I had higher expectations for this place. The steak tartar was good. The drinks were good and different. However, I did come for the seafood platter which had very minimal food portion for the cost and one of our lobster pieces that was pretty big was still raw/frozen. We told the waiter and he didn’t seem to care or do anything for us. Pretty disappointed yes about that. I’m glad I tried this place but wouldn’t come back again.

Ok so first of all we had good service, second the wine was good. There were three of us, my partner ordered the chicken and my friend and I ordered the NY strip loin which came with tomato and charbroiled broccolini. We also ordered mash potatoes as a side. The mashed potatoes were yummy and smooth but were accompanied by Parmesan like chips that tasted like old oil, kind of stale, hard to explain weird oil taste. Secondly the tomatoes with the steak were great, the broccolini was charred over wood but I swear gas was used to light that fire because it had a creosote quality in the flavor. The steak, which was 54.00, tasted ok, but for 54.00 was not up to par. I had a barbecued steak from Costco that was more tender and flavorful a week ago. My friend said the plate should not move when you cut into a 54.00 strip loin, well it moved. We politely expressed our experience, only because they asked. Basically the steak was at best average, the broccolini tasted stale and gas like, the potatoes were yummy, the staff was friendly. We thought we would have been better off going to the keg.we also thought they would have bought our wine or something ? Maybe we were too polite to warrant some kind of gesture for the mediocre meal. My partner said her chicken was average at best. Our bill was 252,00 I believe and we tipped another 48.00 cause we had good service but I won’t likely be back for a steak. They can dispute our experience but my friend and I felt the same about our meals. I’m sure they have sone good stuff there, we saw a tower of seafood that looked really interesting at the table next to us. Any we were disappointed.I will go back and have a beer on their patio, it’s a great spot but I’ll be careful with choosing food.

Breath of fresh Air! My husband and I make it a habit to try out new restaurants in Edmonton (once or twice a month, at least) and as of late haven't really been impressed. Some of our favorite places didn't survive COVID (RIP Wildflower Grill) and the ones that did, don't quite have the luster they used to. As per my request (due to rave reviews) my husband took me here for my birthday dinner last night and it was absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the minute we walked in I was excited, the J.W Marriot lobby was stunning and elevated the experience (especially compared to other Steakhouses in the city) and seeing the new developments in Ice District was also a really cool touch. The restaurant itself was gorgeous, very rich woods, jade greens and warm leather made it feel super luxurious but also warm and inviting. NOW, the food... just, wow. I had the fillet (cooked PERFECTLY), and the beef short rib... just, oh my god good (like stop eating mid way and ask yourself "is this real life?" good.) The service was top notch and the food was out of this world. THIS IS WHAT EDMONTON NEEDED! Worth every penny and highly recommended, I had the perfect evening and went home full of wine and amazing food. Worth a visit & I can't wait to come back! 10/10!

Braven feels like a place for celebrations. It's large and well decorated and has great atmosphere. It felt great to be out in a nice restaurant and enjoy a romantic valentine's day dinner. The menu had plenty of delicious sounding choices and everything we tried was fantastic. We will certainly be back and are eagerly looking forward to being able to celebrate here again.

Our group of four visited Braven to experience their beautiful patio for lunch and the experience exceeded our expectations. The tables are covered (this was very handy during a light 5 minute shower that occurred during our visit). The area is also heated thanks to torches placed throughout the patio. Our waitress was kind and extremely attentive, our food was prepared and served quickly, and all of our meals tasted great! We highly recommend Braven as they took great care of us, we will be back!

The dinner at Braven was not bad. The Duchess cocktail from the menu was well mixed and a nice balance of flavours. The sirloin I ordered was cooked well to my preference but my dinner partner had an uneven cook to his so was a little disappointed. If not for that I would have rated this with another star as the service and ambiance were quite good otherwise.

