, Shaney made sure not details were overlooked to make our experience enjoyable. We will definitely go back!
Insanely overpriced for what I got. Garlic fries were floppy and the garlic only comes from a dip that is not tastey. The ''half rack'' was actually only a quarter rack (based on all the racks I've ever purchased).
All hype! We were looking forward to trying this place after hearing good reviews. We were so disappointed! Growing up spending time in the south, this food doesn't even come close to measuring up. The meat was dry and tough and everything was bland. Note to the chef...spice doesn't equal flavour. Even the sides were not worth the visit. There is far better to be had in Edmonton if you are looking for good bbq. Hive this place the slip.
One of my favorite restaurants in town. The meat platter is our go to and most of their sides are delicious. Pre covid, this was a great place to with a group of friends for a family style meal and hopefully it will be again soon.
Never lets me down. Delicious meat ... can't wait to go again!
Food is good. They really need to get more cloth hangers or get those chairs where you can put your winter jacket on the back. Waiting time is within 30 mins on Saturday night
Okay, before beginning my review, I got to admit that I am no connoisseur of smoked meat or any meat in general. And though having eaten in quite many 'famous' smoked meat restaurants in different cities and places, I have never been quite blown away by the taste and ambiance of a restaurant. On a business trip to Edmonton, I was recommended of this restaurant by a friend. And boy, I am not disappointed at all. I ordered beef brisket and garlic fries along with pickle. I must say that the meat was delicious, juicy and flavourful. Top it up with the assortment of homemade sauce, the taste is amazing. Loved the spicy and bourbon sauce. And to add to the wonderful experience, the server was very enthusiastic, helpful and friendly. It feels nice when the servers believe and know about the product they are selling. The ambiance is cosy and welcoming. Only negative feedback would be that the fries are a tad bit more salty for my taste. I don't consume much salt in my food, so that might have be just me. Anyway, this place is highly recommended if you want to go to a nice smoked meat restaurant in Edmonton. Will definitely go again if I am in the city again.
Food and drinks were amazing!! Staff was very friendly and welcoming, even at the end of the night :)
Amazing smoked meat with an amazing quality you can't find anywhere else in Edmonton! I bring everyone of my guests here to have a delicious meat centered meal! I always recommend the garlic fries and the macaroni and cheese as sides!
6 of us went with one of us being a repeat customer. The food is not cheap, but it was great. The pulled pork comes dry and you add sauce, the brisket was and moist, with the spicy chicken having a bite. Worked out to about $45 per person.
I have been here several times for brunch and once for dinner. I must say that I am a really big fan. I've never had a problem with wait times for seating or food. Everything comes in hot and ready and the service is always a pleasurable experience. If you're looking for a fine drink, have a ceasar. Otherwise, prepare your body for the meat. There was only one time I was disappointed with the ribs - unfortunately they were dry and overcooked - but other than that, the meat has always been prepared well. Delicious, quality cuts, and a much lower-budget alternative vs going somewhere for unlimited meat. The meat platter is also more than plenty to share with at least 2 or 3 others... and that's on an empty stomach. The pickle is also always necessary. Don't be fooled, it's a big pickle, although it's just one. Have a bite between meat pieces. It's a good way to clean your palette and re-discover the meat juices. Lastly, come with good company and be prepared to potentially share a table with some strangers. That's just the kind of atmosphere they've built, and it's very cool.
I adore this restaurant. Every server I’ve had has made me feel welcome and they always give great recommendations. I can come here alone and not feel awkward! On top of that the food is one of my absolute favourites in Edmonton. Thanks MEAT!!!
Service
I had way better meat than this place. I'm serious. I am native, but my money is just as good as anyone else. I felt like I was served left overs. I felt let down. This is why I don't go out to nice places because I always get treated like I don't matter as a customer just like anyone else. I even tipped. Not going back to this place again. The ribs were do hard and dry with barely any meat. The rest of the meat looked like they were dry and tasted so awful. Anyone's that's just my experience.
Love the set up and their menu is amazing their brunch and dinner..
Great portion for a great price
Love Meat!!! This is my go-to brunch spot, the beef brisket benny and churro waffles are amazing. The staff are always friendly with great service, I've been coming here for 5 years now and have never had a bad experience.
Pulled pork was amazing, loved the different BBQ sauces. Cydney was very friendly and can take a full order and remember everything perfectly. It was impressive.
My buddy and I shared the sampler platter. The fried chicken was fantastic, and smoked chicken very moist and well seasoned. Pulled pork was also tasty. Brisket and pork ribs seemed dry, but we'll smoked, indicating that the cuts were over-trimmed before smoking. Sauces were adequate. Feature molten lava cake was sent back as it had no lava, and turned out to be just dry chocolate cake. Portions of sides were large and flavourful, with beans, garlic fries and cornbread enjoyed by all. Brussel sprouts were nicely prepared, but quite salty.
Good service, nice spaced patio. Brussel sprouts to die for, pulled pork was really good, beef brisket ends not so great, not what I was looking for. But overall would definitely eat here again.
I came here for my bachelor party, and let me just say that this was one of the best eating experiences I have ever had. Fast, kind service, food was quick and delicious. My entire party was so satisfied after the first platter, we immediately ordered another. For the price? Worth it. Will definitely be back again!
Pretty great place to go overall. Food is always great in the atmosphere, especially in the summer, when you can sit on the patio and enjoy dinner and a show - because there’s always something to see on Whyte Avenue. The pulled pork is one of my favorites, along with the mac & cheese! ????
Great vibrant spot for a group to share a meal. Amazing customer service! A bit pricey but the meat and the sauces are very delicious, along with the amazing wine and cocktail selection. Will definitely recommend the sausage, as well as the garlic fries! Delicious brisket sandwich although the brisket was a bit salty. They also have a vegetarian option.
Excellent brisket, sausage, smoked chicken, fried chicken, ribs and pulled pork. Perfect bourbon and original house made BBQ sauces. Quality service and atmosphere. BBQ at its best. Thanks Faye and Chef! See you again soon.
Excellent service!!! Great food, we spent 200 dollars and worth every penny. Our server was Andrew and he made our first experience in Meat very great. We will definitely be coming back, great taste, great atmosphere, and great layout of building! ~ a very happy customer
Went for lunch with a friend. First time I was there, the food was excellent. Melissa, our waitress made the experience even better.
Honestly, it was all pretty bad. I ordered take out so there is that element but the fries were obviously old - limp and soggy. There was quite a big piece of bone in my chicken sandwich. I was really excited for the brisket as I used to work in a restaurant that took a lot of care with it, but this was very sub par. The cuts were primarily dry and the fatty parts were greasy. No real flavor to it. I had to dress it up with sauce which you shouldn't even have to do with brisket. Just not attended to or cared for and by the taste of it was out all day. The spicy chicken Sandwich was the most edible but I would not return for it. Very disappointing meal overall and a let down of a rare event ordering out. I really wanted to like this place but there is no getting around how bland and old the food tasted. Wouldn't recommend.
