Loved the food here. I would recommend trying the Hell's Kitchen and Linguine Chicken Tetrazzini. Mocktails were good too. The place is kids friendly, they provided crayons for my kid. Not to mention the complimentary brownie for the little one. We enjoyed our brownie with icecream as well. The staff was also very nice. Just for this one if you are looking for a family dinner.

We've been happy with the food here for the most part except for the deer droppings they call hamburger for pizzas and main dishes. Taste funny and don't even resemble meat. Maybe its some Italian thing. Love the seafood dishes. Salads are ALWAYS fantastic!!

I understand that there is a world crisis, however in a time where the restaurant can't be very busy and should be thanking me for spending money there, they are making it too difficult. Lots of places have takeout. I can still go in and order or order ahead and pay when I get there. Not here. You can only get food here if you have a credit card. I hate to break it to you, the whole world does not own a credit card. Swiss Chalet was more than happy to let me spend $50 at their establishment. It must be nice to be so rich that you can pick and choose customers, leaving a big percentage out of options to eat. I will remember this when the restaurant is open fully again. I won't ever darken their doors again.

I dine at East Side Mario's with my family twice per month but usually in Ottawa. I hadn't been to the Hull location in quite some time and I remember why. I walked in shocked at the surrounding disaster. So many dirty tables that we had to wait for one to be cleaned to sit but hardly any occupied tables. The waitress, Nadia, poor thing was so kind and running everywhere trying to make up whatever disorganization was going on in there. The bartender was attempting to help serve and wash dishes??!! The food was less than satisfactory and I tend to order the same meal regularly so I know what it should be like. I feel sorry for the waitress who's salary is based on an amount with an expectation of gratuity but will definitely miss out on tips as most people will not realize that the complete chaos of that restaurant is not her fault. They need a new manager and some communication with their staff (maybe more staff??). Of course the manager was busy when I was finished and clearly wanted to address our issues. Had I not been so fed up and not wanting to cause a scene in front of my children the only thing I would've paid is that waitress' tip.

First time going to this location since the one in the university plaza shut down. Great service! The server was friendly and there was quick service despite it being super full. Covid precautions were great too. Food was nice as usual. went for husband's birthday dinner, they threw in dessert for free. Always a pleasure

Very slow dine in service last night, smaller groups coming after us were served before we were. But the biggest problem was the very limited menu and excuses given that things weren't available from suppliers when clearly they were in other restaurants we had been to in the same week.

Previous review: "Good service but typical food. Enjoyable but nothing you'll write home about." New: Came here when Quebec was entering the "Green zone" and even though my dad and I live in Quebec our ID still showed Ontario since it was within the last couple weeks we moved. It was my kids 13th birthday and some kid maybe a year older than he was wouldn't let us have our table because we were out of province and it was the "law". Never mind mentioning anything on the phone when I reserved 2 days prior ... Oh and the "law" didn't exist at any other restaurant that day. Thoroughly disappointed.

I ordered a Bacon and Shrimp Rigatoni at lunch time and got charged the dinner price. It was $8 extra charge. When I complained about this to the manager he said I was responsible for making it clear it was the lunch item I was ordering. I didn't even know there were different prices for the same darn Bacon and Shrimp Rigatoni, and how should I be responsible for making it "clear"?! I will never come again.

This restaurant has become our favourite place to eat in Cranbrook, just last night we drove an hour just to eat there for dinner. The food is AMAZING, the servers always make you feel like family, and we always leave happy and stuffed. Yesterday I had the lasagna and my fiancé had the chicken parm with pasta, best Lasagna I’ve ever had by far. The chicken parm was delicious as well. 10/10 would recommend eating here.

This East Side Marios location is a huge let down. My family and I were visitng the Gatineau area, and while looking for late evening dining options, we opted in to try East Side Marios for the first time. We found that this location closed at 10PM and we visited at 8:30. Upon our entrance, we were immediately told that the restaurant was closing up very soon and that we would have to place our order within 10 minutes. This was surprising news as we were under the impression that the restaurant was still open for another 1.5 hours (Your opening hours on google needs to be updated). As we were fully commited as a family to give this a try, and we were unfamilliar with the area to find another option, we accepted the challenge to order within their given timeframe. We found the staff at this location not inviting, nor congenial, and felt like unwelcomed guests. We had accidentally spilled a glass of water during our visit and had absolutley no attenetion from restaurant staff. We attempted to clean the mess ourselves and had to reach out to another server for additional napkins - She brought 3 individual napkins and did not take notice of the spill at all until we had to ask for additional supplies to clean up. Our server rarely checked up on us, and we had to physically wave our hands in the air to get their attention as we felt completely disregarded. On the food side of things, we were given 1 tiny loaf of garlic bread as a starter to share across 5 people, two of our family members ordered meals that the restaurant didn't even have the paste noodles to make, which took the server 30 minutes to notify us about. Apart from that, the food was good, but difficult to enjoy given that we were on a tight timeline. I've had my fair share of sub-par dining experiences, but this one has to top the list of poor service for me.