Braven I was a little surprised my food came out before our drinks, it was a friday evening so the bar was busy! We were warned about parking so definitely leave early if yu have reservations. Our server was amazing young Spanish gentlemen keep a good conversation and waters full well we waited on drinks.... the food and drinks were amazing loved the corn bread and my salmon was to die for lol. I did see EPS talking to manager but they are everywhere these days. The manager kyle approached us reassured everything was okay and then after dinner took us to the kindred Thanx for the dinner I will definitely be coming back during the week to try more of the menu XooX

We tried the patio for Happy Hour. The Happy Hour cocktail and food menu is well-priced and decently broad with many drinks and snacks. The patio is beautiful with a mix of shady and sunny tables to suit your preference. Unfortunately, music seems to have been and afterthought on the patio. The music was via a Bluetooth boombox, along with the usual Bluetooth occasional drops and choppiness. Food was quite good. Veggie options are limited, and plant-based almost completely lacking, but to be fair, it is a steakhouse. The real star or our experience was our server, Karen. Service in Edmonton is often mediocre to good. Karen was exemplary. When I mentioned the choppy music being annoying, she took care of it. When we said the sangria wasn't exactly how we like it (there was nothing wrong with it, just more grapefruit flavour than suits our preference), she brought us some orange juice to modify it. Karen was the experienced, professional server that one doesn't often find on am Edmonton patio.

A delicious dining experience after navigating the slightly confusing parkade under the JW Marriott. Located on the main level of the hotel, Braven is a modern and sophisticated dining location. The drink menu is wonderful with quite an extensive wine list meeting both casual and celebratory needs. The dinner has plenty of options for everyone and there are set meals as well as the ability to choose protein from land or sea and customize your accompaniments. Save room for dessert, because it was delicious and the chocolate marquis is highly recommended for any chocolate lover, or finish on the lighter side of things with sweet and juicy scoops of sorbet. The restaurant is comfortable and a delightful place for a special meal out.

We had an amazing time on the patio at Braven. What a beatiful location, and the food and drinks were delicious. Karen, our waitress, was so much fun, attentive, and even took the time to get to know our dog. All the staff were great at checking in, noticing when we needed another drink, and we felt well taken care of. New favourite restaurant.

Ordering dinner off the leather menus was magical and the food was presented beautifully and tasted delicious I honestly do think I’ve found my new favorite steak specialist in Alberta! The food was excellent but when I make a reservation for dinner I want a table not the bar. I'm not there for a dine and dash. The waiter took the drink order then seemed to disappear. I had to look for the floor manager. After that the service was fine. The food was good value and nicely done. One factor on food safety: the cooking staff should have a glove on both hands. Their bare hands should never touch the food that a customer puts in their mouth. Period. The overall is well organized and good staff. I would return.

This place is not great and way over priced. The food is below average but priced like it should be one of the best meals you can have. Nice atmosphere and decor but almost everything else was disappointing. Definitely won't be back as this was our time giving it a second chance and it was just as bad as the first time. Don't waste your money.

The reason for my star rating was based on my overall dining experience. I had booked a "private dining" experience for an office staff event, upon arrival, we did have a private room however, our guests were completely separated and we didn't get to interact with each other especially since the restaurant set out a seating chart they made themselves for our guests instead of myself setting out a seating plan. We also had a guest that was in a wheelchair that was mentioned at the time of booking, i was assured that the venue was wheelchair accessible, which is true the restaurant itself is, however, the tables were low which meant my guest wasnt able to eat at a normal table. This meant he was secluded from the group as they had to makeshift a table that would fit an individual in a wheelchair. The food was average, general consensus was the mains were good, sides were subpar and didnt match what was set forth on the set menu that we were provided for group dining. Drinks were amazing, especially their crafted cocktails, the staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable.

there was a group of 7 of us who came here after the game, it was so busy but they were so fast at accommodating us. The young blonde gentle man (serving on the kindred side) who served us was amazing! Very fast and thorough and had our drinks coming in so fast! Will definitely be coming back !

Cold food, pan fried steak, and they tried passing off trout as Salmon. Truffle fries that tasted nothing like truffles. It's amazing how bad the meal was considering staff outnumbered customers by at least 3 to one.

Our experience at Braven was undoubtedly awesome, to start the only negative is that it's a touch dark and gets a little loud as the restaurant fills up, but I can not say enough about the awesome staff, they were Professional, and friendly from the greeter, to the staff that sat us and a huge shout out to our server Mel, A+ service. The food was delicious, I'd say portioned well for the price very timely. Would definitely recomend to anyone looking for a very nice spot out for the evening.

The staff at Braven are amazing. Friendliness and efficient service is noticeable. We ordered everything from drinks, appetizers, main course and desserts and everything tasted amazing and was presented well. It was our second time here and will be returning in the future. My only criticism would be the price. It would be nice to receive complimentary bread or slightly larger portions for what your paying for.

