Wow! What a great find. I was in Chatham with my daughter for an appointment and we decided to stop for lunch. Good call. We both like plant-based options and they had a great variety to choose from. We had Garlic Cauliflower appy, Chick pea kofta (a daily special) and the Saag paneer. The sauce on the cauliflower was so sweet & spicy delicious, we had to order some rice just to enjoy more of the sauce. I wish the kofta was a regular menu item because I would order it again and again. My daughter (a talented, Stafford trained chef herself) and I both agreed that the Saag paneer was the very best we have ever had ANYWHERE. We also both agree that it will be well worth the 50 minute trip back to Chatham just to enjoy another meal here. The service was also terrific - homespun, kind and attentive.

I had a wonderful experience here with my friend and girlfriend. The service was excellent, the menu had a variety of options (vegan and non-vegan) and the food was delicious! We had a lovely chat with our server (presumably the owner?) and she was very kind and gracious. Will definitely be coming back here the next time I visit Chatham! ????

Mixed Thank was fantastic. It has a taste of so many signature dishes. If you can't decide then try this it was great. Also they can ramp up the heat through spices if you really enjoy hot food

I got the lunch special curry chicken Mixed Thaali and I have to say it was very much underwhelming. The quantity was there but the flavours were not. The curry chicken, mix veg and the dhal all tastes the similar and way too much tomato flavour. The chicken curry was definitely not curry chicken I'm use to with that thick tomato paste. As mentioned on another review, they might not be using fresh vegetables because the mix veg was slightly undercooked and seem like it contained frozen vegetables. Anyone giving 5 stars for this place has sadly never had proper Punjabi Indian food, which is where I believe the cook/owner was from, or never eaten at another Indian restaurant. I'm saying that with the understanding that India is a huge country and has varied flavours throughout. If not for quantity, this place is only deserving of the 1 star from me.

As our travel guide described it, behind an inconspicuous facade, it is the best indian restaurant in south Canada. The chicken tandoori there was the best I ever tasted, being finely spiced and not too heavy, let alone greasy like at some fast food places. The personnel there is very friendly and attentive.

Spice & Curry is my go-to place for lunch with clients, as it's an absolute win every time. Friendly staff, quick service and of course amazing Indian food. I'd recommend the butter chicken, garlic naan and rice for the main. Pakora's to start. Spice levels range 1 through 10 and very consistent.

I had the worst experience over there the lady takes payments and order she is really rude not even me my other friends had same experience. We went there at 8pm and she was like we are closing why did you come here at this time. Please do not go at such kind of place you want someone yell at you. I was really disappointed. They didn't use fresh ingredients (pretty sure it was that frozen veg mix from superstore no name brand). Their naan was also not made in house.. probably also from superstore. I want to support businesses like this, but you need to step up your game. You can tell when you're not using fresh ingredients or making the food in house.

The portions are good but the taste of the food was just okay. The lady at the front desk had her mask on and off and the cook didn't wear one at all. Out of the few things we ordered, only the paneer tikka (dry) was good.

Although I grew up nearby in Wallaceburg, Vancouver has been my home for nearly 40 years and I've had a lot of experience with very good Indian food there. Finding Spice and Curry in Chatham a few years back was a revelation. The servers are superb and very knowledgeable about the food and the chef is outstanding. My partner and I are both vegan and there are always delicious options for us in both the regular menu and the specials menu. Neither of us are afraid of spice and every dish that we've had has been seasoned exquisitely. We've been back here at least 8 times, but this year (2018), we had a Christmas family dinner with my relatives from Wallaceburg. This was their first experience with Indian food and they were a bit apprehensive. Asking for very mild spice was the perfect option for them and they left pleasantly surprised and very satisfied whereas our chana masala and mushroom and spinach curry at a 7/10 was exactly the right level for us. This is exceptional food and well worth the trip to Chatham to enjoy it. I can't wait to come back!

Terrible food and rude staff. As someone who has been to real Indian food restaurants this food tasted like canned garbage. It’s a shame seeing as it’s the only Indian food place around. I beg that anyone that has eaten here doesn’t think all Indian food is this bad. Next time you are in London or the GTA look up a place with some good reviews.

I'll start off by saying the food is amazing! The staff are very friendly. Reason for star rating is; I called in and ordered for pick up. I confirmed on the phone exactly what I wanted three times before hanging up. The gentleman on the phone was speaking very fast and I wanted to make sure the order was correct. When I was paying I noticed the price was about $20 more than I had added up while placing my order. I figured it could be changes in pricing. No biggie. I asked for a receipt to confirm. There was an additional order of tikka on there that I didn't ask for. Would be a 5 star rating if that didn't happen, but could have been an honest mistake.