The pulled pork sandwich was brain meltingly good. The parmesan garlic fries are terrific. Service was fantastic and friendly. I will definitely be back.
Best eatery joint in town for fresh spicy meat. They change their menu from time to time to keep it interesting and fresh. Portions are huge and you never walk out of here hungry. 5 stars
So good, great staff, will be back again
Great place for meats. The cornbread skillet is also freaky good.
Absolutely perfect. We picked up the brisket Sammy, burnt ends, pulled pork, chicken and waffles was a perfect size for our 4-3 year olds to split. And the desserts were to die for. We took it as a picnic to the riverside and had all the to go items. Thank you, We will back.
First time being there we ordered the ribs and garlic fries. It was absolutely delicious ????
Thank you Melissa for an amazing experience!! Best server I've ever had <3 Marc Anyssa and Josh
For those seeking meat coma gratification. This is the place to be.
Had a great time at this place! Food is mostly great, I find the meats on the salty side but drenching it in their yummy sauces helps a lot! The jalapeno caesar salad was so good! I would also order the pulled pork over the beef brisket which was a little dry to my taste. The staff were polite and friendly, would come back again for sure!
Great food great service.
Heaven for meat lovers, this restaurant does not disappoint when it comes to slow cooked meat. The sauces are key, and the BBQ beef burnt ends are a must.
What an amazing experience! My job allows me to consistently travel and try new food experiences and boy did this one satisfy! Recommended by a few co-worker I went on a day off. The restaurant was packed but still had room for a single seater. I had the brisket sandwich and could of had 2! The meat was flavorful and juicy and the assortment of sauces provided really added an extra element to the meal. Special shout out to the bun used in the sandwich as it was probably one of the best buns I have had in awhile. Very fresh and complimented the meat beautifully. Would recommend this to everyone!
Love this place! The food is always so good. Quality meat (the beef brisket is my personal favorite), great sides (even the Mac and cheese is worth getting) and delicious vegetable sides. Everytime I've gone the service is also very friendly and inviting. Really cool atmosphere as well. A definite must visit!
Try absolutely everything, you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. It’s a great place to go to with a group of your friends or family, staff is always super friendly and all of the meat and side selections are delicious.
Very good food,very polite staff
Amazing food and great service.
Went for lunch! Lovely menu selection and the fried chicken is delicious!
Their beans were great. The meat was pretty good, but a bit underwhelming.
Great food, insane bourbon selection at a great price.
Their name says it all -- like meat? Gotta try MEAT. This is a no gimmicks, non-vegan, straight shooter one-stop-meat-shop to suit all your carnivorous needs. Excellent, excellent show stoppers like the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Also complemented excellently by very good sides such as the mac & cheese and garlic fries. Come with your wallet ready because you're going to want to spend a premium to get the premium. Best enjoyed with a group where you can order lots, sample everything, and not feel too guilty about your bill at the end!
Great spot for a meal. Whether you're with ten friends or one, they have a few single person dishes, but most of their menu is ordering by the half pound. The majority of their menu is simple Meats done to perfection. They don't add a lot of seasoning letting you enjoy the Meats in their perfect form. There are 3 BBQ sauces that are made in house to choose from. Great place to grab a bite. The vast majority of their food is gluten free.
This is amazing food. Period. Although it is a bit pricey, the quality is amazing. Make sure to try their brisket, it is crave worthy. In addition to their food, they have very good cocktails. Make sure to give yourself time to wait as it is always busy. But like I said, it is worth the wait!!
Amazing service and excellent friendly staff!!
Amazing staff, a text and wait system for the patio which was ideal for wandering whyte ave. The brisket, lousiana hot chicken and sausage were excellent, not greasy and lots of flavour. The 4 sauces were tasty. The drink menu was great with a wide selection of bourbons, cocktails, beers and non alcoholic choices.
Great dining experience, very clean team with constant good mood, this spot knows how to treat their patrons as there was never a dull moment. Meals were a delight, portions were reasonable. If you don't like BBQ then I feel sorry for you.
I had the brisket sandwich and fries. Fries are ridiculously good. Sandwich was a little dry but still very good. Cornbread was really good. Will definitely go here again. The staff were beyond friendly I really enjoyed trying this place …
We ordered pizza and wings. The pizza was good. The crust is great. It would be better if they cooked the cheese to the edge. The wings were not average hot wings. They had more of a kick which was great. It's a definite that we will be back again.
Best Brisket ever
Food was amazing, the brisket was great and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The house made BBQ sauces were awesome and a great compliment to the wonderful flavors of the meats. Mac and cheese was delicious and the noodles cooked well. The garlic fries were good but not the greatest. The pickle was giant and awesome. Crunchy and tangy. Place was busy, and you have to sit beside other guests. But a good atmosphere for a BBQ house.
Amazing first experience at MEAT. The Mac and cheese is so delicious and can be eaten as a main course it’s that good. Paired with the amazing sauces they have on the side it was great. The service is excellent, friendly and fast. I recommend taking a friend here to dine in because the lighting is gorgeous. From a recommendation from a friend, this is a Whyte avec spot you can’t miss out on!
Went here on a Saturday afternoon & unfortunately they only had the Brunch menu on offer. It’s a real pity because the last time I was here I got hooked on their smoked brisket. Nevertheless, the pulled pork sandwich with fries was really good. Love the vibe & the service here. Will definitely come back for sure!
Incredible BBQ. Who didn’t rank this a 5 star?
They forgot my order - we came In a group of 6 and it wasn't horribly busy. But this isn't the reason for my 3 star review. The food was okay, nothing the write home about, the hash browns and fries were great, the hollandaise sauce lacked flavour tasted like butter, they also didn't ask how we liked our eggs for the bennies. For the price the food I sort of expected more for a brunch meal. I do have to admit - I loved that they had their to-go boxes were made of paper and not styrofoam or plastic.
Great smoked meat and sides!!
Food is amazing, staff was helpful and prompt. Highly recommended and will be back next time I am in Edmonton.
If you live in Edmonton and you haven't been here yet you aren't doing it right! Everything here was amazing. Excellent brisket, pulled chicken, and ribs. The warm potato salad and mac and cheese are to die for! Also loved the 4 barbecue sauces to try with your meat. Cherry was my fave. Didn't try the dessert but it looked delicious. Have to love a restaurant that has $1 pickles! It has nice decor inside and a good vibe. The uniforms for employees are stripes or polka dots with denim. How awesome is that? Also, very Instagramable. Two thumbs up!
Did not have potatoes that day we went. The brisket was good. The beef ribs were ok as well.
Came to this restaurant twice. The meat and the vegetables served here were very salty (especially the vegetables). Not a healthy nor a yummy choice. This place mixes its own sauces, but who doesn't have a special recipe? Don't get it why it is so busy... Didn't take proper photos of the food or the room. It feels like a food court in there except the tables are wooden.
The place offers a fantastic range of fresh food. I liked dining here. The employees are always super friendly, rates are convenient and the place is always clean.