Wish I could leave a no star review, food was over an hour late waiting in the car then had to go inside wait more then have them give us the wrong cold order, staff was nice and helpful but manger was extremely rude and unprofessional telling people who got the wrong order or waiting 2+ hours to cancel and get a refund he doesn’t care, we then proceeded to call head office and they told us they could not give us a refund only a credit that has to be used within 60 days overall very disappointed with this east side according to other reviews this is a common issue during holidays if they can’t handle 600+ orders they probably shouldn’t take that many ruined Valentine’s Day dinner ????

I used to love going to east sides as it was my favourite restaurant. I completely understand that with the pandemic restaurants have been forced to increase prices but that does not excuse lowering the food quality as much as they did. The portions have gone down and the prices have gone up leaving it to be noticeably worse. Would sadly not recommend coming back until they revert to their original high quality.

On a weekday service was really slow. All the tables were sticky not sure if they clean properly. Food was pathetic. Why pour sauce on top of pasta rather than tossing it. We could have done that at home. If all chef had to do was boil pasta and pour pasta sauce from the bottle then anyone cook an Italian meal. Not sure if the ownership is changed, but couple of years ago this place was good. Now probably the worst Eastside Mario's in tricities.

Rude staff, and honestly it seems like it's trickle down rudeness. The food was standard east sides, but honestly worth a drive to the Blair location. Won't return.

Yesterday I would have given a fairly decent review of East Side Mario's, but tonight's experience has tarnished that. After spending a difficult afternoon at the funeral home, l suggested to family members that we get together for a nice family dinner. Since we needed to be back at the funeral home in 2 hours, I recommender ESM , partially because it was close, but also because my wife and I had previously had a good dinning experience there. Unfortunately that was not the case tonight. The food was substandard, the service was slow and lacking, and to say the bills were seriously screwed up, would be an understatement. Of the six separate bills, only one was correct. We had to get the management involved to settle things and by that point everyone was upset and running late. Sadly I must say I will probably not recommend this establishment any time soon. Seriously disappointed.

I was very happy to eat here. I was part of a larger group there for a retirement party and the ESM staff were very able to accommodate our larger group and serve us in a timely fashion. The food was good. I tend to look for healthier choices, and the menu was pretty versatile. The kids menu was also very nice, my son wanted to buy more and bring it home. I was also impressed to see that there was a little play area for kids with a couple of bins of toys; all kitchen related. Really nice to see that sort of thing to help entertain the kids while out for a nice meal. I will definitely go again and recommend this restaurant to others in the area.

They did not even acknowledge us when we came in. We weren't given an option of where we would like to sit. They sat us at a table on the bar side, which was fine except the table was small. The waiter even made a comment that our table couldn't get smaller. Our meals, drinks and a salad didn't even fit. Our service was horrible as well. The manager just walked around swingung tongs around. Definitely disappointing.

Pros - Portion sizes are always good, service is usually quick and friendly, and its pretty reliably an okay meal Cons - Some of the menu items are big misses, today was the first time I've actually had to send something back at a restaurant. Pops are almost always flat at this location too, but maybe that just my luck. Service today was a little slower but we understand they are probably understaffed and our waitress made amends.

The food is okay if you don't mind a lot of salt. Had ordered a chicken fettuccine and it was inedible. Asked the waitress if the cook could make the sauce with less salt and was told the sauces are pre-made offsite. I ended up having a bolognese that was not as salty as the creamy sauces. For folks with high blood pressure - this might not be a good place to have a meal - just saying...

Terrible food and service! Went there on a Saturday evening with my wife, once we were seated and had our menus and ready to order, it took the waiter 20 minutes (I'm not kidding) to come ask us what we wanted, we felt like he was ignoring us. When he finally took our order it took them another 20 minutes, the pizza was barely baked (felt more like a lasagna), my wife's pasta was so fat and greasy it felt like eating a pound of butter and cheese melt together. We were unable to eat more than a quarter of our meals, the waiter never came to see if we needed more water or if everything was ok (probably cause he knew how terrible our food was). I left him poor tip when leaving, what a waste of cash..

