Visiting from Alberta and I absolutely NEEDED to have sushi while near the ocean. I ordered chop scallop and sockeye salmon with avocado rolls as well as sockeye salmon and toro sashimi. Very fast service, super fresh, and friendly, patient staff who was very kind when my friend and I were too busy catching up to even look at the menu. Prices are very good compared to home, I was pleasantly surprised at the bill.

Not good but not the worst. The rice was ok and the rolls were rolled tightly, which is nice. Crab Sunomono salad was tasteless and so disappointing, even though it was a big portion. The deep fried octopus also dissaponting. Miso was fine and the table next to us had noodle dishes that looked tastey. Service was excellent, and our sever was attentive and kind.

Worst sushi place in the valley. Roll are sloppy and loose. Not fresh at all ex: avocados are dark insted of being green and ferm. Salmon is.... I don't recommend this place.

Almost every dish I've had here has been exceptional, and the ones that weren't were all at least good. The staff is so friendly and polite and funny, the restaurant has always been clean. The booths are comfortable and even if there's a lot of full tables the noise level is quite reasonable. It is rather expensive, but acceptable for the quality. The amount of food you get is suitable for the price too. Everything I've had there has always been fresh.

Though there might be a host of other reviews rating this place to be an excellent choice for sushi to eat, I would counsel you to receive this counsel of my post above them all. Eat at Sushi Wara if you happen to be minded to eat sushi in the Comox valley; and never eat or consider to eat from Seh mi ever. I would rate them to not have a single star rating if I could, and write this post at the same time. I thank you kindly for your consideration and was glad to learn the hard way for you.

Our family got katsu don, yakisoba, galbi, toro sashimi, takoyaki, halibut tempura, and a few maki rolls. Every single dish tasted pretty good. Service is decent but could be improved. We asked for no onions in one of the dishes and they forgot.

Seh-mi was a nice stop for us in between destinations. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They were a bit short staffed when we visited so the service was a touch slower than we'd expect, but not so much as to cause a problem. We ordered two different types of meals here -- sushi nigiri and rolls, and a bento box. The sushi/fish was very fresh, and the rolls were well prepared and tasty. The bento box was a teriyaki chicken box, and had the full compliment of items. California roll on one side, teriyaki chicken on fried vegetables, and nice salad, and some yummy vegetable and shrimp tempura. The atmosphere was pleasant, although it was a bit cold in the restaurant. It was rather cold outside though, being one of the coldest days of the year, so it could have simply been for that reason. Otherwise, a great place to grab a fresh lunch for a very reasonable price.

I do not recommend this place. The sushi rice which I was served was cold and flaky, which lacked taste and stickiness. It was falling off the sushi rolls. Also the avocado was over ripe and discolored and the fish has a strong unpleasant smell to it. Far from good Japanese food.

The true test of a wonderful dining experience is the presentation and taste of the food offered, and this resturant offers it in spades. There are artists in the kitchen and servicing staff that orchestrate a quiet efficient atmosphere that only enhances your meal. Portion size and price are remarkably good. The Bento Box, which is always my favorite, was a real winner for me and will entice me to go back again and again.

Nothing beats authentic Japanese food with nice dining in or take out... Only issue is styrofoam containers are a thing of the past but most sushi or Indian restaurant s on Vancouver Island still use these old styrofoam containers so my advise is eat in instead everytime.

My first time at Seh-mi for dinner and was very impressed with the food. We were seated immediately and service was friendly. We started with the veggie spring rolls and they were excellent. They arrived hot and light tasting and not greasy. Main meals were the veggie dynamite roll and california roll with smoked salmon. I can't wait to go back to try one of the mainy other items on their menu.

The place is nicely decorated. But we had a bad experience as the imitation crab meat was old and made my partner very, very sick. We had to call an ambulance to collect her, which is difficult enough with the quarantine. The crab was old and the chicken tasted of dog. Do not reccomend.

I went to this restaurant on Friday September 4th at 1:30 for lunch. I was told I had to wait outside in the hot sun until they could get a table ready for me which was ridiculous as the restaurant was empty. The restaurant was empty except for 2 tables, and I resented being asked to leave and wait outside in the hot sun when they easily could have seated me and took my lunch order. There was also a lady outside with a young child standing in the hot sun, and had been waiting for some time. She also indicated it was lousy service to send people outside to wait when the restaurant was so empty during lunch time, with most of the tables available!! Terrible service and a rude reception suggested they should not be open!!

I enjoy going here quite a bit however sometimes it feels like a gamble. 3 times I've gotten sashimi (usually the tuna) that's almost crunchy it's so cold. Happened twice in the chirashi bowl and once in a bento box. I still love their food (udong soups and their many delicious rolls), I just usually steer clear of sashimi.

I love Seh-mi. The staff is always really lovely, and the food is on point. Great serving sizes for the price, and it's always fresh. And if you want to try something different I recommend the obanzai. It's fun to sit and try a bunch of different dishes in small form. It looks like a lot of food at first, but the servings are perfect for lunch.

The place says they close at 9pm. We showed up at 8pm and they said they close at 8:30pm, even though the sign says 9pm. They advised they were closed early because they ran out of rice. What kind of sushi place runs out of rice? If they skimp out on buying rice, makes you wonder what else they cut corners on. Will not be going back.

We ordered two dinners along with a couple of add-ons. The chicken teriyaki was good however the beef teriyaki was dry and had a burnt taste. I quite enjoyed the sunomono salad and the sashimi but will not order the beef again