My friends and I go here fairly regularly and love the food. The rotating specials are really great, and we like how Meat encourages you to order a bunch of stuff to share family-style. It lets everyone pick exactly the amount of food they're craving. While obviously the highlight here is the meat, the sides are equally delicious. The cornbread is a highlight, but we also really enjoy the garlic fries and ordering giant pickles to add a fresh crunch. Dessert options are also nice, as are the bourbon-based cocktails.
Excellent food. The meats and sides (Mac & Cheese especially) are always good. Nice to be able to choose how much BBQ sauce you add to everything. Can be quite busy at peak times.
Solid, friendly place. Super casual. Had the half ribs, and brussel sprouts. Ribs were good, Brussels were great.
Wholesome food with kind and knowledgeable servers.
Service was great. Meats were good. Restroom is water closet style and well kept. Front entry they had to move a chair when a wheelchair needed to enter, bit they have two people watching the door so that went smoothly. 4 in house sauces were good. Spicy and cherry were my favourites. My one criticism is the the meat was a bit dry.
Amazing food we had a wonderful time here with the family.
the buffalo cauliflower veggie burger was pretty good, but the blue cheese dressing was a little too strong. there was too much dill in the potato salad, but i liked the huge chunks of potato in it! also really really loved their garlic fries, which had a deliciously strong garlic flavor. staff were kind and the service was efficient. :-)
If it hadn't been for my cousin, I'd probably have only glanced at this place from down the road but now, I'm a properly converted carnivore who wont keep their mouth shut about this place! Tasty and satisfying aren't a good enough description to do it justice and the Rosemary peach tea compliments everything so well. I'll be coming back to this restaurant many times in the future.
Really good food! Also great service -- we had a server called Annie who was very sincere and kind, and helped us out with picking the best delicacies. Great place!
Great place to get your "meat" fix :-) We missed out on the brisket so I cannot rate that but everything else was great. Sausage, pulled pork, burned ends, pork belly, ribs, garlic fries and fried chicken. Everything was awesome except for the fried chicken. I thought the breading was too thick and tasted bland. But its nothing you cannot fix with one of their delicious sauces. Cherry, bourbon, mustard and spicy were the choices. The best ones were the Cherry and Bourbon, just delicious and accompanied the meats well. Garlic fries were supper delicious as well. Area of the restaurant was well lit, staff was friendly and service was fast and efficient. They have great selection of brews amd sides for your BBQ as well. No pop, which surprised us a little but, large selection of beer fixed that. Prices are on the average to higher range. Select with caution especially if you come starving haha, you might get a bigger bill if you let your belly do the choosing. I had plenty of food and plenty of leftovers that lasted me for couple of lunches. Also their pecan pie was delicious with the caramel sauce and ice cream. I could eat that all day long. I will come for for sure next time im in Edmonton.
Very hipster vibe, good food. Rub on ribs WAY better than drown in sauces. Get the brisquette on sour dough. Lynchburg lemonade was good.
Wonderful place, loved it. The food was amazing and the servers was very friendly and wonderful. I highly recommend eating here. Thank you again, can't wait to come back soon
I really enjoyed my meal. The restaurant was nicely decorated and my server was excellent. We ordered the sharing platter with extra ribs and brisket. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw - both were so good!! We were a party of 5 and we had lots to take home. It was 200 for 5 people including 4 alcoholic beverages.
Doing an amazing job and making delicious food as always. Live outside the delivery zone but happy to pick up.
The services here we not bad, the waiters seemed not as friendly as other places. The Mac n cheese was delicious, the waffles & chicken was okay but the French fries and the pulled pork sandwich were great !
Can't describe how amazing the sample platter was! Smoked pulled pork, best I've ever had. Smoked chicken, most moist and amazing texture in a chicken ever. Home made BBQ sauces at the table, all were amazing! They put a lot of care into every dish including sides. Glad I came 10min before they opened because the lineup was deep and restaurant was filled within moments of doors open.
A great dining experience, not a place for vegans. The tray full of samplers was filling enough, add some side dishes and you will walk away full. We went there with a group of eleven just before 530 and was seated right away, but after 600 the place fills up fast. The service was quick and the servers were very friendly, a shout out to Natasha who was our server. Highly recommend this place.
We went at a peak hour on a peak day. Had to wait quite a while but we went there expecting that. We were lucky that it was raining out so the patio was closed for food.. bet we were able to have some Moscow Mules to start the night and enjoy the evening until a table opened up for a Meat Diner. Everything we sampled was awesome. We got 1lb and three 0.5 lbs Meats and 4 small sides and our group of 4 was pleasantly full. Everything was so tasty. Our top pics were the brisket / Pulled Pork / beans with meat and the corn bread. Oh and the Garlic Fries where top notch as well. We will be back and encourage our friends/family to go.
Picked up our dinner tonight. Staff was super friendly and really helpful. We had the brisket, fried chicken and garlic fries. All were awesome. Can’t wait to be able to do in house dining again. It’s been too long since we had Meat!! Won’t make that mistake again. Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you.
This is an absolutely amazing place for lunch. Make sure to order a sampler you get the best of everything then. One of my three most favourite restaurants in Edmonton. Also everything is done really well, and has great portion sizes.
Love the sausage and potato salad
I visited "Meat" restaurant with a few work colleagues while visiting Edmonton. It's got a whole Texas-barbeque thing going on with various smoked meat options and Southern sides. The food was really good. Service was ok. It's located in a fun/trendy area so you should walk around the surrounding streets afterwards and check out some of the shops after your meal.
Amazing food, a bit pricey. Great staff and dog friendly
Best Southern BBQ ever. Make sure you arrive at the time they start serving to get the freshest cuts of their delicious brisket
Meal type
Delicious food that came out quickly! The service was excellent and the choices were all amazing. One recommendation is adding yourself to their online cue when you get close to the restaurant as they are often really busy!
Amazing food and service! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and a relaxing chill atmosphere.
Amazing! Food is always spectacular. Had the sample platter an cornbread to share and make sure to order a pickle! Servers and hosts are always great too!
We arrived at this spot for lunch. we heard about this place from quite a few people. Well, it was a winning. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we had an excellent feeling. The food was just great. We loved this restaurant a lot and we will visit this place again. We recommend this place to all.
All time favorite . The best brief brisket. And the corn bread is a pure bliss .
This restaurant is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. when I want to go to a superb dinner, this restaurant comes straightaway to my mind. splendid and many types of food and a large list of dishes.trained staff, and nice spirit. Also, the tariff is fair. I recommend this restaurant with no doubt.
Grea food and service
Food wasn't the greatest and was cold. Has potential though
We were pleased with the reception and service. We were very pleased with the quality and selection of drinks available. And we were also very pleased with the quality of the food that we received. Everything was delicious. I especially appreciate the great value for the dollar that this restaurant provides. We felt like we really 'got our money's worth' and that added to an overall excellent experience that causes us to want to return.
MEAT BRUNCH REVIEW MEAT really delivers with the best variety of smoked and fried meats that I have ever tasted outside my fathers smoke shack. Excellent variety of whiskys and cocktails. Great house made bbq sauces at each table. I look forward to returning and exploring their menu further.