I am only giving them a three for a few different reasons. 1. The portions are very small for what you pay they should be bigger. 2. After many times going to this place the taste consistency isn’t there 3. My most recent visit which I have reported to public health when they make salads for the all you can eat the salad maker has a piece of paper that says what table/server, what salad type etc. Once he makes the salad he puts that piece of paper right on top of the salad ew! I then watched 6 different waiters/waitresses come over to the same salad pick up that piece of paper to see if it was there’s and put the paper back in the bowl ew! I find this to be very unsanitary. Also the salad maker wasn’t wearing any gloves nor did he wash his hands during any of the 15 plus salads I seen him make.

Service was great. Staff were friendly. I had the Roasted Garlic Tomato Soup (excellent) and the Firecracker Shrimp Bowtie. The dish was spicy hot and piping hot. The bread is always excellent. Our server was generous with the parmesan and timed her trips to our table very well. I took off one star because we were seated right below the stairs and had a view of a lot of spilled cheese on the floor.

Went to this location around 8pm. The doors were locked. No notes or anything why it was closed. Pulled on both doors and neither would budge. Called their customer service and they called the store to see if it was closed. The person that spoke to the agent refused to check the doors because they claimed it was open. If I ever heard of a lame excuse of a restaurant, this is it! I will NEVER go back to this location. After we left, another couple tried to get it but could not...

Normally I enjoy this location but tonight when we went I asked for a pepperoni panzerotti and I ate it it was great when I got home I started to break out in hives and the only thing that triggers hives is mushrooms and I noticed there was green peppers on my pants are already but I didn't think anything of it and the green peppers and mushrooms only come on the works panzarotti so clearly I got the wrong one not impressed

One of my favourite restaurants growing up. There are not very many left in Canada. Once I saw there was one in Cranbrook myself and kids were so excited. At first we planned to stay in Cranbrook but ended up going to Golden. The owner was absolutely awesome during this time. Gave us great service a coffee for the road and great conversation. UPDATE: Since posting this I was contacted and I've upped the rating to 3 stars for the appology and followup to make it right (more so for the future). The entire situation in Ontario is not ideal right now (or for the last year) but I had assumed by this point they had gotten things figured out, but it's a work in progress. At all times ESM employees were very respectful & kind, clearly doing the best they could. In the future I just hope they can be more honest with wait times. :) Our first experience ordering for curbside in April for a birthday, was a very positive experience, leading us to try again for Mother's Day. DO NOT order from here on ANY type of holiday (or weekend I've gathered). I placed our order at 5 with the site showing it was an hour wait, not a big deal, especially knowing I'm ordering during prime time. The order confirmation said it would be ready at 610 - perfect! I arrived a few minutes before 610, confirmed I was there, received the standard text back & then began the 1.5 hour wait. Yep, you read that right one and a half hours (actually 1 hr. 24 mins) from time it was to be "ready". At 630 a staff member had stopped to chat at a few vehicles, obviously dealing with upset customers, so I did have grace. When she stopped at mine when I rolled my window done, she was very nice , checked her phone, said it should be out very shortly they were running 15/20 mins behind. Naturally, no big deal & I said ok no worries that'd mean mine will be out any second & she left. Come 7pm I've seen people walking up to the door, pacing, clearly upset, my update from home is my kids are well past hungry & should they make something & I'll get a refund. Since I hadn't really seen anyone working their willing to talk (or answer the phone) I said yes, I'll go to the door & ask for refund. I got talking to someone I knew (distanced & masked) in the lot & before I could go in, at 720 an employee was then speaking with a customer in the vehicle next to ours so I caught her and asked. I got the same line of "we are just really busy & are a bit behind (wow that's an understatement) but we are getting caught up.". Since it's nearly bedtime for our kids, I asked for a refund, where she said I could just go home instead & call the help line because it's faster. I didn't accept that answer based on a few reviews I read so she was going to go talk to her manager. While I waited, again, at 730 I got a text asking me to pull up for my food. I took it, since I was there, but brought home cold pizza for my son (obviously had been ready for a while) but our pastas were warm. My chicken or cheese in my order wasn't tasting right (I am not going to keep tasting it to find out which it is) so I to will be having something else for dinner tonight. If they had just been upfront from the start about the wait we would've come at the appropriate time or not ordered at all instead of being annoyed! I'm not one to actually post reviews on here but the receipt doesn't have anywhere to deal with this privately so here it is! At least I had some time to myself this mother's day, sitting in my vehicle!

