I went here with my family including my infant son, we had an amazing time. Great portion sizes for a good price. All of our meals where very good. The waiter was very accommodating for our son, including trying to make him laugh and playing with him. Highly recommend.

Amazing fried chicken. I got the 6 peice chicken stripes, feeling plain and lazy. I was surprised by amazing tasting chicken stripes. Not soggy, or too crispy. And juicy real chicken. Whatever you are doing. Keep doing it.

I ordered takeout through skip the dishes, 2 BC bennies and noticed there wasn't an option for stuffed hashbrowns which happen to be my all time favorite. I added in the comments to make the hashbrowns stuffed and I would happily pay the difference. Shortly after placing my order, a skip the dishes representative called me explaining I would need to go with regular hashbrowns as they could not adjust the price. Bummer, but no problem. I agreed & expected normal hashbrowns. To my surprise upon opening the bag the kitchen went above and beyond by making the stuffed hash anyhow!! You guys are amazing. Totally made my week, props to you.

We at your restaurant on Monday July 29th for lunch, had your California sandwich it was the worst I ever had. It was messy and every poorly put together. After getting back home to Coombs was so sick. I was up all night. I am 73 and I feel if you are paying for something to eat you should not get so sick. Never be back.

I have to say the service and food is terrible. Whether they are busy or not, it always takes forever to get your food. Plus, they never get your order right. We are here now, no one here now and it has taken 35mins to get our order which came out wrong. So now waiting even more. Stay away ... Not worth your time or money!

My milkshake was literally milk lol. There was no icecream in it or if there had been it long ago melted away due to the slow service. My daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese and it was Kraft dinner... Beer was room temp and I suspect they might have a refrigerator issue.

Ok, surprisingly good! They renovated the place a year ago and I still only saw our most venerable citizens inside so paid it no mind. Then my gf pulled me in and it's essentially like a Smitty's, only better. Good food and service was also pretty good considering she was the only one working.

Absolutely terrible experience. Waited an hour and paid 30 bucks for 2 half waffles and a greasy disgusting chicken burger with fake processed cheese on it. Upside is the place was nice and clean but the service is terrible. Entitled rude waitress rolling and widening her eyes and getting snooty when customers say they've been waiting a long time. Even to be seated or to order. I had 5 bites of my burger and mentioned it was bad but she didn't really care. I don't like to complain or send things back so of course I sucked it up and took the 20 buck hit. 3 people that came after us ate and left before we even got ours. Would not return. Completely unimpressed. Probably will avoid the chain all together because of this experience.

disappointing-but not really surprising. Two of us came today for breakfast. Place almost empty (it was a Monday if that makes a difference). We ordered and were given our coffees. The coffee had virtually no flavour, was almost tepid and I could only drink a few sips before asking for a new cup. Waitress not concerned when I said it had come to me less than hot. Our food arrives - I ordered Chorizo sausage and egg something. Sounded good and a little spicy. It was so greasy-hashbrowns underneath all the sauce etc that they were mush. A bland hollandaise slopped over everything covered up any flavours that might have been there. I ate less than half and just couldn't look at it anymore. No comment or concern from the waitress when I left so much in bowl. And I clearly like to eat! And my bill came to almost $20 - really?For breakfast? * and i dare you to walk normally on their laminate floors-walking to the washroom and I felt as if I'd had a few drinks as my footing was so unsteady and sure enough, on a dry day my hiking shoes were slipping with every step. - I can't see why I would try this place a 2nd time.

IT was horrible It took 45 minutes just to get the food and then they brought me the wrong food. And then it took another 30 minutes to get the replacement burger but it was still wrong! And the burger was suppose to come with a fruit crumble but it took so long we had to leave without it. Also they blamed it on the fact that the cooks were hungover from Canada day!

We came in for a quick meal and my partner ordered the poutine. The portion was tiny, had cold, soggy fries, and the gravy looked lumpy. Not to be rude, but it literally looked like someone had diahorrea on a plate of fries. He lost his appetite the moment he looked at it. The looks were not decieving, to say the least. We had about 3 bites or so out of it before tapping out. It looks like we ate a lot more but literally, that's the size of the $7.99 poutine with the soggy, cold "fresh cut fries" they were promoting. :( I ordered a french onion soup, which wasn't wasn't bad, just very salty. Aside from our not so great food, the service was friendly and fast with our orders.