Shocked to find such a great Indian restaurant in Chatham. Chef roasts his spices before he cooks. Some of the best Indian food I've had outside India. Been amazing each time. Be careful with hot... because it really is. Love the use of spices. Quiet and unassuming. And amazing.

The best !! Came here on a Saturday night around 8:20 PM they were closed we didn't realize that because Google said it was open till 9PM. They were nice enough to make us the order. I am from Southern India. Trust me we eat a lot of spice. A lot. The Madras Chicken I had here was the best ! The spice and the flavour was on point. I have never had such spicy chicken in Canada !

We came here on the Friday evening. The curry was fabulous - I had Lamb Korma, spicy and tender with plenty of sauce. The Naan bread was fresh and quite delicious. My companion had the shrimp and loved it1 The lady who served us was very friendly, the venue is small, but for genuine indian food spiced properly, I highly recommend it. It is so good to find this in Canada.

I've eaten here a few times and every experience has been awesome! The restaurant isn't the fanciest, but don't let that turn you off, the food is INCREDIBLE! Be warned though, they definitely take the "SPICE" in their name seriously, but if you want it mild, they will definitely keep it mild. I've had the Mattar Paneer a couple of times, with samosas and pakoras and everything I've tried is incredible. Very friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend checking in here if you like Indian food!

Ive been several times, all good! I ordered a few days ago (first time since the lockdown) because I love Indian cuisine. When I was ordering with the lady, i asked who would be cooking, her or her husband, as the spice levels can be diferent depending on who cooks it. At this I was told "just because we look the same, doesnt mean we are related." I was shocked!! Honestly, how dare you! If i went to a fish and chip shop in London, England, and the 2 people that always worked there were around the same age and a man and a woman, i would assume they were related (husband and wife) same thing with any other small restaurant! To be accused of racism when that is not true, is (IMO) worse than being a racist. You are attributing racist motive to someone who does not hold those beliefs, and that is disgusting. I wont be returning. All this during a pandemic where I WANTED to support local business.

I don’t usually post reviews, and I guess that’s why it’s taken me so long here, but Spice & Curry is hands-down the best food in Chatham-Kent... and beyond! I have had Indian food in many places, including all over the state of Rajasthan in India, and nothing compares to the dishes at Spice & Curry. For over 5 years, my go-to comfort meal has been the Chana Masala, Garlic Cauliflower and their delicious samosas. The flavours are unmatched! AND the service is the best, as the owners have hearts of gold. We love Spice & Curry so much that we featured their dishes at our wedding last month and our guests can’t stop raving about the best wedding food they’ve ever had! Thank you S & G, for all of your life-giving dishes :)

Ordered the Madras Chicken with Lentil soup. Outstanding flavour and quality. Perfectly balanced use of spices. Generous portions. Very fresh and hot. Very friendly, and gracious owners. Meal was very healthy, and light. I will be a repeat customer 100%. Very impressed, very surprised to find such authentic, high quality Indian food in a small city like Chatham. The lentil soup was also amazing. I've had Indian Lentil soup dozens of times, all over Canada a d the U.S., a d I've never seen Lentil soup made with so many spices. Very delicious, and possible the best Lentil soup I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Definitely in the top 3 Indian food I've ever tasted in my life. Simply......wow!

Indian Food in Chatham? Yes. And it's really really good! Everything we ate was made fresh for us because "We were in their house" remarked Shelly, the owner. "We make you the food we would make our family" she continued as my father devoured his butter chicken which was the best version of that dish I've ever tasted. Try the garlic cauliflower appitizer and fall in love with this quiet and unassuming home of great Indian culture and food.

The lamb masala is to die for. I went back the second day just to get more and she suggested an alternative just to try new flavors. And.... A new favorite! The naan is excellent. My advice - go there. Ask for advice on choices. Take the advice. If I could return to the States with their food, I would buy a bucket. Yum!

I don't know much about Indian Food but I do know good service when I see it and I know what tastes good. And this was fabulous! I had the Buttered Chicken and Rice and I took home plenty. Got 2 meals out of it. Recommend 3 heat. (Hot enough for English palate) Try those 'crackers' and that flat bread. PS Don't try to sing along with the music. It's for atmosphere.

the food here is amazing. The flavours blast your taste buds. I always try different dishes to experience their cuisine as much as possible. Each dish is as good as the last if not better. Run by a nice couple who are an absolute pleasure to deal with. My dish today was the half chicken Tandoori style. Was so good. My favourite to date. Looking forward to trying the owners recommendation Lamb Marsala next. Give them a try. Their cuisine is amazing!