This was the worst experience i have had at any eatery in long time. Service was mediocre but we received our main courses a few minutes after we started eating our appetizers. Appetizer, Budda Boomers, were under cooked and greasy, so I'm going to assume their fryer oil wasn't the right temperature. Our soup was brought to the table at non-food safe temperatures. It was so cold we could put out fingers in it. They then took it back and brought the same bowls having simply microwaved the soup. Entrees were average, better cooked than the appetizer and soups, but still not hot. The washrooms were FILTHY. Like the truck stop bathrooms I've been using for the last 8 hours were cleaner. You'd be better off going to the A & W across the street.

I have to say when our bus pulled up here I was wondering what kind of establishment this was. Pasta! I heard Mary Sue shout, a person who sat at the front of the bus like her would get excited by that. I was from the back of the bus, and out for something wild. We made our way inside and was greeted and seated, Mary Sue saw the face masks and nodded in delight at the safety measures. I was shocked to find the tables were not distanced and everyone was sat next to each other. Wild food I wanted not the wild west! I ordered the chicken Parm and I have to say it was not as big as my head. I measured it against Mary's just to check (her head was like a pinball and it didn't measure up!!) I was disappointed by this. The pasta I had was also not large, Mary Sue gobbled down all our garlic bread and they did very well at restocking it. I left with body confidence issues and feelings that I must have a ginormous head.

We ordered dinner here for Mother's Day dinner last night, for curb side pick up. Our confirmation window told us our pick up appointment time was 6:15pm. My husband and 3 year old went to pick up, when they arrived the lot was PACKED, so they expected a 10-20 minute delay. OVER an HOUR later with NO communication from the restaurant on to what was going on, or why the order was STILL not ready, I finally called to express our upset (as I am sure every other customer did at this point as well). They told me there was a system error, and they received far too many orders at once. I understand that, but shame on the restaurant for 1) not communicating that to the customers as soon as they realized the mishap, 2) not providing ANY sort of discount to the meal ordered, or for a future visit 3) as soon as they realized the mix up should have notified customers with a NEW pick up time with an option to keep the order but go for their new time OR cancel with a voucher for the future. After a 1.5 hours AFTER our 6:15pm pick up window- my husband FINALLY got our order with a very apologetic waitress. Shame on the restaurant for sending the waitress out to deal with VERY irrate customers and not having a manager step up. Beyond disappointed with this location and how they handled that entire situation. To top it off, they forgot our salad dressings. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes, as they had a lot of upset customers yesterday evening.

The place itself is nice. The waiting staff is good. While I loved my pasta, my girlfriend ordered plain cheese pizza that she said tasted off and not good. She took a bite, told the waitress immediately. Instead of offering a replacement or comping it off the bill they charged us for it and just asked if we were sure it wasn't good. We even told them to trash it. I understand food has a base cost, I know pizza is one of the lower cost foods to make. They are not very generous in the cheese either. The manager should have took the 75 cent cost loss and spared a negative review. I am bitter about it. For sure. It was 14$ for a bite and then garbage. No satisfaction guarantee here. Be aware. I don't think we'll be going back unless they reach out and make an effort to win our business back.

Server attitudes are very hit and miss. Some are attentive, others don't come by to your table until 15 minutes after you've gotten your food to see if you're missing or need anything. I have to honestly say that with each visit here I become more and more disappointed. The food never comes out hot anymore, it is always luke warm or even cold. In addition, plate presentation is awful. My boyfriend ordered a panzeroli and the portion was MUCH smaller than what seemed advertised on the menu, not to mention his one panzeroli was broken and they served it to him anyways on a little side plate. ALSO, I went there on a Monday night and they had run out of Italian wedding soup...... In my opinion, as the largest East Side's in Canada, it does not do a very good job in upholding the reputation that you can expect consistent quality. I am not sure if Waterloo being a student oriented city has anything to do with it.. but if it does, this East Side Mario's should seriously re-evaluate it's current standards.

I was really disappointed both with the food and service. The server was nice but we had to ask multiple times for things, my pasta was not good at all, so she offered to bring out tomato sauce to help the flavor, which she charged me for! My husband got the chicken parm sandwich, which he said one side was so flat it was just crunchy breading and the other side was fine. The kids didn't mind their food, and their meals were only $2 today so we can't complain much there. The 4 of us finished the 2 bread loafs pretty quick and were never offered more, even the salad wasn't very good. It had sliced tomato instead of cherry tomatoes, which was disappointing. Overall we were pretty disappointed and won't be back anytime soon.