Went to Braven restaurant for my wife's birthday last week. The service started out amazing but once we placed our order the waitress did not return to check on us. Other staff members came to remove our dishes and when we tried to place an order for a drink we were told to ask the waitress but the waitress never returned. I ordered the 8oz lamb sirlion and my wife ordered the Linguini alla. This is probably the worst lamb i have ever had at a restaurant and would never order it again. Overall the experience was not great due to the bad service and poor quality of food. I would not return here.

I strongly recommend going. Try the Bison steak with sides of peppercorn sauce, and mushrooms. The sauce is dreamy- my taste buds went crazy, and the mushrooms are like crack- total high!! The wine pairing was one of those memorable experiences of a perfect combination of food flavours and wine notes. It was a 2016 chateauneuf du pape and I asked them to decant for a bit. The service was great, the appetizers and dessert gorgeous. Portion size is good. Ambiance (get a booth) is lovely- a touch of opulent. Price is reasonable for this calibre of restaurant. The bill came to $500 for 6 of us including a round of drinks, 3 shareable appetizers, 6 entrees, desserts, tip, and including a $145 bottle of wine. Mind you two people had the burger meal so perhaps the bill would have been higher otherwise, and no one ordered a $150-200 steak (phew). I’m still salivating over the bison and the flavours with the wine. Enjoy!

Not sure if the Downtown Dining Week menu didn't do them justice? Our Tuscan onion soup was barely warm when it arrived. We ordered the haddock and salmon cake and the pulled pork sandwich, they were only mediocre. We were a little disappointed, almost felt like we could have gone to a local restaurant for way better quality. The patio was nice though, it's got a nice ambience.

My reservation was cancelled due to a private function at their partnered bar Alchemy. I guess I'm not Fancy enough. The restaurant was not apologetic and did not offer any compensation. Surprised this subpar service is still acceptable during a time when restaurants are eager to welcome patrons back. I will not recommend in the future. There are too many good restaurants in Edmonton to waste your time with this establishment.

Enjoyable and intimate dining. This is our 2nd time visiting. Cocktails are exceptional. Service is attentive. The atmosphere of this restaurant and lobby bar is so welcoming. A great place for a date or drink before a game.

Nope. The room is nice, except our booth looked directly into the messy kitchen/prep area. The beet salad and wedge salad are good, but the Caesar was small and sad. Steak was decent. Lamb was bone cold and was a horrible cut job. Sides are ok, but small….and you guessed it! COLD! Ordered espresso and latte that tasted like dirty dish water… the second attempt was good and hot this time. Dessert are decent though. Oh, and the sever ice was like a slow apple bees waitress that was all too familiar. This “Restaurant” is a big pass for me. Not going back.

She was funny, down to earth and made the fine dining experience fun. The food was EXCEPTIONAL. I have had the pleasure of dining in some high end restaurants across North America and I can confidently say this was one of the best meals I have ever had. We will be back!

I went to Braven a couple weeks ago to celebrate my birthday and instead of having a nice lunch, I left with a pounding headache. The staff/management are unprofessional and rude. My table was enjoying our lunch despite many fallbacks from the restaurant including issues with seating, forgetting our orders, forgetting cutlery, etc. Ultimately, we were accused of being rude and being profane when that was not the case. While they were accusing us they didn’t even allow us to be heard and tell our story and instead chose to constantly speak over us and said that they didn’t believe us. I have never had such a gross experience at an establishment and wasn’t even able to finish my lunch. I will not go back and do not recommend this place to anyone.