Very clean and simple... Food was great and filling ????
The restaurant is very clean. I appreciated that as soon as I walked in. The food is... MEAT! We had the Meat platter which has some of everything. It was delicious. We also had the garlic fried which were good and the cornbread skillet that was fantastic. It was a really heavy meal though. I don't recommend if you are going out afterwards.
Superlatives do not exist to describe the utter perfection of Meat. First, the ambience: I love the family-style seating that pays homage to old-school barbecue restaurants in the American South. The staff? Some of the greatest hosts, chefs and serving personnel in the business. And the food: good lord is it fantastic! Meat is one of the best restaurants in Edmonton, bar none. It is to carnivores what "The Clever Rabbit" is to vegans!
For a place specializing in meat the cherry chili ribs were quite dry. The sauce was quite tasty. The garlic fries were soggy, not as crisp as they should have been. Disappointing. .
My go to when back in YEG.
That's a good place to eat anytime I'm near by I stop there, never disappointed always good and fresh, Brisket is my Favorite!
Absolutely amazing place! Great place for "meat" lovers and portioning is great for sharing. Ordered a sampler to split between 3 people and there was enough food for leftovers ☺️
As a veggie, this is one of my fave restaurants. The sides. It's alllll about the sides.
Everything is soo good! Great beer, liquor selections. Kid friendly as well.
Here come the meat sweats! So worth it though!! This place is a must try. Brisket - good. Ribs - good. Mac and cheese - so good! Corn bread is to die for! Why are still reading this? Go already!
It's exactly what you think it is. A whole of good meat with good sides and amazing service. Our server was able to remember our super large order without writing it down and was very nice and helpful. Will definitely go back again. The wait is well worth the food and great atmosphere
It should be criminal how good their brisket is. It's the only craving I've had since being pregnant!!
There's nothing better than walking down Whyte ave and smelling that smoked brisket coming from MEAT. Great service and even better food. LOVE the Meat Ceasar. . Bourbon. it's a game changer.
The food was good, chicken and sausage were great. The brisket was a bit dry . The service was great and it felt very covid safe.
Lacklustre is the word that comes to my mind when I think of Meat. I'm a big fan of pulled pork and when it came out I was more than just disappointed. It was dry and flavorless and no amount of BBQ sauce could bring it to life. The garlic fries were uneventful. I enjoyed their mustard BBQ sauce and their brisket but aside from that I wouldn't go back. Nothing wowed me. Highlight: the waiter, Jordyn or Jorden or something like that. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and honest.
Specialized Stair and Rail hosted their company Christmas party at Meat. We were nothing sort of impressed. The service, the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and drinks were all fantastic. Hosting this party at Meat made for a stress free event to plan and a fun and memorable event for our staff. Thanks for creating a great space for us and accommodating a large group.
This place is spectacular. We live in Calgary and we come here every time we come to town. The flavours are amazing, your palate will be thanking you after coming here! The service is always friendly and fast. They have a small patio which can get pretty busy quickly! The location is ideal when checking out the rest of the city!
Recently celebrated a family event here food and service was outstanding. Highly recommended
Amazing atmosphere and very attentive service. The food was fresh and delightful. Will absolutely recommend this spot to friends and family. Affordable rates and big meals. Great work.
Have enjoyed Meat multiple times in the past. Polite waitstaff, and very good food for reasonable prices. The pork belly is memorable. The Meat caesar with bourbon is excellent - definitely worth trying! Will visit again!
Great service and great food. Generous portions and yummy desserts. They had the Burnt Brisket Ends as a special, and they were by far the highlight of the night. Highly recommended.
Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. If you don't get the brisket you are a fool. The house sauces are all great, but the meat is so fantastic you may not even touch it.
If you're on the thirsty side already, going to MEAT will make you even more thirsty! I tried a meat platter last night with a few friends, and boy oh boy, was it ever savoury! The brisket was tender and the chicken was juicy. The sausage was delicatable and the fries were scrumptious. Usually the place is packed with people and the energy is bustling but the staff are extremely helpful and positive. Overall, a fantastic place to spend an evening, dining out with a group.
Great service . You get what you pay for. Highly recommend.
Always had a great experience here! Food is great, service has always been lovely, and it's one of few places in the area that doesn't have an insanely long wait time on the weekends/around brunch time.
I really like the food and their special sauce they make.
One of my absolute favourite places to eat. Amazing service, great beer selection, cool specials and obviously the food is amazing. Gets busy after 6 so plan to get there a bit earlier to get seated faster.
Been here a few times and it’s always a great experience! Great food great people!
We got the corn bread skillet, coleslaw, beef brisket, and half a chicken. The corn bread was the best I had in Edmonton. The beef and the chicken were very good. My friend had an iced tea and that was good as well. The bbq sauces were excellent specially the Bourbon one. The service was good and fast. This place is highly recommended.
Excellent breakfast. Very nice waitress. Cool 1960s sort of look. Will be back for dinner!
Meat has been our go to restaurant for years now. We live in Sherwood park and nothing else compares. Great food, amazing service and huge portions. Highly recommend
Was a good place to eat. Service was good, all staff were friendly and helpful.
Went here the other night. And split the meat platter. Was terrific we also had the potatoe fritters. They to were also very good. The staff was friendly knowledgeable and attentive. They have a great selection of beers on tap and bottles aswell. I must say, walking into the restaurant from the street the smoke smell is unbelievable so tasty. All the food was great. We both felt that the fried chicken was lacking a bit. Everything else made up for thou. I felt the presentation for a $65 platter was a bit lacking. I would come back to try some other items on the menu. Overall good experience
We have been eating at Meat for years, the food is always delicious and we are always happy to bring friends and family for dinner. It’s worth the drive into the city for a visit or for pick up.
Personally, I didn't like this place. It's a very unoriginal name, even though I understand they primarily serve meat there. The deals in which you can get a side order included with your food seems to apply to certain dishes. Otherwise you have to add on a side dish. And why is it that I can get a side dish of fries or coleslaw but not mixed vegetables unless I want a large plate? The chicken I had was okay, it was moist but it didn't taste like anything special. The fries I had had some weird, sticky, garlic sauce already on it which was disappointing since I really like fries, but this ruined the taste in my opinion. The atmosphere was very loud and my friends and I were seated right next to the door so there was a constant draft which was unpleasant for me. The pricing wasn't that great either. I don't think I would go here again in future.
Meal type
Now, I normally don’t write reviews for restaurants. I often find that even if the food is good, it’s not really worth my time. This restaurant. This restaurant is an exception. The only way I can describe the meal I had here was quasi-religious. I am a different person now than I was before. The burnt ends have literally changed my perspective on life. The cornbread was unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. Please, please come to meat. Try the burnt ends, try the cornbread. You will be changed.
The service was fast and friendly. Food is delicious as always. I always recommend the mac and cheese! The server recommended mashed potato fritters with whipped sour cream, definitely try it if you get the chance!! They were crispy on the outside, but smooth in the inside.