I had the menu for lunch, with a soup and a salad, for $10.99. The other option for lunch was a pizza and soup I believe for $9.99. It was edible but not good at all. I ordered the dressing on the side for the salad, but tasted it and did not like it, so I did not use it. Both dishes were tasteless, even if I had extra pepper and cheese on them (it is free. The waitress will ask you if you want some and when to stop)_ You can have as much soup as you want with this menu, but I had enough with 1 plate. Despite a cute decor (North American Italian) I will never go there to eat again, if I can help it. I find the regular menu extremely confusing and long. Now, on the other hand, their wines are rather good.

In any other East Side Mario's we have been, once we are a party of 4, they allow us to order unlimited soup and salad with their large pizza. We've been here many times. ESM is the entry-level sit-down dining experience in town. It can be a pub in the bar, but the restaurant is that - a restaurant. It’s east side mario after all! If you have reasonable expectations and a budget to take care of, it’s great to have all you can eat Italian. I agree it’s not authentic or homemade but this location is a fun place to be. Nice vibe, busy on a Saturday night and cheerful staff. We had a reservation so it was very smooth getting in and finding a table. I was told that without a reservation, the wait is about 1.5 hours long. We had a couple of pastas and a mains along with their unlimited soup and salad. Everything tasted well and the server was very attentive. Overall, a great dinner outing!

Excellent Italian family oriented restaurant with kids seats, crayons, coloring pages that even the adults like to do and a very attentive and knowledgeable staff. They even had a drawer filled with toys for the younger kids as a treat! AaIt was my first visit to my family's goto dining out place and everyone was very happy with their meals. My salmon was perfectly cooked but my pasta and my daughter-in-law's homemade pasta were infinitely better. We ate the leftover pizza later that night and I think it was the best reheated pizza I have ever had! Homemade pasta is a lot of work so I will probably go back when the opportunity arises.

I've lived in Kitchener for 2 years and drove by this location and never went in. Pleasantly surprised by the size and how friendly the staff were. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation, wait time was about 45 minutes. We were seated before the 45 minutes which was great! Our server Ashely was great and the food was pretty good. My sons didn't enjoy their sandwiches, and said the fries wee hollow. Other than that we would definitely come back and bring the entire family.

I've been to this location twice now. The first time was great, service was a little slow, but I've worked in a restaurant and have been in customer service for my whole career, so it wasn't intolerable. The second (and potentially last time), I was very unimpressed with the experience. As soon as we (my partner and I) sat down at at the bar, the staff member that was behind the counter promptly walked away and stood at the entrance staring at her cellphone. She made no effort to acknowledge us, ask us to wait, or even attempt to have someone else speak to us. As we waited for assistance, we became more and more frustrated watching this person stand at the entrance doing nothing. Plain as day this woman was on her cellphone texting and pretending to use the computer. I want to believe that she was doing something work related, but honestly, it looked like she was pretending to be busy, but she wasn't actually tapping on the screen. Once we saw another customer walk up and wait a few minutes for her assistance as she didn't even look up from the cellphone, we couldn't take it anymore and left without a single word to any of the staff members that were present... I don't like complaining about others in the customer service business, but it quickly became unacceptable and I hope this isn't a reoccurring issue.

Having eaten there a handful of times, this restaurant has a unique charm about it. One of my favorite features is the unlimited Cesar salad and bread you get when you order certain foods on the menu. The food is quite nice, the portions are reasonable and not overly expensive for the quality if you factor in the salad and breads. This provides one with the sensation of multiple course meals usually found in Europe. the service is quite excellent as well, the owner has come up and asked us how our meal was, this is a bonus in my eyes as it permits one to voice their opinions directly to the boss as opposed to a waiter, where the message can be altered. The decor is of an Italian chain restaurant but it is quite chic! the drinks are amazing, particularly a favorite of my girlfriend's, the cotton candy martini. I will most definitely return to this location as the staff is more than accommodating of the 3 children we brought, and were more than helpful and understanding with their behaviors and personalities.

Waiters/Waitresses have always been awesome - definitely can't complain about them. The food on the other hand has gone down hill the past few times we've gone. Our most recent visit there wasn't any flavour and little sauce on my wife's cheese cappaletti, and my pizza was basically dry. Saw my pizza sitting out for a good 15 min and then they threw it back in to reheat it. They don't put seasoning on their "famous" bread anymore either (or only enough to say they do) . It's not going to be a 'go-to' restaurant for us anymore, it's not like it's cheap.

