Excellent pho! The only explanation I can think of for the bad reviews is that those people have never been to a pho restaurant before. I found the service very friendly and prompt - albeit minimal by north american standards (as in don't expect much one-on-one attention or chit-chat with your server.) This is how I like a pho restaurant to be - come in for delicious soup, have a seat without much wait, be given a glass of water, check the menu, give my order, receive my order (relatively quickly compared to say a pub or steakhouse), enjoy a delicious meal, pay and leave. That is exactly how it went at Saigon Noodle House, even when the restaurant was very busy on a Friday evening (pretty much "packed" in house, plus many people coming in to pick up take-out orders.) Prices are very average for pho - $9-10 for a bowl of soup, $12-$15 for an entree. I had a beef noodle soup and it was excellent (yummy taste, good portions, solid meat to noodle ratio), served with the proper garnishes of sprouts, basil, and lime wedge. The only thing I didn't realize before eating is that it is *CASH ONLY* (no debit, no credit), but the waitress was friendly about it so it was really no issue with ATM's nearby. I'm looking forward to next time :)

I have tried their pho, the soup was dark and smelling. It looked like it was scrapped from the bottom of a barrel and the service was not good. The order taker woman was not listening to what I was saying and she was exchanging loud words with someone in the kitchen; I had to repeat my order three or four times.

I have to say, I am lover of food! But this place is not what I call a restaurant or even an establishment for dining by any means. I like hot freshly served dishes but not when all you can taste is oil. My rice was swimming in oil, my wife's soup was even worse! She had to scoop out oil globs that were heavily floating the top of the bowl. It was made poorly by not straining the oil out at the end, which just shows how lazy whoever is making the food. If I am paying $26 for 1 soup and 1 rice dish with maybe 6 pieces of beef very thinly sliced like bulgogi but not even close to the size or length of bulgogi, then at least cook it to perfection and don't present the dish like you just scraped everything off the pan as if your are about to feed the dog. It had good flavor, but it wasn't edible, the soup could have easily been mistaken for water from a sewer well, with meat and vegetables floating in it and the rice with so called beef stir fry was so little in portion that it was only for a quick bite and that is if I decided to finish it. I only picked at what I could salvage that was somewhat edible but still so drenched in oil. After we waived down the man who seems to be the owner he said "that it's because the the water and oil from the meat and vegetables come out after its done being cook in a stir fry" then walked away after we said it's not edible and its unacceptable. I can create these dishes at home 10x better, but I just came back from vacation and was hoping to try a new place and hoping for a new good experience, which was definitely not the case. Nooooo apology or even recognition that he is serving horrible dishes and expecting naive customers to think that this is what Vietnamese food is suppose to be. Whoever gave good reviews must be friends, relatives, or those who love to ingest oil in every single bite, or is completely naive to what real Vietnamese food tastes like. I have traveled all over the world, including a few places in Vietnam and they served food I still dream about! This place is a joke compared to at best a welfare community food service. Overall it was horrible food and horrible service. I went across the parking lot to Wendy's and they had better food and service compared to this place. Shame!

Absolutely disgusting service. Many years ago I went here when I was a teenager. The waitress brought me the wrong dish. Immediately after, the older vietnamese man working there comes over to my table and aggressively says to me "You have to pay for that!!!" even though it is something I didnt order. I was only a teenager and the time, and did not realize I was under no obligation to pay for something I did not order. I want to emphasize how aggressive this old bully was. That being said, I do not know if that same man works there, if not then it is possible the service could have improved.

I have waited a few weeks to post this review. I didn't want to post it for various reasons: but now that I see a few other customers have had poor experiences here, I feel emboldened to share mine. I came in for lunch at Saigon Noodle House, a few weeks ago. It was just after noon. The restaurant was quite full, but I noticed that one "two seater" table was still empty and available. The waiter asked me how many people I was expecting. I said "Just me", and he waved a lazy hand towards the long "cafeteria-style" table in the centre of the floor (which is designed to seat a variety of groups of many sizes, from single-eaters, to groups of 5 or 6, depending on how busy the establishment is, at the time). I appreciated that it was lunch-hour, and the establishment had a potential demand to fill that last remaining two-seater table: so took the spot indicated at the end of the cafeteria table, and waited to be served. Moments later, a man walked into the establishment. Upon being asked by the waiter how many people he was expecting, and receiving the response "Just me", this man was placed at the aforementioned last-available "two-seater" table. I was shocked. As I sat and waited to be served a water, this man was both served a water, and had the pleasure of having his order taken. More customers rolled-in, and my order was still not taken. As I sat there with waning patience, I began to notice that male customers, whether they were single or with a woman or group, were referred to as "sir", whereas women alone, and groups of women, earned no such respectful "title" (such as "miss" or "ma'am"). Eventually, I was asked for my order in an off-hand way, as though I was barely worth the waiter's time. I received my meal, ate it, gave no tip, and have chosen to never return. I'm not entirely sure that the waiters at this restaurant specifically disrespect women. I certainly felt insulted by my experience, but I've also read a few men on this page say they've experienced similar rudeness. So let's just conclude that customer service and fair treatment (like the concept of "first-come, first-served") are not paramount priorities for the staff at SNH.

And then accepting CASH only in this age (not mentioning it's the least sanitary form of payment)? Weird and sketchy. And a rude careless staff member behind the counter on top of that. If you're into Vietnamese: this is a pretty solid choice. 100% order salad rolls! They're probably my favorite item from this place, fresh tasting and delicious. Spring rolls are great too. Only shy of 5 stars because it's always difficult to remember to have cash in order to pay for food.

YOU OWE ME GAS MONEY! We live about 20min out of town. We decided that today would be a great day for Pho.I checked Google and other search engines and they all said you are open. Well we arrived and to our major disappointed you guys were closed. I understand that people need days off but when we come to a restaurant that is said to be open and your not....I think you owe me some gas money. Sure, you don't get half a basil plant and a bowl the size of a hubcap like you do in the lower mainland, but the island doesn't have the high turnover of restaurant goers that would support those kinds of profit margins. Overall better than the maple house noodle place.

Reliable, fast, flavourful and friendly service at a very reasonable price. Have been going for years and will continue to do so. I noticed a couple reviews were stating bland or flavourless food but that is why you have many options for condiments such as hoisin, chili paste and fish sauce which packs a punch! You can adjust the spice and salt levels to your choice with a variety of sauces spices and herbs. They do good work there! Actually 4.5 stars.

I have read some of the comments made by others that have eaten at the the SNH. Here's my opinion. Great place to eat, inexpensive meals and generally quick service. They have, what I like to call, international seating. If a seat is empty, you take a seat. It's like that in most places around the world except North America. A great way to meet people. If you feel neglected and are not willing to get the waiters attention then this may not be the place for you.

Had pho, spring rolls, and rice and beef bowl. The pho is not the best not the worst. There was barely any noodles in the soup the broth is bland and only came with sliced white onion and nothing else which was weird. The rice bowl was very small and bland not enough to fill you up. And the spring rolls were nice and crunchy but that was about it. Probably wont go back:(

Prices are much higher in the restaurant than on this web site. When I asked the owner about it he claimed that this web site was not his. He said a customer much have posted it???? Sounds like a typical "Bait & Switch". Other than that the food was ok.