Poor and incompetent service. After the hostess finally arrived, I requested a table for 5 . This was Aug 10 about 11:30 am. There were no tables for five available. However, there were tables for 4, but they were not willing to move tables together or add one chair to the table for 4. The hostess went to a waitress, but she said she was not willing to accommodate another party of 5. I have never heard of this before. The hostess indicated it would be about a 20 minute to wait for a table for five (while there were empty tables). Also, she indicated because they were 'busy', it would be about a half hour wait to get our food. It was pretty evident they didn't want any more customers. While this was going on , five other potential customers left. In essence, they lost 10 customers....and again there were empty tables. WOW. We had to be at the airport by 1:30. We couldn't wait. Thank goodness I was going back to Alberta. I will never be back at this restaurant.

If I was able to rate 0 I would, but 1 it is. Our order was two burger meals, a kids ceaser wrap meal, a poutine and side French onion soup. The order was 1 hour and a half, almost 2 hours. To make, the driver made it to our house in 12 minutes. When we got it, the food was hot still, so the driver did fantastic. The food however, was abysmal and I will never order from Ricky's again. Both our burgers were a mess when we got them, put of place all over the box. They had no flavor on the meat. It was almost like they forgot to salt and pepper the beef. Or any flavor for that matter. The sauce also had no flavor, and yes my palete is fine I do not have Covid. This food is just a little salty with the flavor of bread and oil. The poutine was soggy fries, a thin layer of Gravy, and four cheese small curds. 4! The French onion soup tasted like burnt onion water, with no salt. It had a thick layer of a gross bread that covered the entire top, and almost half the thickness of the cup. The curly fries for one of the burgers, didn't have curly fry seasoning. It was the tiniest amount of salt and the fries weren't curly, just.. slightly curved. The wrap had barely any sauce, and the flavor was just in the Tortilla wrap itself. My son who eats everything, had to add salt and pepper, as well as ceaser to be happy with it. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD. Now if you want flavorless cardboard that's overpriced. It's the perfect joint.

Also some people ordered side dishes didn't receive it .never again I won't recommend anybody to go there.very poor. I wish I could only give you a tip or less than a full star.

Feb. 15 we waited at the door and finally we're seated by a woman who was on a mission to fix a table. It was upside down and she was screwing it together. We were seated and we told the special wine Wednesday. We wait, thought they may offer us water, coffee, or even wine special? Not! There were 2 girls on the floor, and 6 tables total.we waited some more and got a bit upset that no one returned. After fifteen minutes of checking my watch we left. Appearantly they don't want my business.she was kinda busy with her back to us chatting at a table she seemed familiar with. My guess is the service is terrible, but u can't say for sure, w never had any.i will recommend this place to people, recommend you go somewhere else.poor!

My partner and I came for dinner on a Monday. Service was friendly enough, but we were not offered any water. Food was a long wait and we were so disappointed with what we got. My partner got a soggy, almost empty wrap with literally less than a handful of fries. I got questionable chicken that made me feel sick. All this for $40. Won't be coming again

We decided to try Ricky’s again. What a horrible mistake!!! It use to be a great place to eat but since Tena is no longer manager it has gone to hell in a handbasket. We waited 20 minutes after being seated for the server come over and ask us if we wanted drinks By that time we were ready to order We ordered an appetizer, my husband ordered Prime Rib and I went for the Hunter Schnitzel. I asked for no Red Cabbage on my plate. Approximately 45 minutes later EVERYTHING was brought out together!!! An appetizer is BEFORE your meal NOT with it. My meal was wrong as it had the Red Cabbage NOT the veggies as ordered. We sent the appetizer back along with my meal. Another 20 minutes later the proper meal came The Schnitzel was tough as shoe leather!! The Prime Rib was mediocre and the veggies we’re GREASY!! It was an AWFUL dining experience!!! ????????

