It is a small but cozy joint, so don't expect luxurious seatings. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially other breakfast or brunch lovers.

My wife and I had an incredible brunch here. We were very impressed with the creativity of the dishes. The flavors allowed the freshness of the ingredients speak for themselves, while pairing them in ways that made the flavors better than if they were just on their own. The service was so friendly, and welcoming. From the minute we stepped into the restaurant, it felt comfortable and easy to feel right at home. As well the Steak & Eggs Benny was possibly one of the best non-traditional Eggs Benedict's I have ever eaten. I would never have thought to add a chimichurri sauce, but the way the flavors balanced the richness of the rest of the dish made it exceptional.

An excellent, excellent breakfast joint. Went during a weekend trip and I'm so glad we landed in this restaurant. Overheard the owner say she recently took over the place with her partner because she sensed it had a good energy. It seemed to me that actually she's the source of good energy. They're really doing a fantastic job and you can feel it. My boyfriend cleaned his plate--something he rarely does. Our eggs were cooked to perfection and the hash was fresh and crispy. Although we went right when it opened, the place filled up fast!

Wow, this place has new life in it! Seriously, the old owners are gone and a new couple have had it for a couple months. The food is amazing. The new owners are just what Courtenay needs more of. We had Benedicts and the kids had piles of eggs, meat and pancakes. Everything was great. Went back 2 or 3 days later for coffee and a light breakfast. Same delicious food and attentive staff/owners.

It is under new owners now. The menu is smaller but you can never go wrong with bacon and eggs. My poached eggs were perfectly cooked. Nice crispy bacon and potatoes. Friendly staff and great service. A great place to go for lunch or breakfast.

I have to say the experience we had here was over the moon to say the least. So friendly, and a home like service but on a professional hospitality level. The food for me was quite delicious, a great place to savour if you are searching for eats, that will satisfy and comfort your deepest cravings. We went here during a storm and there were 6 power outages and yet they still remained calm, produced delicious food, and gave the best service anyone could expect. The interior décor is really fun, eccentric, mix-match modern contemporary direction, mural that invokes thoughts of appetite and adventure. The music and vibes are quite warm and upbeat, as are the people. I whole heartedly recommend this place if at least to try, it is thoroughly worth every dollar. FYI: The best Caesar..... I have ever had. It isn't just a beverage. It will really quench your thirst and taste buds! The photos on my phone do no justification as to how everything really was!

Had lunch there...and then 2 hours later, developed explosive diarrhea! I normally wouldn't leave a review for something like that, but when I called the restaurant to let them know (nicely), the lady was condescending, stating "it doesn't happen that fast". Well, let me tell you, I know my body very well and it does happen that fast with me. I didn't expect anything, thought you would appreciate knowing....I know I would as a business owner!! You should listen to your customers a little more. I gave it two stars because of the very nice waitress.

Siobhan and Harlan have really made this place their own and have made so many positive changes. The food is top notch, the drinks are absolutely sublime and the atmosphere is just..:..great. The accent wall with the designs on it! Ah! Can’t say enough nice things about it. Will be back time and time again. So glad to see this place with a breathe of fresh life in it.

Another great breakfast place. You get lots of food for the price you pay. The decor is safely described as old-timey eclectic and perhaps borders on very busy but the food is good so whatevs. I won't go so far as to say the service is bad because it's not but on one particular morning when it was busy, I had to wait until the bill to get another cup of coffee. She was new though and it doesn't take away from the fact you should go here to eat. REDUCED STARS: So I step into the restaurant for another delicious breakfast and wait to be served, as says the sign. The place isn't full at all. That is to say, it wasn't busy at all, so the staff wasn't busy. I'd say about a 1/3 of the tables had customers. And a customer up at the till sitting down with her back to us on her phone. I waited, standing, at the door that dingle dinged when I came in, for over 5 minutes before I decided that maybe the waitress had an emergency she had to attend to and I'll just seat myself. I sat down at a table that was closest to that one customer on her phone. Waited another few minutes and nothing. Then another group of people came in. The woman on her phone stands up to reveal she was the waitress all along and starts doing her job again. Seats the group and takes their initial order. Once she comes back out with their drinks does she finally realize we were there and asks us almost jokingly if she has helped us yet. Not impressed.

The food is incredible with the best eggs Benny in town in my opinion. It's the thick sliced, tender ham combined with the well toasted English muffin and house made hollandaise that makes it exceptional. The place is small but very well laid out and has a hometown feel to it and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Youd be missing out if you didn't try it.