They did such a great job with their renovations! It is so modern and updated. The food is typically very good. They always have wonderful deals, and a standard value dinner. I always look forward to visiting for dinner. My only observation is that I saw the guy in the first window - maybe salad prep - drinking a pop while preparing food, and he also opted to listen to music in one ear rather than engage with the guests. I wouldnt want someone preparing my food to be playing with their phone to change songs. Finally, the quality of servers has been hit and miss (like anywhere) in our last visit I sat with an empty drink for the majority of my dining experience, and when she did bring a refill it was Iced Tea and not Diet Pepsi like I ordered.

Honestly the food is great but yet again horrible service. I first sat down to a table that wasn't set properly. Was served my food asked for utensils and honestly sat for close to ten minutes before I got any. Took forever for the salads and they had croutons which I asked for none. We only ever did get two bowls of the all you can eat salads and again that took forever and came wrong. When we finally did get our meal my pasta never included a spoon which I had to ask for. The bathrooms we're disgusting and honestly the service is always horrible for what feels like just us especially when people right next to us get asked for refills and we just sat there hoping for service. At one point we almost just left. The last few times we've gone there the service has been lacking or down right horrible. They were training new staff and they were blamed for why our service was lacking. I just hope the next time our service is better. For our complaint we got a free desert and an appetizer. Which in all honesty is mediocre at best. I forgot to check if they took my discount off. I'm probably going to assume no. I had to give a star to post this but in all honesty I give them a negative star.

My partner and I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and I was shocked at how busy it was. They were understaffed but somehow managed to maintain an acceptable level of service and still give special attention to two tables celebrating birthdays. I ordered lasagna and my partner had a creamy mushroom and chicken penne dish. We both enjoyed our meals and the unlimited Caesar salad. They also have one of my favorite beers on tap: Goose Island IPA. My partner is unable to eat gluten so we appreciate that this restaurant has a gluten free menu and that the staff were attentive to her needs. We were satisfied with our experience and will consider this location again in the future.

Had a great experience tonight. Our server was great. I have been having some random allergic reactions with bagged lettuce (i know super weird and embarrassing) and he went out of his way to get me new lettuce rinsed off thoroughly just so I could eat it. He was on the ball and the manager was also helping out too and super friendly. Food was nice and warm and delicious! We were told we had to wait 25 to 30 minutes for a table and we maybe only waited 15 minutes on a busy Friday. All the servers were great and always smiling. I took the family here for a birthday dinner for my granddaughter last night. Service was very slow (the waitress said they were understaffed, not our problem). My daughters food had a hair in it and when she brought it to their attention, the manager stared at it for a while and finally asked what she would like done about it. At that point everyone was almost done their dinner! My other daughters food was cold, my brother and my wife ordered the same meal but the meals were different? They forgot some peppers in my brothers so they brought them out separately. Stated that I guess the cook put everything in one meal and not the other! When they asked if we wanted cheese on our food, we were half finished! My daughter asked for light dressing on her salad, so it came with NO dressing! The garden salad was just iceberg lettuce, nothing else in it! Extremely disappointing family experience!

Had a wonderful lunch at East Side Mario's today. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. She got us a table right away. Our server's name was Maya. She was super friendly and knowledgeable. Even with her mask on, you could tell she was smiling and enjoying her job. I am a Keto(low carb diet) girl, so Maya suggested the Roasted Garlic BLT Cauliflower Pizza. I added Spicy Italian Sausage to it. She was right, the pizza was terrific! The crust didn't even taste like Cauliflower. Loved it!! My husband got the Calamari al Diablo and he said it was very good. Our server came to check on us several times and made sure we had everything we needed. She was very attentive. We haven't eaten at East Side Mario's in a very long time (just because it is a little out of the way for us) but we will definitely be going back again The food was great and the service was wonderful. The hostess(I wish I knew her name) and our server, Maya were terrific. And hats off to the chef who made our food.

Poorly staffed, if servers cannot handle more than 5 tables at a time, ensure there are more staffed during lunch. Sat and waited 20 minutes even thought there were at least 7 clean and vacant tables visible from the waiting area. We asked to be seated anyway with the understanding that service would be delayed. Was advised it would be too stressful in the servers to see us waiting there. It is the Friday before Christmas, forecast and schedule staff accordingly.

Zero stars as we never received our order. We put a group order in at our workplace and after 3 hours, were told they were still backed up and our order would be a while. After several calls with them, all indicating it would be a while still, we were finally told they did not receive the order. We had waited around over 4 hours for these orders and everyone was starving. We were not impressed to say the least. Don't think our company will ever be placing an order here again. In the future, the restaurant should probably not continuously promise food will be ready in just a bit longer while making an entire office of people wait around for them to boil pasta and after 4 hours fail miserably.