I’ve been going to Meat since they’ve opened, and they consistently have fantastic food and service. From the hostesses to the bartenders, chefs, porters and servers, they’re all so friendly and outgoing. The food is even better than the service. I love how the specials are always changing and they’re always coming up with something new and creative. I highly recommend the watermelon and apple salad while it’s still on the menu. The burnt ends are also phenomenal.
Dine in
Great selection of meat - best served family style, so you can try a wide selection. Either that or bring a family sized appetite! The food is delicious, so you won't want to stop! Service had always been good as well and the wait can be a little long if you come later on a Saturday. Bourbon cocktails are delicious as well - I would highly recommend the brisket old fashioned (no actual meat in it - my understanding is the Bourbon is soaked with the brisket so to give it a richer more dynamic flavour - which it does really well).
Its super busy here 5pm on a weekends feels like 7pm dinner rush! The place itself is not the best fancy restaurant but the food quality ???????? and taste is more important than any other things!! Brisket must have, ribs must have! Pulled pork well try other alternatives they have other items on the menu, try to get the platter even if the server says that its for 3-4 persons. There was only 2 of us and we ended paying the platter size even if we didn’t ordered it. The Pecan Pie with vanilla ice cream is home made and also one of the best I’ve ever had in a while! Not overly sweet just hit the right spot I can tell you that. Overall experience I am happy and content.. highly recommended of you are strolling in the Whyteave area. #yeg
Had the special: chicken with hush puppies today. not my fave. Hush puppies were delightful but the chicken part seemed like more deep fried stuff (than chicken) that was bathed in Franks hot sauce. Note to self: stick with the beef brisket...that is ALWAYS amazing. Great service!
Amazing, juicy BBQ food. They have amazing service, and great prices for what you get.
I got the pulled pork sandwich. It was way too salty. Nicole was serving me and she asked if everything was alright. I mentioned I had a problem and she jumped on it immediately. She brought out little samples of the various ingredients of the sandwich for me to taste and figure out what component was making it too salty. They all tasted fine to me so she got the kitchen to make a new batch of pulled pork and got me a fresh sandwich. The new sandwich was perfect. She even left it off the bill. Sometimes things go wrong. That's life. What matters is how you handle it. Nicole handled it perfectly. Great food. Great service. 5 stars.
Great brunch options! Good service, the meat brisket brunch was amazing. Loved the environment and the food.
The pulled pork is the best I have ever tasted. The service was so friendly. I was there for brunch. I like how they have a dog friendly patio! The drink selection is decent. I can't wait to be back for dinner.
Got a brisket sandwich, pretty bland. It just tasted like a beef sandwich, couldnt pick up a trace of smoke. Was expecting a couple slices from a slab of brisket. But looked more like pulled brisket. Garlic fries are gross. For some reason they put a container of somekind of oily garlic dip in the bag. Food for the birds
Dinner
The restaurant experience seems somehow like an afterthought. The ribs I had were unfortunately fairly dry, in general the food is okay. It comes out very quickly, so much of it is likely pre-prepared rather than to order. The speed of service is good. I appreciate that they allow your dogs to be with you at your table on the patio, when many places only allow them to be tied up nearby.
Love this place! The food was delicous, the restaurant is set up nicely, and the servers are super friendly and attentive. It was about $180 for a meal that fed 4, 4 desserts, 4 alcoholic drinks and 1 non alcoholic drink. Will definitely go back. If you're going, get the sausage!
Mmmmm the best BBQ!! I’ve taken clients here from Texas and they thought the brisket was better than they get from back home! Brunch or dinner they won’t disappoint!
This was the best meal I've had all year. Make sure to try all the sauces! Staff was excellent all around too.
Great place to visit with group of people for a lunch. Their beef brisket sandwich and garlic fries are deadly combo.
Had the brisket sandwich, the burnt ends, the Mac and cheese, and the coleslaw. The fries were good, as was the Mac and cheese. The rest wasn't. The brisket was nearly flavorless. The burnt ends were ok but nothing I would ever return for. In short, it's nothing special food wise.
Awesome, family loved the meat and I loved the vegetarian feature!
This is one of my go-to spots I love meat so much. The aromatics of this place just seduce your senses!
First time trying MEAT and not my last. I ordered ribs which was made to perfection especially if you like that smokey taste, don't forget to try the mustard sauce but not needed to enjoy the ribs. I also had the brisket which was my personal favorite, so tender and taste so delicious. For my sides I had the mac and cheese (also a great buy) and beets. The only downside was I pre-ordered my food 30 mins before going to pick up at te store but still waited 45mins in the store for my food to be ready. Up side to that was I was offered a giftcard for my wait without even saying a word so great customer services to say the least. Since then have ordered twice and each time the food was jus as good as the first. 4.5 stars for great constant food and good customer service, lost half a star due to lack of parking.
Best brisket in town!
Was much better a year ago when I last visited. We got the brisket and pulled pork. Both were extremely salty, to the point they weren't palateable without sauce to mask it. Garlic fries were the same, too salty to enjoy. Meat special, a spicy garlic sausage was good, and the ceaser was alright but hard to mess up a ceaser.
Had family style meal. Food was well prepared and cooked. Tasty and overall happy with experience. Enjoyed the more relaxed shared seating design.
I visited your restaurant last night for a dinner with my husband. I want to make an official complaint about the service I received. Throughout the entire service, the server would only speak to my husband and never gave me any attention. I felt this behavior was racist because I am asian and my husband is white.
Meat as takeout isn't quite the same, but certainly surprised they haven't figured out you don't put cold salad in bag with warm items...
One of the best places to get your protein fix
We had the brisket and the pulled pork as well as brussel sprouts and beets as a side and everything was delicious! The restaurant is also very cool and there are communal tables and family style dishes!
The spicy chicken sandwich is delicious. Although it's not spicy, the flavour is great! It comes with a side of garlic fries which are also great. Additionally, we got the corn bread and the rosedmarcy peach iced tea. Would recommend all these items.
I absolutely LOVE this place. All the food is amazing.
Wow the food was amazing!!! Our server Rowen was fantastic! Best service around! ???? Thanks to the chefs toooooo!!! ☺️
Meat was very good. The ribs and brisket were excellent. The pulled pork was not however. I actually thought the broccoli was very good for an unloved vegetable. Apple pie was good. Overall the sharing concept was nice and we will be back.
What a place!! Great food and fantastic service!
Superb meal. Had the Southern Benedict. Outstanding. The restaurant in super clean, simple in design with the emphasis on their food quality. The service is excellent. Very courteous and knowledgeable young staff. If you like meat, you should dine at Meat.
First time at this restaurant! So good! Your taste buds will thank you! Four of us shared the meat platter, burnt ends, cornbread and roasted root veggies. More than enough for everyone. Will definitely try again the next time we're in Edmonton.
my man and i always go here and get the brisket for sure, this place is absolutely the best location for a casual eat. I love the atmosphere and the servers are great, very friendly. Super busy but we never wait more then 20 mins. Cant get enough of this location.