This place was substantially better as Michael's off Main. Don't know why all of the old staff had to go because they were awesome. The menu changed entirely and when asked to make a basic crepe with eggs/bacon, it apparently couldn't be done. I thought this was unusual for a breakfast joint. Miss the old aesthetic with the quirky artwork too. Overall severely underwhelmed with this place, can say confidently that none of my friends or I will be coming back which sucks. :(

This place has a great feel, and great food. It's friendly, warm and just a classic spot. My breakfast was delicious, but in particular I want to focus on the sausage. This could have been the most delicious sausage I've ever had, and I've had a lot of sausage. It was the "Tannadice Sausage", and if you're from Vancouver Island you might be familiar with this local farm, but I was not. When I am back on Vancouver Island I will go out of my way to get to Michael's Off Main and chow down on some tasty breakfast!

The french toast is soooo good, and comes in portions that would resemble a quarter-baguette, like the ones you would get for store-bought garlic bread. I'd recommend the three-slice if you are quite hungry or are looking for a bite to take home.

It's a small establishment with limited seating. I went there early, with my daughter, to meet my friend for brunch. They said it would take 10 min. for a table and that is precisely how long we waited. I shouldn't have cream in my coffee and they had almond milk as an alternative. Everything we ate was delicious and our brunch started us off for a productive completion of our day. I was super satisfied with my visit.

Delicious! Breakfast/brunch in a cozy little cafe... walls covered in Art Nouveau and other eclectic bits of art, with antique stained-glass window hangings scattered about. It's a bit dark inside, but that adds to the coziness. Breakfast is served with a bottle of wonderful homemade carrot-onion-habanero salsa... try it with the hashbrowns and eggs, it's got a great slow-burn flavour.

Michael's staff is friendly, efficient & fast enough, the location centrally convenient with ample on-street parking, the doorway moderately accessible (no steps, no high threshold, but door just typical 3'-3" width & lacking door opener/accessible handle [round knobs]), the woodsy-warm venue's walls filled with Maxfield Parrish and U.S.Parks Service & French Art-Nouveau posters, the food is fresh, generous & tasty, and the prices reasonable. I'd be glad to return here.

I moved here from Vancouver and I love going out for Breakfast. This is the best Breakfast in the Comox Valley. Michael's has great service, great coffee and great food. You wont be disappointed. My eggs benny is always perfect.

Had some time to kill in Courtenay and stopped in here for a bite. The place was buzzing, very lively for a Sunday morning. Cool vibes, friendly staff, good atmosphere. The fried chicken sandwich was unreal, I’d definitely recommend. Everything from the pickle to the bun, it was great. Make sure to try the house tea, perfect hit for a summer thirst.

This has been my favourite breakfast place for years, sad to say. Quality took a nose dive. Cold. And a staple in my food, upon calling and letting someone know they hung up on me. Terrified as had I not noticed the hard thing in my mouth and fished it out I would’ve swallowed a staple. Disappointing and scary experience.

Everything was over cooked. Scrambled eggs looked like an omelette with out filling or cheese, it was dry and way over cooked it was brown on the outside. Bacon and sausage way over cooked reminded me of bacon bits, sausage crispy at the ends. Don't know how they managed to over cook everything but they did!

Great food, great service. Portion sizes were good, and the kids loved it. Highly recommend. We fed 2 adults and 2 kids (who ate 2 meals each) for 70$$. Maybe a little pricey, but worth it.

I've eaten at Micheal's before, food was good in the past. Today, we stood at the door for over five (closer to ten) minutes with zero acknowledgement from the staff that looked right through us and came within literal elbow distance. Front tables were full, but we were the only party waiting... Wait staff came within touching distance a dozen times and ignored any attempt from our part to get their attention. They liked to collect behind the bar and look at us, but nary a "Good Morning" attempt was made... Not until we walked out did a young waitress come running; too little too late... Piss poor service makes me wonder if the place has gone downhill - if not, it's on its way... Doubt I'll go back to place where your business isn't wanted. We opted to wait in line at EarlyBird, which also speaks volumes that their line was out the door.

The food is good. It’s not amazing, but you’ll leave full and happy. However, my last experience was lacklustre. My fiancé and I were seated and waited about 15 minutes before we were given a menu. We waited another 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken, by which point we had our respective breakfasts ready to order as well. There were no napkins on the table (aside from the ones our cutlery was wrapped in), and I didn’t get a spoon to stir the cream and sugar into my coffee. Staff were friendly, the FOH just seemed to be severely understaffed, which is unfortunate as the Farmer’s Market is a block or two away and Michael’s is one of 2 breakfast spots nearby to fill up pre or post market shopping. This isn’t going to prevent me from dining here again, as I do enjoy the generous breakfast dishes. Hopefully just a one off experience.

The music, ambiance and the servers were great. The food was delicious and unexpected. My wife fell in love with the seafood omelette and I tried chicken & waffle for the first time and couldn’t have ask for better. Great little place that we will go back very soon.

The best breakfast decision you’ll ever make is coming here. Service and food is always incredible. I always recommend the chicken and waffles but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I am so happy to finally be back indoors now 10/10 would recommend. -Chloe ❤️????