I had a horrible experience today. My boyfriend and I went to pick up our order that we placed a day before. We had pick up for 5:30 and didn’t get our food until 6:30. That was issue number 1.... the other issue was that I was picking up an order for my mom as well. We got home and both orders were COMPLETELY wrong. My boyfriend and I both ordered different BYO pasta meals, soup, salad and bread. We ended up with dessert, two chicken parm meals, a different soup and mozzarella sticks. Nothing we ordered was in the bag. The manager was telling people to cancel their meals when they were complaining to him. When I was trying to talk to someone about where our food was, there was nobody to be found. I called the call center and made a complaint and was told that the only way I can get a refund is through the store... but they won’t pick up their phone. I love East Sides but spending an hour in the parking lot to receiver two incorrect, COLD orders on Valentine’s Day was absolutely Un-acceptable. Not to mention I was told they got too many orders to keep up. But that’s not an excuse when I placed the order the day before.

I was there for a Christmas party using their party room down stairs.. I have to say it should be an embarrassment to eastside Mario's . The bar tender had no clue and did not have the same choices as up stairs . When the apps where served there wasn't enough for everyone. It left more then a few without. Dinner was good though. All and all it left me thinking if I was planning a holiday party, East Side Mario's will not be on my list.

We are regulars there and we love it. The food is amazing and when it's not they will simply change it. I remember once my girlfriend had the usual (farfale with rosée sauce and veggies) and for some reason they had dried tomatoes in it (which is unusual and she dislike it) and they gladly took the plate and gave us a free app. They are very busy on Friday though.

East Side Mario's just reopened after closing several months ago. They have made some renovations including opening up some walls so it feels like one big room now. The service was good and the restaurant was very busy. The food was good and the portions were reasonably sized for what we paid.

ESM used to be my favorite dinner out. All you can eat salad and fresh bread loaves.. Amazing... My last visit though, the bread has changed, it's lacking the flavor it once had and while the salad was fine, the main course portions have shrunk considerably since the last time I went there. Another issue I have with ESM is that they don't stock Cajun spice, I have no idea how they operate without it but they seem to.

Food was tasty, but the all you can eat bread and salad is a bit of a scam. It is more like you get one roll of bread and some salad... at the same time as your main course. With that said refills are not quite easy either, had to ask the server for refills... and came back with the wrong drinks. The restaurant wasnt busy, and the food came out fast but there service was brutal. Stacking the empty plates onto the already sticky table and having a spider crawl out of the plate was just not appetizing. East Side Mario's has sadly gone down hill.

Went there for lunch, had to be back for work quick so I told the server if we can get our food faster. She was very helpful and food came quickly, i ordered spicy sausage penne. Pasta is a little bit too heavy for my liking.

Update: Dine in is allowed. All the menu items are available. Tried Jumbo shrimp pasta for the first time, it was very good. ESM is always one of my favourite ones in Waterloo. I love their all you can eat offer, because I can go big on Soup & Salad. They have a variety of main dishes e.g. pastas, sandwiches, pizza with some special options. The patio is open so you can dine in here, although at this time they are not allowing indoor sitting. The menu is a little bit limited now but I would say it covers most of the dishes. If you are SCENE holder, you can redeem some points to get discounts on you bill.

Food sat in the window for 6 1/2 minutes. Pasta was cold, dry & gummy.Received bubba hamburger with dry bun and meat only. Fries were limp, greasy. On the plus side Caesar salad was good. I mark this restaurant as "never again"

Kids love it. Our go-to nice family restaurant. Possible to get a cheap simple pasta with unlimited soup or salad and of course garlic bread. Have always had good service when we have been. Definitely hard to get a table at peak hours though.

Went here today. They had a ton of tables open on the patio. When i showed up with my family they said i had to wait for 30mins even then it wasnt the proper table size. We then asked if we could split the party into 2 tables, each table on the opposite side of the patio. They said we could take one but would have to wait for 30mins for the second table. Made no sense. First you say i have to wait then i ask to split and i can get one table but have to wait 30mins for the second. Horrible service

All you can eat soup or salad and loaves of fresh bread make a great start to a meal! Lots of room to accommodate for COVID rules and the service is fast and friendly. I only wish the firecracker and bowtie shrimp dish was still on the menu.