The best restaurant in Edmonton. Everything is great. Their own beer is amazing. Dessert? Amazing. It smells like heaven inside. I'm not a big whiskey guy but if you are then they've got you covered there too. Great atmosphere.
Go here if you love pickles.
The first brunch place I ever been to in Edmonton. Visited the city on a weekend and saw high reviews of the place. Glad I stopped by and enjoyed the meal. Will come by again to try other food on the menu.
Came here for dinner and it did not disappoint! Food was great and service was prompt and friendly. We had the brisket and the burnt ends., delicious! The sides we chose were fries, coleslaw, brussels sprouts, & baked beans. Brussels Sprouts were my favourite, yum Finished off dinner with their much talked about pecan pie - very good indeed
Friendly staff, tasty and juicy meat, tangy and unique sauces and even their Brussels sprouts were awesome ! Oh but the bread slices were not so special though.. overall, fantastic !
Lunch
For the price, not really worth it. The taste was mehh, the portions were small. Although it is a great location to meet with some friends.
My second time at Meat. Excellent BBQ, with a great atmosphere. My go-to spot when I'm in Edmonton.
Wow Meat is actually so good.. loved the briskets and pulled pork. Tbh everything was yummmmmmm. Loved the fries too.. Will come again.
Very friendly, feels like home. Great staff! Went for brunch - highly recommend the Beef Brisket Benny. Can't wait to try the dinner menu.
Delicious brisket and smoked meats. Mac & cheese and brussels sprouts sides are also very yummy.
We have ordered pick up on two occasions in the last month, and it has been a hit with our family. Amazing RIBS!!!!! Brisket was a huge hit with our three boys, Great Value, and the food travels very well for Take Out, compared to other restaurants we have tried in the last two months. Pick up procedures were well organized, and very professional. Highly Recommend.
Really good food and great atmosphere.
Love their quick time noodle dishes. Their dinner for one's are reasonably priced. Love how nice the front desk is, and how dinner is ready and home to eat by 20-40 minutes. Will definitely be ordering again! The food was very fresh and each dish had its own unique flavor.
Celebrated my birthday with my son and daughter-in-law. We had the meat sampler/tray (can't remember what it was called) also the house salad. OMg...sooooo flippin good.
Great cocktails, bourbon selection, service and food. Always a "must-stop" when I'm in Edmonton.
Great restaurant! We ordered beef briskets and fried chicken! They were so delicious and yummy! I think one pound and half beef with three pieces of chicken are enough for three hungry persons! Very friendly staff!
Best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had. Truly immaculate.
Stopped in for a lil snack....awesome brisket!
You know when you've been doing something wrong your whole life and you finally get to experience the right way to do it? Well that's the way I felt the first time I went to MEAT and tried their chicken, then again when I tried the rest of their food. Also their hollandaise sauces to die for if you go there for brunch.
Fantastic Spread. Delivered food on point. Definitely the best tasting Meat no pun intended. Don't forget to get the burnt ends as they are done to perfection and seasoned with awesome sauce. A must stop if you need to get your inner Carnivore satisfied.
Ordered the brisket burnt ends. Unknown until it was served it came with sauce, kind of hard to try their sauces when it comes with. The coleslaw was just like every other bbq place, plain. I wouldn't go back. The beer was good.
So good!!! Can’t get enough!
Would return. You shouldn't need my 2000 something review to say, JUST GO. DO IT. Clean, modern atmosphere. Range of sauces on the table. I liked the spicy and cherry. Lean brisket was par. Fatty brisket was good. A little over seasoned (salty) imo. But I think the real star ended up being the pork ribs. Absolutely tender. Huge flavours. Charred edges, still moist and a great portion. The slaw was very good - get the bigger size if you love slaw. Garlic fries were also very good. Huge portion! Prompt service. Fair tap. Highly recommend.
Great food, gluten free options and such good cocktails!
Absolutely amazing
I really enjoy their food. I always get good service here. The place is well kept and the staff members are always kind. Highly recommended.
I the brisket sandwich is dame good here plus the fries have a roasted garlic on them which makes them that much better. The Kentucky mule is a solid cocktail as well.
Great beef brisket and pulled pork sandwich. Garlic fries were good as well nice healthy portions.
The food was amazing and so was the staff. They were friendly and funny. Environment was pleasant with free WiFi. The only downside was the lack of parking spaces and we had walk for a while yo get there.
Fried chicken and Brussel sprouts are to die for
Fantastic food. Was my first visit here and they did not disappoint.
Delicious food and fantastic service! Emily was our bartender/server and she was great all around; friendly, and helpful. She gave us good advice on what we would find delicious and how much to order. Definitely recommend it!!!
Absolutely amazing food and mixed drinks are so unique. Fun atmosphere and service is great
I've been three times and every time i go, I'm never disappointed. Service is fast and friendly Food is AMAZING! Always cooked to perfection and very well made. Flavor is off the roof, they always have a featured meat, veggie, etc of the months. Last time I went they had a Tomahawk rib for $50 as their feature meat of the month and this time they had a 60oz Tomahawk steak for $100. The atmosphere reminds me of a cafeteria where we had picnic tables and benches. The eating style is mostly like a family sharing style but they also have individual plates. Looking forward for my next visit
Very tasty take on eggs benedict atop of beef brisket, resting on a cheddar home style biscuit. The breakfast sandwich was also very good.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Brisket is one of the best I've ever had.
Meat? They have it and do it well. Get the sampler. Pair it with the Brisket Old Fashioned. Thank me later.
Food is lovely. Good variety, great service, can’t wait for restrictions to be lifted so that dine in service can resume Also, hopefully being a level 6 reviewer will mean that this review is seen more than the angry Karen ones who either don’t understand how a pandemic works, or how restaurants (especially local) can’t afford to give up >20% of their revenue to food delivery companies
They are true to their name - this place serves MEAT and it is awesome. Their brisket is so juicy and delicious, the pork is amazing and the ribs are ribalicious. I always get a side of their coleslaw and garlic fries with whatever I order as these 2 sides make it all come together like one big warm hug.
This restaurant is hands down my favorite place to eat in the city, it literally doesn't matter what you order. Everything is slow smoked, everything is delicious. Seriously order anything, and the garlic fries are to die for. All this for what you would spend at your typical chain restaurants. Fantastic staff to top it all off.
I can't believe I waited so long to check this place out. It's a cool concept with family style smokehouse BBQ. The food is incredible. The ribs and smoked chicken just fall off the bone and have an excellent smokey flavour. The sides are excellent as well. I highly recommend the mac and cheese. They don't take reservations so be sure to show up early. We went mid-week and the place was still packed. The service was excellent and we were seated fairly quickly (they estimated 15 minutes and it was really closer to 5). You definitely get your money's worth. I've payed more money for far less satisfying meals. If you like barbecue, this place is worth checking out!
@meat_yeg ft ice cream float with birch beer from @boylancanada . . This place is famous for their meat dishes but do you know they also got amazing desserts! It’s one thing to have some ice cream float, another to have it by a fire place ???? Super impressed by the amount of ice cream in the cup!