Food is always great, but today it was exceptionally tasty!!! We ordered chicken masala, mango chicken curry and coconut veg curry and it was ohhh so delicious. Ive been here a few times. The chicken madras was great, but the korma was really disappointing... it wasn't creamy nor did it seem cashew based at all. I am also disappointed on the lack of nuts in this dish.... I've got to say i've had wayyy better creamy flavourful korma.. i wouldn't even call this korma! It was more like madras or masala- deep red and thick sauce.. I seriously question if they got my order wrong. I also find it a little pricey... but of course lots of left overs. I would definitely come here again. I missed Indian food in the bigger cities so it's nice to have the option of Indian food in this small town.

I am from out of town and I only had the chance for one dinner in the Chatham area. I was driving around, asking about sushi and whatnot when I saw the sign for Spice & Curry. I immediately pulled in and was elated to find they were still open. In I go and there I'm greeted by a lovely women and seated promptly with a menu and my choice of drink, even though I was taking it away. We had a short conversation about the food and what I might like and we came up with the Butter Chicken. As I sit, for what seemed like only a handful of minutes, a dish was brought out by the same lady who welcomed me and it was SIZZLING. I mean, like, full-on steam and smoke, still-seering-itself sizzling. It smelled incredible and absolutely filled the cozy room with anticipation and had people sitting in awe. I can't recommend this place enough and for anyone considering it...JUST GO! Oh, and the butter chicken? JUST GO ALREADY!

Absolutely love their food. My wife and I have been eating from here for months now. Owners are very nice and the food is VERY consistent! The only complaint I have, which I hope they read this, is that in the prawn shimp dish, they need to put more shrimp in it. It definitely doesn't come with enough shrimp. If they added 3 or 4 more shrimp, this place would be absolutely perfect!

Tried Spice and Curry for the first time and the entire experience was amazing. The service from Shelley, the food, the Chai tea made from scratch - it was a great evening. We were treated like family and Shelly made great recommendations on what would go well together. Loved it and would highly recommend.

Very bad experience. They don’t have a good customer service. The lady in the counter is too rude and she don’t even give a smile to the customers. Taste of food is average. I am not at all satisfied with her attitude.

Just got take-out and it was so disappointing. Way more sauce than meat or veggie. Overpriced for what I received and underwhelmed by the quality and how spicy it was. I asked for spicy and it was mediocre. I will not be going back and I would have to advise others to stay away when 1 peice of naan bread is 2 dollars. Riiiip offff

I ordered a lamb biriani. It is the worst biriani I ever had. Too pricy; $16.99 for a lamb biriani??? Are you kidding???? If these guys were in Toronto or Mississauga, they would have been out of business by now. Will never go again and never recommend anyone.

Had the lentil soup and the paneer tikka masala. Both were awesome. Staff was quite friendly and willing to talk to us about choices on the menu. Will go back for sure.

Food is great but the lady at the front counter is not. Go there if you want to be yelled at. The lady neither has the passion for the business nor the etiquette for customer service. The chef is to my knowledge co-owner of the restaurant and if he wants longevity in the business, then he would better understand where he is falling behind to fix it. By that i meant the loud mouthed lady at the cashier desk who takes your orders. Food itself is very good but i must say i am disappointed not once or twice but on 4 different occasions with how she treats people. May be its her nature...

The atmosphere was exquisite! The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and accommodating! The Chef even came out to see if the spice level was okay! 10/10 would definitely be back, the menu is quite extensive so you can experience a wide variety of dishes!

Excellent Indian food with punjabi taste. I never thought that I will have such a good dal makhani and lamb spinach in Chatham. Congratulations for bringing Punjabi taste in far end of Southwestern Ontario.

It was very yummy! We had the butterchicken, garlic naan, and the cauliflower App for lunch and everything was delicious. Staff was not Friendly or even talkative but I was told it must have been an off day because they are normally very friendly.

Incredible Indian food, everything can be ordered with your preferred level of spice 1-10. A 5 is spicy enough, I imagine a 10 would melt your face off, in a delicious way though! Cozy place with a small dining room and nice ambiance. Lots of food for the price plus garlic naan bread mmmmm. Easily one of the best resturants in Chatham and a wonderful change of pace. Staff is wonderful! A must go for anyone wanting to scratch that Indian itch!

We are from London and came across this restaurant thru Google, as we were watching the sunset at Lake St Clair. So we stopped in for a Birthday dinner and I was not disappointed. It was Fabulous. The Owner served a delicious fish curry and the lamb Biriani was to die for. Spiced beautifully. I would highly recommend this little restaurant anytime your passing by Chatham. I will most certainly return

Tried this place for the first time last week. Service was amazing. The lady was very helpful as it was our first time eating Indian food. Excellent flavors and Spice. I had the butter chicken. My husband had a seafood dish. We shared the fried cauliflower as an appetizer. Definitely recommend eating here. We will be back