Someone who obviously doesn't know good fish and chips, recommended that we have the fish and chips at East Side Marios. What a mistake. One of us tried cod while the other tried haddock. The cod was soaking wet, not crispy as you would expect fish that had been cooked properly. The haddock was not wet, but it also was not crispy. Both of us tried their wedges, which were also not crispy, just limp. We have to assume there are either no standards for food preparation at East Side Marios, or there is absolutely no pride in food preparation nor checking that is is prepared properly, or there is inadequate and improper training. We got to watch two immature employees hugging each other in front of patrons that were dining. Talk about no standards at East Side Marios. It is very apparent, that managament lacks the ability to "manage". We hope that Cara does something about the management, or lack of management at this restaurant. It sure made us wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen, if the staff don't care about the quality of the product they present to the customer.

This has remained a favorite haunt of mine for 20 years. I find there is real consistency in product and service from location to location, and visit to visit. It's not low end but not pricey either and you can go dressed up or in your casual clothes and feel equally comfortable. The bread and salad prior to entrees are to die for. A really well done presentation altogether!

It was my first time to eat here! My husband likes this restaurant(he has been to different locations). The service was great, taste was good. Their bread was very tasty! We could get free soup at lunch time. My husband said it was small portions because it was the first time for him to visit at lunch time, but the price is cheaper too. My daughter got kids burgers, it comes with dessert at the end. She loved everything there!

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. The staff member I spoke with was extremely unprofessional. I had to go in three times before I received my full correct order and when I politely mentioned that the original food I had picked up a half hour before I received the rest of my order was now cold, I got the response “well we’re pretty busy so it’s whatever” in which I responded “well I guess I’ll just go eat my cold food then?” And he said “I guess so” then watched him instruct a different staff member to bring me the rest of my order so he wouldn’t have to see me again. At least saying sorry for the three times I had to go in would have been nice.

Hostess took us throughout the entire restaurant only to retrace our steps back to the front. Restaurant was empty yet we were seated in a rather busy area. We had three food requests that weren't available. Ended up ordering the salmon (as it was BOTO.. yet we only could eat the salmon as we are Pescatarian). Amidst eating our bread and salad, the waitress informed us that the salmon was frozen and unable to eat. She would not substitute anything else for the BOTO deal so we left. We were still charged for eating the bread and Salad. We spent way too long to get nothing. Avoid the waterloo location on king street.

I never had East Side Marios until me and my friends decided to come here after its renovations. First and foremost, this is comfort food central! The staff and waiters are incredibly nice, the restaurant is clean, new and bustling with customers. Me and my gf come here on gloomy days for a filling uplift :)

Reservations are best on the weekends. Chelsea was our server and she was AWESOME!!! She kept us well topped up with our drinks, filled with bread and salads. Our orders were perfectly delivered all together and hot!! The giant cookie pizza was a good finisher for our foursome!!!

Had bad experiences at a previous ESM. Worst restaurant ever.. Had to take 10 minutes to get the waiter to come take my order and took it wrong. Clearly asked for mixed peppers on my pizza and asked for thick crust. Instead after waiting close to 40 minutes, got a pizza with pepperoni, and thin crust. Tasted awful. Manager also spilled tomato sauce on my friend's jacket. Plus, the pizza was very soggy. Overall, extremely slow service. I REALLY recommend you to NOT come here.

The table next to ours had arrived after us, was served before us. We all ordered the same salad, and were each served individual large salads, instead of the traditional large salad for us to share from the middle. I ordered Mario's Spaghetti and Meatballs. Never again. Cheap sauce, and those meatballs were definitely canned. My boyfriend's penne were starchy and under cooked, but the chicken was good. Our companion luckily had no complaints with her lasagna dish. The waitress messed up our drinks (serving them incorrectly, not a large problem) but upon the refill, she gave me something that tasted a mix of my drink (iced tea) and our companions diet Pepsi. Very unimpressed. Will not be returning any time soon!

Went for the buy one bring one home special. Food was not great service was terribly slow. I get that the buy one take one home would be expensive as you get two meals so no complaints there it was the service and the atmosphere that was not the best. Didn't even have the hockey game on, they were playing commentators on NBA analysis.

Have always enjoyed the food here...but I must say it wasn't very good today...bread, salad and Fra Diablo calamari was good. Ordered the veal parmesan and was very disappointed..basically because the veal was way too overdone!! We could hardly cut it with a sharp knife and it was just put on the plate with a little sauce and cheese with spaghetti on the side..not the way it should be done. That veal should have been fork tender if it was cooked properly..we were not happy with this meal.

Great food. Staff are friendly and courteous, The restaurant looks a bit tire, its clean but could use a refresh. My favourite item on the menu is the Hells Kitchen Chicken, its spicy but loads of flavour. If you like spice give it a try.