Delicious! Great food, great service. I would definitely go again
Service
Brisket bourbon caesar was great. The fatty part of the brisket was melt in my mouth delicious but the non-fatty part was less tender than I would like. Good tasting garlic fries and lovely staff. I'm a whiskey fan and I liked the bourbon selection. Not extensive but there is something for everyone.
Great food! I'd recommend this restaurant to couples or groups looking for a fun place to eat out. They have a good selection of gluten free options. You definitely won't leave hungry! You will be dining at a shared table though, and it can be noisy.
The brisket and the Mac n cheese are so so good.
There's nothing I can say about MEAT that can perfectly describe how much I enjoy it, you just need to go there and give it a try. There's a reason that this place is never empty. Let's just say, that even though I eat vegetarian a majority of my meals these days, I'll gladly make an exception for this place. I highly recommend you try the burnt ends Brisket, the mac and cheese, with a Lynchburg lemonade on a warm summers day
Food and service was top notch!
Been here a couple of times over the years and I guess I have tried almost everything on the menu. The atmosphere is quite enjoyable. The food consistency is pretty high over the years. The chicken has remained as a favourite at this place (the brisket can be sometimes be on the drier side).
The Beef brisket is a beff chowing gum exactly, dry and not tasty. There is no quality comparing to the price. The fries is over cooked and salty as hell I don’t know why? Is it a challenge to not get a high blood pressure after you finish it?!?. Simply it’s a highway motel restaurant, not recommended if you want to spend a good day.
Ordered takeout 2 times while working in Edmonton and the service is absolutely incredible. Never fail to impress me and the service is what makes the place so good. I had the same worker help me when picking up my food and during this virus he made me feel comfortable and safe during the process. The machine was washed down in front of me and he took extra precautions for my safety. Lastly, the food was unbelievable and it was my first time ordering from here and I got the chicken and waffles. If I’m being honest, it is definitely the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had and I got it the second time as well even though I wanted to try other items but I couldn’t resist the chicken and waffles. Overall an amazing experience and I highly recommend this restaurant
Only word of caution: they do not take reservations. So expect a wait in the evenings, especially Thursday to Sunday. The food here is fantastic. All their in-house smoked meats are delicious and they have a really good selection of sides to go with them. Favourites of mine are the brussels sprouts hash, the corn bread, and the baked beans. They can accommodate larger groups reasonably well because of the large tables (but again, be aware that the larger your group the longer the wait). The staff have always been very nice during my visits, and I have no complaints about the speed of service. Their beer selection is pretty good and they serve 20 oz pints so fill your boots. The only downside I would say is that because of the open floor plan and large rooms, it can get pretty noisy during the busy times. But that sort of comes with the territory. This place is a must if you're visiting Edmonton, or if you live here and want to show friends a good time. Don't skip it.
One of the best ribs and fries I've ever had. Locally brewed beer and locally grown ingredients. Best staff. Great location must off White Ave. A go-to for sure
Delicious brunch and great service! Pickles were top notch also ???? We will definitely be back!
Pretty damn good food for an affordable price...
always great good, servers and bartenders are awesome and friendly.
For a place called Meat, the sides should not have been the best part of our meal. The beef brisket was on the drier side and the smoked chicken was just okay. The spicy and cherry bbq sauces were delicious though.
Have been wanting to go here for about a year, but its always packed, and for good reason. The first time we tried it was an hour and a half wait and decided against it... eventually ended up going for brunch and only had a half hour wait, completely worth it. Food was incredible!! Garlic fries, brisket benedict, pulled pork sandwich, thick bacon, horse radish cesar mmmmm all fantastic (ordered two different meals and split them). Even the coffee was great.
So good. I love the smoked ribs they don’t have a bunch of fat on them like so many ribs do. Everything on the menu is good. I only get to eat here when I visit family. Open a place up in San Diego I have yet to find good smoked BBQ that doesn’t have all the fat on the ribs.
Great Smoked meat choices..
Dine in
The atmosphere there is a bit different I find, but nice. Reasonable prices and meat is well hung.
Food came out quickly and was excellent. Alcohol selection was good as well. When we were there in August they had an indoor and outdoor set up. The outdoor set up was perfect. Shout out to the staff that sat us, we initially wanted inside and then wanted to switch to the patio and they were super understanding.
Best meal hands down In Edmonton. Reservations are a must
Always a great experience here, food is superb! My typical dish consists of pulled pork and order of mac and cheese, which I then mix.
My wife and I used MEAT to feed our guests on our wedding night. The food tasted as good as it does in the restaurant! The good was delivered to the venue in Clareview in coolers to keep the food hot. We had asked to keep each meal in cohorts, as we didn’t want to increase our chances of spreading Covid. Each meal was put into a labeled bag, making delivering to each table so easy! We served 19 people in 8 different cohorts and each one was packed perfectly and no issues with any order. Knowing we were going to serve local, wonderful, and delicious food all while doing it safely for our guests meant a lot. Thanks so much MEAT staff!
Meat sweats are well earned here. Just. Couldn’t. Stop.
The brisket sandwich was fantastic. Good portions and delicious meat. 130 on a Monday food took quite a while to come out , and the brisket sandwich could have used a little bit more brisket. Even with both of those things considered it was a 5 star experience and fantastic food.
So soo good!!! We had the brisket, maple chili ribs, nashville fried chicken with fries and corn bread for sides. The meats were all so tender and well portioned. And i normally detest corn bread but this place makes it so good!! All tied together with some old fashioned bourbon and a bourbon ceasar. Deff a must-visit on whyte ave if ur looking for a friendly atmosphere and delicious bbq!
One of the best places to eat in Edmonton, great food drinks service patio, BUT food is kinda salty, or maybe sometimes too salty
Amazing food a great atmosphere and a killer drink menu.
Had an amazing time at MEAT. Shout-out to T who made the night!
I got the brisket sandwich and it was everything I wanted it to be. Meat was flavourful, horseradish was creamy, but not overwhelming and the bun (although way too big) was delicious. It comes with garlic fries which were great - but again, too many of them. The coleslaw was a surprising treat. It has pickles chopped up in it and I think that really made a big difference. The real star of the show though was the skillet cornbread. AMAZING. I'll be dreaming about it for weeks. Service was good, but we sat at the bar to avoid the 20 minute wait for a table. Bartender was very friendly.
The best! Love going to this place. Very busy on the weekend so have a drink at the bar while you wait. Great for date night or a family style dinner
The service here is great! The food is also amazing! The set up is nice, and having the food all on one platter is great! However, it is quite popular and busy, so make sure to call ahead or make a reservation!
Such good food and amazing service. Try the mac and cheese!
Dinner
We did not enjoy the brunch here. Might give it a try at lunch or dinner for the meats.
Nice staff. Delicious ???? smoked meat. Not sure what else a meat lover can ask for. One of the best places to eat in this beautiful town
Loved the food. Hated the restaurant. Can't hear yourself think. Should really consult with someone to control the noise issues. I may order takeout but I'll never subject myself to the ear busting drudgery of this underwhelming, cafeteria-esque, boring restaurant
Popular place and good food. Service is nice too. The best part the location, simple design and simple menu...