I came in for dinner with a couple of my friends a while back as a celebration for passing my first term of college. We were immediately greeted by one of either the servers or host upon entering the building. Our table was clean and organized. about a minute later after we ordered our drink they appeared. I had a ceaser and man was it good. For dinner i had the New York Steak i think it was called. Normally at a restaurant i would have to wait until my next birthday for it to arrive but all the food was done within 30 minutes. Keep in mind we were a group of 4 youngsters. Everything tasted amazing. so much that its a ritual now to come back after every big moment in out life.

Ordered through door dash. the food I received was cold, and the burger tasted like a mustard bottle ( all I can taste is mustard still ) . this was all minor compared to what happened when I phoned. The lady on the phone told me that they would get a manager to phone me in the morning. when i asked for any supervisor she said they didn't have any. when I asked what I should do with the burger , she said she didn't know, when I explained that I was hungry and expected to eat some time tonight she kept saying someone would phone ( but not tonight) . full disclosure, at this point I was hungry and getting short. The employee would not commit to getting info today. As a final cheery on top, she hung up on me after incorrectly taking my contact information. This place has gone way downhill and can take the nope train to never again.

This was once a decent place. The current staff terrible..no coffee refills..you see them once..the food has half what it once did ...small portions black salad..had to go directly to the kitchen to ask for napkins coffee and condiments. Won't go back ever.

I was there a while ago. Wasn't happy at all with fish and chips. Friend convinced me to go back there for breakfast today and was blown away by the difference! They were all very nice and so helpful.(there was a issue with my friends vax card whitch they helped clear up right away!)And the food was amazing!! Loved the eggs Benedict!!!!!

Excellent meals again on Fathers Day June 2020, I Had the California Chicken Burger with Maple Bacon, Guacamole, Pepper Jack cheese and Sweet Potatoe fries served with Cajun Garlic Aioli, and dip. Absolutely delicious! I have had excellent meals there always for the past 4 years I have been going there for lunches, breakfast or dinner. Fast and friendly staff and the coffee is good and strong. I like going there, love the new renos and takeout service counter. That Aioli Cajun sauce is amazing! 5 Stars.

Even in these times, Ricky's always gets our vote. Never have we had a bad meal on our travels to Courtenay. Today proved no different!! An amazing server, (wish I could remember her name) and probably the best Clubhouse sandwich I have ever had!! And the soup!! Potato corn chowder (something like that anyways) that we've never had before, was scrumptious!! If you need a place for a good meal, fast friendly service, then Ricky's is the place for you to go!!

Went last night for dinner didn't take long to be seated. We were given our menus we ordered our drinks and an appy to start. Didn't take long for our drinks and appy to come out (Chicken Strips are amazing). Kids ordered the radical bacon cheeseburger which is HUGE both of them found it to be very delicious well worth the price for sure. I ordered the 8oz New York striploin with mashed taters. My steak was cooked to perfection by far the best steak i have had in a long while that is for sure Kudos to the Chef. Our Server (Tammy) was amazing also she always made sure we had everything we needed our drinks were always topped up, and was very friendly and always had a big smile on her face.I will be back again for sure!!!

Arrived at 855, 5 minutes before open with my 5 year old. She was branching out from our usual breakfast spot to try something new. A female employee turned the "open" sign on so we headed to the front door. After 10 minutes in the cold it was now 905 and a table with 3 men sat inside looking at us and carrying on in conversation. We knocked, pulled the door and walked halfway around the building peering in to see what the issue was. At 910 we left to go to our usual place with my child vowing to never return because they "made her wait in the cold for nothing" I called after to find a shocked staff member but thought management or owner would like to know the neglect their staff showed this morning Will not be trying again as I wouldn't want for made by people like that. Avoid this and go somewhere local that cares

Bad bad place. WAIT to be seated, totally ignored at the door staff just kept walking by us. Finally we asked someone to be seated. WAIT for food took over 1 hour to get our food. WAIT for the server to do a quality check bacon burnt eggs so overcooked they feel like rubber. WAIT for the check finally got up and stood at desk had to go and ask 2 people wandering around if we could pay. WAIT to speak with a manager which never showed up to speak with us. Finally tried Rickys! it was a good experience and Would visit again! The bad: -Didn’t enjoy how the coffee tasted and it wasn’t hot. Wasn’t a fresh pot. -Avocado was on the darker side. Also lacked freshness. The good: -Service was on point. Friendly, timely, and attentive. -Clean environment.