Unfortunately I left braven extremely disappointed after coming in with high expectations. On Saturday evening, I came in for dinner with my mom, our family and our friends for her birthday dinner, before heading to the football game. Before even entering the restaurant we started the night out with unclear instructions of where we needed to park. We called the restaurant and whoever answered the phone couldn’t give us definite answers just “I think you’ll be fine if you park there”. We were seated in a completely empty restaurant with the lights actually turned off in the first section you walk through to get to your table. We were then greeted by a servers assistant who got us all waters. When our server nick came around he offered to get us all beverages, which we ordered. I was ready to put through some appetizers as well but he told me to hold off until he got us our drinks. Annoying, but it was fine. My dad was the designated driver for the evening so he ordered a coke, the coke came out flat. Instead of apologizing nick said oh I know we’re out of Co2. If you admitted to knowing that, the drink should’ve never touched the table. When dropping off drinks he was a bit abrupt spilling my brothers mojito slightly. Normally this wouldn’t bother me but again, we had very high expectations for service that evening. The appetizers came out, they were good. Then onto the main course, everyone else’s dishes came out good, however varying drastically in portion sizing but my dad and I both ordered the ravioli, however they came out looking completely different. My sauce was a thick tomato sauce, his a oily mess with some tomato sauce. His ravioli was so undercooked that it was crunchy. Mine al dente but edible. He had to send his back as it was so bad. I complained about mine but I was so hungry so I said I’ll keep it in front of me. While 5 of us were eating my dad was sitting there with a water (no coke) and nothing offered in the meantime, no salad or fries or anything while he watched us all eat. His next order of ravioli came out later, but not promptly. It seemed like it had not been prioritized in the kitchen. We then ordered dessert again it was good but the portion sizing seemed off. The carrot cake was huge and the rest of the desserts were very small. No dessert was brought out specially for my moms birthday, or comped due to my dads bad experience. Maybe that is just not done at a restaurant like braven? I’m still leaving 2 stars as the drinks were good, however the maraschino cherries seemed tacky… maybe try amarena instead? The appetizers were good, but nothing I would write home about. Braven is an overpriced luxury restaurant that underdelivered with the quality of their food and service. Coming from someone who works in the restaurant industry, I think I left a very fair review. I left feeling underwhelmed with the food and upset with the service we received. Unfortunately I don’t think I would ever return to Braven as it didn’t even come close to meeting my expectations.

Smoked Boneless Beef Short Rib meal with Cornbread starter. Overall really tasty. Slightly salty meal, so if you cannot have to much salt I would tell staff. It was delicious overall and the workers are very friendly.

Their food is amazing but a bit pricey, so worth it though. This restaurant is upscale, classy and fancy. Top 10 5star restaurants in Edmonton. Great spot for celebration. A few down sides: it's located in Downtown Edmonton, so parking is hard to find/limited. The restaurant is inside JW Marriott hotel so it's hard to find.

Was in Edmonton for business and had dinner at Braven. Great food, great service and very nice atmosphere. Not the cheapest, but the quality of the food is there, so worth it.

Food was on point, but the service let down the entire experience and didn't justify the high asking price of the menu. We ordered app's and dinner and didn't see much of our server after that, leaving it to the bus staff to fill the voids. Mains arrived without sides (steak section of the menu is "a la carte" style and that is kind of the point), sides arrived after the mains were finished. Had to chase staff down for drink refills, no cutlery when dinner service arrived, empty plates sitting on the table after we finished with them for 15+ minutes. Very unprofessional and gives the vibe the front end staff are not properly trained. Would not go back or recommend, especially if you have a special event to plan.

The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was good however the food for the price was disappointing. The portion sizes were ridiculous for the price. I ordered $65 worth of crab legs; I was served five of the smallest and skinniest legs. My bill was close to $300 and both me and my husband left hungry. I would not recommend and I would not return.

Located inside the lovely J.W. Marriott, the restaurant would be classified as fine dining. The cocktail menu is sophisticated with the Brooklyn a recommended try if you're into mixed drinks. The menu is impressive and the hamachi appetizer was what was tried. While it's delicious, the portions are very small for the price. The Chateaubriand for two is tasty and please order it medium rare. It came with two ends which is a first for me. We did appreciate the complimentary sauces given. We paired the steak with creamed spinach and the wild mushroom medley -- the latter is highly recommended. The spinach was a bit too salty. We tried the phyllo-wrapped cheesecake and the toffee pudding were the desserts and the former of the two is the recommended choice if you have to pick one. Service is decent and friendly but there were periods where he could have returned sooner. Would not mind some bread offerings especially given its price point. A bit noisy side.

Awesome vibe, amazing atmosphere and some truly delicious food. One thing that would've made it perfect was the service. Our waitress was good but she got really flustered a few times, forgot our side orders twice and came back to our table few and far between so we couldn't order as many cocktails as we wanted.

Braven lounge bar: happy hour 1130-1700 makes it a worthwhile stop though half off is still relatively expensive. Wings 12/$10: hot sauce on the side recommended. Calamari: crispy. Overall presentation: good. Service: excellent.

Terrible service. They brought us food with no cutlery or napkins? Had to chase down the server constantly in order to get what we needed. Good quality was poor for the price. Would not recommend this place.