Dine in
Had the sampler platter. Chicken was very dry. Service from the kitchen was slow with the restaurant not too full at about 4:00. Pulled pork on the platter was good, beef brisket OK, but hard to share some of the items like the single piece of fried chicken. Not a good value given the overall cost. Might go back for a pulled pork sandwich. Would not recommend the sampler platter.
Brisket, ribs, bbq staples that come out well
What an incredible experience! My husband and I order the selection of meats plate and it was exceptional! The pulled pork and brisket were the best! Can definitely recommend! They are also doing their part in following the rules with regards to Covid-19 and we felt safe and looked after. Well done Meat! John Catucci was right - "You gotta eat here!"
I love this restaurant! The food is amazing and wait staff are always knowledgeable. The only recommendation I would give is that it is popular, so if you are going with a group of more than 4 you'll want to get there early.
Absolutely delicious, very homey and southern vibe.
Great food along with excellent service!
EXCELLENT! super super super great service ???????? we ordered half of the meat and small side orders and it was still a lot. the meat was cooked to perfection ???????? the corn bread came in a cute skillet with butter on top, coleslaw was amazing and our server gave us 4 different type of bbq sauce which were all great! the decore is plain but elegant, it was busy when we came but we were seating immediately. Will be going back
Tried this for the first time tonight, the ribs were amazing but that pecan pie was bar none the best I've ever had. In these crazy covid times ordering online was easy and pickup was well executed. The option to add a random selection of beer and cider added a fun twist to our date. Cannot wait to go back.... but I'll be buying a whole pie!
Dine in
Portions are great, the food is good - but it is called Meat for a reason. The menu is limited to meat and a few sides. No frills, but value is there. Cocktails are OK. Beer selection is OK.
Lives up to its name. Great service.
Can't go wrong with Meat! Brunch and Dinner are practically two different in terms of menu/taste (Both delicious) so I would recommend coming twice for the full experience. Note the inside has picnic table style seating so don't expect a private dining experience, this is a more casual place!
The food tastes amazing. The portion sizes for myself are perfect but for some it is too much. Enjoy going out with friends to this hot spot to taste new meat.
Awesome food!!! Great portions
Upon entering the restaurant, you’re greeted with an abundance of amazing smelling meat. Order the brisket eggs Benny and you won’t regret it! The food was to die for, the service was amazing and the prices were reasonable. Will certainly be returning!
Fantastic food. Try everything and use all of the sauces. The fries are a must to try for sure. They carry a selection of craft brews as well. Be prepared for the restaurant to be busy so give yourself a bit of time if you plan to just show up and try to get a table. There’s no dedicated parking for the restaurant so plan to find street parking or park in one of the paid lots nearby.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner two Fridays ago. We had come here two years ago and were really excited since last time was so amazing. They were following proper COVID procedures which was nice to see. My boyfriend ordered the meatloaf and I ordered the pulled pork with garlic fries. The garlic fries tasted and felt like they were soaked in a garlic oil. The fries were really soggy and the smell of garlic was so strong. I also found a huge hair between my pulled pork. We didn’t say anything because by the time I discovered it I was finished eating. I would still recommend trying this place out but was super disappointed the second time around.
The beef brisket is amazing! Staff are all really friendly. Clean place.
Very very very good food! PERIOD. Little bit of a wait (Given that they were probably busy) But absolutely delicious food! well worth the wait!
Our first time trying the MEAT and we expected it to be really good with the high reviews. Came and ordered the ribs, pulled pork and brisket but we just didn't expect that it will be all dry and tough to eat. Sauces are nice, garlic fries is good but the meat is just tough and dry. We didn't even get to finish our food.
Southern BBQ at its finest! The food and atmosphere are as good as you'll find anywhere. We'll definitely be back.
Super tasty food and great service. I recommend the beef brisket and cornbread skillet!
Super friendly staff, food is to die for, highly recommend the beef brisket sandwich with the garlic fries and the choice of 5 sauces for the meat is pure heaven. The selection of whiskeys and Bourbon is amazing. The ambiance is cozy and at the same time high in energy! You gotta eat here. If... No! WHEN I come back to Edmonton I will have the pound of meat... on my own!
Good place for brunch
Nice, open atmosphere, server was very friendly and funny. The peach rosemary iced tea was divine! I ordered the Southern Grits. The flavour was awesome, the sausage gravy was nice and spicy, not too salty, and the meat was of course amazing. However, the dish doesn't come with toast or hashbrowns, and the result ends up being mostly saucy, with not much texture beyond soft meat. I wish I had ordered a side of toast, or that it came with it just to give some crunch. Otherwise, I had a good time with my family and would return.
This place is always busy, despite that the service has always been top notch. I've been able to try quite a bit of the menu and I can reassure anyone that their food lives up to any hype you might have heard. The brisket slaps, also don't sleep on the honey butter it is amazing.
This spot is amazing and broad, the meals was delightful and the prices were very affordable. rapidly, productive service and very amiable staff members. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing food - Simply wow
Our server forgot to put through our order so we waited our food get ready for almost an hour.
Great place and great food. I really like the beef brisket there, i think it is roasted to a great condition. And i like the fries there, i can't find another place that has their tasty fries. And my fiance and i had a birthday party here, we had a great time! Their customer service is great.
Chicken and waffles is a deadly choice here. Had it a few times, and it never stops being good! Waffles could be a biiiit bigger, but the chicken flavors and syrup they have make up for anything it might lack! Yum yum in the tum tum
Delicious food and great service!
First time going there.. Food was awesome! My husband and I love the pulled pork sandwich and the smoked ribs.. My son loved the mac and cheese.. Brisket was also a delight, but when we paired it with the cherry sauce, made it more delicious. For the drinks, i love the rosemary peach..
Went for brunch and it was not as good as I had expected hearing all the rave reviews. Was not bad but okay. Would like to try their dinner another time
Absolutely amazing restaurant, great food, great service. Just off of Whyte Ave easy access and we would highly recommend
Ordered the full meat sampler platter to share with my wife (to go) along with one of each of the four sauces. Was ready super quick, ready right when I walked in the door. Place was hopping. Young ladies at the front were very friendly. BBQ items were all pleasantly smokey. Dry rub on the half chicken was nice. But all the meat was borderline dry. Not inedible dry, just really wanting for sauce. Which was a problem because none of the sauces were complimentary at all, and only the mustard sauce was ok. The kicker was that for a BBQ place, the only delicious item was the non-BBQ'D item, the deep fried chicken thigh which was outstanding! Dry crunchy coating with lots but not overpowering seasonings covering perfectly cooked tender and moist chicken. If we we're to go again, the order would be that deep fried chicken. Only. This should be their lead!
Did some take out for my family during these Covid times and it was fantastic. Very well organized, immaculately clean and fantastic BBQ! We have done a few previous pick ups lately and this was the best in terms or organization and ability of the food to travel. Excellent value and amazing Brisket, beans and slaw! We will be back for pick up for sure and we look forward to dining in!