Went in today at 12 20 waited 5 min to get seated no one else in line. Sat at table for 20 min no water no coffee no service restaurant not busy One girl on she had to seat clean tables take orders and deliver food. Restaurant was in comox . We finally got up and left.

The last 3 times I went for a quick lunch on my lunch break it took over 5 to 10 minutes for coffee for each visit. Over 45 mins for food to arrive. And there were only a few tables eating. Food is always good. Service is friendly but not very quick unfortunately. Defi lately had changed alot since a few years ago.

Not the best breakfast . Plate was missing 1 of the 3 bacon and all 3 sassauges as well as toast that was supposed to come with grand forks breakfast. Toast was brought eventually but clearly was toasted long time ago and sitting waiting for next person to have toast it was hard as hockey puck and to cold the butter wasn't even close to melting. Toast also had green gooey stuff on few Peace's from something else in kitchen I guess. Second batch was perfect actually freshly toastd.

When they don't make you wait 15 minutes to make an order, and in the off chance they get your order right, it will probably be... Just alright. I've never been blown away by this place, and I don't feel like I have high standards. I tend to go with family just so we can see if they ever break out of the sheer mediocrity that we've come to expect. Decent breakfast bowls though.

Went today for lunch and was basically forgot about at our table. Arrived at noon and brought water and menus. After 20 minutes someone finally came and took our order (not our server). After 30 minutes of waiting our server told us our lunch was just coming up. 15 minutes later it finally came... We spent over an hour total until we got our lunch. Definitely not worth the wait and bad service.

Terrible... Again. We keep trying to give them another chance and it is terrible. A solid 15 minutes had us leaving with not even an offer of water. The service is always bad in the evening. Worse since the renovation. We won't be back again.

We like Ricky's it usually has good service and good food depending on the location. We weren't impressed when we first moved to Courtenay (last December) with this location, but it has improved somewhat and based on our last meal there I would have given it a 5 star had this actually been our first time there. I went in for breakfast today just after 11am. The hostess approached me and I said "table for one please." Her response was "Thats OK, nothing wrong with that." Excuse me? Why would there EVER be anything wrong with dining alone? I have been a few times and some of the wait staff seems very out of touch with social cues, but it didn't bother me too much. But this one was very off putting, and I won't be returning.

Food was simple but good. Menu is abit over priced for some items. For example 16 Dollar Chicken and waffles.... I ate a simple breakfast so nothing to complain about. Great place if your in the area and don't want to travel, although a short walk over to the early bird and you'll be in better hands.

Hadn't been to Ricky's in yearrrss, since the one in my hometown closed during a year-long renovation to the mall it was in (I imagine it just couldn't survive the substantially reduced traffic). My server was excellent as was the quality of my meal. The prices were higher than anticipated but my frame of reference for their menu is at least eight years old. I was a little disappointed that a fair number of selections from years gone by have been removed and replaced by other dishes, and I was wholey disheartened by the replacement of their signature ridged steak-cut fries, but I'd still go again if one opens up back in my hometown.

Update: the Manager explained that they are seriously understaffed, and that this was a one-off situation. He offered to send me a gift certificate. All I can say is if you can't produce edible food in the time you're allotting the cooks, maybe explain to people that their food will be 10-15 longer to get. Our order was ready fast, we would have waited to have something enjoyable to eat. If I was rating the kids meal this would be a five star rating, the chicken was good and the fries were hot. However the meals we paid almost $20 each for were a dissapointment. I did not get the burger or the extra egg I paid to have on top of it. Instead they just sent us two of the burgers my husband ordered, and he did not get the type of bun he ordered. My fries were cold immediately after getting home from a five minute drive (again, the KIDS fries were hot sooo...) the burgers were drowning in relish, and the bacon seemed like it has been in a warming drawer for a while. My burger was not fully cooked in the middle.
